if someone did break in here
and plant that evidence,
they could've also sent this email
from her computer to seal the deal.
Okay, can we all come
back down to Earth?
The woman had motive.
The murder weapon and a bloody
blanket we all know is
gonna match Joaquin
was found in the house.
Plus the techs have been all over
this place, frontwards and backwards.
No signs of a break-in, no picked locks.
I mean, how, hypothetically,
did this magician get in and out?
Right here.
- Here what?
- [MORGAN] Check this out.
The putty is all bubbled up over here.
I mean, I guess it could have dried
like that, but nope, that's fresh.
- Maybe a few hours old.
- Meaning?
Meaning Katie was framed,
and here's how they did it.
A professional popped this window out…
planted the evidence…
then re-puttied the window and
disappeared just like he was never here.
So, we're looking for
a professional window installer?
Had to bring all his tools,
so he probably was in his own truck.
Plenty of intersections around here
have traffic cams.
We spot a window truck that didn't have
a job in the area at that time,
we might have our guy.
So D'Arby Winters,
traffic cams put you on
Katie Millay's block
for 20 minutes today,
yet I don't see a job in the area.
Care to explain what
you were doing there?
Who's Katie Millay?
I don't know her.
Okay. How about Joaquin Herrero?
That ring a bell?
You feeling okay?
Can we get you
anything? Some water, tea?
[SCOFFS]
I don't think tea's gonna do it.
Yeah, I don't either.
Find anything?
Yeah, sealant's a match,
but it's a common brand.
The rest of the truck's clean.
Mmm. He wasn't. See that guy in there?
Poor guy's going through withdrawals.
Yeah, well, he did have
prior drug charges.
Came out in a child custody battle
with his ex-wife.
Yeah, but do we
think that's significant?
The guy's got no connection to Joaquin,
no connection to Katie Millay.
Think he's a random hire?
Somebody paid him to plant evidence,
used his addiction as pressure?
I'm being framed.
[D'ARBY] Who's Katie Millay?
[LYNE] This case wrapped up a month ago.
[MORGAN] These cars store and report
all kinds of data.
[WORKER] It's like iPhones on wheels.
Sort of.
Not quite, but almost.
Is this D'Arby's personal car?
The techs are checking it too.
Another Astren.
Am I crazy or did the judge
drive an Astren too?
He sure did, and you are not crazy.
You just figured it out, didn't you?
[MORGAN]
Glen Gannick was telling the truth.
Someone did frame him.
That's my name on the wall.
But he's known who this whole time.
[DRAMATIC MUSIC PLAYS]
[GLEN] So you don't have to worry
about that.
So those are all the standard features,
but obviously you can bump all that up.
Back to make a deal?
[MORGAN] Oh, we'll see what happens.
Mind if we take a peek at this guy?
Uh, sure. Should be unlocked.
Oh… Look at all that room.
You could fit a body in there.
But you know that.
Are you serious?
We already covered this.
Somebody framed me.
We did. We did cover it.
And yes, you're right,
someone did frame you.
It was you. You framed yourself.
That's insane.
Why would anybody
frame himself for murder?
[SCOFFS] Thank you so much for asking.
We normally just have
to launch right into it.
Karadec, why would someone
frame themselves for murder?
A few days ago,
you found yourself with a very
good reason to kill Joaquin Herrero
that had nothing to do with what
you've been fighting about publicly,
namely he found out that
you're a serial blackmailer.
Yeah, cars these days, they
store all kinds of data, don't they?
They know where we're going,
they know who we're calling
when we're in there,
they know how fast we're driving.
You needed money to build
that new dealership of yours,
so you used that gold
mine of information
to squeeze your customers
for money and favors.
[MORGAN] D'Arby
Winters was a drug addict.
He knew that he could
lose custody of his child
if anyone found out he was still using.
Judge Lyne had his own
little secret that you used
to have him rule in your favor
when Joaquin sued you.
The thing that connected
the two of them?
They both drove Astrens
that they bought from you.
We already knew Joaquin clashed
with Judge Lyne about his garden.
We suspect he also
came to appeal to you,
but instead he spotted you
shaking the judge down for money.
No, it's a perfectly reasonable request.
[LYNE] Twenty thousand dollars?
That's a lot of money.
We believe he confronted you
about what he saw.
So you broke into his house
and you shot him.
[GUNSHOT]
Problem was, given your beef
over toxic dumping,
you knew you'd be our prime suspect.
[MORGAN] So you planted Joaquin's body
in your own showroom
knowing it would look
like a bad frame job.
[SCOFFS] This is ridiculous.
I heard that you found the gun
in a neighbor's house.
Oh, we'll get to that.
When Judge Lyne got the sense
that we were sneaking up on his secret,
he tipped you off.
That's when you sent the window guy
to frame Joaquin's neighbor.
How could I possibly be blackmailing
all these people?
Dealers can't see any of that data.
- It's all locked away.
- [MORGAN] Right.
And that's where Molly,
your head of diagnostics, comes in.
See, when we first met her, I saw that
one of her tattoos was a hacker emblem.
It's called a glider.
I didn't think much
about it at the time.
[KARADEC] But once we had our suspicions
about what you were doing,
we brought her in for a chat.
She flipped, Glen.
Told us she helped you
gather all that data.
Now, as for our interest
in this particular car.
Molly's statement helped us get
a court order for your fleet's data.
It shouldn't surprise
you to hear this car
was at Joaquin's the
night he was killed.
And when we compared that driver profile
to the data in your own car,
it was a perfect match.
That means that you were
the person driving the car that night.
Now if you'll excuse us,
we have a car to search.
