Felicity s04e18 Episode Script

Time Will Tell

Previously on Felicity.
- I can't just move.
- But you've decided? I have been following you for four years! It's your turn now.
Do you ever wonder what would have happened if you and I? Never.
Bye, Noel.
- What are you doing here? - You were right.
It was my turn.
Dear Sally.
It's me, Felicity.
I know it's been a while, but something's happened and I think that you're the only one I can talk to about it because people I've told think I'm insane.
You probably will too.
First of all, I'm in my old college room, which is so weird.
And if I told you how I got here, you wouldn't believe it, so let me go back.
I'll start with the saddest and most important thing.
Elena's funeral.
It was six months ago.
And she was in a car accident up near Columbia University.
The idea that one of us was gone, that you can lose someone you love so much it changed everything.
I'm gonna miss her so much.
It feels like we should do something.
Like what? I don't know.
It just feels like everything could disappear.
Just like that.
Yeah.
That wasn't what I was feeling because instead of holding on, I pulled away.
Actually, I think I became pretty hard to live with.
I'm not sure if I ever told you that I started studying pre-med in Palo Alto.
Ben was studying there too.
That's where all our trouble began.
- Hey, let's go do something.
- What? I don't know.
Let's go outside.
It's really nice out.
You go ahead.
I want to finish this.
Okay.
It was around that time that Claire showed up.
She was also a student in the pre-med program.
It was weird.
She'd been at UNY the same time as us.
We'd just never met.
Apparently, she was even in some of Ben's classes.
They just never spoke.
For a while it was the three of us, studying, hanging out.
Then it became the two of them.
I remember it because it was the day I got the invitation to Noel's wedding.
I went to go show Ben.
And that's when I found them together.
Needless to say, we broke up.
Are you kidding me? That son of a bitch! - I don't know what to do.
- Get your ass back here, that's what.
I can't.
I mean, it's Noel's wedding.
I can't go like this.
I'm a mess.
I can barely breathe.
Yes, you can.
I remember when I was first getting to know Meghan.
She just seemed so shocking.
But the most shocking thing about her is what an amazing friend she is.
- Thanks.
Don't tell anyone about - No, not a word.
- It's Noel's wedding and - Shh.
Nothing.
- Here you go.
- Thank you.
Go ahead.
Hi.
- Hey.
How are you? - Good.
Oh, it's so good to see you guys.
I see your picture every day on Employee of the Month plaque, but you are much better looking in person.
- Stop it.
- What the hell's this? - Oh, a party favor for the wedding.
- Is that you in the background? This was the best photo of them that I could find.
So where's Benjamin, the love of your life? - Er - He has exams.
- He's not coming? - But he has to come.
Who cares? They hate each other anyway.
God.
- Can I come in? - Sure.
I brought so much stuff.
You'd think I was staying for a month instead of a weekend.
- You okay? - Yeah.
Yeah.
I just er I can't believe that I'm getting married - and I feel like I'm about to throw up.
- You're just nervous.
Incredibly nervous, yeah.
I mean, feel my hands.
They're - Noel! Oh, my God.
- I know.
Noel, it's gonna be great.
Seriously.
You and Zoe, you guys are perfect together.
And it's totally normal to be nervous.
Remember how nervous Elena was? Yeah.
- I miss talking to you.
- I miss it too.
Do you remember at the end of college when I took you to the airport and you asked me if I ever wondered, you know, about us? Yeah, and you said "Never.
" Well, obviously I was lying.
I wondered all the time.
I actually thought that at some point maybe we'd be doing what Zoe and I are doing.
Tomorrow.
- Oh, my God.
That sounded like I was hitting on you.
- No.
- I knew you weren't.
- Yeah? - Yeah.
It's just weird.
I mean, Zoe's great.
I love her, I really do.
But it's just weird how things don't work out the way you thought they would.
Yeah.
And that's when I started thinking, probably unfairly since he was just about to get married, that maybe I had made a mistake.
Maybe it was Noel I should have been with all along.
* Can you become * Can you become * A new version of you * New wallpaper * New shoe leather * A new way home * I don't remember * New version of you * I need a new version of me * New version of you * I need a new version of me * So, Sally, here's where it gets weird.
You know how I told you Meghan does spells? - What is that smell? - I'm putting a hex on your ex.
- You're still doing spells? - Yeah.
I'm a black belt now.
Especially with this new kick-ass book.
Mystical Incantations Part II.
There isn't even a Part I.
That's how mystical it is.
The author, Korsakoff, is a genius.
There are things in this book I've never seen.
Give me the nutmeg.
This one? What is this spell gonna do to Ben? It's a tripping spell.
I just can't decide on a flight of stairs or a curb.
I don't really want him to trip down a flight of stairs.
Curb it is.
- You're not gonna get back with him? - No.
- Even when he comes groveling? - We are finished.
- You sure? - Yes.
- You're an Aires, right? - Scorpio.
Even better.
There.
He just tripped.
It was the night before Noel's wedding and we all got together to celebrate.
It was excruciating.
Well, so anyway The N-Man's getting hitched.
Saying adios to the singles scene.
Leaving me on my own.
I promised myself I wouldn't cry.
Just give me a sec.
- You need a tissue? - No, I'm good, man.
- Okay.
Where was I? - Noel's getting married.
- Damnit.
- Anyone else uncomfortable? I guess I just never thought I never thought the day would come.
I thought he'd carry his torch for Felicity forever.
Oh, God! Would you take it easy? Zoe knows everything.
I'm not telling tales out of school here.
I should let Phil Collins do the talking.
You two have got a groovy kind of love.
Cheers.
- Cheers.
- Thank you.
Okay, Sally, I haven't been to many of these dinners in my life but I know there's probably one rule that applies to all of them.
Unless you're the bride, you shouldn't covet the groom.
I think that night I was definitely breaking that rule.
Felicity, you're up.
I don't really know what to say.
Um I'm so happy for both of you.
Zoe, you are so lucky to have such a great guy like Noel.
And, Noel, you're so lucky to have found Zoe.
Um you're both just so um - Lucky? - Well, yeah.
And, - I wish you both all the happiness in the world.
Cheers.
- Here, here.
- Hi.
- Look who it is.
Dr Covington.
- Hey.
Did you pass your exams? - Er yes.
Yes.
- Congratulations.
Sorry I'm late.
- I'm just glad you're here.
Hey, Ben.
What happened to your forehead? Oh.
I just tripped.
- Hi.
- What are you doing here? - I want to talk to you.
- Now? It's Noel's wedding.
- Later.
- When are you guys getting married? - I don't know.
- We haven't talked about it in a while.
- Oh.
I thought you were engaged.
- Yeah.
For like a day.
You guys have to get married.
It's the greatest.
Every night's like a slumber party.
If I'm gonna have a slumber party I'm gonna have a different babe each time.
- Thank you, guys.
- Bye.
- So I'll see you tomorrow? - Yeah.
I hope so.
Your last night apart forever.
- Anybody want to share a cab uptown? - Are you kidding? A chance to ride with the bride-to-be? Somebody pinch me.
- Bye.
- See you.
- Noel, are you coming? - Actually, I'm gonna walk.
I'll walk with you unless you wanna be alone.
- No, no.
- I guess I'm gonna talk to you later.
- Yeah.
I guess so.
- Okay.
Thanks for coming, man.
See you soon.
- We're still going to the strip club? - No, we're not.
- Come on.
Felicity can come.
- If you already have plans You heard the woman.
First lap dance is on me.
Let's go.
- So to speak.
- Richard, see you tomorrow.
All right.
- How was the walk? - Good.
Well, I'm gonna go up on the roof and ponder the end of my single life.
I say that as if it's been so great.
Anyway, I'll see you guys tomorrow.
Good night, Noel.
Can we talk about this? Okay.
I don't know what there is to talk about, but I'm sorry.
What happened It was a mistake, it was stupid.
It was me reacting to what was going on with us.
- It didn't mean anything.
- It didn't look that way to me.
I know.
I know I made a mistake.
I know that.
I talked to Claire and I told her that it's over and we're not gonna see each other anymore.
Anymore? - I mean you know what I mean.
- No, I don't.
Was this like an ongoing thing with you two? Oh, my God.
- How long has this been going on? - Not long.
No.
I mean like a week, a month, six months? Ben, tell me how long.
- About a month.
- A month? You've been seeing Claire for a month? - Felicity - Oh, don't! - I should probably stay somewhere else.
- Yeah.
Probably.
I mean, I thought it was one time and now I find out it was a month.
Oh, I can't believe him.
You should have let me send him down a flight of stairs.
After everything that we've been through.
You know what I wish? I wish I could go back to that night.
On the roof.
The night that I slept with Noel.
Oh.
That night.
That was my chance.
And I blew it.
If you had it to do over, you know, if you could go back what would you do differently? Everything.
I'd pick Noel.
I think I made a mistake.
A big mistake.
Hindsight, you know? Screw hindsight.
We've got something better.
We've got Korsakoff.
And Korsakoff kicks hindsight's ass.
Unfortunately, a spell is not gonna fix this.
Hey, you saw Ben's forehead.
This works.
Meghan Okay.
You got forward in time, you got backward in time.
You wanna go back.
I wanna go lie down.
I feel like I'm gonna pass out.
I'm doing this spell.
Where did I put the oil of cloves? - What are you doing? - This'll just take a sec.
- God, the ceiling's spinning.
Ow! - It's for the spell.
Goodnight.
Noel? Um Noel? - Hey.
- What happened? I don't know.
I guess we fell asleep.
But how did we get up here? Well, I was here and then you came up.
Are you all right? - I don't know.
Did we just? - I'm pretty sure, yeah.
- Oh, my God! - What? - Noel, it's the night before your wedding.
- Felicity, are you okay? I don't remember coming up.
I must have blacked out.
Wow.
That's a confidence booster.
Noel, I'm serious.
Did you take something last night? Some drugs or something? Meghan and I were drinking, but This isn't what I was wearing.
Okay.
You just need to relax, that's all.
I need to get out of here.
What if Zoe finds us? Zoe? Hey, who's Zoe? Sally, I didn't know if I was going insane or if this was a dream.
To be honest, I still don't.
Hey.
Have you been here this whole time? I'm sorry.
I thought you were going to a hotel.
What? No.
Look, about before with the printer I'm sorry.
This whole pre-med thing has kind of got me freaked out.
What are you talking about? I'm talking about the fight we had before.
Anyway, I was a jerk.
It's just Hodges kind of makes me nervous.
So I'm sorry.
- Hodges? - Yeah.
- Is this like a joke? - No.
I'm trying to apologize.
Hey.
I didn't know you guys were here.
I was just up on the roof hanging out.
- Oh, my God.
- What? What's the matter? I'm gonna go find Meghan and she doesn't live here anymore.
Meghan, wake up.
I need to talk to you.
- Go away.
- Meghan, it worked.
- Congratulations.
- You did a spell on me and it worked.
I wish I had a spell to make you shut up.
It was a time-travel spell from that book.
I woke up on the roof.
It happened all over again.
Just like that night I slept with Noel.
- You slept with Noel? - Yes.
You know that.
- I do? - Meghan, I don't know how you did it, but we're back in time.
Okay.
That must have been the greatest sex ever because you've lost your mind.
You have no idea what I'm talking about, really? I came back in town for Noel's wedding.
Noel's wedding? Oh, my God.
This is the greatest thing ever.
You've officially gone insane.
Not to mention you've a mammoth hickey on your neck.
- What's going on here? - Felicity has lost her mind.
Oh, my God.
Elena.
- Oh, my God! - See what I mean? - I can't believe it.
- What? - You're here! - I live here.
How are you? I'm getting married in two days.
I need to get some sleep.
That's right.
That's right.
You were supposed to marry Tracy.
- Supposed to? - She said it, not me.
Where are you going? I have so much to tell you.
Tell me tomorrow because I'm going to bed.
- She's supposed to be dead.
- She's engaged.
It's the same thing.
You know who's gonna be dead? Noel.
- Ben's gonna kill him when he finds out.
- I think I should tell him.
Wait a minute.
Do you want to be with Noel? I think so.
I mean, that's what this is all about.
Oh, this is amazing! Senior year is gonna be so good.
Sally, I couldn't sleep at all that night.
I mean, who knew where I would wake up? Or when? All I really did know was that this was my chance to do it all again.
And this time I was going to do it right.
- Is anybody else here? - Er no.
Good.
I just wanted to come by and see how you were doing.
I'm fine.
Thanks.
You were acting sort of weird last night.
- Oh, it was er - Oh, my God.
Did I do that? - Yeah, but don't worry about it.
- Are you kidding? It's huge.
- It's fine.
- No, it's not.
What if Ben sees it? - What if he does? - He is gonna realize he didn't do it and - he's gonna wonder who gave it to you.
- And I'll tell him.
You're thinking about telling him what happened? That's a bad idea.
I know what happens if I don't and it's worse.
It comes out anyway.
If we decide not to tell him he's not gonna find out.
- Trust me.
- And I live with the guy.
Noel, I know this is complicated but it's gonna be bad between you no matter what, so of all of our options this is the best one.
You seem sure and it's freaking me out.
I know.
Just go with it.
Okay.
As long as you promise me you'll think about it.
Okay.
I promise.
The truth is I had no idea what I was gonna say to Ben.
But I couldn't avoid him forever.
I mean, technically, we were still going out.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
No problem.
- Is Ben here? - No.
I don't know where he is.
Come in and leave a note.
I gotta go and see this fortune-cookie maker with a zero sense of humor.
- Right.
For Elena's wedding.
- Right.
- Maybe it'll actually happen this time.
- What? - You okay? - Yes.
I'm sorry.
Yes, I'm fine.
Okay.
See you later.
You've reached Blumberg Productions.
Leave a message for Sean.
Oh, Noel and Ben live here too.
Hey, Ben, it's Janet.
I was just thinking about you.
I drove by our motel yesterday.
It made me sad you weren't still here.
I really miss you.
Anyway, that's why I'm calling.
My transfer was approved.
I'm starting at Columbia in two weeks.
I slept with Noel.
- What? - I slept with him.
And I felt guilty about it forever, but I don't anymore because I was upset and I was lonely and he was there for me and you weren't.
- I don't understand.
- It's actually all pretty clear.
- Why are you doing this? - I'll tell you why.
Claire.
Claire? Who's Claire? Okay.
Janet, whatever.
I can't even keep track.
It's okay.
Janet? What are you talking about? - I heard the message.
- Janet's a friend of mine.
I know.
Nothing happened at the motel.
I don't even believe that anymore.
- Felicity, I don't understand.
- I know you don't, but I do.
So this thing with Noel, when did this happen? This summer? No.
Last night.
- You're serious? - Yes.
Last night? So you wanna be with him now? Yes.
I mean, I think so, yes.
Well, that's kinda crazy.
Ben, I'm sorry.
Trust me.
This is for the best.
This is for the best? I really don't see how this could be for the best.
Wait a second.
What am I doing? Why am I getting upset? The thing is you broke my heart.
How did I break your heart? - You won't understand, believe me.
- Tell me how.
Ben, I'm sorry.
- So you really wanna break up? - Yeah.
I think we should.
I guess I should go then.
Sally, I knew that this was what I wanted, that it was the right thing to do.
But watching him walk away like that I just had to keep reminding myself.
"Claire, Claire, Claire.
" Hold on.
- I told him.
- What? - I told Ben.
- You were gonna think about it.
I know.
And I did.
I thought about it.
How could you just tell him? - I had to, so we could have a chance.
- "We"? Us.
You and me.
I think we should try it.
I'm gonna sit.
Do you want to sit? Sit.
Noel, I know how this must sound to you - You do? - No, actually I don't.
Okay.
Obviously you're going through a lot of stuff right now.
That's understandable.
Senior year, your future My future's fine.
I'm gonna be pre-med.
- What about art? - Forget art.
I wanna be a doctor.
- I know what I want.
- I think that's great that you know what you want, but I'm trying to figure things out.
And you will.
We need a chance to be together.
That's what last night was about.
What about Ben? He was all you could talk about.
- I am over Ben.
- You're over Ben? Okay.
Noel The thing is, I know in the past when I've had the chance I've always chosen Ben over you, but I'm telling you now that that was a mistake.
I know.
This is sudden.
But I think it's right.
It feels right.
Don't you think? - You really wanna do this? - Don't you? - Yes.
- Yes.
Yes, yes.
Er yes.
So um what do we do? Well, we could just start slowly.
I mean, we could just go to dinner tonight.
Okay.
Good.
No, no.
We can't.
We can't.
Tracy and Elena's rehearsal is tonight.
- We could go to coffee before.
- Perfect.
- It's a date.
- Okay.
Okay.
- Oh.
Finally.
- Sorry I'm late.
Sorry only counts in horseshoes.
I have to go.
I forgot to book a place for the rehearsal dinner and if Elena finds out she's going to serve my head for brunch.
I'm just going to head out front.
Wait a second.
Can I talk to you for a second? Sure.
- I don't want to break up.
- Ben I'm not excusing what you did.
But you're right.
I haven't been there for you.
I was away all summer and I wasn't around when your dad was here.
Ben, it's not that.
If I've broken your heart I'm sorry.
It's the last thing I ever wanted to do.
I guess what I'm saying is that maybe we can get past this.
If you want.
I just don't think that we can.
I gotta go.
Can you tell? Just Tell Javier something.
I don't know if this is the real world or not, but it feels real.
I mean, it hurts a lot.
Breaking up with Ben? Of course it hurts.
What did you think? I guess that it would be easier.
- A little unrealistic, don't you think? - No - Not given what's going to happen.
- Oh? And what's that? Ben is just He is not the right one for me.
- And Noel is? - I can't believe this.
You're the one saying "Look in the drawer.
" Noel is in the drawer.
I know that now.
I don't know where you got this drawer thing, but I like it.
I just I wanna make sure that I'm doing the right thing.
Forget about doing the right thing.
Make sure you're doing what you want.
What do you want? I wanna be with Noel.
I just wish it didn't have to hurt Ben so much.
Like I said, it's unrealistic.
I was thinking we could go away for a weekend.
To the Berkshires or Cape Cod or something like that.
It doesn't have to be this weekend.
Just before it gets cold.
What do you think? Wow.
I think um I don't think this is a good idea.
There's no rush.
We can go away anytime.
No.
I mean this.
Us.
You and me being together.
I don't understand.
When you er When you came to me and said that you wanted to give us a chance that was incredible.
I mean, I've waited to have that conversation for so long.
- But? - But I just it doesn't It doesn't feel right.
It seems fast.
It seems too fast.
- That's how things happen sometimes.
- Which is fine.
I'm just I'm just trying to keep up and keep my head together and get my life in order.
- I don't even have a job.
- But you will.
You keep saying that and I love your enthusiasm and your confidence in me, but I don't have it.
I don't know that everything's gonna be fine.
So - We're going through a lot and we're gonna need each other.
- Exactly.
As friends.
I'm afraid that if we get together that'll destroy our friendship.
And I'm not willing to take that chance.
So you're saying you just wanna stay friends? I think it's the best thing.
Is this going to be awkward for you? Yeah.
Incredibly.
I know.
Me too.
- What's going on? - The question is what isn't going on.
I hope it's worth all this.
I hope you two are happy.
What are you guys talking about? Where are Elena and Tracy? The wedding's off, man.
Thanks to her.
All that work for nothing but heartache.
- What happened? - Elena and Tracy had a fight.
- Over you? - What? It's all true.
- Apparently, Elena was defending your decision to Cheat.
No offence, man.
Yeah.
So Tracy freaked out and Elena came to her senses finally and called it off.
Thank God! - Is she okay? - She'll bounce back.
That Tyler's one tough broad.
- Man, is he wasted.
- Who? Ben? Yeah.
He had a little too much to drink.
Trying to drown out the sorrow.
I'm gonna go talk to him.
- For that final twist of the knife.
- Richard, shut up.
Ben? Can I get you anything? No.
You can't get me anything.
Ben, I am so sorry about everything that's happened.
I can't do this.
- Noel and I are not even - It's not Noel and you.
It's not that.
It's this stupid pre-med thing.
I failed my first test.
I studied and I studied and I studied and I still failed.
- Ben.
You can totally do this.
- No, I can't.
Listen to me, and I know this for a fact, you're going to do really well.
You can't give up, okay? - I have to get out of here.
- Okay.
Let's go home.
No, no.
I mean I have to go back to the way things were.
- Oh, God, not this again! - You have to undo this spell.
- The one that sent you back in time? - Yes! Ben is a mess.
He might not even be a doctor.
- Ben a doctor? - Yes.
Elena and Tracy aren't even getting married I don't know, maybe they weren't suppose to but-- Oh, my God.
That means you're not gonna marry Sean.
- Er no.
- But you were supposed to.
When Elena and Tracy don't do it, you propose to Sean.
Okay.
Two words, fat chance.
But you should.
You guys were really happy.
You have to undo the spell.
Listen to me.
I didn't put a spell on you.
Not yet, but you will and it changes everything.
Please help me.
- Okay.
Fine.
- Really? - Yeah.
- Thank you.
Meghan, thank you.
Now you have to stop wigging out because you're scaring the hell out of me.
Okay.
- Are you sure it's the right name? - Yes.
Korsakoff.
You said it a million times.
Try it with a C.
- I did.
There's nothing.
- There has to be.
Okay, but there's still not.
- Oh, my God.
I just realized something.
- You didn't travel back in time? No, I did.
If the book is from the future, maybe it hasn't been published.
Maybe it hasn't even been written.
- So the library's out of the question.
- Oh, my God.
I could be stuck here forever.
Okay.
Are you sure you're okay? Because you could go talk to somebody.
Like a shrink.
- You know what, just forget it.
- Felicity I've um I thought it was the book, but I was wrong.
I've just been feeling weird lately and I probably just have the flu or something.
So I'll be feeling better tomorrow.
Dear Sally.
It's me, Felicity.
I know it's been a while, but something's happened And I think you're the only one I can talk to about this because people I've told think I'm insane.
You probably will too.
Wow.
You still make those tapes? Er yeah.
I know it's kinda stupid.
No, it's nice, you know, that you have someone to talk to.
Yeah, it is.
- Can I? - Sure.
Yeah? I wanted to make sure you were all right.
I'm fine.
Thanks.
I've really made a mess out of things.
- You didn't do it alone.
- Yeah, I did.
No, you didn't.
The truth is I said no to you because I'm petrified.
I don't wanna lose you as my friend.
Noel, you won't.
Ever.
So what does this mean? Are we? Yeah.
* imagine what it's like * * To be in heaven * * Floating high above the ground * * Where you can finally spread your wings * *
