Can't go a hundred feet

murdered father.

The task force will try
to find your dad's killer.
Have you heard anything
from them?
My father and the DA

Everyone's best guess is still
that he was killed by someone

[R.J.]
Tell her what you told me.
He saw the black pickup truck,
the one driven by the guy
who shot at Jake
and Kayla yesterday.
Saw that guy too,
or at least his back.
After the crash,
the little pink car
wasn't just crushed,
it was on fire.
But the guy in the pickup

stuck his arm in,
pulled the driver out,
flames and all.
We were talking

Now he's a hero?
He still is our suspect.
Listen.
Pickup guy was giant.
I mean, like, all muscle.
I thought he was a hero too,
but then as soon as
he saved the pink car dude,
-he started yelling at him.
-What was he yelling?
-[suspect] Which one?
Which one?
-[Jake groans]
I couldn't hear much,
but he kept asking,
"Which one? Which one?"
Again and again.
Pink car dude,
he couldn't answer him.
He was out cold.
When the big guy
heard the cops coming,
boom, he bailed,
jumped in his truck
and took off.
-And you never saw his face?
-No,
but like I said, he's huge,
total meat-planet.
He had to be on,
like, gigaroids,
you know what I mean?
So, your client's brother
finds a severed hand,
only instead of bringing it
to the police,
he takes it on the run.
He's looking for a way to get
a big ring off
one of the fingers.
He finds a way.
He stashes the hand someplace,
sells the ring,
tells you he's going back
for the hand,
when, bam, he gets T-boned,
but lucky for him,
the guy who
tried to kill him yesterday
is there
to save his life today.
I mean, don't you
just love being a cop
in Florida?
Oh, I love it. [sighs]
So the guy that pulled Jake
out of his car,
obviously, he's the one
that cut off the hand,
obviously, he's the one
that wants it back,
but with Jake
out of commission--
You're worried he'll go after
your client next.
I already have a car on the way
to take her to be
with her brother.
I'm gonna start looking
into hospitals,
urgent cares, morgues,
see if anyone's been admitted
missing a hand.
We ID the victim,
maybe we can ID the suspect.
Ah, no, I may have a better way
to do that.
You see this?
So it-it's part of
a prescription label.
It was stuck
to the side of the cooler
the hand was in.
"Nandrolone."
-Okay, so not a gigaroid,
but a steroid.
-Yeah.
And then
there's two words here.
They're smudged.
That looks like
"Beach Boulevard" to me.
There's a gym out there
where you find the kind of guy
that fits
the description we got.
So I'm gonna go out there
and see if anyone knows a guy
with a black pickup truck
and a bad temper.
You want me to come with?
No, I have
a very motivated partner
on this one.
[Wish] Well, I gotta admit,
performance-enhancing drugs
sure do enhance performance.
I guess the description I got
doesn't really narrow things
down.
Almost everyone here is
a meat-planet.
Hell, well, tell you what,
start with that guy there
on the bench.
The one
with all the prison ink? Why?
You see that red crown
on his neck?
It means he's in Red Kings.
Now, I myself have never been

Honestly,
it was probably overdue.
Victor kept the wolves at bay,
didn't he?
His political influence made
for a pretty big umbrella

And with him gone,
the floodgates are wide open.

The hell?
No freaking way.
Is this guy trying
to get his own hand back?
[gentle music playing]
[Kayla]
I just don't understand.
When that cooler fell off
this guy's truck,
was he, like, racing
to get his hands sewn back on?
Makes sense to me.
I'm pretty attached
to all my limbs.
You know, it's good
you got the plates and all,
but don't we know
who our boy is?
I mean,
we just got done telling Kayla
that we think the hand belongs
to John Fender.
I mean, these pictures
are of a man missing a hand.
Ipso facto, the guy
that just left here is
John Fender.
[stammers] I don't know.
I don't think whoever he was
was coming here looking
for a hand,
I think he wants the ring.
When he pulled Jake
out of his car,
he kept asking one question,
"Which one? Which one?"
I think Jake told him
he sold the ring
at a pawn shop.
-Big guy wanted to know
-Which pawn shop.
Not to mention,
it's a little late to be
surgically reattaching a hand,
-don't you think?
-Hmm. That puppy's
got to stink by now.
But, if Jake told him
to go to a pawn shop,
why did he have to come here,
smash up all my Hummels?
Well, I don't know.
Maybe Jake lied to him.
The ring wasn't
at the shop he named,
so he came here.
-Huh.
-Oh, God.
There's a photo missing.
It was right there.
It was of me.
It was
at my uncle's bowling alley
[stammers] on Jake's birthday.
Big guy must have took it.
Well, if he didn't get
a good look at me yesterday,
he knows exactly
what I look like now.
[siren wailing]
Okay, come on, calvary's here.
[police chatter on radio]
[Mel]
So you never got his face?
If I got any closer,
he might have shot me in mine.
Okay, nobody saw his face?
What about you, Pennywise?
Before I left,
I ran that plate you sent me.
[Wish]
Okay, so not John Fender.
He's the powerlifter
who won the ring
with all the dia--
Yeah, I know.
We're looking for him too,
but you've got to get in line
behind this guy,
Eduardo Morales.
The black pickup truck
that was here?
It's registered to him.
He works
for the Nicaraguan Consulate
in Miami.
[R.J.] 6'2", 240.
Our guy looked bigger
than that,
didn't he?
I mean, I guess
he could have bulked up
since this was taken,
but I don't know.
It wouldn't surprise me.
Eduardo got swept up
in a big steroid sting in 2024.
He ended up walking,
not enough evidence,
but a few of his buddies
weren't so lucky.
They all got hauled out
of a gym called Carmine's.
Carmine's.
We made some friends there
yesterday.
Got to be where Eduardo
got a look at John Fender
and his ring, right?
I got units heading
to Eduardo's home
and office as we speak.
But until we find him,
you might want to think about
Finding a motel.
[scoffs] I got a couch
that I-I could sleep on.
-Really?
-[chuckling] Yeah.
[stammers] I mean,
if-if you guys are done with us
and I could take her back
to my place,
get her set up?
Are you sure?
-Car's right over here.
-Thank you.
You know,
I really doubt Eduardo's
just gonna be sitting at home
waiting for the cops
to come knocking on his door.
Guy seems like a man
on a mission,
looking for what he lost.
Okay, we beat him to the ring.
Maybe we beat him
to the hand too.
Run prints,
confirm who
it really belongs to.
Fingerprints, right.
That reminds me,
do you know anybody
in the crime lab
that might be able
to run some for me?
It's for a different case
I'm working. [stammers]
For Emi, actually.
-Oh, well, anything
for a friend.
-[chuckles]
I'll set you up
with my favorite lab lady,
Gertrude.
A bit odd,
but hell, so are you.
[button pressing]
[elevator bell dings]
[person 2] Oh, R.J. Decker.
Hi. Step into my office.
Trudy Harris.
Trudy, yeah, as in Gertrude,
Mel's friend.
Yeah, yeah, no,
I was just coming to see you.
You know, uh, what?
I think
we need to do this here.
Oh, uh, do what here?
It's just,
if I take you down to the lab,
my colleagues are going
to think we're dating.
[stammers]
Why would they think that?
-You're very on brand for me.
-Oh.
Yeah, okay. Mel said that you
would need me to check these
for prints?
-Yeah.
-Okay.
The man who handled these
was following your girlfriend?
[chuckling]
No, I mean, well,
the guy that touched
these was following someone,
just not my girlfriend.
-Why not? Is she ugly?
-Mmm? No.
[gasps]
Wait, are you superficial
and you only date tens?
No [chuckling]
no, no, of course not.
It's just [stammers] I-I
-You're screwing with me.
-Mmm.
-Give me a day, okay?
-[chuckles]
-[elevator bell dings]
-Oh.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
-One more thing, um--
-Sorry, R.J., we can't.
I'm I'm married.
I'm kidding.
Definitely kidding.
Very, very single.
Yeah, I'm just
screwing with you again.
I don't know why. It's so fun.
Yeah, yeah.
No, I was just gonna say
I'm working
the severed hand case,
and I was wondering
if you guys
managed to find anything
on the championship ring?
Heck yeah.
Traces of polydimethylsiloxane
and perfluoropolyether
lubricant compounds.
You're not a science guy,
are you?
I have other strengths.
Hmm, okay.
Well, they're chemicals
that can be found
in industrial lubricants,
certain synthetic waxes like
Oh, lane conditioner found
in bowling alleys.
It's slick stuff, viscous,
you know.
It's probably
what was used to remove
the ring from the severed hand.
Got it. [stammers]
So you'd find it
at a bowling alley?
Yeah, a bowling alley,
you know, the kind
with bowling balls and pins.
[Wish] You know,
your timing leaves
a lot to be desired.
You know,
Kayla was just telling me
how she prefers a wiry physique
to the kind
that Eduardo Morales has.
[groans]
What are we doing here?
The ring, it had traces
of bowling lane wax on it.

he takes it on the run.
He's looking for a way to get
a big ring off
one of the fingers.
He finds a way.
He stashes the hand someplace,
sells the ring,

All right, well,
here's what I'll do.

I'll call some friends.

All right?

Not often.

-What?
What the hell is
wrong with you?
-It's my first hand scanner.
-Move, let me do it.
[beeping]
-It's not my fault.
-Well, help me out.
[beeping]
[Mel] Yeah,
that's not gonna work.
We made some changes.
Eduardo no longer has access.
-[officer] Police, hands up.
-[gun cocks]
-[officer 2] Hands up!
-[officer 3] Hands up.
[sirens wailing in distance]
[Carmine] I heard you helped
set the table for all of this.
-You must be smarter
than you look.
-Well, I can count to five.
That's why I was surprised
the other day
when someone told us
Eduardo said the safe here
had only a five-number code.
Tonight, I started to wonder
if that's not exactly
what he said.
Wouldn't it make more sense
if it had a five-digit code?
I should've let the guys
at the gym kill you
when I had the chance.
I think you're gonna come
to have some deeper regrets.
[Jake exhales]
There was a light, you know?
This beautiful voice
calling me home.
Then it kinda shifted.
It's almost like
I was watching Minions,
but I was Gru.
Almost dying is crazy.
Anyway,
I'ma start going to church.
That's nice, Jake. I mean,
you've got a lot
to be grateful for.
[Jake] No joke.
I can't thank you enough, Wish.
Kayla told me about everything
you did [chuckling]
to get those bad guys.
[chuckling] Yeah,
well, um I did have some help
from my little buddy here.
Oh.
What did you do with the money
I got from pawning that ring?
Unbelievable.
What? I-I was just asking.
This is what
you're just asking about?
Hi.
Hi, are you here waiting
[chuckling] on me?
I, uh I come in peace.
Actually, I, uh
I came here to apologize.
Okay, for what?
-Uh, honestly, I'm not sure.
-[stammers, chuckles]
[stammers] I should have
waited for you to get back
to me about the fingerprints.
[stammers] I'm sorry
if that felt presumptuous.
No, it wasn't.
Honestly, that's
It's not why I blew you off.
I actually wanted to help you.
I just, uh,
couldn't.
[dramatic music playing]
[panting]
[R.J.] Why? What's going on?
I'm really not supposed to say.
But it's all
gonna come out today anyway,
so yes,
I did get fingerprints off
of those cans.
I ran them, and I got a hit.
I just couldn't say anything
because it's part of
an open investigation.
So the guy
who's been following my friend,
he's under investigation?
[Trudy] No, he's not the one
under investigation, R.J.
He's a cop.
[siren blaring]
Sorry, what are you saying?
Ms. Ochoa.
Ryan Breen, State Police.
I'm gonna need you to give me
your hands. Come on.
Emi Ochoa,
you have the right
to remain silent.
Anything you say
can and will be used
against you.
I'm saying
that the state police
have a file an inch thick
on your friend, Emi Ochoa.
They've got her dead to rights.
[sirens wailing in distance]
She killed her father.
[music continues]
