Oh, Alix

[pensive electronic music playing]
-[TJ] What's going on?
-[Todd] Good to see you.
Don't yell at me today. How are you?
[Alix] I've seriously never needed
to be home more in my life.
What are you guys…?
We need to have a serious intervention
because I don't know what to do.
[Ashley] What the fuck is going on?
I sent out a video this morning of,
"What can I post?"
'Cause of what's going on
with Alex Cooper now.
-I said to everyone, "I'm on it."
-Like a response, right?.
I play my song… ♪
[Alix] Alex Cooper posted a video
where she directly called me out.
The worst part about this is
since I got back from Coachella,
I haven't had time to actually sit down,
collect my thoughts and make a plan.
I feel like I'm being baited
into saying something.
So then I'm like,
"What do you have up your sleeve
that you're trying to trick me with?"
All you have to say is,
"There is some bad blood."
-"Things didn't work out how I thought."
-Then I just look like a big fat liar.
She did make a comment
about me not signing an NDA.
So I could say whatever I want,
but I stayed quiet for so long
because I am scared of Alex Cooper.
I found out that, um,
I was no longer working with Unwell
through the media, so…
I'm, like, just intimidated.
I don't know what she's gonna do
or how she's gonna twist things.
I always hope that, like… karma
or something would do its thing one day.
And, um…
[tense, pensive music playing]
…karma's taking a while.
[laughs mirthlessly]
But then there's the whole internet
being like, "Tell us what's going on."
We're at war. I mean, Alix versus Alex.
I mean, it's tough.
Do you mind explaining
what your feud is even about?
There's no NDA, Alix. Say it.
Okay, so I'm on it.
It's literally coming out. I'm saying it.
I would love to just come online
and tell you,
but, like, it's not that easy
'cause I'm afraid of her.
Because there is such a groundswell
on the internet over this topic,
I feel it's inappropriate at this point
to address it on social media.
This post brought up
a lot of feeling in me,
because it was like,
"Hey, girl, what's the problem?"
And…
"You. You're the problem."
I do think Alex Cooper's coming off
a little desperate right now.
I don't like her. I don't like her aura.
Whatever you say can just be, like,
twisted and turned and used against you.
I think Alex Cooper's a bully,
and you're trying to scare her,
that you'll bring her down.
No one's going to bring my daughter down
because she's a standup person.
It looks like I don't have a story to say.
Don't-- I don't think
you should say something.
[Ashley] Not everything
requires a response all the time.
-I think you look like the bigger person.
-Well said.
-This is coming from Ashley.
-Yeah.
-Yeah.
-[all laugh]
[tense music playing]
I feel like I'm just gonna
rip my hair out of my head
because I'm so stressed out
and full of emotions.
And I think people look at this
and they just think
that it's, like, fun,
petty drama for them.
It's a scary feeling
when, like, everyone on the internet
is, like, waiting on you to say something.
And I don't want to speak just
out of emotion and, like, attack someone
and not, like, take a moment
to think three steps ahead,
because she probably is.
[music fades]
Can someone just fill me in
on how this all started?
Where did it go wrong,
even from the start?
Why is she mad at you?
Why is she involved in your world at all?
Because they worked together for a year,
year and a half, whatever it was.
And it was not
a great working relationship.
It was constantly, like, thing after thing
working together that, like, wasn't--
They were a startup company at the time,
so things weren't gonna go great.
But, like, there was
just constantly issues or, like--
It just wasn't run properly.
And it wasn't what I was promised
or told that it was gonna be like
working with them.
You know, one of the primary reasons
that we ultimately ended up
going with Unwell for Alix's podcast was,
one, because she looked up to Alex Cooper,
and, two, Alex Cooper would be
able to mentor Alix in the business.
In the podcasting business. Right?
And show her, you know,
how to put together a show,
and give her all the resources, um,
to produce and develop a great show.
We knew what they promised us,
and then when they came in
way below what they promised us,
we were kinda like, "I guess this is
how you produce a podcast."
You sit on your bed
with a camera that they sent you
and you film it yourself.
-There's no production crew, nothing.
-Your suitcase.
-All your cameras, your microphones.
-It's a little bit like we're operating…
-That's where I think they took advantage.
-They didn't give her any aid or help.
We come to find out,
because Alix has other friends
that do podcasts,
that they're actually given real resources
to produce a show.
They have a producer,
they have people helping them film
and set up lighting and things like that.
Alix had none of that,
she was doing it by herself.
Traveling around
with suitcases full of cameras
and then setting them all up by herself.
So you have the show,
then the revenue that comes into the show,
and then the expenses
get taken out of the revenue,
and what's left over is your profit.
Now, that gets split
between Alix and Unwell.
So there was no expenses
because they have Alix doing everything.
I don't care about the money or contracts.
-He's getting-- It's-- Like, they took--
-[Alisa] All the lead up to what happened.
Then, once we worked with them again,
because I felt pressured
into signing with them again,
so I did,
they said, "Okay,
hire your own people for the show,
we're taking everyone off."
They didn't invite me to events,
they didn't talk to me,
they didn't come up to meetings anymore.
It was just, like, why am I paying you
to do something I'm not even happy doing,
and you're not even giving me any support,
and I feel scared of you?
It's also she wants
to be looked at as number one.
I know, but there's, like, personality,
and then there's, like, work things.
And both things went wrong.
For example, like, from the start,
I didn't realize things were going wrong
because I was, like, obsessed with her.
I was like, this is my idol,
I'm so happy to work with her.
And then constantly
felt taken advantage of,
and used, and mistreated, and manipulated,
and things like we're filming her podcast,
and she's having us drink before,
and then asking me really sexual questions
I wasn't comfortable with.
But then I'm also answering
'cause I'm drunk.
-I'm imagining myself in her shoes.
-[tense music playing]
To, like, take someone in college,
who's young, impressionable,

Which I was definitely
a little uncomfortable with.
-We're gonna play Truth or Drink.

your freshman year of college?
[tense music continues]
What is your best skill in the bedroom?
Okay, are you an anal virgin?
Part of that was stuff I had asked
to be taken out after the interview.
And she was like,
"Oh, I think it's so funny."
And it's stuff that I didn't necessarily
want to live on the internet forever.
So that definitely hurt me…
Or, it hurts now.
In the moment, I just was like,
"She's looking out for me."
Look, what I was thinking,
which makes me so sad for,
like, me at that time
is, like, I was so happy.
And, like, I trusted her so much,
and all she did was just shit on it,
and it sucks.
And it's like--
And the things she put out there,
stuff, like, I can never take back.
-My kids will see it.
-[poignant music playing]
-[Alisa] No one's gonna see it.
-It took a toll on all of us.
After that interview,
when we talked about,
like, our family experience,
I cried to her and was like,
"Thanks, this meant so much to me."
"I really looked up to you.
I'm so happy I got to share this story."
And, like, it just, like, makes me feel
like a fucking loser.
I was so excited and happy, and I thought
I was doing something so good,
and I did something
so hurtful to all of us.
[Ashley] When Alix went on Call Her Daddy
and brought up, you know,
all of the things from my past,
I felt like I lost my spark.
Because, you know,
for 17 years, I've literally…
have worked so hard on my life.
About, like, just… doing the right thing
by my stepkids, by my kids.
I really wanna be specific of, like,
I'm not mad at what she said, it was--
[man] More of what she left out?
Yes.
I think that was
just the hardest moment in my life.
And if there was ever a time
where I felt like giving up,
it was definitely at that moment.
Because I am a good person,
I have been a great stepmom.
[music fades]

that Alex Cooper is now coming for her.
