Destination Truth (2007) s05e06 Episode Script

Vampire Monsters;Island Of The Damned

- On this episode of "Destination Truth".
.
My team travels to Romania to investigate reports of a real life Vampire monster.
After a harrowing trek through the backwoods of Transylvania.
.
We discover that this beast might be more than just a legend.
Everywhere you look, there's just death down here.
Oh, my God! Next, we set in a course for the icy coast of Sweden.
Where a lonely island is reported to be haunted by the ghosts of witches.
Were many witches killed in Sweden? In the rugged Scandinavian back country, our paranormal investigation takes a terrifying turn.
- Oh, my God! - Ah! Hold on! I'm Josh Gates.
In my travels, I've seen some unexplainable things.
And I've done some things I can't quite explain.
Now, I've pulled together a team armed with the latest technology in the search for answers to the world's strangest mysteries.
I'm not sure what's out there waiting for me, but I know what I'm looking for.
.
The truth.
When it comes to creature popularity contests, there's no question that the homecoming King of monsters is the Vampire.
From "Twilight" to "True Blood" to the Olsen twins, these pale insomniacs are kings of pop culture.
And no place on Earth is as closely linked with these demonic creatures as Transylvania.
But could there be a real world monster behind the legends? According to eyewitness accounts, Transylvania's true Vampires come in the form of a terrifying animal.
The creatures are said to live in the isolated wilderness in Southern Romania, pouncing through the woods on powerful legs with speed that allows them to exist virtually undetected.
They have frightening claws and a large muscular body.
The unidentified animals can easily rip through flesh, giving them easy access to the blood they crave.
With a recent string of livestock maulings attributed to these Transylvanian Chupacabras, we packed up our equipment, and a few cloves of garlic, and headed to the Vampire capital of the world.
From Los Angeles, our Transatlantic journey took us 6,600 miles to the Romanian capital of Bucharest.
In order to track down the real world Vampire, we'd have to travel to the source of the Vampire legend.
From Bucharest, it was a 180 mile train ride North to Sighisoara, the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, the inspiration for Count Dracula.
I was just having this terrible dream that we were on this awful, awful long train ride.
It's happening, Ryder.
The reward for the grueling six hour train ride was our arrival in this charming historic 12th century city.
This is it.
Dracula's home town.
It's always great to see where young torturers grow up.
We finally track down Vlad's actual boyhood home, and headed inside for a closer look.
This is pretty amazing, this is actually Vlad's yearbook.
It says here he was voted most likely to impale.
In Vlad's basement, we discovered an array of primitive torture devices.
Check this little torture device out.
Nice rack.
Sure is.
This thing ain't bad, either.
Having seen Dracula's home, I met with a prominent local historian who helped separate fact from legend.
So tell me a little bit about Vlad, he has a bad reputation.
He became famous as Vlad the Impaler, because he used to punish people.
He used to stop them doing bad things.
The punishment, the stake goes into the victim body through the rectum, around the spine, comes out through your neck or through your mouth.
Despite Vlad's well earned reputation as a murderer, it was Bram Stoker's novel that turned him into the Vampiric Dracula we know today.
But I wanted to know if people were serious about seeing actual bloodsuckers in Transylvania.
Do people today still claim to see Vampires? There are hundreds, thousands of them, they actually search for them.
And if I want to go talk to people that claim to see these creatures, where would I go? You have to go deep in the country, out from the city.
He directed us to the heart of the sightings, and we got back on our train.
Headed deep into the Carpathian Mountains and 80 miles South.
The nearly 1,000 year old Saxon city of Brasov is brimming with Medieval charm, and is lorded over by the imposing 14th century fortress known as Dracula's Castle.
On the way to our interview, we spotted a touristy Vampire haunted house.
For seasoned monster hunters like us, this was sure to be a walk in the park.
Ryder, you go first, come on, you got this.
I'll be right back here.
I wish we had the thermal or the night.
.
Oh, my God! - Ah! - Come on! I hate every second of this.
Not you, too, Tristant.
Come on! Make it stop! Monsters I can deal with, but I am terrified of out of work Romanian actors.
Oh, come on! Sir, I'm gonna need you to calm down.
After a quick underwear change, we headed to the outskirts of town to meet with the most recent eyewitness, who had just returned from the countryside, and claimed to have seen the beast.
What do these creatures look like? How do they appear? You really don't want to see this thing.
It looks a little bit like a human, but it's an animal.
It has legs like a horse.
If I want to find these things, where would you send me? There is this forest in Southern Romania.
This is where it has been sighted recently.
There is an abandoned village, also in there.
And if you can make it there, you'll find the creature.
Back on the train, we rode the rails South, deep into the mountains of Transylvania.
We eventually arrived near the forest where the most recent eyewitness accounts have taken place.
We sought out a farmer who claimed to have encountered the unknown creature just days earlier.
What exactly did you see there? One night, he saw this big, huge creature but it was dark outside.
He couldn't see what it was, it was big.
I've heard about this abandoned village.
Can you tell me about the village? There is this village that was built in 1600s that was completely abandoned, it's out there in the woods, and people seen and heard strange things in there.
Many locals believe this abandoned village, situated near a river, to be a shelter for the creature.
However, getting deep into the forest was no easy hike.
Alright let's pick it up a little bit, guys.
After several hours trudging through the back country, we reached a substantial impasse.
Whoa.
Stop, stop, stop.
Okay.
Let's break out the climbing gear.
Let's be quick about this, let's get it rigged up and go.
Definitely wet and wild, guys, hang on.
This is nuts.
One by one, my team made the precarious decent down the slippery rock face.
Woo! You got it, you got it, come here.
Nice work.
After reaching the bottom of the waterfall, we continued our trip flowing down stream.
But just a half mile later, we reached another obstacle.
All right, guys, we got another drop.
Let's get the ropes and the harnesses.
Oh, what the hell.
Protect me, oh, Lord, from all the (Bleep) That Josh Gates gets me into.
Why do I do this? Okay guys, let's rest up on the bank, make our way to base camp.
After a short hike, we reached a clearing near the abandoned village, the exact area where the creature was thought to be hiding.
We quickly prepared for the night ahead.
Let's get set up before it gets too dark.
We strung infrared cameras throughout the area, as well as motion activated trap cameras, and a series of perimeter alarms.
Josh for base camp.
Perimeter alarm sensors are active and ready to go.
We're looking for Vampires, kind of.
You know, most people think of Vampires, they think of undead, you know, blood sucking humans, we're looking for something that's a little more rooted in reality.
Whatever this thing is, it's Vampiric.
They say that it's drained other animals' blood, that it's dragged livestock off into the woods, and people believe that this is something real.
We'll break out into two different sweep teams, we'll search as much of the forest as we can, Tristant, you'll be back here at base camp manning all the surveillance equipment.
Sounds good.
Where do you think this trail leads? I don't know.
Keep your ears open, though.
Keep an eye out for any tracks.
Oh, oh! Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
I got something on the thermal.
Kyle, come here.
- Get the astroscope in here.
- What have you got? I just got a hit on the thermal down there.
Something's back there.
Oh, there it is! You see it? You see it? Yeah.
Right to the left.
- Oh, shh-shh-shh.
- I hear it.
Back up, back up, back up.
What do you guys see? Very carefully.
Listen, listen, listen.
Oh, my God! What is that? Listen, listen, listen.
Oh, my God! What is that? - What the (Bleep), did you see? - What was that? (Bleep) Eyes.
Coming right at us.
Seemed like there was, like, two sets of eyes just running left to right.
Like, almost like we were getting surrounded.
Tristant for Josh.
Go for Josh.
Hey Josh um, on my IR Camera number three, I just saw some bright flashes coming through the woods.
Uh, did you guys see anything over in that area? Yeah, we're seeing stuff down here in the woods as well, we think we got sight of a couple of animals.
Uh, we're gonna head back up that way and check it out.
Copy that.
Let's go check out that camera, come on.
We know that Romania is filled with wolves and bears.
So, definitely have to be on our guard tonight.
Look at this, look at this.
Looks like some sort of an old.
.
Gated entry.
This should lead us to the village beyond.
Can you open it? No.
It's rusted shut.
I'm gonna have to use some brute force.
- Go for it.
- All right, stand back.
Nicely done.
I've always wanted to do that.
Oh, look at this, look a this.
Oh, creepy.
Looks like one of the old buildings in here, guys.
Can't believe it's still here.
For being hundreds of years old, these things are in pretty good shape.
It's amazing the people just up and left.
I wonder what would be so scary that everyone just left.
That's what we're here to find out.
Everybody stay together, here we go.
Guys, look around, see if you can see anything.
He thought he saw something near this camera, try to look around, spread out.
Okay.
Hey, Tristant, I'm in front of IR Camera three.
I don't see anything around here right now, we're gonna search the whole perimeter, we'll let you know if we come up with anything.
Okay, copy that.
It would be directly behind you to your left.
Okay, we're gonna head in there now.
Copy that.
Wow.
Wonder how old this place is.
Gotta be over 300 years old.
- Smells like it.
- Yeah, it does.
- Did you hear that? - No.
What'd you hear? Sounded like something's right behind the building.
Oh, check it out.
You know, the ground's kind of soft, we might be able to see some prints.
Look at this.
Look at this.
It looks like some sort of impression in the ground.
Might have been left by something, but it's hard to tell.
Sort of indistinct.
That's about the size of your hand.
We should definitely photograph it.
Ryder for Tristant.
Go ahead, Ryder.
We're hoping maybe you could bring the evidence kit out to us.
Copy that.
I'll get your location from the GPS, and I'll bring the evidence kit.
Looks like something on the thermal on the ground.
Whoa, look at this.
Guys, look at this huge hole.
Careful, careful, it goes way down.
Predators sometimes use caves for shelter, maybe this thing does, too.
Let's get down there.
Nice and slow.
Guys, I'm down.
Alright, let's do this, come on, let's see where this tunnel goes.
Okay.
Be careful, guys, I have no idea how stable any of this is.
Let's see if we can figure out.
.
What the hell's down here.
Josh, I got a skeleton over here.
I got bones down here, too.
This is like a graveyard.
Either a lot of animals are falling down that hole, or something's dragging them down.
What do you got there? Let me see.
Oh, man.
It looks like a wolf or a dog or something.
No animal could make it up and down that depth we just came down.
There might be another entrance, let's keep pushing on, see if we can find it.
We wanted to bring you out because we're worried this weather's gonna come in, and wash all this away.
Yeah, the.
.
The thunder and lightning's definitely moving in.
That's about all I can do.
Oh, look at this, look at this.
Hey, Katy, it looks like there's another structure up ahead.
Oh, yeah, it looks like a church.
Let's check this thing out.
Look at this.
I mean, this is something right out of, like.
.
The Dracula movie, you know? This is like Bram.
.
Oh, my God.
Look at this.
I mean, this is something right out of, like.
.
The Dracula movie, you know? This is like Bram.
.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God, oh, my God.
- What is it? - What? Something really big.
- Yeah, it just.
.
- What the (Bleep) Was that? It just went past this way.
Whatever it was, it was moving really fast.
Ah, there it is again.
Where? Right up ahead.
Sounds like something's moving through the brush.
Oh, (Bleep).
Right in these high trees, huh? Looks like it's all blocked off through here.
It's starting to rain.
It's definitely a good time to get into that church, protect all of our gear.
Oh, look at this.
Creep city.
They're eyes are clawed out.
Oh, oh, jeez.
Where did that come from? That looks like a wooden stake.
That's probably one of the creepiest things that's ever happened.
Everywhere you look, there's just death down here.
This whole place is just littered with bones.
Look at this.
.
Dude, this tooth is the size of my finger.
The tooth is from something huge, I don't know what that is.
We'll bag some samples, take 'em back, maybe get some usable DNA, see if we can get some answers on what these things are.
All right, let's keep moving, come on.
It's a dead end.
This is it.
This thing doesn't go on any further.
Let's get back to the surface.
We got a long climb back up, come on.
We hoisted ourselves back to the surface, packed up our gear, and with the sun rising, began the soggy march back to Los Angeles, where we would analyze our findings.
We poured over the footage from our overnight investigation, and found intriguing evidence.
Our thermal imager did catch something lurking in the darkness.
And our infrared cameras spotted something in the woods.
Based on shape, the images suggest that we may have seen a Romanian gray wolf.
Ryder's print was too muddy to identify, and her animal encounter didn't yield a clear shot of whatever spooked her team.
We then headed to the Los Angeles Museum of Natural History.
To show our physical findings to Mammalogist, Dr.
Jim Dines.
So what I see in these photographs are actually several different species.
The first set of photographs here are clearly - the remains of a dog.
- Okay.
In addition to the canine skull, Jim identified the bones of a cow, as well as a large goat.
The tooth we found, however, proved particularly interesting.
Yeah, this is actually really cool.
What we have here is the upper canine tooth from a cave bear.
The cave bear, or Ursus Spelaeus, has been extinct since the last ice age 27,000 years ago.
The find is significant since teeth like these are rare, and were once attributed to beasts such as dragons, and, you guessed it, Vampires.
Vampire myths may date back to prehistoric times.
Our modern fascination with blood suckers was sparked by Vlad the Impaler.
But beyond today's merchandise, pop culture and cheap scares, in the most inaccessible corners of Transylvania, locals claim that there is something real.
You really don't want to see this thing.
It looks like a human but it's an animal.
But with ancient monsters giving rise to legends, and real world predators on the prowl, I'm inclined to believe that this is one horror story that's best left on the pages of fiction.
Off the coast of Sweden in the middle of the Baltic Sea lies the lonely island of Bla Jungfrun.
And while the outcropping may be beautiful, it also has a dark history of being haunted.
So, Ryder, this island's got a pretty nasty reputation.
It was thought to be a gathering place for witches, all sorts of occult ceremonies and demonic rituals were supposedly carried out there.
Yeah, from our research, it looks like there are hundreds of documented supernatural encounters from the island.
Sounds pretty terrifying.
Uh.
.
Maybe you want to go this one alone? Solo case, let us know what happens? - Really? - No? Okay, the whole group can go.
Sorry, guys.
So much for the vacation we were planning.
Everybody thank Ryder for this trip.
It's gonna be pretty great.
She's very, very selfish individual.
Reports about the ghosts of witches date back half a millennium.
And today, vessels passing by Bla Jungfrun have reported seeing flashes of light, ghastly apparitions, and the sounds of tortured screams.
The island's dark power is so great that it is believed that anyone who removes even a single stone from its shores will be cursed.
Investigating a satanic island surrounded by freezing waters would be dangerous.
But despite the risks, we packed our gear, and headed to Scandinavia to kick off our haunted island getaway.
We flew across the nation and the Atlantic to Sweden's capital city of Stockholm.
We started our investigation with another automotive classic.
.
Thanks to Ryder.
- Seriously? - Look alive.
My Mom's Volvo from high school.
That's what we're doing here? Classic Swedish technology.
- It's been a while.
- Buckle up.
It's about to get really Swedish.
Well, kids, this is Sweden.
Sweden, of course, famous for many things.
Swedish meatballs.
Swedish fish.
The Swedish chef.
Swedish massages.
Swedish women.
Wow.
Oh! My bad.
There's a famous Folklorist here in Stockholm who knows the history of this island really well.
So we're definitely gonna stop there and chat with him.
We dropped off the wagon in downtown Stockholm, and set out on foot.
However, navigating the public transportation in the city was no easy feat.
I'll pay anybody five bucks if they can say that word.
What are you talking about? We're all getting on the Djurgardsfarjan.
All aboard.
Crossing the bay, it was hard to deny Stockholm's scenic charms.
Oh, the swedes have it all figured out.
Now, if only they could figure out a way to sell furniture cheaply, that I assemble at home.
Wait a minute.
The ferry took us to the other side of the city where we would conduct our first interview.
As we navigated the streets of Stockholm, we were distracted by her siren song of cheap T-shirts, and cheap psychics.
You're born with the sun in Leo, so it means that you really want to be the center of the attention.
I don't know what you're talking about.
Hence, you have the great self-confidence.
And you feel good about yourself.
I think you're gonna have a better position in your career, - and I think.
.
- Better than hosting "Destination Truth?" Not possible, ma'am.
I'm at the pinnacle of my career right now.
- You are? - No, I'm not.
Just blocks from the psychic's office was the home of renown Swedish Folklorist, and unintentional Gandalf impersonator, Ebbe Schon.
I wanted to learn more about the island's reputation.
Tell me a little bit about what you know of this island.
Were many witches killed in Sweden? With details on the history of witchcraft in Sweden, we piled back in the family truckster and headed out of Stockholm, and began a scenic 210 mile drive to Oskarshamn.
The jumping off point for the island which sits off the coast.
After three hours on the road, we arrived on the outskirts of Oskarshamn, and planned the next step in the investigation.
Okay, guys, before we head out to this island, I want to speak to a couple of modern-day witches.
There's actually two of them that live in the interior.
Unfortunately, there's no good road that gets out there.
And our most recent eyewitness is actually a photographer, and he's working out of this Archipelago where there's also no good roads.
Uh, Richie why don't you come with me, we'll take a set of ATV's and try to find these witches.
Ryder, why don't you lead a team with Tristant, Katy and Adam.
You could try to get out around this Archipelago on kayaks.
See if you can catch up with this guy.
Why do you get the ATV's? Oh, I'm sorry, did you want to go find the creepy witches out in the middle of the woods? - Good point.
- Yeah.
Okay, let's do it, come on.
Okay, guys, wind's coming in, be careful.
While Ryder's group paddled through choppy frigid waters, Richie and I began a challenging off-road ride in search of real life witches.
After nearly an hour on backwoods trails, we discovered the witches in the middle of a ritual.
Richie and I located the modern-day witches practicing a ritual in the forest.
They believe the island to be a place of intense energy.
What can you tell me about this island? It has a reputation, kind of a.
.
A dark reputation.
It's magic.
It's magic over there.
Do you think that it is a haunted place? Yes, absolutely, I think so.
There are both good and bad spirits there.
There's a labyrinth on the island, and it's been there for a very, very long time.
And it's very powerful.
And if you walk the whole labyrinth, that's the time when the witches are there.
The stone labyrinth on the island is hundreds of years old.
It may represent a trap for spirits, or a depiction of the path from hell toward heaven.
Meanwhile, Ryder and her team track down eyewitness, Peter Gerdehag.
While photographing the island on assignment, he claimed to have had a supernatural encounter.
Can you tell me a little bit about what happened out there? What do you think the light was that you saw? With the cabin and labyrinth identified as paranormal hot spots on the island, the team reunited and we headed into Oskarshamn to meet a city official who had vital information about the island's power.
What can you tell me about this island? How many people return these stones? Wow.
You want me to bring this stone back? Okay, I will return it to the island.
- Thank you.
- Thank you very much.
I hope this does not bring me bad luck.
With our research complete and a cursed rock in my pocket, I was anxious to brave the icy waters of the Baltic Sea.
.
And reach the haunted island.
Ryder, how you feeling? Why do you ask? Because you're always seasick.
Even when I'm not in boats.
All the time.
Everywhere we go.
I'm okay right now, mind over matter.
I'm just thinking about puppies and kittens.
- Clam chowder.
- No.
- Roller coasters.
- Absolutely not.
Tuna casserole.
None of this is helping.
Guys, there she is.
Do we have a dock or a pier out there or anything? No, there's no dock.
We'll circle it and try to find a place to go ashore.
The island is an inhospitable place to spend the night.
While it's less than one kilometer across, the granite outcropping rises nearly 250 feet out of the ocean.
The eastern side is exposed, and noises are often heard here on the wind.
While a thick forest with mysterious shadows cloaks the Western side.
The labyrinth is in the South, and though the island is uninhabited, a lone cabin serves as shelter for the occasional scientist.
.
Or paranormal investigator.
After finding a safe place to unload the boat, we climbed onto the island and prepared for the night ahead.
With temperatures dropping and daylight running out, we set up our remote cameras and shelter for the evening.
Home sweet home.
This is a pretty unique environment for us to be investigating in.
We are ten miles away from land in any direction, this is a small island.
We are completely alone out here.
People say that very strange things happen on this island.
It has a very dark reputation, it's associated with witchcraft, people believe that it's haunted.
Some people even say this is the home of the Devil himself.
We've got the whole island to ourselves, we're gonna canvas as much of it as we can, we'll split into two teams, we'll work our way around the exterior of the island.
I'm gonna head out with Katy and Adam and Kyle, Ryder, you and Rich will head out with Dave.
You'll head to the West, we'll go to the East.
We'll meet down in the Southern part of the island.
And we'll see what we find along the way.
Everybody needs to be really careful, we saw huge cliffs from the ocean, steep drop-offs, so keep your wits about you tonight.
Tristant, we'll stay in touch with you via walkie-talkie, you'll be here at base camp.
Let us know if you see anything on those cameras.
- Will do.
- All right, let's do it, gang, come on.
Looks like the trail goes back here into the woods.
You know, I was concerned this island was gonna be really small, but you get out here and.
.
Its actually got a whole forest in here.
Hear that? Shh-shh-shh-shh-shh.
Hear that? I do.
What is it? There it is again.
There it is again.
I don't see anything.
But I definitely heard it that time.
Shh.
What'd you hear? Low voices, chatter, all female.
You heard a voice, for sure? More than one voice.
For sure.
And it was distinctly women, it wasn't men.
Very soft, straight that way.
Shh.
What'd you hear? Low voices, chatter, all female.
You heard a voice for sure? More than one voice.
For sure.
And it was distinctly women, it wasn't men.
Very soft, straight that way.
It was a real familiar sound, like voices.
Where did you hear it exactly? I mean, it was right down by the water, almost the way we were headed on the trail.
Okay, let's head down there.
- Okay.
- Come on.
It's starting to get cool over here.
Okay, let's have a closer look.
Kyle, this bay must have been where those noises were coming from.
Whoa, ho, ho, careful, careful, careful, it's a sheer drop right there.
Oh, jeez.
It's almost like it was a siren call.
Yeah, we followed the voices and it led us.
.
Up to these really dangerous cliffs.
Let's see if we can keep chasing these noises down.
Okay.
Really careful on these rocks guys.
It's pretty quiet up here.
Yeah, it is.
You know, for being a really small island, there's a heck of a lot of ground to cover.
It feels like it.
What is that? That sounds like footsteps.
Is there anyone here? Show yourself if you're here.
Did you hear that? - Yeah.
Shh-shh-shh.
- Did you hear that? What the hell was that? Just sounded like a woman.
It sounded like a woman screaming.
(Bleep).
That came off to the left of me.
Holy (Bleep).
We need to find another way to get around to the other side to see if.
.
You know, there's something natural making that noise or.
.
Or something worse.
Guys, I got something weird on the thermal.
- A pattern.
- What do you see? Oh, this is the labyrinth.
Look at this.
So this has been here for hundreds of years.
Nobody knows who first put it here, but there's written accounts of it that are hundreds of years old.
So this is the entrance right here.
We head to the right, we follow the entire labyrinth, and we try to exit right out here.
Okay.
We've been told that if we walk this maze, the ghosts of witches will appear.
How long is this thing? This looks like the center of the maze.
I've got a missing stone that we were asked to bring here.
What is that? Josh, I got something really weird on this camera, come check this out.
- What do you got? - I don't know there's some kind of weird light.
What did you see? Right in between you and I.
.
In.
.
In the maze, there was a ball of light like an orb of some sort, that went from here to here.
It whiffed across.
.
Insect? No.
Definitely not an insect.
I've seen millions of insects with this thing.
All right, great.
Well mark it, and we'll look at it when we get back to headquarters.
- Great.
- That is spooky, dude.
Here's the cabin.
This is where that uh.
.
Eyewitness had his encounter.
And saw the bright light.
This place is.
.
Pretty creepy.
Or it's just this air of.
.
Misuse.
Oh, this must be the back bedroom.
This is where.
.
Our eyewitness, Peter, had his experience.
Maybe we should set up and do an EVP session in here, and see if we can ask some questions, maybe conjure up whatever he saw.
- Sounds good.
- Okay.
My name is Ryder.
My name is Richie.
And we come in peace.
We mean you no harm.
Is there anybody here? I have this strange ringing in my ears, it's driving me crazy.
It's.
.
I mean, it's almost giving me a headache, it's.
.
It's so strong.
Did you hear that? Yes, I did hear that.
Hello? - Go look.
- You go look.
You're closer.
- Oh, my God! - Ah! Hello? - Go look.
- You go look.
You're closer.
- Oh, my God! - Ah, (Bleep)! Shh-shh-shh-shh.
- I just saw something in the hallway.
- Where? - I just saw something here in the hallway.
- Where? Where? There's a dark shape that just went in that room.
Where? Where? Which room? Right there.
Is there anyone here? Holy (Bleep).
What the hell was that? It was right here.
I saw something in this house.
In this kitchen right here.
All right, well, let's keep looking around, and then start making our way back out the front and hopefully, nothing else like that happens on our way out.
Yeah, let's get out of this cabin.
Both teams continued to sweep every inch of the island until eventually, the sun rose up over the ocean in the eastern sky.
At first light, we dismantled our base camp, packed out our gear, and steamed toward land, beginning a long voyage back to Los Angeles where we'd review our findings.
We heard a lot of strange things while we were on the island.
This is from when my team is investigating.
Listen to this.
I heard, like, women's voices.
Like a couple of them.
What is that? Kyle describes it as a female voice.
And to go along with this, we heard something very similar on our sweep.
Is there anybody out there? Did you hear that? - Yeah, shh-shh-shh-shh.
- Did you hear that? What the hell was that? And this goes along with a lot of the witness testimony, that say that they hear women or what they believe to be witches, you know, still on the island.
Absolutely, and your team actually heard more noises inside the old cabin.
- Did you hear that? - Yes, I did hear that.
We had done a full exterior sweep of this place, it's not old broken down, there's no shutters flapping in the wind, and we weren't hearing that.
What we heard was coming from inside the cabin.
And right after this, you actually see something.
- Go look.
- You go look.
You're closer.
- Oh, my God! - Ah, (Bleep)! Shh-shh.
Come here, come here.
- I just saw something in the hallway.
- Where? - I just saw something here in the hallway.
- Where? Where? It looked like a person.
You know, I describe it as saying a shadow, but it was a shape, a dark shape moving by and.
.
I swear someone was in there with us.
Unfortunately, there's no camera facing into that room.
Dave has to actually pan the camera over there - to get an image of it.
- Right.
And by that time, whatever you saw isn't there any more.
So we went back and actually amplified the recordings from that EVP session, it seemed like there was some sort of activity in the room.
Check this out.
This is what we heard.
Is there anyone here? There's something there.
There is something there, right? I mean, it sounds like there's something there.
It's a voice, but I don't know if it's saying anything in English.
Exactly.
So we went and tried to cross reference it against Swedish, and the one thing that we got a pretty close match on is lamna har.
Listen.
And lamna har actually means "leave now".
That's a pretty strong message, and without even, you know, hearing that while we were there, that's exactly what we did.
The other piece of evidence I want to show you is visual.
While my team was investigating inside the labyrinth, Kyle saw something on his night vision scope.
Check this out.
In.
.
In the maze, there was a ball of light, like an orb of some sort, that went from here to here.
I can tell you, I've looked at a lot of video footage from these investigations.
I've never seen anything like that.
At first you think, oh, maybe it's something floating on the wind.
But it almost steps across the frame, it looks like it's walking over the rocks.
I mean this thing has a very weird profile.
People believe that labyrinth is haunted.
.
And it looks like there's something is in that labyrinth with us.
So look as a whole I think that.
.
We have a few pieces of evidence here.
But the few pieces we have are great.
- Right.
- The thing's we're hearing here and the things we're seeing here, I can't explain.
And I think that really goes along way, to supporting the legends that surround this island.
Sweden is a country alive with history.
From its celebrated capitol and Scandinavian settlements.
.
To its stunning wilderness and natural beauty but it is also a place of legend.
Of Viking lore and tales of witchcraft.
Whether Bla Jungfrun was the site of demonic rituals.
.
May never be known for sure.
But to those that make the effort to reach the island shores.
.
Take note to cast off again before sundown.
Or spend the night wondering if you're truly alone.
- Is there anyone here?
