Hollywood Week, Part 3

1 Last week The fate of these 28 guys was left hanging in the balance.
20 of you will stay.
Eight of you will still have to leave.
But they won't find out who until tomorrow night, because - today - Wake up, Candice.
It's time for you to go to Hollywood.
- [Groans.]
- It's the girls' turn to sing it out in Hollywood.
It's time to get up and rock and roll.
Your future awaits.
The remaining 162 female contestants are packing their bags I'm going to Hollywood.
- Good luck.
- And readying themselves for a trip that could change their lives forever.
Hollywood, the ladies have arrived.
- They touched down ready to win - Whoo! - Hollywood, baby! As they arrived with high hopes.
- You boys are going down! - This year there's gonna be a - girl winner.
- Yeah! - They don't know it yet - Whoo! Hollywood week, I'm ready for you.
But some of them are standing on the verge of greatness [All cheering.]
- That rocked! - A smash-hit wonder! - You girls are the best of the best.
As we witness some of the greatest female performances we've seen in years I made it, guys! And drama like we've never had before.
My problem isn't the [Bleep.]
lyrics.
You're letting your group down.
There's no way that can't be a disaster.
She just keeps doing it wrong.
- It's not gonna work.
- It's never good enough.
It's the end of the road for you guys.
- [Crying.]
- I'm so sorry to disappoint everybody.
I asked you to turn it off once.
Who will come out on top? - You are our top 20 season 12.
- You're about to find out, as Hollywood week Starts anew.
[Upbeat techno music.]
This is where dreams can be made or destroyed.
The boys have had their chance.
Now it's the girls' turn to face Hollywood week.
Ladies are coming, everybody.
Ladies are coming.
[Overlapping chatter.]
- Wow.
- They have all come here looking for an opportunity to turn their dream into reality.
It's kind of getting me on edge a little bit.
Hopefully, you know, that all goes away, 'cause as soon as I get up there, it's my only chance.
But to do that, they're going to have to give the best performance of their lives.
Many of them won't survive the first round, and the judges are looking to the ladies to deliver.
Let's hope we have just a group of girls that want to make their dreams come true.
- Tada.
- We got to have the best singer, period.
I would love it to be a girl this year.
So the girls-it's gonna be a tough day for them, man, 'cause we're ready to slice and dice, baby.
The rules are simple.
- Next line, here we go.
- The contestants will come out in lines of ten, and each of them will get to sing one song a cappella.
If their performance fails to impress our judges, they will be eliminated from the competition right there on the spot.
This year in Hollywood, there are many more girls than guys, which means the judges are going to have to make some massive cuts.
- Let's go.
- With the competition being more cutthroat than ever I've got to calm myself down.
Sometimes I have too much energy, and I start to, like The first line was definitely feeling the pressure, including Angela Miller from our New York City auditions.
I just want to do it and get it over with.
Joining her in line is Victoria acosta, representing her hometown of San Antonio, and Mariah pulice, who shared her inspirational story in Chicago.
I am recovering right now, actually, from anorexia.
Anorexia engulfed everything in my life.
When I started to sing again, the feeling was like nothing I've ever felt before.
The last time we saw you in Chicago, it was an emotional audition for you.
- Yes.
- How do you think it's gonna - go today? - Not as emotional.
- Not as emotional.
- Not as emotional, I hope.
I'm so ready to get out there.
I can't wait anymore.
Like, I'm so antsy.
If they put me through, it's me proving something to myself.
set me free leave me be I don't want to fall another moment under your gravity one thing that I still know is you're keeping me down thank you.
You're keep - thank you.
- Thank you.
- Wow.
Okay.
- As Mariah waits, Angela takes her shot.
I think it's definitely a year for a girl to win, 'cause it's been five years, and I have confidence in myself and in my music that I believe that I am the next girl American idol.
Girl power! - Whoo! - The more I try the less it's working yeah, yeah 'cause everything inside me screams nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah seeing is deceiving dreaming is believing oh, it's okay not to be okay sometimes it's hard to follow your heart yeah, yeah, yeah.
[Cheers and applause.]
- Wow.
Unassuming.
- Unexpected.
- Unassuming.
- Yeah.
- And last is Victoria.
- I'm gonna be singing killing me softly, and I chose this song because, as a mariachi, I love to tell stories.
- Do it.
- I prayed that he would finish but he just kept right on strumming my pain with his fingers singing my life with his words killing me softly with his song killing me softly with his song telling my whole life.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Performing is my life, and I'm just hoping that I fulfill my dream.
It's a big opportunity.
I'm putting everything into this right now, so I hope it pays off.
It just means a lot to me, because it's helping me get better.
It really is.
Step forward when I call your name.
Angela [Suspenseful music.]
Victoria girls in the front row You're all moving forward.
[Cheers and applause.]
Congratulations, girls.
So it's good news for Angela and Victoria, who advance to group round, but the journey ends here today for a few others, including Mariah, who can't hold back the emotion.
There's a plan for everything, and this just wasn't it.
You did awesome, okay? It's okay.
You did awesome.
It's okay.
And you're coming back next year.
I'm making you.
That's what you'd do.
Okay? But Mariah was not alone [Uplifting pop music.]
As the judges made some necessary but brutal cuts Including, from Charlotte, funny girl Ashley Smith Newlywed nominee Ann defani Apparently, they didn't all love me, which is okay.
It's not gonna stop me.
And the super bass girl from New York, Sarah restuccio.
I think there's a time in everyone's life where it's actually your turn, and this just wasn't me.
[Crying.]
- Ready to go home? - Yeah.
- Me too.
- Me too.
- Coming up, more incredible Hollywood week performances from the ladies - Whoo! - And two of our brightest country stars go head-to-head.
This is not easy.
Uh Plus, one of our quirkiest contestants makes her return.
I don't fit in anywhere.
Which of your favorites will survive to move on To the hells of group night? No drama here, no drama here.
You gotta work this stuff out quick.
- [All harmonizing off-key.]
- All this I'm kind of tempted to just relearn the harmonies and do it - without her.
- Reow! - When we return.
- This was all [Bleep.]
.
[Dramatic music.]
[Upbeat techno music.]
Welcome back to Hollywood week.
The high bar set by the morning's outstanding talent has the females backstage on edge.
Being back here and watching this is it's nerve-racking.
It's really nerve-racking.
As dreams hang in the balance, it's go big or go home.
- [Exhales deeply.]
- And standing out from the crowd is a must.
So, when competing head-to-head, what would that mean for these two country girls? [Cheers and applause.]
Good luck.
How in the world are y'all doing? I feel like I haven't seen you in forever.
For y'all who don't know me, my name is Rachel hale, and I'm we first met Rachel in long beach, where she brought a joy and spirit that was contagious.
You're making me happy.
You're making me feel good to be a part of this moment.
She has to be the happiest contestant Yes! I think I've ever met.
If we're giving out the happiest award, it's her.
And janelle showed off her country roots in Charlotte.
- Where the black top ends.
- Oh, yeah, I loved it.
I'll only open this if you have a golden ticket.
Well, honey, you better open it up! [Cheers and applause.]
Now, in Hollywood, will there be room for them both? I have fallen too many times for the devil's sweet cunning lies - mm-hmm.
And this old world has brought me pain.
She's very accessible.
Take me down to the stream take me down to the water we're gonna wash our souls clean I tried my hand at the Bible tried my hand at prayer nothing but the water is gonna bring my soul to bare - whoo! Yes, now, nothing but the water - yeah.
[Laughs.]
[Applause.]
- Thank y'all.
Like, she has this Taylor swift sweetness that girls are gonna love.
And now it's janelle's turn.
- Hello.
- Hiya.
I'm the next American idol because - I'm a dreamer, y'all.
- Whoo! Hear that lonesome whip-poor-will he sounds too blue to fly - yeah.
The midnight train is winding low and I'm so lonesome I could cry - yeah.
Thank you.
Thank yo with everything on the line, their fate now rests in the hands of the judges.
I had yes for the next girl.
- This girl.
- Yes.
- Definitely.
- She's a no.
- She's a no.
- The next two, I had yeses.
So this was a tough judging moment, and there's some really, really talented people in here, so, um Here we go.
Janelle Arthur, will you please step up? [Suspenseful music.]
Ms.
Rachel hale Forward, please.
Ladies in the front You're gonna continue on with us.
Ladies in the back, feel good about yourselves.
You did eat getting this far, okay? Congratulations to everybody.
So there's room for both Rachel and janelle, as they cruise through to group round.
[All cheering.]
Wow.
Like, I'm just so blown away.
Oh, my gosh.
[All cheering.]
And these ladies sparked a string of success, as the afternoon talent set the Hollywood stage on fire.
You girls are going through to the next round.
[All cheering.]
You're all going through on the front line.
Congratulations.
Daddy, I made it to group week.
I mean, I made it to group whatever.
I don't know.
I just made it.
Still to come, the best girls we've ever seen stake their claim on the Hollywood stage.
Yeah, yeah! And later, one word Groups.
- Don't screw your lyrics up.
- We're a group.
We should be a team.
I just felt like pulling my hair out.
I'm actually worried about it just being a huge train wreck.
I just want us to be perfect.
[Upbeat techno music.]
It's 4:30 in Hollywood, and it's a tense scene backstage.
Listen up.
Candice glover, sarina-joi Crowe, Megan Miller.
It's now or never.
- Okay.
- Let's go, let's go.
- Let's get it.
- We are on.
Whoo! [Cheers and applause.]
First to take the mic is Candice glover - What's up? - A crowd and judge favorite.
Yo, best audition I heard so far this season.
- The entire time.
- Thank you.
- Oh, my God.
- I want to skin you and wear you.
I got a standing ovation in Charlotte, but at the same time, I feel like, at any minute, that can change.
hey, baby it's impossible for me to love you ooh this way if you're always trying to make it so hard oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Whoo! - How can I - Yes, yes! Yeah! Following that is going to be no easy task.
- Yes! But our next contestant is used to a struggle.
I'm Megan Miller.
I'm 22 years old.
I'm from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
I was actually on crutches.
Let me tell you now I had an accident two days before my audition.
you know I'm a schemer - [laughs.]
- Oh, I like this girl.
- Yeah, boy.
- Now I'm fully healthy, and I can wear my heels, so I'm ready to go.
Ricochet you take your aim fire away, fire away you shoot me down but I won't fall I am titanium - all right.
Thank you.
[Cheers and applause.]
Not easy decisions.
Nobody understands what I endure.
All their hopes and dreams come down to this moment.
I feel like this year is my year.
- It's tricky.
- I have a no.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
These are my dreams that are at stake.
- Two yeses, two nos.
- With this line, I guarantee you, none of the other lines are gonna be as good as this line, and then we're gonna have wished that we didn't send home good people out of this line.
All right.
- All right.
- Great job, girls.
So, when I call your name, if you could step forward Lauren Candice Shira.
[Suspenseful music.]
you're going through, in the front line.
[Cheers and applause.]
Girls in the back line, thank you so much.
So Megan falls at the first hurdle.
But Candice Whoo! Past the first one.
Advances to group round, and the yeses keep coming.
You're gonna be staying with us.
[All cheering.]
Ladies in the front, thank you for everything.
It is clear that idol has never seen this much talent from the ladies, and the next line has more talent than most, including 22-year-old Isabel from our New York auditions.
Hi.
How are you guys? Thank you for having me back.
So New York was amazing.
Ah I went in lacking a little bit - of confidence.
- O.
M.
G.
I can't believe I just did that.
You can't believe? No, believe.
Please believe.
The judges definitely reassured me that, uh, I should just sing and be confident in who I am and my voice.
Daddy's rich and your mama is good-lookin' so hush, little baby don't you cry - yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah! [Pop music.]
Front row, congratulations.
You're through to the next round.
[All cheering.]
It's 5:00 P.
M.
, and a long day of auditions is coming to an end, but backstage one of our quirkiest contestants is just getting warmed up.
[Acoustic guitar playing.]
Wandered on through that pouring rain we first met kezban in Chicago, where she showed off her preference for yellow tape over red tape.
- Thank you.
- We'll see you in Hollywood.
- All right.
- All right.
Bye.
Actually, I'll see you for the next three hours, filling out paperwork, right? Right on.
Well, it won't take that long.
I shouldn't have-uh, there do you want me to redo that entrance thing? - No, no, no, you're perfect.
- Okay, cool.
Kezban, how'd the paperwork go? Did you get the paperwork done? You got it all filled out? - Yes.
- Where do you think you fall into the competition that's out here in Hollywood? I don't necessarily think I fit in well anywhere.
After hanging out with many of the girls, I have discovered that most of them have very different musical tastes than.
I do.
Now, we got to focus on this performance today.
I would like it if I had 30 seconds in a place where nobody else would get offended to belt out some things, 'cause I've been feeling like I'm about to get a cold all day.
To warm up a little bit? - Yes.
- Really? - Mm-hmm.
- And is that because of the change of climate or? And I'm also rowdy.
I'm hooting and hollering for people I care about, you know.
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah, roommate! Yeah, I love you, roommate! Yes! Awesome! So, if I get 30 seconds, I'm fine.
Okay, we'll get you 30 seconds.
- We're ready.
- So you can have your 30 seconds.
Go take your 30 seconds.
- I need the line, guys.
- No, you guys are going out now.
They're taking me for a - practice session.
- Okay.
That's what they just said.
I was just told that I could have 30 seconds.
It's kind of important.
- Take it right now.
- Um - You guys are on your way out.
- I have no expectations.
If I go home, I still had fun.
If I don't go home, that's even scarier.
I'm working on getting a cold, so wait for the crack.
It's coming.
[Laughter.]
'cause I love you yes, I love you oh It was obvious that kezban's voice was shot, but would the judges take her sickness into consideration? - Love you.
- She'd have to wait and see.
- Thank you.
- All right.
Thank you.
[Cheers and applause.]
Also in this final group is 16-year-old Briana oakley, a standout from our long beach auditions.
It's impossible for me to give you what you need oh, yeah 'cause, boy I'm sick and tired of trying to read your mind oh, it's impossible oh, baby, it's impossible for me to - [laughs.]
- Thank you.
[Cheers and applause.]
Thank you, girls.
- Okay.
- That's the girl I've been waiting to hear.
That's her.
Did you get four yeses right now? - He doesn't.
- No.
I love those two.
- Yeah, me too.
- Those two, I love.
Keith, do your thing, man.
Okay.
Hi, girls.
Um We're looking for so many different things, and it sometimes makes for very difficult decisions.
So, with that, uh, this is not easy.
[Suspenseful music.]
You're all going on.
[Cheers and applause.]
Congratulations.
Good luck.
- Congratulations, girls.
- So the day ends on a high, as everyone in the final line makes it through.
- Yeah! - And they will be joining 73 others who have already advanced, including.
Melinda ademi Yeah, yeah! And Ashlee feliciano, both from the New York auditions.
- Come on! - I know! [All cheering.]
Well, day one is a wrap for the ladies, but there is no time to relax, because the dreaded group round begins tonight.
Oh, group night's fun.
I used to be in chorus.
Coming up, the girls face the most brutal round of Hollywood week group night.
- Oh, yeah! - And this year the rules have changed.
Sometimes we have to make sacrifices.
Yes, but if I'm the only one sacrificing, it isn't fair.
No, I have to make a sacrifice, 'cause I have to learn it.
I think that some claws are gonna come out tonight.
- Reow! - Do the choreography.
- That wasn't right.
- It's never good enough.
She just keeps doing it wrong.
We got stuck with the most difficult person to work with.
I don't have to sing a song that makes me want to vomit.
- Yay! - It's not gonna work.
There's no way that can't be a disaster.
- [Vomits.]
- I need the four of you to go work together.
I thought I was going to dinner eventually.
[Upbeat techno music.]
[Dramatic music.]
It's 8:30 P.
M.
in Hollywood.
Only 76 girls remain after the brutal first-round cuts.
- Oh, my God, you did so good.
- They can breathe a sigh of relief I'm so glad that I made it.
But it's short-lived, because now they must face the toughest battle of the competition All right, let's go! - Group round.
- Group night gonna see how well we work with others.
Last week at this stage, everything the guys thought they knew at group round was changed And word spread quickly to the girls.
There's, like, a bunch of rumors going around.
I heard, like, they were choosing your group.
So whatever if they choose my group, I don't once in the theater, the rumors were confirmed.
This year it's different.
You're not picking your own groups.
Come on! - We pick your group for you.
- Anticipation is killing me right about now.
Last week, the guys were forced to collaborate with contrasting personalities, and many of them rose to the occasion - You're all through! Yes! - Whoo! - Yes! - Congratulations.
[Cheers and applause.]
But this week there is one big difference.
You put all the girls together.
Come on.
I think that some claws are gonna come out tonight.
Reow! The first one, Lauren bettes, Isabel, Erin Christine, and zoanette Johnson.
- Yes! - Oh, shoot.
- Yeah, we're gonna kill it.
- Once the groups are formed, they must quickly work together - Hi.
Ashlee.
- I'm britnee.
I am pleased to be in a group with you guys.
- Thank you.
- Because in just one night, they have to agree on a song from a list of 20 - Eternal flame? - Do you know total eclipse of the heart? I don't know that one.
- That makes me nervous.
- Arrange harmonies - Time.
- Then choreograph a routine - One - So - two, three.
- One were you saying "three"? And add to this the expectation of a perfect performance onstage the next morning.
Come on, ladies, let's go double time! Some groups are already up and running.
- Oh, yeah! - But the group made up of janelle Arthur, breanna steer, Angela Miller, and kezban are still struggling to get out of the gate.
I'll tell you right now, the only song I want, and I will fight to the death for it, is California dreamin'.
California dreamin' and it would set us apart, because everybody else wants to do pop songs, and - just breathe, all right? - Okay, I'm sorry.
I'm literally just, like, shaking, like, hoping to God.
I get that song.
Possibility, okay? - Possibility, yeah.
- Sure.
Thank you so much for not vetoing it yet.
We're not vetoing it possibility.
Please, God, let them choose that song.
All right.
Somebody that I used to know, hit 'em up style I want it to have substance and be meaningful, rather than, like I got money and I'm in my car and I'm a neenee neenee [imitates vomiting.]
No, no.
This is a group effort, and we have sometimes we have to make sacrifices.
Yes, but if I'm the only one sacrificing, it's not fair.
No, I have to make a sacrifice, 'cause I have to learn it.
We're gonna have to vote.
- California dreamin' - We know that that's your vote.
[Laughs.]
With the clock ticking, these girls will have to come to a decision soon.
The group with Isabel, Erin, Lauren, and zoanette are desperate to find common ground.
All together, because they want to see what's gonna happen.
- Say my name, say my name.
- I knew you were gonna say that.
[Groans.]
I like say my name, but that's really R&B.
- I know.
It's like - How would you feel about - that? - If it were my choice, estelle, American boy.
Say you'll be there.
What's up with that? Spice girls.
- I don't know.
- No.
I don't know that song at all.
Meanwhile, Chicago judge favorite Brandy neelly has been teamed up with kree Harrison, Haley Davis, and Hollywood veteran britnee kellogg, who was cut last year during Vegas round.
Honestly, the thing here last year was, like, if you're country, you should sing - country.
- Oh, yeah.
- Let's do sin wagon.
- That's what I was thinking.
- It's the best song ever.
- I'm cool with that.
We got a song we love our group already.
We're friends already.
We love each other.
- [Laughs.]
- No drama here.
No drama here.
Smooth sailing so far, but once these girls started rehearsals, cracks quickly began to show.
Takin' a turn on the sin wagon.
Yeah, you have to- - I know, but how are we gonna know what the music sounds like? This year, I feel like I'm doing everything.
Okay.
Yeah, okay.
- So what do we do until then? - Uh, let's see.
So You know, I'm I'm picking the harmonies, and I'm doing the dance moves.
More of mine a couple of them are like, "I can't dance like that.
" We all turn to the side while you do that.
We don't turn away.
Hopefully, the girls can bring it all together before tomorrow morning.
[Group harmonizing.]
Over with the vocal coaches, groups are finding their rhythm.
- Yeah.
- You can go your own way now you're just somebody that I used to know - I would, baby.
- Okay, you sound great.
The group featuring zoanette, named the pooh snaps, is getting their turn with the vocal coach You better knock knock, knock on wood and right away, there are problems.
The usually spirited zoanette has lost her confidence.
The three of them wanted it, and you didn't? Right.
It's like, they're all country singers, and I'm not a country singer.
It's not gonna work, you know? We're not all together.
It's not gonna work at all.
It's well into the night, and groups are putting finishing touches on their performances.
Sin wagon yes.
Ah! [Applause.]
- Goin' to bed.
See y'all tomorrow.
But the group calling themselves the misfits is nowhere near the finish line.
Earlier in the theater, they were the last group to pick a - song.
- Be my baby it's a '50s song.
Can you sing me a few bars, please? - The night we met I knew I needed you so.
Because of the lyrics, I could get behind that.
Yeah, I need to hear it.
- Yay! - Kezban was finally happy.
I don't have to sing a song that makes me want to vomit.
- Yay! - But song choice turned out to be just the first hurdle.
Wait, wait.
Be my, be my be my because when I try to hit that high note - Okay.
- [Bleep.]
Hits the fan.
The other girls found working with the eccentric kezban challenging, to say the least.
Does everybody want to express their concerns, or do you think that would make it worse? Just-just tense, you know? - Yes.
- 'Cause it's like it's overwhelming, like what? [Both laugh.]
- No, it's good.
- I sometimes say very, very stupid things in the moment.
You sound good when you do this part, but you suck at that other part, man.
- Um, we're doing be my baby.
- I just think that this is a test.
Someone's testing me.
What's happening? We gotta go, really, seriously.
If there was, like, some orange juice or something that it would fix it.
Oh, let me call room service.
- [Hawks up phlegm.]
- Oh, my God.
Bring that up.
I don't want to see it.
Oh! [Laughs.]
[Hawks up phlegm.]
[Spits.]
There's always the fear that just one weak person can bring the whole group down.
Baby - oh, my God.
- Is that good or bad? - We have to move on.
- Aren't you gonna go work together on this? I thought I was going to - dinner eventually.
- Dinner? I need the four of you to go work together.
You need to work this out.
Yes, absolutely, absolutely.
I look forward to it.
[Mouths words.]
Kezban abandons rehearsals to find some food, so the others make plans to practice without her.
We are keeping it on the down-low that we're gonna be rehearsing before breakfast.
We're the ones singing the harmony, so we're gonna get those worked out and let kezban do her thing.
We're going to bed.
[Both chuckle.]
See you in the morning.
- See you! - Coming up After rehearsing all night I'm freaking out right now.
This verse is kicking my butt.
Will the groups find success in the palm of their hands? - Hey, ladies.
- All four of you are gonna be going on.
Or will their dreams slip through their fingers? Why did you choose this song when it clearly wasn't in any of your repertoires? - Or memory.
- It was in their hands.
[Upbeat techno music.]
[Knock at door.]
Good morning! [Soul music.]
- Good morning, people.
Good morning, America.
- [Laughs.]
- Oh, my gosh.
I just went to sleep, like, 45 minutes ago.
I'm running on, like, an hour and a half of sleep, but it's all right.
This is such a horrible day, you know? My hair looks horrible right now.
Um, yeah, as you can see, uh, I'm not a morning person.
Um, thank you for visiting.
I would like it if you would turn the camera off for just a second, please, and then you can turn it back on in a minute.
Thank you for visiting me This morning.
Today is the day.
19 groups of girls will take the stage.
They're exhausted.
The stress has taken them to the breaking point.
You have, like, this dream that you want to be fulfilled, and you don't want to leave because you couldn't learn a song in four hours, you know? We want to pass this round.
We're not gonna let anything get in the way.
It's tough when they're in the group scenario, but the show must go on, darling.
The show must go on.
When the girls take the stage, they will be accompanied by the idol band, and though they will perform as a group, they will be judged and eliminated individually.
And since Randy is tied up in the studio, the contestants will start the day facing only Keith, Mariah, and Nicki.
- Here we go.
- All night long, some of these groups fell apart.
So the question is, can they keep it together onstage? It is showtime for the girls.
[Cheers and applause.]
Uhoh.
Oh, my goodness.
Here we go.
This'll be me.
Ready to set the tone are the swagettes, with Melinda ademi, kamaria ousley, Denise Jackson, and Charlotte contestant last night they avoided the drama and were one of the first groups to get to bed See y'all tomorrow! - Bye! - Good night.
But did they prepare enough to make it to the solo round? [Hip-hop music.]
Hey, ladies when your man wanna get buck wild - yeah! Just go back and hit 'em up style get your hands on his cash and if he mess up you gotta hit him up - oh - oh - oh - oh - While he was schemin' I was chillin' in my bimmer just steamin' I can't believe that I caught my man cheatin' and when the cash box rang I thought everything ay about all those things you used to say all of the love we had is away all the things you tell me standing all the way but that was then now hey, yeah so I went to neiman Marcus on a shopping spree and on the way I grabbed soley and Mia and as the cash box rang I thought everything away.
Ooh there goes the dreams we used to say there goes the times we spent away there goes the love I had but you cheated on me and that's for that now all: hey, ladies [Cheers and applause.]
[Chuckles.]
Wow.
Wow, girls.
That was a great, great song choice.
I loved how you came out and nailed all the harmonies.
I loved that you had harmonies.
And, uh, you had a look going on, and, um, you just put it together, you know? You came out and did did the thing.
But that's just me.
We'll get together, and we'll see what happens.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- Yeah! - Now the judges must deliberate on who stays and who goes home.
To me, she's great.
She's a great singer.
But her goal, what her battle is [Suspenseful music.]
Okay Swagettes.
[Chuckles.]
So, um, instead of having you all move your bags so you can step forward, all four of you are gonna be going on to the next round.
[Cheers and applause.]
Congratulations, swagettes.
- Congrats.
- Thank you so much.
[All cheering.]
So the swagettes have gotten us off to a great start.
And it was a good song - choice.
- Right.
- Such a good song choice.
- I can't believe it.
I'm so proud of each and every one of you.
Like, I'm so happy.
It was great.
Swag on.
[Laughs.]
Thanks, swagettes.
We'll have more coming up from Hollywood after the break.
[All cheering.]
[Upbeat techno music.]
Welcome back Hollywood week, where, for the ladies, it's been a rough 24 hours.
Group night gonna see how well we work with others.
[Imitates vomiting.]
No, no, no.
And although many groups are doing last minute rehearsals - Come on, girls.
- Most are just eager to get - their shot.
- Raisin' Cain? - That's us.
- Raisin' as in, like, "raising.
" - Raisin', like, "n" apostrophe.
Okay, and, uh, everybody - knows the lyrics? - Hope so.
Now, yes.
As good as we are gonna know them.
- Yep.
A lot of cowgirl boots up there.
[Laughs.]
Wow.
All: praise the lord and pass the ammunition need a little bit more of my 12-ounce nutrition one more helpin' of what I've been havin' I'm takin' my turn on - all: the sin wagon - oh, lordy.
He pushed me round now I'm drawin' the line he lived his life now I'm gonna live mine I'm tired of wastin' my time.
Well, now, I've been good for far too long found my red dress now I'm going out now we're too far gone come on, girls All: praise the lord and pass the ammunition need a little bit more of my 12-ounce nutrition more time of what I've been missin' I'm arrivin' on a.
All: sin wagon I'll fly away.
On a all: sin wagon [Keith laughs.]
[Cheers and applause.]
Thank you so much.
[Cheers and applause.]
[Southern accent.]
Well I do have to say, ladies, you [Southern accent.]
I do - declare.
- I do declare.
My, my, my Southern belles, I think that that was a mighty fine job.
Thank you.
Thank you.
[Cheers and applause.]
[Normal voice.]
So we'll discuss it, and we'll be right - back.
- Wow.
- The same? - Perfect.
She has a yes.
Correct.
- Okay.
- Okay, my little ladybugs, we are willing to make you cupcakes - What? - Give you ice cream, paint your lil' toenails, and have you come back again.
Y'all goin' through.
[Cheers and applause.]
[Country music.]
- Thank you.
- Thank you so much.
Thank you.
[All cheering.]
Raisin' Cain, all of us made it.
Oh, yeah, we're raisin' it.
This was definitely what I was most, like, worried about, was the group night.
I was the most afraid of that, and so the fact that we We all made it.
Yeah, not only did, like, one like, we all made it.
I think that's pretty awesome.
So raisin' Cain can exhale a big sigh of relief.
But our next group called "almost famous" are still holding their collective breaths we got to know each other.
Um, we started working with each other, of course.
And you're singing what? You guys, what are y'all looking for? Yeah, our song really has no harmonies, the original song.
Now, here's what you gotta do.
The dynamic between the you know, the four of you guys, you gotta work this stuff out quick, all right? Somebody's, you know bang, bang, bang, decided, done.
And the responsibility of creating those harmonies fell upon Savannah votion, who appointed herself as group.
I'm the one that knows the harmonies.
Some of the girls don't know harmonies.
I'm trying my best, but it's kind of hard.
I have faith in my, uh, sisters, because we we've kind of bonded with each other, and we have each others' back, no matter what.
Let me hear your part.
We are a team.
This is a team.
We're we're working as a group.
We'll nail it.
Thank you.
It wasn't like that.
It wasn't like that at first, in group.
[Somebody that I used to know.]
now and then I think that when we were together you felt so lucky that you felt that you could die - that's the remix.
- But I don't want to live that way readin' into every word you say you said that you could let it go but I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know we found out that we didn't match you said that we were doing fine and I'm good but I ain't worried about that 'cause I ain't worried 'cause I got it like that all: you didn't have to stoop so low got your friends to get your records and then you changed your number I don't even need your love 'cause now you're just somebody that I used to know - somebody - all: hey.
- Somebody - whee! All: know now you're just somebody that I used to know [Cheers and applause.]
- Good luck, Mariah.
- Thank you.
- You got to like that.
- Okay.
How did you guys feel the blend was between all of you? We worked so hard on the harmony and making it so perfect.
Before we got onstage, we were just like, "have fun, have fun," hoping that it would take some intensity off.
Thank you, girls.
Thank you for the performance.
[Suspenseful music.]
Okay.
Dasia, can you step forward, please? ladies in the back, this is the end of the journey for you.
Thank you for everything and good luck with the rest of your careers and lives.
And, dasia, you're gonna be going through with us By the skin of your teeth.
So, please, just do the best you can, and congratulations.
So dasia is the only one from her group to advance, but she knows her idol sisters will always have her back.
I don't believe that it was fair, 'cause I was the one who who put the harmonies together.
Thank you so much for having me on your show, but I'm ready to go.
[Pop music.]
- Yikes.
Going up.
Look at her.
She's crying too.
I mean, this is this is wrong.
I'm so happy for her, but she forgot all of her words, and I jumped in there and, like, sang with her and made sure that she didn't fall on her face.
Everybody's entitled to their own opinion, like I've been saying from day one and like I'm going to always say.
I'm a very positive individual.
Why is somebody that forgets their words and I'm having her back and helping her sing her part And I don't believe that that was right.
I did all the harmonies.
I'm the one that stayed up all night.
this right here was all [Bleep.]
.
Everything that happened on that stage was out of a group effort.
Thank y'all for having us, once again, but this'll be the last time I ever come on the - show.
- I'm going home.
Am I done? [Upbeat techno music.]
Welcome back to girls' group day.
Rehearsals are going strong everywhere, and many of the ladies seem to be in perfect harmony.
Knock, knock knock on wood - breathe.
- But the group featuring Chris, janelle, onye, and cristabel are calling themselves "the dramatics.
" And with an odd girl out, they seem to be living up to their name.
Cristabel, tell me how it went last night with the group.
Oh, man.
It was a little bit rough.
Well, it started off really great.
The sharp knife of a short life well, I've had just enough time - whoo! Whoo! Yes, we're going to sleep early tonight.
[Laughter.]
We've got this.
The girls were vibing then, but as we all know, the dynamics on group night can turn on a dime.
Janelle is overzealous to the point that she is compromising her vocal health.
We should be good, where they can't send any of us home, and I feel like we're not at that point.
Like, I'm here, and they left.
I'm just like, "what?" [Sighs.]
It's just, like, you hear the other groups.
And after only a few hours of sleep, things got even more dramatic for the ladies.
Why is janelle not here, ladies? Do you know? It's been an all-day struggle for the girls to connect with janelle.
Oh.
No, I-I was just I mean, I I'm not even worried about that.
I just wanted to make sure that we were, like, good.
We were I'm talking to you about something else.
What I - mom! Excuse me.
Sorry, sorry.
Hi.
Uhhuh.
When we tried to, like, tell you, like, "hey, let's rehearse" "together," you were just kind of like standoffish, like if we did something to you, and, I mean, we're just trying to rehearse.
No, you guys didn't do anything.
I'm sorry you feel that way.
I'm sorry.
Excuse me.
Group night means that we're doing a group thing.
You know, it's not just, we're doing our own solo project or whatever.
It just kind of blows, you know, that things are turning out this way.
Janelle, what was the best part about the working with this group for you? Um, you know, I am a solo artist, so working with these girls have taught me so much, and they have actually helped me, um, for in the future, you know, working with others.
- [Sniffs.]
- [Laughs.]
I'm sorry.
I didn't mean to laugh.
This is awesome.
Thank you.
[Laughs.]
This is dope.
And with only one last time to rehearse as a team, we'll see if this dysfunctional group can leave the dramatics offstage.
All: the sharp knife of a short life well, I've had just enough time if I die young bury me in satin lay me down in a bed of roses please give me a roller-coaster high oh, yeah - ooh, ooh.
Oh, oh yeah, oh oh, yeah.
Make me a rainbow I'll shine down on my mother she'll know I'm safe with you when I see into my colors oh, and life ain't always what you think it ought to be not even gray and she buried her baby it's a sharp knife of a short life well - all: I've had just enough time [applause.]
- Nicki.
[Applause.]
Nicki, did you love that song? [Laughs.]
You know what? I enjoyed you guys messing up the words more than I have enjoyed any other performance today.
- [Laughs.]
- You guys felt it.
You didn't know anything in the song sometimes, but I loved it.
- I'm sorry.
I - Wow.
I had an almost complete opposite reaction to that song.
Anyway, um, janelle, can I ask you, did you do, uh, a lot of rehearsal for this song? Yes.
- Together? - Yes.
[Laughter.]
Janelle, what's going on, mama? What was bothering you that you didn't want to rehearse with the girls? [Crying.]
Sometimes I just feel like I don't fit in.
- Hmm.
- And that's what I love about you.
Janelle, look at me, please? That's what I was just telling them.
I think the fact that you don't fit in and the fact that you don't feel like you belong, it makes you so endearing, and that's what I loved about you today.
You didn't sing one word, and you kept me engaged because of that.
I love your voice, and that's what the competition is about.
Thank you.
So here's how it played out.
Nicki loved every single one of - you - Obsessed.
- Across the board.
- Obsessed.
I had some yeses.
I had some nos.
Um, Mariah was on the fence a lot.
You like being on the fence, Mariah.
What do you mean? But I was also in love with certain people.
You were, yes, but there was some gray.
And I said they would be in my top three.
There's some gray going on.
- There's always gray areas.
- So, between the yeses, the nos, and the grays, it worked out to, uh, a result that would see all four of you [Suspenseful music.]
going on to the next round.
Congratulations, you guys.
[Shouting and applause.]
Janelle, no more beating up on yourself, janelle, okay? All of you.
[Crying.]
Thank you.
- Oh, mom.
- We love you.
We love you.
I just felt like I didn't fit in.
I mean, that's really all it is, you know? I just wanted to make sure my part was right.
You could see it wasn't.
We have the dramatics here, and we are sharing in our surprising success.
Very surprising.
Even though the dramatics pulled it off in the end, many groups never get it together at all.
- Hey, hey, hey - he's alone.
- Oh oh, yeah, yeah unfortunately, we can't take any of you through to the next round.
But some contestants still find room to shine.
All: well if I can't have you.
I don't want nobody, baby - all: if I can't have you.
- Hey, yeah everything's right in front of you whoa, oh.
And I won't let you close enough to hurt me no, I won't - shubha, can you step forward? - Aubrey, will you step - forward, please? - Sarina.
This is about you individually.
You are the only one we are sending through to the next - round.
- Congratulations.
[Cheers and applause.]
Now prepping for their performance is urban hue, featuring Kiara lanier, jett hermano, tenna Torres, and seretha guinn, who first inspired the judges with her story in Charlotte.
I have a really beautiful family.
It's myself, my boyfriend, and our beautiful three-year-old daughter, London.
My boyfriend was in a very serious accident, which almost cost him his life.
It's definitely been a tough year for me.
I don't see it getting any worse.
I see it only getting better from now on.
I - incredible.
- Thank you.
I'm so proud of you.
You're a superstar.
Oh, my God.
[Camera shutter clicks.]
And now seretha's hoping her group performance is inspiring enough to get her to the next round.
Hey, sister it's really, really nice " to meet ya I just met a guy that's 5'9" he's just my type and, oh, I like his features I like the way he speaks and don't like his baggy jeans but I might like what's underneath them walking that walk talkin' that talk you'll be my American boy American boy - all: take me on a trip.
- I'd like to go someday take me to New York I'd like to see L.
A.
I really want to come kick it with you you'll be my American boy American boy [cheers and applause.]
Is it finished? [Laughs.]
Nicki.
That was so painful.
What was that? You guys Let me go.
Let me start.
Seretha Still had a good voice, but it was I didn't I didn't feel star power from you today at all.
I remember when I first saw you how I was so in love with you.
And then, tenna Of course, tenna you know, she puts everyone to shame.
She's the one that everyone's gonna remember today, you guys.
I didn't think it was a good song for you guys at all absolutely not, 'cause I forgot what I loved about all of you before.
So I wasn't happy.
But maybe Mariah and Keith loved everything, you guys, so [Clicks tongue.]
Don't get down on yourselves now.
- Let's talk.
- All right.
So let's just start.
I had a yes for her.
I know, but I know she can sing, but today was not - Right.
- Her day.
- Yeah.
- Okay.
[Suspenseful music.]
Hello.
Um, the decision today was not unanimous at all At all.
It's really crazy.
Seretha, can you step forward? you are the only one we are choosing to send home today, seretha.
We love you.
We are still inspired by you, and I wish you the best for you and your daughter.
Good luck.
To the three in the back, you guys have another chance.
You have to step it up.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- And so it is a bittersweet ending for urban hue, as we say good-bye to seretha.
I'm still a mother, so my main focus will be on my daughter.
I'll just continue to do music and continue to live a happy life.
Mommy did good, right? Yeah.
[Chuckles.]
Thank you, sweetie.
Thank you.
[Upbeat techno music.]
Welcome back to the group round on American idol.
As the judges settle in from their break, the girls are excited to see the dog is back and in the house.
- Randy's back.
- And with sheriff Randy back at his post, the panel is going to get a lot tougher.
The pooh snaps will be the first group to face all four judges, and with zoanette Johnson in the house [Pop music.]
Standing out is not going to be a problem.
But she wasn't this happy the last time we saw the pooh snaps.
Honey, what's the matter? The only object of tomorrow is to get through and to get to the - next round.
- Yeah.
So, whether you're happy or not, you just gotta you gotta make it work for now, okay? Are you happier now? I'm happy.
With a capital "h" or a small "h"? No, I'm happy.
It's not like I'm sad or nothing.
It's just I'm just really, really over-passionate, that's all.
It wasn't long before zoanette turned herself around.
Oh, my God, you just smiled.
I'm so happy.
- Yeah! - And after rehearsing all - night - Thanks.
- See you tomorrow.
- Bye.
The pooh snaps were ready to go by morning.
[Snoring.]
The next group please welcome the pooh snaps.
You better knock knock, knock on wood - [laughs.]
- All: you better knock knock, knock on wood.
One, two, three, four! [Music starts.]
- Welcome back, Randy.
- Oh, yeah I don't wanna lose this feeling that I got 'cause when I'm with you oh, baby hey, yeah - come on! - 'Cause your love is sweeter than sugar, honey pie ah I've got thunder and lightning this all just got my love so frightening oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh we can hit who's that there? Out the way.
I'm not superstitious about you no, I can't take a chance - oh, it's like thunder.
- Whoo! Lightning the way you love me is frightening I think we better knock knock, knock on wood.
All: knock, knock knock on wood.
Oh we are the Pooh All: Snaps! [Randy laughing.]
[Cheers and applause.]
- Yay! - Ah.
- Yes, you are.
Hey, pooh snaps.
How you doing? [Keith laughing.]
I just love hearing you say - that.
- Um I think, overall, you girls, um, it was cool.
Thank you.
We're gonna talk and be back.
[Suspenseful music.]
I like that.
I like that attitude.
[Chuckles.]
- Lauren Step forward, please.
Lauren, at this time, you are the only one that we have to part ways with.
We thank you, and the three in the back, congratulations.
You're moving forward.
Thank you, guys.
- Yeah, yeah! - So three of the pooh snaps move on to the next round, upset at having to leave one behind.
Meanwhile, the next group, handsome women, just may wanna leave one behind before they trouble started yesterday as the New York contestants.
Courtney calle, shira gavrielov, Liz bills, and long beach contestant alesha Dixon struggled with their song throughout the night.
There's no way.
It's completely different.
- That's the thing.
- That's right.
That part [Bleep.]
me every time.
There's no way I'm gonna do it.
Feeling hopeless, Liz hits the breaking point.
This is, like, my dream.
Why can't we just practice? - Yeah, that's the whole thing.
- I just feel like we didn't get anything done, and I just feel like we're just gonna make a fool of ourselves.
Now, with moments to go before they hit the stage, Liz still feels discouraged and can't find her group.
I've already been on every floor.
So I'm tired of walking around.
- Where is she? - Oh, that's right she's never here.
I never know where she is.
We're having breakfast as, like, a group, and she - leaves.
- Okay, we're gonna rehearse in this amount time, and then she just, like, disappears.
I think she already feels like a celebrity she's already won.
- And she's a music teacher.
- And I looked upstairs and downstairs.
Basically, we need to be united as a group.
There's no way I'm going - home right now - No way.
Because of her Because of somebody else.
I don't care if I have to step on her and walk to the front myself.
I'm gonna just do it, you know? I think Liz thinks that she's too cool for us.
- Welcome.
- Hey, guys.
Long time, no see.
Good job.
Thank you.
[Pop music.]
- now and then I think of when we used together like when you said you felt so happy you could die.
But you didn't need to cut me off make out like it never happened and that we were nothing and I don't even need your love but you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough.
You didn't wanna let it go and now I watch you with somebody that I used to know when we thought that we could not make sense well, you said that we would still be friends but I'll admit that I was glad it was over but you didn't have to stoop so low have you friends collect your records and then change your number but I guess that I don't need that, though.
And now you're just somebody that I used to know and I don't wanna live that way reading into every word you say you said that you could let it go but I wouldn't wanna catch up with somebody that I used to know whoa, whoa, oh.
All: now you're just somebody that I used to know [Cheers and applause.]
- Wow.
- All right.
Okay, ladies Liz bills, can you step forward, please? Liz [Suspenseful music.]
You're gonna be going on The rest of the journey with us.
And, everybody else, thank you so much for everything you've - given us.
- Thanks, girls.
- Thank you.
- So Liz ends up being the only one getting through to the next round.
After all the searching for my group this morning, I guess it paid off.
But the decision doesn't sit well with shira.
I wanted to ask for an explanation.
I feel like I'd done a good job, and I would love you guys to give me another chance.
Here's the deal, though.
Just based on your performance, and this is what this is about you singing - yeah.
- It just really wasn't great today.
Maybe today just wasn't the way you shine the best, and you already know because you've had I-I remember you from the first day I met you, and I and.
I admired what you do.
But this may not be the moment for you, do you know what I'm saying? This may not be like, the American idol stage may not be it for you right now.
But you know.
You've been in the real world.
It's just that I feel that I should have You may think that you were incredible, but the four of us collectively did not feel that.
Okay.
Thank you.
- Bye, shira.
- Bye, baby.
They got it wrong.
It doesn't doesn't matter? They don't care.
That's fine.
I'm glad I did it.
And Thanks for everything.
But fine have a great season.
[Laughs.]

It's 7:45 P.
M.
at Hollywood week.
So far, it's been a brutal day of eliminations.
Right now the group "for you" is about to find out if a last-minute decision could jeopardize their dream.
So I hear this is a very interesting group.
How did you guys arrive at your song? We had originally chosen total eclipse of the heart.
So when did you decide to change your song? I think total eclipse of the heart would be an awesome song to do.
I don't know that one either.
The harmonies are super easy.
I think either way, we're gonna have to learn a song that we don't know.
That's why I was leaning towards gotye, 'cause It's easy to learn.
If we can do incredible, then we'll all go through Without question.
- Ugh! - If we all mess up, we'll all go home.
One of our members is kind of taking the lead, and she has been in the competition before, and she said that she knows what it takes to get through this all: around we're all kind of getting irritated with each other that we can't remember who's singing what part.
I just feel like we made a poor selection, and now we're stuck, and I'm kind of freaking out.
Oh, my God! Ah, it's stressful.
The next morning, the answer dawned on them.
I would rather change our song right now and learn something completely new than go onstage and sing the song that we already have.
What's going on? What's going on with you guys? We're changing our song.
Okay.
To? Do you think that's a good idea? Both: No.
Mm-hmm.
So what was the problem with the old song? It was too hard to learn in such a short period of time.
And now what's on your hand now the gotye song? - Gotye, yes.
- Yeah, we got more done with this song, it seems like, in two hours than we did with the other song.
And you did all night with - the other one? - Yeah.
And for you hopes the last-minute change pays off.
Um, just like a little reminder.
- When we were together.
- All: ba-dum, ba-dum ba-dum.
Like you said you were so happy, you could die.
All: dadum, da-dum all: ba-bum, ba-bum ba-bum, ba-bum but you didn't have to cut me off make out like it never happened and that we were nothing and I don't really need your love you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough.
Now you're just somebody that I used to know somebody - all: I used to know.
- Somebody all: I used to know and now you're just somebody that I used to know [Cheers and applause.]
Okay.
Stephanie, you were the one that really wanted to do this song all along, right? - Yeah.
- But it seems that holly is the only one that really knew the words? I know.
I know I'm sorry.
Honestly, I just sang all the right words back there.
It's these nerves.
Obviously, it was terrible, and I see why it was terrible.
- It wasn't terrible, Randy.
- What is there to judge? They're not even singing the words! I don't know.
You know, like, okay.
If you mess up, just do something ad-lib, you know But at least ad-lib in key.
Okay, when I call your name, step forward.
Stephanie, step forward.
Holly, step forward.
Um Not unanimous at all.
You guys are through to the next round.
Back row, it's the end of the line.
As a relieved Stephanie and holly - Good luck.
- Make it to solo day An upset Alex and kaley have to head home.
We thought that this would be better, and [Laughs.]
It wasn't.
There was a lot of misunderstanding with the group, and It happens.
Why did they let me through? I totally botched that thing.
Unfortunately, it looked like an epidemic was spreading among the girls.
Year after year, we've seen many a contestant forget their lyrics mid-performance.
But it seems this year the girls are giving the phrase "talk to the hand" a whole new meaning.
- Lyrics.
Shh.
- I'm not superstitious about you I can't take no more I didn't really have enough time to memorize them, so I was like "oh, my gosh, just write them all on my hand.
" I hope I hope it works out.
[Laughs.]
'Cause your love is better than no why did you choose this song when it clearly wasn't in any of your repertoires? Or memory.
- [Laughs.]
- It was in their hands, so [Laughter.]
- Our next group, the Dolly chicks, didn't want their big shot to slip through their fingers.
I know-on my arm.
Wait.
My gosh.
You've used more real estate than anybody at the entire audition today.
- [Laughs.]
- How did it go last night into this morning? Not as smoothly as possible, right? No, it was pretty rough.
And Brandy neelly wasn't the only one who felt that way.
Group mates Haley Davis, kree Harrison, and a frustrated britnee kellogg struggled throughout the night.
This year I feel like I'm doing everything.
You know, I'm picking the harmonies, and I'm doing the dance moves.
And I feel like it's all on me, so it's frustrating.
But at 2:30 A.
M.
, with rehearsals in full swing, the group panics, as they are missing a group member.
Well, one of our group members just went to bed, [crying.]
And she can't think because she's so tired.
I'm not supposed to be crying right now.
[Normal voice.]
This is why they put the girls together.
- This is why.
- It's fine.
- It's not fine.
- We'll get it.
- What do we do? - And if she doesn't get it, we'll sing it it's fine.
Then there were three Or four.
Honestly, I'm kind of tempted to just relearn the harmonies and do it without her.
After pulling an all-nighter, it was time to get ready for the most challenging audition yet.
We're taking showers.
Not good night good morning and good-bye! [Laughs.]
And at breakfast, as the group awaited their fourth member Their patience had been spent, and the pressure had escalated.
Last night, um, the other girls wanted to stay up and continue practicing and stay up all night.
Where have you been? We've been looking for you all morning.
My throat-I don't know it was shot.
So I had to go to bed, and.
I got, like, maybe an hour of sleep, and they didn't get anything.
I think that kind of threw us off a little bit.
It's hard to be a group when they don't rehearse.
Well, I've been- - I'm still wasting my time.
- Oh, my God.
- I'm sick of wasting my time.
- I need to go learn my words.
With time running out, the increased tension has caused separation within the group.
I'm just stressing out.
At this point, it's Each man for their own, I guess, because we have to just do our best.
- Yeah.
- Time now for the Dolly chicks to hit the stage and see what they can do.
Good luck, girls.
Thank you.
- This is gonna be interesting.
- All: I'll fly away on a sin wagon he pushed me round now I'm drawing the line he lived his life now I'm gonna go live mine I'm sick of wasting my time.
All: praise the lord and pass the ammunition give a little bit more of my 12-ounce nutrition.
I'm taking my turn on a - all: sin wagon.
- He pushed me round now I'm hanging around I don't know what to sing but I'm not giving up no, I'm not giving up he pushed me round and I'm dragging the line he lived my life and I'm gone on mine he lived the life and I'm going now oh, yeah oh I'm taking my turn on a.
All: sin wagon - [laughs.]
- Wow.
- Whoo! Yeah, that was bad.
- Yee-hoo! - How are you, girls? - Good.
- Wonderful.
- Britnee? - Yes, ma'am.
- Oh.
- Who didn't wanna rehearse? - Ah, yeah, come on.
Kree and I And Brandy did not sleep.
Haley wasn't feeling well, so she went to bed about 2:30.
You went to bed at 2:30 in the morning? Well, no, it was 4:00 when we went to bed.
- Why did you go to bed early? - I had a stomach virus.
So you three stayed up till what time? - We didn't go to bed.
- We didn't go to bed.
- Interesting.
- Yeah.
Haley, a lot of the girls today have been looking at their hand, and it's it's kind of disrespectful in a way, I feel, to us, 'cause we're sitting here wanting you to engage.
You were either looking at your hand or looking at them, and it was a bit ridiculous.
And if you had a stomach virus, that doesn't mean you have to go to sleep.
You could've stayed in there with the girls.
You could've just kept on playing the music over and over to memorize the lyrics.
You don't just go to sleep and leave everyone else up to work and then stare at them the whole time onstage.
But we'll vote.
She's she's a real artist.
Kree - No for me.
- I think she's got a money - voice.
- Hello, girls.
We're back.
What's interesting is that none of this was unanimous for any of you.
Haley, can you step forward? Kree Britnee You three are Through to the next round.
Thank you, Brandy.
Britnee kellogg, kree Harrison, and the lucky.
Haley Davis can rest a little easier tonight.
- Thank you, girls.
- Thank you so much, you guys.
- Thank you, Brandy.
- Thank you for the opportunity and everything, okay? - Okay.
- But we say good-bye to.
Chicago favorite Brandy neelly.
I love your voice, Brandy.
Hey, this is not the last time you're gonna see.
Brandy neelly.
Come on.
Come on.
That's the attitude.
Bye.
Thank you.
- Bye.
- Hello.
Hi.
From this season, I have learned [All cheering.]
When it's your time Then it will come together.
It was real exciting, and I'm blessed to be able to have the opportunity to do that.
[Upbeat techno music.]
It's 8:00 P.
M.
, and as the auditions draw to a close, the final group to perform is waiting backstage.
Last night the misfits struggled from the outset.
I'll tell you right now, the only song I want, and I will fight to the death for it, is California dreamin'.
It's beautiful.
It's classic.
Anything new and poppy and floofy, I would [Imitates vomiting.]
Unfortunately, the pressure increased, as kezban was more interested in sleeping and eating than in rehearsing.
Aren't you gonna go work together on this? I thought I was going to as kezban leaves to get some food, the other three girls are left searching for their fourth member.
Unable to find kezban We're going to bed.
[Laughs.]
The girls decide to get some sleep and rehearse in the morning Where, again, kezban cannot be found.
- Well, it's 6:15.
Breakfast started at 6:00, and she's still not here yet.
Um, yeah, as you can see, I'm not a morning person.
With their dreams at stake, the girls rehearse and head to the venue with or without kezban.
It's a competition.
We need to do what we need to do, you know? We wanna pass this round.
We're not gonna let anything get in the way of that.
Your group already left to go on bus one.
- You're late.
- Where's bus one? Now, with their performance fast approaching, the tension in the group is growing.
I like to do jumping Jacks before a performance, 'cause it gives you adrenaline.
You get pumped.
I just gotta keep moving until it's my turn, you know? Get in order.
Kezban, Angela, janelle, and breanna.
[Cheers and applause.]
Oh, we love her.
['50s pop music.]
- the night we met I knew I needed you so and if I had the chance I'd never let you go and if you say you love me I would make you so proud of me we'll make 'em turn their heads wherever place we go so why don't you please - all: be my, be my baby.
- Oh, now be my little baby - all: my one and only baby.
- Say you'll be my darling - all: be my, be my baby.
- Be my baby now - I'll make you happy, baby.
- Yeah! Just wait and see for every kiss you give me I will give you three since the day I saw you I have been waiting for you you know I will adore you till eternity so won't you please - all: be my, be my baby.
- Be my little baby? - All: my one and only baby.
- Be my baby - all: be my, be my baby.
- Be my baby now - oh, oh, oh, oh.
- [Laughs.]
[Cheers and applause.]
[Randy laughing.]
[Laughs.]
You got a standing ovation from Nicki! Where my girls at? Can I get a hug? Oh, my God.
- That never happens.
- Oh, my God.
- Nicki, you wanna comment? - The voices perfection.
I loved your voices.
Thank you.
And, janelle, you've been my favorite time after time after time.
You're just a star to me.
- [Mouths words.]
- You, all four, are really special.
And kezban, of course, you know, you're a crazy psycho, and I love that.
[Laughter.]
You can identify with that, - perhaps.
- Absolutely.
- Let's judge quickly.
- Yeah.
- One, two, three - Yes! - You're all going through.
- To the next round.
- Yeah.

Thank you, misfits.
You were the perfect fit.
- What just happened? - What just happ right.
- Good way to end the day.

- I was not expecting that.
- No.
That is it.
