A COLDFUSION & BAARO RELEASE As times change, difficult cases increase in number! Today's stage is a coffee shop! Is a customer to blame?! He sees the single truth for what it is, and looks like a kid but has the mind of an adult.

Conan-kun! Are you going to the movies? I wanna come too! No! I have a date! A date? With Shin'ichi! Oh, with Shin'ichi-niichan? Dad would get mad if he found out, so keep it a secret, okay? Sure! Have fun! Ran sure is dressed up Is she really that happy to go on a date with me? She can't do that! I'm Shin'ichi Kudo! Then who is she going out with?! Why would she lie like that?! I sound stupid.
Ran can go out with whoever she wants Didn't I tell you I was going on a date today? Why did you follow me? I wanted to see Shin'ichi-niichan too! But he sure is late The truth is, the person coming isn't actually Shin'ichi— Eh? Then who are you really meeting? Well? Somebody really dear to me, I guess you can say! Even more so than Shin'ichi-niichan? Don't be silly! I can't compare the two! Say, can't you go home now? I suddenly don't feel like going home I know! You like cake, don't you? I'll go buy you some now, so be a good boy and take them home! Sorry, I'll be right back! Sure! It's pointless, Ran.
With my powers of perception and deduction, I'll figure out exactly who it is you're meeting and get a good look at 'em! 'Cuz there's always only one truth! Welcome! Oh, it's just a woman.
Are you by yourself? If so, then please sit— Miss! Coffee.
Huh? Yayoi Himeno (24) Haven't you ever heard of coffee?! Go get me some! Talk about a bad attitude! Oh? She's fixated on her watch.
Could it be her? Yeah, right.
After all It's somebody really dear to me! so I doubt it.
Welcome! Are you by yourself? If so I, uh, have a paper I have to write Yuichi Sumeragi (25) I'd like a quiet seat, if possible A college student I don't think it's him, either Café au lait, please Nobody would write a paper in front of a person they're meeting A lady this time Welcome! I'm meeting someone, but they don't seem to be here yet May I get you something? Eri Kisaki (37) I guess I'll have some coffee.
Man, she's pretty! A law office? Is she an attorney? Ran wouldn't be meeting with a lawyer.
Yikes! I got her mad! Eh? Mad? All I did was look at her Hey there! Oh, Tonoyama-san! What happened to your finger? Sprained it during rugby practice.
Juzo Tonoyama (38) Can't fit my wedding ring on it now! No! It's not him! It's unlikely that someone who's going to meet someone else would go straight to the counter without looking around first.
Oh? Did you cut your hair? Yeah, I was gettin' kinda shaggy Hey, where's the bathroom? Right back there.
I see.
But it's unisex here.
I know.
Eh? Why would she know it's unisex but not know where it is? I guess it doesn't matter Back to Ran's meeting! The fact they haven't shown up yet must mean they're already here Welcome! Are you by yourself? I'm meeting a girl here, Shiro Wakaoji (21) but I guess she's not here yet.
Then please take that seat! Yeah.
Some coffee for now.
Don't tell me it's this loser! Wakaoji here! Oh, hey, Yoshio Don't be callin' when I'm about to meet a girl! It's that cute chick who toured the TV station the other day.
TV station?! The one where that producer was killed?! She's strangely innocent for girls these days! What do you mean, watch myself? Just treat girls like objects and they'll be all yours! Bastard! Yeah, I'll make sure none of my other girls find out.
See ya.
Alright, watch this! I'll use these Power Kick Shoes to bust that pretty face of yours! Edogawa-sama! Is there an Edogawa-sama here? That's me You have a call, little boy! Thanks.
Hello? Conan-kun? Ran-neechan! I'm sorry! I won't be back right away! The cash register broke, so I can't get my change! Say, has anybody come looking for me? I saw 'em.
They had long hair.
Yeah, that's them! But that's strange—their hair is usually tied Yeah they just tied it up.
Forget about meeting them, Ran-neechan.
The register's fixed! I'll be back soon! Wait! Darn it! When that long-haired jerk leaves the bathroom— What is it?! Blood?! Wait, kid! Huh? Something's blocking it! What the—?! I'm late! I bet they're mad! Huh? What's this? Did something happen here? There was a murder! A murder?! Don't tell me that person was involved?! Just as this photo shows, the victim fell to the floor with her body up against the door.
Is that right, Conan-kun? Yeah.
The door was unlocked but it wouldn't open so I looked from above.
The victim was Yayoi Himeno, 24 years old.
A single stab to the heart Inspector.
There's a thin mark on her throat, as if she had been choked! Judging from the blood splatter, the killer probably strangled her unconscious, stabbed her, and then drew the knife out to induce blood loss.
She had probably seen the killer's face This was the work of a mugger The open window and stall door The back alley just outside The empty wallet next to the murder weapon And then the victim's body, which blocked the stall door In other words, the killer entered through the window, waited for someone to come, killed Himeno-san, who just happened to come in, stole her money, and quickly escaped out the window.
Alright! This was an outside job! Investigate the surrounding area! Hold on a second, Inspector! Look at that window! Doesn't it seem too clean? What's wrong with a clean bathroom? That's not what I mean! He's right, Assistant Inspector Megure.
Oh, is it just "Inspector" now? Oh, you're Ms.
Kisaki! What are you doing here? I just happened to be in the coffee shop.
Do you know her, Inspector? Yes, she's— At any rate, judging from the amount of blood loss, the killer should have been sprayed with blood.
Yet there are no traces of blood on the window used to escape.
This is unnatural! But the killer could've wiped it off! Would a killer who hastily escaped without the murder weapon do something like that? They left it there because they couldn't take it with them! Yes.
This was an inside job! It was someone in this restaurant! That's what you want to say, right, little boy? But Kisaki-san! The body was blocking the stall door! There are no signs of the body being moved, and the other stall doesn't have a window! How did the killer leave the stall?! There is only one way.
From above.
Above? You mean that gap?! No adult could fit through that— You.
Could you try climbing it? Eh?! In the next stall, so as not to disturb the evidence.
I can just manage to fit See? But if the killer was covered in blood, there should be blood on the wall too! Luckily, there's water and paper in here to wipe it off.
They could've had it planned out to not leave any traces! But what if someone accidentally walked in and saw them?! Oh, you didn't notice? The restroom door has a lock.
Locking it would make this room impenetrable.
Alright! Find everyone who came in here around the time the victim did! I know who did! I just happened to see! Really? There was that big guy over there, that guy who didn't shave, and that snobby ponytail guy! And this lady too! You used the restroom too?! I did, now that you mention it.
You have a good memory, little boy Thanks Now then, can you tell us why you came here today, in order of who used the restroom? Yes, I came here today to write my paper Graduate Student Yuichi Sumeragi (25) I went in next, while the victim was still inside.
Attorney Eri Kisaki (37) I came here to meet someone.
I went in next.
University Rugby Coach Juzo Tonoyama (38) I come here almost everyday to chat with the bartender.
I was the last one to go in.
Advertising Agency Employee Shiro Wakaoji (21) I was waiting for a girl.
Is that the order they went in, Conan-kun? Yes What could it be? Something seems different from before That was an easy fit.
You're next, Wakaoji-san.
Yeah.
Doesn't look like I can fit! Ow! Hey, now! I guess you really couldn't, huh? Do I have to do it too? No.
You'd never fit.
Kisaki-san, I take it you don't need to? Yes, I'm sure I could easily fit.
It would seem this narrows the suspects down to Sumeragi-san and myself.
No, of course I don't suspect you! Inspector! We found this rope on Sumeragi-san's table! What?! Sumeragi-san! Is this yours?! That's just some string I use to tie my books together! I'm not the killer! Honest! He entered the restroom before the victim; he didn't do it.
She asked the bartender where the restroom was.
This was probably a sign to let the killer know that she was going into the restroom! Which means the only person in the coffee shop then who could have done it was Ms.
Kisaki! Inspector.
Can we take the knife down to the station? Yes, that's fine.
Understood.
Let me see that! Hey, kid! This knife is odd! Why is there blood on the handle?! And why is there no blood on this narrow part?! There's blood on my palm! But I never even touched the body! I must've gotten it when I looked over the stall! What was blood doing up there? I seriously doubt the body put it there! Now I understand the killer's real trick! No doubt about it! Only that person could've done this! But I have no proof! That's enough of your detective game, little boy! This is grownup work! Learn your place as a child! But, uh— A wedding ring! This is it! If my logic is correct, it'll be definitive proof! Alright, Sumeragi-san.
I have to ask you to come to the station.
Eh?! I didn't kill anyone! Oh! There's blood up here! Oh, I found that too when I was taking photos of the scene.
Why didn't you say so sooner?! Anyway, Sumeragi-san.
You're starting to look more and more suspicious You can't be serious But isn't it strange? The blood was on the top of the door that the body was blocking.
If it were me, I would use the toilet to climb into the next stall over.
You do have a point And I wonder if the killer really was sprayed with blood Eh? Just take a look at that bag! Even the handle is covered in blood! Yes, that is strange.
But what's this part that has no blood on it? Something might've been tied there.
Aha! The killer tied a string to it, stabbed her, and then pulled it out after leaving the stall! The blood sprayed out when the knife was removed! But then why is there blood up there if the killer wasn't sprayed with any? Because it wasn't the killer who went over the stall, it was the body that did.
The body went over it?! The blood above the door got there when the victim was being dumped into the stall.
The killer stabbed her outside the stall, threw the body into it, and blocked the door.
The knife was then pulled out with a tug on the string.
This way, if it were discovered to be an inside job, the killer could avoid suspicion due to being unable to fit over the stall door.
Are you saying the killer was— You, Tonoyama-san! Alright! Take this man into custody! Can you really arrest me without proof? Of course we have proof! Right, Kisaki-san? No.
Even if you did arrest him, it would only take me a few hours to prove his innocence.
Naturally! I only came here today to chat with the bartender! Yeah, I heard you! You sprained your finger playing rugby! Now my wedding ring won't fit— Oh? Don't people wear wedding rings on their left ring finger? Your bandage was on your ring finger when you entered the coffee shop.
Maybe you refastened it in the bathroom? That's it! That bandage was the string used to strangle the victim and it was tied to the knife! Which means the victim's blood should be on it! My, my.
What a foolish criminal you are to keep this kind of evidence on you.
Not even I could defend you in court! Move, woman! Whoa! A one-armed shoulder throw! Let go, damn you! Huh? I've seen that shoulder throw somewhere before Thanks to the female attorney, the killer was arrested without incident.
Apparently, he did it because he was having an affair with the victim, and she threatened to tell his wife if he didn't marry her.
Now to do something about this snob who's meeting Ran.
Ran! Sorry I'm so late! I didn't mean to! Jerk! Hey, what did you mean by, "Just treat girls like objects and they'll be all yours?!" Eh? Earlier, he said— Wait! Kid! Nice to meet you! Who is this guy? Eh? Did he really say that, Conan-kun?! Ah, Sonoko-chan! You did, didn't you?! There must be some mistake— Wait, Sonoko-chan! Oh, he was waiting for Sonoko? Then who was Ran waiting for?! Oh, are you dressed like that again? Didn't I tell you it's not good to wear short skirts? You don't need to keep treating me like a kid, Mom! M-Mo— Eh?! He was very remarkable earlier! The case was solved thanks to him! Isn't that right, Conan-kun? Oh, I don't think he likes me Of course I don't! You yelled at me and Ran all the time when we were kids! I practically became allergic to you! It's already been 10 years since you left What brought that up? And in 10 years, you've forgotten my face I was just thinking you should come back to Dad soon Forget that! I despise that lazy, filthy, womanizing drunk! The only things I've gained from him are you and that shoulder throw Then why did you marry him? We grew up together.
Then what's with the wedding ring? A bug repellant to keep annoying men away.
You're so stubborn! Not so fast, Matsuo-san! I must ask you to— This is a clip of when Dad solved that case at the TV station! Didn't you say you wanted to see it? Here is the phone call that was the key to solving the case.
My wife? It's alright! We don't live together! Let's have a passionate night tonight! It's not what you think! He was— It seems I can't go back just yet.
Ran.
