Black Scorpion (2001) s01e22 Episode Script

Zodiak Attack - Part 2

- [Narrator] Last time on Black Scorpion.
- Zodiac Attack will become
just that and attack.
The four super villains will murder
the city's most famous Scorpio.
- Oh my god.
- It will be a black day
for her indeed.
- I gotta go.
(dramatic music)
- I've been waiting for
you, Black Scorpion.
- You were expecting me?
- Let's just say you're
getting predictable.
- So this is a trap.
- More like a reunion
with some old friends.
I knew that if I predicted your murder,
you'd come after me,
looking for a way to change your fate.
But doing so, you've sealed it.
There's no escape, Black Scorpion.
Your fate is written in the stars.
Destroy her.
(groaning)
(eerie music)
- Fire.
(dramatic music)
- [Narrator] In the light of day,
Darcy Walker is a cop.
But in the dark of night,
she becomes Black Scorpion.
Doing with a mask what
she can't do with a badge.
(dramatic music)
(laughs)
- Looks like I knocked
the wind out of her.
- [Breathtaker] She's short
on breath, thanks to me.
- You, ha!
I'm the one that shook her up.
- But I'm the one that makes her sweat.
(scattered yelling)
- You fools, she's getting away.
(beeping)
- [Guard] All building
security report to Stage C.
- [Announcer] Super villains
causing havoc at channel eight.
All units in the vicinity,
please report immediately.
(groaning)
- Celeste, I see a vision of doom.
- Me too, isn't it great?
- I'm talking about our doom.
My powers of perception tell me
that the police are on the way.
(groaning)
- [Policeman] Freeze!
Hands in the air.
- Wow.
You're really starting to get
the hang of this psychic thing.
(gunshots)
- Let us be gone.
- I'm right behind you.
(gunshots)
- What's going on?
- I don't know.
(dramatic music)
- Freeze!
Where are the super villains?
- Back there, with four
uniforms who need help.
- Well from the sound of
it, help's on the way.
Which means you'd better get out of here.
- You're not arresting me?
- You sound disappointed.
- Confused.
- As much as I hate to admit it,
you're our only chance of
stopping these super villains.
- But I can't stop them.
- No, not with every cop and their brother
trying to arrest you.
That's why I'm letting you go.
So when all this blows over,
I'm coming after you,
harder than I ever did before.
(sirens blaring)
(groaning)
(shattering)
(gunshots)
(coughing)
- That was the scene last night
as the super villains used a
smoke screen to escape police.
Also caught on tape was Black Scorpion
shown here running for cover
in an apparent effort to save herself.
Leaving the rest of us to wonder,
is she a superhero or a super coward?
- [Henry] Super coward,
just like I've always said.
- The Black Scorpion was not running away
from the super villains.
She was running away from us.
Isn't that right, Darce?
- How would I know?
- [Steve] Because.
You're the one who's always telling me
how heroic Black Scorpion is.
- Maybe she got scared.
- Black Scorpion does not get scared.
Believe you me, when this
whole thing blows over,
she's gonna be the only
one remaining standing.
- Why don't you put your
money where your mouth is?
- 100 bucks says that Prophet's
predictions never come true.
- You're on.
- I want some of that action.
- Hold it.
I got 200 bucks that says
she's going down hard.
- I'll cover that.
How about you, Darce?
You want to lay a little
wager on Black Scorpion?
Make some money?
- No.
- What do you mean, no?
No, you don't want to make any money?
- No, I don't want to
bet on Black Scorpion.
(eerie music)
I can't do it anymore, Argyle.
For the first time,
I'm afraid of dying.
- Is that why you ran away?
- Superheroes call it escaping.
- Well you can call it whoever you want,
but the bottom line is,
you've got to stop Professor Prophet
and expose him for the
flim-flam man that he is.
- But the only way to stop the predictions
is to stop the super villains.
- So, you've done it before.
- Yeah, individually.
But they've teamed up.
I don't stand a chance.
Facing them would be suicide.
I don't think I can do it.
- I thought scorpions always
did what they had to do.
- No, that was just some
stupid bedtime story
Lieutenant used to read to me.
- Some stupid bedtime story.
You based your whole life on it, Blue.
So did your old man.
- Yeah and it got him killed.
And I'm not gonna end up like that.
(eerie music)
(gunshots)
(eerie music)
- Let's rip her from limb to limb.
(laughing)
- [Breathtaker] And I thought
I had trouble breathing.
- Poor little thing.
Must've had a bad nightmare.
(rumbling)
(laughing)
- The nightmare is just beginning.
(groaning)
(panting)
- Hey, where's Darce?
- [Slugger] She's not coming in today.
- It's just as well she's not here.
She's been acting a
little bit funky lately.
- Rafferty.
Darcy quit the force.
- What?
- She turned in her badge
and her gun this morning.
(eerie music)
- That's it, my celestial soldiers.
Replenish yourselves for battle.
- And who are we battling?
- The Black Scorpion, of course.
- But she's in hiding.
- That's why we're gonna flush her out.
- [Breathtaker] Flush, how?
- By turning our Zodiac Attack
toward the one thing she cares about most.
- Which is?
- The City of Angels.
Tonight, the four of you
are going to topple it
like a house of cards.
(laughing)
(knocking)
- Darcy.
- I had a feeling you
might be stopping by.
- Yeah, I was talking to Strickland and,
what, what, what is this outfit?
- It's a Tender Loving original.
I picked it up this afternoon at her shop.
Do you like it?
- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's, the clothes are,
listen.
Strickland told me that
you quit the force.
- I did.
Why don't you take this coat off?
- [Steve] No.
Is it because of Black Scorpion?
- Black Scorpion?
- Yeah.
Look, I know how much you admire her
and I know that everybody's questioning
her courage now and I wondered
if you questioned yours.
- No.
I didn't quit because of Black Scorpion.
I quit because of you.
- Excuse me?
- I've been thinking about what you said
and how our jobs keep us from
spending any time together.
So that's not gonna be a problem anymore.
Now I have time for you.
Time for us.
- No, no, no, Darce.
Are you sure this is the right time?
- Oh, this is definitely the right time.
(soft music)
- This is Don MacDonald with
an Action Eight news special report.
- So does Professor Prophet think
that polyester will be
back in style next season?
- Tender Loving, hang up the phone.
- Not until I find out what
people are gonna be wearing.
- Look, they're gonna be wearing body bags
if you don't give me the phone.
(beeping)
- [Darcy Voiceover] This is Darcy.
At the tone, leave me a message.
- Yo, True Blue.
If you there, turn to channel eight.
It's bad.
- No, Darce, Darce.
- We've just received word that Inferno,
Aftershock, Hurricane, and the Breathtaker
have launched an all out
assault on Angel Center.
- Oh my god.
- We now take you there live.
- [Darcy] Steve, no.
- Yes, it's my job, Darce.
Look, look.
I'll come back as soon as I can.
I promise, okay?
Okay?
(soft music)
(laughing)
- [Aftershock] Watch out.
(cheering)
(screaming)
(laughing)
(screaming)
(sirens blaring)
- [Inferno] Looks like
it's time for you boys
to get a new car.
(screaming)
(intense music)
Yeah, come on.
Come on and get me.
(laughing)
(screaming)
(sirens blaring)
(screams)
(sirens blaring)
(laughing)
(sirens blaring)
- Get down, get down!
Freeze!
- It's the heat.
- No!
I'm the heat.
(screaming)
(cheers)
I just love a pair roast.
- I could've done better.
(cheering)
- Yeah, baby.
(cheering)
Yeah come on, come on, come get you.
I feel the heat.
I feel the heat tonight.
Come to daddy.
(cheering)
Let's burn this sucker down.
Where are they going?
It's a party.
(eerie music)
- [Announcer] As the mounting
destruction continues,
reports are coming in that
emergency rooms of surrounding
hospitals are overflowing,
and fire departments
from surrounding counties
have been called in.
And with the super
villains running rampant
and the police stretched to the limits,
one question remains.
Where is Black Scorpion?
(cheering)
(sirens blaring)
- Any luck?
- Yeah, all of it bad.
Our bullets are having no
effect on these super creeps.
(cheering)
- Because of Inferno's heat wave,
the bullets melt before they
have a chance to connect.
- What do you suppose we
do about it, super cop?
- [Inferno] Everybody, come back.
- We draw Inferno's fire.
We distract him long enough.
That way, we can take out the others.
- What do you mean by we?
- Yeah, we are not into that plan.
- [Slugger] And what
exactly is the we plan?
- We rush them.
They can't take us all out at once.
- They could take enough of us.
- Okay, fine.
I'll do it myself.
You jokers just make
sure you cover my butt.
- Yeah yeah yeah, I like that plan.
We'll stay right behind the car.
Go get them, tiger.
(cheering)
- Yeah, come on, come on.
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire.
(screaming)
- Hey Inferno, I'm a music lover too.
Although I prefer splish-splash.
(laughs)
(groaning)
(laughs)
- [Breathtaker] The hits
just keep on coming.
(humming)
(coughing)
- Here's a golden oldie sure to make you
shake, rattle, and roll.
(laughing)
(scattered chatting)
- Whose car this is?
- Did that hurt?
(scattered chatting)
(groans)
- Black Scorpion.
Where are you?
(sirens blaring)
(intense music)
(scattered chatting)
- Were you scared?
- A statement of some sort.
(scattered chatting)
- Run!
Run, save yourselves!
(laughing)
- [Black Scorpion] Detective
Rafferty, get in the car.
(laughing)
- Thank God you're here.
(tires squealing)
What the?
- [Black Scorpion] Don't
worry, you're safe.
- Oh yeah, safe.
I'm real safe in a car without a driver.
- Its motion detectors
monitor the flow of traffic
while heat sensors track
the movement of pedestrians.
(sirens blaring)
- What's that red dot?
- Well, my guess, it would be the police.
(sirens blaring)
- Hey.
Hey, they're shooting at me.
- Now you know how I feel.
- What, do they think I'm you?
- Well, you are in the Scorpion Mobile.
- Can't you make this thing go any faster?
- Hold on.
(sirens blaring)
- Okay, okay, okay.
Can we slow down just a little bit?
(sirens blaring)
Oh great, great.
Now there's two of them.
- See if we can bring them
a little closer together.
Computer, release magnets.
(sirens blaring)
(tires squealing)
You know, that's the second
time tonight I've saved you.
- Yeah, yeah.
Just one thing I don't understand.
- What?
- How come you didn't come yourself?
- I think this is where you get out.
(groans)
Auto revert.
(eerie music)
Don't look at me like that.
- Hey, Detective Good Looking.
(cheers)
The fearsome foursome did a job on you.
- Listen Argyle, it's
been a really long night.
- Look, lover boy.
I want you to talk to True Blue.
Get her to be her old self again.
- No.
I've tried talking to her.
I feel like she's hiding
something from me.
Besides, you've known her for years.
Why don't you try talking to her?
- She won't listen to me.
The girl's hard headed.
- I wish her father was around.
- What?
- He's the reason she became a cop.
If anyone could get through to her,
it would've been him.
- Right.
I bet he could help us.
- Yeah, if only he was alive.
- If only.
(dog barking)
(eerie music)
Hello?
Is anybody here?
Yo, Dr. Phoenix?
Doctor is in, all right.
Let's see what I can do
about getting him out.
(coughing)
- How can I ever thank you?
- I am so glad you asked.
I want you to regenerate something for me.
- You want me to regenerate your hair?
- No, the person it came from.
But we'll talk about my hair later.
I've been bald too long.
I want to grow it out, like a Jheri curl.
(mumbles)
- Come with me.
- You like Jheri curls?
(beeping)
This gonna work, Doc?
- I don't know.
I've only grown clones from fresh DNA
and this hair is what, two years old?
It may not be viable anymore.
And even if it is,
I cannot guarantee that
the clone will live
longer than 24 hours.
- 24 hours is long enough.
(eerie music)
Oh, you're good.
You are real good.
- Something's happening.
It's working.
(knocking)
- [Argyle] True Blue.
True Blue, wake up.
- Argyle, go away.
I don't want to see anyone.
- But there's someone
here who wants to see you.
- Who wants to see me
at eight in the morning?
- Hello, Officer Daughter.
- Lieutenant.
Oh my god.
(soft music)
- I've been meaning to ask you.
Did you ever open that birthday present?
The ring I gave you.
- Well yeah, I opened it.
Two years ago.
- To me, it seems like yesterday.
So, how come you're not wearing it?
- I don't know.
Used to wear it all the time but--
- But what?
- I don't know, I just haven't felt
like wearing it lately.
Did you see this?
- Oh.
Medal for bravery.
- I saved the city when I got your killer.
- My killer.
God, that sounds so strange.
I don't remember dying.
Last thing I remember is
us arguing about something.
- I remember.
- What was that?
- We were fighting about
what it meant to be a cop.
- Oh yeah.
- I thought it was about
following the rules.
You thought it was about
following your heart.
- I still do.
- Yeah well I happen
to agree with you now,
but the problem is,
my heart's not in it anymore.
- That why you quit the force?
- How'd you know I quit?
- Argyle filled me in.
- What else did he say?
- Well, he told me about Black Scorpion.
- I was afraid of that.
- Why?
Because you thought I wouldn't approve
of a civilian taking the
law into her own hands?
I got news for you, Darcy.
Whoever this Black Scorpion is,
is a very brave lady.
The one thing this city has
always needed was a hero.
Someone willing to die for what's right.
- Like you were?
- Well, I wouldn't say that I'm a hero.
- You're not.
- What?
- Being a hero isn't about going out
in a blaze of glory.
It's about living a quiet life.
Taking care of your family.
I'm not like you.
I don't want to be here and I don't
want to go out in a blaze of glory.
(eerie music)
- No, no, no.
- Do you want to see my
constellations?
- Yes.
I'm not going to fall for you again.
- You wanna bet?
- Nice work, Celeste.
Now tie the good doctor up.
- What are you gonna do?
- Send a message.
Now hear this, you burned out, overblown,
washed up, ground down
excuses for super villains.
Failure to destroy the Black Scorpion
has caused me much pain.
But not as much pain as
I'm going to cause you.
(groaning)
Now find Black Scorpion.
I don't care how you do it.
Split up if you have to.
But find her and kill her.
(groans)
- You can't take shelter from my storm.
(laughs)
- [Breathtaker] I'm not going to hold
my breath waiting for you.
(screams)
(intense music)
(laughing)
(coughing)
(shattering)
- The city is under siege.
Inferno, Aftershock,
Hurricane, and the Breathtaker
have split up in an attempt
to flush the Black Scorpion out of hiding.
So far, however, there is no sign of her.
Leaving the City of
Angels to fend for itself.
- What about us?
We're here to protect and serve.
- I think that's what
everybody's afraid of, Captain.
- Well, I know what the
Black Scorpion's afraid of.
Those super villains.
- Want to pay up now, Rafferty?
- No.
No, Slugger.
I want to double our bet.
- Hey, fine by me.
- Me too.
- Me three.
I can't believe you think Black Scorpion's
gonna save the city.
- Somebody has to.
- Lieutenant, I'm sorry.
- Don't be.
It's good to know we can
pick up where we left off.
- I don't wanna fight anymore.
- Glad to hear it,
because I'm going after them.
- What?
- I told you, this city needs a hero.
- Why does it have to be you?
- Maybe it's not, maybe it's you.
- Me?
- I could use a partner.
- I can't.
- And I can't just sit
back and do nothing.
- They'll kill you.
- [Stan] Yeah, well it
won't be the first time.
- I'm serious.
- So am I.
The last time I died, you became a hero.
I'm willing to die again
if that's what it takes.
(eerie music)
(mumbling)
- Thank God, Lieutenant.
- Who did this to you?
- Professor Prophet.
- Who?
- He's controlling the super villains.
Now, each of the criminals
has a pain impulse chip in his brain,
that when working properly,
stops them from committing
any violent or criminal act.
- So how come it's not working?
- Prophet short circuited the auto mode
and reset the system on manual.
He controls the super
villains with that lever.
- This lever, huh?
(groaning)
All right you maniacs, listen up.
From now on, I'm the one giving orders.
And my first order is for the four of you
to haul your butts back
to the Phoenix Institute.
And if there's a single spark,
tremor, splash, or fume along the way,
I won't be responsible for what happens.
(groaning)
Then again, maybe I will.
(laughs)
(groaning)
- You're bringing them back here?
- That's right.
- Well maybe I should call the police.
- Nah, don't bother.
- Why not?
- It's not my style.
What you can do is call my daughter.
Let her know her old man
is trying to be a hero.
- Of course.
But do you mind if I
do it from a payphone?
- Yeah, take off.
- I don't want
to be here when the--
- That's all right, take off.
- Thank you.
Goodbye or, perhaps I should say,
good luck.
- The super villains have
ended their reign of terror,
at least temporarily.
Inferno, Aftershock, Hurricane,
and the Breathtaker are following
their paths of destruction
back through the city.
But where they are headed
is anybody's guess.
- The Phoenix Institute.
- What?
- Someone there's giving the
super villains new orders.
- But who?
- That, my dear, is what
we're going to find out.
(ringing)
- Hello?
- [Phineas] Detective Walker.
- Yes?
- This is Dr. Phoenix.
I have a message from your father.
- [Darcy] Is he all right?
- Yes, but he won't be for long
unless he gets some help.
- What are you talking about?
- [Phineas] The super villains.
They're on their way
back to the Institute.
- What about the police?
- You're the only one
he wanted me to call.
I don't know why.
- I do.
(intense music)
Activate auto transform.
(intense music)
(groaning)
- The gang's all here.
All right.
Everyone, back into his
or her reanimation tube.
Now!
(groaning)
- Turn it off, I said turn it off.
- He's a cop.
- A dead cop.
- Only a coward would
shoot me in the back.
- You overestimate me, Lieutenant.
I'm so much of a coward,
I'm not even going to kill you myself.
I'm gonna let them do it for me.
(groaning)
- Four against one.
Now is that fair?
- You're about to find out.
Get her.
(groaning)
- [Stan] Excuse me.
(groaning)
- Professor, are you all right?
- Stop him.
(groaning)
- No!
God, no!
(screams)
- Time to take the Black
Scorpion by the tail.
(laughing)
- [Breathtaker] It's no use
fighting, Black Scorpion.
- You're right.
Before you kill me, I
have just one question.
Which super villain's gonna take credit
for killing the Black Scorpion?
- I am.
- I am.
(scattered yelling)
- What are you talking about?
Enough of this.
I'm the one that's gonna finish you off.
- [Breathtaker] Why should
you get to kill her?
I'm her oldest enemy.
- [Inferno] But I'm the greatest.
- You can't hold up a candle next to mine.
- [Inferno] Oh yeah?
(groaning)
(eerie music)
- I knew you'd come.
- Why did you have to do this?
- It's like the scorpion said to the frog.
It's my nature.
- Mine too.
- You're your father's daughter.
- I'm gonna go call for an ambulance.
- It won't do any good.
- [Darcy] Don't think
it's as bad as it feels.
In fact, you're not
losing that much blood.
- I'm out of time, Darcy.
- So I'm losing you again?
- At least we got to
say goodbye this time.
- No.
No, you can't die.
Daddy, please.
- I've never
been so proud of you.
- No!
(sobbing)
- Okay boys, you can pay me now.
- Make sure I get clean towels.
You're killing me.
- I used to like you.
- Well, I love you.
(humming)
See, Darce?
I told you.
You should've laid your
bet on the Black Scorpion.
You'd be a very rich woman right now.
- Yeah well, I'm gonna stick to Solitaire.
- What kind of cards are these?
- These are Professor
Prophet's tarot cards.
Feeling lucky?
- Hmm.
- I'll read your fortune.
Pick one.
(humming)
Good choice.
Lovers.
- Ah.
Us?
- I don't know, what do you think?
- I don't know.
You're the fortune teller.
- Well, I think it's like
Professor Prophet says.
- Hmm?
- Future's what we make of it.
- Walker, Rafferty.
I've got an assignment for you.
Well?
What are you waiting for?
- Well, are you ready?
- If you are.

(dramatic music)
