Aeon Flux (1995) s02e01 Episode Script

Gravity

"Gravity.
" I loved the intro of this.
Super spy.
Amazing tongue work.
Actually, you know, I think I got the idea for doing that camera angle from the Rugrats pilot.
There was a shot in that where we were looking through one of the twins' mouths at the other one.
And I just thought it was a great way to show one character's dominance over another is to see them framed within the open mouth of the character in the foreground.
And, somehow, that made it into Aeon Flux in a different context.
Once we got into the interior of this there's a background sound.
It's as though it's a political radio.
I wanted to give a sense that there's a dictatorship of some sort.
So, it was kind of a mix of fake Breen dialogue, and cheering crowds and what later became the Breen national anthem.
Just a throwaway.
And as we get to the exterior it was a B-25 that I actually recorded accidentally just lucked out.
Found one at Burbank Airport.
So, at this point, I guess I might as well mention that I had decided that Aeon Flux was going to die in every one of these shorts.
And, not only was she going to die but she was going to fail in what she had set out to do.
Spectacularly.
But that the initial mission usually was just a way of getting the story in motion getting the character in motion, and that because she would get sidetracked or, in this case, she would, well She's distracted here.
Well, that's the thing, is that she has to come up with a reason for continuing falling and she finds one.
You know, obviously, the idea being that the height of this fall sort of represents the duration of how much you have left to live.
This one was tougher on the sound effects.
I think I wrote the music for this one in about two hours but the sound effects took several days.
I'm not sure why the music went so much more easily.
I think it's because I already knew what I was doing by then.
I'm kind of loathe to comment on what's happening in the stories.
I think it's very self-explanatory, and I also think that it kind of defeats the purpose of why I made these films Well, here's a sense that we might actually make it out of this after all this falling.
There's a chance that But she got distracted at the very last, and, well, obviously that's the reason for her downfall.
And as we cut to black, well a horrible noise.
