Shark's Cove

"Next on" Baywatch: Shark! Shark! Debbie! Oh, my God! You know her? She's a very good friend of mine.
"Shauni, her body" wasn't recovered.
"I'm going to find out" what happened.
I didn't know you had a brother.
"I haven't seen him" for a long time, and I want to.
The doctor said that he had a disease schizophrenia.
Bobby! Take my hand! Don't jump! Eddie! God, Debbie, how do you do it? I was going all out.
Oh, it's easy I'd better or else.
You know my dad.
He just wants you to make it to the Olympics, that's all.
Yeah, and maintain my scholarship and stay away from Zach.
I just wish he cared a little more about my life and less about my times.
So I hear you and Zach are throwing a little beach party tonight? I hope you understand why we didn't invite you and Eddie.
I mean, it's mostly Zach's friends.
And some of them are kind of immature.
Hey, no problem.
Eddie and I will just sit in our rocking chairs all night.
You know, it's fine.
Debbie! Oh, God, it's Dad.
Please don't mention the beach party tonight.
Or Zach, okay? Okay.
Hello, Shauni.
Hi, Mr.
Kent.
So, Debbie, what was your best time today? You've been skipping practices to be with that surf bum.
Zach is not a bum.
Mr.
Kent, Debbie's doing her best I mean, we've been working out really hard.
She's been doing great.
Not hard enough.
You know how important this is.
I want you in bed tonight at 10:00 p.
m.
I want you in the pool tomorrow - at 6:00 a.
m.
- But Dad, tonight No "buts.
" You want the results, you pay the price.
Faster, dude! All right! Whoo! Whoo! What the heck are these guys doing? Oh, man.
Guys, give me a shove.
Eddie, what is it? Some hotshot out there thinks he owns the ocean.
Come on.
Whoo! Yeah! Whoo! Whoo! All right, all right, let's be careful.
Watch his head, guys.
Easy.
Put him down easy.
I didn't mean it.
He's my kid brother.
You're his brother? Yeah.
He's gonna be all right, isn't he? What the hell was he doing out there without a life vest? If you're his older brother, you're supposed to be looking out for him.
I know it was stupid.
On two one, two.
Easy.
All right, look, why don't you go with your brother? I'll have your boat taken back to our docks in the marina.
Thanks.
I don't know what to say.
Just take care of him.
Hey, don't cry, Eddie.
I'll take care of you always.
Promise, Bobby? Yeah, I promise.
I'm your big brother.
I'm your big brother.
Big brother big brother Don't go away, Bobby.
Don't go away, Bobby.
Bobby Bobby, wobby, hobby, nobby, Bobby Stop it.
Stop talking like that! The inch of the curve lets you see the praying mantis, Eddie.
Stop it! Eddie, look! Look! Stop it! Stop! You're scaring me.
Okay, Bobby, time to go.
Eddie? Eddie? What's the matter? I, uh I didn't know you had a brother.
Half brother.
Yep.
Yeah, he he was everything to me.
He was my big brother my father, my mother my hero.
He, uh, he drew these.
How old was he? Well, he, uh, he drew that one last month.
I don't understand.
I thought he was your "big" brother.
He is.
See, when he was 18, um he started changing and started saying things that made no sense to anybody but himself.
And our foster parents couldn't handle it, so they they put him away.
What do you mean? The doctors said that he had a disease.
Schizophrenia.
And anyway, it just kept getting worse and worse and So, I, uh I had him brought out from Philly because well, I wanted to be close to him.
I haven't seen him for a long time, and I want to.
I need to.
I really I need him.
Would you, would you come with me? Of course I will.
All right! Don't eat them all, you guys.
All right, we'll save one for you.
Come in the water with me.
What about the pizza? Forget the pizza.
Come on.
Back, you animals! This is a private party.
Deb? Debbie! Oh, my God! Shark! Shark! I couldn't save her.
I couldn't save her! Debbie! Ben.
What have you got? This fits the description of the suit Debbie Kent was wearing.
Mitch, I remember the last shark attack on this beach eight years ago.
Yeah.
Me, too.
A great white attacked a surfer.
No one went in the water for two years after that.
Well, nicknaming the beach Shark's Cove didn't help it any.
Started a panic.
This might start another one.
And I got to go to San Diego this afternoon.
You're gonna have to handle this.
Sure will, Mitch.
Told you it's a beautiful spot, huh? I really looked into this place, Shauni.
Bobby lives here with everybody.
They all help out around the ranch.
It's it's perfect.
Eddie.
Dr.
Lester.
Nice to see you again.
You, too.
This is my girlfriend, Shauni McLain.
- Nice to meet you.
- It's a pleasure meeting you.
You've caught me working with the horses.
Excuse me.
Sure.
He loves the animals.
Eddie, we have to put Bobby on a new medication.
Why? His speech and thoughts are still very disorganized.
However, now he has some moments when he's extremely lucid.
Well, that's good, isn't it? Yes.
But he's been very depressed.
However, this morning, when I told him that you were coming over, he got very excited, and he started painting more pictures of you on the beach.
Bobby loves the beach.
Eddie, I know we've spoken about this before, but I think that now would be a good time for Bobby to spend a few days with you.
I don't know, doc.
Just for a weekend.
Why not? It's easy for you to say.
Yeah, why not? Okay.
Bobby.
Eddie.
Eddie! Eddie! Hey! Oh, man, I have missed you.
Yeah, I missed you, too! I missed you, too.
If you put me down, I got a little surprise for you.
Are we gonna walk with the cowardly lion? Maybe.
Maybe, but first, how would you like to come home with me this weekend? To the beach? To the beach.
Yeah! Yeah! And we can get some we can get some snow maybe and angle ourselves with the moon? Why not? Yeah, yeah! You see, sometimes Bobby speaks in word salads.
His thoughts get confused and disorganized.
You see, schizophrenia is not split personality.
It is splitting from the real world.
He sees things and hears things that are not real to us.
I got somebody I want you to meet, okay? Okay.
Come on.
Shauni this is Bobby.
Hi, Bobby.
Wow! She's pretty.
Bobby? Bobby, we've got to get your things together.
We'll be right back.
You're doing the right thing.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, bro, bro, bro Slow down, bud.
We got to change our clothes.
How come? Because we can't go to the beach dressed like this.
See you later, huh? Have fun, Bobby.
Come on.
Shauni, I need to borrow your car.
Where is your car? It's in the body shop.
Again? Yeah, well, I kind of keep it there, you know? I just bring it out for accidents.
Not! Oh, come on.
Oh, be careful.
I will.
Thanks.
Really careful.
I will.
Hey.
So, you're off to San Diego? Yeah.
The county wants to work out a combined training program.
Shauni, I'm gonna need you to help Ben.
There was a shark attack last night.
Where? Shark's Cove.
A bunch of kids were having a party.
And one of the girls went into the water with her boyfriend and was attacked.
Oh, my God.
Debbie.
Where is she? What hospital was she taken to? Uh, Shauni her body wasn't recovered.
Well, then how can you be sure it was her? Her boyfriend saw what happened.
I'll get somebody else to help Ben.
No.
Um I'm going to find out what happened.
Sure you're all right? Hey, Bobby.
I'm going to close up early, so let's get going, huh? He's my brother.
He's a lifeguard.
Is he? He is, too! You take it back.
Huh? She didn't say anything.
She did so! She said I wasn't your brother.
It's just a misunderstanding.
Come on, let's go.
I don't like that.
I know you heard voices, but those girls didn't say anything.
I hear the voices a lot, Eddie.
I don't like what they say.
They say, they say, they say they say you're not my brother.
Well, I am your brother.
Nothing will ever change that.
But you used to need me.
I was your big brother.
Now I will always need you.
No, because Jack in the Beanstalk might eat Peter Rabbit before the kidney beans open up and slide off the curb to play golf.
Listen, Bobby, I'm going to go check out.
I'll be right back, though.
You wait here, all right? Okay.
Oh, hey, hey, listen.
Why don't you come back to the boat with me What's the matter? Mitch just told me that Debbie Kent was attacked by a shark last night.
What? Is she okay? They think she's dead.
Oh, no.
They haven't found the body yet.
Baby, I'm sorry.
I have to go out there, Eddie.
I have to see what I can find.
Shauni, they have people that can do that.
No.
I have to do this myself.
I "need" to do this myself.
Fine.
I'm going with you.
No.
You stay with Bobby.
I'll just have Harvey meet me at the "Scarab.
" You sure? It will be okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
Bobby? Bobby! Bobby! Bobby! Bobby! Hey, Bobby! Heinz, I need to use your truck.
No problem, but you check it in.
Fine.
This is Kramer.
Be on the lookout for a white male, 29, brown hair uh wearing black shorts Hawaiian shirt.
His name is Bobby.
He's my brother.
Hold on to me, baby.
Jill! Hurry! Jill! Look out! Right behind you! Hurry! Jill! Jill, hurry! Hurry! Hurry! Jill! Look out, Jill! Look out! Jill! Jill! No! Shauni.
Shauni, there have been boats out here all morning.
No sign of sharks.
I think we should head back pretty soon.
What is it? I don't know.
It's hooked on the bottom of the buoy.
Hand me a knife; I'm going in.
So? What is it? It's a piece of a weight belt.
Okay, let's move down! Move down! No, get out my way! Let's move! Okay, playtime's over! Playtime's over! Come on! Because I'm a lifeguard, and I said so.
Come on! Yeah! Dogs and people! Everybody out, please! There are no dogs here, man! Okay! There are no dogs.
I guess in Chimichanga Mesa there was a massive explosion in the ovaries, and you damn well better know that Mr.
Ed knows who shot Liberty Valance but I don't know.
Oh, yeah.
Nice.
It's a very good day.
Lifeguard! Lifeguard, I can't find my son! He was standing right next to me, and then he was just gone! Maybe grasshoppers are on operating tables and Mom ran away with the tin man.
What? Oh, please, sir, he's only six years old.
He's got dark brown hair.
He's wearing a yellow t-shirt.
The points meet and there are too many hamburgers.
What? The points meet and there are just too many hamburgers.
What are you saying? Mom! Oh oh, Steven! No, it's not true.
It's not true.
You almost ready, Judy? Yeah.
I'm ready to roll.
All right.
Hi, Mr.
Kent.
Hi.
Mr.
Kent.
Shauni.
What are you doing here? I wanted to, uh clean out Debbie's locker.
I could have done that for you.
No, I-I had to do it.
After all, I'm the reason she spent so much time here, right? Mr.
Kent, Debbie loved swimming.
She loved you.
I just never gave her a chance to be herself.
I was always pushing her so hard.
Now she'll never know how much I loved her.
Mr.
Kent, wait! Hi.
It's okay.
Watch out.
Get your bike.
Shauni.
Hey, Zach.
Nice spot you found here.
How you doing? All right.
You know, after what happened to Deb, I didn't feel like being around anyone.
I wanted to hear it from you.
What did happen to Debbie? Uh I grabbed for her hand, but it pulled her under.
There was blood everywhere.
I looked for her, but she never surfaced again.
Not that night.
What do you mean? We, um, found her body this morning.
What was left of it, anyway.
Are you sure it's her? Well, maybe you could come down and identify the body.
No, I don't think I can.
Why not, Zach? Because you know it won't be her? Because you know that Debbie was not killed by a shark? I mean, that is why you didn't invite me and Eddie to your little beach party, right? A couple of lifeguards could ruin your plan.
Look, this is crazy.
No, I will tell you what's crazy.
Debbie closing out an $8,000 bank account the same afternoon as your beach party.
I found her passbook.
I also found a piece of a weight belt hung on a buoy in Shark's Cove.
You staged this whole thing, didn't you? No.
Where are you going? Aren't you going to invite me in, Zach? No.
Zach.
It's all right.
It was all just too much.
The pressure everything.
I was desperate, Shauni.
And the only time I feel alive is when I'm with Zach, and my dad wouldn't even give him a chance.
But to fake your own death I hated my life the way he was making me live it.
Now I can start over.
By leaving everyone who loves you behind to grieve thinking you're dead? I was with your father this morning.
He knows he was wrong to push you so hard.
He loves you, Debbie.
He's devastated.
You have to go back and tell him the truth.
How could I ever face him now? Are you kidding me? As soon as he sees you're alive, he's gonna be ecstatic.
I mean, he may kill you himself a minute later, but This whole thing was so stupid, wasn't it? Yeah.
I mean, most people just run away or something.
Thanks.
Yeah.
Hi, there.
Yo, Spiderman.
Hey, fisherman.
Hey, man.
Huh? Yeah Eddie got me this.
He did.
Hello, guys.
Why don't you wait up? I'll play football with you, if you want.
I can throw pretty good.
Yeah, okay.
No, it's okay.
Okay, come on.
Come on, buck! Come on! We'll surf a little bit, have some French toast.
Go down here, and then we'll go back home.
Yeah.
Oh, boy.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's me! It's me.
Kramer here.
Give me backup on Santa Monica Pier.
Ah Hey, get down! Stop that! You're going to get hurt! Yeah, you can get hurt! Come on, stop that.
Get down! Okay.
Okay, don't jump! Don't jump.
I'll help.
Here.
Go ahead, take it.
Take it! Eddie! He jumped in.
Go get him! Bobby! It's okay, Bobby.
I got you.
Just relax.
I got you.
Come on.
It's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay It's okay.
I'm sorry! It's all right.
Oh don't worry.
You're safe now.
It's okay.
You're safe.
You're safe.
Oh it's all right.
It's okay.
It's okay.
Shauni, what is this about? I wanted a chance to talk to you alone.
Will you sit down, please? Daddy.
Oh, my God.
Daddy, I'm sorry.
You're alive.
Just hold me, please.
Oh, I love you.
I love you so much.
He's a beautiful horse, Bobby.
Yeah, he's not half bad, for a peacock.
Come on.
Come on.
Listen, I'm going to be visiting you a lot, and, when Dr.
Lester says it's okay, you can come visit me again, okay? I don't think I'll be able to take care of you anymore, Eddie.
I know I I know I promised I'd always be your big brother And you kept that promise.
You "are" my big brother, Bobby.
Nothing will ever change that.
We'll see you later, Bobby.
Take care of my little brother, Shauni.
I will.
Don't you worry.
Dr.
Lester, thank you.
You're welcome.
She kissed me.
See you, Eddie! Bye! That's my brother.
Shh!
