Murder in the First (2014) s03e01 Episode Script

Normandy Bitch

1 Okay.
So basically, you're slumming it at the A.
G.
's office.
I never used that word.
No, I did.
Now you don't have to.
[Indistinct conversations.]
So in three years, what? You're running for Congress or something? - Woman: Sir? - Oh, thank you.
Man: I remember the college tour with my parents.
They wanted Top 25.
I wanted Division I sports.
[Chuckles.]
No, I never played.
So Mario's actually taking Michael to go visit Oregon State next week, which is Mm, nice.
Nice.
Corvallis is beautiful.
I, um, I was I was gonna say it's far from home.
Yeah, I don't think he's ready yet.
[Tapping on glass.]
We are here tonight because of Mario.
If it weren't for you, we'd probably be over at The Irish drinking $5 beers and having a much better time.
- [Laughter.]
- What? This is my one chance to give the District Attorney shit to his face.
Anyway, as we all know, Mario's politics tilt a little further right than some of us in the office - [Cellphone vibrates.]
- which is why I know he can handle the isolation of being the only one in his 50s, too.
Happy birthday, Mario.
- We love you, but you are old.
- [Laughter.]
And you are fired.
[Laughs.]
Fun.
Mm.
[Lowered voice.]
I, uh I have to make a phone call.
Excuse me.
[Piano playing light jazz.]
[Indistinct conversations.]
What the hell are you doing here? - Celebrating your birthday.
- [Scoffs.]
Maybe you and my wife can be Facebook friends.
[Chuckles.]
It's not fault.
Greg invited me.
Come on.
Totally your fault.
What does he think he's getting out of the evening? Probably what I'm going to give you.
This is, uh This is not private.
You're right.
[Door creaks opens.]
[Door closes.]
[Muffled dance music playing.]
[Sighs deeply.]
[Inhales deeply.]
[Exhales.]
[Click.]
[Clicks teeth, exhales deeply.]
- [Door squeaks.]
- Come on, baby Come on, baby Come on, baby [Scoffs.]
Ugh! Finally.
[Indistinct conversations.]
If you don't want me to pay attention to what I've read about her, that's fine, Normandy.
But I will tell you what my eyes can see.
Mama, please.
Look, you don't know what she's been through.
I can see that she's very young, and that she needs someone to help her - put together an outfit.
- [Chuckles.]
Ohh.
And you're my mama, and I love you.
Mm-hmm.
But it's my birthday.
I want one night with no drama.
I wanna dance with the love of my life.
Come on, baby Come on, baby Come on, baby Come on, baby Come on, baby Come on, baby [Song ends, microphone thumps.]
[Amplified voice.]
Hi, everybody.
Hello! Man: Yeah, you go, girl! We are so excited you all are here to celebrate the birthday of the best quarterback on the planet [Cheers and applause.]
Woman: Whoo! Who just happens to be my bae.
Guests: Aw! I'm so proud and blessed to have you in my life, Normandy Parker.
Happy birthday to you [Cheering.]
Happy birthday To you Happy birthday Dear Normandy Happy birthday - To - [Two gunshots.]
[All screaming.]
- No! No! - [Man shouts indistinctly.]
No! No! No! Somebody call 9-1-1! No! No, no, no! Someone call 9-1-1! Oh! [Crying.]
Oh! [Cellphone vibrating.]
Hey, what's going on? Yeah, Koto wants us on this shooting downtown.
You got somebody to watch Louise? No.
Louise doesn't need anyone to look after her.
She's 11.
She's smart and honest.
You have to work? Thank God.
Is everything okay? Yeah, I'll talk to you when you get here.
[Cellphone beeps, thuds.]
All right, I don't even know what to do about this.
Don't break it! Are you kidding me right now? It's not mine.
It's Sophie's! I don't care whose it is, Lou! I care that you have it.
A vape? It's a dumb choice.
Okay, so now I'm dumb? No.
You're not, which is why I'm so disappointed.
You can't just go in my bag! [Exhales slowly.]
Mario: Cassie, come on.
Jesus Christ.
I was not ogling anybody.
I was being affable.
- And I - Affable? You're so full of shit.
The the woman gets invited to a relatively intimate dinner party, my party, and and she doesn't know anybody [Scoffs.]
Right.
Right.
Except for Greg Lee, who's basically shitfaced.
Right.
Yeah, right, right.
Yeah, you didn't know her.
Oh, you know what? Come on, Cassie.
Oh, my God.
This is paranoia, Cass.
It's textbook.
[Scoffs.]
You're out of control.
I'm I'm the one that's out of control? So when the two of you left that table for 10 minutes - I was making a call.
- Bullshit! - Oh, come on! - All right, fine.
No, give me the give me the Cassie, come on.
Will you stop it? You changed your passcode.
What is it, Mario? Come on, you got nothing to hide from your wife.
Right, Mario? - What is it? - You need to stop.
- Give me the goddamn passcode.
- No! You need to give me this goddamn passcode, you asshole! Get out of my face! [Woman screams.]
[Thud, tires screeching.]
- Oh! [Panting.]
- [Panting.]
[Gasps.]
Are you okay? Are you okay? - No.
No, no.
No.
- [Mumbling.]
All right.
It's - [Exhales sharply.]
- [Gasps.]
Oh! Oh! No! No! No, no.
No.
No, no, no.
No.
[Panting.]
[Gurgling.]
[Weakly.]
Help me.
[Gasping.]
No.
No! [Grunts.]
[Crying.]
[Indistinct conversations.]
[Siren wailing in distance.]
Man: Gunshots rang out a short while ago Woman: quarterback Normandy Parker was celebrating his 30th birthday.
Uh, hey, guys.
A couple steps to your left, please.
Thank you.
Man: Thank you, sir.
[Indistinct conversations continue.]
- [Tablet chimes.]
- Okay.
As you can see behind me, 4D is crawling with police.
No official word yet, but what I'm hearing supports what was posted on Twitter Normandy Parker is the victim.
I'm gonna try to get inside and see what I can find out, see if I can get eyes on the body, but until then, stay tuned for more details about this SFPD, excuse us.
SFPD.
Excuse us, step aside.
What's up, man? Keep it going.
Woman: Okay, as you can see behind me, 4D is swarming with police - Hey, guys.
- Terry and Hildy: Hey.
So welcome to the circus.
[Sighs.]
I like the circus.
This is more like a perfect storm of crap.
Evening, folks.
Step into my office.
The kid was in the top .
01% of physically gifted human beings on the planet.
Two shots back of the head put an end to that.
It's a shame, huh? Face looks good.
No exit wounds.
Small gun most likely.
That's probably how they got it in the club.
Small .
22, .
380, maybe? Any trace? Not yet.
Parker bought the place out for the night.
Guest list was about 350 people.
90% of them panicked and ran when they heard the shots.
Is that the other 10%? Yeah, staff, Parker's posse/ entourage up there, and a couple my-friend-got-me on-the-list types.
Any of them see the shooter? Not clearly.
A few described a black man in a dark hoodie and gray ballcap, but the lights were out.
What? Like completely? All but the candles on the cake.
And then it was chaos.
All right, so what? Somebody shoots a 3-time all-Pro in front of 350 people, and nobody can make a positive ID? Or nobody wants to? Well, it's pitch-black, though.
Everybody's running for their lives.
Meanwhile, the shooter has a straight shot out of the club.
Probably blended right in.
Guy clearly had a plan.
Yeah, he had a plan.
Couldn't have been easy getting that gun past security.
Do we know the setup? Standard.
Video at the door, the bar, outside restrooms.
The guy in the blue shirt? - Mm-hmm.
- That's the owner.
All right, I'm gonna go see what I can get out of these guests.
- Yeah, okay.
- Koto: Let's go have a talk.
- Hey, Hildy.
- Yeah? How are you? I'm good.
How are you? I'm getting divorced.
Oh, my God.
I'm sorry.
That's that's awful.
Yeah, you've been there, huh? Yeah.
How are your kids doing? Um probably not good.
And I keep telling myself they're fine, they'll get over it, and The resilience of a youthful soul and you know, um Yeah.
Is that how it went for you? Your experience? Yeah.
It just takes time, you know? Yeah, I guess.
Hang in there.
Okay.
Pro athletes come here all the time.
I know how they roll.
We always beef up security.
Everybody gets wanded.
Everybody gets patted down.
We search all bags.
Well, somehow a gun got in here, so But not because I didn't take the proper precautions.
Some asshole didn't do his job.
Any idea which asshole? No.
And I am a lousy detective.
So I am counting on you guys to figure this out.
All right, well, we're gonna need a list of your staff and the last 24 hours of your security footage.
Let me get you that right now.
Excuse me.
Lieutenant? They told me you're in charge.
Yeah.
Who are you? Andrew Lippman, attorney.
My client's been told she can't leave until she's been questioned, which is ridiculous.
She is traumatized and in extreme emotional distress.
She's in no state to answer questions.
Okay.
Who's, uh, who's your client? Alicia Barnes.
She seems to be talking just fine.
She's on the phone with her spiritual advisor.
The love of her life was just assassinated right in front of her.
She's just trying to keep it together until I can get her out of here.
Are you Lieutenant Koto? Yeah.
Let me guess.
You're somebody's lawyer, too.
[Clicks tongue.]
Hi, Bruce.
[Indistinct conversations.]
[Camera shutter clicks, siren wailing.]
We get here, woman's splayed out in the middle of the road.
Guy's got an expired license, refuses the breathalyzer, and won't answer any questions.
Just tells me to call Homicide.
Okay, next time someone refuses the test, you don't listen to anything they say, and you bring them in yourself, okay? The guy's the DA.
Mm-hmm, yeah, and you just got played.
[Camera shutter clicks.]
[Sniffling, crying.]
Mr.
Siletti, step out of the car, please.
[Continues crying.]
[Cassie breathing erratically.]
My wife's having a panic attack, so I-I need to make sure that she gets the proper medical attention before you take me in.
We'll have an officer take care of that.
Let's go.
Excuse me.
Your wife will survive.
That woman didn't.
Now I'm sure you wanna kill as much time as you can before your blood test, but we're gonna do this while the booze is still in your system.
Now let's go.
- Exactly what are you implying? - Hey, you want cuffs? We can do it that way, too.
Molk: Let's go.
Woman: Can you move out of the way, please? Let's do it right here.
We are here live in front of 4D club.
Hey there, hey.
Uh, Ruggiero.
If I can't see the club, I can't see who's coming in and out.
You wanna be my eyes for me? You have to wait for the press conference with everybody else.
Screw that.
[Men arguing indistinctly.]
Man: I'm right here.
You wanna go? [Man shouts indistinctly.]
Hildy: All these lawyers and nobody's talking.
Yeah, well, put them on a list, bring 'em in one by one.
Terry: All right.
We're gonna head back to 850, - look at that security footage.
- All right.
[Police radio chatter.]
Uh, Lieutenant.
Hey.
Serena Parrish, theparrishreport.
com.
[Sighs.]
Yeah, you, uh, you can't be here.
Yeah, no, I-I hear that.
If you could just confirm that Normandy Parker is the victim, give me a couple of details, I'll get out of your hair.
Otherwise, I'm just waiting two hours for the press conference - like everybody else.
- Yeah, okay.
Come on.
Okay, look, I can actually help you.
At least hear my pitch before you just toss me out.
Toss you out? I'm going to arrest you for interfering with a police investigation.
Oh, so you don't have anybody in custody? - I got you.
Come on.
- [Scoffs.]
[Sighs.]
Okay, listen.
L Wait.
How how well do you know professional football, Lieutenant? You know any players personally? Been in the locker room? Had drinks with their agents and wives? Check out my blog.
Nobody's more plugged in to this world than I am, okay? - Yeah, I know who you are, all right? - Great! Then you know how invaluable of a resource I can be.
Okay, this is a world of entitled rich kids who think cops are there to bust them for weed and shoot unarmed black men.
You need someone they can trust.
We can help each other.
We're good.
Thanks.
Now, let's go.
[Indistinct conversations.]
Hey, escort the lady to her vehicle, please? Thank you.
Normandy Parker was a complicated kid, Lieutenant, way more than he put out there.
But I'm sure you'll figure that out eventually.
You got plenty of time.
Hey, listen.
If you ever cross that line again, you will go to jail.
Okay? That's a promise.
[Indistinct conversations.]
[Speaks indistinctly.]
Terry: Hey, shooter's in the wind.
No coffee breaks.
Get to work.
Have your partner come sit next to me while I watch security footage.
- That'll keep me awake.
- Ah, but not focused.
Oh, I'll be focused.
[Chuckles.]
Did you guys see Twitter? What? Let me guess.
They, uh, they solved the case.
# Thewhitebitchdidit.
[Typing.]
All right, check this out.
Alicia: Do you hear me right now? If you ever disrespect me like that again, I will kill you.
I will kill you.
I swear to God, shit will get real, okay? I guess this is supposed to prove she was the shooter, huh? Well, 300,000 tweets say yes.
The department hasn't even confirmed the victim yet.
Ugh.
Louise likes her.
[Chuckles.]
Of course she does.
Honestly, I'm this close to losing my mind with this kid.
Hildy.
What? Two words Hot.
Yoga.
- Don't laugh.
- Stop.
I'm dead serious.
It has changed my world.
- Yeah? In what way? - My skin is clear.
- Your skin? - Excuse me.
- When I wake up Yes? - I'm looking for an Inspector Molk? Uh, he's not here.
Can I help you? I'm supposed to draw blood on a DUI.
He told me to get my ass down here as soon as I could.
Oh, DUI with a fatality, if it's Molk.
He'll be here.
Navarro: Come on.
Holy shit.
[Cellphone vibrating.]
[Inhales sharply.]
[Coughs.]
- Hello? - Hildy, it's Dr.
Hurst calling.
- Hi.
- I got your lab results.
I'd like you to come in as soon as possible so I can discuss them with you.
What do the lab results say? I prefer we didn't talk about this over the phone.
Can you make it to the office within the hour? Sure.
[Distant voice.]
Mom.
Mom? Were you at that football player's murder last night? [Normal voice.]
Alicia Barnes' boyfriend? Yeah.
Did she really kill him? That's what they're saying online.
I don't know.
Is Ashley's mom taking you to school? Ashley has the flu.
You have to take me.
I-I have a meeting.
- What kind of meeting? - Just a meeting, okay? I need you to go brush your teeth, please.
Dad's in town, isn't he? Are you giving him money again? I don't know where your dad is.
I need you to go brush your teeth, though.
We gotta go.
[Bag thuds.]
[Door opens and closes.]
The technical term is invasive lobular carcinoma.
Cancer? Cancer.
.
That has broken through the lobule to invade the breast tissue.
You had said that biopsy was just a precaution, though.
I did, but you don't perform a biopsy unless it's possible that nothing is going to turn out to be something.
And here we are.
So what now? I'm gonna refer you to an oncologist who will recommend a course of treatment.
A mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation at the minimum.
[Voice breaks.]
What else is there? Additional surgeries if the cancer's metastasized.
How old is your daughter? You'll want to get your affairs in order.
Front door detail was doing this most of the night.
The host checks the list, gives them a stamp, sends them to either one of the security guards for some love and affection.
Very thorough.
Just like the owner said.
Then this guy walks in about 45 minutes later.
Fits the description of the shooter.
So he gets his stamp, gives one guy the nod, then the other one.
Here it comes.
Hug it out, brother.
So this guy wasn't even searched at all.
- Was he the only anomaly? - Yep.
It's hard to make out his face, but if this is the shooter, the security guard knows him personally.
And maybe knows why he's there, too.
I'm gonna go check the employee list.
Good work.
[Door opens.]
[Door closes.]
- [Cup thuds.]
- Koto: There you go.
[Sighs.]
Brace yourself.
Oh - That's pretty cruel and unusual.
- Yeah.
So, uh, we're still waiting for somebody to come over from the Attorney General's office.
Sure, yeah.
Can't have my own people doing this.
Are you sure you don't want to call a lawyer or something? No, I can handle the arraignment myself.
Did you get the blood test results back? Mm-hmm.
So? [Sighs.]
.
069.
Under the limit.
[Sighs.]
So you were probably over the limit at the time of the accident.
There's no proof of that.
Well, it'll be argued regardless.
It'll be thrown out, Jim.
It's not evidence.
Okay.
I have the right to refuse a breathalyzer.
Yeah, you do, in exchange for a one-year suspension of your license, which is already expired.
So I-I guess I guess we'll let the DMV figure that one out.
I mean, you do know what the DMV is, right? Christ.
You, too? That woman died right in front of me.
She looked me in the eyes, she asked me to help her, and then she died.
That's with me the rest of my life.
So don't act like I'm getting away with something here.
[Door squeaks.]
[Door closes.]
[Exhales.]
[Indistinct conversations.]
Hey.
Parent-teacher conference, right? How'd it go? Good.
[Telephone ringing in distance.]
All right, good.
Uh, we got some action.
Keefer found video of the, uh, possible shooter slipping through security.
She's running the info on the guard that gave him a pass.
Hey, what you got? Darius Tompkins, 65 Crestwood in Daly City.
He's got a couple of arrests for assault.
Might not come easy.
- Okay, we're gonna need some bodies.
- You'll have 'em.
And I'll keep the call off the scanners so you don't have a national audience.
Cool.
All right.
Hey.
Hildy? You good to go? Yeah.
Let's do it.
SFPD! Open up! - What do you want? - Darius Tompkins.
He in there? He lives here, but he's not here now.
- Where he at? - I don't know.
- What's in there? - Why you care? All right, you know what? I smell gas.
Hey! You can't come in here.
It's my duty to come in here.
Where's your furnace? - Hey! She can't just come in here! - Down here? - No! - Thanks.
Hey! Come back! No one's in there! - Hildy, Hildy! - [Door bangs open.]
Drop it! Hands up! Turn around! Turn around! On your knees! - Hands up.
- On your knees.
[Thud.]
All right, cuff him.
[Handcuffs clink.]
[Breathing heavily.]
Woman: Yeah, put him in here.
Hey.
Woman: Come on.
- What the hell's going on with you? - What? I've never seen you turn your back on procedure like that, ever.
Well, she was lying through her teeth, so He could've had a gun.
You could've been dead.
At least you.
You need to think about what you just did.
Tompkins had a bat.
Shooter's been in the wind for 12 hours now, so at this point, I don't really give a shit.
Let's go.
In the matter at hand, given this is your fourth arrest, bail is set at $50,000.
Defendant is remanded to county jail until the bond is paid or trial, whichever comes first.
[Gavel bangs.]
Man: Docket number 2-6-7-6-5.
The People of the State of California vs.
Mario Siletti.
Steinberg: Take it you've chosen to represent yourself, Mr.
Siletti? - Yes, Your Honor.
- Okay, Mr.
Siletti.
You are charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, a violation of California Penal Code 191.
5(a).
- How do you plead? - Not guilty.
Defendant entered a plea of not guilty.
Does the State have any thoughts on bail? The State asks for $100,000, Your Honor.
Why, exactly? I'm the District Attorney, Your Honor.
You know that I'm not a flight risk.
A woman lost her life last night.
Please, let's not leverage that tragedy into a political statement.
Hmm.
Except you just did.
Defendant is released on his own recognizance.
- Let's please move on.
- [Gavel bangs.]
[Reporters shouting, camera shutters clicking.]
You wanna take first crack? No.
Go ahead.
Try to stick to procedure.
[Sighs deeply.]
Listen Why don't you have a seat, Darius? - But I wanna say - Hey, man.
Sit your ass down.
Okay.
Look, I've been calling family services every week, just like it says on the notice.
Nobody gets on the line.
Family services? [Sighs.]
I had a bad couple of months.
Doesn't mean I don't wanna support my son.
All right.
Who is that? Why? Why? Because it matches the description of Normandy Parker's shooter.
The only cat you didn't bother to search that night.
Now you realize that's conspiracy to commit murder.
- No - Just who is that, man? - No, it's not like that.
- Come on, stop playing.
Just tell me who that is.
Darius.
No? Okay.
Your kid's gonna grow up telling his buddy how his father loves to kick it at Pelican Bay.
[Door opens.]
Billy James.
Damn! [Sighs.]
[Door creaks.]
But there's no way he shot Norm.
No? Why is that? 'Cause they've been boys since way back, like Pop Warner.
Billy handles Norm's security now.
They've been coming to the club for years.
That's why I didn't search him.
Go.
Did you see the shooting yourself? With your own eyes? No.
I just heard the shots.
Then I saw everybody running out.
I knew the police would be coming and didn't want a hassle.
There's no way Billy did this.
No.
Way.
[Door closes.]
Oh, blow it out your ass, Krasnoff.
[Door closes.]
[Box thuds.]
[Briefcase thuds.]
Hey, Michael.
You seen the news? Yeah, my fantasy team is for shit now.
Have you seen the news about me? No, Dad.
Normandy Parker was a once-in-a-lifetime talent, okay? I mean, who cares about you? I'm your I'm your father.
And I'm also the District Attorney.
And something happened that you are gonna hear about.
What did you do? There's gonna be a lot of hyperbole and speculation, - and I just want you to know - Okay, Dad, stop prefacing.
There was an accident.
Your mother and I were driving on the street.
It wasn't well lit.
And a woman crossed in front of us without looking.
Before I had a chance to react the car hit her.
You killed someone? No.
She she died in an accident.
Jesus Christ, Dad.
Michael, listen to me.
Words are important.
People are gonna say that I was drunk or driving recklessly, and it is not true.
But the media, and most of the public even, don't care about the truth.
They want a story that sells, no matter who it hurts.
But the truth will come out.
Eventually.
Until then, I'm gonna take some time off from work.
Have fun.
[Laptop closes.]
[Footsteps retreating.]
[Horn honks.]
[Indistinct conversations.]
[Tires screech.]
Man: What the hell are you doin'?! Wake up, lady! [Panting.]
[Indistinct conversations.]
Terry: Hey.
Hildy? Can you come over? And you've known for how long? Months, you said? It's not exactly how Well, why didn't you tell me, Hildy? What, you didn't think I'd be strong enough to handle it? You've been through this before once.
It's not your problem.
Bullshit.
That's bullshit! You don't go through something like this by yourself.
Well, maybe I just didn't feel like a goddamn lecture, okay? [Sighs.]
The doctor told me to get my affairs in order, so I was scared to say anything.
I'm a single mom.
I don't have any money.
I don't know how much insurance is gonna pay for.
I need to keep working.
Can't have them thinking that I'm sick.
You know we take care of our own.
You know that.
And what about Louise? There's no hat to pass for her.
Because if I die [Whispers.]
Don't talk like that.
She goes to her drunk father.
And then after he craps out in two weeks, then it's my parents.
I remember being her age.
So much in front of me.
So much shit and so much of it bad.
[Voice breaking.]
If I'm not here to help her make the right choices [Crying.]
Jesus Christ.
I really screwed this up.
I don't know how to do this.
It's okay.
It's okay 'cause I do.
[Continues crying.]
It's possible the suspect has crossed state lines, so we are working in conjunction with law enforcement agencies in Nevada and Oregon, as well as the FBI.
Any citizens who do see Mr.
James should act with extreme caution and contact the authorities immediately.
It's safe to assume he's armed and dangerous.
- Question.
- Yeah, Chief.
Has the murder weapon been recovered yet? Not yet.
Chief, have you seen the video with Normandy and Alicia Barnes where she threatens to kill him? We're aware of it, yes.
Are you investigating Alicia as a possible suspect? Chief, about DA Siletti's fatal accident, can you explain why the SFPD waited two and a half hours before testing his blood alcohol level? Mr.
Siletti's case is in the hands of the State Attorney General's office.
You didn't answer my question about Alicia Barnes, Chief.
Man: Chief, does Billy James have any prior convictions? [Reporters shouting.]
Man: SFPD here to make an arrest.
Is there a suspect in custody yet? Do you have a suspect at all? Are you here to question Alicia or arrest her? Hey, I'm-a arrest you unless you get the hell out of my way.
Everybody, get across the street or you're going to jail.
Across the street.
The law says we have a right to be here.
I don't give a shit what you think the law says.
[Reporters shouting at once.]
- Back up.
- [Gate buzzes.]
Back up! [Indistinct conversations, camera shutters clicking.]
Inspectors.
I'm Andy Lippman, Alicia's attorney.
Is your client inside? [Chuckles.]
You know, I gotta say, I'm a little hurt you guys just showed up here without calling first.
Not real polite.
Well, we figured you'd be around, so We did think you'd wear shoes, but Look, Alicia's always been a big supporter of first responders.
She intends to be cooperative, but as I told your lieutenant last night, she's in shock.
Anything she says, it wouldn't be What the hell, Andy?! I said no 5-0! - She said "5-0.
" - Mm-hmm.
They're leaving.
Go back inside.
You shouldn't have even let them in the gate! Go back inside and let me handle this! Hurry up, then! [Sighs.]
You guys seem close.
Did you spend the night? I did you the courtesy of coming out here, but I'm not answering your questions, and neither is she.
You want access to Alicia, you set up a formal interview, or you get a warrant.
Otherwise, you're behind the gates with the rest of 'em.
- [Door opens.]
- Have a nice day.
[Door closes.]
It was just clearly not the typical attorney/client relationship, you know? So you think that's what she's trying to hide? - A guy she's got on the side? - Oh, no.
No, no, this girl's not trying to hide anything.
She's, uh, she just wants everybody to know she's too gangsta to talk to po-po.
Her boyfriend was just murdered in front of her.
I don't think she's really concerned about her image.
Well, she's a celebrity.
I mean, they're all concerned about their images.
I don't think she's a killer, though.
Well, we still need her to talk.
Maybe we just need to use a language she understands.
[Indistinct conversations.]
Serena? Yeah.
Hey, I'm Hildy.
Wow, uh, hi.
Koto didn't tell me to expect a woman.
- Very cool.
- Ah.
Sorry, one second.
Okay.
Wow, so, uh, you must have your own perspective on things.
[Scoffs.]
Doesn't everybody? Yeah, but some are more interesting than others.
So how does this thing work? Do I just basically tell you what we know about the Normandy Parker case, - and then you report it on your blog? - Yeah, yeah, video blog.
Plus a handful of other social media platforms.
- Okay.
- Yeah, your message in my package reaches millions it otherwise wouldn't.
Cool.
Can I can I ask you a question first? Yeah.
You've been on full alert ever since you got here.
You're talking to me, but you're looking around, watching the door, clocking customers.
Even the way you're sitting, ready to move.
You aware of that? I don't know.
I mean, I think it it probably just comes with the job, you know? You're a reporter.
It's not that different.
It's very different.
I'm just a voyeur looking for a story.
You know, you're you're in a constant state of protect and serve.
There are lives at stake.
The energy of that, it's it's next level.
I'm sure there are moments you probably just wanna give it all up for something normal, though, right? Not really.
No.
I love that.
So, uh, what do you got for me? Alicia Barnes.
Breaking news now in the Normandy Parker murder case.
As the manhunt continues for suspected shooter Billy James, police investigators are looking to Parker's girlfriend, pop star Alicia Barnes, for answers.
According to a story first broken Do you have to scour the news every night? I'm a public official, and public opinion matters.
I should know what they're saying.
A strong person of interest.
San Francisco District Attorney Mario Siletti was arraigned on felony charges of gross vehicular manslaughter yesterday, after a car he was driving struck and killed 29-year-old Graciella Ramirez I mean, they just keep saying the same thing over and over.
According to police, Siletti was driving with an expired license and refused Really, I don't know what you're expecting to see.
The Ramirez family has asked the Attorney General's office for assurances that Mr.
Siletti's high profile earns him no preferential treatment, and today, the lead prosecutor on the case responded.
We'll investigate this case thoroughly and prosecute it vigorously, as we do with all cases.
And we will look to the law to guide us.

Siletti will get no preferential treatment.
[Scoffs.]
