[LEWIS STEWART] Previously
on Reasonable Doubt
Hollywood stylist Wendy
Collins has been reported missing.
Why the fuck is everyone
looking at me like it's my fault,
or like I did something?
Is there someone who can
corroborate your whereabouts?
You are a person of interest
in a missing person's case
that is getting bigger by the hour.
[MIKE ORTIZ] Anyone would
have reason to believe
that it could turn into a
homicide investigation.
[JAX STEWART] Adorable.
I did not know that your wife was Black.
Video has surfaced of Ozzie
and Wendy in a domestic dispute.
Is that the reason he
isn't here with you tonight?
[JAX] So, I have this new client.
Maybe you'd like to help out?
Hell, yeah.
[JAX] They found Wendy's body.
They also found the
bullet that killed Wendy.
It's a match to a gun
that's registered to you.
We gotta talk.
I am heading to the DA's office
now to negotiate your arrest.
Hi, baby.
Hey, Daddy.
May I come in?

It's been a long time.
[JAX] Um
Dad, why are you here?
[EDDIE] I got a steady
gig with the live band
over at the GS Lounge
for the next few months,
so I was thinking, you know,
maybe you and Lewis
could come to the show.
You know, we could grab a bite before.
They got some nice restaurants
down on Market Street.
Okay, stop.
I haven't seen you in over eight years.
And the last few times you
were in town, you ghosted me.
But now you show up at my door,
and you expect me to just kiki with you
and shake my head at your little gig
like you Jimi Hendrix and not my
drug-addicted, deadbeat father?
Well, first of all, I've been
clean for about five years now.
And secondly, I play bass guitar,
so it'll be more Ron
Carter than Jimi Hendrix.
[JAX] Okay.
Does Mom know you're here?
[EDDIE] Yeah, she
knows. We've been talking.
[JAX] About what?
[EDDIE] [SIGHS] Listen.
I'm staying down at the Coral Hotel.
I'd really love to explain things and,
and make up for well, everything.
Just one meal.
Or-or even coffee.
That's all I'm asking.
[LEWIS STEWART] Eddie,
you said your piece.
Now it's time for you to leave.

Jax, where are we with
the Ozzie Edwards case?
Well, as you all know, Ozzie
turned himself in a few weeks ago,
which, despite the State's
insistence that he remain in jail,
was a huge factor in
Judge Williams' decision
to grant Ozzie bail.
What was the bail amount?
No bail?
Your Honor,
Mr. Edwards poses no risk
of harm to the community.
He is not a flight risk,
and he has no criminal record
or law enforcement contacts.
The court agrees that
Mr. Edwards is not a flight risk
or a threat to society,
but the standard $2 million for bail
is not enough to reflect the
seriousness of this crime.
Bail is at five million.
That's not exactly a win.
Well, given he's at home, I'd say it is.
Five mil is chump
change for Mr. Pow-Pow!
He must be relieved to have his freedom.
You would think, but
- [REPORTER 1] Yo, Ozzie.
- [REPORTER 2] Hey, Ozzie. Over here.
What's going on with the film Toro?
Heard you were up for it, but
word is they cast Caleb McLaughlin.
Eh, that's good for him, but, um,
I'm focused on proving my innocence.
[REPORTERS CLAMORING]
Hey, what was the last
thing you said to Wendy?
Was it, "Pow, pow, gotcha?"
[CLAMORING CONTINUES ON PHONE]
Mr. Edwards was simply
grabbing a bite to eat
while trying to avoid the paparazzi.
Instead, he assaulted them.
They were taunting him,
as they do every time
he leaves the house.
Well, then maybe Mr. Edwards
shouldn't leave the house.
[STEPHEN BINDER] House arrest?
- Yes. Not Bill's best moment.
- [VINCE LARSON] Yikes.
Well, at least now you can
control Ozzie's whereabouts, right?
That's what we thought.
You went to the community center.
I went to the community center,
which is inside my gated community.
How is that leaving?
Okay, if you walk out of that front door
and into the streets without
the judge's permission,
then you are violating
your house arrest.
[SCOFFS] Okay, well, that,
that doesn't sound fair.
Oh. Oh.
Your Honor, my client
did not fully comprehend
the scope and restrictions of
his house arrest at the outset,
but I can assure you, he does now.
Good. Hate to see his bail revoked.
You think you slick by not
pushing to get Ozzie's bail revoked?
That's up to Judge
Williams, not the state.
Please. I think you want
him to stay out of jail.
More ways for him to fuck up,
publicly, in front of potential jurors.
Why win the battle when
you can win the war?
So, if Lucy was playing checkers
Chad is playing chess, yes.
But at the end of the day,
their evidence is weak.
And our strategy is simple.
Proximity does not equal guilt.
Finding Wendy's body near
Ozzie's cabin means nothing.
We'll establish that
others had access to it
and his gun and introduce
them as alternative suspects
to confirm that he wasn't
even there that night.
As for the DNA and scratches?
Easily explained by a
prior consensual encounter.
Being a freak ain't against the law.
The case amounts to perception control.
My goal before the trial starts is
to plant seeds of doubt in the press
to ensure that Ozzie is seen as a
victim of circumstantial evidence,
not a killer.
Checkmate.
Very nice.
Well, keep us posted on Bill's
performance, and the case.

Hattie told Naima about Jaden.
What? How?
Hattie overheard her mom
talking on the phone about it,
and Hattie told Naima, who,
of course, didn't believe her,
because the news, to quote
her, was, "Seriously crazy work."
That's why Naima started hanging
out with her new shoplifting friends.
What did you say after she told you?
Nothing. I mean, she seemed
to accept it as crazy, so I
[SIGHS] I just went with it.
I I I didn't know what to say.
I saw my dad today.
I think he's hiding something from me.
I don't like it.
Which is why I think that we
have to tell the kids about Jaden.
I was afraid you were gonna say that.
You know, it has to be
different with our kids, Lewis.
You know, between my dad
and seeing Ozzie and his shit,
I mean, these secrets,
whether they're big or small,
they only cause harm in the end.

Yeah, maybe it was wishful

Spense comes home in two weeks.

So, how you gon' tell 'em?
Nigga, stay unserious.

figure that out, too.
