America's Got Talent s07e12 Episode Script

Hopefuls perform for the judges in Las Vegas (2)

Good morning.
All right, so it's the top of the day, and the judges' favorites will be performing.
And this is the table where all the key decisions will be made.
You don't get second chances here.
This is it.
We must impress those judges.
I know you can do it.
A lot of people have been buckling under the nerves here in Vegas.
That's right, and guess what.
We only have how many slots? How many slots do we have? - 45 left.
- We have 45 slots.
It's like a pressure situation.
So, just gotta go out and do it.
If you are in the magic category, please exit this way for me to the holding area.
All right, here we go.
Ready, set, go.
- And your name again? - Justin.
- Right on.
- I'm Taylor, and your name? Eric.
Vegas is a dream come true.
Especially for someone like me.
It's really the magic and mentalism capital of the world.
How important is this to you? This is huge.
This is everything.
This is all my dreams come true.
I couldn't have asked for a better first audition.
I'm gonna have you draw something.
This is for you skeptics.
- Whoa! - Unh! I'm getting glasses, I'm getting curly hair.
Uh, this is a self-portrait, Howard? You are correct, Dittelman.
How does he do that? There's other magicians here that I've gotta kind of watch out for.
- Eric? - Yeah.
Break a leg, Eric.
But I'm really trying to focus on what sets me apart, and that's the mind reading.
It's in people's heads, it's really intimate.
It's something totally different that the judges haven't seen before.
Here we go.
This is the moment that can change your life forever.
- It is.
- You ready to do it? - Yes.
- Do it.
Well, I'm actually gonna try and read Sharon Osbourne's mind.
You down for this? - Absolutely.
- Excellent.
We're actually gonna make this a little bit more intimate, uh Come on, then.
- Sharon, um - Yes, darling.
I want you to think of the name of your first crush.
Now don't choose Ozzy, obviously, uh no, that would be way too easy.
But got that in your head? - Oh, yeah.
- All right, cool.
I just want you to jot down the name and then fold it up into fourths when you're done.
- Mm-hmm.
- I will look away.
Fold it when you're done.
Good.
- Thank you.
- Excellent.
- You folded that up? - I have.
And I do want to point this out, just make sure that no one can see through this, all right? You can't see through that or anything like that.
You locked it in fourths inside.
And I want you to hold on to that.
Be the judge, keep me honest.
Okay? Okay.
I want you to jumble up the letters in your mind.
Mm-hmm.
And hold out your other hand for me as well.
Focus on the name, think of one letter right now.
I'm getting there's a "B" in this name, yes? Is that what you're thinking? Yes.
Um, I'm also getting an "N" as well.
Does that make sense? I'm very frightened.
- I am very frightened.
- Let me see, Sharon.
I'm gonna try this.
Uh, I'm getting some letters, the "N" was there.
I think this was it.
I'm locked in.
Can you just name the name for the first time out loud? Robin.
Oh, my you oh! That is a souvenir for you.
Jeez! How'd you do that? Reading my mind, that's private business.
Thank you.
He's not a great showman, but he does have interesting stuff.
Interesting because the thing is Yeah, I don't know how he does that.
I just made that name up.
I didn't go with any guy called Robin.
I made it up.
You did? Yes.
Hey, if you don't win America's Got Talent, you could go work for the CIA.
Sure.
Thank you.
- Okay, thank you.
- Thank you.
A little nervous.
A little anxious.
But, uh, yeah.
Can't let that work me up too much or else I panic, I get scared, and I mess up.
My audition round was dangerous but it was something that people couldn't relate with because of the apparatus that I had.
No! This looks dangerous, and it's exciting, but do we really know that that would kill you? This one here now, I am upping the danger level.
So I think this is a lot more of what Howard was wishing for.
This is the most dangerous escape that I have ever attempted.
I want you guys to talk to the medics.
I'm the crazy one getting inside the box of water.
This is Spencer's dad.
You guys wanna kind of walk him through? I was born and raised as a magician but this is all real.
- What is the signal? - I'm sorry? What is your signal if there is a problem? If there's ever a signal, there's this.
If I leave the stool, that means there's a problem and you should be right behind me.
And if something goes wrong in this case, that could be my own little watery grave.
You have those bolt cutters ready, just sharpen them up.
All right.
You've been training.
You've been training lots of hours.
Just focus on picking those locks quickly and getting out in time.
All right, Spencer horsman.
- Ready? - Definitely anxious.
As long as I make it out alive, it's a successful performance for me.
This is risky.
A very small, little tank of water.
Good luck.
Thank you.
This could go pretty bad.
We want to eliminate competition - There he goes.
- But not like this.
He's going to be under the water for 1 minute and 25 seconds.
It goes any longer than that, then we have to send the medic in.
No tricks to this one.
Oh, my God.
I'm nervous.
This is crazy.
Something could go wrong, and if something goes wrong in this case, I could really get hurt.
Oh, my God.
I'm nervous.
Oh.
Five seconds left.
- Are you okay? - Yeah.
Yes.
- I've never seen that before.
Have you? - No? Nice.
Nice work.
Thanks, guys.
This is what's great about being a judge, when a guy like that comes out for his second chance and nails it.
Okay.
Do you think do you think that he could step it up from here? That's something to think about.
Yeah.
Slow, deep breaths, sir.
If you are a vocal group, please head toward the stairs for me.
To make it to New York would just be I'd say the most exciting thing that has ever happened to either of us.
Vocal group competition is very, very stiff.
We gonna have to really convince these judges that what they're looking at is really the best that this category has to offer.
Today is the day we're gonna show the judges what we got, right, baby? Yeah.
Okay, ready for Eric and Olivia.
All right.
Hello.
- Hello.
- Hi.
I remember you being put through to Vegas.
It was a great night for you.
It was incredibly exciting.
I tried to convince you two to hook up as a couple.
Olivia, I can't help but notice that you're a very beautiful woman.
I'm sure Eric Well, thank you.
Is your boyfriend, is that correct? No.
Eric, let me get this straight, because I think I'm reading the tea leaves here.
Are you in love with her? Because you got to be.
She's beautiful and she's talented, but we're just friends.
Music's most important.
I got the moves like Jagger got the moves like Jagger After a night like that and you smell success, does he become any more attractive to you? [Laughter.]
If that doesn't do it, forget it.
You got to move on.
[Laughs.]
Let's hear what you've prepared.
[Playing what a wonderful world.]
I see trees of green red roses too I see them bloom for me and for you and I think to myself what a wonderful world and I think to myself what a wonderful world yeah Okay, thanks.
- Thank you.
- All right.
I believe they could be a headlining act.
- Really? - I don't think so.
Yeah.
I think her voice is that strong.
The first audition was like a dream to me.
And I'll be there be there yes, I will oh, you got a friend you've got a friend This is what I call perfection.
Me and my dad, we usually perform on the street, and being able to perform in front of thousands of people is a blessing.
There's nothing greater than a father working with his daughter and being able to cherish those moments.
Hey, everybody let's have some fun get together and let the good times roll don't sit there mumbling, talking trash you want to have good time, you got to spend some cash Don't matter whether rainy weather we gonna do it, do it together ooh, that's nice let's do it together oh, yes Was there a slip up there? Well, I really don't think so, but it could have been.
Shanice - Did you did you hear it? - You heard it.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- Yes.
- Yeah, okay.
Okay, thank you.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
- I really like her.
- Yes.
And, you know, if she had her own television show It's lovely.
She'd bring out her dad for one song.
She's one of the best singers - in this whole competition.
- Yep.
- And she looks adorable.
- The duo is not.
Give me five.
We think we stand out because we are a family.
And we sing together, and we do it out of love.
It brings us closer every single time.
I'm really excited to be in Vegas.
Hey! Hi.
It's shiny, and at night the signs are bright.
Okay.
You guys ready? Yeah.
Come on over.
You anxious? You ready to go out there? Yes.
Last time, you were a big hit.
Everybody thought you were so adorable.
- Hi! - Hi! This is a lot of people.
Yes.
It's, like, 609.
Alabama, Arkansas, I do love my mom and pa not the way that I do love you Hi, guys.
- Hey, how are you? - Hey.
Welcome to Vegas.
- Thank you for having us here.
- Thank you.
Well, we're looking forward to hearing your audition and best of luck.
The night we met I knew I needed you so so won't you say you love me I'll make you so proud of me we'll make them turn their heads She's precious.
She's so precious.
Everywhere we go so won't you please - * be my, be my baby * - * be my little baby * my one and only baby say you'll be my darling be my, be my baby be my baby now whoa, oh, oh, oh, ooh - Thank you.
- Thank you.
Okay.
I was nervous but as soon as we took a deep breath together, it was all it was like, we all calmed down.
I felt good.
She felt good.
You did a really good job.
This was like a dress rehearsal.
He was teaching her the song almost.
That's what it felt like to me.
- Mm-hmm.
- It's adorable.
It is adorable.
It's sweet.
So we're moving on to comedians.
I got six comedians all night.
No comic has ever won this thing, ever.
Remember how nervous you used to get when you first started though? Oh, yeah.
I would literally get zits and diarrhea.
Everybody's joking around with each other, but each of us wants to be the one that moves on.
If opportunity favors the prepared mind, I am the prepared mind.
Jacob is the youngest of the group, he's the newest.
So I'm expecting the least from him.
Looking sharp.
Thanks, you too.
When I was little, I really wanted to be a magician.
I did this one trick where I got my dad to disappear emotionally from the rest of my childhood.
You're great and you have a career ahead of you, young man, and this is very exciting.
Oh, my God.
Thank you.
I realized recently how long I had been single because I just asked for a glass of water at a restaurant and the lady behind the counter was handing it to me.
And there was this moment where our fingers touched.
I realized how long I had been single, because it was way too big of a moment.
But I have this problem I lose things all the time, like my keys or glasses.
That happened to me a few weeks ago.
I actually lost my job, and I don't know if it's gonna turn up again but Yeah, he's bringing it.
The writ his writing, I think, is really good.
My goal at that job was to work the least amount where I wouldn't get fired which I don't I don't know what that amount is.
But now I know what the amount right below that is.
My name's Jacob.
Thank you.
Thanks, Jacob.
His material could have been much stronger.
I liked him.
Let's see more, see what else we have, and then make a decision.
- Yeah.
- Right.
Because we can't put all six through.
Right now.
Oh, I love being an American.
I read there's a billion people in this world who each live on $1 a day.
Why can't one of them be my girlfriend? How about you, Christopher Walken, where have you been all morning? You know, I got up at maybe 6:00, maybe 7:00.
Went hunting for fresh, ripe, juicy blueberries.
Sharon! The curtain is right there, and in a few minutes I'm going to be on the other side of it.
With nothing but the judges.
A little shaky right now.
It's great to be here in Vegas.
I went to a psychic.
Most people think that's a scam.
But I got my money's worth out of it because I asked the psychic if she saw me going to jail in the future, and she said no.
So I robbed her.
Thank you, guys.
If we do put him through, he's got a lot to overcome.
I think he needs to quicken his delivery.
Got to be quicker, quicker, quicker.
- Tom, right this way.
- Thank you.
Thank you.
My audition in New York went better than I had hoped.
I would sneak over to my neighbor's house late at night, and I would bounce up and down on their tramp-Arlene.
That was their daughter's name Arlene.
I am a big fan of yours.
You're excellent.
Wow.
And thank you for being on the show.
It's pressure packed.
When I woke up this morning I could feel Tension mounting.
Tension's my dog.
It's so awkward, I just found out my ex-girlfriend needs a kidney transplant.
And I'm not really worried because her body hasn't rejected an organ in 25 years.
Two weeks after she dumped me, I was fortunate enough to see her get hit by a snowplow.
And that was awkward for me because I had never driven a snowplow before.
People ask me all the time if I still miss her.
And I do, because I haven't had the scope on my rifle adjusted, but I'll get her.
She said I was always invading her privacy.
She didn't actually say it, but she wrote in her diary all the time.
Thank you for listening, I appreciate it.
Tom got the reaction.
He got the laughs per minute that I think he wanted.
And he's I think he's going to be happy with that.
I mean this experience for a comedian has got to be horrible.
And all the other comedians are back there watching him.
What is that like? The next comedian out has quite a - Yeah.
- Hill to climb.
Yeah, I wouldn't want to follow him.
All right, go get 'em.
So when we saw you last, Howie and Sharon were your big fans, and I was not.
We're gonna take you to the movie Star Wars.
These are the auditions you didn't get to see.
Jack Nicholson's audition for Darth Vader.
Luke, I got some bad news.
As it turns out, I'm your father.
I found myself forcing a smile on the later material.
Okay.
You know you're an impressionist, and I'm not doing any impressions today though, Howard.
Why? They didn't really seem to work with you.
True.
And Howie gave me the advice to write.
My advice to write was to write for your impressions.
I totally missed the boat on that, man.
Well, you know, tonight's the night.
Change my mind.
- Right now? - Go for it, Frank.
Well, being on this show has got me rattled.
I've been drinking so much it's taken a toll on my health.
Much like the owl, my liver is spotted and endangered.
You know what, um, can I start over? Would it be possible? All right, sorry about that.
Much like the owl, my liver is spotted and endangered.
Sorry, guys.
Frank, you took an interesting gamble there.
You threw out your comfort zone, you threw out the impressions.
What happened there? I've never been so nervous onstage, and I've been doing it for years.
And I shouldn't be that nervous, but I am.
If you were me, what would you say to you? I would say, "you want to give me a chance?" You know, I'm just trying to scratch the surface of comedy.
Okay.
Thanks, Frank.
Thank you, guys.
Nick, not good.
Didn't didn't do what you thought? No, man.
As soon as I said, "can I start over?" I wanted to, like, either shoot myself or jump into a hole.
Can can we bring Frank back out, please? Yup.
I think they they want you, the judges want to talk to you again.
Hey, Frank.
Frank, you really blundered here.
This was your big break.
You had two judges that loved you.
You do impressions, and you changed everything.
And then you came out here, and you got lost in your act, and that's suicide.
I'm sorry to say that we have to send you home immediately.
I'm sorry.
I didn't know they were gonna be sending people home now.
So I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight.
It's horrible to see that.
This is a fierce competition.
We're talking real show business here.
Don't blow it like that.
Just give it your all.
This is such a great opportunity.
You can see what's at stake.
Welcome back to America's Got Talent.
At the Venetian and the Palazzo.
It's Vegas week.
And it's time for the kids' category.
Come on let's get it smashin'.
Vegas is cool because it has a lot of lights.
The exciting thing is the hotel rooms and the pool.
Tell me about some of the friends you made.
I have a lot of best friends here, like Sebastien.
At America's Got Talent, it's not just about singing or doing your talent.
We got to do our homework too.
Let's get to work, please.
We just want to get back on the stage.
Don't you blame it on sunshine ay, yay-yay aaay! Okay, we have a competition here.
Ay, yay-yay - A lot of competition.
- Okay.
Ah, ah, aaaah My whole life is about mariachi.
Mariachi is my soul.
Mariachi is my heart.
My friend Sebastien is about to go on.
Good luck, Sebastien.
Guadalajara, Guadalajara Guadalajara, Guadalajara He's so cute.
Ay, yay-yay ay, yay-yay Guadalajara! That kid just puts a smile on my face.
On my face.
He's magic.
- Sebastien.
- Oh, my God, his voice.
- His voice is huge.
- I know.
He has the loudest, like, the best voice ever.
- You ready to go? - Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Take it to the top? Take it to the top, all the way to the bottom.
Wait, no, no.
That's not how it goes.
We take it to the bottom all the way to the top.
My first audition I did so good.
Since I've seen you in his arms I want you back I fainted when they told me I made it to Vegas.
My baby's always dancin' and it wouldn't be a bad thing from that night I kissed our love good-bye don't blame it on the sunshine don't blame it on the moonlight don't blame it on good times blame it on the boogie So how did I do? How how do you think you did? I think I did good, great.
- Well, that's good.
- Good.
That's good to know.
Th thank you so much.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Thank you.
You ready? She took off.
- Are you kidding me? - She's fearless.
Oh, my God.
Howard, God.
Like a monkey.
Whoa! Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Are you how are you holding up? Yeah, I'm a little a little nervous.
- Ready for the show? - Yeah.
I won't run, I won't fly I will never make it by without you without you you, you you without you - All right, thanks.
- Thank you.
He reminds me of a young Billy Joel.
- Really? - Yes, he does.
I think he's got a great voice.
I think he even did better here, than he did in his original audition.
You know what's scary, is even though there's more kids, there's the same number of spots.
So more kids are gonna be disappointed than ever before.
- Right.
- So But we got be discerning.
So right now we're going to do male singers.
There's a there's a pretty competitive spirit in the male singer category.
There's a lot talent out here.
And the most pressure I've ever felt all these years, singing.
Gonna start in five minutes.
Ulysses.
Ulysses.
I'm Uulysses, and I'm a singer, musician.
Love Exciting and new Do you ever do the Green Acres theme? Green acres is the place - * for me * - Now, you got Come on.
That's the act - Theme songs.
- The theme songs from the '70s.
- No.
- Yes.
- Yes.
- You're going to Vegas.
Yeah! Love boat And now, here I am in Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world.
- Ulysses.
- Hey, what's up, man? How you doing, man? Long time no see.
Yeah.
It's been a while, too long.
- Yeah.
- You doing all right? I see you dressed up for us.
Yeah, man.
There's a man who leads a life of danger to everyone he meets he stands a stranger secret agent man, secret agent man they've given you a number and taken away your name So do you think you proved me wrong with that? - Yeah.
- Okay.
Thank you.
- Good to see you all.
- Good seeing you.
Take care.
Do you see me on the side? Man, I was groovin'.
I was with you.
With you were you groovin'? I was the secret agent man.
I was right there, man.
I was with you.
- I was feelin' it.
- Hot dog.
There is a show in him.
I don't like his choices today.
There is no show in him.
There is absolutely He walks on like yogi bear.
- So what? - And he has a great voice.
Big deal.
Now I'm free free fallin' when everything's made to be broken This whole thing is really, really important to me.
I feel like I've been just training my whole life for this, and I've been here for a reason.
And I don't want the world to see me 'cause I don't think that they'd understand He needs time to grow up a bit.
I think he is a star.
- Wow.
- Really? - Yeah.
- I don't see it.
- That's amazing.
- I don't hear it.
No, I don't know the name of the band but they're good aren't they? Would you like to dance? then later on I can drive you home I don't know that he holds up to other singers on this show at all.
We have a lot of great singers that we saw.
Let's look at more, and we'll make a decision.
- Right.
- Yup.
Is that am I coming in from the left? Yeah, you're gonna come out.
You know, I mean, my dream is really to be able to go to a restaurant and not look for the place where I set up my equipment for 100 bucks.
You're everything I need yeah What a breath of fresh air you are.
You are so beautiful You know, I struggled with addiction probably more than I haven't.
I've been clean for five years, and a lot of good things have come my way.
My girlfriend, a new baby.
America's got talent feels like my last chance, you know? Maybe I'm a man maybe I'm a lonely man who's in the middle of something that he doesn't really understand maybe I'm a man maybe you're the only woman who could ever help me baby, won't you help me understand - When he sings - Yes.
- It shows that - Yeah.
- He has it all.
- Yeah.
Maybe I'm amazed - Thank you very much.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
I was pretty nervous.
What do you think the judges felt? I'm not sure.
I don't know, I have no idea.
- I know he's Joe cocker - esque, but I love him.
This is one of the hardest things I'd ever done.
There's so much at stake, and it sort of got to me.
I'll find out tomorrow.
So it will be a long it will be a long 24 hours.
Tough category.
We we've got a lot of tough decisions.
Welcome back to America's Got Talent at the Venetian and the Palazzo.
The judges' favorites have performed.
Now it's time to decide how many of those acts are going through to the finals.
Okay, with the magicians, here are these guys.
- Who are you gonna throw out? - No.
Oh, I think definite yes.
I'm gonna fight you on that one.
I would love to make it to live shows.
It'll be an absolute dream come true.
I think that the dance is blatantly obvious.
They brought it every time, they stepped it up.
This is a yes.
Absolutely.
I was disappointed in this performance.
Yes.
- The male singers.
- Love him.
- Stop it.
- I love him.
You're gonna knock out really good singers for that guy.
That's ridiculous.
- I love this guy.
- His character.
I love this character.
He's a good writer, but his delivery fell apart.
No comedian has ever gone all the way in this thing, and I want to be the comedian that goes all the way.
These danger acts really stepped up.
- We're putting him through.
- I'm sorry.
Howard, you can't just make a decision with that.
- Why not? - No.
- Because you can't.
- There's three of us.
I would be happy if we didn't put through any female singers.
Hold it.
I feel strongly about one.
- I feel strongly about two.
- I like two.
The kids.
Seriously, we have a category here, that's really tough.
We only have so many spots.
I think he's amazing.
I think he will get eaten alive.
- I think he's surprising.
- No.
- He will get - I think he's unpredictable.
Phenomenal voice.
This is a dilemma.
She's a great singer.
She needs to lose him.
I think we should say it to her.
- If she loses him - Right.
Would you rather give the spot to her than to them? Yes.
I believe that this guy is a star.
- Did you hit your head today? - No.
- He's no longer legitimate.
- No.
It is a huge opportunity here.
And it's a huge chance to to do something great.
And I've never had that chance before.
This is the hardest part of the day.
The answer is no.
I'm so sorry.
I told Alexa, like, no matter what happens, I'm really proud of her.
A lot of comics this year.
Only so many places.
But we've come to a decision.
We're sending you home.
I'm devastated.
I'll see you in New York.
I have really this is what I need.
I need this.
- Right on.
- I got kids, and I got a wife.
And I got to pay bills and Well, you deserve it.
I'm sorry to say, but you will not be going forward.
The decision is No.
I am so sorry.
You did a good job, baby.
I'm so proud of you.
Thank you, mommy.
I want you to know how much thought went into this decision.
You guys you're going to New York.
It means a lot.
It means my whole life.
It's all I want to do.
We'll see you in New York.
You're through.
Congratulations.
What do you think your mom's gonna to say when you tell her? She'll be really happy.
Yeah.
The fact is you won't be coming to New York.
There's good, and there is great.
Great.
Great.
You're going to New York.
I can't wait to see you.
- Whoo.
- Good job, boys.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Yeah! - New York! Puerto Rico! The decision is this is the end of the road.
You're going home.
I'm so sorry.
Guys.
we're going to let you go home.
I just want to tell you that this was not an easy decision.
And I know this means the world to you.
But we'll see you in New York.
- What happened? - I'm in shock.
I'm going to New York.
This is a big deal.
I don't know.
This just feels like a big door opening for me, you know.
We went back and forth, and back and forth trying to make the right decision.
You are not going home.
You're coming to New York.
Congratulations.
Oh, who would have oh, my God.
Who would have thought? This was really tough.
A lot of arguing between the three of us.
You guys are gonna go home today.
Three judges, one answer.
And that answer is yes.
We'll see you in New York.
Congratulations.
This is beyond anything I've ever felt.
And I'm completely overwhelmed.
We've come to our decision.
And the decision is we'll see you in New York, you're through.
Oh, my God.
I really can't believe it.
It was a tough category.
So I applaud you for taking the risk, putting yourself on the line, and being judged.
I'm so sorry.
We're going to be sending you home.
We've come to a decision.
And we all agree.
We're going to see you in New York.
- It's a dream come true.
- Yeah.
- Dream come true.
- Yeah.
I apologize.
You're not going to Hollywood.
Because we do the show in New York now.
- Oh.
- You're moving on.
- You made it.
- Yeah.
Whoo.
You will both be going home today.
It's all right.
It's all right.
You'll come back next year.
You're all right.
I'm not gonna give up.
It's not going to be my last chance.
It's biggest opportunity I ever had in life.
And now I'm going back to a normal life.
It's gonna be really tough.
This is our hardest decision.
This was our biggest fight.
We wanted it to work.
It didn't work.
Andrew, you have a gift.
I suggest you hone this gift.
I'm so sorry, Andrew.
You're going home.
Oh, man, come on.
Knowing that it's it's the end of the experience for me, it's just killing me.
