My Brother the Minotaur (2026) s01e07 Episode Script
Episode 7
1
[ship horn blares]
[dog barking]
Ahoy there!
Ahoy, my good man.
[whines]
[groaning]
[straining, grunting]
[growls]
[gasps] What in the world?
[roars]
[gasps, screams]
[grunts]
[breathing heavily]
See you now.
[dog barking]
Huh?
I got it. There he goes. He's off again.
That's odd.
Where's my coat, boy?
[grunts]
[groaning]
Lousy human legs.
[grunts]
What's this?
In my dream, where my minotaur father
was asking for my help,
there was a giant blue eye
hanging in the sky, watching over me.
-What do you think it means?
-How should I know?
You heard what Chief Walker said.
I'm just a kid playing detective.
Who cares what Chief Walker said?
I need to find my father.
How? We're grounded for life, remember?
-We can't just give up. We need a plan.
-[Clara] A plan for what?
[both] Nothing.
That's right,
because you're both grounded for life.
Told you.
[Archie]
Besides, we already have plans for you.
Charlie,
your grandfather's waiting outside.
You'll be helping out
at the Social Club today.
[sighs]
[stammers] Not you, Lorcan.
You'll be working with me at the diner.
But--
Whatever.
-[sighs]
-Fine. I'll come up with my own plan.
[breathes heavily]
Oh! [groans]
Knock knock.
Can I help you?
I'm looking for a room.
This is a hotel, right?
[clicks tongue] Well, yes.
Or at least it used to be.
But they don't allow visitors
on the island anymore.
You really shouldn't be here.
Rex Omnibus,
reporter for The Mainland Echo.
Hear me out.
I think you'll be glad I stopped by.
-I've never been grounded before.
-Oh, you'll love it.
If you feel like you're not
getting enough boredom,
it's the perfect opportunity to catch up.
Oh. Looks like Charlie's serving his time
at the Social Club too.
[stammers] I don't know if I can do this.
What are you talking about?
You've been here plenty of times.
Yeah, but never for the whole day.
I'm not very good at social.
Old people are easy.
Just smile, say something cute
and wait for that sweet, sweet candy.
[door closes]
[inhales sharply]
It's really dark in here.
What does it matter
when we've got Tilda's smile
to light up the room?
Take a seat, children.
[gasps] Are you being cute yet?
Super cute. Something's wrong here.
-What's going on?
-I have no idea.
It's time you kids knew the truth.
I'm starting to think
we should've brought our own candy.
[laughing] A minotaur boy?
Well,
that's the craziest thing I've ever heard.
You can drop the act.
The islanders did a pretty good job
of keeping him a secret,
but I've seen the not-so-mythical creature
for myself.
[slurps]
You have?
I thought they were just wild rumors.
Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him.
Lorcan, isn't it?
I'm looking at the story
of the century here.
All I need is an interview,
just me and the boy.
[sighs] Problem is, as an outsider,
I can't get anywhere near him.
And?
And I need you to set it up.
Me? Oh, the boy hates me,
and I'm not particularly fond
of him either.
What makes you think
I could talk him into it?
And why should I?
Tourism.
I don't follow.
If I get my interview, the whole world
will know about the minotaur boy.
They will come here
in their thousands just to see him.
And stay here at my hotel.
Make it happen today
and the article will be out in time
for your Midsummer Moon Festival.
That's-- That's less than a week away.
I could turn it into a three-day event,
with guided tours.
And did someone say,
"historical reenactment"?
But if the islanders find out
I had anything to do with this--
Nobody will ever know.
A good reporter
never reveals their sources.
Of course, I'll understand if you feel you
owe it to them to keep the boy a secret.
Owe it to them?
I could have turned their island
into a gold mine,
and they threw it back in my face.
That's what I thought.
Now, you might want to write this down.
Ooh! [groaning]
-Everything all right, Dad?
-Never better. [chuckles]
This is more than just a social club.
This is the meeting place of The Elders.
Who are The Elders?
A secret group
of highly skilled individuals
sworn to protect the island
and monitor the gateway
between our world and The Other Side.
-You know about the gateway?
-And The Other Side?
We have for some time now.
-Mom?
-Dad?
Hello, Dana.
Hey there, Harpie.
No way.
How could you not tell us?
We tell you everything.
Really? Your mum knows
about the goose and the golf cart?
This isn't the time.
We wanted to tell you.
Really, we did, but it was safer this way.
For Lorcan, for you, for the island.
I think I need a moment here.
You know what this means.
[gasps] Our parents are cool.
-No. It means we can't trust anybody.
-Dana's right.
We did some crazy dangerous things
just to find out
what you've known all along!
[Olivia] Yes, dear.
And the last thing we want is you
putting yourselves in any more danger.
Which is why we can't keep quiet
any longer.
We're gonna tell you everything we know.
But then we'll need your help.
To stop Lorcan
from searching for his father.
But why?
George.
There was a time, a thousand years ago,
when humans, minotaurs and fairies
lived together in peace.
[Harper] Did he say fairies?
[Olivia] Let him finish, dear.
[George] A time when Bryony Island
was an active gateway
between our world and theirs.
Until a dark energy took hold
of The Other Side.
[growls]
[George] A deadly parasite,
feeding off the land
and twisting the minds of the minotaurs.
Turning them into a warmongering horde
to help its deathly spread.
[minotaurs cheering]
[George] And under the influence
of the dark energy,
the minotaur empire soon seized control
of The Other Side…
[George]
…before setting its sights on our world.
[people screaming]
[George] With the help of the fairies,
we managed to push them back.
But the humans knew
it was only a matter of time
before the minotaurs tried again
and succeeded.
The fairies returned to The Other Side,
determined to defend their home.
And the gateway was sealed.
The Elders were appointed
to make sure it stayed that way.
That responsibility, handed down
from generation to generation,
now rests on our shoulders.
Didn't you say we shouldn't keep secrets
from one another?
Because this seems like a biggie, Mom.
Your name is "Mom", isn't it?
We had no choice.
We were sworn to secrecy.
For Lorcan's sake.
Why? What does all of this have to do
with Lorcan?
Twelve years ago,
the minotaur king and queen had a child.
Lorcan.
Yes.
So, he's, like, a prince?
[inhales sharply] He would've been.
-[George] But Lorcan was born weak…
-[coughing]
…and vulnerable.
And the king didn't consider him
a worthy successor
to his bloodthirsty throne.
Unable to accept
the king's brutal decision,
the queen took their baby
and made an escape so daring…
no one believed they survived.
They were taken in
by the kindhearted fairies.
But the queen knew
as long as the king was alive,
her baby would never be safe
on The Other Side.
[minotaurs growl]
[George] So she took Lorcan to a place
where the king would never find him.
The gateway between our worlds was opened
for the first time in a thousand years.
And Lorcan was placed in our care.
Forever indebted to the fairies
for saving her baby's life,
the queen returned to The Other Side
to join them in their struggle
against the dark energy.
Poor Lorcan. He has no idea.
I feel like my head's going to explode.
So Lorcan's mother wasn't abandoning him.
She was saving his life.
And this is why we must stop Lorcan
from finding his father.
Lorcan's life depends upon it.
The king can never know he's still alive.
He already does.
I know you're still angry,
but what do you say we call a truce?
Sorry, I forgot.
McCreadys are fixers not fighters. Right?
[stammers] It might sound goofy,
but give it a chance, Lorcan.
Not everything needs to be a battle.
[door opens, closes]
[Lorcan]
Maybe some things are worth fighting for.
[Craignelder] You're quite the artist.
What do you want?
What I want is irrelevant.
The burning question is, what do you want?
We knew minotaurs could communicate
through their dreams,
but we never thought Lorcan's father
would try to reach him.
Why would he? He didn't know he was alive.
-Until now.
-But how?
We all need to calm down.
Even if he wanted to…
Lorcan can't open the gateway
without the amulet.
And we've been searching the island
for years and never found it.
But we did.
You've got the amulet?
Not exactly.
But we deduced it's
in the celestial map room
below the ruins by Aill Wood.
[Charlie] But we were wrong.
[both] We were?
I've seen that amulet before.
Lorcan's had it all along!
What do you mean "no"?
After all the islanders have sacrificed
to keep me hidden, to keep me safe,
you really think I'd do an interview
with some reporter for his newspaper?
But he's offering you fame and fortune.
Is that what you think I want?

Goodbye, Mr. Craignelder.
No, wait. [grunts]
He told me to tell you that…
[stammers] …if you'll meet with him,
he can… [groans] …"Open doors for you.
Show you a whole new world.
Make your dreams come true."
Basically what I was saying.
Open doors to a new world?
Make my dreams come true?
Where does he wanna meet?
It's all there on the back.
The time, the place.
And some sort of childhood toy
he wants you to bring along.
That's it. Hurry on now!
[groans] Creepy kid.
[George] So the amulet to another world
is in a shoebox? In your bedroom?
We didn't know it was the amulet
and Lorcan still doesn't,
so it's perfectly safe. I hope.
We found the ancient verse
in the Relic Room.
It says,
"A crown will fall and an heir will rise."
Is Lorcan the heir?
We believe so.
[all] Whoa.
This is so much bigger than we thought.
Yeah. Lorcan's, like, some kind of hero
with this awesome destiny.
And many enemies determined
to see him fail.
Ooh! [sighs]
The amulet was right here!
What is going on?
Mum, have you seen Lorcan?
No. But your father just called
to ask me the same question.
Apparently,
he's disappeared from the diner.
Looks like he used the window.
I think I know where Lorcan's going.
"Meet me at Aill Wood."
Oh, why does it have to be there?
Nothing good ever happens there.
Let's go.
Would somebody please tell me
what's going on?
[Charlie]
Who do you think Lorcan's going to meet?
[George] I don't know. But whoever it is,
they know about the gateway,
and that can't be good.
Ah. I was starting to think
you weren't coming.
Opening doors to other worlds?
Making dreams come true?
You were talking about my father
and The Other Side, weren't you?
Whoa! [chuckles]
Somebody's keen and straight to the point.
