He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1983) s01e61 Episode Script

The House of Shokoti (Part 1)

1 [dramatic music.]
I am Adam, Prince of Eternia and defender of the secrets of Castle Grayskull.
This is Cringer, my fearless friend.
Fabulous secret powers were revealed to me the day I held aloft my magic sword and said, "By the power of Grayskull!" [chorus.]
He-Man I have the power! [roaring.]
[He-Man.]
Cringer became the mighty Battle Cat, and I became He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.
Only three others share this secret: our friends the Sorceress, Man-At-Arms, and Orko.
Together we defend Castle Grayskull from the evil forces of Skeletor.
[cackling.]
[chorus.]
He-Man [dramatic music.]
[upbeat music.]
Come on, Cringer, just one little jump.
[yawns.]
Oh, please leave me alone, Orko.
I'm tired.
You're always tired.
How much sleep do you need, anyway? Leave me alone, and I'll find out.
If you do this trick, and the king likes it, he'll probably give you a nice reward, like a cake.
[snoring.]
[Orko.]
Or a big bowl of ice cream.
Ice cream? Or maybe even some yummy fish.
Yummy fish? Here I come.
Hey, wait, wait! Hold on a minute! [crashing.]
Uh, you two having a good time? [Orko jabbering.]
This dumb cat of yours sure has ruined my magic hoop.
Dumb? If you hadn't been dumb enough to float right in front of that dumb thing Hold it, guys.
[Orko.]
What is it, Adam? I'm getting a telepathic message from the Sorceress.
He-Man and Battle Cat are wanted at Castle Grayskull.
Looks like we're going to visit the Sorceress, Cringer.
[Sorceress.]
I've received some disturbing news from the Fortress in the Sands.
I'd like you to look into it.
[He-Man.]
What sort of news? Ten days ago, a nomad came to the fortress.
He said he saw a strange building rise up out of the desert.
From his description, it must have been something like this.
[He-Man.]
Why, it's a pyramid.
[Sorceress.]
The fortress sent men to look for it, but they found no trace of it.
Well, pyramids don't just disappear.
True, which is why I'm afraid some ancient evil is behind this strange happening.
I'll leave for the fortress immediately.
[Sorceress.]
You're going alone? Well, Man-At-Arms and Teela are after some space pirates, but I can take Ram Man and Orko.
Then do so.
And good luck to you all.
[chorus.]
He-Man [engine whirring.]
[He-Man.]
The fortress should be just ahead of us.
Laser fire! [zapping.]
[Ram Man.]
Uh, it's the fortress.
It's under attack.
[zapping.]
[explosions.]
[rumbling.]
[Ram Man.]
I've never seen spiders like that.
Gee! [He-Man.]
They're not real.
They're just machines.
Trap Jaw invented them, which means he's probably behind this attack.
You're sure these machines of yours will destroy the fortress? They'll flatten it.
[zapping.]
[explosions.]
[He-Man.]
Time for us to pitch in.
[thuds.]
We're hit.
Hold on.
[crashing.]
He-Man, those robots they're after us! [zapping.]
I'll swat those metal buggies, He-Man.
[crashing.]
[electrical buzzing.]
[Masque.]
Your machines have failed.
Only because He-Man showed up.
Blast him.
Who is this He-Man? The most powerful man on Eternia.
And I hope he doesn't know I'm here.
You said I would be safe in your lair.
You are.
You are.
Believe me.
There's no way He-Man can find us here.
You had better be right, Trap Jaw.
[Sylus.]
Here it is, just as you asked.
[Ram Man.]
Dah, what is it, He-Man? A control box from one of Trap Jaw's robots.
It automatically brings them back to Trap Jaw.
I get it! We'll put it in our Wind Raider, and it'll take us to Trap Jaw.
See? Ohh.
I don't get it.
[Masque.]
When will your machines be ready to attack the fortress again? What's the hurry? The fortress sends men to seek out the pyramid of my mistress.
That alone is reason enough.
[Trap Jaw.]
Who is this mistress of yours, anyway? You shall know that when she has awakened the Sleeping Beast and spread darkness across Eternia.
The fortress is only a small problem, Masque.
The real threat is He-Man.
[He-Man.]
Nice of you to say so, metal mouth.
Playtime's over for you two.
[roars.]
You said he wouldn't find us.
But since he has [springs boing.]
Yippee! That was quick thinking, Rammy! Incompetent fool.
I never should have trusted you.
[warbling tone.]
Masque! Wait! Come back! Masque is escaping.
We've still got Trap Jaw.
You won't take me that easily, He-Man.
[zapping.]
Uh-oh.
He-Man needs my help.
[shimmering tone.]
Hey! It worked! [creaking.]
[explosion.]
Whatwhat happened? [roars.]
Hope this is not too tight, Trappy.
Uh, what now, He-Man? You take Trap Jaw back to the Fortress in the Sands.
Orko and I are going to the Royal Palace.
Shouldn't we try to find that pyramid? That's why I want to talk to Melaktha, the royal archaeologist.
Uh, what's an aruh An archaeologist.
That's a person who studies old ruins and tells us what people were like in the past.
He's the one who can help us find the mysterious pyramid that Masque is so eager to protect.
[Orko.]
Then let's get moving.
You shall be sorry for meddling in my plans, He-Man.
You shall be very sorry.
Well, you didn't give me much to go on, but I think I've come up with something that might explain this disappearing pyramid.
This ancient map speaks of a House of Darkness where a Sleeping Beast dwells.
It's here, deep in the Sands of Time.
That must be it.
I bet it's some spooky old temple.
Ooh, spooky? Actually, I'd say it was a tomb.
T-t-tomb? [He-Man.]
What do you think we should do? Find this tomb.
I'll lead the expedition myself.
[He-Man.]
And we'll all come along.
Right, Cringer? You want m-me to go to a t-t-tomb? I'm sure there's nothing to be scared of.
Oh, maybe a few ghosts.
G-g-ghosts? And don't forget the monsters.
M-m-monsters? [boy.]
Melaktha! Stanlan, you know you shouldn't burst in like that.
And didn't I give you some work to do? Yes, sir.
I'm sorry, sir.
But I heard the prince had asked for you for help, and, well, I thought we might finally be going on an expedition.
Is it true? - It is.
- Hooray! [Melaktha.]
But that's no reason for disobeying.
Yes, sir.
Wait.
First, say hello to Prince Adam and his friends.
They'll be going with us.
Prince Adam, this is Stanlan, my apprentice.
Glad to meet you, Stanlan.
You're the prince? Oh, wow.
I mean, pleased to meet you, sir.
And I'm Orko.
Bet you heard of me, huh? Uh, no.
But I'm glad to meet you.
And this is my friend my friend now, where'd he go? Psst.
[chattering.]
[He-Man.]
Cringer, come out of there and say hello.
Hello, kitty.
I'm not a kitty.
I'm Cringer.
And you scared me.
Youyou talk? Doesn't everybody? A talking tiger.
Wow.
Off with you, now.
We have a lot to do tomorrow.
Yes, sir.
He's a good boy.
If he'd only learn to follow orders.
The king used to say the same thing about me when I was a boy.
He still says it.
[chuckles.]
What's our first stop, Melaktha? The village of Calash to hire a good desert guide.
So, they need a guide, do they? That gives me an idea.
[chorus.]
He-Man I can't believe it.
I've looked all over town, and there's not a guide to be had.
[Racca.]
I will be your guide, sirs.
[Melaktha.]
Well, I've never seen you in Calash before.
I am new here, but I'm a good guide.
We don't have much choice.
It's up to you.
[all snoring.]
That should delay them long enough.
Now, to contact my new allies.
Halt, manling.
You are now our prisoner.
Am I? Lord Masque, we didn't know it was you.
We were following this group as you asked.
Good, now listen carefully.
The group will reach the pyramid sometime tomorrow night.
When they do, I shall give you our signal, and you are to capture them.
They shall make fine gifts for the Sleeping Beast.
[clanking.]
Blast this breakdown.
We won't reach our goal until well after nightfall now.
Hey, what's that? Sand digger! Run! [roaring.]
You've got to stop that digger.
I'm on my way.
[roaring.]
Ready or not, here I come.
[springs boing.]
[thuds.]
[boings.]
[He-Man.]
We're far enough out of sight now.
Let's keep it that way.
Sorry, pal, but He-Man and Battle Cat are needed.
Oh, not again.
By the power of Grayskull [chorus.]
He-Man [zapping.]
I have the power! [zapping.]
[growling.]
[roars.]
[chorus.]
He-Man [roars.]
[roaring.]
[chorus.]
He-Man - He-Man! - He-Man? [roars.]
[growls.]
[grunting.]
[thuds.]
Back to the sand with you, crabby.
[spinning and whirring.]
Looks like he's had enough.
[Stanlan.]
He-Man and Battle Cat! Wow! Prince Adam told me all about you, but I never thought I'd meet you way out here.
[He-Man.]
I thought it would be a good idea if I kept an eye on you all.
I have to go now, but I'll be close by if I'm needed.
- So long.
- [Battle Cat roars.]
[chorus.]
He-Man Boy, with He-Man around, we don't have to worry about anything.
[Orko.]
You said it.
[dramatic music.]
[Melaktha.]
According to the map, we'll find the tomb somewhere up there.
I suggest we camp for the night and start digging in the morning.
Good idea.
We can use the rest.
[Masque.]
The time has come.
Start your attack as I weave the spell to uncover the House of Darkness again.
Prepare to attack.
[crashing.]
Better check it out, Rammy.
Eh, right.
Wait for me! What do you think's going on, Adam? Well, we'll find out, but not as Prince Adam and Cringer.
Something's happening up there.
[Orko.]
Hey! What's going on? [Melaktha.]
Reptile men! The other two must be in the tent.
Get them.
[crashing.]
[He-Man.]
Looking for us, scale face? [roars.]
Free Ram Man, Cat.
I'll take care of that overgrown reptile.
[Battle Cat growls.]
Yahoo! Let's get 'em.
I'm with you, lead head.
[splashes.]
[shimmering tone.]
[zapping.]
[growling.]
Whoa, put me down! Anything you say.
[grunts.]
[splashes.]
I guess we showed those critters.
Yes, but there's still one more villain to deal with, and he's all mine.
[rumbling.]
Rise.
Rise, House of Darkness.
[He-Man.]
Not so fast, Masque.
He-Man! Your scaly friends have failed.
You'd better surrender.
Never.
[pinging.]
[roars.]
[roaring.]
[thuds.]
[laughing.]
[rumbling.]
What? [Masque.]
This time I'll create a whole army of demons.
Oh, no, you won't, funny face.
Orko, don't! My mask! [stuttering.]
He-Man! H-h-help! Little fool, the power of my demon mask shall be your doom.
So much for that little pest.
Now, to get my mask back.
No! Are you all right, little buddy? I guess so.
What hit me? [He-Man.]
The power of darkness.
It was all contained in that mask.
But it won't trouble us anymore.
[Melaktha.]
This Masque was certainly a strange creature.
He seems to have been more of an evil shadow than a man.
I hope Orko will be all right.
The Sorceress will have him up and around in a few days.
At least Masque did us the favor of uncovering the tomb.
And with him gone, it should be safe to explore.
Well, I hope you're right, Melaktha.
[He-Man.]
I hope you're right.
[dramatic music.]
In today's story, I sure was busy.
Boy, did that hurt.
Ramming things may look like fun, but it really isn't.
Trying to use your head the way I do is not only dangerous, it's dumb.
I mean, you could get hurt badly.
So listen to Rammy.
Play safely, and when you use your head, use it to the way it was meant to be used: to think.
Until later, so long.
[upbeat music.]
