Batman: The Brave and the Bold (2008) s01e24 Episode Script

Mayhem of the Music Meister!

[GUN COCKS.]
Uh.
[GROANING.]
So here we are again, Batman.
Face to Two Face.
The warden at Arkham Asylum was worried, Harvey.
Seems you disappeared without leaving a note.
Just two guards in intensive care.
Coming here solo, you weren't playing the odds.
Except we both know that with you the odds are always even.
Two Face: half good, half evil.
And the coin always decides which half wins.
Your lucky day, Bats.
Coin says he lives.
Back off.
All due respect, boss a bat in the hand don't come knocking twice.
Point taken, boys.
-Final request, Bats? -Yes.
You take skinny.
Leave muscles to me.
[GRUNTS.]
Two-bit punks.
Think you can double-cross Two Face? [MAN SHOUTS.]
[MAN COUGHING.]
[GROANS.]
[SHOUTS.]
The first toss decided whether they'd get you this one decides if I do.
You cheated, Batman.
Sorry, Harvey, but justice isn't a two-way street.
[RUMBLING.]
EQUINOX: Isn't this gyroscope magnificent? The ninth wonder of the world.
I knew you couldn't refuse my invitation, Batman.
What's your game, Equinox? EQUINOX: The ancients who worshipped here believed that the gyroscope kept the world turning and that if it ever stopped, the world would stop too.
Leave half the world in scorching sunlight.
EQUINOX: The other half forever in frozen night.
Yin and yang.
Order and chaos.
An eternal Equinox.
Fiendish plot.
Good thing I brought a friend.
EQUINOX: Dr.
Fate, lapdog of the Lords of Order.
[BOTH ROARING.]
[GRUNTS.]
Hungry? Then how about a knuckle sandwich? [BATMAN GRUNTING.]
With a side of Nth metal.
[BOTH GRUNTING.]
[BATMAN GROANS.]
EQUINOX: To gain control of the pit's energies one spirit in perfect balance must sacrifice another.
[FATE GROANS.]
[FATE GRUNTING.]
[BATMAN GROANING.]
EQUINOX: Arrogant, like your masters.
FATE: How? EQUINOX: A matter of balance.
An equal and opposite reaction.
FATE: You control the magics of chaos and order? Then you're-- Aah! EQUINOX: Ah, ah, ah.
No telling.
[GRUNTS.]
[BATMAN GROANING.]
FATE: Come.
That was too easy.
FATE: I sense Equinox wanted this.
But the picture is incomplete.
We must investigate further -at my tower.
-The Batcave.
We should make use of the superior tools for the job.
FATE: Agreed.
The Eldritch scrolls.
-The Batcomputer.
-State of the art crime lab.
-All-seeing orb of Octorum.
Right.
The tower it is.
What happened back there? FATE: Perhaps meditation may provide the answer.
Please don't touch that.
[SCREAMING.]
Something's terribly wrong.
Atlantis is under attack.
FATE: From beasts not seen on Earth for millions of years.
Open a portal.
Aquaman needs our help.
FATE: Wait.
These are not isolated incidents.
It’s happening everywhere.
The entire universe is careening violently between order and chaos.
[CROWD SCREAMING.]
FATE: The space-time continuum has been unbalanced.
Equinox.
[GASPS THEN SCREAMS.]
FATE: What? The shifting energies are affecting my powers.
We must consult my masters the Lords of Order.
The courts of order and chaos.
My master Nabu approaches with Typhon, Lord of Chaos.
We must treat them with utmost reverence so follow my lead and let me do all the talking.
Got it.
Who dares bring a mortal in the presence of deities? FATE: My lords, masters of this realm a humble servant of order traveled far with a worthy stranger to seek your wise counsel.
Will you hear our pleas? Listen, we've got major problems.
There's more than a little chaos in this one, Nabu.
I like him.
We're hoping you can help us stop the material plane from tearing itself apart.
I fear your universe is experiencing a violent decompression of tensions that have been building for eons.
Then maybe you can explain what this has to do with Equinox? The forces of order and chaos have been at war since time immemorial.
In a desperate bid for peace, an orphan was chosen empowered by both sides to act as an equalizer.
TYPHON: Now neither side could gain an advantage over the other for if either side became too powerful Equinox would tilt the balance back the other way.
Peace at last.
But cracking under the strain, he became obsessed.
Believing he could do a better job without answering to us.
-So he left.
-Continuing to carry out his duties in a way that made sense only to his fractured psyche.
But why involve me? In you he saw an equal a tool to terminate his own existence.
Now free of his fleshly prison he can tap into the same boundless energies from which we Lords of Chaos and Order derive our powers.
He's coming.
EQUINOX: Wrong.
He's here.
And he's famished.
As long as you're here, you may as well stay for dinner.
[ALL SCREAMING.]
FATE: The voices of the Lords of Order are silent.
Everything is as it was.
[RUMBLING.]
And I think I know why.
EQUINOX: Why did you run away? You left before I could express my appreciation for the help you gave me.
Shedding off the chains of my old existence to be reborn a God! EQUINOX: Time to ring down the curtain on this flawed universe.
[GROANS.]
FATE: He's too strong for me.
And with the combined powers of the Lords of Order and Chaos he's too strong for any hero.
Then maybe we should combine some powers of our own.
FATE: With your permission, I'll borrow all your powers and skills in the faint hope that combined into a single hero they may give one of us the necessary edge to defeat Equinox.
So who gets the powers? A battle royale against insurmountable odds? A clash of titans? My friends, the choice is clear.
BATMAN: Fate gets the powers.
Only he has the discipline to control such a force.
I was going to say that.
FATE: On the contrary, Batman my ways may be too rigid for this task but your proclivity towards chaos is just what we need now.
Do it.
[FATE SPEAKING IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE.]
[ALL GROANING.]
Bash him in the blowhole for us, Batman! Don't you mean, Batmonolith? EQUINOX: This universe will be torn apart so that it can be reborn.
I suppose that balances the books, Batman.
BATMAN: By my count, there's still a matter of interest.
[BOTH GRUNTING.]
EQUINOX: Your new stature hasn't changed your failed tactics.
BATMAN: Time to take this outside.
BATMAN: Fate? FATE: You didn't think I'd sit this one out, did you? To win you must focus.
BATMAN: Right.
EQUINOX: I warned you once not to get in my way now learn why.
[BATMAN GROANS.]
[EQUINOX GROANING THEN GRUNTING.]
It seems that the combined powers of all my old masters are more than a match for the powers of your friends.
Now, where was l? FATE: We need a plan.
BATMAN: You're right.
-I surrender.
FATE: That's not a plan! BATMAN: I can't win this fight.
I see that now.
EQUINOX: Such formalities no longer matter.
BATMAN: Just one thing.
The destruction of a universe hardly seems like an act of balance.
EQUINOX: Winding time back, giving the cosmos a new start a universe reborn in harmony.
Batman, only a being in perfect balance could even attempt what I do now.
BATMAN: Except you're not in perfect balance, are you? EQUINOX: What? What are you talking about? BATMAN: The chaos deep in your heart outweighs the order.
It’s why you rebelled against your lords.
EQUINOX: I rebelled because the type of balancing act they demanded -was impossible.
BATMAN: And you hate them for it.
EQUINOX: What do you know about never-ending responsibilities? Of course I hate them.
Wait.
If I'm not in balance then this was all for nothing? No.
No! BATMAN: You're cracking up, Equinox.
Balance this! FATE: Looks like Equinox has finally found his equilibrium.
[ALL GROANING.]
It’s over.
Equinox won't be back.
FATE: The balance has been restored.
BATMAN: Good work, guys.
Justice wins the day, thanks to the brave and the bold.
