that you got into group A,

it isn't unusual
for an upperclassman
to be rejected in favor
of a more talented
younger member.
But whether or not
the rest of the concert band
accepts the results
without any pushback,

Straight Trumpet

Three minutes,
twenty-five seconds.
Then that tempo was perfect
for the song we'll be playing.
[NOBORU] In the competition,
all performances
are twelve minutes.
Meaning we can't play
too slowly,
or we'll exceed our time limit.
Conversely, we don't want
to ruin the piece
by rushing it, either.
We must all do our best
not to forget that pace.
And if we can do that, we'll be
well within the time limit.
-[ORCHESTRA] Yes!
-[NOBORU] All right, everyone.
[NOBORU]

[ORCHESTRA]

The place where we perform
will be many times larger

that whole space with sound.

in mind at all times.

Before we start,

you knew Reina Kousaka
before she was a member
of the Kituaji concert band?

you might have been playing
favorites at the audition,

but their talent, Yuuko.

a fair evaluation.

and found out that Mister Taki
was going to teach

to play favorites,

that the whole audition
was a set-up by Mr. Taki
just so Reina
could play the solo.

Despite the rising suspicions.
Mister Taki maintained
his silence.
But that had a way
of making it look
like he was covering up
the issue,

band members more suspicious.

about the band's mood?

she should give up her solo?

of course, I don't like it,
but I'm worried that maybe
it might be necessary.

Reina didn't do anything wrong.

we can't play in ensemble.

none of the horns and clarinets
are focused at all.
It seems like everyone's
doubting themselves right now.
Well, Haruka tried
to talk them down
at the section-leader meeting,
but it seems like no one
can trust Mister Taki now.
If we're just gonna
get bronze again,
Hazuki and I may as well
have played in the competition
with you!
Why the auditions?
Well I know Haruka is doing
everything she possibly can.

I totally bet if we tell Asuka,
she'll be able
to convince them!

about that leadership stuff.

with the audition results.

she's trying to get sympathy.
I guess it's just herself
that she can't accept.

the best that she can.

in retaking them.
-[orchestra gasping]
-[NOBORU] If you weren't happy
with the last audition
and want to try again,
please raise your hand now.
But, next week when you play,
it'll be in front
of the whole band
and we'll decide based on
a count of hands.
We'll make the choice
as a group.
That will leave no room
for objections.
