Sunrise Festival,
also known as SunFest,
is a parade that is put on
annually by the concert bands
of the prefecture's
various high schools.
-Bass section's next.
-Yes, yes, yes!
[KUMIKO] The different
concert bands perform marches,
like we plan to do next week,
or they play pieces
in various formations.
A lot of students
will apply to high schools
with well-known concert bands
just based on what
the uniforms look like.
Listen up, everyone.
The field is available
for the band to use today,
so we'll practice outside!
After you try on your uniforms,
get into tracksuits
-and on the field!

the face of the band.

Everyone really wanted Asuka
to be the president
of the band,
but Asuka's not into
taking those kinds of roles.
She doesn't like it.
She didn't even want
to be the vice president.

But she really seems like
such a natural leader though.
I guess you don't always
necessarily end up
liking the things
you're good at.
Anyway, compared to last year,
things have changed
a whole lot around here.
We barely practiced
our marching
until right before the day of
the Sunrise Festival last year.

Ever since the day we played
the "Marines' Hymn"
as an ensemble,
the band's mood
has drastically shifted.
We went from saying,
"It doesn't matter
how hard we try,"
to, "We'll be able to improve
if we put in the effort."
It's pretty simple really.
We work hard when we
know we'll be rewarded for it,
and if we feel like
we're getting better,
we try to work even harder.
[whistle blowing]
[ASUKA]
All right, guys, fall in.
And don't forget how
those last steps felt.
We don't have much time
before SunFest next week,
so we have to focus at practice
tomorrow, too.

We're able to carry
the smaller instruments
ourselves,
but the bigger instruments
are brought to the venue
by a truck.
The people in charge
of packing the instruments
instruct us
on how to load them.
It's a lot of heavy lifting.
Our male band members
are crucial
at times like these.

-[groaning]
