Little Dog (2018) s01e04 Episode Script

Round Four

1 Previously on Little Dog, Tommy went out to see his daddy in jail.
Dad's supposed to be getting parole soon and wants to train Tommy again.
It's fated.
Tommy wants nothing to do with Dad's old crony Tucker, he says he'll get a job.
Then he actually gets a job cutting cod tongues.
He mucks that up pretty quick.
Spam gives him a few dollars from Tucker "Don't Tommy go and blow it all on clothes and drinks and women!" But then Tucker comes and breaks up the party.
We have to talk.
Oh, and Tommy's ex, Pamela showed up.
She must have six months to live or something.
That's all I can make of it.
(SOFT MUSIC) Oh, Pamela, it is so nice having you here.
Have another piece.
- Thanks.
- It's lovely to have her here, isn't it, Lowly? Uh, I suppose.
A bit weird.
No, it's not.
What's weird about it? (INDISTINCT CONVERSATION) Look who's here.
Wow, Chesley! Do you remember me? Of course he remembers you.
You think he's delayed or something? No, it's just he was so small when I saw him last.
What's that supposed to mean? He was malnourished? No, it's just he's grown a lot.
I see.
I suppose next you'll be going around saying he has a weight problem.
There's no winning with you.
Yeah, Pam, take it easy on the young feller.
- He just got here.
- She's making conversation, stop.
- What are you even doing here? - She came to make peace.
- To bury the hatchet.
- Well, better bury the kitchen knives too - before Tommy hears that voice.
- Hold on, hold on, come on! What's she at out here, talking about my nephew? - She said I was fat and stupid.
- She never! You can't just barge in here and insult and bully my nephew because your life is a miserable shit heap.
- OK? - Can we just I'm just I didn't want to run into you at the press conference.
- Oh, afraid I'll make a scene? - All she cares about is her image.
- She cares about us, Ginny.
- This was a bad idea.
- Bad idea! - Stop it! - Stop! - The whole fight with Rico is a joke.
- You won't win.
- (LAUGHING) Thank you for reminding me how crazy you are.
- To think I was starting to miss you.
- (ALL LAUGHING) - Get the fuck outta here.
- (LAUGHING) (INDISTINCT CONVERSATION) That's it, boys.
Eh? Oh.
Timing is everything in boxing.
What do you think, Tommy? Is my timing impeccable or am I just watching every move you make? I'm gonna go with the latter because it's creepier.
Press conference day.
I've done a few press interviews in my day.
- I know my way around a camera.
- When I was up at the nationals, we Yeah.
A lesson to learn, that's the key here.
We'll solve all the world's problems if we learn to listen.
Hunger.
World hunger.
Yeah, not hunger.
Hunger needs food.
Look, I could use another triple-triple.
Bounce.
Magic, isn't it? The feeling in here? Can you tell me why you're looking for anxiety medication? Why aren't I would be the shorter answer.
Tommy.
He's a constant disappointment.
Not just to us, but to himself, and that's almost harder for a mother to bear.
- Almost? - And I'm on my own with the three kids - Adult kids.
- My husband's up for parole and he might get it.
Oh got Tommy's press conference coming up (CELL PHONE BUZZING) His ex is in town; she was almost my daughter-in-law and I think they should make another go of it, but he is making it so hard.
- Perhaps he doesn't want that.
- Of course he does.
She broke his heart.
So I just need a little something to take the edge off.
People can become dependent on benzodiazepines.
You realise that.
I'm not a drug addict.
You've outlined some life problems.
I hear you, but, you're not displaying any actual symptoms of anxiety.
Shortness of breath, electrical shock feelings, numbness in the legs, shooting pain in the face, fear of impending doom, inability to rest, generally insomnia OK? - (CELL PHONE BUZZING) - Sorry.
I can see you don't have time for your patients little wounds here.
- So sorry.
- You think I'm some sort of drug addict coming in here looking for pills I don't need.
I mean, I'm having genuine concerns for my mental well-being! Alright.
Here.
Is Tommy OK? You know, I almost died giving birth to him.
Came out feet first, like he was holding on to me uterus from the inside and wouldn't let go.
From the second he opened his eyes, slowly draining the life out of me, - moment by moment.
- (CELL PHONE BUZZING) Let's just get something straight here, OK? You can train me, alright, but you don't own me.
No.
I mean, Tommy Ross he's his own man.
That's right.
So, training schedule I'll send you out on a run; every now and again you pick up the odd package, couple times a day, but then I could surprise you, send you out at 3AM just to keep you on your toes, right? Listen, listen, no packages, none of that stuff Don't ever, fucking ever interrupt me again.
Now, sparring partners.
I'll pick 'em and you fight 'em and win.
But, uh, don't paralyse anyone, unless I need somebody paralysed.
Now, sometimes they're gonna mix up the runs with the off-location matchups, right? I'll give you the address, you go knock on the door, have the fight, win, and then book 'er back here.
All the time, of course, being your very own man.
Now, let's start out with something special, shall we? Hit that.
Is that it? You're not gonna call out a combo or something? Alright, uh Gimme a How about straight punches to start, one-two, one-two? Alright, what about straight punches to start? One-two, one-two.
Go on.
- The bag - Hit it.
- (SCREAM OF PAIN) That's it! - Christ.
Good! One-two! Go on, hit it! - Straight punches, that's it! One-two, one-two! - Ow! Ow! - I'm sorry! - That's good.
Alright.
Thanks, man.
Spam, just refresh my memory.
How many packs are in a carton? - Ten.
- Ten.
And how many cartons of smokes - are in a whole case? - Twenty.
Twenty, right again.
Twenty.
Not eighteen, not nineteen.
Twenty.
- Now, do I look like I eat bullcrappy-o? - No.
Why are you always trying to feed me bullcrappy-o? - Get up.
- Sorry.
Let's hit the showers.
No, I'm good.
I'm good.
Yeah, I'm good too.
I don't - I don't need a shower.
- Hm.
Well, looks like both of you could do with a good scrub.
No, Mom, I'm not a workaholic.
It's just this is the only time I can get it done, when I'm alone.
(CHUCKLING) Promise.
See you soon.
Hello, Vaani.
Milo! You scared me.
What are you doing here? You're done answering my calls, so I had to surprise you.
Still doesn't mean you can just show up at my work.
Still handcuffed to you work.
What are you doing? You're handcuffed to your work.
So am I.
When people hear the name Tucker, they need to think success.
Now, they hear Tommy Ross, they think woman-beating coward.
Yeah, not everybody thinks that.
No, no, some of them just think woman beater.
Some just coward.
(CHUCKLING) Ohh - Now that is what I am talking about! - Sharp.
You wants me to go to a press conference dressed like this? Oh no, not yet.
You gotta earn it first.
Start doing a few squats.
Go into a deep squat, and then, you take this and you work it up in a place where the sun don't shine, as deep as ever you can get it, then you clench and book it right across town.
- Deadly on the core.
- Yeah, I've done that one, man.
It's brutal, but it works.
(EXHALING) - Yeah, I'm not doing that.
- Tommy, Tommy, plenty of folks running around town with stuff jammed up their holes.
Don't be so prideful.
Yeah, pride goeth before the fall, and if the cops stop ya and you don't have this shoved up your GI tract, then you know what people are gonna say? They're gonna say: "That woman-beating coward.
He pussed out again.
" I'll take my chances, alright? Good.
'Cause I got a lot of pent-up resentment against you still and I'm trying to work through it in a healthy way, you know, but I'm not I'm not really through the process yet, you know, so don't disappoint me, OK? (SLAP) On your way.
Jesus, I gotta get out of this before the press conference.
Tucker's boy.
Come on.
Go on.
- Where's the kibbles? - What? Gimme the kibbles, son.
I've been waiting all afternoon.
My arthritis is acting up.
Here.
(SNIFFING) I hope that wasn't up your back passage.
Come on.
Um, listen, I gotta run.
Aha, Tommy Ross has to run away.
Now, imagine that.
Listen, I know all about you.
Tucker tells me everything.
And you haven't even got a girlfriend.
You used to go out with that one, Pamela.
Yeah, I know all about it.
- OK, listen, I gotta go.
- Ugh, you won't get your paws on the likes of that again, now will ya? No, you won't.
Not bloody likely.
OK, I'm leaving now.
Look, I can't stir with my arthritis.
Give it a go, will ya? (SIGHING) A man like you needs a good woman by his side.
People might take you seriously then.
Hey, I'm available.
OK, I think we're good here.
Is Tommy with you guys? We thought he was with you.
He's gonna be a no-show tonight, is he? We'll be a laughing stock for the next five years.
Nan, he'll be here.
- Yeah? - [WHAT'S TAKING YOU SO LONG?.]
It's all good.
I made the drop.
I'm headed back now.
- [YEAH, REENA, SHE'S A DOLL.
.]
- Yeah.
- [I GOTTA MAKE A QUICK STOP.
.]
- Get a move on, Tommy.
[SHIT THE BED AGAIN.
.]
Don't puss out now.
Milo, I need you to go.
You are a mean, bossy, controlling person and I need you to get out! I'm not leaving until you take me back! That is never going to happen! - So just get out! - Hey, what the fuck is going on here? - Clinic's closed, OK? - Hi, Tommy.
Maybe you can help me - escort this man out of the building.
- My pleasure.
What, you know this guy? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Are you sleeping with him? - I guess loneliness has made you easy, huh? - Come on, Milo.
- - Oh, my God! OK, OK, stop it, stop it! Stop it! That's the only way to deal with fellas like that.
I don't even know what to say.
- Milo, are you OK? - Look, I'm sorry.
I was just coming here to say sorry for disappearing the other night.
- Here.
- Just don't, Tommy.
Go away.
Sit up.
I'll stitch your damn face.

This morning when I woke up, my left hand spoke with my right hand and it said: "You know, sometimes we don't see eye to eye.
Sometimes we may want different things.
But you see, Tommy Ross, he got us coming together like this.
" You see these hands, bonded into cannons, ready to carpet-bomb Tommy Ross with Havoc? Now they dancin', they dancin' together so well, these hands, they dancin', they makin' Rico's feet look jealous, my goodness! Whoo! Now, if Little Dog even dares to show up, my fists just might fight at each other to get at him.
Now, Rico ain't no dentist.
But he knows how to play one in the ring.
That's because Rico's a champion.
The prettiest kind, the only kind, - the best kind - The shitty kind! (LAUGHTER) The only reason you wanna fight Tommy now is 'cause you know that five years ago he would've won - if he didn't walk out.
- He can't talk to Rico like this.
- But-but-but-that's not right.
- Bah-bah-bah-bah-bah - bit of a speech problem.
- (LAUGHTER) Can someone get that Ross kid out of here? If you wanna take this outside we can take this outside anytime! Here we go again.
There you go.
Honest rage is exhilarating.

Rico's a big man.
Excuse me, Mr.
Havoc? These are for you.
Ooh Let me see those? Ooh, that's some tasty treats right there, girl.
You know, Rico's got a soft spot for sugar.

- You're goddamn right I am.
- Anything you say may be used as evidence against you.
You think Rico is a hard case? You think he's, uh think he's a badass? Well, uh, they don't want me out roaming the streets.
They're too afraid to have me out in public.
Yeah, I'd pretty much pretty much just kill a man for looking at me the wrong way.
I don't know what I'm gonna do! I'm like a caged animal, man.
I don't know what I'm gonna do! I don't know what I'm gonna do! I'm like a caged animal, man! I don't know if I'll make it as far as Thanksgiving without killing someone! Why don't you do us all a favour and stay in there! The next few years, at least! It's gonna be alright
