But I'd like to see you, District

Court is in recess.
Looks like our unknown perpetrator
from the hospital was shot here, falls.
- Mm-hmm.
- But who shot him?
This guy the gun shop owner, Hal
Dinsmore doesn't have a gun on him.
Actually, he does. Nine-mil Glock,
in the desk drawer left open.
Why would he leave his
gun in his desk drawer
if he's in a shoot-out with this guy?
Well, the blood trails from here
to there to where he is now.
So, maybe Hal Dinsmore
is here at his desk,
hears the crash of the break-in,
goes for the gun in the drawer.
The bad guy comes into the office
doorway, they exchange fire,
and for some reason, he puts it back?
Makes sense.

guy who's shooting at you?
Right.

that shot Hal Dinsmore.
And there's the muzzle
flashes from the office.
OPERATOR: 911. What's your emergency?
HAL: I shot someone.
I can't feel a pulse.
[Velcro ripping]
That's the Kevlar vest being removed.
OPERATOR: Sir, what's your name?
HAL: He's not breathing.
[panting]: One, two, three.
He's performing chest compressions.
DANNY: So, Hal's trying
to save the perp's life.
Probably knelt down,
which would explain how he got
the blood all over his clothes and knees.
OPERATOR: Sir, can you tell me your name?
- Are you alone?
- HAL: Hal.
He hasn't even mentioned
that he got shot.
OPERATOR: Hal, paramedics are
on their way to your location.
HAL: Please hurry.
They got to get here. I
I can't do this much longer, I'm
- I'm tired.
- He's dying.
OPERATOR: Are you injured, Hal? Hal?
I'm right here with you.
Stay with me. Hello?
Hal, are you still there?
Hal?
[playback stops]
So, Hal Dinsmore died trying to
save the life of the man who shot him.
His family should know.
We're still trying to locate
extended family and relatives.

Both of his parents are deceased.
Lived alone, never married, only child.

- Uhp.
I got an ID from the serial
number on the Kevlar vest.
So, the man who shot Hal
Dinsmore is Reese Camotta.
We should head to Boston General
and see if we can talk to him.
No, hold up, guys. There were
complications in the surgery.
The blood type on the vest
does not match that of the suspect.
So, it wasn't the suspect's vest?
So, our John Doe is not Reese.
Is he conscious?
Just got out of surgery, in the ICU.
- Heavily sedated.
- I'll be there when he wakes up.
Okay, and why don't I talk to
the actual owner of the vest,
this Reese Camotta guy,

So, you have an alibi from between
the hours of 2:00 and 5:00?
Yeah. Well, I clean the
bar after it closes.
- Alone?
- Alone.
That's too bad.
Want to tell me why your Kevlar vest
was at my crime scene?
I don't know.
And I don't know why you have my vest.
I didn't do anything wrong.
That's funny.
'Cause you're the prime suspect

the life of the man wearing your vest.

Brother, this is Auto Theft's case now.
What are you doing? It wasn't enough for
you to make Mrs. Avner try on that shoe?
Hear me out, okay?
How was the engine started
without the key present?
Those guys in Cyber said
they detected no digital trace
of the thief manipulating the electrical
or operating system of the vehicle

which would mean that this thief invented
an entirely new way of stealing cars.
Doesn't that make you

But now that you bring it up,
it would be fun to see

It's that file on your suspect.
- Thank you.
- Yeah.
Ray-Ray, hang on.
Younger brother Dylan, expired license,
no recent job records. Three months ago,
Reese paid bail for Dylan in
Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
No sign of him.
Thought for sure we'd find
an accomplice in this.
Um
Come with me, Ray-Ray.
Hey, I-I'm not answering any
of your questions, Detective.
- I asked for a lawyer.
- Your lawyer's on his way.
I'm not here to talk to you.
I needed somewhere quiet
- to speak with Officer Rayford.
- Yeah.
So, Ray-Ray, I'm thinking this kid Dylan
is Reese's younger brother.
And Reese lied earlier
just to protect him.
- Sure, I get that.
- And he's probably worried now,
though, because he's thinking,
"Was Dylan the one
who got wounded in the Kevlar vest?"
RAYFORD: Ah, I see. So, he
wants to know if he's okay or not.
I'm not talking, Detective.
Will you mind your business?
Yeah. I mean, Reese has to be thinking,
"Was Dylan the one the gun
shop owner tried to save
and is now fighting for his
life at Boston General?"
But you can't tell him
if it's Dylan or not
- because he lawyered up.
- Right.
DANNY: Reese could waive
his right to an attorney,
and I could bring him to the hospital
- to see if it's Dylan.
- Sure. That's what I would do.
- Right?
- Yeah.
I don't want a lawyer.
I don't want a lawyer.
I want to see my brother.
Okay.
Then we'll go to the hospital
and see if it's your brother,
and you're gonna tell me
everything I want to know.
- DANNY: Hey.
- Hey.
Still hasn't woken up yet.
Take a look.
[monitor beeping steadily]
That's not my brother.
Oh, thank God, that's not Dylan.
You got to be kidding me.
Well, do you know this man?
REESE: No.
I never seen that man before in my life.
[clears throat]
All right, uh, well, we still recovered
your vest at the scene.
So, if you didn't bring it there,
then Dylan had to, right?
I mean, yeah, it's possible.
We have to find your brother.
You got to give us something.
He's the key to stopping these guys
before they kill somebody else.
- Okay, where would Dylan go to lay low?
- Uh, he was all over the place.
Doing drugs and sleeping all day.
I-I threw him out.
Thought he'd man up, you know?
I shouldn't have given up on him.
Okay. We're gonna need to see the room
he was staying at at your house.
Yeah. Yeah, okay.
- Give us a second.
- Yeah.
So, our John Doe is still a John Doe.
Yeah, and Dylan Camotta's out
planning his next gun robbery.
- Hey.
- Hey Hey!
How did you convince Danny
to stop at Blended for lunch?
It was his idea, actually.
Mmm. What's going on with him?
I know, right?
He says that he's on this health kick,
but I got a theory.
'Cause my man just bought
$200 running shoes.
No.
- No. You don't think
- Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm. He's only been here a year.
Every transplant thinks he can hack it.
Not the Boston Marathon, though.
That's such a tourist move.
Seth did it, didn't he?
Well, tourist moves can still be cute.
- [laughs]
- Right. Right.
- So, Phoebe came by before.
- Mm-hmm.
- Wanted to see if you're all good.
- Yeah.
Yeah, she just wants to move
in with us, no big deal.
- I'm sorry, what?
- Yeah.
Her mom is moving to Japan,
and she wants to move
in with us full-time.
The three of us are discussing
it tonight at an early dinner.
That's a good thing, though, right?
I love Phoebe.
But, you know, car pool pickups
and losing the second bathroom,
and not being able to have sex
- whenever you want
- Thank you. Okay.
You got to imagine the gains,
though, right?
When I met Seth, I knew
Phoebe was part of the deal,
but it was shared custody.
Now her mom is forcing the issue.
It was bound to get messy.
Becoming a full-time parent?
That scares me, Lena.
Besides, I promised
Phoebe I would never,
ever replace her mother,
and it just feels like
that's exactly what I'm doing.
But Seth is, like, the perfect guy.
He checks all the boxes.
What?
It's the boxes.
I have been staring at these photos
and surveillance video for half a day
trying to find some clue to help us,
and I've got it.
The one constant is they always
remove the guns from the boxes.
Right, because why wouldn't you
just pick up the entire box
and load it into your vehicle?
There's QR codes here.
Some companies use these
to tag their inventory.
Okay. It's sending me to a
site for Sanborn Shipping.
Same. Dinsmore Gun shop and
the locations in Essex County
all had gun deliveries
from Sanborn Shipping.
That's what they have in common.
And this isn't just a link to
their website, it's a tracker.
That's why they're taking the guns out of
the boxes, they don't want to be tracked.
Yeah, but someone would
have to know that.
That means that one of the robbers
is an inside guy from Sanborn Shipping.
And the perps would only go to the shops
where the guns were just delivered.
Regina, I need a list
of all of the employees
at Sanborn Shipping and the gun shops
that they deliver to here in Boston.
- [mouths]
- You know, I am really good.
Reese Camotta paid his
brother Dylan's bail in Pittsburgh.
I reached out to my old man's
friends in Allegheny County,
who said that Dylan was arrested
with a guy named Allen Cavallo,
who could be our Kevlar vest-wearing
perp in the hospital.
Allen works for a
shipping company called
- Sanborn Shipping?
- Yes.
Allen's our inside guy.
Okay. You two are good.
[laughs]
So, the BMW's GPS said it was parked here
for two and a half hours
before Kathleen pulled it over.
You steal a car for a joyride
or strip it for parts and abandon it.
Who steals a car, parks it for two hours
and then drives it back towards the
neighborhood where they jacked it?
There's nothing around here anyway.
[woman whoops, chatters in distance]
Except for that club.
Looks like the kind of place a girl would
wear fancy shoes like the one we found.
Who steals a car to go clubbing?
- Just take an Uber.
- Mm.
WOMAN: Hey, queens. Welcome back.
- Oh.
- Oh.
John Doe's face wasn't in any database.
I checked missing persons.
No prints on file,
no juvenile record of any kind.
Nothing that can point
us to his identity.
He doesn't even have a
Massachusetts driver's license.
And a pretty gutsy move for
your first criminal act.
Holding up a gun shop?
I get the feeling like this
kid got involved in something
that turned bad really fast.
In the surveillance footage,
he went straight
to Hal's office, he didn't even
attempt to steal a single gun.
Maybe he got caught up in something or
maybe he's cold-blooded and calculated.
He pulled the trigger.
Well, regardless, he's someone's child.
Or friend.
Someone should know
he's in the hospital.
Well, we find Dylan Camotta,
we'll find out who he is.
[phone vibrates]
LENA: Oh, it's Phoebe.
- Goodness, is that food?

it's very simple.
Detective Langley stated very clearly
that he interviewed the prisoner Kyle
Tillman as a witness, not a suspect.
When Tillman incriminated himself,
the interview stopped,
Mr. Tillman was read his rights.
The defense argues that the entire
interview was a custodial interrogation,
yet Mr. Tillman was in the custody of
the county prison, not Detective Langley.
Mr. Tillman could've walked right
out of that interview anytime he wanted.
Therefore, the statement is admissible
in the murder trial of Carolyn DeSoto.
