He said she was a friend of his dad's.

But how can someone inhale
carbon monoxide for hours
in an enclosed room and still be okay?
- It didn't make sense to me.

So I watched all the footage
from the sleep study,
and all I saw
was Wolf in that room, alone,
and, then, an empty bed.

I don't think Sofia exists.
Um you you think that
Wolf hallucinated a patient?
When we were younger,
Wolf would experiment
with hallucinogens,
and he would imagine entire
conversations with his dad.
But, Josh, this felt different.
I got to go see him.

then she's misdiagnosed herself.
And she still won't open up
to us about why she's missing,
so this could still be psych.
Maybe being back here
is triggering some traumatic memory,
like the ballerina with the ICU PTSD.
Psych is a diagnosis of exclusion.
What other tests do we have pending?
Thyroid function. Echo was normal.
With that hypertension,
it could be renal artery stenosis.
I'll order an ultrasound.
I'll page tech to prioritize it.
Her head CT was normal,
but we'll get an MRI.
I'm just worried
that we're missing something.

that releases adrenaline
into the body.

anxiety attack, but they're not.

If I may, it's as if this tumor
is flooding your body with cocaine.
It's why your chest pounds
and your head aches,
and why you feel like
you can't breathe.
And certain things
can activate this tumor,
like the meds you received for nausea
or stress or exercise or even touch.

Pheos can be difficult to find.

Typically, these types
of adrenaline-producing tumors
develop near the kidneys,
but we found yours
in your spine.
Well, that sounds terrifying.
Which is why it's a good thing
we have an expert neurosurgeon
here who can remove it.
We'll need to work delicately
to make sure
that we don't do damage
to the spinal cord itself
and, also, to keep the tumor
from spilling adrenaline
into your bloodstream.
I expect
you will make it through safely.
But in a surgery like this one,
there are no guarantees.
So I could die.
Well, avoiding the surgery
would be much more dangerous.
We've already seen
what this tumor can do.
I knew something awful
was going on in my body.
I could feel it.
