Yakuza Fiance: Raise wa Tanin ga Ii (2024) s01e03 Episode Script

The Triangle from Hell

1
[moaning]
[AYANO]
It feels like it's been ages.
You get a girlfriend
or something?
[gasps]
- Do you really wanna know?
- [Ayano gasps]
There is this one girl
that I'm head over heels for!
You say you're head over heels
with another girl's heels
over your head?
What's she even like?
Let me see a pic.
[KIRISHIMA]
Here, she's from Osaka.
[AYANO] God, I can't stand
girls prettier than me.
[sighs]
Wait, these are all candid.
[KIRISHIMA]
You noticed?
I'd ask her to pose
if she'd let me take a shot.
Sneaking pics is about the
shadiest thing I'll risk doing.
She'd end me
if I tried something,
even if it killed her.
Okay, I'm convinced
she hates you.
[KIRISHIMA]
She gets angry at me every day,
but she's never said
she hates me.
What?
Who's angry at someone
every single day?
Give up on this chick.
Why would I give up?
I'm in love with her.
You don't just give up
on the one you love.
[AYANO] Not even
if there's a guy she likes
back in Osaka?
Long-distance relationships
are a thing.
That sounds kinda hot
in its own way.
[sighs]
Ew!
You are so much of a freak,
I'm starting to feel
sorry for this girl
and I still don't see why
you're so obsessed with her.
You don't?
[AYANO] It's not worth
the stress if she's always mad.
THE TRIANGLE FROM HELL
[deep breaths]
[YOSHINO]
Is that
Grandpa?
[groans]
No, I'm in Tokyo.
Tokyo.
[gasps]
Ah!
[groans]
Just a dream.
No, that boy was in my room!
But I could have sworn
all of the doors were locked.
Did he break in?
He would've had to cut
through the chain, though.
And what would the point
of breaking in here even be?
Did he lose interest?
Decide it's time to get
rid of me the fun way?
It's possible.
[gasps]
Shit, I've gotten
so used to his stunts,
the thought of him
killing me in my sleep
don't even faze me!
[sighs]
God, this is so stupid.
For now, I'll just change
the front door's lock, I guess.
And buy a weapon.
Hm.
Or maybe not.
[dog howling]
[deep breaths]
[YOSHINO]
Great, he's here.
Why?
What's he doing?
And is that blood?
[groans]
If he really
is trying to kill me,
he'll get closer.
I'll only use it
as a last resort,
but the instant he touches me.
[groans]
[gasps]
He's braiding my hair?
[screams]
Enough!
I can't take it!
You creep!
The hell do you want?
[thuds]
Jeez, Yoshino.
You really scared me there.
Scared you?
You're the idiot who broke
into my room
and has me pinned to the floor!
[KIRISHIMA]
Oh, sorry! Reflex!
Here. Upsy-daisy.
You aren't hurt are you?
You dumbass!
I'd rather you explain
how you got in
and what for.
Now, talk!
I used the door.
Made a spare key
from aluminum foil
then I undid the chain
with some string.
[YOSHINO]
You damn criminal!
[groans]
[screams]
Well, I hope
you're nice and comfy
'cause you're in
for one big lecture!
[KIRISHIMA]
Fine.
No more crime
or common sense talk.
Apparently, those are too
abstract for your brain.
But look here!
Don't sneak
into people's rooms.
Just get consent
before you go in!
Not because it's common sense,
but because I don't
appreciate it when you do it.
- Are we clear?
- Yes, ma'am.
Okay, then.
Moving on
I know you didn't break in
to give me some braids,
so why were you in here?
[sighs]
[YOSHINO]
Come on, dude.
I realized that
you're always angry
or in a bad mood
whenever I see you,
and it got me thinking.
Then to make it worse,
someone said
it's 'cause you hate me.
So?
So, I came to see what you look
like when you're fast asleep.
No one's mad when they're
in a REM cycle, right?
Plus, I can look for as long
as I want to this way.
[gasps]
Oh.
Considering how
you almost seem wired
to act outside the law,
why would I be anything
other than angry?
Your forehead's bleeding
as we speak.
[KIRISHIMA]
Oh, this?
Yeah, I was out past curfew
and Tachibana socked me
pretty good for it.
[YOSHINO] What, you
of all people have a curfew?
Yep, it's 1:00 a.m.
- Not that I actually
stick to it. -[sighs]
Just hearing that
from your stupid,
smiling face pisses me off.
Yet you say you don't
wanna make me mad.
It's less about
not making you mad
and more about
seeing you not mad.
Well, for starters,
you could actually abide
by your curfew
and come home on time.
- Um.
- Point proven again.
Can't bring yourself
to do it, can you?
Only took a few weeks,
but I can read you
like the rule book
you toss to the wind,
and I also clocked the girls.
[YOSHINO]
You're drowning in 'em.
What girls?
Ah?
You've got a hickey on the
back of your neck, lover boy.
You're too easy.
But even if you weren't
obvious about it,
I would've picked up
on your habits
sooner or later, I'm sure.
[YOSHINO] Gramps likes to play
the field, too, you know.
If every woman he'd ever
slept with bore him a kid
a map of the entire city
would be less complex
than my family tree.
You don't have any kids runnin'
around already, do you?
[laughs]
Nope, I am kid-free.
At least I think so?
Be smart or keep it
in your pants, all right?
- What?
- For once.
I did something sketchy
and you didn't get mad at me.
Why would I be mad about that?
Well, I was seeing other girls
without telling you.
[sighs]
That's none of my business.
Please, do whatever you want.
[KIRISHIMA]
You're pretty forgiving.
Nah, my fuse is real short.
If somebody I liked
was fooling around,
he would be a dead man.
- What?
- What?
If that were true, I wouldn't
be breathing right now.
But, I am.
I'm not about
to become a murderer
for a guy I don't care about.
[KIRISHIMA]
Then you do hate me after all.
[YOSHINO]
No, I never said that.
[KIRISHIMA] I've loved
every day I've spent with you.
You've got me rushing back home
when I know you'll be here.
School's even fun now,
thanks to you.
You changed everything.
I swear.
You do such vicious things
then spout off speeches
a fifth-grader would make.
Do you hate me or not?
I admit I avoid you,
but I don't do it
'cause I hate you or anything.
I just ain't a fan of how
unpredictable you are,
that's all.
[gasps]
You never bite
unless you're interested.
And if you are interested,
you go all in,
which is kinda refreshing.
[YOSHINO] I like how
true to yourself you are.
If you've got
any good qualities,
that covers them I'd say.
[gasps]
[YOSHINO] I'm gonna put
a bandage on that real quick.
Once I'm done, I want you out--
- [screams]
- I love you, too, angel!
"Angel?"
I'm gonna work real hard
so when I cheat on you,
you'll hunt me
like a wild animal
and skin me alive!
[YOSHINO]
What is your damage?
[birds chirping]
So hot.
I am too sleep-deprived
for this heat.
You got a package from Osaka
to start your day off right!
Oh, cool, thanks.
Is that also mine?
Nah, this second one's
addressed to me.
I sent a letter to Boss Somei,
and I guess he replied.
Wait, you wrote Gramps?
What are you, his pen pal?
I wrote an apology.
For dragging you around
the other night
and, of course, getting you
hurt in the process.
I apologized by phone, too.
You are weirdly
considerate sometimes.
Any idea what
he would send you?
[YOSHINO]
Actually, yeah.
I asked for some photos
of my dad.
You would be surprised
by how normal he was,
from what I hear.
Couldn't fight
to save his life,
and his hate for yakuza
made him butt heads
with Gramps a lot.
He moved out
and got hitched as soon
as he graduated high school.
Then he died in a bad accident
before I could breathe
my first breath,
so I never got
a strong sense of him.
"Bad" accident?
What's up?
Nothing but my love for you.
Oh, but did you hear your
grandpa will be in town
just two days from now?
He will?
Gramps hasn't said a thing.
You know what for?
The Goyu league
are having a get together.
[EBINE] I appreciate you all
for taking the time
to join us tonight.
And that goes double
for our gentlemen
of the Kirigaya group.
Lieutenants Renji Somei
and Narumi Azuma
made quite the trip
for this occasion,
and I'm most grateful for it.
We are gathered here
to pool our wits
beyond the distinctions
of east and west,
so that we may further
advance our organizations,
both collective and individual,
and continue to flourish
for many years to come.
To the union.
Cheers, men.
[INAMORI] The Kanto Goyu league
is a gathering
for the yakuza groups
of east Japan.
[KIRISHIMA] They meet up
for a dinner four times a year,
and the heads of the affiliated
groups all attend.
Kind of along the lines
of a political summit.
They used to only let groups
from the Kanto region join,
but now they've got
the Kirigaya family
from the Kansai region
in their ranks.
I had no idea about
any of this stuff.
And you should remain
that oblivious going forward.
Learn a lesson from
the Akaza Enterprises mess
and keep your nose to yourself.
[gasps]
Those old pictures of your
father made me remember
I have some
old photos here, too.
Do wanna see the boss
when he was younger?
Boss Somei's also in there.
Yeah?
[gasps]
I think I found Boss Miyama.
[KIRISHIMA] Yep,
that's him a few decades ago.
I would swear
you time-traveled!
You're like his twin!
Is the resemblance
really that strong?
[YOSHINO]
It's not a "resemblance!"
You are him!
This photo makes it seem like
they were pretty close,
doesn't it?
- Uh!
- I've got a hunch
they were great friends
back in the day.
- Huh?
- The boss
does not enjoy taking photos,
so these ten
are the only ones of him
from his younger years.
[KIRISHIMA] And Boss Somei
makes an appearance
in all ten of them.
My gramps loves taking photos,
even though they're all shaky.
Bet he forced
your gramps to join.
So, the boss would tolerate
having his photo taken
if Boss Somei made him,
meaning they were close.
That's where I got my hunch.
Gotcha.
What about this other guy?
The one behind Gramps.
[KIRISHIMA] That's Boss Akime
from the Ryuzetsu Family.
And yeah,
there's history there, too.
The Ryuzetsu Family has roots
in the Tokusa Clan, like we do.
Uh-huh.
It's amazing
how all three of them
are heading
major organizations now.
[INAMORI] Childhood friends
to yakuza bigwigs.
It just tugs
the heartstrings, man.

[RENJI]
Uh? Gaku.
- Hm?
- Hey, how ya been these days?
Fine.
Sounds like your voice
is putting your face to sleep!
Though you never did
have a lotta pep, huh?
I only sound sleepy
because I've been drinking
and I would like
to go to sleep now.
You still can't
hold your booze?
Don't need to.
I rarely indulge in the stuff.
Oh, that's right.
You weren't a lush,
but you did have a sweet tooth.
Got a little candy for ya.
They were givin' away
free tissues
at the station, too,
and I nabbed extra.
Thanks, but I'm good, so get
your hands out of my pants.
- [AKISHIBA]
Been a while, Renji.
- [BOTH] Hm?
[RENJI] Hey, it has been
a minute, Akishiba!
I see time has done
nothing to sap your energy.
[RENJI]
You think?
Here have a candy
and a tissue.
Why don't you keep them?
[MALE YAKUZA 3A] Boss,
the car's waiting out front.
Shall we?
Let's go, Gaku.
See ya round, Renji.
Hm?
Hey, just the man
I was hoping to find!
Are you ready for the real
drinking to start?
[RENJI]
Yeah, you know it!
I could definitely go
for another round or two.
Or three or four!
[growls]
[wind howling]
Did you say an album?
That's right.
There should be another one
apart from the one I have.
Where are you?
[SHOMA]
I'm over by my school.
Ah, I gotcha.
Well, the next time
you're at home,
would you mind checking
my room for it again?
Consider it done.
If it's in there, I'll find it.
[YOSHINO]
Thank you.
[Yoshino humming]
Ah, long time no see, Hotei!
You can say that again.
Been doin' good?
Actually,
I've been doin' great!
Is Gramps with you?
He went back
to Osaka last night.
He had to make
a meeting at HQ today.
Sorry, this was
a business trip, as you know.
But enough about that,
are you hungry?
I have a lunch date later on
that I should save room for,
but thanks for asking.
Meeting up with
Boss Miyama's grandson?
I mean, he is why I'm here.
[HOTEI]
What's he like?
[YOSHINO]
Well
Heard you two were causing
trouble the other day.
Does he take you out
after dark pretty regularly?
He doesn't, that was
just a one-time thing.
If I had to describe
what type of guy he is.
[groans]
MASOCHIS
SELF-DESTRUCTIVE
WOMANIZER
FAKE SMILE
He's a very mentally
durable boy.
I don't get it.
But whatever, just tell him
you wanna come over
to Osaka this summer.
What for?
[HOTEI] Ain't that
the sensible thing to do?
You might find this
overbearing,
but it's true either way.
I've been with you the longest
since you were born,
and I'd argue I've taken
the most care of you
over the years.
There's no argument there,
that's just facts.
Gramps was hardly around
when I was little.
I was basically raised
as your own daughter, Hotei.
[HOTEI] Don't ever repeat that
to the boss' face.
We're getting off topic.
Okay, look, I just wanna
meet this kid
and see if I can trust him
to care for you.
[HOTEI]
If he's up to it.
Oh, if I told him the person
who raised me
wanted to say hello,
he'd insist that
we drop by
as early as tomorrow.
No doubt about it.
[cheering]
HELLO,
IT'S NICE TO MEET YOU
Hey there, Shoma.
- 'Bout time.
- Huh?
[indistinct chatter]
[MALE YAKUZA 3B]
Excuse me, Inamori.
Should I clean out
the locked room
over in the storage house?
I'll need a key.
That leads down
to the basement.
Don't go in there
even if it's unlocked.
[MALE YAKUZA 3B]
What's it for?
There was a time they used
to throw any members
addicted to drugs down
inside there to sober up.
Kirishima uses it for his
personal space these days
which is honestly kinda weird.
[KIRISHIMA]
Sure, fine by me.
It's been a while
since you've seen him, right?
Let me know
if you're gonna be late.
[door opens]
I'll come pick you up.
Who travels someplace overnight
with no change of clothes?
It's not like
I'm on vacation, though.
I came to give you
the photo album.
[YOSHINO]
And I appreciate that,
but you ain't drivin'
right back,
so you shoulda brought
stuff to wear tomorrow!
Now, see what fits you best!
[groans]

Um.
[sighs]
You really went
from your school
to Osaka last night,
then came straight
to Tokyo, huh?
[SHOMA]
Yeah, guess I did.
I feel sorry for that
poor motorcycle of yours.
[SHOMA] Well,
I wanted to check on you, too.
No telling what you'll do
when you lose your temper.
That's hilarious
coming from the guy
who was only 13 years old
when he joined up
all because of his bad temper,
no less.
What middle schooler
picks a fight with a yakuza
then joins?
In my defense,
I was drunk when it happened.
[YOSHINO] We both know
it wasn't just the alcohol.
At least you caught
a lucky break
fighting with Gramps, though.
Our family's full of deadbeat
good-for-nothings,
but if you'd kept livin'
the way you were back then,
you woulda wound up
as one of the worst
of the worst there ever was.
[SHOMA]
Probably.
Where do I ring this up, ma'am?
- It fits great.
- [gasps]
Put a damn shirt on yourself!
[switch clicks]
[creaking]
TORIASHI SHOMA
AFTER THE DEATH OF
HIS MOTHER, ADOPTED
BY HIS PATERNAL
GRANDPARENTS.
PUT INTO PROTECTIVE
CARE FOR A TIME
DUE TO CONFLICT WITH
GRANDPARENTS.
All right, Shoma Toriashi.
[chewing]
I guess your eating habits
haven't changed.
And you have got to cover up.
At least out in public, 'kay?
I thought the whole idea
was to get them in places
you can hide from plain view.
I'll be careful.
[sighs]
I don't understand
why you and Kirishima
even bothered getting those.
What's this Kirishima guy like?
[chuckles]
Hotei asked me the same thing,
and I didn't have
a good answer.
I still don't have one.
- Why not?
- 'Cause I'm not certain.
All I know is he's
a deranged psychopath.
Maybe if I didn't think of him
as a human being
he'd be easier to understand.
That doesn't make sense.
That's why I don't
have an answer.
And do you think
this "deranged psychopath"
is serious about
putting a ring on it?
[inhales]
Sounds like it.
But since he's so hard to read,
I can't tell
when he's joking or not.
[SHOMA] If he proposed,
would you say yes?
You think I'd marry him
after all I told you?
I'm just aiming to get
as much of his attention
as I can while I'm here,
dump him,
and head home to Osaka.
Simple as that.
You don't know the full reason
that you wound up
with the Miyamas right now.
Do you, Yoshino?
Sure, I do.
Gramps sprung this on me
'cause he's insane.
Well, you aren't wrong
about that.
Does the name Ranzo Suga
ring a bell?
[SHOMA] He's the chairman
of the Himetorano Clan.
Yeah, I know him.
A long time ago
when I was little,
Gramps took me on a vacation
with him and his family.
[SHOMA]
Then do you also know
why he and the boss
are so tight?
Well, they are friends.
Ain't friends tight?
The boss was about my age
when it happened
but the Himetorano chairman
at the time
and the fourth chairman
of the Kirigaya family
became sworn brothers.
[SHOMA] Their house is pretty
well established in Kanto,
and they gave HQ an in to start
gaining ground in Tokyo
which eventually led
to a gigantic war
between them
and the Tokusa Clan.
But just last year,
Boss Miyama and Gramps
swore an oath
of brotherhood, too.
Some kinda truce
to ensure there's peace.
[SHOMA] Sad thing is they might
get the exact opposite.
[gasps]
You see, when the
Himetorano Clan and HQ
pledged their oath,
on the surface,
they tried to promote peace
between east and west, but--
So, then do you think
there'll be another war?
Well, all I'm saying
is there's a chance.
And as long as you're in Tokyo,
I doubt that we'll see the boss
trying anything too aggressive
as per some
arrangement they have.
Or it could be
I'm overthinkin' this,
so just forget it.
[SHOMA]
I'm gonna get the tab.
[sighs]
A war, huh?
[Yoshino groans]
[YOSHINO]
I ate way too much.
When it's a buffet
I gotta get my money's worth.
I wanna fall into a coma
and sleep off this food, baby.
Take a nap if you want.
You're still good on time,
aren't you?
[YOSHINO]
Dunno, what time is it?
- 9:00-ish.
- Ugh, already?
I don't wanna go back there.
I think somethin'
about seeing you
has made me fed up
with this whole deal.
What whole deal?
Wanting to beat Kirishima
and his dumb mind games.
Always being ready to kill him
before he can kill me.
Never showing
any kind of weakness,
no matter what.
It's all I ever think about,
and it's driving me
freakin' nuts.
I mean, you do
seem a little nuts.
[YOSHINO]
Shut your face.
The thing is, despite all that,
he's the only person
in Tokyo I can turn to.
My one, screwed up ally.
And I never know
what he's gonna do next.
I can't tell which face
is his real one,
however much time
we spend together.
It's exhausting, you know?
Part of me wants to head home
with you to Osaka
and not look back.
- [SHOMA] 'Kay, so let's do it.
- Huh?
Just saying, if this guy
weren't in the picture,
you wouldn't have to stay here
stressing about this stuff,
would you?
Which means all I have to do
to solve your problem
is take him out for you.
So, what like murder him?
That was a pretty
quick escalation.
[SHOMA] From what you said,
he sounds like a piece of work.
Possibly a genuine psychopath.
I could be doing
the world a favor
and it's not like
I'm some kinda saint myself,
so killin' a guy
wouldn't be a big deal.
[YOSHINO]
Whoa, hold on.
Things haven't been great,
but they're not that bad.
Not yet, maybe.
But when that changes,
let me know.
I'll be waiting.
[gasps]
[SHOMA] I'm gonna go out
and grab a smoke.
[YOSHINO]
Mm-hm.
[door opens]
[door closes]
[clanking]
[traffic humming]
Part of me wants to head home
with you to Osaka right now
and never look back.
[exhaling deeply]

[KIRISHIMA] You're not allowed
to smoke on the street
around here buddy.
Huh?
It's a pleasure to meet you,
Shoma Toriashi.
The name's Kirishima Miyama.
