Amish Mafia (2012) s03e01 Episode Script

He has risen

Esther: Last season on "amish mafia" You know, John really hasn't been taking it too well with Freeman being gone.
Maybe it's best he goes, too.
Jolin: Levi's made a lot of enemies over the years.
Wayne: If Merlin wants a war, he's got one.
Ohh! You're going down! The bishop he gave me the official blessing of taking care of the amish aid.
I don't have to worry about Merlin anymore.
Merlin's got to worry about me now.
Alan: I've known this bishop for a long time.
He's not gonna like what Caleb's been up to.
Esther: If there is a Bible on your door, you are in big trouble with the church.
[ Gunshot .]
The church, the community kind of got me So, what's going on? Caleb: Everything will be fine with them.
I've made my peace with the church, and they have no reason to come after me.
Esther: Yes, there really is an amish mafia.
levi: The community's starting to believe in me again, and they're respecting me, respect me for what I'm doing.
I'm getting work done.
I'm helping people.
All right.
Past few months, we've been working with the church, fixing our problem.
So the community's trusting us, and things are just getting better.
But still got problems.
There are still some holdouts.
Still have to be careful of what we do around here.
Sometimes it's hard, but It's business.
In the amish community, a double life It's one of the worst sins you can commit.
And what Caleb was doing with the bishop's daughter It could hurt my business.
And that's why he's suffering for it.
Caleb he's gonna deal with some heavy stuff 'cause of what he did.
Let's go.
[ Car door closes .]
Ready to go back to work? Amish aid here in Holmes county has been good.
The community's coming around and trusting me more.
People's been coming to me, and I've been helping them out.
They want somebody that's gonna be around, not running off like Merlin was all the time.
Soon enough, people won't even remember who Merlin was.
He's just gonna be like a cow fart in the wind.
He blew away.
[ Cellphone rings .]
Hello? Yeah, I think I know where that is.
I'll head over right now and see what I can do.
He told me he's got these English kids tearing up his fields with their atvs.
[ Engine revving .]
These guys think it doesn't hurt to tear up a guy's field, but it does.
I mean, that's affecting the guy's livelihood big time.
He makes his lmng farming.
That would be like me coming into your office and putting an ax through your desk and upsetting everything.
I'll take care of this problem like I always do.
[ Electricity crackles .]
[ Gun cocks .]
I'm Paul castline Jr.
I'm a law-enforcement official From Lancaster county, Pennsylvania.
I help maintain the peace around the community.
I've been doing this for about four years now.
I enjoy my job.
I enjoy the work and getting to help society.
As a law-enforcement official, I deal with your petty criminals all the way up to your hardened felons.
I'm authorized to use whatever force necessary.
We train with advanced firearms.
Being in Lancaster county, I've come across my fair share of amish criminals.
Most of them, I seem to find, are younger folk during rumspringa.
There are usually harassments, disorderly conducts.
However, I feel there are more serious crimes being committed in and around a specific group, a dangerous group that's hiding behind the amish and their good name.
I've been following levi [Bleep.]
A.
K.
A.
"Lebanon" levi, for quite some time now.
And recently, his organization has achieved notoriety, which makes him a lot easier to track and follow.
Jolin: Levi called us in for a meeting, so Alvin and I are gonna head over.
Last few months, we've just been getting our house together.
Things in paradise are running pretty smooth right now.
We've been just trying to keep things quiet, you know, enjoy the simple life here.
There's a reason they call this place paradise.
"The righteousness of the upright "shall deliver them: But transgressors shall be taken into their own naughtiness.
" And I'm talking about levi.
This is what that scripture means.
Levi: They're all pissed off, and they're all ready for action.
So be prepared.
We're gonna keep it quiet.
The church is still breathing behind my back.
We won't make no fuss about it.
We can keep it pretty low-key.
You can have your truck here, the truck in the back.
Take that truck so they don't know who you are when you come after them.
There's a reason I keep jolin and Alan around.
Go get it done.
Come on.
Get in.
Get in.
I'm gonna go see Alan.
I want to see how he's doing.
I want to make sure that Alan doesn't feel abandoned.
Since Alan went to jail, I've been focusing on my family's aluminum-siding business.
I wanted to be in charge of Holmes county again.
But the bishop said the community's been through enough.
Aah! Through prayer, I've been able to relax and be able to be at peace.
I've been focusing on the teachings of Christ Compassion, charity, and forgiveness.
But I have not forgotten about Wayne's betrayal.
God! Oh.
Oh.
[ Door buzzes .]
I understand.
It's really frustrating for me to see Alan in prison.
I've been there myself.
I know what it feels like.
But knowing that levi's responsible for this makes it even worse.
I wish things wouldn't have had to go the way that they did.
What's up with these Kentucky guys? When you got arrested, things changed quite a bit.
Things are on hold right now.
After Alan was arrested, it was just too risky for the Kentucky amish to come to Lancaster.
I told the Kentucky amish just to lay low The [Speaks Pennsylvania dutch.]
only happens every couple years.
It's where the heads of the amish aid settle their problems Money and cattle and land.
This affects all of the amish community.
Things need to be at peace.
We can't have a war right now in the community.
Listen, you want me to wait, I'll wait.
I'll sit here and watch bars all day.
All right? I can do that.
But as soon as the leaders' meeting's over, I want you to tell them boys from Kentucky to go do their job.
Jolin: Let's check out this barn.
Levi's guys said that Paul's crew is squatting in a barn right outside hart county.
We're gonna check it out and see what we're dealing with.
See anything in there? No.
All right.
All right.
Jolin: I don't know what we're gonna find in the barn, but we're a long way from home, and there's no one to call for help.
Yeah.
I don't know where they went, but I do plan on finding them before they know that we're here.
Levi: Caleb put everything I worked for in jeopardy.
But if I'm feeling the fallout, Caleb is, too.
Good.
What else do you want me to do? That pile there ain't gonna move by itself.
Go get that pile in, too.
I know what I need to do to get by.
If there's anything I've learned these last few months, it's how to be patient.
Get at it.
Get your work done.
I think I've paid enough for what happened.
I'm actually setting up my new house with my mom.
Things are finally starting to feel normal again, but I should have known that that wouldn't last.
With my brothers gone, I was alone in the old house, and I had some issues with some English guys.
John came back to Lancaster because he heard that I wasn't safe.
Even after all that I did to him, he's still worried about my safety.
But my brother took things a little too far, and something really bad happened to him.
John: I'm here for a disorderly conduct.
Me and this guy got in a little bit of a scuffle.
This guy was getting in my sister's face, and I was defending my sister.
I might be a little guy, but I can take pain.
The more pain you put me in, the harder I fight back.
Expect the worst and hope for the best.
I mean, that's all we can really do right now.
I think the judge did the right thing by finding Mr.
schmucker not guilty.
It's a great house, but I just feel that it's less about my safety and more about keeping track of me.
Merlin: I'm meeting an old friend who doesn't like Wayne.
I can't take Holmes county back by myself.
I need foot soldiers.
In Dutch, "ruck" means "dress.
" Merlin: Ruck is very pious.
He is a true follower of Jesus Christ.
He even wears a robe like Jesus wore in the Bible.
Esther: Ruck is soft-spoken, but it's like he has two people lmng in his body.
Merlin: His faith is the strongest that I've seen.
Ruck is a disturbed person.
[ Whip cracks .]
He's out there in left field, and there's nobody playing ball.
He's a ticking time bomb.
The smallest thing can set him off.
Caleb: Ruck was shunned for a very long time.
For beating a man with a Bible because he was chewing gum in church.
I hate ruck Davey.
I think Wayne might have had something to do with it.
He's trying to mess with my friends.
And if he is, he's messing with fire.
God gave me a path, and it begins with ruck.
The bishop owes me, and I'm gonna trade him a favor for a favor because down the road, I see ruck coming in very handy.
Jolin: We're definitely deep in Kentucky amish territory.
Barns are falling down.
Animals are just roaming around.
Hey.
All right.
These people definitely don't take too kindly to strangers.
We need some help.
The bishop told us Paul Miller would help us.
[ Speaks Pennsylvania Dutch .]
Alvin: These guys They're pretty quiet.
You kind of have to respect that.
Hey.
No.
Huh? Whoa.
My experience when you're investigating a suspect or a criminal organization, the more pressure you apply, the more likely they are to slip up.
Levi and his crew have brought enough attention to themselves here recently that all I got to do is sit back and wait for him to make a mistake.
Wayne: These kids are riding their atvs in people's fields.
You might think tire tracks in a field are not a big deal, but a lot of amish farmers don't have a bulldozer to go out there and straighten everything up.
It takes days.
If you're an English person and you mess with the amish, my face is the last face you want to see.
[ Engine revs .]
[ Tires screech .]
I don't think they'll be riding atvs anytime soon.
The farmer has nothing to worry about anymore.
The guy we chased into the woods told us where we can find the Kentucky amish, but I got to make sure this is really Paul's crew.
This is definitely our guys.
I see at least five or six guys right now.
I think there's more.
I say we come back in a little bit.
Okay.
Give them a surprise.
Caleb's like breaking a horse.
Takes time to train.
They don't want to listen, but they eventually learn.
It looks like the place is a little bit dirty.
You're not keeping it clean like I told you.
Are you getting tired of hauling [Bleep.]
I got some payments that need to be collected, and I'd like for you to go do it.
Just got to do the things right.
Keep it quiet.
Nothing loud.
Listen to what I tell you.
I'm here at Esther's 'cause I tried getting a place to stay, knocked on a few other doors, but didn't really have any luck.
My last option is seeing if Esther's here.
[ Knock on door .]
[ Door opens .]
John! I knew that John would stay in Lancaster after his court case, but I have no idea how he found this new house already.
John knows that I feel bad about what happened, but if levi finds out that John's lmng here, I can't even begin to imagine what he's gonna do.
I mean, yeah, we have an extra room for a night or two.
John: Esther screwed me and Freeman over.
She's gonna make it right whether she likes it or not.
I'm still the head of this family.
Caleb: I'm really happy that levi gave me another job.
Making these collections and taking payments.
[ Pounding on door .]
I don't understand why people don't want to pay me.
I feel like I am being disrespected.
When one person starts thinking that they don't have to pay and then another person does and then soon everyone, that leads to a downfall.
Man: Have a good day.
I'm not gonna put up with it.
All right.
If you have to ask why we would pray, then you're never really gonna get it.
[ Speaks indistinctly .]
Alvin: Levi sent us down here to stop the Kentucky amish, and that's what we're gonna do.
Get down! [ Gun cocks .]
[ Gunshot .]
[ Lighter striking .]
There's supposed to be a so-called secret organization or secret society inside the amish community, but yet, they're allowing themselves to be filmed showing exactly what it is they're doing.
It doesn't make any sense to me.
Levi may think he is fooling people by doing things in public, but he's not fooling me.
Woman: One of TV's most popular reality shows, shot right here in central p.
A.
, in Lancaster county.
We're talking, of course, about "amish mafia," Lebanon levi.
I want to tell you, we're here at the manheim business expo.
Levi's here to participate for the community.
He's gmng back, as he normally does.
Gmng back to the community is a good thing I enjoy.
And for this flood they had last year, there are still people not at home, and we're trying to raise money for the food banks and to get everybody back home again.
Nice to meet you.
The only thing levi is helping is himself.
He wants the English people to think that he's a nice guy and cares about their community.
But if you're not amish, levi could care less about your problems.
[ Laughs .]
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Levi's very transparent, though.
You know, you can see right through him and see what he really is Nothing but a common thug.
We want this to stop.
We want to take down his organization.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
We'll see you gentlemen.
All right.
Glad to see you, friend.
Take care.
See ya.
Wayne: I've got crews out there working every day of the week.
Since I've been put in charge of amish aid, business has gone real good for me.
All right, guys.
I'm out of here.
I dropped that tree.
You guys can clean it up and bring it down.
Leaving already? Yeah.
Where you going? I pay you to work, not ask questions.
Running amish aid and running a business does not leave much time for personal things.
Sometimes you have to leave early to take care of business.
Give me some space here.
You guys got to give me some private time here.
You're good.
Oh.
Oh.
I'm gonna go talk to the bishop about ruck Davey.
If he's gonna be any help to me, he needs to be unshunned.
Hello.
The bishop holds all the power in the community, and they do not like their orders to be challenged.
Luckily, I know this bishop and his dealings from when I ran amish aid.
A bishop in debt is a bishop that does not practice what he preaches.
If the community found out about this, it could ruin his reputation.
The red rose ceremony is a simple and humble way of forgmng someone's debt.
Esther: Only the bishop can initiate the red-rose ritual, and the entire community knows what it means.
Caleb: The red-rose ritual has been passed down for generations, and it was originally just for forgmng debts.
But now it can mean other things besides just money.
Esther: A red rose can change your life in the amish community.
It's like winning the lottery with the church.
For me to threaten a bishop, it could get me exiled from the community, but I need to take the risk.
The only thing that ruck Davey's ever wanted is to worship God with his fellow amish and to be loyal to the true leader of Holmes county.
Levi: Oh, yeah.
People in the community are coming back to me a little more since things are getting better with the church.
Well, do you have an address for her? She's out on a high wall? That's not good.
When amish run out with English, most times they try not to let them come back.
I'll send one of my guys out there, and we'll search for her.
We'll bring her home for you.
Aw [Bleep.]
What are these guys trying to do? You want to go back the other way? I'm going for it.
[ Engine revs .]
Ne: The amish commit crimes just like the English I'm going for it.
Arson, there's been cases of rape, prostitution, assault.
There was Monroe beachy from Holmes county, Ohio, that was convicted of the Ponzi scheme, stealing hundreds of dollars from amish families.
Abner king stoltzfus was notorious for his involvement in cocaine and methamphetamines here in Lancaster county.
Darvin ray peachy committed arson, setting fires to over a million dollars' worth of amish barns and livestock.
Edward gingerich, who was charged with homicide.
They're just like the English folk.
You know, they have criminal histories, and the list could go on.
I could stand here all day and talk to you about it.
[ Male announcer .]
There will be more pow Caleb: Amish produce stands and fruit stands pop up all the time.
And these farmers know they need to pay levi.
How's business? Well, if it's good, why haven't you been paying levi? You better watch your disrespect.
Levi wants this done quietly, but I'm going to remind people who I am.
Why should I? You don't want to pay.
This guy was really talking a lot of crap.
And that kind of thing can really come back and bite you in the ass.
Growing up on a farm, you learn how to hot-wire a tractor.
[ Engine revs .]
Every farm in Lancaster has a manure spreader.
And when they're spreading manure, you can smell it for Miles.
I'm not worried about what levi's gonna say because I don't care.
Amish people will respect me after I show them what I'm capable of.
Hey, Steve.
Hey, how you doing? I need to send somebody out to help this woman get her daughter back.
The only guy I have left is big Steve.
Dating an English person will get you shunned, so I have to show the English that they can't take advantage of us.
So, you think you can handle the job? Yes, I think so.
I think big Steve can get it done.
He can be very intimidating.
If I was English, I'd be worried about big Steve coming to my house.
I'm not sending anybody else.
I'm gonna send you.
I don't know how mean this guy is, but you could run into a lot of problems.
You're going on a plane where you never were before.
You're going to a state where you never were before, so you got to make sure you do it right.
I love that kind of work.
Okay.
Man: Get down! [ Siren wailing .]
Jolin: What am I being pulled over for? I didn't know it was a 30.
Merlin: This season on "amish mafia" Steve: Never been on an airplane.
Need you to step out of the car.
I ain't stepping out of [Bleep.]
I think levi's losing it.
You could get married eventually at some point.
I don't think the bishop is gonna take too lightly what I tell him about Wayne.
John's back in town.
What? You don't think I know that.
Sit your ass down! You shut up! Levi: I seen Esther, and she got beat up.
I've kind of been lmng a double life.
Our people will not be corrupted by the English anymore.
[ Police radio chatter .]
