The Walking Dead: Dead City (2023) s03e04 Episode Script
Found / Lost
1
Previously on Dead City.
[RENATA] We turned on that light.
They are here because of us.
Can't we give her
something more for the pain?
That was the last of our morphine.
I've just been thinking about Ramon.
Chucho. Marisol.
This is the best that any of
us have ever had it, Maggie.
We have a pantry full of food.
We're gonna need something solid
between us and the walkers.
Now, see, the issue here is
I am not in your community.
The Dama killed herself.
All right, well, I guess
she made her choice.
[CRICKETS CHIRPING]
[UNSETTLING MUSIC]
[LEAVES RUSTLING]
[SIGHS]
[LUIS] When did this happen?
A few days back.
I've been up and down from Maryland
looking for somewhere safe,
scavenging, trading what I can.
Saw the Statue of Liberty lit up,
decided to take a chance.
Definitely an inversion sprain.
- Does it hurt when I move it like this?
- Aah!
Damn it!
Any chance you got
something for the pain?
I was gonna ask you the same thing.
Cleaned ourselves out a few weeks ago.
Come on, whatever you
got, I'll trade you for it.
I-I-I got this, uh
I-I-I got this whiskey.
Saving it for a special occasion, but
[LUIS] Holy shit, Johnny Walker Blue?
You know what this was
worth before shit went down?
Where'd you even get this?
[CHRIS] We came across this
cabin upstate near Beacon.
There was this woman
[UNSETTLING MUSIC]
[WIND WHOOSHING]
You never did this as a kid?
No, I can't say that I did.
[RENATA] Luis and I spoke to
Chris and his wife separately.
Their story does check out.
Apparently, this woman can
get her hands on anything,
as long as we have something
of value to offer in return,
which we do.
Alright, well, my job is
keeping everybody here safe.
Maggie, we need medical supplies.
Everyone here will be
safer once we have those.
And you're sending our only doctor away.
Terrence said that we got
another refugee today
with medical training.
That's four in the last
week, so, yes, technically,
Luis is our only doctor,
but he's also the only one
who can make sure that the
meds we get in trade are legit.
He needs to go,
and I need you to make sure he's safe.
So she calls herself The Trader?
Turns the car into an airplane.
Makes it fly.
But only if you do it, too.
[LUIS] He said this Trader
had been to Newfoundland and back,
like, after things went to shit.
You grab me some of that jerky?
You know what sounds gross,
but is actually kind of amazing?
Me and Renata used to cut
up jerky into little bits
and sprinkle it over our mac and cheese.
You talking about
Hillbilly Hamburger Helper?
[CHUCKLES]
[LUIS] Well?
Having both windows down, it'd
clearly just burn more gas.
[LUIS] Mm-hmm.
Got some of the old New Babylon
vehicles stashed up ahead.
It's funny with the bridges gone
I don't know.
I guess at some point I stopped dreaming
I'd ever step foot off that island.
It's good to know dreams
can still come true.
- [BIRDS CHIRPING]
- [WATER LAPPING]
[BRIGHT, OPTIMISTIC MUSIC]
Mission's the mission.
Gotta enjoy the ride.
[WIND WHOOSHING]
[BRIGHT, OPTIMISTIC MUSIC]
[THEME MUSIC]
[GENTLE MUSIC]
[WALKERS GROWLING]
[WALKERS THUMPING]
[FABIAN] Now, all this construction,
is bringing more walkers.
Maggie knows that, right?
[NEGAN] She also knows now
that your home and hospital are safer.
And once we finish up this place,
the pantry will be, too.
So you and Maggie go way back, huh?
Is that why you volunteered?
[NEGAN] Volunteered?
More like nagged into submission.
Plus, I'd rather see things done right
than watch monkeys juggle chainsaws.
- No offense.
- Yeah.
Once she made her pitch
to move us from the Bricks,
she told us we'd be safer, better off.
Well, it's a good start for safer.
But better off?
Hey, man, from where I'm sitting,
here equals food, power.
There, dead crops
and more moths than an
old nun's clam palace.
[HERSHEL] Seriously?
Why would you say that?
Why would you ever put
those words together?
[NEGAN CHUCKLES]
[DILLARD] If you think of
us, right, looking at birds.
I don't know.
I've just always wondered
if crabs think fish can fly.
'Cause they're just, you
know, looking up at this.
Do crabs think fish can fly?
I really don't know.
But I really like the
way your brain works.
[WALKERS GROWLING]
What?
I just haven't really been
paid a compliment recently,
especially by a lady, so
Gracias.
Look, Negan, I know we
got shit now, all right?
But our numbers have doubled
what they were three weeks ago.
We keep letting these newcomers
take all our resources.
I got a family to worry
about, man, all I'm saying.
[HERSHEL] I'm at 24, by the way.
You gotta take your shoes
off to even count to 19.
24, my ass.
You're 23, I'm at 24.
But it's cool, you're
doing great for your age.
Whoa, whoa.
You are a sparky little bastard.
Kinda proud of you. [CHUCKLES]
[WORKER] All right, everyone,
let's close the gate and
get them to the cages.
- [OMINOUS MUSIC]
- [CRACKING]
Alright, look, I'm just saying,
we're bringing the walkers.
We should get more hours
of electricity, right?
This was the old world,
we'd get some kind of bonus.
Yeah, and if my abuelo had three balls,
he'd be a pinball machine.
- Excuse me?
- [RENATA] What?
Sorry, I just didn't
know you had that setting.
[WALKERS GROWLING]
[NEGAN] Hold him there.
[LOUD CLANK]
[WALKERS GROWLING]
[CLANKING]
- [OMINOUS MUSIC]
- [WALKERS GROWLING]
[OMINOUS MUSIC]
- [SQUISHING]
- [WALKER GROWLING]
[FABIAN] Shit
[SQUISHING]
[SINISTER MUSIC]
[FABIAN] Help! Help! Negan!
- Help! Negan!
- Fabian,
- you gotta shut up.
- Negan, Negan, Negan
Hey, can you keep 'em
distracted over here?
[RENATA] Yup!
[BANGING] [RENATA] Hey, guys! Over here!
- [FABIAN GRUNTS]
- [WALKER GROWLS]
[RENATA] Hey! Here!
- [FABIAN PANTS]
- [WALKER GROWLS]
[RENATA] Over here!
Come on! [BANGING]
- [RENATA BANGING CAGE]
- [NEGAN GRUNTING]
Aah!
[FABIAN GRUNTS]
- [SQUISH]
- [NEGAN GRUNTS]
Negan! Keys!
- [SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC]
- [WALKERS GROWLING]
I don't think you're
gonna earn any bonuses
for that one there, Bucky.
[FABIAN GRUNTS]
[WALKERS GROWLING]
[UNSETTLING MUSIC]
[NEGAN] Let's move, Half-Pint!
[UNSETTLING MUSIC]
[WALKERS GROWLING, BANGING AT CAGE]
- [CRICKET CHIRPING]
- [WIND GUSTING]
[RENATA] Everything you
did for the hospital,
add to that your work
protecting the construction crew,
risking your life to save Fabian
Last empty apartment in the building.
I want you to have it.
[NEGAN] Well, my goodness,
it must be Christmas
and Negan has been a good little boy,
apparently, 'cause old Renata Claus
has come right down that chimney.
Now, you do know that I told
You turned down Maggie's
offers to live here, I know.
But I think you've come around, Negan.
Just like I've come around on you.
Now, do I trust you completely?
No.
That's gonna take time.
But you have become an asset to us.
You deserve more than you
have. You deserve a home.
But if I live here, I have
to live under your rules?
That's right. Just
like everyone else here.
And that does include no killing.
[NEGAN LAUGHS]
Or in your case, no more killing.
[UNSETTLING MUSIC]
I know you murdered The Dama.
She was on a hunger strike.
But when we cleaned out her cell,
she had eaten some of
the food on her tray,
which got me thinking,
why would The Dama choose
to take a bite out of the tuna casserole
and then decide to kill herself?
Well, I don't know.
Have you tried Maggie's tuna casserole?
You chose death for her.
You broke the rules.
But you are worth
something to my community,
to Maggie.
Who doesn't need to know what you did,
by the way.
What makes you think I give
a shit what Maggie thinks?
[RENATA] Because if you
didn't, you would have told her.
Honestly, I think you'd like it here.
I mean, we don't got a stripper pole,
but we got Tai Chi.
[CHUCKLES] Tai Chi.
[RENATA] My only ask, Negan,
is that you follow the
same rules as everyone else.
Keys are on the mantle.
Think about it!
[DOOR SHUTS]
[TENSE MUSIC]
You've traveled a good bit
since the outbreak.
Yeah, I mean, not as far as some.
When they bombed the city,
destroyed the bridges,
leveled skyscrapers,
I figured that's what it
must be like everywhere.
End of the world,
fire-and-brimstone-type shit,
you know?
We've been driving for
miles and everything
looks like it's been untouched.
It's like they only came after us.
You never thought to leave?
[LUIS] Never knew if
it was the right time.
Leave too soon and
lose people you didn't have to.
So we stayed.
I don't know if I ever
would have left the farm
if I had the choice.
It was never the land
we had to worry about.
It was always the people.
Guess that part's the same everywhere.
Well, yeah, I guess so.
Wait.
You grew up on a farm?
[MAGGIE CHUCKLES]
- I know.
- [LUIS CHUCKLES]
And there he was on
top of the fire truck,
walkers all around him.
Scared out of his
[LUIS] Wait, wait, wait,
wait, wait. Hold up.
He had a mullet, and
you still trusted him?
Haven't you never relied on
the kindness of strangers?
I'm from East Harlem, OK?
We trust people we know.
We trust people they know.
And we definitely
don't fuck with mullets.
[BOTH LAUGH]
Eugene came through when it counted.
Can't ask for more than that.
[MAGGIE] No.
You, Maggie Rhee, have lived a life.
I feel like I have lived a few.
And this?
This is the start of a new one.
For all of us.
Difference is, it's not about
who we have to be anymore.
It's about who we want to be.
[GENTLE MUSIC]
Yeah.
[INSECTS CHITTERING]
Mm. Mm!
Amazing!
I don't think I've
ever eaten a mulberry.
Mm. They're pretty good, aren't they?
- Mm-hmm.
- Mm.
We're lucky we got them
this late in the season.
Might be some raspberries over there.
[LUIS] Come on.
[INSECTS CHITTERING]
[WIND RUSTLING LEAVES]
[SOMBER MUSIC]
[MAGGIE] That must've been
someone he really loved.
Let's get back on the road.
[INSECTS CHITTERING]
[MAGGIE] The other day,
you mentioned a name.
Marisol?
She was my wife.
I didn't know that you were married.
She always drove.
Said I spent too much time
looking out the window.
[MAGGIE LAUGHS]
When all this started, she, um
just took off without telling me.
Went looking for her parents.
Never came back.
I haven't touched a wheel since.
I'm sorry.
I know she's gone.
But I also don't know.
And I never will.
I look at you and Renata.
It's like you found hope in a bottle.
For me, for years and years,
the only way I could make it
through my day was
to throw my hope away.
But then you said you were
looking forward to looking forward.
I am.
Might even grow me a mullet.
[BOTH LAUGHING]
It would suit you.
[LUIS] Better believe it.
[BOTH LAUGHING]
- [GENTLE MUSIC]
- [LEAVES RUSTLING]
[MUSIC TURNS OMINOUS]
Can I help you?
Are you The Trader?
Must be.
We've come to make a deal.
First, we need to know that
you have what we came for.
What have you come for?
I, I run a hospital.
Hundreds rely on us.
We're out of morphine, suture kits,
saline, IV bags,
penicillin, antiseptics.
You're gonna have to have something
as valuable as the
sun to get all of that.
We have blueprints for a process
that turn the dead into energy.
[TENSE MUSIC]
Huh.
Leave your weapons in the
van, and then you may enter.
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC]
If this is real,
it gets in the wrong hands,
it could be dangerous.
Yeah, having something rare
that people would kill to have,
that's dangerous.
But this is the start of something else.
Something better for everyone.
That's so generous.
But I can see your fear.
You don't want this trade.
You need it.
Self-protection in the end.
Always.
I know a man who used
to work on rockets.
I'll have him vet this.
If it checks out, I'll
get you what you need.
I'll take your van.
We're not giving you our van.
All you require, how
will it fit on my vehicle?
I take your van one night,
and you stay here one night.
A trade.
Do you expect us to stay
here, unarmed, all night?
[THE TRADER] I'm risking more than you.
Your van isn't worth all I have.
And you could do a lot worse
than spending the night here.
And I warn you, if you're playing me,
I will have recompense.
That's the deal.
[MAGGIE] Trader.
We taking bets on
whether she comes back?
[CHUCKLES]
Guess we have time to kill.
We need weapons.
[BIRDS CHIRPING]
[RAIN PATTERING]
[MAGGIE] Oh, come on.
Nobody is that steady.
[LUIS] Guess I just got the touch.
Okay, Mr. Steady Hands.
Humor me.
If we're really starting
over, who do you want to be?
Someone who appreciates what he has.
Someone who matters to someone.
[RAIN PATTERING]
This is ridiculous.
- [LUIS CHUCKLES]
- I whittled a broomstick.
I could stab you.
Never play Jenga against a surgeon.
Oh, now I know.
But I want to be the man I
should have been for Marisol.
What Chucho should have been for Yvette.
Someone who plants roots.
Raises kids.
Builds something that lasts.
[GENTLE, BRIGHT MUSIC]
Sure you weren't a surgeon in
one of your many past lives?
[BOTH LAUGHING]
[LUIS] How about you, Maggie Rhee?
Huh?
Fresh start.
Who do you want to be?
For so long, I was
always about keeping Hershel safe.
And I don't think he needs that anymore.
So I don't know.
[KNOCKING ON DOOR]
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC]
I'm looking for Trader.
I have something for her.
- [RAIN PATTERING]
- [BIRDS CHIRPING]
They're fire roasted with
sage honey drizzled on top.
It's Trader's favorite. Try one.
Are you sure you're alone?
Sure am. Name's Gerald.
You must have had
something real important to
trade if she left you here.
Mind if I ask what it is?
How do you know that we didn't kill her?
Tip of that broomstick's clean.
So unless you swept her to death
[LAUGHS]
How big's your community?
- Where is it?
- Quarter mile through the trees.
62 of us now, counting Genevieve's baby.
We used to come up here
for a weekend every fall.
Family camp for our church.
Mmm
Every so-called Christian
group that I've come across
has turned out to be
more cult than church.
We're worse than a cult.
We're Presbyterians.
Book of Matthew.
"By their fruits you will know them."
"Every good tree bears good fruit,
but a bad tree bears bad fruit."
Chapter 7, verse 17.
First Corinthians 13:13.
"And now these three remain:
"Faith, hope, and love.
But the greatest of these is love."
[RAIN PATTERING]
What do you think?
Cannibal luring us to his
lair with delicious apples?
You don't know that they're delicious.
I ate one. It was pretty good.
Okay.
Show us your camp.
[LIVELY CHATTER]
[GERALD] This is us.
[MAGGIE] You aren't worried
about attracting the dead?
[GERALD] That gate back
there? Shagbark hickory.
Runs the whole perimeter.
Solid as they come.
We haven't had a breach
since we built it.
- Grandpa!
- Ahh
And this, this is my
granddaughter, Maylene.
Maylene, these are my new friends.
Maggie and Luis.
Are you guys coming
to the party tonight?
Party?
[GERALD] Every full moon we
have a little celebration.
Plenty of food.
I'd love it if you could join us.
[WOMAN] Maylene.
Half hour ago we had
you tied in a chair.
We had a rough start.
But if Trader trusts you
enough to let you into her home,
why shouldn't we?
Besides, what's the
point of having something
if you're not willing to share it?
I think that's exactly right.
[TRANQUIL MUSIC]
[GERALD] Come this way.
You can turn the dead into fuel.
I'm not sure we'd have
anything worthy of this
to give you in return.
We don't want anything for it.
The people that had it before us,
they were scared.
They kept it to themselves.
And we want to do things differently.
We have everything we've
ever needed right here.
Fish in the lake.
Geese overhead.
We even found an old apple orchard,
not a 45-minute walk from here.
What you're talking about
would change everything.
For the better, right?
[GERALD] Maybe.
But maybe not.
The dead, they're dangerous.
And those old things,
TVs, radios, phones, just noise.
Places to hide.
Up here, we found connection.
We let go of what was
and found out who we wanted to be.
So thank you.
Truly. Your offer's generous.
But we're content with
the life we've built.
We just want to help.
Then help us celebrate a special night.
[LIVELY CHATTER OUTSIDE]
[GENTLE MUSIC]
The full moon has always been a beacon,
a reminder that even
in our darkest nights,
God's light returns.
We can't know what waits for us.
Or who will enter our lives.
But every 29 and a half days,
she rises in all her glory.
Let us pray.
Lord, we thank you for
this food in this cup.
May it be to us the
body and blood of Christ,
feeding us in faith, hope, and love.
- Amen.
- [GROUP] Amen.
Now, let's eat, drink,
and be glad for another
full moon together!
[CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]
- Time to party.
- [BOTH LAUGH]
Mulberry wine?
Oh. Thanks.
[LUIS] Thank you.
- Your favorite.
- [BOTH LAUGH]
- [UPBEAT FOLK MUSIC PLAYING]
- [CHEERING]
[CHUCKLES]
[RHYTHMIC CLAPPING]
[CHEERING]
Go ahead. Come on!
[UPBEAT FOLK MUSIC PLAYING]
[CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]
[LAUGHING] I can't
[CHUCKLING]
[LAUGHTER]
Okay, okay, okay!
[CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]
[BOTH SIGH]
[LUIS LAUGHS]
I can't remember the last
time I danced like that.
I know.
Closest I came, I think, was
my dad's harvest festivals.
- Hm.
- Yeah, it was like
He'd hold them every year
to thank God for the crops.
Yeah, food, hay rides,
dancing in the barn.
Except I was making out with
Danny Pruitt behind the barn.
- Guess I missed out.
- Well, I don't know. [LAUGHS]
We had block parties and fire hydrants.
- Same thing, right?
- Same.
[CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]
[SLOW FOLK MUSIC]
[MAGGIE WHISPERS INAUDIBLY]
Figured we're warmed up, right?
[SLOW FOLK MUSIC]
What?
No, it's, it's nothing.
You can say it,
I dance like a guy dodging potholes.
- No.
- [LUIS LAUGHS]
No, ah
I just forgot what this feels like.
What, what feels like?
- [MUSIC FADES AWAY]
- To fly.
You never told me.
[MAGGIE] Never told you what?
Who you would want to be.
[TENDER MUSIC]
Someone who stops wearing death
like it's the only thing she's got left.
Who laughs without
feeling guilty about it.
Someone who lets herself live.
- [TENDER MUSIC]
- [FIRE CRACKLING]
[LUIS] Maggie? Maggie?
[SLOW FOLK MUSIC PLAYING]
What, what feels like?
I think we should leave.
But-
No. We've stayed here too long.
[DOOR OPENS]
[SIGHS] The sky is so beautiful.
More than I've remembered it in years.
[LUIS CHUCKLES]
It feels wrong, almost,
for the world to be
this beautiful anymore.
Maybe that's the trade.
The world takes everything, but
leaves a little beauty behind.
[INSECTS CHITTERING]
- I'm sorry, I
- Don't even worry about it.
Don't worry about it.
Thank you
for letting me talk about Marisol.
It's been a long time since I felt like
I could talk to someone, you know?
I'm glad I could be there to listen.
We all hold someone, right?
You ever need someone to talk to
[VAN APPROACHING]
[THE TRADER] I got what you asked for.
[MAGGIE CHUCKLES]
Thank you.
[THE TRADER] Morphine. You can test it.
My source is trusted.
Thank you.
It was a fair trade.
This is gonna change everything for us.
Maybe for the world.
Self-protection in the end.
Always.
How about I drive?
[ETHEREAL MUSIC]
[VAN STARTS]
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
[RENATA] Negan!
Give any more thought to my offer?
[NEGAN] I have.
And I gotta be honest with you,
I'm embarrassed to say that it
took me a a good long minute
to see through your bullshit.
I'm sorry, my what?
Your offer's not an
offer. It's a threat.
See, you don't trust me and
this is your cute little way
of keeping your eye on me.
I turn you down and you can threaten to
lock me up for killing The Dama.
I mean, that's your next play, right?
And smart of you to do
when Maggie's not around.
No one to take my side
or talk you out of it.
I made the offer when I did
because I saw you save Fabian's life.
You think I planned that too?
I guess I could have made it go down
like you said. What'd you say?
I blackmail you, threaten
to put you behind bars
if you didn't do exactly as I said?
I actually could still do that.
There's hundreds of us, only one of you.
[UNSETTLING MUSIC]
Negan, I don't work like that.
My offer was genuine.
It was me trying to be honest with you.
Me trying to find my way
into actually trusting you.
But now?
Now I'm wondering if
you don't trust yourself
to play by someone else's rules.
That, or you're scared.
You're scared to get too close
to more people you might lose.
Or is it both?
- [KNOCKING AT DOOR]
- [DOOR OPENS]
[SPEAKING SPANISH]
- How did it go?
- Good.
Trader came through.
Got everything we needed and then some.
- Oh, that's so great.
- What's new here?
What did we miss?
Nothing.
Same old, same old.
[RUMBLING]
Oh.
Did you feel that?
[RUMBLING INTENSIFIES]
[WALKERS GROWLING]
Oh shit, I hope that
wasn't what I think it was.
- An earthquake?
- [DILLARD] Yeah.
Big old sinkhole opened up on
8th Avenue a few years back.
Swallowed up half a goddamn city block.
Not like DOT's doing anything anymore.
Hey! Ground's not stable. I
need everyone off the street.
See? What did I say?
[CRACKING, RUMBLING]
The pantry. We need to save the food.
- Let's go.
- Let's go.
Shit!
- [WALKERS GROWLING]
- [CAGE CLANKING]
[RUMBLING, CRACKING]
[CAGE RATTLING]
[WALKER GROWLING]
- [SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC]
- [WALKERS GROWLING]
[MAGGIE GRUNTS]
[GRUNTING]
[SQUISH]
[WALKERS GROWLING]
Grab as much as you
can as fast as you can.
Then fall back to the apartment.
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC]
[NEGAN GRUNTING]
[WALKERS GROWLING]
[GRUNTING]
[MOANS]
- [RING DINGING]
- [GENTLE MUSIC]
[MAGGIE GRUNTING]
[GENTLE MUSIC]
[MAGGIE GRUNTING]
- [NEGAN GRUNTS]
- Maggie!
[GRUNTS]
I love you.
- [NEGAN] Maggie!
- [GRUNTS]
- Maggie, we gotta go.
- [MAGGIE] My ring.
My ring! I have to find it!
[NEGAN GRUNTS]
[RUMBLING]
[BANG]
Building's about to
go. We gotta move, now.
But we barely got anything.
Hey, we can't eat if we're
dead. Let's do what she says.
- [RENATA] Hershel, now!
- [HERSHEL] Okay.
[RUMBLING]
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
[CLANKING, CRASHING]
This way, this way, come on!
- Come on, this way!
- Yeah!
[CRACKING]
Come on, let's go! Let's go! Let's go!
Come on!
- [DRAMATIC MUSIC]
- [CRACKING]
Let's go, let's go, let's go! Come on!
Damn it!
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
[RUMBLING, GLASS SHATTERING]
[MAGGIE] Ah!
[PANTING]
[WIND GUSTING]
There must be hundreds
of walkers in here.
- How are we gonna do this?
- We're gonna need help.
This is not your
typical walker wrangling.
One false move, and
somebody's getting bit.
Me and God, we have
one thing in common
We despise cowards.
- [SCREAMING]
- Open the gates.
You open the gates, we all die.
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC PLAYS]
- The boys of "Dead City."
- [CHUCKLES]
We looked at a lot of
auditions for the character
of Luis, and Raul was the guy.
With your boy here as leverage,
our plan just got a
hell of a lot easier.
- My boy?
- Raul
a gem of a person, a handsome fella,
once he shaved his beard off.

What was important to
us was that at no point
would Luis feel like a
replacement for Glenn.
Glenn is never leaving Maggie's heart,
and her connection to Glenn is something
that's deeply in her character.
It feels wrong, almost,
for the world to be
this beautiful anymore.
Maybe that's the trade.
The world takes everything but
leaves a little beauty behind.
I love doing that episode.
There's just, like, a sense
of softness that is there.
And shooting it with
Raul was so much fun.
We were just able to just find
such small character moments
that felt kind of indie film-ish
that we'd never get to
do in "The Walking Dead."
That we can drop that tone
in the middle of the season
is pretty remarkable.
I'm really excited about that.
