bleeding to death,

Which confirms the murder must
have taken place between 6 and 6.30
for which Booker Stjean has no alibi.
I've looked through
recent texts and emails
exchanged between the victim
and Booker StJean.
There's nothing to suggest
any kind of tension or falling-out.
Seems friendly between them.
So, we have one suspect
but no suggestion of a motive.

and he shed some light on why
Max Saunders came out
angry with his father.

so, I'm not surprised he'd come out
and want to confront his father.
OK, so, we've got Max Saunders
steeped in motive,
but all the physical evidence proves
he can't possibly have
committed the murder.
Because he has a watertight alibi.
And then, there's Booker StJean
who had means and opportunity
but, so far, not one whiff of a motive.
So, if it was him, how did he do it?
And if it was him, why did he do it?
And, to compound everything,
we actually have a witness to the murder
who, ironically, is unable to speak.

Tension had risen between them two.
Max wanted his dad out of the way
so he could continue
the family business on his own.
But Ray was one step ahead,
beat him to it.

his father who double-crossed him?
Final piece of the puzzle -
Ray Saunders's network provider
emailed over
his deleted voicemail messages
from the last two weeks.
This was found on Ray's answerphone
the morning of the murder.
This is it, Dad.
No more warnings.
You don't do what you did to me
without there being consequences.
You betrayed me.
And I am coming for you.
Well? Well, it's pretty damning.
You're clearly threatening revenge,
and later that day
your father was murdered.
Coincidences can happen, you know.

what exactly were you
referring to? You tell me.
OK We think it's the fact
that your father set you up,
tipped off the border police
in Guadeloupe.

and he really seemed
to get himself in a mess.

It all seemed to start going wrong

Ray sabotaged Max's drug pick-up.

to get his drugs or money back.
From what I heard, he was pretty
stubborn about the whole thing.
He was so set on taking Max down,
he didn't really care
about the financial loss.
Just saw it as collateral damage.
That's why he got into all
the meditating and spiritual stuff,
to find some peace with what he did.

Just heard back from the lab
on the items we found
outside of Booker's apartment block.
The gun definitely fired the bullets
we found at the scene.
There was also gunshot residue
all over the gloves.
And the lab analysed
the sticky substance.
They say it's glucose.
Plus, no-one else's prints or DNA is
on either item, apart from Booker's.
Then, it must be him.
He had to have done it.

The witness that called it in said
he saw an orange car speeding off.
We've got an index number.
The car was reported stolen
earlier today.
So, we're supposed to believe
it's a coincidence that a stolen car
was involved in a hit-and-run

We now realise that when
I arrived at Ray's villa that night,
he wasn't actually dead.
It was just staged to seem that way
because you were helping him
fake his own death.
We found traces of glucose
on the gun and gloves we recovered.
Clearly, something had
leaked on to them.
That something turned out
to be fake blood.
We searched your apartment
again this morning.
We found these -
a Halloween favourite
in homes across the world.
Corn syrup and red food dye.
Add a little bit of water,
and you've got a pretty convincing
imitation blood.
Now, that, combined with the bullet
that you fired into the glass doors,
that completed the illusion
that Ray had been shot.

So, when I arrived,
I didn't think for a minute
that what I was seeing
was not a real murder scene.
I assume the plan, once Marlon had
been knocked unconscious by you,
was for Ray to disappear into the night.
He had a boat moored,
some cash he had scrambled together
stashed there,
and he was going to go
to another island, and I
I was going to join him
once the heat had died down.
And, with Ray presumed dead, all
his debts would be cleared, right?
A clean start. No money problems.
That's all Ray wanted.
The intention being that, when
Marlon regained consciousness,
he, and we, would assume the killer
had just disposed of the body
to cover his tracks,
to confuse the police.
That's why Ray specifically
phoned Marlon that night.
You wanted a police officer there to
witness Ray's seemingly dead body.
That way, his word
wouldn't be questioned.
It would be accepted that Ray was dead.
And, to put the cherry on the cake,
you already had a potential suspect
waiting in the wings.
The plan was to plant the gun
at Max's guest house, seal the deal.
But Something went very wrong.
I heard a shot five minutes
after I knocked you out.
And when I came back, I see Ray
in the exact same position, but
this time, he's dead for real.
I see Max running and
I knew straight away what he did.
Somehow he figured out what
we were planning and him just
We assumed that Ray had been shot
somewhere between 6 and 6.30,
during which time Max was
with his probation officer.
But, in actual fact, Ray was shot
after Marlon had found his body,
just before seven o'clock.
It's been hard for me
these last few days,
pretending as if
I didn't know the truth,
pretending as if I didn't care.
Ray was a good man, despite
what oono might think about him.
