Earth: Final Conflict s03e02 Episode Script

The Vanished

Previously on Gene Roddenberry's Earth Final Conflict: This just in: there's been an explosion on the Taelon mother ship.
The space craft was sabotaged by Capt.
Lili Marquette, she has died in the blast.
I understand your grief, but the Taelons are within their right to do with her body as they see fit.
With Sandoval around people have a way of disappearing.
She saw our faces, and knows our names.
For all we know she could be a Taelon double agent.
Doors International has formed a new alliance with the Taelons.
the real work will be in the capable hands of my new division head, Renee Palmer.
I hereby order the immediate return to Earth all suspected Resistance prisoners on the Taelon mother ship.
I wanna make sure everyone of those prisoners gets back to Earth.
Hello there, Ty, I was wondering when you'd come back.
So, what do you think? You look fine.
I'm sensing some hesitation.
You need to be honest with Vonda.
Don't take this the wrong way, but I kinda liked the bikini better.
That's more like it.
I appreciate a man who knows what he likes.
Who's your friend? Vonda.
I thought you had a test tomorrow.
I do, I was just Yes? Taking a break.
Well, the break's over.
Say goodnight to Vonda.
Time for bed.
Did I interrupt something? - No.
- No, we're just having man to man talk.
Yeah, dad was just filling me in.
Well, then I will say goodnight.
Well, we're through here.
See you in the morning.
- Hey, dad.
- Yeah? Thanks for not Just thanks, dad.
Oh, Vonda She's kinda cute.
Vonda.
Get her! Taelon security! Take your hands off of her! This is against the law, you don't have the right! - Leave them alone, you bastards! - Lawrence Jantzen, you're under arrest.
The hell are you doing? - Maybe we should take you too? - No! Ty, everything is really fine.
It's just a misunderstanding! Get him out of here! Lawrence, I'm gonna find out where you're, okay? - Lawrence? - Shut up! - Take care of your mom, Ty! - Lawrence! Lawrence! Oh, God, oh, God! Axarion They have come to Earth with the promise of peace.
An alien race called the Taelons.
But, there are those who resist these Alien Companions.
For the Taelons' true mission, the secrets they hide will forever alter our world.
The fate of humanity now relies on those who dare challenge the future of Earth.
After the state of emergency was lifted I arrived at the transport depot and I waited for my husband.
But Lawrence never showed up.
When I checked with volunteer services, they said that he had been released with the other detainees.
Now they say they have no record of him.
Have you gone to the police, Mrs.
Jantzen? What good would that do? Perhaps, your husband disappeared for reasons of his own? Reasons you may not be aware of.
The reason is that six thugs with implants dragged him out of my house right in front of my son's eyes! I assure both of you, that I will look into this matter.
No, you won't.
You won't look into anything.
This will just be swept under the carpet like everything else Taelon.
Liam it is time we return to the mother ship.
My husband isn't the only one.
There are others missing, too.
I'll help you find your husband.
Why should we believe you? Because I'm giving you my word.
That doesn't mean much coming from a Companion Protector.
Come on, Ty They've given us their five minutes.
Come on, we don't have a lot of time.
I'm saving your life, and at this moment I'm the only one who even knows you're still alive.
- What are you talking about? - Zo'or ordered your execution.
Thanks to me and an incredibly looking android the whole world now thinks you're dead.
Lucky me.
- You'll be dead if the volunteers find you.
- What about the other prisoners? Focus on your own well-being for the moment, Captain.
And why should I trust you? Sometimes you're just have to go on fate.
If you still got any left.
Come on.
About half of our contacts have gone underground.
What about the other half? Most of them are too afraid to have anything to do with the Resistance anymore.
Find anything more on Lawrence Jantzen? No, but there are cases just like his all over the world.
People, who the Taelons supposedly released, they never made it back to Earth.
How convenient! Hundreds were detained but no one seems to have a precise accounting.
The old paper shuffle routine.
Seems like the Taelons have learned our bureaucratic ways.
We need to find these people before they get permanently shuffled.
Who're you working for? Everything will become clear in time.
Right now concern yourself with landing the shuttle.
I've never had any problems landing this shuttle.
No, but then you've never had to exit interdimensional space and land in a room, have you? I's for our own protection.
We can't risk being detected by the Taelons in the open space.
Here are the coordinates.
Do you have any idea how small that space is? As a matter of fact, I do.
I don't have any room to maneuver! I suggest you lock in those coordinates before the Taelons realize they're missing a shuttle.
Alright.
Seems I have more confidence in you than you in yourself.
Now that I got you here, you tell me what's going on.
Patience, Captain Marquette.
May I be frank, Da'an? I would hope so, Ms.
Palmer.
I've heard rumors.
Word on the street is that some of the detainees that were rounded up during the state of emergency haven't exactly been reintegrated into society.
I have heard these rumors.
Maybe I shouldn't even bring this up, but I must say.
It's a brilliant idea.
I would've done the same thing.
Would you? I'm no fan of the Resistance.
I refuse to even discuss the issue with Jonathan, which is why I think he hired me.
What I'm trying to say is this: If you ever want to loan out few of those detainees, I always need test subjects.
Anything to expedite FDA approval.
Welcome home, Lili.
Excuse me, ma'am.
This is a security building.
I'll need to call before you go upstairs.
Right, um I'm here to see Mr.
Ronald Sandoval.
And your name is? Oh, well, Ronnie likes to call me a lot of things.
Depends on his mood.
I'm sorry, ma'am, but Mr.
Sandoval doesn't appear to be home.
Oh, no, he's home, alright? Believe me, he's been waiting for this all week long.
He's probably just indisposed at the moment, but I'm sure he left his door open.
If you know what I mean.
- You know where you're going? - Oh, so well.
Hello.
It's a relatively painless procedure.
You should be up and running in a couple of hours.
Change is good, Captain.
Even if it doesn't seem so at the time.
How are her vitals? Perfect.
She's one healthy girl.
Just make sure she stays that.
Mr.
Brogan? Yeah.
Liam Kincaid.
Just like to ask you a few questions.
What's this all about? Lawrence Jantzen.
Ah, let's talk over here.
I understand you and Jantzen were responsible for an anti-Taelon news group.
Sites have already been taken offline.
I have nothing to do with that anymore.
It's not why I'm here.
You and Jantzen shared a cell on the mother ship after your arrest.
That's right.
So? Jantzen never made it home.
I'm trying to find out what happened to him.
And you're asking me? Last time I saw Larry, we were about to board a Taelon transport back to Earth.
There were so many people.
People from all over the world.
So we lost track of each other in the crowd.
Haven't seen or heard from him since.
Who are you? Why are you here? Who's holding you here? Someone talk to me! Well, your implant's working perfectly, Captain Marquette.
I see you've met our other guests.
May I? Just stop looking at your watch, old buddy.
Because time has no meaning here.
Yeah, you're right.
Yeah, right.
Yeah, well, you'll find I'm right about a lot of things, Larry.
What are you doing? I'm trying rigging a transmitter using the battery in my watch.
It's photo-voltaic.
Solar powered.
It won't be able to send out a continuous signal in this light, but it'll be able to send out enough of message, to let someone know we're still alive.
Larry, They catch you with that thing, they'll kill you.
Eventually, they'll do that anyway.
But people know we're missing.
They'll come and find us.
You don't understand.
No one cares about a few missing people.
How can you say that? The world is an emporium.
All anyone cares about is having the newest Taelon hardware in their living rooms.
That's why we're losing our freedom to these aliens every day.
Excuse me, sir, you can't go in there.
It's alright, Marie.
I've been expecting him.
Well, I don't believe we formally met.
Well, that's funny, I feel like we're already know each other.
What can I do for you, Major? Or should I call you Liam? Sandoval's got half the FBI looking for the rogue volunteer who busted Augur and me out of that safe house.
And how long before he figures out it's me? I wish I could tell you, but it's not like you're keeping a low profile.
Especially for a man as dangerous as Sandoval.
Well, I can be a little dangerous myself.
Yeah.
I've seen that firsthand.
So, what are we gonna do about our friend Ronnie? We? Not only did I save your life, I had to kill someone to do it.
Still wondering if you can trust me, huh? Trust isn't coming that easy these days.
Is that the reason you had to see Peter Brogan in the park today? Can't say I'm familiar with that name.
Let's not play games, Major.
We're looking for the same person.
Lawrence Jantzen.
You have very beautiful legs, Captain.
Which is why I suggest you never try run away again.
You see, a 900 volt charge from this taser will paralyze you, and make it very difficult to walk afterwards.
Who are you people? Who do you work for? Now, why would you assume I work for somebody? I mean, do I look like the type of guy that will take orders from anybody? What kind of CVI did you shove into my brain, you bastard?! Why don't you take a look and see for yourself? Where's the camera? Where is it? Your eyes and ears belong to us now.
When I learned the Volunteer Corps had located Doors' safe house, I had to get to him before they did.
Only you got me and Augur instead.
So, tell me about Jantzen.
I received this transmission.
Pardon me for asking, but how do you know this is from Jantzen? Because it's a coded distress signal sent on a frequency known only to him and a few others.
Then you're not sure it's from him or if he's even still alive.
No, but this is bigger than just Jantzen.
Do you have any idea how many people the Taelons have made disappear? - I have some idea.
- No, I don't think you do.
What's this? The names of everyone who's vanished.
Let's walk.
You wanna tell me where you got this? You'll find Jantzen under J along with hundreds of others who never seemed to find their way home.
What's your connection to Jantzen? He was part of secret Resistance cell that helped me infiltrate Taelon security.
Then why come to me? Because if we can filter that transmission, we might be able to find Jantzen, and God only knows how many others.
Now, why waste needless time contemplating your escape? Besides, you need to concern your energy.
Don't do this! - Remove your cloths.
- Do what she says.
There's no need to be frightened.
This will just help to prepare you.
Prepare me for what? I almost didn't recognize you without your uniform.
Well, I put this on specially for you.
- Looks like you up and running again.
- No thanks to you.
Shouldn't been so damn persistent.
Well, if I had known that Doors had special plans for you, I wouldn't have gone to all the trouble.
I didn't even know his plans.
Here it is.
You know, with all the resources of Doors International why have me unscramble the signal? Given the sensitivity of the subject, I'd rather not use my normal channels.
But the frequency is still being monitored for any new signs of activity.
This is going to take a while.
We don't have a while.
Or Jantzen might disappear forever.
Any luck tracking down that rogue volunteer? Not yet.
Sorry, to hear that.
Sandoval's pressing you? It's Sandoval's nature to press.
Well, you better produce some results, don't want Ronnie to lose any sleep.
- What do you tell him? - That I'm closing in.
Only he knew how well you do your job.
Well, you should've had a better exit strategy.
I did, I just got sidetracked saving your ass.
If you think this is going away, you better think again.
If I don't give him something soon, Sandoval will assign more agents to the investigation.
It'll be that much harder to protect you.
I can protect myself.
I'll get you out of this.
I owe you one, right? You checked out that list of missing persons I gave you? Yes, not a trace anywhere.
They just disappeared along with their records.
It's as if these people never even existed.
Take a look at this.
- Who'd ever imagine Sandoval doodled? - How'd you get this? I swear I never even touched his desk.
You should check out his apartment sometime, nice art collection.
This is an invoice number.
I tracked it to a company called Alcott Incorporated.
Never heard of them.
They manufacture CVI technology.
If the Taelons are planning to implant these missing people We can kiss what's left of the Resistance goodbye.
Dr.
Alcott designed a special CVI for Sandoval.
What do you mean by special CVI? Alcott said it was designed for counter intelligence.
So, what's Sandoval planning? When it comes to alien implants the possibilities are endless.
That's comforting.
He also said these new CVIs are more adaptable.
Adaptable how? They can be used in a number of hostile environments.
Even those outside our solar system.
You think they're taking prisoners off planet? They've done it before.
We picked up another transmission form Jantzen.
We only got a 2 seconds blip, but this time we where it originated.
Give me the location.
It's less than a mile from here.
Let's go.
This doesn't feel right.
Strange, the signal's coming from the exterior of this building.
Yeah, I can see that, but that means Jantzen's outside.
Not the best place to confine somebody against their will.
Maybe he escaped or incapacitated.
Yeah, maybe he's dead, and we're being set up.
Standard issue for corporate execs? Can't let you have all the fun.
It's coming from behind that dumpster.
I'll circle around, wait for my signal.
It's time we talked about your friend who infiltrated the Volunteer Corps.
I told you I never met her.
Well, unfortunately, that's not the answer I was looking for.
You know, I understand you not wanting to give me the name.
Really I do.
Names are so personal.
Makes it seem all the more like a betrayal, so All I ask is a small detail, something that will, matter of fact, accomplish the same end.
I can't tell you what I don't know.
Shame.
You won't have any more fatherly talks with your son! I don't know.
Maybe he doesn't know anything.
You think the Captain has any idea what Sandoval has in store for her? If she did, I'm sure she would've killed herself by now.
How are her lungs? Level of oxygenation is at 83%.
When she's out of the tub, put her back in the clean room.
For some reason Jantzen wasn't able to transmit directly.
He must've piggybacked a global number nearby.
Which would explain the transient.
Define nearby.
Radius of 10 to 12 city blocks.
That's one square mile.
Let's hope Augur can narrow it down.
Get your men out of here.
I want the place destroyed afterwards.
I never leave a trace.
That's why you pay me the big buck, Agent Sandoval.
So, what do you want me to do with her? Nah, I'm just kidding, baby.
I should've known you're behind this.
If you only knew all the planning that went into this I suspect you might be a little more appreciative, Captain.
My blood.
It's black.
You should be more careful.
We wouldn't want anything to happen to you, especially after everything you've been through.
You no longer has Earth-based physiology.
Even if you managed to escape, you wouldn't last 12 hours on this planet.
Don't worry.
You'll be departing soon.
Look, see? That has to be where they're being kept.
I mean, how many people you know with bars on the inside of their windows? This part of town, more than you think.
- There's much to go on.
- Oh, I wouldn't say that exactly.
Look what I found when I enhanced the image.
It's a steeple.
This woman has mighty powers of observation.
Yeah, yeah.
You see that little dot in the corner? Watch this.
It's the Concord.
Few airports in the US allow them to land there anymore because of the noise.
Can't believe they still fly these old birds with the portal travel available.
You wanna tell us what the relevance is? That's where you found the transient, right? Well, there's only one Concord flight out of Dallas Airport at 2 pm.
And given the angle of the sunlight through that window, I'd say that that plane would have to be travelling in an easterly direction.
Then we should use this area here as the epicenter for our search.
Exactly.
This is what I've been preparing you for.
I wanted you to be comfortable, it's gonna be a long flight.
Where the hell are you sending me? You needn't worry about details.
The shuttle's on autopilot.
Just sit back and enjoy the flight.
One of these days, Sandoval, someone's gonna find you out, and when they do, you're dead.
I just hope I get to be the one that pulls the trigger! And to think - I saved you from the Taelons.
- You should let Zo'or kill me.
When you wake up, I'm sure you'll understand.
The restrains will release once you reach your destination.
Don't look so sad.
It's not like we'll never see each other again.
Remember, Captain.
Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.
Godspeed.
If we separate we can cover more ground.
Right.
I got nothing here.
Me neither.
Wait.
Meet me at 4th and Grover.
That's it, that's the window.
Let's go.
How many abandoned buildings do you know that have security systems? Maybe it's not so abandoned after all.
We'll escape for good.
No one has to know.
I would know.
We pay you.
How much do you want? And end up in one of Sandoval's tanks? I don't think so.
Chin up, by now your families probably think you're all dead anyway.
It look like it's time to go interdimensional ourselves.
So much for keeping a low profile.
- I can't see who's firing at us.
- Me neither.
Think you can cover me? Front side and back side.
Looks like we're in the right place.
Yep.
And now you owe me twice.
Last call.
Over here! Somebody help us! Come on! Get us out of here! I guess we're almost even now.
Not yet.
Hey, come on.
Come on, let's go.
- Can you disarm it? - Yeah, but not in time.
Forget it, go! Let's go! Come on! Come on, let's go, go, go, go! - We're not gonna make it! - Now what? Let's go, move it! Come on! Get down! Hey, guys.
Jack.
- You okay? - Yeah, alright.
Thank you.
Thank your son.
I suggest you and your friends take off before someone starts asking questions.
Let's go, guys.
Find me.
I discovered the identity of the rogue volunteer.
Good work, Major.
Are you sure this is the right woman? Fits the profile: blond, implant and on duty the same night Doors' safe house was raided.
Final thing that convinced me? What's that? Vosser was operating a secret facility downtown.
She was holding 6 detainees that were supposedly released.
Any reason to believe in might be someone else? No.
No.
You knew Vosser, didn't you? Obviously not well enough.
One never knows who to trust these days.
That's right, Major.
Too bad we can't blame the Resistance for everything.
Sometimes it's the people you least expect.
You should've seen Sandoval's face when I told him.
I think he actually believes Vosser betrayed him.
I guess I'm off the hook then.
Then my debt's paid in full.
You want kids? I don't know.
Maybe.
Scared? No.
No, I'm just not sure if I wanna bring them into this world.
