were tight in high school.

what happened yesterday
and last night, step by step.

picked Lucas up at the airport,
we came back here, dropped off his stuff,
and then had a few drinks.
Then we met with the others and, uh,
Lucas wanted to keep the party going,
so we came back here
and I guess I passed out.
Lucas had a way
of getting under people’s skin.
Did he have any tension
with anyone last night?
Yeah, Lucas and Avril really went at it.
It was like we slipped back in time.
I I didn’t hear what they
were on about, but
yeah. You know.
Uh, Lucas and Avril dated in high school
and were notorious for their epic fights.
Our yearbook. I lost mine years ago.

MARCUS: I understand you went
to school with the victim?
RENUF: A lifetime ago.
I looked into it.
Lucas moved to New York
after our graduation,
was a financial adviser there.
Single, no kids.
The body was found
in front of the statue.

FITZ: And we don’t know
if the body was dumped
or if the guy made his way there himself.
- Any idea on the murder weapon?
- Not yet.
I mean, he was stabbed.
The wound was deep.
He had scratches on his
knuckles, bruises on his face.
Lucas’s phone is MIA, there’s no signal,
but I’ve got an alert set
if that changes.
RENUF: From what I can tell, Lucas
hasn’t been back since we graduated.
His parents aren’t in town;
they spend most of the year down south.
He has no other family here.
So, the vic hasn’t got many
connections left in Saint-Pierre?
RENUF: Except the people
he was with last night.
Uh, Marcella Morin, local pharmacist.
Etienne Picard, recently moved back here.
We haven’t talked to Avril Roy
and, uh, Jack Dupuis.
They’re both staying at the Nuits Hôtel.
- You mean together?
- No, separate rooms.
Coroner’s initial report
should be ready by now.
Go check on Avril and Jack,
and we’ll meet you at the hotel.

Renuf knew the victim
and was friends
with some of the suspects.
You sure he should be on this case?
ARCH: We know most of what we know
because of Renuf.
He’s an asset to the investigation.

NATASHA: Stabbed with
a long piece of glass.
Wouldn’t have been my first choice,
but sharp, pointy, did the trick.

NATASHA: Shattered inside the torso.
It’ll take me a while to figure out
exactly what type of glass it is.

Okay, um, if he was stabbed
with a broken glass,
the killer may have cut
their own hand in the act.
I will check that, yes.
Also, there are superficial punctures
around the fatal wound.
The killer was hesitant.
Like it was personal, or
Or whoever killed him didn’t want to.

NATASHA: His face was nice and messed up,
so if it was a fight, it would make sense
that the killer was acting spontaneously.
Time of death?
That’s the tricky part.
The glass missed the major arteries.

and then they lock her

ARCH: Party moved here.

RENUF: I’m starting to get
the feeling that all of them
were involved in Lucas’s death.

who died 30 years ago today.
So, you’re saying they killed her?
I pulled the old report
It was a car crash.

Police interviewed all the students.
No witnesses saw Miss Collier
stay late or leave that evening.

extracurricular activities
in high school,
