Las Vegas s01e21 Episode Script

Family Jewels

[Fast-paced instrumental music.]
We need you upstairs.
So it's my turn to talk to the employee evaluation shrink.
- I wouldn't worry about that guy.
- Don't worry? I heard Brunson fired half the staff in New Orleans 'cause Dr.
Wilson said the people were "psychologically incompatible with corporate culture.
" Rehearse your answers later.
Right now Ed needs you to talk to Luis.
What's going on? A diamond merchant had $5 million in loose stones ripped off from his suite.
MIKE: So, why do they want me up here? One of our forensics guys is covering a homicide and the other's at a conference.
LUIS: I saw that virtual model you built for the Van Damme case.
You're pretty good at this stuff.
My reputation precedes me.
MIKE: A diamond salesman getting his freak on in the stripper-pole suite.
I like that.
All we need to know is if anybody entered that sealed window in the last eight hours whether it's another room, a window washer's platform, anything.
We're 18 floors up.
Have we eliminated all ambulatory escape routes? - "Ambulatory escape routes"? - By foot, Danny.
I apologise.
Sheldon Rosenberg, our diamond merchant.
He checks in, enters the room with a satchel of diamonds.
The two security guards stay outside.
We checked all the hallway surveillance tapes.
Nothing.
The only other person to enter the room was a bellman.
- Archie Druzinski.
You know him? - Not really.
We searched him, we searched his locker we checked all his movements since he left this room.
Nothing.
It's a big hotel.
Excuse me there, Luis.
A lot of places one could stash loose diamonds.
Loose diamonds.
MIKE: Has anyone sat him down? Danny? DANNY: Yeah.
If you really had no involvement in this, whatsoever I didn't.
Look, the police, they searched me.
They searched my locker.
You think I don't know about all these surveillance cameras around? - I'd have to be stupid.
- Very, very stupid.
But if you had nothing to do with it here's what I'm left with: Spider-Man.
Spider-Man's pulling diamond heists in Las Vegas.
[Theme music.]
[Upbeat instrumental music.]
MAN: Stella! Stella, we're late! Where are you? MAN: Come on.
Come on.
They're waiting for us.
COLE: Samantha.
SAM: Cole.
COLE: How are you? - Welcome back.
Did you bring Christina? - Always Christina.
You don't care about me? I do, deeply.
Did she make the cookies? CHRISTINA: Sam.
SAM: Christina! You didn't think I'd forget about you guys.
[Exclaiming in excitement.]
You'll have to excuse me.
I can't control myself.
Listen, I got to tell you, my clients bring me a lot of presents: Jewellery, clothes.
I got a car, once.
I gave it back.
But I look forward to your cookies the most.
- I helped.
- Helped? You ate half of them.
Your regular suite is ready.
Christina, you're next door as usual.
I need a different suite.
One with an extra bathroom and more closet space.
Add that additional suite.
You never know when someone might stop by.
- It's for me.
- Oh, hey.
Sam.
- Liza, my fiancee.
- Hi.
SAM: Hey.
LIZA: We're getting married here tomorrow.
Yeah.
We just, you know, literally got inspired.
- We saw all the brides walking around - Yeah.
You know, those are models.
There's a wedding convention in the hotel.
LIZA: Should make the preparations that much easier.
- It's Cole's going-away party, too.
- Where's he going? I'm not a fan of the whole Vegas thing, so this'll be our last trip out.
[Laughing.]
Great.
[Phone ringing.]
[Suspenseful instrumental music.]
MAN: Table 16, green jacket.
Mitch.
Roll on down to the casino and get me a couple of Christina's cookies.
And put it in high, will you? MARY: What do you know about this corporate shrink who's interviewing everybody? NESSA: He uncovers pathological behaviour even if he has to twist your words to do it.
- Linda in housekeeping said he was nice.
- Which makes him all the more dangerous.
I'm telling you, it's name, rank, and serial number time.
I know.
[Laughing.]
Okay.
New silicone seals emit trace amounts of methyl alcohol.
I copped this chemical analyser from our pesticide guy.
LUIS: And? MIKE: Nothing.
These windows weren't touched.
- Are those Christina's cookies? - Yeah.
I didn't get a thing from Archie the bellman except that I'm sure that he hasn't got the balls or the brains to pull this off.
Mike said that the window hasn't been breached.
Maybe Rosenberg is pulling an insurance scam.
No, the stones aren't insured.
If they're gone, he's out $5 million.
ED: So, basically, the diamonds didn't go out the door.
They didn't go out the window.
- Perfect crime.
- Hear that, partner? - Partner? - The gauntlet's been thrown, baby.
Yeah, he'll be right down there.
Don't you have any cars to park? No Yeah, well DANNY: Go park a car.
Mr.
Deline.
Mr.
Deline.
I'd like to do some of my interviews in the workplace just on the fly.
That's great.
As long as it doesn't interfere with operations.
I didn't see your name on the personnel list that you gave me, though.
ED: Exactly.
That's because you don't need to interview me.
WILSON: Mr.
Brunson thinks I do.
WILSON: Here.
See, "If Ed Deline tries to avoid an interview "which I expect he will, have him call me, and I will require him to do so.
" I can read that.
See, I'm learning something new about you already.
[Laughs.]
That's swell.
Look, if you think that your big-time job is to come here and try to dismantle my staff you're sadly mistaken.
- I'll find you.
- Good.
Goodbye.
- Trash that, Susie.
- Yes, sir.
ED: You talk to that psychiatrist yet? No.
Did you? No.
I don't have to.
But, when you do - you be real careful, you hear? - I got nothing to hide.
You know what this numbskull's doing, don't you? Some kind of feel-good mental health awareness program, isn't it? Try a slash-and-burn mission.
See, I checked this guy out.
Brunson sends him in whenever he wants to downsize.
He'll give you this "let's just chat" routine while painting a bull's-eye on your back.
If he wants to fire people, why doesn't he just do it? He needs a just cause excuse like some psychologist telling him you're a head case.
I eat guys like this for breakfast, okay? You know, you keep up that smart-ass attitude, I'm gonna fire you.
ED: Your Dr.
Feel-good, in the meantime has had 43 guys ash-canned in all our properties.
What? Excuse me.
Did I get your attention? DELINDA: Hey, Daddy.
ED: Hi, honey.
Hey, Danny.
DELINDA: I know how much you like Christina's cookies so I grabbed you a couple.
ED: Thank you.
- Those are amazing.
- Yeah.
They are the best.
- Crunchy.
- Yeah.
You know, I haven't had one since she's been here.
Not even one.
Sorry.
DELINDA: Mystique calls.
I gotta get back to work.
- Bye, guys.
- Bye, honey.
Bye.
ED: Think they got any milk around here? I mean, a cookie this good needs a really good cold glass of milk with it.
ED: Are those Rosenberg's security guards? DANNY: Yeah.
Though with our video IQ and Metro's body search they couldn't have snuck a BB out of here.
You're not gonna give me that other cookie, are you? No.
We're bringing in fresh flowers from our greenhouses.
The designer, Koko Voci, will be here to fit you for your dress.
I changed my mind about the garden wedding.
It should be formal.
- I ordered the flowers.
- Change them.
Book a musical act.
Somebody big.
It'll bring the press.
You want all this by tomorrow? Is there a problem with that? Forgive me but I think what you want sounds a lot like the Zeta-JoneslDouglas wedding.
Really? - Ostentatious is out.
- Absolutely.
It's very 2000.
I guess a garden wedding would be lower key.
But just as fashionable.
And maybe, while we wait for Koko, you could go to the Forum Shops for a bit.
LIZA: I guess that would be okay.
MARY: Okay.
Zeta-Jones wedding.
Man, talk about pulling that one out of nowhere.
Liza is She's very predictable.
Excuse me.
I want to get back to Cole.
I always stand next to him when he plays.
Mary.
I almost forgot.
I remembered that you like yours with nuts in them.
Thank you.
Look, if you'd like a break, mention my name to anybody at the spa.
- They'll set you up with whatever you'd like.
- I couldn't.
Please.
You got cookies, I got massages.
Just let me treat, okay? - Okay.
- Okay.
Gotta run.
WILSON: Mary Connell.
MARY: Yeah.
WILSON: Yeah, I'm Dr.
Wilson.
MARY: Hi.
- Do you have a moment? - Yeah.
Hey.
I gotta get me some of those cookies.
Look, if you want to play Jon to my Ponch, you gotta keep your eye on the prize.
MIKE: You hear me? [Phone rings.]
MIKE: Now, that's the satchel.
Archie's in and out.
According to the police report, Rosenberg kept his eyes on him the whole time.
How the hell did you get a copy of the police report? Stay on topic.
MIKE: No one comes in or out until This here is when Rosenberg discovers the rocks are gone and calls the guards in.
I've been through this footage a dozen times.
We're not gonna know what happened unless we had a camera there.
Did you guys eat all of Christina's cookies? MAN: Nice.
Beautiful.
Shouldn't I be lying on some sort of a couch or something telling you about my dreams? Normally I like to lash my patients to a chair and shine a bright light in their eyes until they break.
Yeah, now's not a good time.
I'm planning a wedding.
Tell me about your relationship with Danny McCoy.
Who told you about that? And what does it have to do with my job? MAN: Okay, very happy.
I cannot believe that Cole is gonna end up with a girl like Liza.
Can you say diva? You're upset that Liza won't let him gamble anymore.
No.
It's not that.
It's not entirely that.
There's no accounting for taste.
As long as he's happy.
Yeah, look at him.
That's not happy.
Six the hard way.
Six.
SAM: Here you go.
Take that for me.
[Woman exclaiming.]
SAM: How's the groom-to-be? Nervous? COLE: Okay, I guess.
- Dice not rolling your way? - No, I'm up about $15,000.
Good for you.
So, where's your partner in crime? Christina? She spent the day at the spa.
- No reason she shouldn't have a good time.
- Like you? CROUPIER: Ten.
Double nickels the hard way.
Ten.
ED: What about Wilson? DANNY: He's conducted 17 interviews.
George in Accounting spent the session talking about his dog, Arlo.
- Yeah, I saw the pictures.
Who's next? - Delinda.
ED: Good.
DANNY: Good? ED: Yeah.
Aren't you afraid she's gonna say something you don't want him to hear? ED: I'm gonna tell you a secret.
- You know what a secret means, don't you? - Yeah.
When Delinda was a kid, I worked for the CIA and she used to make up stories to cover for me.
- How about that? - She's gonna be okay.
[Women cheering.]
[Rhythmic instrumental music.]
You knew that Danny worked for your father yet you took him up to the suite and made love to him knowing that there were surveillance cameras all over the hotel.
You have that, "What was she thinking?" look.
You're right.
I mean, I guess I wasn't thinking.
When Daddy caught us, he looked like he was going to explode.
It was all very dramatic.
Do you think that you wanted to get caught? To get back at my father for not spending time with me when I was a kid or for making me worry every time he went on a business trips? Because I'm jealous of his relationship with Danny, or to be the focus of attention even at the risk of embarrassing both my father and my lover? [Stuttering.]
You know, I must say you are unusually self-aware.
Do you always engage in such risky behaviour? I do.
Do you feel compelled to take risks? Compelled how? Via the psychosexual constructs of Freud or the more ego neo-analytics of Jung and Adler? Doc, don't tell me you're considering the cognitive ideation theories of Bandura and Kelly.
I was a Psych major until I realised the biggest problem people have is that they're boring.
- So, are we done? - I think we are.
DELINDA: Yeah.
WILSON: Why? 'Cause I'm bored.
Since we both agree I'm not getting anywhere looking at those monitors I'm gonna head upstairs and reconstruct the crime.
[Laughing.]
You run that by Luis, Columbo? - Not exactly.
- Let Metro do their job.
I'm starting to flow with the detective vibe.
You, me, later.
Stripper-pole suite.
MIKE: My man.
DANNY: Stripper-pole suite.
I'll be there.
WILSON: Mr.
McCoy.
You got a moment? DANNY: Maybe later.
WILSON: I just got a couple of questions.
It won't take long at all.
DANNY: I'm sorry, Doc, but not now.
I'm dealing with a major theft a fraternity reunion that crashed a bachelorette party and a fight at the Pai Gow table.
WILSON: Tell me about your relationship with Mary.
I don't have time for this.
WILSON: Any other Montecito employees you've had relations with? [Tense instrumental music.]
Problems with interpersonal relationships probably stemming from his mother's premature death.
Just shut up about that.
I'm sorry.
- I shouldn't have lost my temper.
- It's fine.
I know you have a job to do, but whatever issues I have aren't psychological, okay? All issues are psychological, Danny.
I got a 2-million-square-foot resort to cover and a boss that makes Attila the Hun look like Aunt Susie.
A truckload of Xanax isn't gonna make that any easier.
- That's interesting.
- What's interesting? Mr.
McCoy, expressing your feelings might help you deal with all that stress.
Look, I talk plenty with my friends.
Like Mike and Well, mostly Mike.
Is there a problem with Mary? [Sobbing.]
[Soothing instrumental music playing.]
- Christina, is that you? - Hi.
What's wrong? What's wrong? - Nothing.
- I don't cry before a massage.
I guess I didn't think that Cole's wedding would bother me so much.
You don't like Liza? Or is it that you like Cole? Of course I like him.
Like him, love him, don't want to lose him? [Upbeat dance music playing.]
SAM: You think Christina's in love with Cole? I can spot that goofy look a mile away.
SAM: She's worked for him for years and nothing's ever happened.
Freudian reaction.
Formation and suppression.
Denying feelings due to inappropriate ego defences.
She didn't realise she wanted him till another chick snatched him away.
DELINDA: Now it's too late.
SAM: It's not.
When I saw Cole, he was bummed out.
Maybe he's been thinking of Christina, too.
You think he doesn't want to marry Liza? [Giggles mischievously.]
- This is not a good idea.
- All my ideas are good.
Listen.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how bad would it be if I broke up the wedding the day before? - Twelve.
- Twelve.
Even if I'm keeping an important client? - Fourteen? - I'm fine with fourteen.
Me, too.
Honey.
Honey, I need you to put Wellins and Kaplan on the guest list at Mystique.
- They're coming back into town, okay? - Okay.
- Kaplans - Wellins.
- Okay.
The pen.
- Here.
- Okay.
- What the heck is wrong with you? Mystique is busier than ever and I'm in the middle of breaking up Cole's wedding.
ED: What are you talking about? DELINDA: It's for the best.
He needs an emotional catalyst to help him take that next step.
DELINDA: Yeah.
You know, honey, you realise that taking two semesters of Psychology in between culinary and fashion school really doesn't qualify you to meddle in this guy's life.
That never stopped you.
Love you.
MIKE: Karnoa, Gor.
Aloha, my brothers.
DANNY: That's all right.
We're good.
MIKE: Why are they still here? Because the room's no longer a crime scene and because Rosenberg's checking back in with a new shipment of diamonds.
- I can't believe I'm doing this.
- You ready to re-enact? - Give me the rest of that cookie.
- This is yours right afterwards.
Okay? [Stopwatch beeps.]
MIKE: Rosenberg discovers the diamonds are missing yells for the guards calls security from the bedroom.
- Walk over there.
- Give me the cookie.
You got it.
Afterwards.
Go.
DANNY: Why wouldn't he call from the living room? MIKE: 'Cause I'm feeling the bedroom.
See? It's dead.
He had to use the phone in the bedroom.
MIKE: Wait.
Someone unplugged it.
DANNY: Look, are we done? You think Watson would have said that to Holmes? Who says you're Holmes? I think we should talk to Archie the bellman again.
Anybody could have unplugged that phone.
Sometimes they just fall out by themselves.
But I'm feeling Archie the bellman.
[Stammers.]
[Mumbling.]
My apologies.
No, wait.
I barely chewed it.
[Laughing.]
Thank you, guys, for a wonderful day.
The spa was amazing.
- Cut the crap.
- Excuse me? - We know you're in love with Cole.
- That was smooth.
Since you two are so close, maybe he has feelings for you, too.
Impossible.
I've been with him for eight years.
I would know.
You're into him so you need to make a play for him.
No woman gets her man by sitting on her ass.
- I do.
- Yeah.
You need to do it before he marries Little Miss Priss.
Break up the engagement? Isn't that wrong? No.
ALL: No.
Not if it's true love.
- It is true love, isn't it? - Yes.
- Yes.
- See? Told you.
That's the problem.
He doesn't see me that way.
That's the easy part.
When we finish, he won't be able to take his eyes off you.
- Isn't true love supposed to be blind? - No, it's just a little out of focus.
[Upbeat song playing.]
[Delinda exclaims.]
You look so beautiful.
[All exclaiming.]
[Upbeat song continues.]
WILSON: Mike Cannon.
MIKE: Yeah.
WILSON: You missed your appointment.
WILSON: I looked for you.
They said you were helping the police.
MIKE: Actually, I still am.
WILSON: As head valet? MIKE: Right.
WILSON: It says here you got a Master's in engineering - yet you park cars.
- I make twice as much as a valet plus I'm not really the office type.
Look, man, I'm happy as a valet.
If that's true then what are you doing running around playing cop? Speaking of which, there's a couple things I want to follow up on.
We're working on a big burglary.
Thank you.
WILSON: [Stammering.]
I just had one WILSON: Mr.
Deline.
Excuse me.
ED: You're excused.
You can go.
WILSON: Is now a good time? ED: How about the 12th of never? WILSON: How about 5:00 tomorrow? I'll tell Brunson you're gonna be there so you won't forget.
Why don't you call him now and tell him I forgot tomorrow? MARY: Guys, come on, please.
MARY: I need you on the floor in 30 minutes for the Koko Voci shoot.
Thank you.
MARY: Go on.
WOMAN: Okay, Mary.
Sorry.
MARY: Liza, hello.
I've been working on music for your reception.
Bruce is performing at Shea, Bono's on holiday at Gstaad and Britney won't leave the Palms.
So what you're telling me is that you failed.
So I'll keep looking? WILSON: Sam.
WILSON: I'm Dr.
Wilson.
SAM: I know.
- How you doing? - What's that supposed to mean? [Sam laughs.]
If it's not that, it's, "Tell me your deepest, darkest secret.
" So consider yourself lucky.
- How you doing? - I've been better.
I spent all day trying to break up a long-time client's wedding.
What'd you do? Why? If the marriage goes through, he won't gamble here anymore.
You have a conscience.
Nothing wrong with that.
If I were you, I'd check my tea leaves.
See, I'm not upset that I did it.
I'm upset that it's bothering me.
- A little.
- Okay.
- Maybe you're developing a conscience.
- No.
Maybe I'm losing my edge.
Can't let that happen.
You can't let yourself experience human emotions? Are you kidding? I'm a casino host.
When I came here, I promised myself I was only gonna stay for four months.
Now I've been here eight months unpacked my bags, started to become friends with people.
I'm gonna have to put a stop to all that.
How? I think it's time for me to work somewhere else.
Time to go.
Thanks, Doc.
COLE: How's the wedding shaping up? LIZA: Horribly.
It's like no one here has ever planned a wedding before.
- Where's Christina? She'll know what to do.
- She spent the day at the spa.
- You gave her the day off? - Yeah.
I hope she doesn't plan on getting paid, then.
I need a drink.
[Mary clears throat.]
Cole, can I ask you a personal question? Why am I marrying her? 'Cause I thought I loved her.
COLE: But now the thought of losing Christina It sort of complicates things.
[Upbeat instrumental music.]
Cole, honey, we have wedding issues to discuss.
- Hi.
I am Antonio.
- Christina.
ANTONIO: Pleasure to meet you.
Would you care for a drink? CHRISTINA: Sounds great.
LUIS: You shouldn't have snooped around that room.
Technicalities.
We got a crime to bust.
I got a date with Mary.
I'm already late.
I don't have time.
The living room phone was disconnected, probably by Archie.
I don't know why he did it - but I think he was in on the heist.
- 'Cause of a bum phone? You're sure? [Gunshots.]
[Sinister instrumental music.]
[Car tyres screeching.]
Pretty sure.
[Fast-paced instrumental music.]
ED: You all right? MIKE: I think so.
ED: Did you get the shooter? LUIS: Still looking.
What's the matter with you? The kid's a civilian.
It wasn't his fault, Mr.
D.
Danny and I went back to the suite.
I made Danny go, and I think someone must have seen us.
ED: Is that true? DANNY: Yeah.
LUIS: Thanks, guys.
ED: What? One of our patrol units found a rifle in a storm drain a couple blocks from here.
Ballistics matched it to the one that took shots at us.
Guess what? It's registered to one Archie Druzinski.
Your bellman.
[Fast-paced instrumental music.]
DANNY: What happened to Christina? Who's that guy she's with? Brazilian mining tycoon.
Tin, silver, copper.
Loaded.
I gotta find her.
I shouldn't have given her the day off.
- Are you looking for Christina? - You've seen her? She just went into Mystique.
I was just going into the party.
Want to come? - Yeah, can I? - Let's go.
Sam? You two go ahead.
I have a few phone calls to make.
DELINDA: All right.
CROUPIER: Six the hard way.
Six.
[Woman cheering.]
Nothing wrong with sharing your feelings with a psychologist.
No.
As long as it's on your own time but do you realise the man-hours we're wasting? This has nothing to do with that.
Want me to tell you why this bugs you so much? Please, Oh, Great One, explain it to me.
Because you can't control what everybody's telling him.
- Is that the geek's theory or yours? - That's my theory.
Keep your day job.
All right? [Salsa music playing.]
[Stammering.]
You look beautiful.
You do, too.
I mean, not beautiful.
You know what I mean.
I should tell you - That guy you're with - Yeah? - He's gay.
- Gay? Yeah.
Really? I mean, he obviously doesn't even know it.
I don't want you to get hurt.
That's all.
COLE: You know, he's Come on.
He's a player.
He's gonna get what he wants, and then he's gonna dump you.
- That's what you wanted to tell me? - Yeah.
Then I'm glad you came, because there's something I need to tell you, too.
- Yeah? - I'm giving you my notice.
- You're quitting? - Yes.
CHRISTINA: We both know Liza doesn't want me around so, thanks for everything.
I'll send for my things.
[Salsa music continues.]
Which one is it gonna be? Excuse me? You know.
Which one? The brunette or that blonde I saw you with earlier? I'm supposed to marry the blonde tomorrow.
That's 10 hours.
You gotta decide in 10 hours.
I don't know if I can.
See, if I was drooling over one girl the night before I was gonna marry another it's a pretty good bet that I probably wouldn't say, "I do," the next day.
You know what I'm saying? - Anyway, have a nice night.
- Yeah.
Thanks.
- Enjoying your stay? - I'm having a blast.
WILSON: Didn't your father work for Ed Deline, too? Take 10.
Let's just say my father knew Ed.
What was your relationship like with your father? Very normal.
- How about your father and Ed? - Let me tell you about casino people.
We're different.
We can't be judged on the normal scale.
Therefore our relationships are not normal.
Is that why you work for the man who may be responsible for your father's death? Hit or stand? [Jazzy instrumental music.]
- Hit me.
- Normally one doesn't hit on 17.
Maybe I'm not normal, either.
Twenty-one.
SAM: Cole.
Cole.
Where you going? - Going to end it with Liza.
- You're kidding.
What happened? I realised I want to spend the rest of my life with Christina.
I thought that Liza was right for me, but I know Christina is - and it just hit me all of a sudden.
- Wow! You probably think I'm a jerk for dumping Liza on the eve of our wedding - and going after my assistant.
- Actually, no.
- Can I be frank? - Of course.
I've always felt Christina was a better fit for you.
It just took a makeover and a Brazilian millionaire to get you - No.
It wasn't that.
- Really? No.
It's like someone has just lifted a veil from my eyes.
Doesn't matter who she was with or what she was wearing.
- I have to go tell Liza.
- Yes, yes.
Go follow your heart.
I found Archie's car in one of the satellite parking lots.
- Too bad we can't find Archie.
- It's a start.
I called Luis and notified Ed.
Will you slow down? Mission accomplished.
They left? [Upbeat dance music playing.]
SAM: Hi.
- Sam.
I gotta find Christina now.
- She's gone.
- Gone? Where? - She went to the airport with the Brazilian.
[Suspenseful instrumental music.]
Police business, right? LUIS: Mike.
Looks like we found Archie.
[Tense instrumental music.]
ED: That's too much of a coincidence.
ED: Archie had to be working with somebody who whacked him for his end of the diamonds.
Gotta be.
We searched Archie, and I'm talking the seams of his shoes.
I tracked him on surveillance every minute and Rosenberg watched him the entire time he was in the room.
The only other guys there were the gorillas.
They entered after the diamonds were gone.
Wait.
You guys see this? - What are you looking at? - The shadows.
MIKE: Two of them disappear when Rosenberg and a guard enter the bedroom.
Two shadows, two people.
Am I missing something? Here's the other shadow of the guard that stays in the living room.
See this? MIKE: The shadow gets longer, but not wider.
ED: That means he can't be walking towards the door.
He had to be going, what, up towards the ceiling? I'll be damned.
Come on.
[Upbeat instrumental music.]
COLE: Christina! COLE: Please! I need to talk to you! ANTONIO: She's not interested! - Christina! You're leaving? Just like that? - Yes.
Okay, but I have to tell you something.
See, earlier, at Mystique, I didn't say what I really wanted to say.
CHRISTINA: Really? COLE: What I wanted to say Screw it.
I love you! COLE: I've loved you since the day you came to work for me.
Christina, I said I love you.
Didn't you hear me? - What about Liza? - No, it's over.
Look, I know it's not fair to you, and I don't even know if you feel the same way, but the thing is I [Romantic instrumental music.]
BOTH: Kissy.
Kissy.
[Fast-paced song.]
MIKE: This is the last time.
ED: It better be.
DANNY: I told Rosenberg we were coming up.
ED: What'd he say? DANNY: To bring singles.
[Fast-paced song continues.]
Guy loses $5 million in diamonds and still wants to party.
LUIS: Mike.
God bless strippers.
Mike.
Right.
Okay, you want to hear my theory of the case? That's the police term, right? Now, Rosenberg here walks in with a bag full of stones.
MIKE: You be Rosenberg.
Archie, Ed, you I'll be Archie.
Archie has an identical bag hidden on his luggage cart.
MIKE: This is the luggage cart.
He goes through his paces.
"This is your minibar, sir.
This here's your fax.
"This here is your phone.
" The one he unplugs.
Now, out comes the palm for the tip.
Put the bag down, pay the man.
Now, during which time Archie and his two Hawaiian friends over there rock the misdirect.
Karnoa, you still on Atkins? Rosenberg turns.
Archie makes the switch, hides the diamonds.
Couple of hours later, Rosenberg opens an empty bag.
- One question.
Where's Colonel Mustard? - Would you shut up and let him finish? He panics, yells for Karnoa and Gor to come inside.
Now, Rosenberg tries to call security, but the phone's dead.
It's not working.
It's been unplugged.
So, he runs into the bedroom, makes the call in there which gives Gor enough time to grab the diamonds.
We didn't find any diamonds on him.
MIKE: Excuse me, ladies.
If you don't mind.
Great show.
Excuse me.
If you don't mind.
LUIS: Hey, wait! [Groaning.]
MIKE: Hey! Guys.
I got it.
Come on.
[Fast-paced song continues.]
MIKE: Okay, they reached into the ceiling through this vent.
Then they dropped the rocks into the pole.
Are those for us? [Slow music playing.]
SAM: Thank you for being my Brazilian millionaire, Antonio.
You were great.
You kidding? I almost fell for you.
Any chance I can get the jet for the weekend? No chance in hell.
ANTONIO: Liza's a single woman, now.
SAM: Stop.
Hi.
This is Samantha Marquez.
I'm calling for Steve Wynn.
Yes.
He knows what it's regarding.
ED: Okay.
ED: Here you go.
You know, I notice a rather extensive gap in your employment.
ED: You don't really think I'm gonna tell you anything, do you, Doc? I know you worked for Central Intelligence at one time.
WILSON: If there's any traumas you'd like to discuss anything you say will be entirely confidential.
What are you afraid of? - Losing control.
- Explain.
Elaborate.
I had one other session with a psychologist and I guess I started to feel that he was asking me a few too many questions and I apparently snapped.
They said that I had my fingers around his throat when they pulled me off of him.
- I'm sorry.
Are we through? - I think we are.
ED: Hey, Doc.
Come.
Come here.
ED: Come on.
Have a drink.
Sit down.
Look, Doc I can honestly tell you this.
My whole life, I've always tried my damnedest to do the right thing.
But I had to do a lot of things most people wouldn't think were right.
You understand? - Sometimes I feel the same way.
- Right.
Good luck.
CHRISTINA: There's Mary.
Mary.
COLE: Hey, Mary.
Christina and I want to thank you for all you've done.
We're so excited.
We talked all night, and we want to get married as soon as possible.
Great.
As a matter of fact, I already have a wedding planned.
I just need a bride and groom.
What is the prognosis on my crew? Let's see.
Acute post-traumatic stress disorder repression, separation anxiety autonomic arousal, depression, avoidant personality disorder the ever-present attention deficit disorder and when it comes to you, slight alexithymia and, should we say, a mild case of voluntary dissociative amnesia? I got that, huh? - Don't pretend you know what that means.
- No.
Everybody on your staff is nuts.
Now, wait a sec.
I didn't come here to make individual assessments.
As a team, they work as well together under extraordinarily stressful conditions as any group I've ever studied.
That's great.
WILSON: I'm putting that in my report.
ED: Terrific.
By the way - where do I cash out? - The cage is over there by the sports book.
Listen, I just need to ask you.
What possessed you to hit on that 17? It's Vegas.
I took a shot.
You know, you need to talk to somebody.
[Ed laughs.]
MIKE: See you, Doc.
Good job.
Now, you know I gotta represent for valets everywhere, right? So, are Karnoa and Gor going down for killing Archie? Yeah.
They're gonna go away for quite some time.
MIKE: All right.
ED: Right.
Hey, kid.
I'm real proud of you.
[Up-tempo swing song.]
