Mutant X s03e11 Episode Script

Possibilities

[laughing.]
Come back.
Come on, it's not funny, Shal.
[giggling.]
Is this what you're looking for? Too fast for you, babe.
Yeah, you want to bet? How many girls you got in this thing? Not enough.
[laughs.]
Am I in here? How many stars did I get? None, if you don't give it back.
Had enough? No.
I'm just getting started.
I like the sound of that.
[laughs.]
Oh, yeah? Now, that was too slow.
You are! Play time's over, kids.
Got a tip something big's going down.
We've gotta go to a place called Broder Biochem.
Could you be any more vague? We have to find a woman named Samantha Bennett there.
She has information that could save hundreds of lives.
Ugh! Bad milk.
Well, next time why don't you check the expiration date, Einstein.
Look, we're gonna need a floor plan of Broder Biochem, ASAP.
After you clean that up.
[laughs.]
We should split up.
She could be anywhere in here.
Well, let's keep moving.
We've got to find her before people start dying.
Any luck? She's not down here.
Brennan! Thank God.
I'm Samantha.
How do you know my name? No, we gotta move.
No, I need my team.
No, no.
No time.
Just do what I say.
It's our only hope.
You mind telling me what's going on here? You're going to need this.
What's this? [beeps.]
[door opens.]
Oh! Oh, I'm sorry.
No.
I'm late already.
Oh Okay.
Enough.
What the hell is going on here? No time.
No time? No, you kept us waiting for an hour.
Security was holding me at Loire Industries.
I could only get away a little while ago.
I know where the bomb is.
What bomb? It's being guarded by two powerful mutants.
If we don't take them out fast they'll detonate the bomb and everyone in the building will die.
How can you know that? [sighs.]
Because it's already happened.
That's them! No! Playtime's over, kids.
Just got a tip something big's going down.
We've got to go a place called Broder Biochem.
Scientist Adam Kane was a pioneer of genetic research, manipulating DNA to save human lives.
But, in many, their genes unexpectedly mutated and they developed superhuman abilities.
Together, four of the most powerful fight to protect a world that doesn't even know they exist.
They are Mutant X.
Lookit, you know what? If this is some kind of joke, it's not funny, guys.
We were just at Broder.
Okay, you've got to stop kicking his head.
No.
We met Samantha Bennett.
I think we'd remember that, Brennan.
Hey, don't drink that.
Mmph! Ugh Bad milk.
How did you know that? Because this just happened -- all of it.
We were at Broder.
There was a bomb in the boardroom.
Samantha and I were standing right beside it when it went off.
Okay, now you're starting to scare me.
Okay, you guys, just stay here.
I'll be back.
No.
Forget it.
Brennan, we have a mission.
Yeah, a mission where hundreds of people are going to die.
Samantha was late.
She's said she was being held by security at at Loire Industries.
Look, I'm going to go over there, see if I can get her to tell me what the hell is going on here.
Brennan! Okay, fire up the Helix.
Get us a floor plan of Broder Biochem.
Huh.
Anything else? Yeah.
Clean that up.
You know, Brennan wants us to wait.
Yeah, and he's out of his mind.
We're going to Broder.
Maybe he knows something we don't.
What? And how? I don't know, but don't you think we should give him the benefit of the doubt? I agree with her.
Suit yourselves.
I'll get her the floor plan.
Why don't you see what you can find on Loire Industries? Ah it smells.
Jason Arnold to see Andrew Geddes.
Go ahead.
Excuse me, sir.
I just got a delivery for security.
Leave it with me.
I can take it.
No way, buddy.
All right.
But I'm sorry.
Sorry for what? How about the headache you're going to have when you wake up.
Think I could get a drink of water? Behind you! Samantha, you okay? Brennan, you know me? You remember? Yeah, we were at Broder.
There was an explosion.
Oh, my God.
What? I I'll explain on the way.
We've got to stop that bleeding.
Yeah.
Later.
Loire Industries is owned by a guy named Lawrence Bosch.
Bosch.
Maybe Brennan isn't so crazy.
Why? Who's Bosch? He develops genetically-based drugs.
He's killed hundreds of people in the course of his research.
So I guess blowing up a building wouldn't bug him much, huh? You two need to get here fast.
We haven't been able to get ahold of Brennan.
Look, do what you want, all right? I just hope nobody dies while you're waiting around for him.
We're on our way.
Just about done.
So, you're a mutant with the ability to travel back in time, huh? Only a short distance.
So now you brought me back with you.
It never happened before.
Must be something to do with your mutant molecular structure.
So I'm your first? Yes.
[laughs.]
Ow.
Strange to share this with someone.
I'm usually all alone.
So did we die back there? For a second, yes.
Have you done that before? Yeah.
Wow, that's gotta be tough.
I mean, being by yourself and doing that over and over again.
Maybe you can help me.
It's just so hard to control everything.
There's just too many variables.
I've been trying to stop the bomb from exploding, but I can't seem to do it.
Okay.
Oh, thanks.
Look, why don't you just call the cops? They'll bring the bomb squad in and they'll evacuate the building I tried that.
Everybody dies.
That's why I contacted the Dominion.
And they called my team Well, I think we should bring them in on this.
No, no, no, no, no.
More people will mean more possibilities.
It's that much harder to control.
The more people on our side, the greater our odds.
No, please.
I've been through this dozens of times.
I know what I'm doing.
Okay.
Let's go.
I've checked out all the rooms, and nothing.
What is it? Blood.
Brennan? We're at Broder.
Why aren't you answering? I told you guys to stay away.
You're all going to die.
No, we're going to stop the bomb.
Okay, we have to get to the boardroom before they do.
The bomb! It's gonna blow.
Brennan! Playtime's over, kids.
Uh, let me guess.
The Dominion just called you.
They want you to go to a company called Broder Biochem and meet Samantha Bennett.
Wait a minute -- how could you know that? I just got the call.
Because it's the third time you've told me.
We've been through this already.
What? Wait, where are you going? Going to see Samantha.
At Broder? No.
Bad milk.
Bad milk.
Shalimar, come here.
Brennan, what is going on with you? Listen, just listen.
Lexa's going to want to go to Broder.
If you do, you're all going to die.
Everyone needs to stay here, okay? Lookit, just just give me a little bit of time.
I promise you, you'll understand.
I know this sounds crazy.
But you trust me, right? Of course I do.
Okay.
How you doing? Jason Arnold to see Andrew Geddes, please.
Go ahead.
Think I could get a drink of water.
What took you so long? You know, I've already died twice today.
It kinda slows you down.
Welcome to my world.
Now, come on, I'm going to introduce you to the rest of the team.
Brennan-- Listen, we tried it your way once already.
Now we're going to try it mine.
Do you expect your friends to believe our story? Well, I've been through too much already for them not to believe anything's possible.
That's impossible.
What? You tried to defuse the bomb twice? Yes.
If we were there, how come we don't remember any of it? Because I can only bring Brennan's and my consciousness and memories back.
So none of this has actually happened to the rest of us? How hard can it be to stop the bomb if you know what's going to happen next? You don't know Lawrence Bosch.
He has backups for his backup.
Lawrence Bosch is behind this? Yes.
The people at Broder developed a new genetic technology that will make one of Bosch's most profitable drugs obsolete.
Yeah, and he doesn't mind killing a few hundred people to keep his profit margins safe.
Exactly.
So we stop him.
Now, guys, there are two mutants that are putting the bomb in the room.
One is an elemental, one is a molecular.
First thing we is we stop them, give Jess a chance to disarm the bomb.
Did you get a look at it? Yeah, a quick one.
Is it powerful? It brought down a building.
Trigger mechanism? -Countdown timer.
Did you see the wiring? No -- mostly I just saw it exploding.
Yeah it's not a lot to go on.
I'm gonna see what I can get.
Yeah, I'll go get the floor plans.
So what's your connection to Bosch? He's crossed my path before.
This'll be the last time.
And what's that supposed to mean? It means I have a little list of people I promised myself I wouldn't leave breathing if I ever saw them again.
Isn't that a little grim? It's just my way of making the world a nicer place.
See, Bosch is one of the top ten.
If he is behind this explosion, he'll be there just to enjoy watching people die.
It's the perfect chance to take him down.
This isn't getting a little too personal, is it? It's personal enough.
I was on a mission to shut down one of his research stations in South America.
There were forty dead research subjects found in his lab.
He got away.
He killed a couple of guys on my team doing it.
I'm not letting him get away with that.
Yeah, but, Lexa Don't worry, Jess.
I'd do the same for you.
Hey, you okay? I'm not looking forward to going back to Broder.
Yeah, but it's going to be different this time.
Hmm, that's what I keep telling myself.
It's getting harder to believe.
Uh huh.
Yeah, well, don't worry.
My friends know what they're doing so Sorry I got you into this.
How'd you get into this? I was working for Bosch.
He was testing some very powerful genetically-engineered drugs.
We'd give them to test subjects, then I'd watch the outcome.
And throw my consciousness back in time And then you would give him the results before the experiments took place.
He'd alter the drug and then try again.
He didn't have to worry about the consequences.
But I had to watch it all.
Some of the side effects were terrible.
And I had to see these people suffering hundreds of times.
It was horrible.
Come on.
Why didn't you leave? Because he would've done the same experiments anyway.
At least this way I kept those people from dying.
Whoo, that's a lot to carry.
Then I overheard Bosch planning the bombing.
I've seen so many terrible things already.
I knew I had to stop this one.
Listen.
We will.
Promise me.
The Helix is all fired up Let's go.
Twenty minutes.
That's a new record for you.
[beeps.]
[door opens.]
Oh, sorry! Oh, no.
I'm late already.
Ha! Impressive.
Yeah, the bomb's through here.
[whisper.]
Very impressive.
Okay, we've all gotta go in at once.
Shalimar, are you in position? Ready.
Lexa? Lexa Where is she? Oh, damn, she's probably gone after Bosch.
Why? Um, it's a personal thing, a vendetta.
Okay, why didn't you tell me? Lexa, we need you here.
Okay, look, we gotta go in now.
On three.
One, two, three.
Whoa, whoa, whoa Okay, good news it is it's not armed.
And the bad news? Everything else.
It's got motion detectors and heat sensors all over it.
One wrong breath and this thing will blow.
Okay, and that's just the beginning.
You see all these wires? It's a multiple routed detonator.
It's got to have at least one, two say ten -- ten live connections.
They've all gotta be cut in order to disarm it.
Cut the wrong one and, boom, we're dead.
Can you do it? -I haven't got a clue.
Look, you guys have done everything you can, just get out of here, okay? It's armed! Bosch must have a remote detonator! Brennan That's impossible.
What? You tried to defuse the bomb twice? No.
Three times, okay? We just died.
What are you talking about? The bomb went off.
Why did we come back so much later this time? I'm just feeling so tired.
I Samantha Samantha Jesse, come here.
Let's get her to the lab.
Yeah.
How is she? She's very weak.
Whatever it is she does to throw her consciousness back in time takes a heavy toll on her.
Brennan, she can't keep going like this.
You know, this is all Lexa's fault.
She's turned this whole mission into a personal vendetta.
All she can think about is Bosch.
This is getting a little heady.
You seem to be upset at Lexa about something that hasn't even happened yet.
Oh, no, no -- it happened.
She got us killed.
Look, she's going to want Bosch's name and Samantha's connection to Loire Industries.
You can't give her any of that.
Have you tried telling her the truth? Well, she can't be trusted.
She's a member of the team.
Jess, no.
We can't take that risk.
I think you're making a mistake.
Yeah, well I'll wear that.
Okay? -Okay.
Okay, look, this bomb has motion detectors, has heat sensors everywhere.
It's got multi-routed detonating system, at least ten live connections.
Oh, and it can be remotely detonated.
Since when do you know about bombs? I don't.
You told me.
Right before the bomb exploded.
I'll pull up everything I can on multiple-routed detonators.
I died? Oh, yeah.
I need you to check it out and let me know if you recognize any of the details.
Oh, time's running out.
Brennan, we have to go.
Look, you have to rest.
But the bomb, all those people-- Stop.
We have more information on the bomb.
This time it's going to work.
What's happening to you? It always tires me out.
Only this time it's getting harder.
No matter how hard I try, I can't take us back this far.
Okay.
I don't think this is going to work.
Maybe I should go alone.
Listen, you wouldn't stand a chance.
But if you stay here, you'll be safe.
You could go on with your life.
It'd be like it never happened.
No, listen -- you're not getting rid of me that easy.
Hey, we're going to finish this, together.
Now rest.
Rest I'll be back.
Samantha Bennett works at a company called Loire Industries.
That doesn't ring a bell.
Who runs it? Most of the information's encrypted.
Well, you know what? Jesse can hack into and find out for us.
No, he can't.
We need to concentrate on the bomb.
Yeah, but if we find out who's behind the bomb then maybe we can take them down first.
Lexa, I've been through this three times already.
Yeah, you screwed up every time.
No, you screwed it up.
Excuse me? Look, either you're going to do what I say or you're going to stay here.
It doesn't work that way.
Come on, Brennan, we go in as a team.
Yeah, then why don't you tell her that? Bren, wait up.
Shal, forget it.
I'm not apologizing.
I'm not asking you to.
Look, if you say we need to concentrate on the bomb, I believe you.
But if we're going to stop this we have to go in as a team.
Just want to make sure you're good with that, too.
So what are you trying to say? You're the only one here with any memory of what's happened to us.
We have to trust you.
So what are you saying? That you can't trust me now? I'm saying you have feelings for Samantha, and I'm afraid it might colour the way you colour the shots if we do this thing.
No, no.
I am absolutely clear on what it is that I am doing here.
As far as Samantha, yeah, I do feel for her, but that's because she's she's died twenty times already trying to save these people's lives.
That's it? Pity? You know, what I feel for Samantha, it is not going to cloud my judgement.
Fine.
Shal.
This isn't about Samantha.
Isn't it? I'm not blind.
I mean are you jealous? No.
Why would I be jealous of her? That's ridiculous.
Well, you shouldn't be threatened by Samantha, because whatever it is that I feel for her has nothing to do with you and me.
I didn't realize there was a you and me.
Shal Just try not to get us killed.
I didn't deserve that.
Is this what the bomb looked like? Bren! What? Is this what the bomb looked like? Yeah.
Yeah, that's more wires coming out of the detonator now.
More wires? And I said that it was covered in motion detectors and heat sensors everywhere? Yes.
Huh.
Okay.
Well, I can't touch it.
I can phase through it, but I can't get into the wires without setting it off.
Look, it might take hundreds of tries, but at least I get, you know, multiple attempts with Samantha, right? Oh, no, no, no.
She can't take that.
Look, pull up the floor plan on Broder.
Okay, this is the boardroom right here.
Which means they're probably going to bring the bomb up this bank of elevators.
Elevators? The elevator shaft is reinforced concrete.
Should contain the blast if the bomb goes off.
So we hit them at the elevator.
I like your plan.
Good.
Look, you two take the elevators.
Once you take out the mutants, see if you can defuse the bomb in there.
Right, and if I can defuse the bomb, then, great.
If not, I mass out and try to contain the blast in the elevator shaft.
Hopefully, I survive, and everybody's happy.
Okay, Shalimar and I are going to go with Samantha to the boardroom just in case they get by you at the elevator for some reason.
The only problem is the bomb's already in the boardroom when we get there.
Maybe not, if we hurry.
Maybe your friend can buy us some time.
No, it's too hard on her.
Hey, there are lives at stake here.
Yeah, including hers.
She's not doing it.
Yes, I am.
You know she's right, Brennan.
This what you're lookin' for? Look, in a minute, Lexa's going to come in with a mission.
Tell her I'll meet her at Broder Biochem in a half hour.
Where are you going? Going to meet Samantha at Loire Industries.
Look, we got a plan.
I'll fill you in via comlink on the way.
Oh, and tell Jesse the bomb that he's defusing, okay, it has a multi-routed detonator.
What? Brennan wants us to meet him at Broder in half an hour.
How'd he know about Broder? I don't know.
Said he was meeting Samantha at Loire Industries.
Fill us in on the way.
Not without some information.
Lexa What can you tell me about Loire Industries? Why do you need to know? Well, the contact who warned us about Broder is there.
They may be behind whatever's about to happen.
It's possible.
Lawrence Bosch is certainly capable of anything.
Lawrence Bosch is involved? He controls Loire Industries.
Oh.
Well, this just keeps getting better and better.
As I recall, you have a special interest in Bosch.
He's been troublesome lately.
So you don't mind if I cross him off my list, do you? On the contrary, we'd be quite pleased.
Elevators are at the other end of the building.
We'll take a shortcut.
You all right? Never better.
Don't let her out of your sight, okay? Yeah.
Here we go.
Sorry, wrong room.
Right, Jesse, they're not here yet.
Okay.
Uh, guess we'll just wait.
I got a good feeling about this one.
I'm glad one of us is optimistic.
Well, I never give up.
You're lucky.
Your mutation's made you stronger.
I don't know, with me it's always seemed like more of a curse.
Yeah, why? Maybe it was the way I learned to use it.
Bosch found me young, before I really knew what I could do.
He developed my gift.
I learned through his horrible experiments.
I wanted to go back and make things better, make them perfect.
But they always seemed to get worse.
I guess this is my way of making up for what I did then.
Well, you know you're not responsible for this.
But I feel responsible.
Wish I'd had someone to talk about with before.
I've been alone most of my life.
I couldn't ever share my experiences.
Nobody could understand.
It's good to have you with me.
[elevator beep.]
Ready? Okay.
We got the bomb in the elevator.
We're on our way.
Lexa's gone.
Damn.
She's going to be on the street, trying to take out Bosch.
We need to stop here before she gets us all killed.
Okay? Find her.
Well, you were right, Brennan.
Multi-routed detonator, motion detectors, everything.
Disarming it's going to be killer.
I hope not.
Lexa! Let go! Kill them both.
We have job to do in there and you're not doing your part.
No! I'm doing what I have to do.
Watch out! Shal? Shal Shal Okay.
Now, if this doesn't work, just remember this: I think I can get my hands into all the wires at the same time.
What? Just remember it.
Guys, we have to go back.
No.
I think I can do this.
It doesn't matter.
Shalimar's dead.
You have to take us back now.
But, if if he can disarm it Shalimar just died.
Okay? Hey, you okay? Guys, hold on a sec.
Hold on.
I don't think I can do it anymore.
It's not going to happen again.
We're running out of time.
Lex, Bosch is outside in a limousine.
Every time you've gone after him, and every time someone's gotten killed.
He's part of the mission.
Shalimar just died because of you.
Right now, our mission is the bomb.
All right.
Once that bomb is defused, Bosch is mine.
Okay.
Go to the Helix.
Bosch has detonated the bomb remotely before.
Jam the signal.
Okay.
Now, we know that they're coming up in the elevator.
That's where we're stopping them.
Alright, you said you thought that you could put your hand through all the detonator wires.
Really? Well, good.
What's it mean? Well, theoretically, if you cut all the wires simultaneously we disarm the bomb.
But, I mean, practically speaking, that's impossible -- cutting all the wires But, if I can phase my hand through all the wires, and then mass out, it'll cut the connections.
Think it will really work? It has to.
Okay, I'm starting the jamming sequence now.
It's working.
I got a good feeling about this one.
Hey, now you're stealing my lines.
I really want it to work.
I'm tired of living in the past.
I want us to have some time together in the future.
Don't worry.
We will.
Elevator's coming.
All right.
Make sure she's safe.
Brennan! Jesse, keep going.
No, no, it's okay.
It's okay, I'm going to bring us back again.
I have to.
Jesse's almost there.
You'll die.
So will hundreds of other people if you don't stop it.
We've got to go back.
This is the closest we've been.
We can't take that chance.
Brennan, no.
I'll be fine.
I won't.
Samantha, no! No! Take us back.
I can't.
You have to try.
Listen to me -- try.
Samantha? I've never felt closer to anyone.
No Alright, now for the interesting part.
No.
Agh! We're clear.
There's no guarantees, guys.
We gotta get out of here.
Brennan.
We have to go.
Come on, Brennan.
Go.
Lexa, it's done.
Let's move.
[laughs.]
You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this.
Agh.
! Another one off your list, huh? Gets shorter all the time.
What happens when you're out of bodies? Make a new list.
There's more to life than revenge, Lexa.
Maybe for you.
I wouldn't want to piss you off.
What to play a game? Spot you five.
Maybe some other time.
You know, I just I just keep thinking that maybe there's something else that I could've done.
If I'd thought about it soon enough, then maybe she'd still be alive.
I don't know.
I think sometimes things are just meant to be.
That she was meant to die? Maybe she was meant to save you.
You know, I know this sounds crazy, but I feel like I've known her for years.
Time has nothing to do with it.
Yeah? Well, then why do I wish she'd given us more?
