Who's Gonna Drive You Home?
1
OLDER GIBBS: The rules
gave my life order. But now,
without Shannon and Kelly,
there was no order.
My dad, well,
he knew more
than I ever gave him credit for.
Go home! I want you out
by the time I get back.
NEWSMAN: Pruitt was
arrested on charges of bigamy.
- That's a federal crime.
- WHEELER: You seeing this?
It's Doug Westmont.
FRANKS: It's Abe Pruitt's
bloodsucking lawyer.
That fool's on television
more than the president is.
MANNY: It's getting too dangerous.
Then I'm gonna get you out.
GIBBS: Think it's
in everyone's best interest
to put Manuel Santiago
into witness protection.
Thank you.
OLDER GIBBS: At first,
it seemed like it was all gonna be okay.
Diane had her job up in Los Angeles.
- [KEYS JANGLE]
- I was at Pendleton.
Those first couple of weekends,
we couldn't get enough of each other.
Oh, I missed those baby blues.
But after a few weeks,
the new wore off
and reality set in.
Diane.
I just got paged.
I-I got to go in.
I'm sorry.
It wasn't anybody's fault really.
- It was just
- [PHONE RINGING]
life being life.
Well,
that plus the fact
that long-distance marriage
is for idiots.
- Yeah.
- DIANE: Oh, my God, I'm so sorry.
I got stuck in a meeting.
GIBBS: Are you still in L.A.?
Yeah.
And I got handed a ton of documents
to proofread for Monday morning.
You didn't start on dinner yet, did you?
It's okay.
Do what you need to do.
I said long-distance was for idiots.
We'll figure it out.
Love you.
I love you, too.
OLDER GIBBS:
L.A. wasn't even that far away.
But it felt like it was getting farther.
It felt like the distance
was killing us.
- [INDISTINCT CHATTER]
- It started showing up
even when we were ten feet apart.
I knew if we were gonna pull out
of this rut,
something had to give.
[KNOCKING]
But, instead, things were about
to get a lot more complicated.
Dad. What are you doing here?
- Nice to see you, too, son.
- [SIGHS]
I told you it wasn't a good time.
I got a lot going on.
Well, you got to do what you got to do.
I'm here to see her anyway.
Oh. About damn time I get
to know my daughter-in-law.
- Evening, Mr. Gibbs.
- You get that hand
- out of here. I'm a hugger. Come on.
- [CHUCKLES]
[CHUCKLES] Hope you don't mind
me camping out on the couch.
DIANE: Of course not. Right, Leroy?
We're so glad you're here.
[SIZZLING]
Morning, son. Eggs,
bacon,
drizzle of honey
- just how you like it.
- [CHUCKLES SOFTLY]
You know, that couch there's
pretty comfortable.
I really hate
you came all this way, Dad.
I'm heading into work, and
Diane's got to go back to L.A., so
Well, you know,
I've been asking you for weeks
when's a good time for me to come
and get to know your new bride.
- And you kept putting me off.
- Yeah.
Because it wasn't a good time.
What the hell is that?
That's your rule box.
I fished it out of the trash
after you cleared out the old house.
Why?
I thought
maybe you'd want to have it back
now that some time has passed.
Wow.
Smells like heaven.
- What is that? Honey?
- Just a drizzle.
- Aw.
- I was just telling Dad
we're both headed out, so
Actually, I called in to work.
My boss is letting me take the day off.
Wouldn't want to miss a chance to hear
all the most embarrassing
Little Leroy stories.
Diane, I can't stay.
I know.
You think we need you
to have a good time?
We do not.
So I guess I'll see you for dinner.
Mm-hmm.
- JACKSON: We'll be here, bud.
- Mm-hmm.
Oh. Hold up, son.
- [CHUCKLES]: Yeah.
- Bacon
in a cup.
That's where he got that.
He gets all his best ideas from me.
[CHUCKLES]
[GIBBS CHUCKLES SOFTLY]
Yo, MJ.
What are you doing
hiding out in here for?
[CHUCKLES SOFTLY] I'm not hiding out.
I sent Gail across the street
to the pay phone
to test out the new extension system.
Earl I.T. making upgrades again?
He's trying to make it
so you can dial in
and bypass the secretaries instead
of us having to transfer the calls.
- [DOOR OPENS, CLOSES]
- GAIL: Mary Jo, I'm back.
- [CHUCKLING]
- Good luck.
[GROANS SOFTLY]
What are you doing back here? I told you
to call the rec room extension.
I did.
I don't think Earl I.T. is very smart.
Okay. Forget about the phones.
Admiral Cane is arriving here
this afternoon.
He is? The head of NIS is coming here?
I've told you this
twice a day since Tuesday.
Why's the admiral coming?
He never shows up unless it's bad news.
I have no idea.
But Wheeler wants us to keep him updated
on absolutely everything.
[DOOR OPENS]

What's wrong with you now?

My dad showed up last night.
And he and Diane
are spending the day together.
And the three of us are supposed
to have dinner tonight.
- That sounds nice.
- [SIGHS]
You don't know my dad.
Right now, he's probably asking
Diane personal questions
and making her feel
uncomfortable and complaining
about how my cabinets don't shut flush.
I noticed that about your cabinets.
It's not about the ca Mm.
Never mind.
- Did I miss anything?
- Well,
I just booked my first real slot
at the Laugh Lodge.
- Dang, look at you.
- Thank you.
On a not-so-delightful note,
Admiral Cane's coming to town,
which can't be good.
What's he doing here?
WHEELER: The admiral's giving
a big speech at a town hall meeting.
You might've read in the papers
the community's pretty salty
about SECNAV's fleet reduction.
They think it's gonna tank
the local economy.
And SECNAV's sending Admiral
Cane to take the punches.
I think the admiral can handle it.
I hear he's come up with a slideshow
about how the Navy's going
to "continue to support"
the local community.
His little buddy ain't coming, is he?
If by "his little buddy" you mean
his deputy commander,
Leonard Miller, then, yes, he is.
Oh, and he wants our help.
What, security?
Yeah. The town hall meeting's
gonna be packed.
Standing room only.
And with people that upset,
things could get out of hand.
That's all well and fine, Cliff,
but that Miller's
a disrespectful piece of crap.
Yeah, I know.
Last time you worked with him,
- I never heard the end of it.
- Yeah,
that Ivy League uppity jackass
talks down to me
'cause I got a Texas accent.
Damn it.
When'd you start shining your shoes?
Last time the admiral was here,
he commented on their lack of luster.
Damn it. I [SIGHS]
Come on, Cliff.
We both know what's going on here.
Mary Jo told me
Jason lost his internship.

from the FBI mailroom,
so I ran upstairs to shine my shoes.

Mary Jo told me
that when the admiral's in town,
you want to know absolutely everything.
That's all I got for now,

Deputy Commander Miller

He wants to review the security
for the admiral's speech.
The hell's he doing at Daly's?
Eating, I guess.
Look, just sit up straight
and use big words.
He'll think you're plenty smart.
[GROANS SOFTLY]
In order for us
to properly assess security,
we're gonna need a detailed itinerary.
MILLER: The admiral
and his wife Julia will be
touching down at 1500 today.
They will be transported from the hotel
to the town hall in the morning.
You know, I can't say
I've ever seen somebody order
buffalo wings at a business lunch.
About that itinerary that we require
Yeah.

Why you speaking in proper English?

I told him it was a bad time.
He didn't care.

Russian spy steals tiny computer
