Crisis (2013) s01e06 Episode Script

Here He Comes

Previously on Crisis: We know that CIA Director Widener is a close friend.
How do you know me? We know everything.
About all of you.
To save your daughter's life, what will you do? Hey! What are you gonna do with these soldiers? Ask your partner's sister.
Let me come to you, we can talk.
You have those soldiers.
That's what you want.
The project went bad.
I had to keep my company clean of it.
Jonas was connected to it, so I severed that relationship.
Does your husband know you were screwing him? I tracked him down.
I shouldn't have pushed you.
It's better I know the truth, right? This one here is not good enough for you to even look at.
That you're not good enough.
He will kill you, Ian.
He will kill you.
Dunn, look at this.
These are those two soldiers.
These are the two guys who are gonna kill innocent people in D.
C.
So is Gibson the hostage, or the kidnapper? There's a downed power line up ahead.
Gonna hold you fellas up here just a minute.
Day five of the Ballard School kidnapping.
Three students have been released, and now there are unconfirmed reports that the death of a Ballard parent by the CIA was kidnapping-related.
Keep the IVs going.
We hold them here for a day, then we take 'em to Gibson when we know we're clear.
We won't be able to get a signal out, but the CIA won't be able to see under the power lines.
I'll take first watch.
You good? If you call being in the middle of nowhere in a metal box with two black ops soldiers the CIA is desperately trying to find good I'm great.
All right.
You're on speaker.
I'm here with Legal.
Just so it's official and none of us go to jail, we will do this once for the record.
State your names.
Agent Marcus Finley.
Agent Susan Dunn.
Now, after I sign off on this, we will begin an operation to lure a kidnapper or kidnappers out of hiding, using information seized last night in a raid on the residence of Jonas Clarenbach.
And what's the nature of this information? Files having to do with the Central Intelligence Agency.
We know the kidnappers are fixated on the CIA and we have reason to believe they will come for these files.
And have those CIA files been processed yet? Not yet.
My agents understand that those files may contain information that we don't necessarily know the meaning of.
And you're willing to expose these unvetted files to the kidnappers? A dummy file would tip off the kidnapper.
If he comes for it and get spooked, he never goes back to where he came from.
We need to set the trap, follow him back to the kids.
And how will he know the file is in your possession? There's a drain on the Ballard School surveillance cameras.
Untraceable, but we believe the kidnapper has been monitoring our daily parent meetings there.
Sir? Are we a go? Do it.
What's up? Go on, I'll catch up.
Beth Ann, do you trust me? I know you don't trust anybody, but do you want to trust me? Yeah.
Yeah, I d I do.
I'm gonna get us all out of here.
What? How? I'm gonna set this place on fire.
You all right? I'm fine.
Something to do with that text you got? No.
Okay.
Get ready; they're almost all here.
No, it's simple.
When I want to see you, I'll post a review on the message board.
Same when you want to see me.
Look out, a guard is coming.
Okay.
He's gone.
After you start the fire, then what? Smoke.
I smash a window, let the smoke out.
Maybe someone out in the world sees it and calls 911.
Maybe it'll get you beaten up like Jin Liao.
Maybe it'll get us all killed.
I get that you're scared.
It's okay.
But I'm doing this whether you help me or not.
The FBI's back at Ballard, briefing the parents.
This is gonna be rough.
Yeah, with no information, it's gonna be hard not to think the worst about their kids.
Maybe we should just tell them.
Tell them what? That we think one of their own might be involved.
The file we took from Clarenbach needs to be processed first.
We need to figure out what Gibson has to do with those soldiers.
How long before the techs get through processing that file? What? I didn't exactly turn it in yet.
I still have it.
In your possession? In my apartment.
Just hear me out.
Okay, once that file goes in for processing, it's in the system.
Once it's in the system, the CIA knows we have it.
They're only gonna get in our way.
12 hours.
We work that file, just the two of us, for 12 hours, and then we turn it over.
Let's get this done first.
Excuse me! Would everyone please take their seats.
Open a line for me.
Koz.
I need you to leave those soldiers immediately.
We have a higher priority now.
It's not that I can't do it, it's that this is an extra that was not previously discussed.
I'm acting on new information.
I'll tell you what, why don't you give me the last four digits of that Swiss bank account so I can do more than just look at my money? Ha.
That's for later.
But for now, I can offer you something better.
Yeah? What? One of the Feds is the man who killed your brother.
This time, you can kill him.
You guys almost finished? Packed away, ready to go.
Here are your keys.
- Good luck.
- Thank you.
All equipment is in place and operational.
We're good? - We're good.
- We're up.
Get out of there.
Don't stop.
Get out of there! The kidnapper's people could be there any second.
- What can I do for you, Meg? - You can get my daughter back.
How, exactly, am I going to do that? By telling me how I'm involved in the kidnapping.
What have you been doing? I just have to watch the news to see that it has something to do with the CIA.
So you tell me how I'm connected to Amber being taken.
You don't want to know that.
Let me be the judge of what I don't want to know.
If it compromises me, I'd have thought that would make you glad.
These soldiers were part of an advanced training protocol.
They were given a drug to help them survive brutal conditions.
An unexpected side effect is that it repressed emotions empathy.
Those soldiers knew what they were doing, they just didn't care.
I ordered that drug, Meg.
Your company made it.
This massacre brought to you by Porter Pearce.
So the kidnapping is payback for that? The kidnapping is collateral damage.
I want the name of the kidnapper.
Maybe I don't know.
Don't screw with me, Gabe.
You're under attack, you know your enemy.
I'm supposed to just give it to you, or are we going to do business here? I have something you want.
I bet there are people living nearby and they don't even know we're here.
They're fighting about walking their dog or who put the empty box of cereal back in the cabinet.
Ian, if we were still out there, you would've told me already.
You used to tell me everything.
What do you want to know? Why'd you try and attack that guard? What happened in that room with you and Amber? What happened? I found out what I am.
You're high, aren't you? You gonna tell me to stop? No.
But do those pills really make you feel better? Not feel better.
Just feel less.
You remember when you asked me if I wanted to run away with you? Feels like a hundred years ago.
If we got out of here tomorrow, would you still want to go? I don't know.
Yeah, see? That's the thing, Beth Ann.
Kyle and your dad thing's got better in here for you.
Not for me.
What's up with you? You give us a minute? You've been half here all day.
We're on an operation, and you stop in the middle of it like you forgot what you're doing.
I need to know if your head's in the game.
It's my problem, not yours.
We're partners! It's my problem! Because that's what partners do? It's an option you might want to explore.
Texts from unknown caller two hours ago.
"I know you're Amber's mother.
" Four minutes ago: "You're going to help me.
" If this is the kidnapper Then I'm just another parent they want to use on a mission.
You text back? Yeah.
No answer.
This operation, we still go? And if they ask me to do something in the middle? What if they do? What if they ask you to do something today? You choose your job or your daughter? I don't know.
Come on, Dunn.
She's your daughter.
- What do you do? - I don't know.
I I don't know what a mother would do.
I've never been one.
I've never even been an aunt.
Finley, if I said I'd know how I'd feel when I got that call it'd be a lie.
But we can't cancel this mission.
You know, it's the best shot at finding those kids, so I'm gonna step off.
No, you do not do that.
We go.
We go.
But we trace these texts.
What are you doing? We put this text trace through the system and the FBI finds out you lied, you're gone from the Bureau.
So again, what are you doing? There's more than one system we can run this on.
I know a guy.
You know a guy? I was a cop here.
That's one of the kidnappers.
He was one of the fake state troopers at the abduction.
We're live, people.
This is it! Target moving.
Images received.
It's running behind us.
Start your decryptions, please.
There's nothing here to decrypt.
This doesn't seem to be a CIA file at all.
This just ties you and Clarenbach to those soldiers.
No, this isn't a case file.
This is evidence.
Jonas is collecting evidence.
I guess he's not on board with Widener's little horror show.
Jonas wants to be a whistle-blower.
What are you hiding, Jonas? And where are you hiding it? Here.
What's this here? Looks like blood chemistry charts for the two soldiers.
Got about 15-20 pages of it.
Jonas is a chemist.
That's how a chemist writes code.
Run decryptions on that.
A map.
How long will it take to lock down? Could be half an hour, maybe an hour.
Send someone to find me when you know what it's a map of.
He's finished with the file, Finley.
You better get back here.
Bogey contact.
I don't see anything yet.
Working on it.
The tracker's infrared, so we won't see anything until we patch into HQ's feed.
Hold on.
The drone has it, sir.
Stay back.
Leave him lots of space.
Let him lead us to the kids.
You look new to D.
C.
, sir.
Let me recommend a program for you.
Anything on Clarenbach yet? No, nothing yet.
Keep listening.
Keep listening? There's a lot of moving pieces here, Gabe.
You don't expect them all to stay lined up, do ya? - It's your job to keep 'em lined up.
- Indeed, it is.
But it'd be an awful lot easier if you'd stop shaking the board.
Just keep listening.
Target heading inside the gas station.
We have a visual on the exits, sir.
All units maintain position.
You okay? Definitely not okay.
A friend is going to try and escape.
Who? I can't tell you.
Beth Ann, look at me.
You need to trust someone.
Kyle Devore.
The president's son? I didn't know you were friends.
We are.
We-We weren't, but we are now.
What do I do, Dad? He's going to get himself killed.
And he thinks that he needs to be a leader like his dad.
And then he trusted me not to say anything, and Sometimes you need to save people from themselves.
How? Every situation requires a different and very specific answer.
Just try to understand your friend, what he really needs and find a way to give it to him.
The kid's smart to trust you, Beth Ann.
You'll figure it out.
It's funny.
What? A week ago you wouldn't have come to me with this.
We're going to get her.
It's a good plan.
We just follow this guy right back to where she is.
Wait a minute.
He went inside to pay.
Why would you go inside when you know everybody's looking for you? These guys can hack into the CIA.
They can't steal a credit card to pay at the pump? Why gas up at all? You pull off a kidnapping like this, you're smart enough to gas up first.
Target is traveling again.
Repeat: target is traveling.
We follow him or we check out that gas station.
Target is in motion.
All units go now.
Target is approaching destination.
Badge Team One, take your position.
Sir, screen five, we've ID'd vehicles used at the kidnapping.
- Who is that kid? I want an ID now.
- Checking.
Hold on.
Got it.
That's Taylor Bennet, positive ID.
Repeat: we have a positive ID on a hostage.
Empty.
Dunn.
They found the kids.
Team Two, you're go for approach.
Four minutes till he's back.
Ready? No.
What the hell? It's soaking wet.
Did you do this? HRT in position, sir.
HRT is go.
- Sir? - What? It's Corban Bennet.
- Who? - Taylor Bennet's father.
His watch team just called.
He's missing.
How long? At least two hours.
What the hell is going on? Move! Get the extinguisher! Who's responsible for this? These are mannequins, sir.
Repeat: mannequins.
FBI took the bait.
They hit the decoy mansion.
Koz is in the clear.
Strip his hat and glasses! No, don't shoot! Don't shoot! It-it's my dad! ID confirmed, sir.
That's Corban Bennet.
HRT, is anyone else at location? Negative.
Who did this?! Pick a kid at random.
You! No, don't hit her! It was me.
Kyle! Okay, shut it down.
Punishment will begin at 6:00 a.
m.
tomorrow.
All right, everybody back to your bunks! Punishment begins tomorrow morning at 6:00 a.
m.
Move! It was an interesting plan.
He didn't think it through.
He should've started three fires.
Split us up.
That would've worked.
The map has finished decrypting.
There it is.
Get me Koz again.
Koz, I have your destination.
Go find out what Jonas has been hiding.
Dunn.
We got played.
The man we followed into the mansion was one of the hostage's father, Corban Bennet, dressed in the kidnapper's clothes.
It was a parent mission.
They got changed here at the gas station.
We were right.
Recognize that? Car got fixed in a hurry.
Sir, we got him.
Do not lose him! Trace came back from those texts.
Number belongs to a Joel Shearing.
Who is he? He's not the kidnapper.
You sure? He's Amber's biological father.
What is your heading? Sir? Sir! Dunn? He's jamming us.
If it's coming from his car, we drop back and get a call out, we lose him.
Or we stay close and go in with no backup.
We do not lose him.
No, we do not lose him.
No, it's simple.
When I want to see you, I'll post a review on the message board.
The same when you want to see me.
You can't show me that.
People died, Meg, because of something I made.
Jonas, stop talking or I'll be subpoenaed.
Something you paid for.
Jonas.
You understand what has to happen now, right? Who are they? My FBI escorts.
Because of the kidnapping.
I don't hear from you for a year and a half, and three days ago, I start getting messages.
I'm glad you responded.
I think we both know my response to you is a conditioned reflex.
You look like I remember.
Even in this tragedy.
How do I look, Meg? I imagine I have the face I deserve.
You threw me away.
I'd outlived my usefulness, and you threw me away.
I would've left my wife for you.
I would've left it all for you! Let me go, Jonas.
You taste like I remember.
I always liked this house.
What inspired you to start looking for me, Meg? I saw a photograph of you at the Pakistani embassy.
In an FBI file on the kidnapping.
We can repair it.
The damage we've done.
I know what to do.
- We work together and we -Jonas.
I risked my life coming here! Let me tell you what happened, and we can repair the damage.
I know what happened, Jonas.
I know.
How could you know? Who told you? It was Widener.
Don't give me to him.
Please.
Meg! You got to listen to me.
Something big is happening.
There isn't anything bigger than my daughter, Jonas.
Sorry.
I'm sorry.
You're not her FBI escorts, are you? My men have Clarenbach.
I held up my end of the deal.
Now, you tell me who the kidnapper is.
Francis Gibson.
The man who took those children is Francis Gibson.
Gibson? He's a Ballard parent.
He doesn't seem capable.
What does he want? What is that? It's what Jonas was too afraid to keep at his house.
I'm running searches on the people in those photos.
- They're all - They're all dead? Yeah.
How'd you know? I'm guessing none by natural causes.
Accidents, suspicious circumstances, unsolved homicides.
Boss, who are those people? Hey, Secret Service! Remember me?! You remember my brother?! His brother? I guess I must have killed him.
Too bad about what happened to your brother.
If only someone taught him how to fight, maybe he'd still be here! Finley we need him alive.
Tell me how he fought.
Come on! Come on! Let me hear it! How did my brother fight, Secret Service? Huh?! Did he hit like this? Hit like that?! Where are the kids?! You tell me or I drop you down! You're gonna stop right there.
Why would I do that? Well there's a kid in the trunk of a car and he's just waiting for you to rescue him.
So I get around the building, and I'll text you where he is.
I got the death penalty coming, so aim higher! I hit that pavement down there, you get no kids.
I make it to the fire escape, you get one.
Your choice.
But I'm not coming back on this roof.
How do I know you're not messing with me? That's not what we do.
Finley! Finley! Where is he? Where'd he go, Finley? I lost him.
But it was worth it.
We lost her.
Target vehicle spotted.
We are approaching the vehicle.
We've matched the ticket to the vehicle.
Headquarters, we have a hostage.
It's a Ballard kid.
Kidnapper put a lot on the line to find this place.
Someone's been working in here.
Who are these people? Judge died last year.
Drowned in his pool.
Miami, Florida.
Reporter, died six months ago, home invasion.
No arrests.
Seattle, Washington.
Bank investigator.
Car wreck, Washington, D.
C.
Foreign Intelligence officer, fell from window.
Broken neck.
New York City.
Congressman, hotel fire, New Orleans.
Dunn, this one.
I know this one.
Human rights activist, gunned down in his home, but it wasn't just him.
He was shot with his family.
Men, women, children.
This is the one that started it.
This is when Widener realized what happens when those soldiers take that drug, what they will do.
This was the blood he put on me.
These are the people who were killed in that massacre video.
Dunn, what did that soldier tell us? We killed women and children.
Finley, these people, these deaths, these are assassinations.
Why would the kidnapper risk getting caught to come and see this? I wanted to create that program, and use those soldiers to defend this country.
It was extreme, but extreme measures were needed out there.
For those soldiers to use their bodies, their senses, their wills to defend this country out there.
Widener is using them here.
My program, my soldiers, and it wasn't just once.
It's still happening.
He's using them as his own personal hit squad.
What that soldier said before they took him.
He doesn't want to sleep because he dreams of the people he's gonna kill next.
The one's right here.
It's not finished.
What's up, Kyle? Still kidnapped.
You here to make sure I'm okay? No, I'm not.
I'm here to talk about what you did today.
Yeah? What about it? Well it was stupid.
It would have worked if I had trusted the right person.
No.
It wouldn't have worked.
I'm gonna ask you a question.
You need to think before answering.
Do you want to outsmart these guys? You want to get out of here? Yes.
You need a better plan, Kyle.
That's something I have experience in, something we can work on together, if you're serious.
No, it's simple.
When I want to see you, I post a review on the message board.
The same when you want to see me.
I want to see you now.
I guess I should turn over, eh? You ever going to tell me what Amber's father wants? Well, if he's the same as he was 17 years ago, he wants to drop off misery and pick up money.
Finley, what if we don't get the kids back? We won't stop looking.
This guy is better than us.
He's smarter than us.
If he wants to send a kid home in a bag, there's nothing we can do about it.
Cross that bridge if we come to it.
You don't want to be anywhere near me if that happens.
What's he doing, Finley? This guy with these kids? The CIA, the soldiers, those murders What is he doing? Come on.
Where? Let's ask him.
There's a hit squad out there.
We saw evidence of that today.
So did you.
They're killing innocent Americans.
Is that why you took those kids?
