Dawson's Creek s04e06 Episode Script

Great Xpectations

Look, I know how overwhelming the college application thing can be.
But the way l got through it is to take it step by step.
Let's just step over to the college-bound reference section -and start pulling down books.
-Yeah.
-Hey, you know what might be fun? -What? Start focusing on schools that are in New York since it's your old home.
l don't know.
l just spent three years flushing the Big Apple out of my system.
Yeah, but haven't you recently decided you might wanna go back? As you're so fond of pointing out, l haven't recently decided anything.
Well, what about your rush to rejoin the gang at The Haunt? Has Drue been whispering in your ear? Well, actually we did have a little confab at the Yacht Club last week.
He told me all about your social set and how you spent all your time at The Haunt, dancing and drinking until the wee hours of the morning.
According to him, it was a nonstop ball of fun.
''According to him'' would be the key phrase.
He's the dark prince of revisionist history.
l found you.
Okay, l'm glad you're still here.
-Why, what's going on? -Oh, nothing much, actually.
lt's just-- Well, there's this one thing.
Something's been waiting at the house for you all day.
lt's not that important.
lt's just a letter from a know-nothing, nor'eastern school.
So, you know, you might wanna take a glance at it.
-lt's from someplace called Harvard.
-Oh, Harvard.
Oh, oh, my gosh.
Okay.
This is future in an envelope.
Oh, God.
Or not.
lf it was a yes, it would be bigger, right? l mean, this is a case where size really does matter, right? Well, l think that size only matters when you have a full view of the entire package, really.
So l have to open it in order to find out? Come on.
They'd be fools not to take you.
-They would, wouldn't they? -Will you open it? Okay.
'' Dear Miss McPhee, Harvard College is pleased to inform you that we've accepted your application for Early Action for the fall of 2001 -and we look forward to having you.
'' -Yes! You're in, you're in! You're in! -l'm in! -Congratulations.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
Hey, everybody, my sister just got into Harvard! Looking for something new and different? -May l suggest Morcheeba? -Morcheeba.
They're a little Herbie Hancock, a little Biz Markie and a touch of Poe, tossed in for good measure.
Several artists not currently represented in my CD collection.
You've at least heard of them? Oh, Dawson.
Thanks.
-Party invite? -No.
Not just a party.
A rave.
A rave in Capeside? l guess even suburban rhythm-impaired youths -need an outlet, right? -Sure.
Hey, it does a body good to just let loose once in a while.
Besides, raves aren't just an outlet for dancing.
They're sort of a declaration of independence.
Right there with the Boston Tea Party.
Hey, every generation has its rebel subculture experience and this is ours, you know? Our attempt to define who and what we are and make a statement about our lives.
Our statement is that we can keep tedium at bay -with glitter and techno-pop? -lt's called fun.
You need to come with me and check it out.
To a rave? Not really my scene.
l'd guess you haven't been to one, so how would you know? lnstinct, you know? l've never been two-stepping either.
But somehow, l know better than to run out -and buy a pair of cowboy boots.
-Well, two-stepping isn't all the rage with the nation's youth.
But if you were so inclined, l would love to intro you to something that-- ls completely foreign to everything l've ever known in my entire life.
Okay, consider it one of the terms and conditions of our new friend agreement.
You know, ''must challenge and expose other party to experiences he or she would otherwise not indulge in.
'' Does this agreement have a rain-check clause? -Yes.
Just this once.
-Okay.
And l promise l'll take you up on it if and when l'm ready for you to see how insufferably uncool l can be.
You don't give yourself enough credit.
l mean, at worst, you're just mildly uncool.
Thank you.
Will you at least give this disc a try? -Yeah.
Right now? -Come on.
Okay.
This town is sorely lacking in post meridiem activities.
We could always do a Bonnie and Clyde.
What, like, hit a bank and go on the lam? lt's a practical solution to two of our biggest problems, you know? -Money and boredom.
-Yeah.
That's good, actually.
We can get one of those big honking sedans.
l can get myself a fedora.
You can get yourself a Kodak box camera, and we just head out across the heartland.
Thumb our nose at authorities.
Stopping occasionally to take cute pictures of loving gangster couples and-- Do you wanna burn some time spinning some discs? No, not right now.
Come on.
My father gave that to me, the summer l got in.
And l've been saving it.
Hoping for this moment.
-You look perfect in it.
-Daddy, l'm not perfect.
Not by a long shot.
You know, Andie, wearing the crimson signifies excellence.
ln fact, l remember when the boys and l first got to the Yard-- You think this is excited? Wait till the course book arrives.
We'll see if some of the old warhorses are lecturing this fall.
-And then, there's a summer session-- -Dad.
All right, all right.
l'm getting ahead of myself.
lt's just-- This is the greatest moment of your life, Andie.
l have never been more proud of you than l am right now.
Well, just remember l want that same speech -when l get into clown college.
-Yeah.
All right, you have to excuse me.
l have a phone book full of calls to make to some of my fellow alum.
lt's a big sweater to fill, huh? You know, don't let him get to you.
Don't freak yourself out either.
l'm not freaked out.
l'm not anything.
ln a way, l wish l were.
You heard him.
This is supposed to be the greatest moment of my life.
You know? l mean, l should feel amazing or happy or something.
You're telling me you don't feel anything? No.
One big fat empty.
lt's probably just the medication.
lt keeps me from feeling the lows.
But a side effect is it keeps me from feeling the highs too.
But don't worry about me.
l'll be bouncing off the walls in a few days.
l totally forgot.
Speaking of bouncing off the walls l got this e-mail invite.
There's a rave tonight.
What better way to celebrate, right? You just got into Harvard.
l think you deserve a night of wild, reckless abandon.
What do you say? You've got mail.
Drue, one more time, and l'm gonna feel compelled to accidentally smash your fingers in the doorjamb.
Come on.
Think back to your halcyon heyday.
You were the über raver.
Your love for the scene was world-renowned.
Another part of my reputation l was really proud of.
You, my dear, are a pod person.
The Jen l once knew thrived on that reputation.
She personified fun.
That Jen is MlA.
CollegeSeeker.
net.
Oh, come on, Jen.
How bottom of the ninth is it? lt's coming back to me, l remember why my skin crawls -when you're around.
-Because l remind you of what you're missing.
Face it.
You need stimuli.
Too long without it and the little voices inside start to ask for it.
You've been here for a while.
And l bet your little voices are screaming.
Oh, by the by, that night l went back for the Ecstasy l gave you.
lt's a funny thing.
Both you and it were gone.
Now l know where you are-- You're such a bastard.
You know, it's not surprising to me that you wavered.
Here it is, fall quarter, senior year, and you still don't know what you wanna do in life, where you wanna go, who you wanna be.
lt'd be nice to escape those questions for a while, wouldn't it? l'm no longer 1 4 and naive.
lf you're gonna convince me to screw up my life again -you're gonna have to do better.
-Okay.
How's this? You're afraid that if you admit to yourself how much you loved feeling good you'd have to admit that you wanna feel that good again.
lf you're gonna take one, tonight's the perfect night.
'' Congratulations''? Did Publishers Clearing House stop by today? Dawson.
No.
l thought you were gonna be working tonight.
lt was a little slow.
They said they didn't need me.
Well, we're glad you're here because we have something to tell you.
Okay.
We have spent a lot of time thinking about this and despite all the logical reasons why we shouldn't our hearts say that we should have this baby.
l'm so happy for you.
This is amazing.
-Yeah.
This is really how you feel? -Yes.
Absolutely.
Completely.
But.
Wow.
-Yeah.
Wow.
-Wow.
We were just gonna sit down and have dinner.
-Let me get you a plate.
-Don't worry about it.
l already ate.
And there's this thing l was invited to.
So l think l'm gonna go upstairs, change and then l will be out of your hair.
You guys have a good night.
-You know what l love about that kid? -Everything.
Well, yeah.
That and he can totally take a hint.
l've been to at least a dozen raves, and they've all been great.
Oh, yeah.
Hundreds of sweaty strangers packed together being blasted with potentially ear-damaging decibels.
Sounds great.
Hey, l thought you were gonna give this a chance.
l am.
l'm actually really excited to check out this new revolution.
No.
Aren't raves just like high-school dances, but 1 0 times longer? Oh, l used to love high-school dances.
Well, you were the queen of every one you went to.
Well, why do you think l loved them? Hey, if you don't wanna come, we are totally fine leaving you here.
You can clean the bathroom.
Did l say l didn't wanna come? l'm starting to see the upside here.
Good.
-Dawson.
-Hey.
-You actually decided to come.
-Yeah.
l'm cashing in my rain check.
Well, come in.
Hey, guys, look who's joining us.
The Mitch-mobile is gassed and ready to go.
Who's coming? Let's go, Pace.
We're gonna be late picking up Jack.
His meeting ends by 1 0.
l know, l know.
l just-- l gotta find directions to the map point.
What's a map point? lt's like a buffer zone for undesirables.
lf they don't like the way you look you might not get directions to the actual location.
But how do you know if you're undesirable? Andie, it's a rave on the outer banks of civilization.
Anybody who shows up with money is desirable.
Well, there we go.
Don't worry.
Within an hour, you'll be grooving to the point of exhaustion with the Cape's version of disenfranchised youth.
Are you sure you wanna go? l'm starting to feel guilty about twisting your arm.
lf you don't wanna go, l totally understand.
-No, no.
l wanna celebrate with you.
-Good.
l think we're gonna have fun.
That's exactly what we need, to have fun.
But first, the facilities.
Figure while l'm in there l might as well slap on a little bit of that lip-- Are those some kind of pills? Yeah.
Some kind of pills.
We're not talking aspirin, are we? You know what just went through my mind? Fourth of July in Cohasset.
That was the last time all of us were in a car together.
God, you guys were such babies.
-How old were you, Pacey? -l don't know.
Don't remember it.
-We were 1 1 .
You were 1 4.
-And you were wearing something red.
-Oh, God.
-ls it possible that l remember that? Unfortunately, yeah.
Ecstasy.
So have you done a lot of it? Yeah, in New York.
l never went to a rave without it, and l went to a lot of raves.
So you must have liked what it did for you.
l mean, otherwise you wouldn't have kept taking it, right? Oh, yeah.
l mean the first few times, it's amazing.
lt's hard not to love the X effect.
Which is what, exactly? -What's with all the questions? -l'm just curious.
You know, a way to pass the time until Jack gets out of that never-ending meeting.
All right.
God.
First time you do X, it's really good.
You get this feeling of loving everybody and everything.
And everybody loves you.
And that can be really powerful.
X just made me happy.
lt just provided a pleasant vacation from my usual spot under the bell jar.
So X makes you happy? All kinds of wonderful.
-That doesn't sound so bad.
-lt's not, at first.
See, it lasts about six hours, and then it's gone.
And afterward, ironically, you're more depressed than when you started.
The worst thing, though, with X, well, with any drug is you lose your inhibitions.
That's why l stopped.
l just-- l just didn't know who l was anymore.
Can l see it? Come on.
l'm just, you know, curious.
l wanna see what they look like.
Andie, you're way too interested.
l'm just interested in feeling happy.
-Wait, didn't you just get into Harvard? -Yep.
And one would think that finally getting the one thing that you wanted your entire life, you'd experience one moment of sheer joy, but.
No moment? You wanna talk about what you are feeling? No.
Because that's all l ever do is talk and talk.
Tonight, l just wanna have fun.
l wanna leave my problems behind in a little field and pick them up tomorrow.
l don't know.
l-- l'm sure it's just some kind of weird delayed-reaction thing.
And l'm gonna feel happy soon.
Yeah.
-lt's just-- -You will.
Oh, my God.
lnsufferable.
l cannot wait to dance this soccer stuff right out of my head.
-What? Did l interrupt something? -Nope.
Just girl talk.
Well, l'm glad you stopped when l got here.
-Shall we vámonos? -Yep.
Yeah.
-Okay, come on.
-Not here.
Later, later.
-Could they make this any creepier? -l'll be your map-point buddy.
Come on.
When did they become going-out-together buddies? l believe this is the inaugural event.
Of all the guys in Capeside that want to befriend her she picks Dawson.
That doesn't bother you at all? He's the only person close to her age working at the restaurant.
Makes perfect sense that they'd be friends.
No, l asked if it bothered you.
No, it doesn't bother me.
lt bothers you.
No, it doesn't bother me.
lt bothers you.
You just want it to bother me too.
-So then what's bothering you? -You.
Now, why are you here? -To have a great night? -Exactly.
Right on.
All right, 5 bucks a body.
We'll take four.
Follow the yellow brick road.
-Now that l have you alone, tell me.
-Yeah? ls it just a front, or are you really okay with the Joey/Pacey component? lt's a little awkward.
l'm not gonna lie, but l'm in too good of a mood to let it bother me.
ls that why you changed your mind? Yeah, actually.
My parents decided to have the baby.
-Oh, Dawson, that's incredible.
-Good.
l wanted to tell you right away, but in light of.
And l didn't want to ruin the evening.
Oh, no.
No, you can absolutely talk to me about this.
You have to.
Okay, good, because l've been wanting to share it with somebody.
-l don't know, l'm so excited about it.
-As you should be.
l mean, hey, you know, as irritating as they are younger siblings do have their pluses.
They're good for doing chores and there's always someone to blame if anything gets broken.
Thank you for sharing what you went through.
lt really helped me understand what my parents were going through -from the right perspective.
-Yeah, well if there's anything l'm good for, it's a little attitude adjustment.
Come on.
Oh, man, this is awesome.
Rave time has arrived.
Hey, Andie, were we done back there at the park? -Totally done.
-All right.
-So you're okay? -l am so okay.
Actually, l feel really great.
Well, why don't you give me back the X.
Jack won't see it.
Jen, don't be mad, but l sort of took one.
Andie, no, when? Well, before we got back to the car.
l just decided, you know, carpe diem.
No, this is so not good for you.
But you said it was amazing the first few times.
And l think l've earned an amazing night, right? l'll pay you back, whatever it costs.
ls it a lot? No, Andie.
l don't care about the money.
l care about you.
That's so sweet, Jen.
But l told you, l'm feeling fine.
Look, can we not tell Jack about this? Because l don't think he'd approve.
-Yeah.
-Great.
Come on.
Oh, right on.
You guys are so not the squares l thought you were.
Hi there.
We haven't met.
l don't have a problem with that.
-Hey, guys.
-Hey.
-ls it weird that we're all here, or what? -Hey.
-Somebody's out celebrating.
-Yep.
-Congratulations.
-What are we celebrating? Andie got into Harvard.
That explains your sudden desperate need to focus on your future.
l really don't need you tonight.
You did it.
Just like you always said you would.
Congratulations.
Oh, Potter, how cool are you? You don't mind that that lasted just a split second longer than the ''ex'' guidelines allow? Who is that guy? Did you ever meet Abby Morgan? Never mind.
Let's just go in.
Jen, this place is so beautiful.
Andie.
Petting Joey, not a good way to maintain a low profile.
l want you to enjoy this, but you have to maintain especially around people you'll see on Monday.
l'm okay, Jen, really.
You don't have to worry about me.
l'm feeling fine.
l'm sure you are.
Listen l really wanna keep an eye on you tonight.
So you're gonna have to work with me and stick by me.
You're the best, Jen.
-l never knew your hair was so soft.
-Okay, Andie.
Again, not in the realm of maintaining.
-You gotta try harder for me, please? -Okay.
There are wild people everywhere.
This is exactly the kind of reckless abandonment you need.
Which of you McPhees is gonna dance? -Me.
l wanna.
-Right on, sister.
Come on this way.
Jack, l need to get some water.
Do me a big favour.
Keep an eye -on Drue and Andie for me, all right? -Why? Just trust me.
He's not the kind of guy that you leave your sister with.
l'm sorry about the Dawson snafu.
But when l invited him, he said no.
lt didn't even occur to me that he would change his mind.
That's okay.
l mean, l'm kind of glad that we all ended up together.
Accidental or not, things have been getting better, slowly.
l'm glad to hear that.
The three of you have so much history.
And Dawson's such a great guy.
Speaking of Dawson, and l know this is none of my business, Gretchen-- ls there possibly, even in the vaguest way well, something happening with you and Dawson? Where exactly did that come from? Well, obviously you're aware of his incredibly infamous crush on you.
Yeah, the one that ended when he was, like, 1 2.
But, see.
Gretchen.
Dawson has this way of hanging on to things since he was, like, 1 2.
Sure, he outgrows them, puts them in their proper perspective but that doesn't always mean they're gone.
Sometimes l think they're just waiting around for the right moment to come out again and, well, maybe if he thinks there's the slightest chance.
You know what l think? lf Dawson's waiting for some childhood crush to come around again, he's not waiting on me.
-Andie McPhee, you are so high.
-Me? No, l'm not.
Yeah.
Really? Yeah.
Feels good, don't it? No.
l'm supposed to be maintaining.
Nobody knows except Jen, and she's gonna make sure l'm okay tonight.
Yeah.
Andie, look, honey, take my word for this, okay? l am a far, far better guide through the looking glass than Jen Lindley could ever be.
Okay? Come on, lvy League.
Let's have fun.
You know, you're violating the sacred buddy system.
No one ventures out alone, remember? l would have stayed in there, but l was really intimidated by all the intricate steps necessary to enjoy the most tuneless music known to man.
l, too, felt a little out of place.
You know not having dressed in what could only be described as an homage to Japanese animation.
So why are we here? We're trying something new.
Yeah, which only really serves to let me know how much l enjoyed the old.
Me too.
But l am glad we came.
l mean, if nothing else, to witness the wasted youth of America firsthand.
And it ain't pretty.
But you, madame, most certainly are.
Remember how we used to play '' barnacle for your thoughts''? Yes.
Well, l don't exactly have a barnacle on me but l could offer you this lovely glow necklace.
Which l would gladly accept.
Gives you that whole Caesar look again.
Wonderful.
So l did my part.
And l think now you're supposed to tell me something deep and profound.
You wanna hear something deep and profound? l miss True Love, Jo.
l mean, right now, sitting under the stars, arm around you let me tell you.
l miss True Love something fierce.
l miss her too, Pacey.
Hey.
Glow necklace? All the cool kids seem to be wearing them.
No? lf you don't like the colour -l can exchange it, they got others.
-No, it's great.
Thanks.
ls something wrong? Okay, there's no easier way to say this, so l'm just gonna put it out there.
ls it possible, even in the vaguest way, that you're here because you think there's a chance something might be happening between us? l think there is something happening between us.
-lt's called friendship.
-And that's all you expect? Did l do something to make you think l expected more? No.
No, sorry.
This is so out of the blue.
l feel ridiculous even mentioning it.
Don't feel ridiculous.
lt's no secret that at one point in my life l would've killed for you to even acknowledge that l was in a room let alone hang out with you, but, well.
l don't think that's where either one of us are at right now.
So where are we at? Well when that boat sailed last summer l didn't just lose Joey, l lost my two best friends.
But, you know, you move on.
And if you're lucky, you make new friends, like you.
You're easy to talk to, you give really good advice.
But l don't expect anything, you know? lt's just the opposite, really.
lt's just.
God, it's really nice to just be in the present with somebody.
-Okay.
-Okay? Dance or bounce? Bounce? Oh, my God! Hi, it's you guys.
l love you guys.
-She's feeling the love.
-Apparently.
Yeah, Andie, l think you've done enough hugging tonight.
l just wanted to show you guys how much l love you both.
You guys are so good together.
And, Joey, you are so nice.
Except for when you dumped Dawson for Pacey.
That was pretty cold.
But really, who can blame you? l mean, it's Pacey.
l pretend not to care.
But l have to admit, Pace you are the love of my life.
And l am so not over you.
l hope it's okay that l said that.
l mean, we're friends, so it shouldn't be a big secret, right? -lt's news to me, Andie.
-You totally don't have to worry.
l mean, Pacey is so over me.
And such the faithful type.
lf only l had been, maybe we'd still be together.
-Andie, are you feeling okay? -Oh, yeah.
l feel great.
And l just got into Harvard.
Oh, we're gonna go bounce.
Come with us.
Come on.
No.
You guys go ahead.
Okay.
Okay.
Let's go.
All right.
-Jack? Jack.
Jack.
-What, what? Hey.
-Hey, where'd everybody go? -Jen, l want you to meet Holly and Liz.
Right.
Hi.
Listen, point me to where Andie went, general direction? l lost track of her.
l don't know where they went.
What? l asked you to do one little thing.
l don't know.
-Come on.
We're gonna go find her.
-l-- l'll see you guys later.
Hey, what--? What is with you? l thought you were, like, this major raver.
All you seem to be doing is monitoring Andie.
l'm just making sure she's all right.
Why wouldn't she be? Let's just find her.
Hey, this is a no-parking zone, buddy, move it.
Hey, you guys.
Can we come bounce? Yeah.
Plenty of room.
Great! -Hey there.
-Wow, this is so much fun! lt's like a big bounce! l'm having so much fun with Drue and you and Dawson! You okay? -You don't look so good.
-l'm getting a bit of a headache.
Well, let's sit this one out.
-Drue? -Rest for a minute.
You'll be fine.
Dawson, l'm not feeling so-- -You all right? -Andie? Andie? Andie? Dawson, what happened? -l don't know.
She just collapsed.
-Andie, come on! Wake up.
God, please don't do this! Andie! Come on! Andie.
Somebody help us! Andie! Come on.
Hey, we need some help here.
lt's my sister.
We were in the moon bounce and she collapsed.
What's she on? -An antidepressant, Nardil-- -No, what is she on? -X.
She took a tab of Ecstasy.
-With Nardil? -How bad is it? -Her temp's 1 03.
BP 1 90/1 1 0.
We gotta get her to the hospital, like, One, two, three.
-lf anyone's gonna ride, get in.
-Yeah, yeah, that's me.
-Jack, please let me come with you.
-Not now, Jen.
-You've done enough.
-You don't understand.
l didn't know she was on medication.
l would-- What does it matter? You gave my sister drugs, Jen! lt should be you in this ambulance.
You need a ride to the hospital? No.
No, l should probably just go home.
Okay.
Let's go, guys.
-How is she? -Not good.
Really not good.
Come on, l'll take you home.
At the park, all the warning signs were there.
l don't know why l didn't see it.
She took the stuff.
lt's not your fault.
l practically stamped ''AMA approved'' on it.
l should have known better.
Forget medication, she could've gone down for any reason.
-lt still would've been my fault.
-Andie is responsible for her own choices, even her bad ones.
Why are you playing the martyr? Does nothing faze you? She's my friend.
She's in the hospital because of something from me.
-You don't think l should feel bad? -Want something to feel bad about? How about the way your ''friends'' iced you? l hate-- l hate the way you twist everything.
Well, hate it all you want.
The truth is, no matter what Andie tells them Monday, they'll treat you like this is your fault.
You came here the banished bad seed.
That's all you'll ever be to them.
They want you to play that role so they can feel better about the pathetic plastic Mayberry existence they're living.
-And l thought that l was damaged.
-You are.
So am l.
And that's why we need each other.
We're coming from the same place.
No, Drue.
We came from the same place, but now we're miles apart and l intend to keep it that way.
l'm gonna call my friend and see how she's doing.
-You get him? -lt's taken care of, yeah.
-Thanks.
-How's Andie? She's-- She's stable now.
They said that she went into some kind of hypertensive crisis.
See, Andie's on this older type of antidepressant and.
Turns out it's, you know it's a time bomb when it's mixed with the wrong thing.
So in a way, l guess, we're very lucky the way things turned out.
That she didn't.
God, she could have died.
Look, they want to-- They wanna keep her overnight so l know she appreciates you guys being here and everything but l don't think she's in the mood for visitors.
You should just go home.
Call tomorrow and see how she's feeling.
You're right.
l'm sure she needs her rest.
l think we do too.
Yeah, so, all right, l'll see you guys tomorrow.
-Okay.
-Okay.
You okay, Pace? No.
No.
l should have known that something was wrong.
And l knew it.
l just didn't know how bad it was.
Even if you had realized, there's nothing you could have done.
Yeah.
Look, l think l wanna stay here tonight, if that's okay.
Completely.
You want company? No.
l'll just give you a call when l get home, okay? Here.
ln case you need something to rest on.
Not exactly the evening l had in mind when l invited you.
l don't think anybody had this evening in mind.
But l'm glad l went.
Me too.
Well, good night.
-See you at work.
-All right.
-Dawson.
-Yeah? Your friendship means a lot to me too.
Coming back here has been really hard.
And somehow you've made the transition a lot more enjoyable than l ever thought it could be.
Well, good.
That's what friends are for.
-Good night.
-Good night.
Weird night, huh? Yeah.
l'm not even tired.
How about hungry? l'm sorry, Daddy.
l really am.
-l'm not mad, Andie.
-l am.
The three of us, we need each other.
You can't do stupid things like this, Andie.
You can't.
Think about -what our family's been through.
-l know.
l'm sorry.
l know it was stupid.
lt's the stupidest thing l've ever done.
l don't know.
lt's just l wanted to feel something, you know? Anything.
lt's okay.
We'll get through this as long as we can communicate.
You know, as a family.
You have to tell us what you're going through.
No more secrets.
Okay.
Hey.
lt's 25-cent coffee from the machine, so don't get your hopes up.
Thank you.
You stayed.
l didn't have anything better to do, so l figured l'd just stay and bug you.
You're not bugging me.
About the things that l said, Pacey-- Hey, don't worry about what you said.
lt doesn't matter.
What matters now is that you're okay.
Thanks.
Doesn't seem right to have such a beautiful sunrise after the night we just had.
And l can't shake the way that Andie looked when they put her in that ambulance.
lt's scary how things can turn so bad so fast.
Scary how real everything's been this year, you know? Jen and Pacey and the storm.
Andie tonight.
lt does make you kind of realize that any one of us could go at any moment for the stupidest of reasons.
l know.
l remember when parties used to be bowling and birthday cakes, you know? l mean, now they're high-risk adventures that could actually kill you.
Another perk of growing up in the new millennium.
You know, less than a year, Dawson, and we'll all be out of here.
Yeah.
lt's really sad to think that after from each other, there's gonna be no one rowing our boats anymore.
Well, l wouldn't put our boats into dry-dock just yet.
-You have plans for our boats? -l do.
l think you should give yours to Alexander because l'm gonna be giving mine to my new brother or sister.
That's why Gale's been so sick lately? She's pregnant? Congratulations.
Oh, my God.
Well, Capeside wouldn't be Capeside without a little Leery running around.
Or rowing across the creek to get to your house.
Sounds weird, but hearing that -makes me feel-- -Old? -How'd you know that? -lt's the way l felt.
Nothing propels you into adulthood faster than the next generation nipping at your heels.
You know, Dawson.
l think about it sometimes and wherever we go next it's hard to imagine life without you.
You did pretty well for three months.
l think you know what l mean.
Yeah.
Yeah, l do.
