I just finished going
through Glenn's results.
And?
Any ideas?
Well, his liver enzymes
are slightly elevated, so
there could be an underlying condition
contributing to his
neurological symptoms.
That's what I thought too, but
I can't find what's causing it.
There's no sign of infection,
cirrhosis, hemochromatosis.
And you tested for hepatitis?
Yes.
Does he have any history of
Wilson's disease in his family?
Not that I'm aware of.
And no issues with alcohol?
Only drinks socially
a couple times a month.
Is he on any long-term
statins, antibiotics or NSAIDs?
No.
I've requested a couple
additional blood tests.

the results come back.

Said he's only been to his golf course
and that new development he's building.

So, experiencing tremors,
general malaise, loss of appetite,
severe headaches, uh, disorientation.
And he's developed a rash.
Didn't see that on his chart.

Didn't you mention that the firefighter
we brought in the other

Do you think there
could be a connection?

him, see what we can find out.

lawns, that sort of thing.
Do you remember
experiencing any symptoms
before you volunteered at the lodge?
I was feeling really tired,
and my stomach's been off.
I just figured I was
coming down with something.
Do you golf?
I don't have that kind of patience.

Jacob collected are back.
So, what did the lab say?
They showed signs of
contamination with heavy metals,
particularly arsenic.
Arsenic?
As in poison?
Yeah, it's found in a lot
of airborne pollutants,
like diesel exhaust,
pesticides that drift in the area.
Pesticides like the ones that
landscaping companies use.
Yeah. Why?
Oh, how did I miss that?
I have to call Dr. Rabney.
I know what's wrong with Mark and Glenn.

DR. RABNEY: It seems Mark works
for the same landscaping company
Glenn uses at the golf course.
Looks like they were
trying to get rid of
some leftover pesticide that
had recently been banned.
Mark didn't know they'd made the switch,
and he was put in charge of spraying.
So, his allergic reaction
was compounded by the
arsenic already in his system.
Yeah. And because Glenn lives
and works at the golf course
He had a higher exposure
than the rest of his members
or staff, which is why no one
else exhibited any symptoms.
Exactly. And thanks to you,
I've got them both started
on a treatment plan.
Well, I'm just glad
we caught it in time.
