CSI: Cyber (2015) s02e13 Episode Script

The Walking Dead

1 The dates of my trip have changed.
I'm arriving in Tokyo this Saturday, two days early, so I need to add two more nights.
The reservation is under Andrew Michaels.
Hello, are you there? Hello? Ah Get off me.
Don't touch me.
Come here, come here! Get off me, get off.
I know what you did.
Stop.
Hey! Hey, what are you doing? Let her go! Come here.
Hey! Hey! This isn't your business.
Get back in your car and drive away, old man.
I called 911, cops are gonna be here any minute.
This works out the best if you don't hurt her.
Come on, come on.
Yeah.
Are you okay? Other than always picking the wrong guy, yeah.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Oh, ow.
Okay all right, come on.
I'll give you a ride.
Come on.
I can just wait for the cops.
Well, no cell service.
Come on.
Here we go.
Yeah, let me clear that out, first.
Finally got Mangle to talk, huh? More accurately, got him to spit it out.
He slipped the microchip into his mouth when the agents arrived.
That's why he refused to speak.
And here I thought we'd finally found a black hat smart enough to shut up until his lawyer arrived.
Agent Avery Ryan.
Dr.
Avery Ryan? I no longer practice.
Who is this? Your husband is Andrew Michaels.
My ex-husband.
Who is this? You're listed as a primary beneficiary on Mr.
Michaels' life insurance policy.
His life insurance? Why would I Is Andrew all right? Oh, Dr.
Ryan, I-I'm so sorry.
I'm reaching out to you to pay off his life insurance.
You're his beneficiary.
Hello, Dr.
I don't know, they-they-they just called me.
They-they told me that he died, I-I don't even know how he died.
Come here, come here.
I'm sorry.
I'll make some phone calls to find out what I can.
Thanks.
You have reached the architectural firm of Michaels and Brochman Design.
If you know your Hey, it's Laura, leave a message.
Laura, this is Avery Ryan.
I-I just heard about your brother.
Hello, hello.
This is Deputy Director Avery Ryan.
No, no, no.
Please don't put me on hold! I don't even know what happened to him.
I'm his ex-wife.
Don't transfer me again.
I've been transferred 15 times! I tried to call his next-of-kin.
I'll call back.
Avery? Not right now, Nelson.
I'm sorry, I can't.
Okay.
Guys, let's get back to work.
She's gonna be all right, she's gonna be okay.
Avery? When you're ready, an agent will take you home.
I never stopped loving him.
I had this fantasy that we were gonna get back together, try again.
But now he's gone.
Hannah's gone.
I no longer practice psychiatry.
It's like that whole part of my life is just over.
I'm so sorry, but I want you to know, you're not alone.
A man claiming to be Andrew Michaels just called the FBI.
He's being held at customs at JFK Airport.
What? Hi.
Ah, for a dead man, you look pretty good.
Come here.
Can you excuse us for a second? Sure.
Are you okay? I should kill you.
That phone call, I didn't see it coming.
It really threw me.
Hey, what is going on? I don't know.
I didn't even know I was the walking dead until I tried to go through customs.
Where'd you get this passport, sir? I applied for it.
You're Andrew Michaels? Yes, is there a problem? Your passport's been canceled.
It says here, Andrew Michaels is dead.
Clearly, I'm alive.
I'm standing right in front of you.
Hmm? I used the same passport to get out of the-- Sir? Whoa, hold on.
Obviously, there's been a mistake made.
Hey, whoa, wait a minute.
I'm telling you--let go wait! Sir.
I threw a punch.
I know, it was stupid.
I just got off a 14 hour flight.
I'm tired, I'm cranky.
You know how I get when I get cranky.
Yeah, I do, yeah, hmm.
So what now? So, now, you're in my custody.
Well, you're in the FBI custody, till we figure out what's going on.
I'll take it.
I know this is gonna sound insane, but according to the state of Connecticut Andrew Michaels is officially deceased.
So the death certificate's real? Real as it gets.
Legally, Andrew, you can no longer vote, board an airplane, or obviously, try to re-enter the country.
It's incredibly unsettling to see this document with my name on it.
Yeah, it wasn't just your name.
That thing was filled out with a lot of personal information.
Date of birth, social security number, level of education.
This thing was not a glitch.
Somebody wanted you dead.
Can you think of any reason why someone would want to target you? No, not really, uh I mean, my life insurance policy's pretty big, but the only person to benefit from that is Well, I didn't kill him.
How does something like this happen? Somebody found a way to hack into the electronic death registration system, and based on what we've been finding, he's not the only victim.
So there's more? Yeah, a lot more.
We found over 200 digital murders, and we've just started looking.
I never even heard of digital murder.
Neither of I.
I think we're looking at a new hack here, Avery.
Is this some new spin on identity fraud? That's what I thought, too, but a stolen identity, you can recover.
Currently, there's no clear way to come back from the dead.
All right, Andrew, it's gonna be all right.
I promise, we'll figure it out.
You know, I'm gonna leave you guys.
The kids are working on your devices to find out if there was some kind of intrusion.
Thanks, D.
B.
Yeah.
We found a backdoor on Andrew's laptop.
Gave a black hat access to everything, including Andrew's personal information, and his credentials.
Anything we can trace back to a physical address? No, our hacker used a string of proxy servers to stay anonymous.
And we do know that he didn't install the backdoor remotely, he used a USB drive.
So somebody had physical access to Andrew's computer.
Well, I'm running the code from the hacker's backdoor through our known exploit database.
Black hats are just like everyone else, they get lazy.
They re-use old code constantly.
It saves time.
Got a hit.
We've seen part of this code before.
This was written by someone named Stella Kaine.
Stella Kaine? Yeah.
I busted her five years ago for hacking the East Cambridge University network and faking admission letters.
She's just a small-time hacker-for-hire.
Well, it looks like she stepped up her game.
So, let's go find Stella Kaine.
Slappin' like my subwoofer Slidin' up to your house Where your dogs at? Fat beats for the kitty from the other clap Hit up city, dancin' if you need the fat checks Lootin' liquor stores, I be flickin' match sticks Hit the town, flip the bird Bust a , make 'em swerve Bang, bang it to the curb Oh, word, we absurd Got that fire we can burn Bang, bang it to the curb Bang it to the curb Bang it, bang it to the curb Bang it to the curb Bang it, bang it to the curb Hit the town, flip the bird Bust a , make 'em swerve Bang, bang it to the curb My drink! No, no, no.
Thank you.
It's cool, I got it.
Stella Kaine.
Been a while.
What the hell is this? Invitation to my private after-party, come on.
Thank you for being such a gentleman.
You know, I twisted my ankle two weeks ago, and it's still really hurting.
Tragic.
So who'd you come here to hack? Hack? Come on.
We're not playing games, we found your USB stick.
Since when was it illegal to have one of those? Just confirmed, this is the exact USB stick that installed the backdoor on Andrew Michaels' computer.
You filed the death certificate, Stella.
Means bye-bye.
Enjoy prison.
Elijah, look at this.
Stella Kaine is a digital assassin for hire.
She's got dossiers on every person she's ever killed.
It's more than 75 people last year alone.
Issuing false death certificates, creating havoc, forcing people to prove they're alive, when a government document says they're not.
Yeah, D.
B.
was right, we've stumbled on an entirely new exploit.
Yeah, put it on the long list of hacks we're gonna have to play defense against in the future.
Yeah, well, the scariest part is that we are so far behind this hack, we have no idea how digital murder could play out in the real world.
CSI Cyber 2x13 The Walking Deadl I know you've deceived me, now here's a surprise I know that you have, 'cause there's magic in my eyes I can see for miles and miles I can see for miles and miles I can see for miles and miles And miles Oh, yeah.
@elderman Order.
Approach the bench.
Counselor, according to these death certificates, both your witnesses are dead and ineligible to testify.
Your Honor, that is ridiculous.
My two witnesses are standing right there.
You're looking at them.
What I'm looking at is a D.
A.
who's delayed this bail hearing twice.
Now you come into my courtroom without checking the legal status of your witnesses? Do you have any other evidence to present? Your Honor, this is a blatant stall.
Ms.
Shaw, I can no longer hold Rafael Pintero in custody, based on the evidence presented today.
Bail is granted.
Kyle Buckner.
Molly Vance.
Two key witnesses in my case against Rafael Pintero.
They were both murdered just hours after Pintero's release on bail.
Guy belongs in a cage.
I'd like to put him in a cage myself, but Violent Crimes would be the lead on this murder of federal witnesses.
I just came from a meeting with them, they have agents looking for Pintero now, and my third witness, Martin Ward.
When he heard about the murders, he fled.
I begged Martin to testify.
If Pintero finds him and kills him, it's on me.
Why come to Cyber? Because this was a cyber crime.
The only reason Pintero received bail was because someone hacked into the electronic death registration system and digitally killed my witnesses.
Oh, I guess we just found out how digital murder can be used in the real world.
Death certificates trump all other forms of identification, so even though my witnesses were standing in court, legally they weren't.
This black hat is responsible for putting Pintero back on the street.
And he could continue to digitally murder witnesses in trials all across the country.
Is it possible we already have the suspect in custody? We arrested Stella Kaine on a similar hack.
But Stella Kaine did not digitally kill the D.
A.
's witnesses.
How do we know that? Because she kept records of all the people that she murdered, and the witnesses aren't on the list.
I just double-checked the electronic death registration system.
Both witnesses' death certificates were submitted last night after we arrested Stella Kaine.
Which means our black hat is still out there.
We need to stop this hacker now, or Rafael Pintero will not be the last murderer released from custody.
I'd never file a death certificate for a federal witness.
You have my tablet; look for yourself.
We checked, we found nothing that connects you to the hack.
The question is, are you part of a collective? Like I'd partner with such a noob.
You think the person who did this is a beginner, why? On this document, under the “method of disposition,” it's marked “burial.
” The problem with that is, the box next to it says “address of cemetery.
” So someone decides to dig up a grave, but they don't find any body.
It brings the whole document into question.
Cremation's the only way to go.
I just realized what this is.
You need me to help you find this hacker.
Well, it's your lucky day, because I need immunity.
Keep dreaming.
We got you connected to the digital murders of 75 people, including the ex-husband of an FBI deputy director.
You're looking at unlawful intrusion, transmitting malicious code, conspiracy to defraud.
That's two years, minimum.
No immunity deal for me, and we'll all be walking away from this little powwow unhappy.
Well, let's be very clear about this, Stella, we will be unhappy at home.
You will be unhappy in an 8x10 jail cell.
And what about this black hat that you're chasing? He'll still be out there in the big, bad world, digitally murdering people and letting killers go free.
All right, cut the crap.
I will drop the conspiracy charge if you plead to the other counts and help us find this black hat.
Now let me counter your counter.
You will drop everything.
I will do no jail time and walk, or I won't say another word.
It's hard to believe that's the same woman.
She looks so different.
Stella socially engineers her victims.
She plays a different role for each mark.
For you, she was a damsel in distress.
That's how she hacked you.
Yeah, but how? Where was your laptop? In the car.
I put it in the backseat when I gave her a lift.
Let me clear that out first.
- Okay.
- Was she ever alone with it? Yeah, but only for the length of time it took me to walk around the car.
All she needed was to plug a drive into your laptop.
It bypassed your password protection.
and auto-installed a backdoor.
You know, there was a man with her, too.
He threw her to the ground and then sped off.
Probably hired him to play a role in her con.
Do you remember what his face looked like? No, I was more concerned with Stella.
She was pretty beat up, limping.
I guess all that was fake, too.
She was limping right now, so I think that was actually real.
Do you remember anything else about him? Might have been wearing a baseball cap.
I can't be sure, and I was kind of blinded by his headlights.
So you're going to give Stella a deal? We're looking at a hack that we've never seen before.
A hack that she's an expert in.
And while what she's been doing-- killing civilians-- it's bad, there's no question, the black hat that she's going to help us catch has been targeting federal witnesses and letting felons go free.
I get it, it's the lesser of two evils.
It doesn't make my situation any better.
I'm still dead.
Unfortunately, that's true, but we do know who hired her to kill you.
Dennis Booker.
We found a link for a wire transfer from his account to Stella's.
Oh, man, oh, man.
What is it? Do you know him? I'm getting married.
I'm sorry I didn't say anything sooner.
I picked up the phone a dozen times to tell you, I just didn't know how.
Are you marrying Dennis Booker? What? No, uh, my fiancé's name is Jessica.
Uh, formerly Jessica Booker.
Dennis is her ex-husband.
So the ex-husband is trying to disrupt your, your wedding.
He succeeded.
I just found out my application for the marriage license was rejected.
Dead men can't marry.
We'll sort this out, Andrew, just call your fiancé, reassure her that there's no reason to cancel your wedding.
Okay, let's do this, everybody.
Krumitz, pull up the death certificates of our two digitally dead witnesses.
Nelson, open the electronic death registration system home page, please.
Stella, you're up.
Let's go.
Time for you to earn this deal of yours.
Okay, well, consider this Digital Death 101.
It all starts when someone contacts your hacker and then hires them to commit murder.
Who would want to hire a digital killer? Many, many people.
Yeah, like a son who wants his dad's life insurance before the old man actually kicks the bucket.
Or an angry employee who's trying to turn their boss' life upside down.
All great examples, however, I don't care about the motive or the victims.
To me, it's just about that great big, $10,000 paycheck.
Is something funny? Whatever helps you sleep at night.
I sleep just fine, because I have my rules.
No kids, no cops, everyone else is fair game.
Ah, you're a real humanitarian, that's nice.
All right, all right, all right, let's go, come on.
Go on.
When your hacker gets paid, he opens up a blank death certificate for each victim.
Yeah, but you need an awful lot of personal information to ensure that that certificate of death passes as legit.
Information that would normally come from insurance companies and next of kin but our target is getting by hacking his victim's devices.
The most important part of that form is “Cause of Death.
” Trick is to avoid any CODs that are going to trigger an investigation.
Right, so no accidents or drugs or violence.
That's why all the people on your list died of natural causes.
Exactly.
You tailor the natural cause of death to the victim.
Age, lifestyle, that sort of thing.
You want to avoid an autopsy at all costs.
A heart attack works great, however, cancer's my favorite.
Hold on, though, the EDRS would have to confirm the credentials of any doctor who signed this form before circulating it throughout the system.
You'd think so, but not so much.
She's right, look at this.
All you need to create a doctor's account is get a medical license number and an address for your practice.
If your hacker's smart, he'll always be using new doctors to keep you off his scent.
That's what I would do.
Let me ask you something, there's one thing I still don't get.
I know you need your victim's personal information to fill out their death certificate, but there's so many different ways to remotely hack somebody, so why, why do you risk everything by doing it in person? It's more fun.
Wow.
Boy, when I was your age, I thought fun was throwing a baseball.
So if the target is following these steps, he's probably installing backdoors in the witnesses' devices.
Which means if we can find the hacker, we can use his backdoor to locate the third witness and bring him in before Pintero can kill him.
Exactly.
Stella Kaine, you're going to help us save a life today.
Agent Wilson will take you back and stay with you.
If you need anything at all, just call me, no matter what time.
You say that like I somehow forgot you never sleep.
Thanks, Avery.
Hey.
Where's he going? Going back to the hotel to get some rest.
This thing's been really tough on him.
He just told me that he's getting remarried.
Aw You know, when I first heard that he died, all that I wanted to do was to tell him how I felt, and then the next thing I know, he's standing in front of me and telling me about his wedding.
Wow.
Come on, that's it? Wow? This is when you're supposed to tell me some story about a princess in the 15th century who loses her duke to cholera, but how it all was okay.
Something that makes me smile, something uplifting.
Boy, I got nothing.
Sometimes it just sucks.
We found him! We found him.
He made a mistake and we found him.
Who? Our target.
He modified the routing table, so we sand-boxed the victim's device so we could watch Daniel, do we have a physical address? Yes.
Move, move, move.
Clear.
Clear! Clear.
It's all clear.
The landlord said the building was pretty much abandoned.
It looks like our target was squatting.
Yeah, and ditched the place after hacking the first two witnesses.
Getting nothing on the signal sniffer.
So it's a dead end.
Well, maybe not.
Look at these dead leaves.
What do you see? Uh, dead leaves? That's funny.
No, it I mean, the-the roots are outside the building, right, so the plants obviously should be getting enough water to survive, but when you look at this little circular area right here and the leaves are all dead It's just like this botany experiment I've been working on the past few weeks.
Trees all over the world in certain urban areas are mysteriously dying.
Nobody knows why, but I-I think I do.
See, I think there's a connection between Wi-Fi signals and plants decaying, and, uh, it's a long shot, but Elijah, have SWAT bring the battering ram back up here.
They're going to need it.
Well, that sure looks like a router to me.
Okay, I did a reverse DNS lookup and got an Internet traffic history off the router logs.
Yahoo, ESPN FriendAgenda-- it looks pretty ordinary.
Yeah, except for this.
East Cambridge University Web site.
I arrested Stella for hacking their admissions department.
Now, what's the likelihood that two black hats, offering the same Deep Web service, both have an affiliation to East Cambridge University? Stella Kaine knows more than she admitted.
It's time she tells us the truth.
Okay, no more games, Stella.
I know you're connected to the Pintero witness hack, I just want to know how.
I have nothing to do with that.
You've been through all of my devices, you know all my kills.
Well, if that's true, why don't you help me understand why this router, which was linked to the witness hack, also has a connection to your old admissions hack.
And I swear, if you're withholding from me, I can rip up that immunity deal right now.
Look, okay, I promise you, I have not been withholding anything.
I just had to be sure.
Because if you have found evidence of the admissions hack on this router, I do believe I know who we're looking for.
Well, then keep talking.
You're real cute when you get angry.
I feel like there's a connection between us.
Just think about it like this-- if I wasn't a black hat and you weren't a white hat, we could totally All right, all right, all right.
Enough.
Keep talking.
Okay, you're so boring, fine.
After college, I took a job at an accounting firm back in, in Madison.
It was so boring.
What was the name of the firm? Grant and Wallace.
The job was boring, so I spent most of my work hours on these IRC hacker channels.
And there was this one that was amazing, Lion's Archive.
That's where I met him.
At first, we just started talking about ideas and sharing hacks, and eventually we became partners, and that's how the whole Cambridge thing happened.
I don't know, when I arrested you for that, you never once mentioned a partner.
No, no, I didn't, because I believe there is honor amongst thieves.
Okay.
Come on, more.
More about the partner.
One of the ideas we were throwing around was how to digitally kill someone.
We were going to try it out on my miserable boss, Mr.
Wallace, but before I got the chance, you kicked down my door.
And when you got out of jail, you hung up the shingle, right? Of course.
Have you had any contact with your partner since then? I went looking for him once, but the forum had been shut down.
To be honest with you, I wasn't even mad about it because towards the end, he was talking crazy.
He was saying stuff like there's way more money to be made killing cops and freeing criminals, and I may be a bad person at times, but I do not do that.
What was his name, Stella? I only know his handle.
Four months ago, someone going by the handle Reaper32 posted this message in a black hat forum: “Need a law enforcement officer killed? Look no further.
” This guy's advertising killing cops.
All right, the forum's Webmaster let us behind the site code, and look at this.
Reaper sent them back a link.
Our target's Deep Web site.
He's marketing himself as a cyber hit man for criminals.
For a large fee, he'll digitally kill a cop chasing you, a lawyer trying you, or a witness testifying against you.
Right, because a dead cop can't pull a warrant or make an arrest.
A dead lawyer can't go to trial.
Do we know anything about where this site is hosted or who's hosting it? Negative.
The server IP address is bogus and Reaper doesn't reveal anything about himself.
I mean, the guy's careful.
So we're not actually any closer to catching him.
Well, let's try to use the site as it was intended, to hire him.
Nelson, will you click on the “How it works”? Yeah.
Okay, so it looks like Reaper makes you upload a video of yourself.
You give your name, the name of your intended victim, and an explanation for why you need them dead.
If he takes you on, he responds to your video message and arranges an in-person pick up of his fee.
Okay, now why would someone willingly send a video that incriminates themselves? Well, Reaper's clients are desperate.
They'll do anything to escape justice.
All right, so we send Reaper a video requesting he digitally kill some cop, hope he bites, and when he shows up to get paid, we grab him.
That's the idea.
Great.
I volunteer.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
It can't be you.
This video is his way of weeding out undercover agents.
We don't have to time to build you up a bulletproof cover.
Yeah, and we can't risk you dangling out there with a story full of holes.
I'll take my chances.
No, no, I agree with these two.
We have to assume that Reaper does his homework.
We can't use an agent.
We need a civilian.
A civilian, who believably wants to kill a cop.
Well, maybe not.
Maybe we just need somebody with an incredibly compelling true story and an offer that Reaper can't resist.
My name is Andrew Michaels.
Three days ago, I woke up dead.
I don't know if you killed me, or at this point, I don't even care.
I need my life back.
No one can fix this.
I'm-I'm out of my options, uh, I'm getting married in a month.
Was getting married.
Dead people can't get a marriage license.
The look on my fiancé's face when I told her.
I just I love her so much.
J-Jessica she's everything to me.
Everything.
I just want to marry her, so, please, I'll pay you $33,000.
That's what I have to offer.
Please.
Uh, what, what now? We wait.
I'm glad you found someone.
Sounds like you really love her.
I'm-I'm sorry.
It's-it's just the way it came out.
It was on my mind, and you You deserve to be happy.
I always thought I was going to be alone.
Then I met Jessica.
Andrew, I have to ask you about the life insurance.
Oh, why you're still my beneficiary.
It's been over ten years.
Uh, uh, you're going to think I'm crazy.
It wouldn't be the first time.
Uh Uh, okay, um, about six months after Hannah and us, I had a mild heart attack.
Mild.
Doctor said it was just too much stress and Scotch.
In recovery, I'm filling out the paperwork.
I find myself staring at the “in case of emergency” box.
It hits me I'm alone.
Whose name do I put down? It's supposed to be the person who comes to your rescue.
Makes you feel safe, who you l There was no one else, Avery.
Your name went on a lot of forms.
I put your name on a lot of my boxes, too.
But you know what? That's going to have to change when you get married.
I suppose so.
I So it worked? It looks like we're heading to Philly to catch a Reaper.
All right, everyone, listen up.
Our target could be anyone.
We have no photo, no real name, so keep your eyes open.
Here's your stuff, minus your devices.
Those will remain with the FBI as evidence, in case you decide to stray.
Don't worry, I will not be crossing the line again.
Well, we'll find that out, won't we? Stella, don't take this the wrong way, but I never want to see you again.
Okay.
We got a male approaching, early 20s, baseball cap.
Blond hair, green jacket.
Got my sights on him now.
He appears to be alone.
False alarm.
Just a pedestrian.
This gentleman will see you out.
Thank you.
I'd really like to tell your ex-husband that I'm sorry for everything.
I'll send the message along.
A male, dark-haired, beard, leather jacket and blue jeans, nine o'clock.
See him, doesn't look like he brought backup.
All right, we wait for confirmation.
This is our target.
All teams hold, I repeat, hold.
We go on my signal.
Andrew Michaels? You Reaper? Open the bag.
After college, I took a job at an accounting firm back in-in Madison.
What was the name of the firm? Grant and Wallace.
It's all here.
All $33,000.
Everything I own.
Just shut up and give it to me.
I need to know you're going to follow through.
I need my life back.
I guess you're not a religious man.
Resurrection takes faith.
That's it.
Go, go, go! In 48 hours you'll have your life back.
I took a job at an accounting firm back in Madison.
Go, go! Drop the weapon! We got him covered.
So I spent most of my work hours on these IRC hacker channels, and there was an amazing one called Lion's Archive.
That's where I met him.
Lion's Archive.
Stand back! Hold it.
If you have the shot, take it.
Drop your weapon! Stand back or I'll shoot! Put the gun down! Go, go, go.
Move, move, move.
Andrew, tell me that right hook has seen the inside of a boxing ring.
Nice to meet you, Reaper.
Reaper? You're under arrest.
I'm not Reaper, I just get the money.
What do you got, Krumitz? Did anyone show up to your sting? Yeah, we got Reaper.
Of course, he claims we got the wrong guy.
Let me see his face.
Stella Kaine.
It's been a while.
- He was in the club.
- Who? That guy you just arrested.
He was helping Stella.
I got it.
The DJ.
Her mark was the DJ.
Keyser Soze! Move.
Keyser Soze! Keyser Soze.
Hey, Daniel, why are you yelling? Keyser Soze! Daniel, what are you talking about? She Keyser Soze'd us.
S-Stella.
She's our black hat.
She's Reaper.
Elijah is in the field arresting Reaper as we speak.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Hey, hey, slow down, breathe, breathe.
Reaper was just here.
Stella is Reaper.
She's got two sites.
Two businesses.
The first is for killing civilians and the second is for killing law enforcement.
She's the digital killer that we're chasing.
That's why the third witness was never killed.
Because we stopped her before she could finish the job.
Well, then who just walked into Elijah's sting? Who'd he just arrest? Stella's lackey.
I called 911.
Stella had a guy with her the night she hacked Andrew.
I'll bet you, the same guy was at the club, along with the intended victim, which is the third witness.
But Stella was already in custody when the death certificates were filed.
You said so yourself.
Yeah, but Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
We found time-release software on her tablet.
I mean, not that suspicious by itself-- lots of hackers have it-- but it could have allowed Stella to automatically send in death certificates at any time.
Yes, Stella could have set a timer to submit the certificates the night before the witnesses testified, or her lackey sent them in.
This is Deputy Director Avery Ryan, Stop Stella Kaine, do not let her leave the building.
I'm sorry, Deputy Director, she's gone.
She's gone.
I want agents sweeping every inch of D.
C.
I've got to call DOJ.
Look, man, I'm sorry.
You were right.
We should have chipped Stella when we had the chance.
Guys, I have something to show you.
Come on.
Look.
She just swiped her credit card.
She's so desperate to get out of town, she's making mistakes.
The cocky ones always do.
All right, thank you so much.
Stella Kaine.
Hands in the air.
Go.
Stay back.
Wow, I'm impressed.
Guess what-- I figured it out.
You lied.
You're Reaper, which voids your immunity deal.
Stella Kaine, you're under arrest.
Okay, I'll probably get two years and be out in one for good behavior.
Not this time, Stella.
You're looking at 25 years to life.
What? That's ridiculous.
Your hack resulted in two real-world homicides.
You're looking at two counts of felony murder.
Mm, check that out.
Hey, you're forgetting to limp.
I got a text from Elijah.
Stella's lackey gave up Pintero's lawyer.
Elijah found Pintero hiding at the lawyer's house.
Looks like Stella's not the only one going to jail today.
Some days this is just so satisfying.
I love this job.
Well, I made some calls.
The state of Connecticut has officially started the process of bringing you back to life.
That's wonderful news.
It might take a while.
There's really no precedent for reversing a legally filed death certificate.
I'm sure it's incredibly complicated.
As far as Dennis Booker goes, someone might have called the, uh, local PD and Your fiancé's ex-husband won't be bothering you anymore.
I don't know what to say other than thank you.
Uh Uh, I love you still.
For whatever that's worth.
I love you still.
