Dallas (2012) s03e15 Episode Script

Brave New World

[Police radio chatter in Spanish.]
[Breathing shakily.]
Sue Ellen, no gun-toting terrorist has ever gotten the best of a Ewing yet.
It's not gonna start today.
Luckily, John Ross' heart is too small for a bullet to find it.
_ _ _ [Silenced gunshots.]
Hands! Let me see your hands! Clear.
Let me see your hands! Not so tough now, are you, huh?! You regret what you did to her now?! Huh?! John Ross! Give me the gun.
Come on.
The Mexican marines are on their way.
- [Gunshots.]
- [Grunts.]
Theme music plays [Cellphone rings.]
[Cellphone beeps.]
George: Go ahead.
I'll open it now.
[Cellphone beeps.]
Black ops team rescued John Ross at approximately 8:42 this evening.
He's unharmed.
- Oh, thank God! - Mexican marines are on the scene.
El Pozolero and Luis have been apprehended.
What about Nicolas? He's in custody, en route back to Dallas with John Ross.
And Ewing Global? You actually ran into some good fortune there.
Cartel was in the midst of selling off the divisions when the raid happened.
Their assets were frozen, and the 52% of Ewing Global that they owned was seized by the U.
S.
government.
So, we'll get our shares back? The Treasury department holds the title to those shares now, but they'll be auctioning them off soon.
The important thing is that this is over.
George.
Just so we're clear, I'm done working for you people.
I still intend to honor our deal, Harris.
I keep that tape recorder very handy.
Say the word, and I'll have her arrested for trafficking drugs with the Mendez-Ochoa cartel.
You'll never have to deal with your mother again.
[Sighs.]
It's time the Rylands try to learn how to coexist.
Peacefully.
But you send me back that recording as insurance.
'Cause you and I both know peace in this world is often short-lived.
[Chuckles lightly.]
[Brakes squeal, parking brake engages.]
That was so stupid, John Ross.
You could have been killed.
Way I see it, mama, after all the bad I've done, it's about time I do something on the side of right.
Bobby: John Ross.
I'm glad you're okay.
Well done, young man.
Thank you, John Ross.
Thank you.
Hey.
I tried to get you justice, Emma.
I want to apologize [Voice breaking.]
for all of the terrible things that I've done.
If I could take it all back, I would.
But I can't.
I'm sorry.
[Elevator bell dings.]
[Radio chatter.]
Can I have a minute? Just one.
I just wanted to make sure you're okay.
I would have gladly sacrificed myself if it made you believe I was telling the truth.
Please don't, Joaquin.
I've heard so many stories in the past couple of days, my head is spinning.
George: It's time to get started.
[Inhales deeply.]
Time for me to enlighten the authorities with 19 years of El Pozolero stories.
If I can explain it all to them, give me one last chance to explain it to you so your head can stop spinning.
When I'm done here tonight, have dinner with me, please the penthouse.
If you're not satisfied with my explanation, you never have to see me again I promise.
Okay.
You're gonna have dinner with him? Elena, I know you want to figure things out, but he is a bad guy.
He's just gonna try to fill your head with lies and manipulate you again.
I wish it were that simple, Christopher.
I made my own choices.
Where is Nicolas Treviño now? He's a traitor.
You should have let me kill that rat when I had the chance.
This is a setback we will endure, Luis.
May I remind you not all of my sons have fallen to the authorities.
The sons who remain in Mexico will hunt our enemies down.
Within the week, Nicolas Treviño will choke on a stew made from the flesh of his loved ones, as well as the Ewings who betrayed us.
[Footsteps approach.]
Well? Ann decided to take a well-deserved rest.
And I thought I'd go home and do the same.
Good.
Enjoy the peace while it lasts.
Really, Sue Ellen? In this family? Sue Ellen I spoke with Carlos Del Sol this morning.
[Doorbell rings.]
One second.
Mm.
Hi.
Tracey.
What's wrong? Come in.
Come in.
Thank you.
[Door closes.]
Sue Ellen.
How dare you show your face in this home after what your nephew did to my family and your father did to J.
R.
Sue Ellen.
Why don't we talk about my phone call with Carlos another time? [Door opens.]
Come on in.
Sit down.
[Sighs.]
Thank you for pulling Sue Ellen off me.
[Chuckles.]
Normally I think I could take her, but not today.
Well, if I recall, you knocked out a linebacker in the bar the first night I met you, so I think even on an off day, you could probably take her.
See? This is why I came here.
You always did make me feel better.
I keep thinking about Hunter.
You're the only one I thought would understand.
I knew my father had poisoned him against your family, and I just I should have done more to help him.
Hey, wait a minute.
Hunter made his own choices, plain and simple.
I feel like I'm reliving my brother's death over again with Hunter's, [voice breaking.]
And I do I don't know what to do.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Tracey, it's all right.
It's all right.
Ann: Bobby? Ann.
This is, uh, Tracey, Hunter McKay's aunt.
Tracey My wife, Ann.
Hello.
Hi.
Oh, it's it's really great to meet Bobby's latest wife.
[Chuckles nervously.]
[Birds chirping.]
[Sighs.]
Trust me when I tell you taking a walk down memory lane with your wife and your ex-girlfriend is not as fun as it sounds.
Miller Lite? Thank you, Doctor.
[Knock on door.]
Derrick.
Come in.
What's going on? The medical examiner he got new test results back from Drew's autopsy the samples they sent out that took a while to get back.
That's evidence they took off of Drew's boot.
There's residue from drilling wastewater on the sole, but no dirt from where they found him.
They think he was killed somewhere else and his body was moved.
They finally opened up a murder investigation.
I got to tell Elena about this.
[Elevator bell dings.]
Joaquin? Brought back everything we left at the lake house.
Reporter: Which began with a raid in Nuevo Laredo yesterday evening.
While more than 80 cartel members, including the elusive Pozolero, had been brought into Mexican custody, many cartel members remain at large.
[TV shuts off.]
Ugh! [Scoffs.]
[Beep.]
[Cellphone beeps.]
- _ - Son of a bitch.
[Dialing.]
[Ringing.]
[Ringing.]
Bum, what is it? You had me put a tracer in Elena's phone when you were looking for her.
She just turned it on at Museum Tower.
Thanks, Bum.
[Ringing.]
[Cellphone rings.]
Hello? You found your phone.
Yeah.
Nicolas had it.
Drew was murdered, Elena along with Hunter McKay.
I read a file from the sheriff's department.
They found wastewater on Drew's shoes same wastewater that the cartel uses to smuggle their cocaine.
Christopher, what are you saying? Are you saying the cartel murdered my brother? I'm telling you that Hunter's death and Drew's death are connected.
I'm on my way to you right now.
[Elevator bell dings.]
Elena? Are you still there? Elena, what's wrong? It's Nicolas.
He's here.
Elena? Elena! [Cork pops.]
You came.
[Jingling.]
I guess we can thank St.
Christopher for protecting you through all of this.
I told you I never take it off.
[Jingling.]
Me neither.
And neither did Drew.
But when they found him after he killed himself, he wasn't wearing it.
And his body had been moved! I wanted to spare you.
Oh My men were looking for Drew all that day.
Remember? When they found him, it was too late.
He had already set fire to Southfork and taken his own life.
I wanted to protect you and your mother from being complicit in that fire, Ellie.
So yes, my men moved him to protect you.
And I took the medal because suicide is a sin.
I was trying to save Drew's soul.
No! Drew found out about the deed switch from me.
He was going to expose the cartel's lies your lies.
You killed him! Can I help you? I'm going up to the penthouse Nicolas Treviño.
Mr.
Treviño asked not to be disturbed.
So how about we don't disturb him? [Breathing shakily.]
Listen to me.
I didn't kill Andres.
- He was my brother! - You liar! Don't do this.
Elena, you said it yourself you're not seeing straight.
If what you say is true and the police think Drew was murdered by the cartel, then it's not just me it's both of us.
We were in a conspiracy together to extort the Ewings.
That means we're implicated in what happened to Drew, too.
We could both go to jail.
You think I care about that? You killed my brother! You have to pay for what you did! We both have to pay! No.
I have resources, a plane.
I can get us out of Dallas.
Let me protect you.
[Gunshot.]
Come on.
Come on! Come with me, Ellie.
I didn't kill Drew.
I'll never tell anyone you did this.
- I'll be back for you.
- [Elevator bell dings.]
- Elena! - [Gunshot.]
[Voice breaking.]
What did I do? Elena? Oh, my God.
What did I do? I'll take care of it.
Okay? I'll take care of all of it.
Ann: Harris? I just came to tell you I was leaving.
How was your visit with Emma? She doing any better? A little.
She still won't talk about what happened after they let me go.
[Sighs.]
Well, I'm glad you're all right, Annie.
When Bobby brought you back out to Southfork the other day I wanted to hold you Tell you how relieved I was that you were safe.
But I couldn't.
I love you, Annie.
Oh, Harris Please let me speak.
Now, I know that everything that's happened between us is my fault, and I'm sorry, but I cannot help but feel the way I feel about you.
And I think you feel it, too.
When we kissed the night of the fire [Chuckles.]
Lord, it was undeniable.
Look, Harris I am glad we're in a better place, and I'm glad you've changed.
You're a better man than I thought you were.
But I'm married.
I love Bobby.
And I need to figure out how to make that work.
I'm sorry.
Nothing's gonna come of this.
[Footsteps depart.]
[Engine shuts off.]
Don't tell me you're one who doesn't like to look a gift horse in the mouth, John Ross.
Come sit by me.
Company of a young man always makes me feel better especially a man who's been brave, like you.
Go ahead.
Open it.
It's not a bomb.
It's a gesture to show how much I appreciate what you did for my Emma.
And the digital files are in the box.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way, Judith But I've been to enough rodeos to know that a gesture like this usually involves strings.
No strings, John Ross.
Just a favor and a request.
[Clears throat.]
I know something happened to Emma when she was held prisoner by those animals.
She won't talk to me about it, but I know.
I've seen the distant look that comes into the eyes of my girls at my establishment when they have been with violent and sadistic men.
I want you to be a friend to Emma.
Reach out to her, because I know she'll let you in.
What's the favor? Those black ops men you used in Mexico sometimes work for my son's CIA handler.
Yeah? So? I want you to find out everything Harris was up to with the CIA.
[Machinery whirring, indistinct talking.]
I asked the contractor if we could just repair the damage.
He said absolutely not have to take it right down to the foundation, start all over again.
Sometimes it's best to start fresh.
I'm willing to do that with us, Bobby if you are.
Mama had this card.
She had it in a frame.
Always kept it on her desk.
It said "my friend is not perfect, nor am I, but we suit each other admirably.
" Man: All clear! Hey.
I brought you your favorite What the hell? You think you can mess with my wife?! Your wife, John Ross? No.
I haven't been your wife since I downed a bottle of pills.
I'm getting the business, John Ross.
Nasir is giving me the loan to buy the shares from the Treasury.
The officer in charge of the auction, I'm seeing him tomorrow to make a preemptive bid.
You have no money, so you have no play.
You're out of the game.
The shares will be put in a trust far from your reach, John Ross.
Pamela will be in control of your company.
Everything I gave up for you, I'm getting back.
And this is only the beginning.
You're right.
You're right back to being that same whore my cousin married.
[Door slams.]
[Cellphone chimes.]
Bobby? _ [Elevator bell dings.]
[Sighs.]
That won't be necessary, Pamela.
[Chuckles nervously.]
I'm about to take control of this company, Bobby.
I can do what I please like change the name back to Barnes if I want to.
We're aware that you have a meeting with the Treasury department in a half an hour.
But the man you were supposed to meet has just left here.
We made a preemptive bid.
We bought the shares.
How the hell did you have the money for that? John Ross, Carlos Del Sol gave us a loan.
And when we explained to the man from Treasury the history of this company the fact that you and Pamela and cliff constantly vying for power he understood that your mother and I would be the best choice to purchase those shares.
I'm sorry, Pamela, but we couldn't let you take control.
We did this for peace in this family.
You know, you can rationalize this move as "peace" as much as you want, but you're doing to me exactly what J.
R.
tried to do to my father and what jock did to digger.
And you're starting another war.
At least they screwed you, too.
Well, I guess I should congratulate y'all on winning.
Even if it means robbing me of my birthright.
This wasn't about winning, John Ross.
Bobby and I thought that this was, uh, for your own good, just like you did for me with the psychiatric hold.
Well, forgive me if I don't thank you for the intervention.
[Elevator bell dings.]
[Elevator doors close.]
[Sighs.]
Music plays J.
R.
: John Ross, Bobby just signed the papers.
Welcome to big oil.
I'm proud of you, son.
Music plays [Sighs.]
[Dialing.]
Walter: Hello? Walter, please tell me you got something I can use with Judith.
I think I got exactly what you're looking for.
Music plays [Water dripping.]
[Footsteps approach.]
Who would have thought a game like this could calm my nerves as much as Percocet? I've done some soul-searching since we last spoke, Judith, and I've decided I'd like to try and help Emma.
I also brought you this.
You asked me to find out what your son was up to with the CIA.
Turns out my friend dug up a juicy little nugget that you and I would have never expected.
It's a little tape recording your son was gonna use as leverage.
Now, I could have used this against you, Judith, but I think I would much rather have you as an ally instead not just with Emma.
Oh.
You scratch my back and I scratch yours? I'm familiar.
Trust me.
You're gonna love this.
[Recorder beeps.]
Luis: Whoa, whoa, whoa.
We've already got a deal in place.
Judith: Well, that was with my son.
Every day your cocaine pipeline is shut down, it costs you millions.
Let's not quibble over crumbs.
[Door opens.]
[Sighs.]
How you doing? [Sighs.]
Like I said I've been better.
You sure you're gonna be okay, Emma? You ever known me to be otherwise? [Chuckles.]
Yeah, I guess the girl I've gotten to know was pretty messed up.
Well, takes one to know one.
Two of a kind.
[Sighs.]
Would you want to ever grab coffee with me? You know what they say about soldiers when they come back after battle.
Only buddies that have shared the same experience can understand each other.
Did you come to Mexico to save me, John Ross, or was there some other reason? We've lied to each other enough, Emma.
I know I've lied to you about almost everything, which is why I want to tell you the truth now.
I was very, very upset and pissed off when I heard you'd been kidnapped.
And I wish I could say that I was a hero for you, but I went to Mexico for business.
My father was compiling blackmail on J.
R.
when J.
R.
was murdered.
This arrived when my father was in jail.
I never showed you this because I wanted to have leverage over you.
But I think you need to take a look at this now.
No more games.
[Voice breaking.]
Thank you for saving me, John Ross.
Thank you, Emma.
_ [Sighs.]
[Recorder beeps.]
Judith: If you're listening to this, Harris, you know I figured out what you were planning to do to me.
I couldn't let you do it because I want us to turn over a new leaf just like the new leaf I've turned over with that dear John Ross, who made this tape possible.
P.
S.
I forgive you.
[Recorder beeps.]
I miss him.
Yeah.
Me too.
But I think I finally feel free of him.
Hell, I might even find love again.
You deserve that, Sue Ellen.
I agree.
I want you to be happy, mama.
I am so glad you came back, John Ross.
I just wanted to let you know that there are no hard feelings about what you did to me.
And I wanted to let you know that I'm sorry to hear that you had to resign as railroad commissioner to buy those shares.
[Sighs.]
Sad news, especially given all the environmental work you did with that lesser prairie chicken.
What are you up to, John Ross? See? Always suspicious of me, Uncle Bobby.
Guy could get a complex.
But, since you ask, I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the new railroad commissioner.
[Elevator bell dings.]
[Chuckles.]
You've got to be kidding.
It's no joke, Bobby.
The governor and I are old friends through some ladies he knows, and I've always had an eye toward public service.
So when John Ross mentioned that the position opened, well, I jumped on it.
Now those Ryland ships that I procured for Ewing Global to drill the Arctic, they can only enter and exit through ports of Texas ports that are regulated by the railroad commissioner.
So, if you want to make a play for that Grand Frontier, you're gonna have to deal with me.
She means "us.
" Well, you can partner with the devil all you want to, boy.
It won't make any difference.
I'll always see it coming.
In a lifetime, your daddy never got the best of me.
And he was twice the opponent you'll ever be.
You see, that's just it, Uncle Bobby.
The last few months, no matter how much my old man I try to be, everybody keeps telling me "you are just like your father.
" I've done some soul-searching, and I finally figured out the answer.
I am not just like my father.
I'm worse.
Music plays [Elevator bell dings.]
Music plays [Silenced gunshots.]
Music plays [Tires screech.]
I assume everything's taken care of.
All your enemies in México are with God now, señor.
Do you need me back in Dallas? No.
That loose end will be taken care of by the end of the day.
And what about Elena Ramos? You told me that she was your destiny.
She is.
I worked very hard to ensure we would be bonded in a way we've never been bonded before.
She might not come back tomorrow, but within eight or nine months is what I'm hoping.
[Knock on door.]
Elena? I was getting a little worried in the car.
[Coughing.]
Are you okay? Yeah, I'm fine.
Um with all the stress, I just got a little bit sick.
I'll be right out.
Okay.
I'll be in the car.
[Sighs.]
- [Beep.]
- _ [Gasps.]
[Car alarm chirps.]
Music plays [Breathing heavily.]
Christopher! Christopher!! [Shrieks.]
Christopher!! No!! Christopher! [Glass shatters.]
No!! [Cellphone rings.]
Hello, Bum.
John Ross, I'm looking at these papers you got from Emma.
I still can't believe it.
Well, I guess J.
R.
had secrets he couldn't even trust to you.
And he's still saving your ass, from the grave.
Now, what do you want me to do about it? I want you to find her, Bum.
I want you to find my sister.
[Cellphone beeps.]
[Sighs.]
Thank you, Daddy.
[Chuckling.]
