Holy Family (2022) s02e07 Episode Script

Kid for Kid

- [mysterious music playing]
- [objects clatter]
[match lighting]
[Abel] Why do I want to be
a film director?
It's hard to explain,
but my mind's set on it.
I want to be in control of a story.
- Writing is not easy.
- [siren whoops]
[Abel] Though it comes from you,
the characters have to make
their own choices
which are sometimes risky,
sometimes wrong,
and many times they're made out of fear.
All you can do is trust
that they will be guiding you
along the true path of the story,
which is also yours.
Because you belong to them
as much as they belong to you.
And that's what I want,
to follow my own path,
to make movies one day.
And I'm going to succeed,
even if my life depends on it.
- [Caterina sighs]
- [Abel] Maybe that sounds silly.
But it's the only decision
I've made for myself so far.
I don't know if it's the best one,
but at least it's mine.
I hope you like my script.
It's called
"Holy Family."
[Caterina] Tell me what happened.
I want to know.
[mysterious music continues]
HOLY FAMILY
- I dyed my hair blonde.
- Hmm.
Because I've always wanted to be a blonde.
[Caterina chuckles] Yeah.
We changed our names.
Gloria Román.
The first time
that I ever said it, "Gloria"
[sighs] I knew Julia Santos had died.
We moved to Madrid
and we hoped to be able start a new life.
And then Germán and I showed up.
You know the rest, I'm sure.
I believe you.
- Why wouldn't you believe me?
- Well
Julia, Mariana, Eduardo
The Santos family has a lot of secrets.
- No more than you.
- [laughing]
Hey
I really like you, babe.
I really do.
Why did you get out of Hell itself
and come to this house?
Ana.
Ana, and Claudia, her mother
who you killed.
The only mother
that little girl has ever known is you.
I saw you.
I saw you arrive, and I saw you leave.
And I saw her convulse to death
in that place.
She left an orphan kid.
That kid has Pedro and Alicia.
She's better off with them.
Right, and you're the one who decides
the better option for every child.
Huh? Did Pedro ask you for this?
- Pedro told me
- Mmm.
he thought he should care for the girl
because her mother was a junkie.
I didn't believe him,
so I went to see for myself.
And when I got there, I found
a shattered woman.
And?
What do you want me to say here?
You're looking for a convincing story?
Try me.
Like, for example,
how I crushed up a bunch of pills,
and then I mixed them carefully
with glass shards,
and then I waited to watch her snort it?
Yes. That's it.
That sounds more like the truth.
Maybe it does to you.
Looks like you're very fond of the girl,
huh?
Imagine if that baby
had come out of your womb, right?
[phone ringing]
[ringing continues]
- Answer it.
- [ringing continues]
- [Abel] Mom?
- Abel.
- Abel?
- [Natalia] Give it to me.
This is very simple, Julia.
You give me Nico, I'll give you Edu.
A son for a son.
- [call disconnects]
- [sighs]
[Gloria] Natalia
- [Caterina] What's going on?
- She has Abel and wants Hugo in return.
What do I do?
What can I do?
[clears throat] I think I
I think I know
where to find them, actually.
- Take me there.
- No, no, no.
You just stay here.
I'll go over there
and I'll tell you how it's looking.
- But why would you even help me?
- [sighs]
Because we need to stop this.
It has to stop.
Do you know her real name? Do you?
Her real name.
You want to know what it is?
It's fucking crazy.
Her name's "Gloria!"
Holy shit. This is worse than Clue
[intriguing music playing]
- [indistinct chatter]
- [woman] Do your parents know?
[woman] I mean, he just left, right?
Are you serious?
- Excuse me, I need to make a call.
- [woman] No.
It's an emergency, please.
What's the matter with you? Get lost.
[officer] Sir, I'm gonna
need you to calm down. Yes.
[woman] I don't know,
some guy on the street. Unbelievable.
[officer speaking indistinctly]
[crowd clamoring indistinctly]
[sighs] You know, when you
left the memorial, I thought that
it would end like that, with an argument.
Same as with Marcos.
Last time I saw him,
which was the day everything happened
[sighs heavily]
we argued about something stupid.
- [somber music playing]
- [breathes deeply]
What happened?
[grunts] I'd just bought
a super expensive MP3 player.
[laughs softly]
And he lost it.
I was angry and I told him to fuck off.
It sucks knowing that the last moment
I shared with my brother was an argument.
[somber music continues]
And now that he's gone
He forgives you, I'm sure of it.
I hope so.
I'm going for a walk.
I need some fresh air.
- I'll come. Let me put some clothes on.
- No, no, no. It's okay.
[pensive music playing]
- Call her one more time.
- [Chino] No.
No fucking way.
The more anxious she is, the better.
She'll do exactly what we want her to do.
- [knock on door]
- [Chino] Shh. Be quiet.
[knocking continues]
[Chino] Who is it?
[Caterina faintly] Special delivery.
[door opens]
Look who decided to show up, huh?
- [Caterina clears throat]
- That was my favorite shirt, brunette.
Didn't think I'd see you again.
[Caterina] If I told you the truth,
I'd be lying.
I left you a note.
- Where's the kid, though?
- Hey!
- Didn't you quit the case? Don't move.
- Ah
Chino
You're not gonna shoot me.
I won't if you pay me
instead of the Argentinian girl.
Or do yourself a favor
and get the hell out of here.
The Argentinian girl?
The one who murdered her father?
Pretty kooky for religious folks,
huh, Chino?
Yeah, but they got money!
That's the point of working, remember?
It's like
It's like you forgot that, right?
I've got a little present for you.
Germán, your partner?
I've got him tied up upstairs.
- [Caterina] No.
- Yeah!
No
Of course!
Of course!
He still has a big crush on the kid!
[laughing] Man
[laughing] Oh, what a pussy!
Oh, fuck.
- Damn, that dude's totally lost it.
- [Chino] Totally.
[wincing]
Blow his head off then.
And I'll give you the kid.
I have Nico.
Abel goes back to his mother
and we make our way to Mexico.
- [Chino] Are you offering a deal?
- Hmm?
[Caterina laughing] I was craving
some margaritas anyway.
[sinister music playing]
[line ringing]
[phone ringing]
- [Gloria] Yeah?
- I want to speak to Edu.
- Aitana
- Put him through, okay?
Abel isn't here.
- He's not here.
- Fuck!
[crowd chatting indistinctly]

- [Pedro] Hey! What are you doing?
- [woman] What's going on?
[Pedro] He was
trying to steal your wallet!
- [man] What the fuck are talking about?
- Really?
- [Pedro] Yeah, I saw him!
- [woman] Give me my wallet back.
- [man] I didn't steal anything, okay?
- [Pedro] No, but he tried!
- [man] Fucking bullshit!
- [Pedro] You did! You did!
[crowd arguing loudly]
[arguing continues]
[police clamoring]
[all arguing]
[tires screech]
- [bystanders shouting]
- [officer] Hey! He's driving away!
After what you did to my father,
I don't know how you're still alive.
I didn't do anything to your father.
If it hadn't been for you,
Caterina would've given him Nico.
- Sure.
- And we'd be in Argentina right now.
Well, not really, but whatever.
[Natalia] "Whatever"?
Fine.
So
Since you know Julia very well,
if things start to get complicated,
you're going to help me.
You don't have a choice. You owe me.
And why do you think I'd help you anyway?
[Chino] Because if you don't, then maybe
Who knows? I
I guess I'm gonna have to shoot Abel.
Edurne told me everything,
you little faggot.
[ominous music playing]
- How are you feeling?
- Better.
[somber music playing]
You could've told me that you've, uh,
been taking them for a while.
Well, I just took them
a few times to feel more relaxed.
A few times, huh?
A few times when?
On that night,
did you take them?
Is that why you didn't hear him leave?
- That night, we were both very nervous.
- Blanca.
Did you take them that night, yes
or no?
[sighs]
- So that's why you didn't hear him leave?
- I didn't hear him.
But did you?
- Weren't you here? Hm?
- [sighs]
[Ramón] The least
you could've done was tell me.
I would have never had to take any pills
if you had just been around
more often throughout the years
with me.
Where is he?
Do you think
I'd be here if I knew where he was?
[angrily] How the fuck did it happen?
He went out looking for you
so we could leave together.
Here.
[pensive music playing]
Elena?
Elena.
We have to change identities once more.
We have to leave.
Tonight, if we're able.
All that matters
is that she lets Edu live.
You know what you have to do, don't you?
- If you don't do it, I swear I will!
- Sit down.
[sighs]
Don't you dare get close to Hugo.
I didn't come all this way
to give up now.
I've done everything I could for you.
Everything, believe me.
No turning back now.
Would you give up your child?
Absolutely not.
I won't let anyone else die anymore.
Not this time, Mom.
[engine accelerating]

[siren whoops]
[officer] Stop! Stop! Stop!
[suspenseful music playing]
[Natalia] You probably
don't have an appetite right now.
I've been in your shoes, you know?
But just in case.
I'm not like your mother, Edu.
It hurts that it came to this, you know?
'Cause you were a good kid.
Santi would tell me that a lot.
Don't even mention his name.
Neither of us are to blame
for any of this.
We're just paying
for your mother's madness.
"My mother's madness"? What about yours?
We would've never been able
to do what you did to your father.
I was just fighting for my son.
And none of this,
absolutely none of this would've happened
if Julia hadn't made things so hard.
[mysterious music playing]
Apparently you don't
know my mother, Natalia.
She won't give up now.
Do you know when you'll see Nico again?
You never will.
