iZombie (2015) s03e02 Episode Script

Zombie Knows Best

1 LIV: Previously on iZombie - [MUFFLED.]
No, no, no, no, no.
- Eating the what, Billy? - Eating what? - Brains.
CALLER: [OVER RADIO.]
Sounds to me like the start of the zombie apocalypse.
RAVI: An army of trained zombie mercenaries ready to defend themselves once humans discover they exist? VIVIAN: We here at Fillmore-Graves do not plan on going gently into that good night.
Guess who found a job, a job where no one cares if you've been publicly accused of being a serial killer? CLIVE: So all of these kids are VIVIAN: Undead.
- Clive? - Wally? CLIVE: So our victims are suspects.
S.
CAVANAUGH: He has a connection to a couple of the victims.
All three victims shot in the head.
They were killed because they were zombies.
CLIVE: Can I get some help here? MAN: Yeah, yeah, I'm coming.
Yeah.
I got him.
I got him.
Get him out of my sight! MAN: Come on, move.
Move! Just the guy I was looking for.
Yeah? You got a minute? I came across something strange as I was going through the Tuttle-Reid case file.
A registration form for a karate class the kid, Wally, took a couple of years ago.
For his "in case of emergency," he listed you.
I said in my report that we used to live in the same building.
Yeah, I saw that.
I was working undercover in vice at that time and keeping weird hours.
Sleeping a lot during the day which led to a few chance encounters.
How about taking your game outside? I'm not allowed outside by myself.
Then go play in your apartment.
I can't play in my apartment.
My dad's got old picture frames and trophies and stuff.
Is that mustache real? No, I glued it to give myself more authority in situations like this.
Well, you look like black Tony Stark.
[CHUCKLES.]
Yeah.
What happened to your arm? Fighting off the ladies.
You know how it is.
Or maybe you don't.
So, that's it? A kid you had a few chance encounters with had you down as his "in case of emergency?" Apparently.
[INHALES SHARPLY.]
You're a detective, Clive.
This look like a chance encounter? Maybe you should take a seat.
[SIGHS.]
[THEME MUSIC PLAYING.]
Caleb Tuttle, brother of the female victim, Anna Reid, and uncle to the third victim, Wally Reid.
No signs of a physical altercation.
All three victims died as a result of a single bullet to the head.
There was hardly any blood at the crime scene.
Right, it's possible the killer cleaned up.
Or relocated the bodies.
Hmm.
The missing fingernails Was he tortured? The fingernails were extracted postmortem.
What's that about? The Max Rager cans stuffed in his pocket [SCOFFS.]
Tuttle worked for Fillmore-Graves, the company that bought out Max Rager.
Why does a private military contractor buy out an energy drink company? There's not a lot of brainstormers in the group, huh? - Where's the kid? - Over here.
[RAVI CLEARS THROAT.]
S.
CAVANAUGH: "Wally Reid.
11 years old.
" That's a lot of broken bones for a kid that age.
Any recent signs of abuse? Do you cook for all your neighbors or were Wally and Anna special? They lived right next door to me.
Sometimes you get sucked in your neighbors' drama.
Wally's father was a bit of a nightmare.
MAN: Get out here, Wally! Did you do this? ANNA: Leave him alone, Rick.
You have a problem.
MAN: I don't have a problem! You're the problem here! You! I'm trying to teach this boy how to be a man and you're babying him! ANNA: It's nothing! We can glue it back.
MAN: Just shut your mouth! Shut it! - ANNA: He's a nine-year-old - Shut up! - [SLAPS.]
- -[GLASS SHATTERING.]
What the hell do you want? I want to borrow a cup of sugar.
You think just 'cause you're a cop you can come bargin' in here? You're a cop? - Dad hit mom.
- You whiny little Whoa, there, big fella.
Assaulting an officer, not your best move.
[GROANING.]
CLIVE: You have the right to remain silent.
I'll bet you know the rest, but I'll run through it anyway.
The father had priors, wound up getting eight months in county.
I can see how you might become their "in case of emergency.
" Anything comes up, let me know ASAP, all right? RAVI: Of course.
You okay? Yeah.
[SIGHS.]
Sounds like Cavanaugh is starting his investigation at Fillmore-Graves.
Let's give it a day before we head over there.
Better we don't cross paths.
STAN: You can't stay mad at me forever, jelly bean.
CINDY: There is literally nothing more annoying than you calling me jelly bean.
STAN: Nothing? Not even when I sing '80s rock ballads or talk like a dolphin? - Motoring - Oh, my God.
You're not even funny.
[IMITATES DOLPHIN.]
I can't believe you're pretending to be a fish right now when you're basically ruining my entire life.
I know things seem dire right now.
- Fifteen is an emotional - Oh, my God, can you please not? You're motoring What's your price for flight [TIRES SCREECHING.]
Victims are Stan Chen and his daughter Cindy.
Stan was driving Cindy to ice skating practice around 4:00 a.
m Ouch.
When someone T-boned their car.
That's when I should've said "ouch.
" Hit and run? The crime scene tech says the other vehicle was accelerating at the point of impact.
Kind of an ill-conceived murder plan, isn't it? A smashed-up vehicle is a pretty difficult weapon to hide.
Maybe not.
A big truck could've rammed into a subcompact like this and driven away with not much more than a scratched-up bumper.
What? Nothing.
Major and I haven't eaten since Janko, so Oh.
Two brains.
That is convenient.
So that's what you You get to a crime scene, and you think So, she's gonna She just cooks 'em up right RAVI: It's better if you don't over think it.
MAJOR: Mmm.
Something smells good.
Oh.
Just in the nick of time.
What're we looking at here? This is Stanley Chen, 50-year-old regional bank manager.
And this is his 15-year-old ice skating enthusiast daughter.
Ah.
Dibs on the dad.
You guys know I hate the cold, and I would love to get my finances in order.
You should eat the daughter.
Words I never thought I'd hear myself say.
The new normal.
God, I hope not.
High-powered banker.
Odds are he, not the high school sophomore, was the intended target.
Liv's already partaken of banker brain.
[SIGHS.]
It's just I'm not so sure this is the best time for me to be on teenage girl brain.
I'm getting closer to finding Natalie and I just started mercenary training.
And what? You're worried there'll be math? - No.
- Suck it up, Lilywhite.
I was a teenage girl for seven whole years.
I think you can handle a week.
Besides, you might have a vision of a license plate, or something.
Yeah, of course.
You're close to finding Natalie? Close-er.
One of the Chaos Killer victims told me he thawed out in the Max Rager basement in time to see Natalie begging Janko to call a number.
She said that the guy on the other end would pay big bucks for her.
Guess who had a vision of Natalie whispering that number to Janko? I wanna say Major Lilywhite Boom! That number seems like a dangerous thing to have.
I could run the number.
See if it's traceable.
Yeah.
Sure.
Look at us.
All working together to solve mysteries.
We should get a van and a dog.
[CHUCKLES.]
Mmm.
You ready to head to Stan's bank? So ready.
Do you think I should text that number? I don't know.
I'm worried that it could put Natalie in danger.
I think you should wait to see if Clive has any luck tracing it.
I need to find her before things go south for me.
When I have to take the cure, and I lose my memory.
Maybe you won't lose your memory.
You think Blaine is faking the memory loss? Actually, I was thinking of getting my memory cure dialed in if you can hold on long enough.
But I wouldn't put anything past Blaine.
Sorry.
Any mention of Blaine hurtles me into the abyss.
Peyton left me a message saying she wants to talk.
She wants to talk? [SIGHS.]
What does that even mean? Well, I'm fairly certain it means she wants to talk.
Okay, is she the single most selfish person on the planet? She literally made you Eskimo brothers with Satan.
- She doesn't deserve face time with you.
- She doesn't? She slept with Blaine, which, first of all, ew, and second of all, I can't even.
Oh.
Do you think perhaps you might be reacting a bit more dramatically than usual due to your recent meal? It's actually called being supportive.
You should maybe try it some time.
Oh, my God! Was that just so super bitchy? I am so sorry.
Oh, good God.
It just really hurts me when someone hurts you, you know? You're like my best friend ever.
For real.
Wait.
We're totally best friends, right? Yes.
[SIGHS.]
Summer after high school when we first met We made out in your Mustang to Radiohead And on my 18th birthday we got matching tattoos It is so you and Peyton.
Oh! How about turning it down a couple hundred decibels, sparky? I don't think Miley Perry Gomez wants her fans going deaf.
God, you are so embarrassing.
Stop trying to be funny.
Lower the music, young man.
- It's not even - Major - But I'm just trying - Don't make me ask you again.
Whatever.
I'm turning it down.
So, this is happening.
It took me 20 minutes to get out of the parking lot because Liv insisted on checking my oil.
Here it's been all selfies and sour gummies, and Demi Lovato.
How did you make out at the bank? Oh, we came up empty.
But this guy right here.
You cannot believe how good he is at interviewing people.
We talked to all of Stan's coworkers.
Everybody loved him.
What did they say he was again? Enthusiastic and supportive.
The memory on this guy.
See, I know what's happening right now with the brain but it still freaks me out.
Well, If anyone can get used to it, it's you.
I guess I'll start looking into his friends at Knights of Columbus and his bowling league.
Where you off to, kiddo? I have mercenary training.
God! Don't text and drive.
Stop trying to control me.
It's a lot different going over the wall with your gear on.
Your holster is gonna snag on everything.
Can I help you with something, newbie? Your abs make me want to kill myself.
You're basically carved out of marble and I'm just like this, like, hideous blob of dead fat.
I'm on teen girl brain.
I'm sorry.
- You're not on the tubes? - Tubes? We all get these.
Bunch of brains mashed together.
No visions.
No crazy mood swings.
Oh, thank God.
I cannot stop taking selfies, and then I stare at them and I just, I criticize myself.
I mean look at this.
Ugh.
I look like ass in every picture.
Gross, right? We have to take this to the authorities.
What? We can't! Winslow will never forgive me! I went through a list of Cindy's classmates.
She had four classes with a girl named Winslow Sutcliffe.
Winslow is the name you heard in your vision, right? - Yeah.
- Look at you, having helpful visions.
You have no idea what was on Cindy's phone? Why she was worried Winslow wouldn't forgive her? In the visions, the phone was facing the wrong direction.
Like this.
She was telling her dad.
And he was all, "We have to take this to the authorities.
" And she was all, "You're ruining my life.
" And I was all, "Why can't I just eat a Fillmore-Graves brain tube thing, because visions are super annoying.
" Whoa.
What's a "Fillmore-Graves brain tube thing?" It's like a yogurt tube full of mashed-up brains.
No personalities.
No visions.
I'm pretty psyched to try it.
No, no, no, no.
If they wanna eat brain mash, let them eat brain mash.
But in this house, we eat whole brains and we solve murders.
Can we get back to the point here? If we want to know what's on Cindy's phone, it seems like a pretty easy problem to solve.
Cindy didn't see what was on the phone, but Stan did.
All we have to do is "We have to take this to the authorities!" - What the - Wait.
The angle is probably wrong because Cindy was shorter.
"We have to take this to the authorities.
" Great idea, champ.
But it's not working.
Detective Babineaux.
I was summoned? I asked IT to send me down a guy.
I didn't use a Ouija board.
I'm hoping you can get something off of this for me.
I have reason to believe there's a photo on this phone that would be useful on the Chens case.
- That's a phone? - I figured it was a long shot.
You mind pulling up the female victim's phone records and checking out her social media? That is within the realm of the possible.
Hallelujah.
A zombie mayor The district attorney who drove Mr.
Boss out of the country and survived the basement labs of Max Rager.
I like our chances.
I hope he doesn't scratch any babies while he's out working the trail.
Gotta say, buddy.
That's more than a little offensive.
Seems like a reasonable concern.
Sensitivity to our kind will come with time.
Any updates on the Reid-Tuttle murder case? We were hoping to interview some of your employees, people who knew the family.
Of course.
Detective Cavanaugh was here yesterday, but people will talk more freely to you.
They know you're on our team.
Can you think of anyone who might've had a reason to harm the family? Yeah.
Humans.
Humans who want to see us eradicated.
Have you listened to the radio lately? The Chuck Burd show? These morons calling in, talking about how they wanna get their chance to shotgun some brain eaters.
Bring it on is what I say.
Feeling froggy, bubbas? Let's get to hopping.
My students can hear their parents talking.
Somehow it all gets filtered back to them.
They want to know when the humans are coming to get them.
Losing any of our kids would've been tragic but Losing Wally? He was beloved.
And Anna, she was a teacher's aide.
She loved working with the kids.
I got the sense that Anna was finally happy.
So, you maintained a relationship with Anna while her husband was in jail? If by that you mean if I helped her out occasionally - Yeah.
- Helped her out, how? [KNOCK ON DOOR.]
[TV PLAYING.]
Hey, neighbor cop.
I'm so sorry to bother you but my shift starts in 20 minutes and my sitter just canceled and I know this is a lot to ask, but is there any chance you can fill in for me at the diner? Uh Joking! But maybe Wally can hang out at your place tonight? See what I did there? [SIGHS.]
Does the place you work have pie? All kinds.
What's your pleasure? Surprise me.
You're a life saver.
Come on, Wally.
- Mr - Clive.
You're gonna hang out with Clive tonight.
Please be good, okay? Thank you.
Um You want to watch a little TV or something? You ever see Game of Thrones? [SWORDS CLASHING AND HORSES NEIGHING ON TV.]
[KNOCK ON DOOR.]
Hey, there.
Trade you a pie for a boy.
Cool.
Wally's asleep on the couch.
- Did it go okay? - Easy-peasy.
We've been binging Game of Thrones.
Well, Wally fell asleep three episodes in.
I'm a little too into it.
I'm sorry, you let a nine-year-old watch Game of Thrones? It was his suggestion.
So? He said he was allowed to watch it.
And you believed him? You know, it did seem, um, permissive.
Every time there was nudity or a beheading, I'd, like Like I am so sorry.
Oh, you're screwing with me? [CHUCKLES.]
I'm not really mad, if that's what you're asking.
But in the future, Wally suggesting something does not mean it has been approved.
In fact, it probably means the opposite.
[CHUCKLING.]
LIV: Thanks for coming in.
You back with us? You kind of spaced out.
[EXHALES.]
No, I'm good.
Everyone here is so worried about what they're saying on the radio, I thought maybe I'd ask Ravi to listen to the latest Chuck Burd shows.
That's a good idea.
I had a thought about our interview with Cindy's friend but I'm not so sure this one is a good idea at all.
Murder? I thought it was an accident.
Everyone at school said it was a hit-and-run.
The evidence suggests there was intention.
[SIGHS.]
Oh, my God.
That second matchbook should've done the trick.
Good to go.
[LIV CLEARS THROAT.]
We have reason to believe you and Cindy were on the outs.
What? I loved her to death.
Is that so? Then why did you unfriend her on Facebook, the night before she was murdered? What? Zip it.
You and Cindy exchanged 16 texts that night after which you unfriended her.
You mind my asking what those 16 texts were about? I was just upset.
Cindy could be super judgmental about everything I did.
What was she judging you about? I don't know.
Just stuff.
Where were you at 4:00 a.
m.
the morning Cindy was killed? Sleeping? I quit ice skating last year because I couldn't take getting up early all the time.
So you knew the route the Chens took to practice? Yeah.
But I don't even have a driver's license.
What exactly were in those texts, Winslow? Your friend was dead just hours after she sent them.
- Surely - Oh, my God! Badger much? She just found out her best friend was murdered.
Major Nathaniel Lilywhite! Don't even.
We have to take this to the authorities.
What? We can't.
Winslow will never forgive me.
Anything you want to ask, Miss Moore? Winslow, I know being a teenager is hard.
Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt.
You said Cindy was judgmental.
Was it about your clothes, or maybe about a guy? You can tell me anything.
I gotta go.
My stepdad is here to pick me up.
CLIVE: Thank you for your help.
That was standing back and being quiet? I said, like, maybe a sentence.
God! It wasn't like I saw what was on Cindy's phone.
It was a selfie Winslow took.
She was in bed with a shirtless man.
The man appeared to be in his 40s.
- Ew.
- Yeah.
And he just came to pick her up.
The shirtlesman in the pictures was Winslow's stepfather.
I'm, like, so grossed out right now.
That's why Stan wanted to go to the police.
So, we gonna go arrest him, or What do we really have? I mean, your vision? A photo of a sleeping man? I mean, in the photo, did it look like she was there against her will? She was making a kissy face and giving a thumbs up.
Consensual or not, if they're having sex, it's statutory rape.
That's something someone might kill to cover up.
We need to see what else is on Winslow's phone.
I'll to try to find a judge who'll give us a warrant.
You okay, buddy? I know this must all be pretty confusing for you.
Oh, my God.
Don't even.
Where are you going? Do you need any money? Winslow's mother owns this place but the stepfather runs it.
Should I be the first to point out that a cradle robber works at a nursery? You know Sutcliffe Park, Sutcliffe Marina, - Sutcliffe Boulevard? - Yeah.
All named for Winslow's family.
A couple of years ago, Winslow's mother leaves her stockbroker husband and runs off with their landscaper, marries him, and buys him this business.
He takes her name.
And then he takes her daughter.
Scandalous.
Well, look what we have here.
- No signs of damage.
- Shoot.
LIV: There he is.
Mr.
Sutcliffe, Detective Babineaux.
Seattle PD.
My associate Olivia Moore.
Is Winslow around? My wife is picking her up from school.
Everything okay? That flatbed truck out front, who drives it? I do.
Why? Does Winslow have access to it? She doesn't have her driver's license.
And a truck like that with a stick shift, I doubt she'll ever drive one.
Can you tell me how well you knew Stan and Cindy Chen? I knew 'em a fair bit.
Cindy and Winslow were like soul-sisters.
And Stan I used to see at skating practice before Winslow gave it up.
Where were you on Monday at 4:00 a.
m.
? He was in bed sleeping.
Next to me.
I'm Tori, Ken's wife.
What is this all about? We're investigating the murder of Stan and Cindy Chen.
And right now we're checking alibis.
Why on Earth would Ken need an alibi? Just covering our bases.
Winslow came home in tears after you questioned her yesterday.
- She's a good girl, Detective.
- No one's saying she's not, but the Chen's car was crushed by a large truck, like the one outside.
And we know your daughter and Cindy were having a fight.
You really think I We have a warrant for Winslow's phone.
But it's my phone.
Hand the detective your phone, Winslow.
Mom! Hand it over.
Did you fix the wheels on my rolly chair? I just replaced the casters.
Gave them a shot of oil.
Oh.
I, uh I think I have a new understanding of what it must be like to not be able to control what goes on inside your own head.
Something on your mind, Sport? I can't stop thinking about Peyton and Blaine.
And it's driving me crazy.
I've been avoiding Peyton because I'm fairly certain I'm gonna behave badly and blow everything up.
You want to know what I think? Maybe.
I think you should give yourself a little more credit.
If you were gonna fly off the handle, you would've done so.
But you didn't.
Because you're better than that.
- I'm not sure that's true.
- You are.
Even if you don't see it.
I do.
The best thing you can do for yourself and for Peyton is be honest.
Be direct.
And be Ravi.
Because Ravi is a pretty cool guy.
Thanks, Dad Brain.
You find anything on those old Chuck Burd shows? Not yet.
Well, get back to work.
There's a crisp five dollar bill in it for you if you do.
Oh! The smoke detector batteries probably need a change.
On it.
- Guess what I just found out? - What? I just found out that our girl Winslow received this citation for driving without a license a couple months ago.
She was in a Fiesta hatchback.
With a stick shift.
"Good girl" my Aunt Fanny.
I realize that, Your Honor.
We know there's not enough for a murder charge.
We're just looking for a way to get the minor away from her abuser.
I've just seen these things end ugly.
I understand.
Thanks for your time.
Do the ninja chop thing.
They're supposed to be cubed.
Come on.
[EXCLAIMS.]
[EXCLAIMING.]
Let me try.
Anna, do you let Wally play with big, sharp chef knives? Rarely.
Nice.
You're getting it.
You, go get washed up.
You went to the semolina lady? Got some creste Di gallo.
And the last bottle of that olive oil you like.
The sun-dried tomato crack? Well done, you.
[GLASS CLINKS.]
I skyped with my brother Caleb today.
He's coming back from overseas.
He looked thin.
He'll be back in a couple weeks and I told him I'd try to get you to make your paella.
That's great.
I think I might take Wally and go stay with Caleb when he gets back.
Yeah? A restraining order's just a piece of paper.
I'm afraid this is gonna be Rick's first stop when he gets out.
Anna I'm right next door.
You've already done so much for us.
I never want it to seem like I take you for granted.
Hey Take me for granted.
Get it over with already.
[GIGGLES.]
Detective.
Mrs.
Sutcliffe.
I'm sorry.
I was just a little, um, spaced out.
My husband killed Stan and Cindy Chen.
My daughter confessed to me last night that she's been having Relations with my husband.
Her stepfather.
Consensual, though as she now knows, illegal.
After you came to see us yesterday, Ken took off.
Took off? He packed his things, stole some of my money, and left without telling us where he's going.
His phone goes straight to voice-mail.
What motivation would your husband have for killing Cindy and Stan? Winslow.
About a week ago Ken broke things off.
I hadn't told anyone about us, but I was so upset, and Cindy could see it.
I needed someone to talk to.
So I told her.
That's what Cindy was judgmental about? The affair? Cindy told her dad, and they were gonna go to the police.
That's why I unfriended her.
When I came into work after Stan and Cindy had been killed, I noticed that Ken had taken the bush bumpers off the truck.
I didn't think anything of it at the time, but now, I think he was hiding evidence.
Bush bumpers? They mount on the front of a truck bumper.
Off-roaders use them.
Our work requires them sometimes.
Winslow, how did Ken know that Stan and Cindy planned on going to the police? I didn't tell him.
[KNOCK ON DOOR.]
Excuse us for a moment.
So those missing texts? It's what I expected.
The reference pointer was just remapped to null.
So I bytemapped an image of the OS footprint, loaded up a hex editor, and did some educated regex grepping, and English, please.
The girl destroyed her texts.
But I Resurrected them.
Therein lies the last exchange between the two adolescents.
Take heed of Winslow's final text.
You ever been to Perversion? It's on 9th.
- I think you'd really - Got it.
"You, expletive, expletive.
" "I can't believe you told your dad.
" "If he goes to the, expletive, police" "You're, expletive, dead.
" Winslow.
Winslow knew Stan was going to the police.
The only way Ken would have had that information is if Winslow had told him.
That's not necessarily true.
TORI: That took a while.
Sorry.
There are a lot of moving parts in this case, but I think they're starting to finally line up.
There are things we know in the case.
The killer knew the route to the ice skating practice.
The killer needed access to a big truck.
Ken fits the bill, doesn't he? The killer also had to know that Stan Chen planned on going to the authorities.
So, how would the killer know that? Winslow says she didn't tell him.
Winslow, our technology expert found an app on your phone called Tinker Spy.
- I don't know what that is.
- It's an app marketed to parents.
It's installed secretly on their kid's phones to keep tabs on them.
It works on a monthly subscription.
Anything you do on your phone, all calls, all texts, they get recorded and passed along to the subscriber.
Ken was spying on me? There is a phone number associated with the credit card used for the Tinker Spy subscription.
My colleague is calling it now.
[LINE RINGING.]
[CELL PHONE VIBRATING.]
You? What you did was disgusting.
You seduced my husband, and the whole world was gonna know.
We would've both been disinherited.
You stupid, selfish girl.
Well, the whole world is certainly going to know now.
Tori Sutcliffe, you are under arrest for the murders of Stanley and Cindy Chen.
Winslow is going to be staying with an aunt on Vashon Island for a while.
I'll put an APB out on Ken for the sexual assault.
He's gonna have a hell of a head start.
Amateurs like this guy always screw up.
He'll use a cell phone or a credit card and we'll nab him.
I just sent you a link to a clip from the Chuck Burd show.
I've finally heard something I think may be relevant.
CLIVE: Let's see.
Here it is.
CALLER: Straight up, Chuck.
My dog was digging in the neighbor's trash, and when I was cleaning up, I found brains in there.
They were in these tubes, kind of like those squeezy yogurt things.
I would've thought it was just another crazy person, but Major said they eat brains from tubes at Fillmore-Graves.
I'll call the radio station.
They keep records of the callers.
I'll let you know when I have something.
Thanks for the help on the case.
I believe there was mention of a crisp five dollar bill.
Ah.
A man of her word.
Wanna grab a coffee? I'm buying.
Sure.
Did you decide what to do about Peyton? I'm gonna call her.
Try to talk things out.
Attaboy.
Hold up.
[SIGHS.]
I got an address for that caller.
You okay, Clive? Turns out he lived next door to Wally, Anna and Caleb.
Let's go.
MAN: [OVER SPEAKER.]
Who is it? Mr.
Huntsman.
Seattle PD.
We have a few questions about the murders that happened next door.
I already talked to the police.
Yeah, you know how in movies and on TV shows the police come back sometimes with follow-up questions? That's what's happening now.
Can I see that badge again? Photographic memory, Detective Babineaux.
Can you tell me what kind of relationship you had with your neighbors? Mmm-hmm.
The nonexistent kind.
I keep to myself.
Did you hear that your neighbors were all shot in the head? He's asking because if you were to believe you lived next door to zombies, you might choose to fix that problem by shooting your neighbors in the head.
And from the recordings we have of the Chuck Burd show, it sure sounds like you believed you had a zombie problem.
Where were you that night, Mr.
Huntsman? [CHUCKLES.]
No, you don't.
Okay? I won't be your patsy.
First, I was in Portland at my sister's wedding.
Second, I'm not the only one who knew I had brain eaters living next door.
And who else might've known? See? What am I looking at? Message board.
- For whom? - People who get it.
Get that the government experiments on its citizenry, unleashes monsters.
And that's what happened at Max Rager.
Posted the same information here that I gave on Chuck's show.
Look at the responses.
"Stockpile your ammo" "Aim for the head.
" "Zombies live here.
" LIV: That's Wally's home.
I never gave my address.
Somebody must've hacked my profile and found it.
Everyone on this message board, a few hundred people, knew I had brain eaters living next door.
I'd love to see some photos from your sister's wedding.
You got any of those? Anyone who visited this message board had access to Caleb and Anna's address.
And the neighbor? His alibi checks out.
"If you know where other zombies live, post it here.
" They're hunting us.
Twenty-one months and 21 days.
- Until what? - Since what? When this all began, we hypothesized we had roughly three years before the civilian population learned our secret.
Looks like we gave ourselves too much credit.
It's been 21 months and 21 days since the 4th of July retreat when everyone was turned.

She didn't want to stay in touch.

I know.
We done here? Sure.
So, that letter - What? - The letter.
When did you get it? Twenty-two months ago.
You ever think how differently things might've turned out if you'd have been around when her ex got out? Once or twice.
