Project Runway: All Stars (2012) s04e01 Episode Script

Made in Manhattan

This competition is the hunger games of fashion.
It's gonna be fierce and awful, but it's gonna be good.
I'm from season 12.
I came in second.
Number two wasn't good enough.
I'm here to win.
On season 12, I was second runner-up.
I need to win this competition to show the world what I'm capable of.
How are you? I'm so good.
It's wonderful to see Alexandria back, and she is probably one of my bigger competitor.
I'm really banking on winning this time, but it's all up to whether or not I can control my emotions.
Hi.
How are you? Oh, my God.
Hi.
Hi.
So Alexandria's back.
That's like putting a cat and a dog in, like, a small space with no windows or doors.
What's with the crying? I don't get that.
Helen needs her hand held.
I still can't seem to put my finger on why Alexandria has so much hate for me.
Am I crazy? Maybe.
It's nice to see you.
It's hopefully gonna be nice to see each other.
She's crazy.
Oh, [Bleep.]
.
Don't use that.
My confidence level is pretty high just because I have a lot of experience.
I'm a little older than a lot of the people here.
I'm a little nervous because I quit my job to be on Project Runway All Stars.
I really have no choice but to win.
Project Runway All Stars is the best of the best, so I'm really excited and honored to be here.
Also, I'm really nervous.
I'm from Project Runway season 11, which was teams.
I never got the opportunity to work by myself.
I want to be able to, like-- i did what I wanted to do, how I wanted to do it.
Samantha.
Aah! My biggest weakness was the time management.
I feel more confident now.
I'm much more focused.
In season 11, i was the runner-up.
It was neck to neck with Michelle.
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
In life, you don't really get that many second chances.
I thought I was gonna win.
There was dmitry, myself, and dmitry won.
Thank you, guys.
Thank you very much.
Next time.
I do have what it takes to win.
That's why I'm here.
I'm a rather blunt personality.
I mean, I was definitely the villain of season 10.
My team needs to stop micromanaging me.
I don't want to work with all these [Bleep.]
people.
Hey, lady.
[Laughs.]
Stop.
Yeah, fabio beat me, however, comma, I'm not that worried about it.
I'm not really worried about anybody.
Oh.
I'm so competitive.
Not just I'm gonna do the best I can.
My only goal is winning Project Runway All Stars.
All right, let's go, let's go.
Designers, welcome back to New York and welcome to Project Runway All Stars.
Whoo-hoo! I'm Alyssa Milano, and I am so excited to return as your host.
She's on it.
She's sweet, but she's not gonna give us any, any, any slack.
On All Stars, you have to expect the unexpected.
And speaking of expecting-- she is Pregnant the due date is not till the end of the season, but I'm not sure I can handle any surprises, so just keep things very calm.
This is a tough competition, but now you're all-stars, and all-stars can handle anything, right? So we've invited two former winners of project runwato join you.
Oh, crap.
Please welcome season 10 winner, dmitry.
I knew it.
I am back.
It's not about winning.
It's about winning again.
Hi, darling.
Dmitry's here--yay.
"Not really.
" And season 11 winner, Michelle.
Being on Project Runway is like getting a tattoo, and you forget what the torture is like, and you come back on again.
I'm really nervous when I see Michelle walk out.
You know, we weren't the best of friends.
I don't know why, but that girl gets under my skin.
Okay, then go join that family.
There are two people that i was hoping that are not here-- fabio [Laughs.]
And Michelle.
I think she might be the big competition for me.
I think it's really unfair to have returning winners come back, but they're gonna have a week where they're tired.
They're gonna [Bleep.]
up, and we're gonna be there to step right up when they do.
Since you guys are all so good, there is no immunity on All Stars.
You will find out all the prize details before your first runway.
To critique your work, I'll be joined by designers Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman with some very, very special guests along the way, and your mentor is senior fashion editor of Marie clairmagazine, Zanna Roberts Rassi.
Our interpreter, Samantha, is back to help us communicate with one of our designers, and you'll be staying at Gotham west, one of New York's newest and most luxurious apartment buildings and home to Gotham west market.
Are you ready for your first challenge? All: Yes.
No.
We're starting your journey at the very heart of New York, grand central terminal.
There's an equal number of male and female designers here, so I'm gonna split you into two groups.
The seven men will produce a collection, and the seven women will produce another collection, but each of you is responsible for your own look.
You will be judged individually.
Your collections will be inspired by either New York's uptown scene or New York's downtown scene.
I want downtown.
I understand the downtown girl, 'cause that's me, and designing for myself is always easy.
To decide your destinations, I have a simple subway token.
So, dmitry, why don't you call it? Do you want silver or gold? Gold.
Gold.
It's gold.
Boys, do you want uptown or downtown? Downtown.
Downtown.
That means the girls--you guys have the uptown collection.
So take an hour or so to look around your location and get inspired to sketch.
The winning design will come from the most successful collection, and from the least successful, someone will be eliminated.
Each collection has a budget of $1,500 to shop at mood, and how you split that up in your group is totally up to you.
I'll see you on the runway for the presentation of your collections tomorrow.
Oh, [Bleep.]
.
One day.
One day.
Uptown--it reads class, rich, sophisticated, but still has, like, this edge.
The downtown vibe really fits my aesthetic.
It's edgy.
It's hard.
It's rock and roll.
So who do you think our girl is? Fashion-student girl? No, I would say she already has a job.
Like, this is an uptown New York socialite kind of girl.
Yeah.
She really doesn't work.
She's a party girl, but not a downtown, coke-sniffing party girl.
She's an uptown, champagne, finger-up party girl.
We've established who this person is.
Now we need to know what she's gonna wear.
We're sitting alongside the Plaza.
Looking at it, the colors-- I love the whole palette.
It's perfect.
And I think it's really modern.
I am making a cute and extremely expensive leather dress-- open back, a tiny little cutout in suede and leather.
So it's really, really high end.
Since winning, I've been all over the world.
I'm in the process of opening up my shop.
The risk of coming back is that there's a giant bull's-eye on my back, but as long as I stay focused, I think that I will take this title.
I decided to stick with something that I'm comfortable making, and a jumpsuit is something that's absolutely the most comfortable thing a woman can wear, but at the same time is edgy.
I saw this guy wearing this kilt.
He had, like, obviously found the kilt in the garbage or something.
My downtown look is kind of like what would happen if you took your boyfriend's flannel shirt and tied it around your waist.
And so what's this? My girl is coming from uptown, and now she's moved downtown.
Almost like a t-shirt dress, but out of, like, a silk Jersey.
If somebody showed me that, I'd say it was one of the girls' sketches for an uptown look.
Downtown doesn't have to mean grunge.
It doesn't have to mean punk.
There's a whole world downtown.
There's something about Ben's personality that's kind of obnoxious.
You have to be able to take people's feedback and not take them personally.
What's that? We got 30 minutes, $1,500.
This is expensive.
Like, a rich girl wants that.
I love your swatch.
Let's see it.
This dress is a simple dress-- silk organza, silk wool crepe with a nice touch of leather.
Five minutes, guys! Five minutes! Do you need any hardware? We need to make a decision now.
I'm really anxious.
I just see a whole pile of fabric, and I'm hoping we have everything.
Perfect.
Thank you, my darling.
That's time! Thank you.
See you next time.
[Laughs.]
Here we are.
The workroom is super dope.
It's a nice work environment.
It's got a nice little lounge in it.
Oh, wow.
This is cute, guys.
We see the QVC accessory wall, and I'm very, very happy.
There's some good stuff on here.
I love this sewing room.
I walk into the brother's sewing and embroidery studio, and I see all these beautiful sewing machines, some with new technology on it.
Where's that white wool crate? We were unpacking, then I realize that my fabric is not here, and it's an "oh, [Bleep.]
" Moment.
We're missing a fabric? Yeah.
It just didn't get cut, or it got cut, it didn't get paid for, or it got paid for and got left behind.
It just--it isn't here.
Oh, [Bleep.]
.
What am I gonna do? Where's that white wool crate? We were unpacking, then I realize my fabric is not here.
It's not this one.
Fabio would have to redesign his whole concept using the available fabrics that we have.
Look at everyone's sketches, and look at the fabrics that we have, and then really come up with a plan.
This is All Stars.
You don't have your fabric, boo-hoo.
I'm gonna do a white dress.
I decided to do a nice, little a-line dress with a sexy, sculpted bustline.
Kate's dress would be the one dress that the uptown girl would not be wearing, and being here three times, i think that she should know better.
I think you're good to go.
Thank you, ladies.
Can you believe we're back doing this again? Remember that thing that gave you anxiety for, like, a year? Welcome back.
Things changed so much for me after being on Project Runway.
I've had lots of different celebrity clients, like Beyonce and lady gaga.
My style has evolved.
He is so seasoned as a designer.
He might be a little bit of a threat.
Are you just, like, dabbing it? No.
It's got to get wet.
Like, when you make fringe, you have to wet it to twist it.
I start working on the fabrication of my leather, make my strips.
As a native American, i have this unique voice that nobody else has.
I'm always looking to find that new way of using that material.
I feel like I'm bringing something new to the plate, and that's the only way i can function.
I'm concerned about Patricia's look.
I don't really get what this finished garment is going to look like.
The girls are, like, getting concerned.
They can't see the direction, and I'm just like, "just chill.
She's got this.
This is her method.
" I'm making a jumpsuit.
I want to keep the front heavy and dark, and I want to play it off with a really soft accent in the back.
From the materials that we brought back, i think I have enough to work with.
I'm not really sure about Ben's look.
It's more uptown.
Uptown, downtown-- it all converges at some point.
Maybe it's a risk that I'm having any element of uptown in this challenge, but that's who I'm designing for.
I'm making this little black cocktail dress with long sleeves, and I'm gonna use chains and all kinds of beads to make this neck piece.
Since winning season 10, i had a show in moscow.
I had a show in Panama city.
I had a collection for Lord & Taylor.
Winning All Stars is gonna be the next big step.
My vision for my look is the floor-length gown.
I mean, that's kind of my forte.
I need to win this time.
I'm sick of making dresses out of my kitchen that I can't cook out of because then these, like, thousand-dollar custom dresses are smelling like burritos and stuff.
Hi.
Hello, All Stars.
All: Hello.
I'm Zanna.
I'm your mentor for this season.
I am obsessed with Zanna.
I love her style.
I love that she doesn't take no [Bleep.]
from anybody.
As your senior fashion editor at Marie Claire, i work with the best designers and clothes on the planet.
Use me as much as you can before you're out there on the runway and you have absolutely no lifeboat.
Now we're gonna split into good old-fashioned boys versus girls.
Now, I'm gonna be polite and start with the ladies.
Hi, Helen.
Hey.
How's it going? Well, we were given uptown girl.
Mm-hmm.
And I decided that I would do an evening gown.
I've used crepe before, and it's kind of just like liquid.
But you have to have perfection, because if there's something a little bit off here Right.
Then you're gonna see it.
Um, she's got a lot of money in her pocket she's willing to burn.
I like that.
So I spent my entire budget on suede and leather.
Georgina and Isaac may think it's a bit too cool for an uptown girl.
Michelle's look-- it's a little too flared.
You know, like, mm.
Okay.
These are, like, a pomegranate opening.
This detail and this flow-y silhouette don't marry with the uptown, sophisticated lady.
It feels a little bit too bohemian.
Patricia's look looks a little bit like a bloated circus tent.
I just don't know what girl is gonna wear that.
This peplum detail-- yeah, what do you think about that? It's kind of beautiful without it.
It's not gonna have--oops.
She's a single girl.
She's young.
She's flirty.
Single A little higher? Young Flirty.
Right, right, right.
You've got this modern, modern clean line.
Okay.
And then you've got this girly, girly skirt.
Maybe there's other ways you can make it more modern.
I just spent hours working on this beautifully draped skirt, but I know she's right.
I need to basically make a new garment.
Hello, Chris.
Hi.
Nice to meet you.
How are you? You too.
So we're the downtown team, and my girl is the most east village-y girl.
This kilt is great.
Oh, thank you.
I love a kilt.
Is this gonna be the length? Yes, do you think it's too short? I'm all for, like, risque, but let's not go too short with that.
Don't want any cheeks.
I'm going to be very direct.
Yes, go ahead.
She feels way more uptown than she does downtown.
All of a sudden, I'm having major anxiety.
Oh, my God, like, I'm going home.
There's things you can do.
Think about the neckline.
Let's think about the asymmetry.
Think about hair, makeup, styling, accessories.
So I have a vest and a pair of pants.
Hallelujah, someone is doing a pant.
Honestly Mm-hmm? I hate this.
Really? It's, like, Chloe sevigny meets wonder woman doing bridal.
Okay.
Zanna hates what I'm working on.
I don't agree.
It's perfectly nice.
Oh, nice is not good.
You need a wow factor to this, something that's gonna stand out.
As soon as Zanna leaves the table, I freak out silently, 'cause nobody needs to know my [Bleep.]
.
Okay, all-stars, I am seeing some really good work here.
I've spoken to all of you about the importance of great hair and makeup design.
Luckily for you, you've got the experts at chi hair care and Mary Kay makeup to help you on your way.
Good luck, and I'll see you next time.
Thank you.
Thank you.
[Applause.]
There's this little piece of leather left, and I can see that I can use it as a strap.
It can amp up the edge, and it can also give the wow factor that this is needing right now.
How are you? Awesome.
Let's do this.
One view is that it's a little bit uptown.
Zanna's advice was, "give it some more asymmetry," and I take it on board.
I really respect Zanna.
It is just not the easiest.
When you're trying to do work in leather, it's really hard to tailor.
Once you perforate a hole, that hole stays there.
I need to focus on my darts.
If it is a non-stretch material, you'll need a dart in order to shape your breasts.
Thank you so much.
Hurry up, baby girl.
It's almost the end of the day, and my goal was to create something for the top that would at least cover her nipples.
It's time, everyone.
I'm really frustrated.
My work isn't completely done.
If you are surprised when it's the end of the day and you're not finished, you're kind of screwed.
Yay.
Welcome back.
I know.
Hello.
I got things to do.
Okay, let's do it.
The morning of the runway, we only have two hours to get everything done that we need to get finished.
Yeah, I thought I was gonna be able to resist the nerves third time around.
No.
I'm just like, "what happened?" I was looking so good.
I had everything organized, and, like, here I am, rushing at the last minute.
Anybody have black pairs on our side? Yes, yes, right on the-- that table.
Thank you.
It's been quite a while since I've behaved like a chicken with its head cut off, but honestly, people get frantic and go crazy.
I don't know why I left.
I've got a lot to do, and the leather trim that I wanted to add i didn't have time for [Gasps.]
So I have to get the hem finished.
I'm pretty, like, nervous here.
Hi.
How are you? How are you? Good.
And try not to, like, bounce up and down a lot.
I might cut here a little bit.
I don't want your arms to feel like I'm cutting in.
In my eyes, you're going to an art gallery.
Oh! It's perfect! I will probably sew you into this dress.
We're in good shape.
I put the jumpsuit on her, and it's the boost of confidence that I need.
Everything is perfect.
We have uptown girl.
We're gonna do all the same makeup--fresh, a little sunny because we have a spring line.
Let's try citrus flirt.
Yeah.
Can we go as bright as we want it to.
Good, because she might have just come back from Saint-tropez.
Welcome to the chi hair care salon.
Make it stylized, but like she's done it herself.
Say, like, girl who, like, threw it up in the morning.
I want all the models to look exactly like lorde.
Now it's evening, and it's just a big mess.
Okay.
Ten minutes till runway! Ugh! I think Patricia's look-- it's beautiful, albeit a bit of a snooze fest.
I don't know if time management was an issue, but she didn't do any of her textile techniques.
I think that's kind of a shame.
Should I go up or down? Chris--it's a bit cliche maybe.
I've seen it 3,000 times.
Oh, my gosh, girl, you look so hot.
She looks bangin'.
I don't know about Kate, because she did white, and it's so stark in comparison to the rest of the collection.
It is perfect.
Kate's going bridal or eastern European hired hooker.
It's like the little mermaid came out of the sea and started living uptown, and now she's going to a cocktail party.
I just don't get it.
I don't get the clamshells on the bust.
Take my word for it-- you look hot.
Five minutes to runway.
You two switch.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
The girls did not put together very different types of looks.
They all seem to be kind of, you know, basic tube dresses.
You guys look beautiful.
I honestly really do think that downtown is gonna win.
Everything's fine.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm looking at the downtown boys, and I see two things that look spectacular and then a whole lot of really, really cheap, teenage--tweenage, like, we're talking tween, not even teen--clothing.
We're aiming for girl power here.
[Laughter.]
Hi, designers.
Hi.
Hi.
14 of you have returned for the biggest Project Runway All Stars season so far.
After tonight, 13 of you will be one step closer to the grand prize.
The winner of Project Runway All Stars will be given the chance to create their own capsule collection with QVC and will appear on QVC's spring fashion week It would be so amazing to create a collection with QVC.
Their market base is huge.
A fashion spread in Marie Claire, and a position as contributing editor for one year.
Wow.
That's nice.
Chi hair care will send the winner to stay in a luxury spa and resort as special guests at their international conference in Cancun, Mexico Hola.
Plus, product and staff for an entire year of your runway shows.
From Mary Kay, an entire year's worth of beauty products for your fashion shows and professional makeup-artist services for your debut shows.
And there's more.
[Laughs.]
From Brother Sewing and embroidery, a complete sewing and crafting studio to launch your line, and $150,000 in cash.
Whoo-hoo.
The prize on the line is massive.
I want to [Bleep.]
win.
Let's meet our judges.
First, cofounder of luxury brand Marchesa, designer Georgina Chapman.
Hi, designers.
Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, designer Isaac Mizrahi.
Hi, designers.
And our guest is the founder of an apparel and accessories brand for women who work.
Her father may be one of the most successful businessmen in the world, but Donald trump still takes advice from his extremely talented daughter.
Please welcome the executive vice president of the trump organization, ivanka trump.
[Applause.]
Hello, everyone.
Remember, we want to see cohesive collections, because the winner will come from the most successful team.
Will it be the boys or the girls? I can't wait to see your first All Stars runway.
Have a great show.
Thank you.
I'm really happy with how it turned out.
The dress is moving great.
The neck looks great.
I think the suede looks really supple, and I just want to touch it.
Great job, Michelle.
It's my first all-leather dress.
I'm proud of my work.
I'm looking at how beautiful the neckline is, how versatile this dress can be.
It's gorgeous.
It's a beautiful garment, but I'm not really happy with the darts.
It's not a good feeling.
I feel like my garments came out really well.
I love the finishing.
Just the touch of the leather on the shoulders and on the side of the skirt really kind of brings a slight edge to the uptown woman.
My model looks great.
She just looks so long and classy and, like, classic, and I'm like, "yes.
" My model's confident.
She's exactly what I envisioned this uptown girl to be.
It's strong, but flirty.
There's presence to the garment.
My model looks beautiful, effortless, cool, like a million bucks.
I'm like, "all right, she's just gonna, like, keep walking, just, like, levitate because she's, like, fashion angel right now.
" Oh, good.
This is my bond girl.
My model looked hot on that runway.
She's walking it out.
Her body looks amazing.
My kilt is working great on the runway.
It's swinging back and forth.
It looks expensive.
Great skirt, Chris.
I'm pretty sure that mine's gonna be in the top.
I am very proud that this is my first look that I have created on Project Runway All Stars.
I have not won one challenge in season 12, so I think it's very important for me to win this time around.
I'm feeling really great about my piece.
I have an edgy look, very downtown.
It's a standout piece.
I like her.
I like her look.
She looks strong.
She looks edgy.
She looks exactly how I wanted her to look.
She looks amazing.
I am so happy.
If the judges turn around and say that this is too uptown, then you can't win because there's no way that this is uptown.
I hope the judges notice everything about this look.
Baby girl's gonna give it to you.
It's so you.
Every single detail is on point.
I'm not usually one to say, "I got this," but this time I have this.
I love it.
I think it looks really cool, and it's very versatile.
It's a showpiece.
Let's start with the good news and the winning collection, and that was The boys' downtown look.
[Applause.]
[Laughter.]
Girls, your uptown collection was the least successful.
If I call your name, please step forward.
Justin and Jay, Gunnar and dmitry, sonjia and Sam, Alexandria and Helen The eight of you are safe and through to next week.
You can go to the backstage lounge.
We have the high scores from the downtown collection, and that means one of you is the winner of this week's challenge, and the low scores from the uptown collection, and that means one of you will be eliminated tonight.
It's time for your critiques, so let's bring out your models.
Kate, we're gonna start with you.
So my girl's going to a garden party on a rooftop somewhere.
I think it pulls in all of what I'm about.
I believe that all women are beautiful, sexy, and strong.
I like natural boobs, right? And I like-- good to know.
Seriously, i like a natural boob, and I like this idea of augmenting in this kind of '50s way where the cups are too big.
But sadly, you missed me because you made the dress too tight, you know.
I think the fabric makes it feel a touch old-fashioned, and that stripe at the bottom is cutting her up.
This dress to me was a lot of ideas that didn't really work together, even down to the slit in the back.
To me, is way to high.
Like, there's almost Booty there.
It doesn't feel uptown somehow.
It's a little too va-va-va-voom.
Your turn, Michelle.
Young girl, money in her pocket to burn-- i used this beautiful perforated pig suede.
It's kind of chichi.
She's my girl.
I like this.
Thank you.
I think it does have an uptown sensibility, you know, a little bit of sexiness, but in a very reserved, sophisticated sort of way.
That fabric looks a little like car-seat upholstery.
Oh, boy.
I'm so sorry, but it does.
That is expensive car-seat fabric.
The thing I don't like is the back of the dress.
That's where you lose me.
I just wish the whole dress was made of one thing.
Even if you just lost the green and just had the white at the back, I think it might have been more successful.
Patricia, let's move on to you.
She's a socialite.
So, when she attends different parties, her a-line dress is interchangeable to marry with some of the other collections, and then if she turns around, just like this little bit of flutter of how she's moving so fast.
I actually love that it's a-line because I've been wearing a lot of a-line lately.
Right, I saw that.
Thank you.
But otherwise I don't really feel much from it.
All right.
I love the idea of this dress, but this is not a great color on a woman.
In fact, to me, it looks a bit dirty.
Can you turn to the side? The breast darts are not doing good things from the side, and I think that's something you want to watch, is your fabrication.
Thank you.
So now let's move on to the top looks in the winning collection.
Fabio, you're first.
The main thing that I had in mind was a girl that's fashion forward but, at the same time, comfortable, and immediately I thought of a jumpsuit, which it has ease, but it has a little bit of an edge.
Fabio, I love your design Thank you.
And I also love that the jumpsuit has the oyster color in the back.
There's a chic to the idea of the bone showing in the front a little bit too, like you threw the whole thing forward.
Mm-hmm.
I'm gonna keep it really short, okay? Mm.
I want this on my body.
Okay, let's do it.
Let's do it.
I love it, and I love how it's, like, business in the front and party in the back.
I love this.
My only slight criticism is that maybe I would have gone for a little bit more length in the pant.
It sort of falls just a tiny bit too short.
Okay.
Chris.
While we were down in the east village, i happened to see a slightly crazy guy walking around the street, and he had taken this kilt and wrapped it completely wrong and put this giant belt around it, and I looked, and I thought, "that is so cool.
" Crazy about that skirt.
Something reminds me about when we used to tie flannels around our waist in the '90s.
That's exactly what this was supposed to look like.
Yes, it's beautiful.
Thank you.
I love the heaviness of the bottom and the lightness of the top and how it works very well together.
I love the idea of doing a corset, but you know, the point of a corset is to hold a woman, and right now that corset's loose on her.
It feels a little bit cliche downtown for my taste.
It doesn't feel that modern to me.
We're gonna move on to Benjamin.
The architecture of the dress is something that I'm really exploring recently with my work, so this dress is a flat circle, and then I've just strategically cut out the neckline, cut out the sleeves.
Congratulations.
I love your dress.
Thank you so much.
There's something about this where you actually captured a drama and her body at the same time, you know.
I'm crazy about it.
Thank you.
So many things could have possibly gone wrong with this dress, from the symmetry, the way the fabric is cut, the belt, and yet, under your eye, everything works together.
What's interesting about this is you've treated the fabric in a very graphic way, yet this dress feels so free and easy, and I love that juxtaposition.
Thank you.
You've all given us a lot to think about, so now we're gonna deliberate, and why don't you guys join the others in the backstage lounge? Thank you.
What'd they say? They didn't like my choice of material combination, but I like my piece.
So what did they say about yours? It was really split.
Kate, what did they say about yours? Like, I mean, Isaac was like, it's too tight for his taste.
Alyssa didn't like it at all.
I think, despite it all, congratulations to everyone.
Yeah, first challenge done.
It's not [Bleep.]
easy.
Let's discuss the top scores from the winning collection, shall we? Let's start with Chris.
I thought Chris was very original.
His entry tonight was fabulous, but it was mostly due to the wittiness of the styling and not so much about the fashion.
He's very on the nose, but I think that there was something kind of special about that skirt.
The belt killed me.
It was so chunky and bulky and, truthfully, felt a little bit cheesy.
Benjamin.
That was my favorite piece.
I loved it.
He knows what he's doing, this child, you know.
And I love that he had a very distinct alternative design concept.
I loved his referenced architecture.
It was very considered, and I like that.
There was a graphic element.
There was a free element.
Fabio and the jumpsuit.
I loved this.
I loved it too.
I thought it was polished, yet it had a edgy quality.
Beautiful in the colors.
I was loving the ease of it, and then when she turned around, i was like, "really? All that?" Maybe those straps were an afterthought.
Now the hard part, let's talk about the low scores in the least successful collection.
Should we start with Michelle? I liked it.
It was feminine and uptown, but a youthful uptown.
I have to say I'm fairly-- i thought that was a cheap ultra suede with a stripe.
For me, it almost came across as, like, a tweedy texture.
I couldn't even tell that it was suede.
That's why I said "car seat.
" Okay, so let's talk about Patricia.
The thing about this dress, it's a block that's the wrong length and the wrong color with-- talk about boobs that look bad.
No woman could wear that dress.
She gave us torpedo darts.
I agree.
Patricia's execution was dreadful.
With that said, she had a concept, you know, the way she was talking about the open back, the way she had wanted to achieve a silhouette.
Kate.
I just don't know what to say about this dress.
I just had a really hard time with every single aspect of it.
It feels like the model should be standing in the mermaid parade on a float.
But, you know, Kate at least did a little manipulation.
She tried to do something a little out of the box.
I think Kate took a shot, but to me, everything shows poor taste.
So we've made our decision? Okay, let's bring out our designers.
Designers, three of you have looks in the winning collection, and one of those designs is the winner.
The other three had looks in the least successful collection, and one of you will be eliminated tonight.
Designers, three of you have looks in the winning collection, and one of those designs is the winner.
Chris, you are safe this week, and you can leave the runway.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Fabio and Benjamin, one of you is the winner this week.
[Sighs.]
And we have a little surprise for the winner.
Yeah? Our guest, ivanka, has agreed to wear the winning design.
Wow.
So, ivanka, why don't you do the honors and announce this week's winning design.
This week's winning designer is Fabio.
[Applause.]
Congratulations.
I'm excited.
Thank you so much.
Lookit, my hands won't stop shaking.
Congratulations, fabio and Benjamin.
Thank you so, so much.
Thank you.
Good job.
You can leave the runway.
Thank you.
Oh, my God, I can't believe i won the first challenge of All Stars.
I came here to do good work, and the judges noticed that.
[Cheers and applause.]
Ivanka's gonna wear it.
Oh, really? Yep.
Oh, that is awesome.
She's gonna wear it.
Michelle You are safe Just.
You can leave the runway.
Thank you very much.
Patricia and Kate, you are both talented designers, but only one of you can stay.
The eliminated designer tonight is Patricia.
That means, Kate, you remain in the competition.
[Voice breaking.]
Thank you.
You can leave the runway.
I love you.
Me too.
[Sniffles.]
I'm safe.
You're safe? [Crying.]
But that means Patricia's going home.
Oh, that's, like, your best friend.
Oh, girl, girl, girl.
Patricia, thank you so much for joining us on All Stars.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity.
Sorry I couldn't show you more of my fabulous work.
Good luck with everything.
[Speaking native American dialect.]
Thank you, Patricia.
It's hard to go so soon in the game, but we have to be strong to be able to go forward.
[Shouting wildly.]
Wow.
Oh, Patricia.
Somebody has to start the drama, though.
I'm a resilient woman that will go right back into what I love the most, and that is being an individual designer.
You're already hugely successful.
I know.
And you have such a strong voice.
I know I'm talented.
I know I'm excellent.
Love you.
We love you.
I'm gonna keep true to my heart, and I'm gonna go with it.
This season on Project Runway All Stars Hi.
How about this for an entrance? Oh, my God.
You are all-stars.
No excuses on the runway.
It looks like-- a bride of Frankenstein.
This is bull[Bleep.]
.
Cut the crap and make the gown.
No, don't touch that! Hey! You're stealing my [Bleep.]
.
You need to relax.
Welcome to the long island aquarium.
The Broadway production wicked.
You may kiss the bride and walk the runway.
Whoo-hoo! We're sending you to Paddington station, London, england.
[All cheering.]
There's big Ben.
Oh.
Please welcome Ariel winter, Laverne Cox, Debra messing, Nigel barker, Nicole scherzinger, Kat Healy, jwoww and snooki, and Nina Garcia.
Did you run out of time? What happened? Why the hanging appendage? That is not a good dress, period.
You're killing me here.
We are just a bunch of bitches, right? I think you're the one to beat.
I want to be this woman.
I think it's absolutely beautiful.
It's not enough to make it work.
You have to make it happen.
