The Animals of Farthing Wood (1993) s01e12 Episode Script

Pandemonium

Nothing but fields stood between the animals of Farthingwood and our goal, the nature reserve
of white deer park, but the fields were silent, poison.
So Fox, Fixon, Whistler and Owl, ventured into a nearby town, foraging for food.
It tastes a bit odd, but it's fish all right.
I led the rest of the party to fresh fields, where butterflies flew, and we were safe again.
Until the farmer started his deadly spraying.
We don't have to go through the field at all.
What?
White deer park is just the other way to that town!
So that's what we're going to do.
Go through the town.
We can't go through the town.
Don't.
I'm amazed at you.
I never realised how far you'd come.
Nothing to it may ease.
Good journey.
Remarkable.
Well we'll be there soon.
We nearly at the town square.
Once over that.
Oh no, not thunder.
That's all we need.
Step on the crack.
Right you father's back.
Step on the line.
You're doing fine.
Sorry.
Thought you were a crack in the pavement.
Then you shud.
Step done me.
You'll get bad luck.
Not me.
I'm the luckiest weasel in the whole wide world.
The luckiest weasel.
What did I tell you?
Come on everyone.
We must clear the town before the storm breaks.
Right.
Oh, a height thunder.
Ruins the nerves.
They say, work out.
Now come on my ears.
Heat only a drop of rain.
They're taking too long.
The small animals are going to be in real trouble.
Don't worry.
If the worst comes to the worst, we'll just have to find shelter somewhere.
Tressed out to find shelter.
Did you see how weasel?
I didn't see anything.
Hurry up if you don't want a drown.
Come on.
You're holding everyone out.
Where are those birds?
Settling in for the night.
Just getting a bird's eye view of the situation.
Keeping nice and dry too.
And just what are you suggesting?
Which way?
Down panic!
I think they need some help.
The fool.
I ask you.
What can he do?
It's alright.
It's only me who go that way.
Thank you very much.
Come along, Buzzer.
Weasel, open your eyes.
We very helping Weasel.
You should be helping me.
At least Whistler's managed to come into his own.
Look, he's fishing.
Oh, don't you, Buzzer.
I know I will.
No, you won't.
You're any sneezing because you got sprayed.
I'm not getting sprayed again now.
This is no good.
I'm going to find some shelter.
You stay here.
Try and keep them calm.
Good luck.
Why is an owl open?
Thee who distances himself from worldly concerns is blessed indeed.
Thee who distance renders him detached.
And detachment renders worldly suffering meaningless.
There she goes.
Yes, sir.
Sorry I was so long. All the shop doorways are barred.
There's nothing for it. We've got to make for the church.
Right. Mate for the church. Come on everybody.
Not far now mate is.
Is this the sea?
Of course not. Just a lovely bit of rain, eh?
Does he have to be so cheerful?
Oh the poor things.
Speak up. Can't hear a word.
Don't worry. I've got you.
I've got you.
Come on. Foxes found some shelter.
Oh no. Well there was a horse once.
Now what are we going to do?
Is there another way in?
What did he say?
He wants to know if there's another way into the church.
Come again.
I'm going to get you some food.
He wants to know if there's another way into the church.
Come again.
It's no good. The bells deafened her.
You can put me down now.
All right only don't start digging moly will you?
I won't.
Where are you going?
Mole, come back.
Where is the shelter?
There isn't one. Not now.
Is it? Is it what they call a portston?
Some portston this is.
I don't think I could stand anymore.
Yippee! Fox! Badger!
Oh is that you?
Yes. I found a hole in the wall. Come and see.
Can't see a thing old son.
Now can you see?
Mole's right.
Good old moly.
This way everybody. We can get inside.
Come on.
Here that old fox has found shelter after all.
That's right. New way in a tall.
No. I said never mind. Come on mice.
Let's get out of this rain.
It's all right. There's no one there. It's big black.
After you, Moleo Chepa.
How can we follow him? We can't see him.
You don't have to. He's making enough noise isn't he?
Come on everybody. Get inside.
Don't sit on me.
Sorry. Thought you were a coach.
Do you have to shake your fur dry all over us?
If I said it one, I said it a hundred times.
We, smaller animals, must stand up for our rights.
Has anyone seen now?
Where's everybody gone?
Will you join us, Madam?
What?
Follow me!
All right everybody, settle down now.
Better get some sleep till the storm's over.
Badger.
What? Where?
What's happening?
We're trapped.
Ow. Ow. Why didn't you warn us?
She can't hear.
We want you to fly round and see if there's another way out.
I've got this strange whistling in my ears.
We want you to fly round and see if there's another way out.
There's new way out.
We're trapped.
No, it's your fault.
At least it isn't mine for a change.
I made it.
It isn't anyone's fault.
We were glad enough to get in here last night after all that rain.
Thank you, Fixon.
You did well, Moli.
Oh well. Nothing for it.
We've just got to wait till the humans open the doors.
I know just how you feel.
What?
It's not easy being death.
What are you talking about?
What?
I said what did you say?
No, that's what I said.
Defold, Codger.
What's wrong, Toad?
It's so dry and dusty in the air, mate.
What wouldn't I give to be besides a nice pond?
Is there a pond at White Deer Park?
Pond?
Who would like full of edible frogs?
Did I hear you say edible?
And then of course there's the White Deer.
Who's in charge there?
Ah, oh, the great white stag is beautiful.
His coat shines in the dark.
Our own home at last.
It sounds lovely.
All on our own.
Whistler, can you see anything?
The church is full.
I don't know how we're going to get out.
We'll just have to lie low and stay quiet till they've gone.
All right, everyone?
Yes, you're right.
Oh, I'm so sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.

Don't panic.
Please, everyone.

Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Oh, it's a rat.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
Humans have a proverb.
If you can't beat them, join them.
Al's right.
Come on.
Let's get going.
Looks like Fox has got us in the dark.
I'm sorry.
Looks like Fox has got us into another mess.
Oh, and what are you going to do to get us out of it?
Hmm.
Follow me.
Not so fast.
Help!
My's help!
Say cheese.
Do panic.
Do panic.
Don't write.
That's enough.
Do panic.

The door is open.
Time to go, I think.
One, two, three.
Hurry, fast as you can.
Squeeze past him.
You can do it, my team.

Oh, oh.
Oh, oh, oh.
Oh, oh, oh, oh.
My hat.
What's wrong?
Where are the other rabbits and the squirrels?
Kestrel.
The rabbits run off into the bushes.
The humans are coming.
Let's go.
Weasel, come on.
I don't know what all the fuss is about.
I don't know what all the fuss is about.
All swell, that ends well, I spook.
Not far now, it's only across the field.
Slow down.
The mice and wolves are being left behind.
Oh, no.
And where's Badger?
Weasel.
The squirrels?
They've lost them.
The squirrels are coming.
