Liv and Maddie (2013) s04e15 Episode Script

End-A-Rooney

1 You know, this is nice, all of us hanging out.
Yeah, you know, Ruby, there actually used to be a time where we couldn't all relax together without one of our parents calling a Family meeting! (Gong clangs) Yay! It's my first one! I banged a gong! So I spoke with Dad, and it's official, our house in Wisconsin will be done by the end of summer! What? I'm moving home! But I will be separated from my four kids.
Liv will stay in LA for her show.
Maddie has SCSU and the basketball team.
Joey's going off to college.
And my youngest will be in a biodome, studying life on Mars.
Oh, I'll miss Parker, of course, but we did just rebuild the house he leveled, so a year away isn't such a bad idea.
But I still have the summer in California with my babies.
So, we are gonna make this the Summer of Rooney! (Clangs) Oh We're doin' the Summer of Rooney We're doin' the Summer of Rooney We're doin' the Summer a Rooney (Clangs) (Theme music playing) Better in stereo Bet-bet-better in stereo - I'm up with the sunshine - Let's go - I lace up my high-tops - Oh, no Slam dunk, ready or not Yeah, show me what you got - I'm under the spotlight - Holler I dare you, come on and follow You dance to your own beat I'll sing the melody When you say yea-ah-ah I say no-oh-oh When you say stop All I want to do is go go go You, you, the other half of me, me The half I'll never be-e The half that drives me crazy You, you, the better half of me, me The half I'll always need But we both know We're better in stereo Okay, Aunt Dena, we just got the most incredible news! Oh, your joyful vibration has me tingling with curiosity.
Coach said if we do well at summer training camp, we'll both be in the starting lineup this fall! Oh! - (Doorbell rings) - I swear, if the Summer of Rooney gets any better, I'm gonna punch someone.
Surprise! Diggie, you're here a day early! Yeah Aah! Okay, you're punching people, so I know you're in a good mood.
I'm going to SCSU this fall to pursue my dream of being a sports announcer.
And I get to spend my entire summer with Maddie.
With authority! You should stop doing that voice.
It's really stupid.
Ooh, rejected.
Nah, don't wait for me, Diggie.
I just drove us 2,000 miles while you took selfies of your hair in the wind.
How ya doin'? Dump Truck, what are you doing here? Well, I started my own movin' business.
Dump Truck Truckin'.
My motto is, "I move you.
You pay me.
" Yeah, I moved Diggie out here, which reminds me, I move you, you pay me.
Welcome to Cali, guys.
Have you seen their backyard? There's a trampoline.
- Trampoline.
- Dibs! Dibs! I called Dibs, Dump Truck! A letter came for you.
I think it's about that grant you applied for.
Oh, building tiny houses for the homeless, - it's such a noble cause.
- I got the grant! Oh! I knew it the minute I touched the envelope! Oh, it's this summer, in New Orleans! Oh.
Well, what about your summer plans? Oh.
Yeah.
I mean, you're right.
If I do this, I can't do SCSU training camp.
I can't spend any time with Diggie.
I can't do the Summer of Rooney with Mom.
What are you gonna do? Go or stay? Uh We broke the trampoline.
Parker! Did you hear the news? Uh, that we're gonna be the best-looking couple in the biodome? Couple? Team! I meant team! Uh So, what's the news? We're going to the biodome next week! What? No, it's for the school year.
We're not supposed to go until the end of the summer.
No, that changed because they moved the biodome from LA to the salt flats of Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia.
Salar-salt-de-flutey- what-now? We're being groomed to be astronauts on a future Mars mission.
Read your e-mails, dude! Why does it have to be so soon? And so far away! Bolivia? Are you okay? Never better, baby.
I mean, Val.
I don't know what I mean! Boys are weird.
All right, well, this is it.
My dressing room is all cleared out.
Liv, honey, baby! The Bick is back! Hi! Becky! Oh, Ruby, this is my manager, Becky.
Oh Before you ask, I don't rep kids.
I have news about the Broadway show you auditioned for.
The musical is called "Double Duchess.
" An heir to the throne of England disguises herself as a commoner, flies to Brooklyn, and wins a double Dutch jump rope contest.
So basically, you know, it's exactly like "Hamilton," but, um, with jump ropes.
Liv they want you to be the lead.
- (Gasps) - You're going to Broadway, baby! (Squealing) Oh, wait, wait! Wait! How can I do season two of Sing it Louder and also still have time to do Dubba, Dubba Double Duchess? You're doing Duchess for three months.
You'll be back for season two! This is everything that I have ever wanted.
- When do I leave for New York? - Tomorrow.
- Tomorrow? - Tomorrow? Yes.
Oh, I I am so sorry I made your dreams come true so fast.
Buh-bye from the Bick! Auntie D! (Sighs) I have some big news.
Oh, don't tell me! Let me use these cards to open a window into your future.
Oh.
Well, yippy-skippy, read me, girl! Hmm (Gasps) This card says that Jim Breuer called and wants you to be the opening act on his summer comedy tour.
Wow! You are so powerful.
I'm not.
I heard him on the phone.
But now Joey thinks I'm a wizard.
Aunt Dena is a wizard! Aunt Dena, stand-up is my dream.
But the tour starts next week, so I'll be gone until I start college in the fall.
Which means that my dream will crush Mom's dream of the Summer of Rooney.
Well, maybe your mom will forget about the Summer of Rooney.
(Singsongy) I made Summer of Rooney T-shirts! Or maybe it's all she's living for.
Yeah.
Okay, so how do I tell my mom that I can't do the Summer of Rooney? I mean, on one hand, yeah, touring seems really exciting, but on the other hand, this could be my summer of extreme sand-castling.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
What's with the cameras? Hey, Dump Truck, are you serious? You've never noticed the cameras before? Four years ago, when Liv moved back to Stevens Point, we started shooting a reality series that airs in Luxembourg.
This is our crew, Benoit and Betsy.
You drop this info so casually.
Not since learning that Diggie and Artie was brothers has my mind been so blown.
Yeah.
I mean, the show's called Bits and Pieces, also known as Morceaux et et Pièces.
That's French.
They speak French in Luxembourg.
I learned that.
So, so they what? They interview you? Yeah, yeah.
Pretty much.
I mean, we just talk about, like, what's going on at school, our family, our friends.
Oh, I I don't like that.
I don't like that at all.
I want to know who's been yapping their mouths about my comings and goings.
(Shouting in French) Whoa! Whoa, Dump Truck, you speak French? Bien sur.
We all have our secrets.
Hey, Maddie.
There are little kids picking lemons off your tree outside.
Do you want me to handle them because I will.
Uh No, that's okay, Willow.
But, um, there is something that we need to talk about.
Yeah.
Sure.
What's going on? We got the grant to build tiny houses.
What? No way! - Yeah.
- When do we start? Um this summer.
In New Orleans.
But if you don't go to camp, you're not gonna be a starter next year.
Isn't that your dream? Yeah.
It is.
I just think that helping people is, like, so much bigger than basketball.
You know? And this is something that I could do for the rest of my life.
Dude, I I think this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
Wow.
That's big.
Yeah.
Yeah, so you know, I gotta go do it.
I gotta go to New Orleans and I gotta build tiny houses.
And I'll be back to, you know, support you, from the bench, when you're a starter.
I'm gonna miss you.
Yeah, dude, I'm gonna miss you, too.
I mean, we've done like, everything together since we were 10.
What you're doing is so cool, Maddie.
I'm so proud of you.
Thank you.
I'm so proud of you, Willow.
- And also, I'm not crying.
- No, neither am I.
(Flute playing light melody) (Laughing) It's the Summer of Rooney theme song! Oh, you like it so much you're crying! Oh! Hey, Dump Truck.
Hey.
(Sniffles) Oh, buddy, are you are you crying? Uh, I just watched the episode of Bits and Pieces where Liv shows Todd Stetson what a girl is.
Oh oh, buddy, that is a tough one.
Gets me every time.
Yeah, but, but hey, this show is totally binge worthy, man I'm deep into it.
Parker's already got his man voice now.
I just want to get to the California part before uh, before I gotta get home.
Cool, man.
You're gonna love it.
All right, all right.
He's gonna hate it! If he sees me as Falcon he'll think I stole his persona.
But Falcon was merely "inspired" by Dump Truck.
Inspired? Look at me.
I'm even wearing the same T-shirt as Dump Truck.
It was a dead lift.
Which is fitting because I am dead.
I'm going on tour this summer with Jim Breuer.
I can't do that if I'm dead.
Wait.
Will Dump Truck see this? Stop the camera, Benoit! Benoit! Parker! Parker! What are you doing? Um, hoisting the fridge up the stairs so I can wreak havoc and catastrophe.
Duh! Okay, the last time that you dropped a fridge down the stairs, you were grounded for months.
Do you want to get grounded? Why would anyone want to get grounded? What's going on? I just found out that they moved the biodome from LA to Bolivia.
Wow.
That's really big.
Yeah, but now it's halfway across the world, and it starts next week.
Not months from now.
I'm scared.
I don't think I can do it.
But you've always been so great at science-y stuff.
I'm not worried about that.
I'm worried about being away from my family.
I've never done that before.
Hmm Well, Parker, I mean, I definitely know how you feel.
You know? The first time that I left to come out here, I was really scared to be without you guys.
How'd you do it? Weren't you worried things would change? I mean if there's one thing that I've learned about our family, it's that they will always be here for you.
No matter where you go or how long you're away.
Yeah.
That's true.
You know, sometimes you've gotta feel that fear and decide to do it anyway.
If your dreams aren't scaring you, you are not dreaming big enough.
Thanks, Liv.
Yeah.
Guess now I just have one thing to say.
Can I say it with you just one time? Okay.
- Challenge accepted! - Challenge accepted! Hey, Maddie, check it out.
I got a thumb ring.
This is, this is like, Cali cool, right? Please say it is, 'cause I can't get it off.
Oh! Dang it, it's a part of me now.
Um Hey.
I just got the grant to build tiny houses.
No way! - Yeah.
Yeah.
- That's great! Congratulations! Thank you.
What? It means that I have to leave for New Orleans tomorrow.
Which then means that we can't spend the summer together.
I don't understand.
I know I know.
I mean, I'm so sorry, Diggie, like, I know you came down here to spend the whole summer with me, but I just I really feel like this is something that I have to go do.
No.
I don't understand why that means we can't spend the summer together.
I'll come with you.
Maddie wherever you are, is where I want to be.
I love you, Digbert Smalls.
I love you, too.
Aw.
What a sweet scene.
But full disclosure, I'm a Josh fan.
Yeah.
Team Mosh forever.
There you are.
Falcon! Falcon? I don't I don't I don't know any Falcon! Put it on.
Please, please, don't kill me.
Don't kill me for stealing your essence.
Kill you? Joey, I love Falcon.
Really? You're not mad I ripped you off? (Laughing) Oh, Joey.
Falcon is good.
But you can't do me better than me.
So says Dump Truck.
Au revoir, Bits and Pieces.
You were too beautiful for this world.
Wait, wait, wait.
So this is it? I'm never gonna talk to the camera ever again? Well, who will listen to me now? Wow.
So we're both leaving, tomorrow.
Liv, you are gonna kill it on Broadway.
Thank you.
And Maddie, I am so proud of you for going to New Orleans, I mean, you are gonna change the world.
Uh gross.
A barrel of girl tears.
Let me guess, one of them borrowed a pair of socks without asking, and oh! Sisters by chance! Friends ah ooh, by choice! (Sobbing) Okay! Okay, are you guys done, because we actually do need to tell you something.
Yeah, um so neither of us are gonna be around for the Summer of Rooney.
What? No! You can't do that to Mom! I'm doing that to Mom! I'm going on tour this summer with Jim Breuer.
- (Gasps) - What? Munch, you can't do that to Mom.
I'm doing that to Mom! I'm going to the biodome early.
Wait we're all leaving? You guys We're all going our own separate ways.
I'm gonna miss you guys.
Yeah.
You guys how are we gonna tell Mom that we're all leaving? You're leaving and you didn't tell me? Sorry, but we told her your secrets.
(Clangs) Apologies Love it, but, uh not the right time.
Mom, we're so sorry, we just didn't tell you because we didn't want to hurt your feelings.
Yeah, we also didn't want to, like, ruin the Summer of Rooney.
But I guess we did.
And we're really sorry.
Parker Joey Liv Maddie.
The greatest gift a mother can get is knowing that she raised her kids to be confident enough to pursue their dreams.
Watching you guys become the wonderful people you've become has been so inspiring.
So remember wherever you go, may your dreams always be big and your worries small.
I love you guys.
- I love you, Mom.
- Love you too, Mom.
Okay so we can't have one last Summer of Rooney, but that doesn't mean we can't have one last night of Rooney, right? Oh, hey I love that.
Guys, let's do it.
Bam! What? Okay, let's finish our Night of Rooney with a bonfire secret sesh.
We'll all share something that no one knows.
Okay, who wants to go first? All right, I'll go.
For the past 15 years, I have been moonlighting as a birthday party clown! What? My name is Tangles.
You want to see my silly walk? Others: No.
Um, well, sometimes I hold my own hand and pretend I have a boyfriend.
All right.
My real name isn't Willow it's Winifred.
(Laughing) - Winifred - What are you laughing about, Digbert? Yoga makes me angry.
My middle name is Nah, I'm just kidding.
You're never gonna find out! I watch Parker while he's sleeping.
What? He looks so peaceful.
I can't believe I'm admitting this, but I text with Artie! Okay, what? He gives really great advice.
Okay, well, Liv, you have thoroughly ruined that game.
Um do you want to actually sing something, and then maybe, Diggie, - you can strum along? - Sure.
Okay, yeah.
(Guitar playing) I'm up with the sunshine I lace up my high-tops Slam dunk, ready or not Yeah, show me what you got I'm under the spotlight I dare you, come on and follow You dance to your own beat And I'll sing the melody When you say yea-ah-ah I'll say no-oh-oh When you say stop All I want to do is go go go You, you, the other half of me, me The half I'll never be-e The half that drives me crazy You, you, the better half of me, me The half I'll always ne (Cries) And we all know All: We're better in stereo (Crying) I love you.
And cut!
