until DACA came along
and gave me the opportunity
to get a driver's license
and go to college and
get an amazing job,
all without fear.
Yes, technically, we're undocumented.
But I love this country
with every fibre in my being,
even though it doesn't
always love me back.
And now, today,
I can be ripped away
from my young daughter,
who was born here,
without even getting to talk to her.
I won't judge my parents
for entering this country
without legal documentation
because they were trying
to give me a better life.
But I took the steps
to do it the right away,
and those agents still didn't care.
They took one look at our Brown skin,
and that was the only
status that mattered to them.
Have you really not been able
to get in contact with your daughter?
