Earth: Final Conflict s05e21 Episode Script

The Journey

Previously on Gene Roddenberry's Earth Final Conflict: The last chapter of the book reveals the location of Askhenaton's tomb along with his burial mask.
The eyes of the mask are inset with specials gems.
If you look through them, the location of other tombs is revealed.
Will the mask reveal the location of other tombs or its powers are just a myth? Myths and legends are always missing something.
We're concerned about reports that a hybrid vaccine is being fast track for development.
The antidote must be destroyed.
Renée told me some really good things about you.
If you haven't noticed, her feelings for you go a little beyond professional admiration.
You're right.
This is different Normal.
Normal is good.
Food's not bad either.
It's a priority from the field.
- Frequency's jamming.
- Patch it through the mainframe.
Come on.
Captain, it's Kirby, Sir! I portaled off from the main unit to do my own reckon and walked right into a world of Kirby, what's your 20? I'm in southeast D.
C, Sir.
Some, some hybrid hellhole.
Cover's blown.
You're the closest.
I'm sending coordinates now.
- Did you get them? - Got them.
Let's go.
Kirby! Renée, they got Kirby.
Kirby! OK, Kirby, I got you.
Renée! In the twenty-first century, an alien species known as the Taelons came to Earth with a promise of peace.
They lied Their true agenda was to dominate us.
After years of struggle the Taelons have perished leaving more aggressive beings in their wake, the Atavus.
My name is Renée Palmer.
My mission is to stop this new species from dominating our planet.
This is Earth Final Conflict.
Season 5 Episode 21 The Journey - Put the guns down, not necessary.
- It's OK.
I'm Renée Palmer.
This man's just been hybridized.
Relax, guys.
We figured we'd portal him straight to the place where the vaccine has been produced.
I understand, Miss Palmer, and I apologize for all the hullabaloo, but our security's on high alert these days.
The scanner alarm's set to go off at the slightest read of any alien signature.
Take him to ISU and get him prepped.
It's OK.
We'll take good care of him.
It's OK.
Let me show you what we're working on.
Come on.
Our first 10,000 units of vaccine have passed our rigorous 12-point testing format, and are being bio-sealed in this area here and then packaged for distribution here.
Nice set-up.
Very impressive.
Listen, Renée, I got to check on Kirby.
You should head back to the lair.
You sure? Yeah - Sf that's alright with Dr.
Spangler.
- Lorraine, and it's quite alright.
You better cover your flanks, Captain.
I think she's been cooped up in this lab for too long.
I think I can take care of myself.
- Promise? - Promise.
Raj'el? Yes, it is I, Miss Palmer.
Still on the mothership, I take it.
Still a prisoner by choice? There are contradictions inherent within every species in the universe, Renée.
We all share this conundrum this inner struggle between good and evil.
And your refusal to recognize this could lead to catastrophic consequences.
So, what, you came all this way to lecture me? No, to warn you.
You are about to enter the final conflict, and it would bode well for you to know your enemy.
I know them all too well.
Yes, but I have also seen what humanity can do in the face of alien aggression.
- And your point is? - My point is one would hope that your perception of the Atavus had shifted toward a more compassionate stance, especially since your close encounter with Howlyn's son, Yulyn.
Don't move Don't move.
I'll get you home.
How do you know about him? We share a commonality now.
Made possible by the infusion of core energy bequeathed to you by Da'an.
Da'an gave it to me as a last-ditch measure for Taelon survival against the dark matter.
True, but it was for your survival as well.
You see, Renée, our destinies are intertwined.
She cannot be joined! As long as you keep messing with my head.
I am only trying to prepare you.
See there you go again, talking like a true Taelon.
Utterly vague, - utterly inscrutable.
- Then let me be clear.
We are all connected, Renée.
We are all one.
A gift from a friend.
You must heed its call.
Darling, the eyes have it, so they say, and these bejewelled eyes hold a vision meant only for the likes of Askhenaton or you.
I could have auctioned them at Sotheby's for a sizable sum, but after our experiences under the sphinx, I wouldn't want to pass the curse on to anyone.
Press them against your baby blues and aim them at the constellation Osiris, love.
Your destiny beckons.
I wish you safe journey and all the best.
Love, Raleigh.
We are abandoning our stationary orbit to avoid the incoming asteroid shower.
Navigation has located a protective canyon at celestial set points 0-8-6.
After landing, we will initiate stasis protocols for your army, your guardians.
Long life to you, Howlyn.
We shall rise to serve you again.
How you're feeling, Sergeant? What's happening to me, Cap? I feel like I'm being swallowed up by something huge.
Hey, it's alright.
That's the alien DNA talking, all right, hang in there.
- The serum will flush it out.
- When? I can feel my heart pounding in my ears.
Why'd you bring me here? You, you got to get me out of here now.
I'm telling you, this place is - Here she comes.
- Who? What seems to be the problem, Captain? I think my Sergeant is having some sort of side effect from the antidote, Doctor.
It's Lorraine.
And that's to be expected during the initial phase of treatment.
His human DNA is reasserting itself, while the alien genetic material is dying off.
Actually, his suffering is a good sign.
You hear that, Kirby? You'll be fine.
His wounds may have slowed his progress down some.
What he really needs, Captain, is some rest.
Why don't you come down with me to the lab? The first vaccine shipment is ready for delivery at the army distribution center, and I'd like your assurance that everything's in order.
Sure.
What is it? Keep your sidearm with you.
You summoned me, Miss Palmer? I did.
Mapping crystals from the mask of Askhenaton.
They they contain a digital archive from the Atavus starship.
So, I just have a question for you.
Do you know where Howlyn's ship is? If I told you, what would you do? - Destroy it.
- As well as the Atavus on board? What choice have they left us? Never mind that they might be innocent of any transgression? Innocent? Understand this, Raj'el.
I will do anything, anything to defend our planet against another alien incursion.
Given what you know Given what your species has experienced, is such an aggressive outlook, realistic? Aliens have been coming to Earth for eons, Renée.
And they will continue to come, despite your efforts to discourage them.
It would be natural to respond to the Taelon arrival with fear and misgiving.
But from our first moments on your planet, you have shown open arms and warmth of heart.
We wish to nurture the spirit of fellowship between scientists of Earth and Taelon.
To help usher in a new era for humankind.
Look, we didn't ask for aliens to come to our planet To take on the form of our most beautiful creatures, and then viciously attack us, to wage all-out war against us, to cause us massive pain and suffering.
Nor has any other sentient species.
The desire to avoid pain and suffering is a universal one, but it is now time for you to understand, Renée, that humanity is linked to all of the alien species that have inhabited your planet.
Hold on a moment There's something down there.
What the hell is this thing? Taelon, Kimera, Jaridian, Atavus, Human it does not matter.
We are all running from the same physical and emotional agonies.
What do you want? We are Atavus.
And this is our world, Human.
Not yours.
Please You Taelons "Came in peace," and you tried to divide and conquer us.
Yes.
Our fear of extinction took us away from our core mission statement, led us into darkness.
We grossly violated humanity's trust.
So then, what's hard to understand here? If aliens weren't so bent on destroying us, we wouldn't be in the business of destroying them.
I'll ask you one more time: Do you or do you not know where the Atavus ship is? No, I do not.
Fine.
I'll call Street and Augur, have them take a look at this.
I'll notify Hubble and Boone get Michaels too, call up the joint chiefs.
Not everyone will be able to join you on this journey, Renée.
Oh, what do you mean? I regret Deeply regret to inform you that William Boone is dead.
I believe the 4th mechanized division has been assigned transport.
Tell me something, Lorraine.
Why's the antidote in this vial a different color than the one you're giving Sergeant Kirby? Well, there are variable strains of vaccine, depending on the patients blood type or genetic make-up.
You said your security scanner would detect any sort of alien signature.
Yes.
Renée Palmer has Taelon core energy integrated into her physiology.
But of course, you knew that, didn't you? No, I did not.
Seal all exits.
Don't let him outside! Go, go! He's dead? - How do you know Boone's dead? - Just as I am connected to you by core energy, so, too, was I connected to William Boone.
When that link was severed, I knew.
I am sorry for your loss, Renée.
I'm definitely not going to turn on you.
And I've been dead for three years.
I plan on living a while this time around.
Stay back.
Stay with them.
You'll never get me out in time.
Let's go! Let's move! Don't put any weight on that till tomorrow.
Keep it elevated.
Lots of rest, lots of ice.
Let me help you.
- Where do you want to go? - OK, doc Wherever you want to take me.
A hybrid outbreak at a deportation center.
He tried to negotiate.
How many more times, Raj'el? How many more times do I have to go through this? It is not for me to say.
What are you saying? That it's my destiny to lose everyone I care about? I know this little inn just south of Santa Cruz.
You can almost hear the ocean breathe.
Yeah.
Maybe I'll take you there someday.
As long as we're together it doesn't matter where we are.
Explain what you were doing in an area restricted to Taelons.
All I'm required to do is tell you my name.
Marlowe, Jeffrey Thomas, First Lt, Volunteer Security Sorps.
Answer me! Go to hell.
Take him away.
There will be consequences to this treason.
Yes.
You have lost many and endured much, but when the time comes, when you can see past your grief, you will realize this has all been preparation for your future.
Future? What future? I've seen the future, and it's overrun by aliens.
Come on, Sergeant.
We're bugging out.
- What's going on, Cap? - No time to explain.
Come on, soldier.
Find your feet.
Come on, let's go.
I appreciate that, Cap, but You're coming with me.
Walk! Keep walking.
Leave me alone.
What if I were to tll you the time has come for you to relinquish your role - in defending your planet? - What? Surrender? Your destiny is on the Mothership, Renée.
- I have told you this.
- And I'm telling you, Earth is my home.
My permanent address, not some floating Taelon tomb.
You think you can control your path? No.
No more than William Boone could his, or any of the others.
Do you recall Lili Marquette, the Resistance fighter? For her, the resistance against alien oppression came first.
Before anything, before anyone.
She had no semblance of a normal life.
And then she was betrayed by those she swore to protect, other humans.
They sent her to a strange, new world, Jaridia.
Somewhere along the way, this world became her own.
Vorjak.
It's the hypermetabolic agents.
Human blood chemistry cannot neutralize them.
She needs Taelon energy.
Energy that allows them to live for centuries.
It has begun! Her time is here! And only in this world, an alien world, did Lily finally understand her highest purpose To give birth to a child.
She's beautiful! Our child.
Our salvation.
A path inconceivable at the start of her journey.
Would you not agree? She was put in that position.
She was - kidnapped, tortured, exiled.
- No, she chose to embrace the path put before her.
Yeah, and Boone? No, William Boone fought his destiny every step of the way.
The communion of our two cultures calls out for visionaries, who believe that we will both flourish from such a bonding.
Down! There! We offer the chance to become a voice in the shaping of humanity's future.
Thank you, but I am afraid I have to decline your offer.
May I know your reasoning? My wife and I are happy here.
We're planning on starting a family, and that's where my priority is right now.
- It's not a time for change.
- We can work around that.
His heart and mind were never fully committed to being a warrior.
So, what are you saying, Raj'el? That, if you don't get on the universe's great treadmill, you're expendable? And Liam Kincaid? What about him? You must agree that the Major pursued life beyond mere mortal aspirations.
Sacrificing his own existence to save humanity.
Liam.
My name is Liam.
Oh my God.
I got a friend, who's dying in a hospital bed.
I don't care about anything anymore, except making him well.
Not me, not you and not right or wrong.
Was he a hypocrite, or a higher being following his destiny? I really have no idea.
All I see are human lives ruined by savage and remorseless aliens.
What I hoped you would see, were human lives transcending Earth-based belief systems, reaching for something greater than themselves.
Human, Taelon, Jaridian, Atavus, Kimera - we are all in this together, Renée.
- In what? The journey.
Don't do this, Kirby.
We can still get you the vaccine.
You're not one of them.
You're an airborne Ranger, you hear me? Thank you, Sergeant.
Don't listen to her, Kirby.
Don't even look at her.
You're one of the best soldiers in my unit.
Don't give up on me now.
Don't give up? He's won, as have we, Captain.
And by the time the world realizes we've tainted the vaccine, the hybrid race will be doubled.
What do you think about your troops' loyalty now? You took an oath to our country, Sergeant.
You swore to lay down your life, if necessary.
- Same oath you took, Sir.
- That's right.
The same oath I took.
And I'm gonna help you get there.
It's been a pleasure serving with you, Sir.
Kirby! No! What do you think of my loyalty now? Find Michaels.
Eliminate him.
Renée Come in.
Plant infested with hybrids Launch full perimeter assault.
Brent! Come on, come on.
Hi, beautiful.
Thanks for bringing the cavalry.
Kirby, he's in the lobby.
Get him out of there now! - Easy, We'll find him, OK? - He's going into shock.
- We have to get him inside, stat.
- They're going to take good care of you.
- Come on.
- No, wait, wait.
- Spangler.
- Up.
You leave her to me.
We're back to square one, Palmer.
There's no vaccine.
No stopping us.
We'll see about that.
How is he? He's critical, Renée.
The rounds he's taken to his torso were frags.
They pierced a lung, upper ventricle, lacerated his liver and spleen.
All I could do was clamp and tie off.
It's a miracle that he has lasted this long.
- But he will recover? - Look I'm a combat surgeon.
I'm not in the business of handing out false hope.
I'm sorry.
You've beaten the odds before.
And I'm with you.
We're in this together.
I'm not gonna let you die.
I'll do whatever it takes.
What are you doing here? Your pain is my pain.
It has been that way for some time now.
I know you carried a great deal of love for this human.
Carried? He's still here.
And you must let him go now.
No! Your human physicians have done all they can.
There's got to be another way.
What about my core energy? What if I give it to him? Death is a part of the cycle, Renée.
It has its time and place.
It cannot be avoided.
Consider those who have tried and have failed.
It's too late.
I'm dead already.
I've just been on hold for a while.
What's happened to you? I'm dying.
No time for goodbyes, Renée.
I just need to see this thing through.
I Understand.
It's his destiny now, and we're not part of it.
You fear his passing, that he will leave you to continue your battle alone, but that is not so.
Only his physical form is dying.
And I'm supposed to take comfort in that? We are all connected, Renée.
And, whether they are dead or alive, Human or alien, good or evil, everyone who has crossed your path has done so in order to prepare you for your final conflict.
The real work will be in the capable hands of my new division head, Renée Palmer.
Killing you will be a pleasure, Miss Palmer.
I thought you were dead.
You can't get rid of me that easy.
I finally know who I am and who I'm not.
I can live with that.
And I can die with that.
Can you not see that? No.
No, I don't see that.
You think everyone's just a pawn in your big cosmic game, don't you? Well, they're not.
He's not.
Don't tell me there's no hope.
There is.
Spangler was a hybrid working for the Atavus, right? So, it stands to reason that she'd try altering the vaccine - to create hybrids rather than cure them.
- What's your point? Atavus' wounds can regenerate.
If any of these still contain pure atavan DNA, then they could possibly save Captain Michaels.
- By turning him into a hybrid? - Exactly.
You're way out of bounds, here.
Not if it saves his life.
We can reverse the hybrid process later.
He's critical.
It's unstable.
If we attempt a genetic transfer right now, his body will never be able to handle the shock.
He won't survive the night, Doctor, you said so yourself.
And I'm not about to let him die, you understand? So, if you won't run these through the lab and test them, I'll find someone who will! It's OK.
It's atavan DNA.
No It can help you regenerate.
I don't want to lose you.
Your wounds They're regenerating.
I love you.
I love you too.
Stay the course.
Why did you have to come here? Any of you? Taelons, Jaridians, Atavus.
Why did you have to come here? All of us were compelled to make the journey by something greater than ourselves.
Every corner of the universe has a story, Renée.
But there is no greater one than that of humanity.
Stay the course, Renée.
Stay the course.
