[LOUISE] Previously on Big Shot…
I hope you brought your dancing shoes,
'cause we got ourselves a tournament.
[EMMA] Dad. Can we talk for a second?
Tip-off is in a few minutes,
and I'm down a starter.
What if I play?
[MARVYN] Say hello to your new starter.
[SIRENS] Emma! Emma! Emma! Emma! Emma!
[MARVYN] Wait a minute, you go here?
You go to this school?
Yeah. I'm new.
I'm Kate. Just moved from Australia.
Maybe I can be on the team next year.
What are you doing next week?
This is Nurse Evans calling.
If you'd like to see Mr. Waterson,
I recommend coming immediately.

Well, what are you doing here?
You must really, really trust
your assistant coach.

She's smart. She's aggressive.

May I help you?
Marvyn, you're home earl
Hey, Holly.
[CROWD CHEERING, CHATTERING]
Ladies and gentlemen welcome
to ESPN's very special broadcast
of the Southern California
girls basketball championship
between the powerhouse
Playa Verde Dolphins
and the upstart Westbrook Sirens.
I'm Stan Verrett.
Now tonight's game is
no ordinary championship.
A devastating wildfire cost
these teams their season,
but this tournament has given them
a second chance.
And while we're on second chances,
there will be a familiar face
on the sideline tonight.
As Westbrook is coached
by none other than
former NCAA National Champ Marvyn Korn.
Yes, that Marvyn Korn.
Now in the women's game
and one win away from another ring.
We'll find out tonight
if Coach Korn still has the magic touch.
But his new look Sirens have
their work cut out for them.
Buckle up, folks.
This one promises to be a classic.

You know, we look damn good!
Yeah, we do. I told you
those bake sales would pay off.
[AVA CHUCKLES]
[PEOPLE CHATTERING]
What's going on over there?
They look like a college team.
That's some dirty recruiting.
Yeah,
I thought high school had an age limit.
Right, just don't let
them intimidate you.
Don't let the ESPN
cameras intimidate you.
This is our night. All right?
Go warm up. Let's go!
Right.
[POP MUSIC PLAYING ON PA]
Coach, good luck tonight.
Ah, thanks, Coach. How you doin'?
You got your work cut out for you.
Playa Verde looks tough.
Hey, I didn't know you
were gonna be here.
Of course I'm here.
If you're here, I'm here.
- You gonna win tonight, Coach?
- Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- Of course he is.
- Okay.
- Well, we'll find some seats, I guess.
- Okay.
Good luck.
Oh, I cannot believe that I'm coaching
against the legendary Marvyn Korn.
Yeah.
The first game that I That I
ever saw was you against Michigan,
and I told you that
I wanted to follow in your footsteps.
You signed an
autograph for me that said,
"I'll see you on the court one day."
And here we are.
Look at that. I'm clairvoyant.
- Yes. That's classic Korn right there.
- Thank you.
I've watched every game
that you've coached.
I've studied your
every move, your plays.
And the one thing that I've learned,
more than anything is
you wanna look at yourself at the end of
the day in the mirror
and be able to say,
"I won."
No, that's not [STAMMERS]
No matter how many refs
you have to humiliate,
no matter how many chairs
you have to throw
You're busting my balls, right?
Is that what's happening here?
Now here I am. On the precipice of
humiliating you on national television.
[POP MUSIC ENDS]
Do what?
They say that, uh, in order
for the apprentice to become the master,
he has to defeat the master.
So I'm afraid I have to strike you down.
Are we in a video game or something?
What are you talking about, man?
Good luck.
What was that about?
I created a monster.
- Hey.
- Hey.
You looking for Aunt Angel?
She's over there by the concessions.
No, I know.
I was just looking for someone else.
[TREVOR] Your birth dad?
I DMed him to invite him to the game.
Probably shouldn't be too shocked
when he no-shows, but I just thought
Hey, that's that's huge.

Is a really big step

I mean, that's that takes courage.

you invited hot Mark to the game.
That took guts.

He invited himself. It was so awkward.

Okay, okay. I hear you. I hear you. I

Well, it's more like a task,
'cause you're gonna do it.
So I need you to be the keynote speaker
at graduation this year.
What? No, no, I'm not doing that.
I just lost an important championship
in front of millions of people.
I'm not really in the

Shake it off, Marvyn.

that Ms. Thomas could become

Samantha. Here we are.

Oh, my gosh, guys.
Why did I think I could do this?
I don't know how to be a peer counselor.
I mean, you just, like, listen,

Come on. You'll be able to help students
more than anyone.
You've gone through
all your anxiety stuff already.
Yeah, but it doesn't just go away.

I have anxiety about why I made these

Okay, Samantha, you're the one
that wanted to start this group.
Stop second-guessing everything.

[REPORTER, ON TV] The world mourns the
loss of legendary Coach Bert Waterson,
who passed earlier this week.
He is best remembered

and folksy press conference charm.
Well, offensively, we were a mess.
On D, we were busier than a
one-eyed cat looking at two mouse holes.
[REPORTER] But Waterson is
best remembered for his innovation
in the area of players' rights.
He championed practice limits,
as well as universities
providing food and
academic support
for struggling students.
Wow, I didn't know he did all that.
That's quite a legacy.

Hey, I I made an offer on a place.
