Law & Order: Organized Crime (2021) s02e08 Episode Script

Ashes to Ashes

1 In the nation's largest city, the vicious and violent members of the underworld are hunted by the detectives of the Organized Crime Control Bureau.
These are their stories.
Over the last six months, I've been undercover with the Kosta Organization.
You're a cop! I am your best and only chance at getting out of this.
I got your back.
Kilbride's the one who hooked me up with the Marcy Killers.
- He know you're a cop? - No.
I need you to keep this between you and me.
I know you're not Eddie Wagner.
I was able to get him a one-way ticket with $10,000 in his pocket.
I'm very appreciative.
She has a message from Agnes.
Promised her $50,000.
- Was Reggie in court? - He went upstairs to testify.
I got no choice.
[GUNSHOT.]
The K-O is the most dangerous criminal organization New York has ever seen.
This grand jury is unanimous to issue provisional indictments against Jon Kosta and Albi Briscu.
I'll see you tonight.
[DRAMATIC MUSIC.]
They knew we were coming.
- Five blocks out from Besa.
- Do we know who's in there? Place is eerily quiet.
I have Albi and Kosta on DAS entering just over an hour ago.
Nobody's come out since.
Call for additional units.
We're going in.
- The hell are you doing? - Oh, I just wanted to [SIRENS WAILING.]
Ooh.
My ear.
I can't Stabler? Yeah.
I'm here.
- Sarge! - Stabler, you good? I'm good! Sarge, you all right? - What happened? - They detonated something.
They got an arsenal in there.
Are you all right? I need a radio.
10-13.
We have an explosion at, uh - 874.
- 874 Crescent Ave.
We got a bus on the way.
[GUNFIRE.]
- Shots fired! Shots fired! - Stay down! Everybody take cover! On the roof! Multiple shooters! - Go! Go! Go! - I got you! Have a man down! [GRUNTS.]
On the roof! We need eyes up high! Eyes up high! Let's go! [TENSE MUSIC.]
On the roof! All clear.
Jimmy, come on.
Give me a hand.
- Sure.
- Come on.
[TENSE MUSIC.]
Remember surveillance clocked Albi and Kosta entering Besa Boxing Gym just over an hour ago.
Jet, what time do you clock 'em leaving? - We don't.
- What do you mean? We have them going in.
We don't have them coming out.
- You sure about that? - I'm sure they didn't exit through any doors or windows.
How many men did you count going into Besa? I count seven K-O men inside the gym itself, not including Louis Chinaski and the maintenance worker.
Okay, listen up, everybody, there are at least seven men inside.
Heavily armed, with access to RPGs.
All right.
Jet, where's Brewster? He expanded the perimeter to eight blocks and has all points of entry covered.
- They're in there, we got 'em.
- Let's go.
Cho, Maldonado, with me.
All set.
- Captain? - Front door.
- Come on, guys.
- Head up.
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC.]
Let's go, let's get eyes up high, up high.
Come on! Come on! - Shots fired.
Man down.
- Move! Leave him; we gotta go! [GUNFIRE IN DISTANCE.]
Team's upstairs, let's go! Sarge? Sarge, you okay? Front door secure.
On the move.
- You? - Back door secure.
We're on the move along the east wall.
Hey, Kosta and Briscu are probably in the back office.
We're gonna secure the weapons room.
Copy that.
I'm headed to the back office.
We have two unidentified DOAs.
They are not our targets.
Police! Drop your weapon now! - Show us your hands! - Get those hands in the air! Drop your weapon now! Hands up and away! Stabler.
Not Albi.
- Keep going.
- Keep going! I'm in the office.
No Albi, no Kosta.
Wait, what the hell? Stabler, where are you? I'm ten steps away, securing the RPGs.
- You got a problem? - Yeah.
A Black woman with a bullet in her back.
- She look familiar? - Not in the least.
Maybe she's with the Marcy Killers.
Dressed like that? Maybe if she's their accountant.
Jet, we're sending you a picture.
[SIGHS, GROANS.]
[TABLET CHIMES.]
- Court reporter? - What do you mean? From the grand jury indictments.
She was in our conference room with ADA Chen and Mrs.
Bogdani.
I think we found our leak.
I need a positive ID and a full workup on her.
Criminal, financials, everything.
Copy that.
Still no hits on Briscu and Kosta? - No.
- [GROANS.]
Are you sure they didn't exit the gym sometime before the explosion? It was overcast, no moon, not a lot of streetlights.
I reviewed footage from all the cross streets, alleys and underpasses.
I have everything our aerial teams picked up on the Besa gym the last few months.
We've covered every inch of the place.
All right, copy that.
Jet, just to confirm, who was the last person that entered the gym before the explosion? Sarge? Look at me.
Look at the light.
Checking security cameras again.
Okay.
Come on.
Get her to the medic.
- No.
- Get her to the medic.
Yes.
Go.
Watch your step.
Kosta and Albi were the last people to enter the gym.
Okay, well I don't think they're here now, and they didn't vanish into thin air, so let's come up with something.
Right now, I'm looking at floor plans, sections, and elevations.
I don't think any subway lines run this way, abandoned or otherwise.
There's a small cubicle space along the east wall.
It looks like a storage area.
Ah, it's a hidden room.
- See anything interesting? - Yeah.
Bunch of old stuff.
Anything else? Yes.
A giant rathole.
With a tunnel.
There is nothing in the plans.
Bootlegger tunnel? That building went up in the 1950s.
There's no records for anything that was there before.
- Any idea where it leads? - No.
All right, well try and find out, 'cause I'm going in.
Alone? That's not a great idea.
Yeah? Why's that? You might lose me as soon as you down there.
And I hate rats.
Yeah, me too.
Well, no wonder I never found their warehouse.
[TENSE MUSIC.]
Jet, we got blood, and it's fresh.
- [STATIC CRACKLING.]
- Jet? - Jet? - [FEEDBACK SQUEALS.]
- What was that? - I didn't hear anything.
Let's go.
Let's go, quick! To the left! we're almost there.
You go.
You go, I'll hold them off.
- Where's Albi? - He's coming.
Come on.
We got to go.
No, no, he'll be here.
He's coming.
- [GUNSHOTS.]
- Come on.
We gotta go now! - Jet.
Jet, where am I? - By the river.
I picked up an ambulance leaving that location moments before you surfaced.
Well, that makes sense.
K-O owns three.
I logged the call numbers of two of them a couple months back.
They use them to run their drugs.
Aviation's out looking for them.
The plates are loaded into LPR.
Wait by the road.
Sergeant Bell is on her way.
What? Hey, you got the plan? You know where we're going, right? Yeah, there's a boat near Dutch Kills.
I can get you right up next to it.
He's gonna take you to a bigger boat - off the coast of Connecticut.
- What? Said I'm taking you to a boat.
He's gonna take you to a bigger boat.
[SIREN WAILING.]
You sure you're okay to drive? If you ask me that one more time And we got an LPR hit on one of their ambulances.
What's the last location? Near the south end of the Bronx River.
We almost there? Where's this boat? - I don't see a boat! - We're almost there.
Any second now.
[SIRENS WAILING.]
Go, go, go! [INDISTINCT SHOUTING.]
Driver is injured.
Gonna need a bus.
Copy that.
Kosta, boat's this way.
Hey! Hey! Drop the weapon! Jon Kosta! Drop the weapon.
Drop the weapon.
You got to be kidding me.
Hands on your head! Get on your knees! Good game.
You really had me fooled, Wagner, or whatever your name is.
Where's Albi? Albi who? [ENGINE TURNS OVER.]
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC.]
Your traffic and weather.
Right now, we're on top of a developing story.
NYPD is issuing an alert for a suspect wanted in a series of gang-related homicides.
Police are on the lookout for this man pictured on screen, known as Albi Briscu.
Who the hell are you? Police say he is armed and dangerous.
He is a known associate of the K-O crime family Should have gone to school, kid.
Help! Help! Help! Help, help! Help! - Help! - Shut up! Please don't kill me.
Please, please.
Please! I swear I won't tell anyone.
Please.
Are you Albanian? [GRUNTS.]
Hey, it's me.
I'm alive.
- Are you in a safe place? - I am here.
I have the cash.
Car is ready.
How long do you think? About an hour.
- You have what we need? - I have the flash drive.
But Kosta, he is not going to make it.
I know.
I saw on the TV.
- What are we going to do? - Don't worry.
I have a plan to get us away.
- Just you and me.
- Albi.
Be careful.
She's giving you the cold shoulder, big time.
Can't blame her, I guess.
Oh, get over yourself, Eddie.
Oh, that's cute.
She still calls you Eddie.
What, did you brag about me to all your policeman friends? I never said a word.
He was fun.
Like a horny altar boy having sex for the first time in his life.
- Except he lasted longer.
- Mm, okay, I'd gladly pay a year's salary to unhear those words.
Oh, I think that's him.
It's not him.
We got a gray Toyota Camry.
License plate XYZ522.
X-ray Yankee Zulu 522.
Approach with extreme caution.
I want you to check the driver ID, and then I want you to check the trunk.
Copy.
[POLICE SIREN CHIRPS.]
[PENSIVE MUSIC.]
[CAR HONKS.]
I have a bad feeling about this.
We got every bridge, tunnel, and port of entry covered.
She knows where he is.
Where's Albi? He said he'd be here.
You know how men are.
They tell you one thing, but it's always a lie.
Well, I think you're lying to me right now.
You lied to me.
All of us.
I understand why you're mad.
I'm not mad.
I'm hurt.
You hurt me.
That was never my intention.
Like when you drugged me? That wasn't your intention? I thought that's what happened.
It's good to know I wasn't crazy.
Did a lot of things I'm not proud of.
All a part of the job, right? To protect and to serve.
Did what I had to do.
Such a fool.
For wanting you.
So what happens to Eddie Wagner now? Do you have a family? Are you married? It's just me.
What a shame.
You know what I think? I think you're going to miss the Albanian life.
All the excitement, the passion, the fun.
I could see you loved it.
Where's Albi? Copy that.
Copy that.
Copy.
Thank you.
Sergeant Bell, we just got a tip from the 117.
There was a break-in on Tulp Avenue.
The victim called 911, said it was Albi Briscu who was the intruder.
He saw him on the news.
He stole an electrician's uniform.
- How 'bout a car? - He took the kid's car.
Kid? And he left him unharmed, huh? Apparently Albi found out he's Albanian.
We take care of our own.
Looks like you found Albi.
There he is.
Albi was outside the motel 30 minutes ago in an electrician's uniform.
But then he walks away.
[TENSE MUSIC.]
- Cuff her.
- Get a bead on the stolen car.
Find out where he's going.
Be on the lookout for any suspicious activity while transporting her.
Don't forget me, okay? Aviation is looking for a late model red compact car, license plate 9461WKD.
Make sure it's watertight.
It has everything I need to start a new life in the Dominican Republic.
Everything we need to start a new life together, right? Sure.
Give me that.
[TENSE MUSIC.]
What's this? It's not important.
She's not coming, is she? Were you planning on taking her with us? Why I just need to know.
She didn't make it, okay? They got her.
Was I your second choice? You're with me now.
What does it matter? I'm leaving everything to be with you.
I better not be your sloppy seconds.
I don't need this right now.
Put that back.
And shut up, please.
[SIGHS.]
Aviation just got a hit on the car.
Looks like Albi is headed to Liberty Marina.
They probably have a boat there.
You're about five blocks out.
You should be able to intercept them.
Hey! You want to live? Get off the boat! [SIRENS WAILING.]
- Albi, cops! - Go! Go! Go, go, go.
- [GUNSHOTS.]
- [INDISTINCT SHOUTING.]
[INDISTINCT CHATTER.]
Go, go! Go! Hey! Get up.
Start the engine.
No, this boat doesn't leave the dock.
Oh, really? Oh, Jesus, Albi.
We got to get out of here, Albi! The engine won't start.
You try.
Okay.
Uh, um - Yeah! - Excuse me.
Please move.
Please.
Excuse me.
- [INDISTINCT.]
- No.
- Ladies - All of you, single file.
Party's over.
- Ah! - Get back! Don't come any closer.
I swear to God I'll kill him.
No, Albi! Hey! Get him out of here.
Everyone out! Albi? How can it be possible? I guess you're not the only one with a secret around here, huh? What can I tell you? You're a pig.
I need you to drop the gun, Albi.
Don't tell me what to do, Eddie.
Albi, drop the gun and let him go.
- Please, you're hurting me.
- Shut up, you little bitch.
Albi, come on.
I know you.
You don't want to hurt him.
Stay back.
You know I'll do it.
I do know you'll do it.
[TENSE MUSIC.]
So let's talk.
What do you want? - I want helicopter.
- You want a helicopter? It's gonna take me a while to get that.
And Flutura! You want Flutura.
Wait.
Does she know? Did you tell her? Did I tell her - Cut the feed.
- You serious? Cut the feed.
Get me Flutura.
- Jet, you hear that? - Flutura, copy.
Back away.
Back away.
- Everyone get away.
- Okay, we're offline.
Did you hear what I just did? Nobody from the outside is listening to us right now.
I want you to know that I made a promise to you.
I never broke that promise.
Nobody knows.
Do you understand what I'm saying to you? Where is Albi? Is he okay? He only wanted to talk to you.
Now, there's two ways that this ends, Ms.
Briscu your husband dead or your husband in police custody.
Albi.
Flutura, you came.
Of course I came [SPEAKS ALBANIAN.]
Who's that? Party guest he took hostage.
[SOFT DRAMATIC MUSIC.]
Where's the helicopter, Eddie? I'm working on it.
Let the boy go, Albi.
I never wanted to live without you.
Please.
Come here.
I need you.
No.
The boy first.
[SPEAKING ALBANIAN.]
Let the boy go.
We'll do it at the same time.
I kept my promise to you.
Run.
Oh.
[SIGHS.]
Albi.
Albi, listen to me.
There was a time you saved my life.
It's my turn.
Let me save yours.
Please.
[SPEAKING ALBANIAN.]
All right, come on.
It's time to go.
Eddie.
See you again, I promise.
[SOFT DRAMATIC MUSIC.]
Don't forget me, okay? Let's converse like this.
[HEAVY BREATHING.]
Hey.
Hey, hey! You're in the family now.
Yeah, Eddie! I got your back.
My loyalty is to you, my man.
- "The Count of Monte Cristo".
- You got it.
- [CRYING.]
- All right, you're safe now.
Officer Monte Cristo.
- [KNOCK AT DOOR.]
- Dad.
Grandma's making breakfast.
Dad? How many times did you get up last night? Just twice.
He's starting to sleep through.
So is Stabler gonna be with you in court today? For the whole Kosta Organization getting arraigned? Hell yeah.
- [PHONE BUZZES.]
- Give me a second.
This is Bell.
Wait, what? [SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC.]
When did this happen? Are you absolutely sure? Okay, go to the meeting, listen, take everything in, and then let's meet at our spot at the end of the day.
All right, good work.
- What was that about? - You know I can't say.
Is everything okay? I hope so.
You know I'll tell you when I can tell you.
- What airport are we going to? - LaGuardia.
LaGuardia? Wh what do we do when we get there? I mean, what what plane are we on? I don't even know where we're being relocated We are traveling with you.
We'll give you the information when we get there documents, addresses, everything you need to know.
You okay? Hey, are we going someplace, like, hot? Like, 'cause she doesn't do well in the heat.
Yeah, I don't think it's very hot.
- [LAUGHS.]
- What, does that mean it's gonna be cold? Are we going to, like, Alaska? Say goodbye to New York for now.
There's been a little change of plans.
Agnes Bogdani, you're under arrest for obstruction of justice.
- Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- Back up.

[PEOPLE SCREAMING.]
[GUNSHOTS.]
Agnes! Besa forever! Agnes! - You okay? - Yeah.
Yeah.
I knew today was gonna be interesting - [CHUCKLES.]
- But I never imagined - it would be Agnes.
- Yeah.
Well, she was the only one who didn't trust me.
Not for a minute.
She tried to tell them, but they wouldn't listen.
See? Believe women.
Well, I guess it's over now.
It's never over.
Please get rid of that beard now.
Come out of hiding.
I kind of liked having hair on my head.
Even if it was on the wrong side.
I'm inside.
I'm made.
Did he use those words? He said I've proven myself through my loyalty, my courage, and my effectiveness, and he was pleased to welcome me into the senior management of the Marcy Corporation with the title of vice president.
- How many - Five.
I'm one of five vice presidents.
The youngest ever to hold that position.
Nova, can you separate what an achievement that feels like from the awareness of what you're really there to do? Yes.
I can do it if you can do it.
[TENSE MUSIC.]
- I'll follow your lead.
- What do you mean? There were two other people in that meeting in Mr.
Webb's office.
One was Hugo, my mentor.
I'm aware.
The other was Mr.
Webb's mentor, Congressman Leon Kilbride.
Is there anything else you want to tell me? Congressman Kilbride, sometimes referred to as Mr.
Taylor by the more junior members of the corporation Felt comfortable enough to mention in the company of senior management that he's cultivating a relationship with an up-and-coming NYPD sergeant Who he believes would have his back if he ever had to ask her for anything.
Can I get 20 bucks of regular? [SOLEMN MUSIC.]
Here you go, hon.
Stay warm.
[CAR HONKS.]
[SIGHS.]

- Hey.
Just wanted to say good night.
Good night.
Talk tomorrow? Sure.
Glad you're home.
Stick your tongue out.
[SCREAMS.]
[PEOPLE SCREAMING.]
[DRAMATIC MUSIC.]
[WOLF HOWLS.]
