Nikita s01e14 Episode Script

The Next Seduction

Six years ago, I was taken from prison and forced to become an assassin for a secret unit of the government: Black-ops program called Division that has now gone rogue.
They destroyed my identity and they destroyed the man I loved.
I escaped and now the man that trained me someone I trusted, is hunting me.
What Division doesn't know is that I have a partner on the inside: Alex, one of their brightest stars.
And she's not my only ally.
A CIA analyst, who had begun his own investigation into Division, joined me.
Division's archrival, Gogol, tried to recruit me but I will take down Division my way, on my terms.
And the last word they'll breathe before the end will be my name.
JURGEN Agent Conahan, this is Jurgen.
I'm late, but we shall meet at the location we discussed.
Please wait for me.
Sir, it's Conahan.
The meeting is on.
I'll contact you when I have the package.
Jurgen.
You have the weapon? I'm telling you, sir, it could be connected to Conahan's murder.
I'm having the chatter analyzed now.
If you can just listen to the Yeah.
I understand.
Happy Valentine's Day.
- You toss the old one? - My gift to the Hudson River.
Remember to rotate the hiding place.
Oh, and new protocol.
I call the loft, pretend it's a wrong number you shout me on that.
All right? What's wrong? I just thought it would be easier for us on the outside.
It's never gonna be easy, Alex.
Can't let your guard down.
Gotta live the lie.
- Till the lie becomes your life.
- That's right.
What is that? I hacked a traffic cam in D.
C.
It alerts me when that heart shows up.
It's from Fletcher.
So that's your CIA guy.
Michael's been talking about putting a survey team on him.
Yeah, I figured.
Which is why we have to do this stupid cloak-and-dagger stuff.
He's cute.
Are you two, you know - connecting? - No.
But if we were, it'd be none of your business.
He's fighting Division too.
That is my business.
Oh, yeah? What about you? That neighbor of yours, what's his name? Nathan? You two connecting? You're right.
It is none of your business.
I thought so.
But would it be so bad if we both got to have a life? Alex, you know how I feel about relationships with outsiders.
It's too dangerous.
- Not just for us.
- I know.
Happy Valentine's Day.
Couldn't wait to use the Bat Signal, huh? Thanks for coming.
Remember when you promised to make me a hero? I need you to listen.
Not gonna make me read that, are you? Chris Conahan, one of ours.
Murdered in Berlin three days ago.
Why are you telling me this? Isn't the CIA all over it? I can't get the people upstairs to listen which means I got no one else to turn to.
The irony? This has nothing to do with Division.
But it may have to do with a terrorist attack on U.
S.
Soil.
Why do you think that? Well, part of my fantastic new career has me monitoring Cold War substations in Europe.
I picked up on some chatter.
A phone conversation about a cutting-edge weapon coming into the U.
S.
Callers mentioned a courier for the device, guy by the name of Jurgen.
Conahan told his superiors that he was meeting an asset also named Jurgen.
If you ask me, Jurgen's bringing the weapon into the U.
S.
He's arming the terrorists.
Jurgen, it's an alias, for Emil Voss, German arms dealer, educated at Oxford.
He's probably about 36 by now.
Wait.
You know him? I slept with him.
About two weeks.
As a Division op.
Look, Nikita, if this intel is solid, we're talking about a serious attack and Voss has the weapon.
But I can't ask you to help.
I can't make you go to him.
No one at the CIA knows Voss the way I do.
I can find him.
I can do this my way.
Nikita.
I'll do what I have to.
Got your request to put a survey team on Ryan Fletcher.
- Good.
I've selected the agents.
- Don't bother.
Waste of resources.
I put in a call and got him reassigned.
Probably monitoring Cold War substations as we speak.
He is working with Nikita.
That means we can't underestimate him.
First Owen, now Ryan.
- She always was the ultimate honey trap.
- She remains a threat.
Yes, she does, just as you remain head of the task force designed to stop her.
How's that going for you, by the way? Hey.
- What did you get? - Something kind of cool.
You wanna see? Awesome.
An MP3 player.
- Did your old one break? - I don't have an old one.
Ha, ha.
I don't have any music to put on it either, now that I think about it.
You don't have any CDs? I lost a lot in the move.
Well, lucky for you, you live next to a DJ.
I got a better selection of music than most stores.
Check it out later.
I have a better idea.
Why don't you bring some to dinner? Tonight, here.
All right.
Cool.
But we have to order in because, well, it's me.
That's the delivery guy.
Got a stereo to go with it.
Yo, come on up.
Excuse me? Sorry, I thought you were the delivery guy.
Looking for Alex? - Who is this? - It's Nathan.
I'm her neighbor.
Sounds like Batman.
Hello? Did I call at a bad time? Michael.
No.
Just letting you know the survey team I asked you to join was scrubbed.
I'd tell you to take the day off and relax but it sounds like you're well on your way.
No, we were just hanging out.
I understand.
Goodbye, Alex.
Work.
I thought we were done with these kinds of missions.
Amanda recommended you.
She thinks you're getting too comfortable with your extended cover.
She told you about Daniel? She's concerned.
She's concerned? Are you seeing him? I don't know what else to do.
Why are you sending me on this mission? I didn't order this.
Trust me.
Relationships with outsiders are dangerous, Nikita.
Not just for you.
Do you understand? I need to go over the suppliers lists.
- Whoa, whoa, whoa, don't go.
- I wanna close this deal.
I can't believe General Ungara agreed to the terms, can you? Well, you negotiated beautifully.
You have a gift for deception.
Along with a few others.
Our business is a business of relationships.
So true.
Except there are few that really matter.
I'm hungry.
Can we order a sandwich or something? That can be arranged.
Thank you.
Well, the sandwich is on its way.
I still haven't taken you to my favorite spot the Chalet Margeaux in Quebec.
I love to go there when I have business in the States.
It is so private.
And air as crisp as a late-harvest Riesling.
Can't wait.
Everything all right? Yeah.
I'm done.
We're golden.
- What the hell is this? - We're not here for you, Mr.
Voss.
Josephine Besson? Interpol.
I'm here on behalf of Swiss banking regulators.
Oh, now I'm scared.
What's going on here? You all right? Hey.
You get what you wanted? You will never have to be Josephine again.
You have my word on that.
- Wow! Is there anything I can? - Yeah.
You can get the rest of my bags.
Don't understand why I need to do this personally.
I apologize for the inconvenience.
The room is under your name.
It appears our key system was hit with a computer virus.
Oh, then my timing's perfect.
Josephine.
What a surprise! Ha, ha! - What in the world are you doing here? - I'm Not being in prison.
That's what I'm doing.
Are you here alone? I was just going to ask you the same question.
- You must join me in my room.
- Then my timing is perfect.
- How about now? - Oh, I've missed you, Josephine.
Do you know what they never tell you about prison? Terrible smells.
They never go away, you know? They just sort of move around.
I remember you going on and on about the air up here.
- Well, you didn't just get out? - Last month.
Girl needs a little time to make some spending money.
So you're back in business.
All that time behind bars you'd think you'd wanna pick up exactly where we left off.
Of course.
You know, I never really stopped thinking about you.
Where you were, what you were up to.
- You here on business? - Pleasure.
Wha? I thought we said we were ordering dinner.
You said.
I'm gonna teach you how to make a pizza.
Give a girl a pizza and you feed her for a day.
- Teach her how to cook - And she'll burn down the building.
Now the secret to making a quality pie.
- Buy the dough from a pizzeria.
- Ha, ha.
Michael.
What are you doing here? Oh, I was in the neighborhood.
Is there an emergency? No, I just thought maybe we could go over some numbers.
Won't take very long.
Funny, you used to know how to show a girl a good time.
You wanna know what's funny? Right after you were taken by Interpol my best suppliers started getting arrested.
By American intelligence.
And you believe I had something to do with that? Believe? No.
Wonder, yes.
And now you show up here out of nowhere.
Who do you really work for? You know who I work for, Emil.
But I will admit, I did come here looking for you.
You said you like to hide out here when you were doing business in America.
Well, I'm looking for business.
I can help you with your current operation, you know.
- What makes you think I have one? - Oh, silly me.
You're just here for the mud baths.
I know you're planning an attack.
And I know about the weapon.
And I also know that you are working with Gogol.
- You don't think I saw them pulling up? - Gogol? Since when do you get in bed with Russian mercs? Gogol's here? Get down! - You don't fight like a banker.
- You definitely do.
- You American? CIA? - I'll ask the questions.
How are you pulling off the attack? - There is no attack.
- Get up.
- Why is Ari Tasarov here? - He's trying to stop me.
- From what? - From defecting.
I have Gogol's weapon.
I wanna turn myself into authorities and get immunity.
- You? - I tried three days ago and my contact was killed in Berlin.
- The weapon? - It's a dirty bomb completely undetectable and expressly designed to kill civilians.
- You built it.
- Gogol built it.
They hired me to auction it off.
That's why they killed the agent in Berlin.
Josephine, he was the only American agent that I trusted and I've been trying to find someone else.
And now I have.
This is the part where you lower the gun? Show me the weapon first.
Let us know the next time you have a gig.
Maybe we can make a company outing, write it off as market research.
Thank you.
What type of marketing do you guys do? Alex doesn't talk much about work.
I like to keep my work life at work and not follow me home at night.
Well, our specialty is relationship marketing.
We create memorable personal experiences that keep the customers coming back for more.
Must pay well.
I know rents are crazy in this building.
Oh, yeah.
Company pays for all this.
- Apartment, car, wardrobe.
- I'm a lucky girl.
Well, they are tools of the trade.
Trade? Alex is like a brand ambassador.
Her image is a key component of what we sell and it has to live up to the expectations of our clientele.
And what kind of expectations are we talking about here? You know, the usual.
Attractive, available, always up for a good time.
You see, marketing is always about wish fulfillment.
That's exactly what Alex does.
Makes her clients' every wish come true.
Excuse me.
I need to take this.
This is Michael.
I hate to eat and run, but I have to get back to the office.
Trouble with another ambassador? Nathan, it was a pleasure to meet you.
Alex, I'll see you soon.
I'm not It's not what you think.
Alex, I'm not asking.
Let me help you clean up.
What's the point? The mess will be here tomorrow.
- Is that it? - Yeah.
Wait, wait, wait.
How would you ever get that through security? A reflective polymer that creates an image for the x-ray machine.
They don't see this.
They see pressed shirts and shaving cream.
Get it on the plane, detonate it spread radioactive material across a whole city.
Or you just blow it up in the airport, if you like.
You trust him? Well, I don't have any reason not to.
At least not yet.
All right, we need to get Voss and the package onto U.
S.
Soil.
Now, there's a border checkpoint about 45 minutes south of you but it might take some time to get the seventh floor to sign off.
- What're you gonna tell them about me? - You're an independent contractor.
Nikita, are you sure that you trust Voss? I haven't confirmed who killed our man in Berlin.
Police are sending me video surveillance.
If Voss did the killing, we'll reassess.
But for now, I say we move on this.
Gogol's here, Ryan.
- The Russian military contractors? - The Russian Division.
Let's just say I have a history with them too.
Are you okay? I will be when this is all over.
That's not what I meant.
I just I want you to be careful.
Just one? Describe her.
Like Division.
You fought Nikita.
Wasn't a fair fight.
They won't try the airport.
Although there are four bus depots two rail stations within a 10-kilometer radius.
Our girl knows it would be suicide to travel on a predetermined route.
This leaves travel by car.
More mobility, easier to lateral.
She can hide in plain sight.
But she still needs to go through the border checkpoint and that's where you four will be.
You are going to take our weapon back from her.
And then you are going to bring her to me.
Hopefully we lost Gogol.
Couldn't you have stolen something with heat? Not used to traveling economy? I know you don't like me, but do you still not trust me? What happened to you, Voss? Why the sudden change? I'd love to tell you that I had a near-death experience or that I lost a loved one, but the fact is, there are no loved ones.
There was just a succession of mass murderers and common thugs who relied on me for care and feeding.
For years, I told myself that the world had thrown me in with these vermin.
Seduced by crime, forced into the business.
But I wasn't.
Then you saw the weapon and you turned against them.
I went rogue, to use the parlance of your business.
And that's what my surrender is all about.
I have to erase what I was so I can become whoever I might be.
The question is am I too late? I hope you're not.
Thank you, Josephine.
It's Nikita.
My name's Nikita.
Gogol is here.
Our CIA contacts are pulling in now.
Go.
I'll distract them.
- Emil Voss? - Yes.
I'll take that.
You did it.
I heard from my team.
Voss and the weapon are stateside.
Made it through security without a hitch.
Just make sure the right people take that thing apart and study it.
Already on it.
Hey, I'm getting these screen grabs from Berlin.
I was able to enhance them.
Voss was there but he wasn't the shooter.
I'm sending it to your phone now.
- Are you giving me another assignment? - The shooter is Gogol.
He might be one of the guys you tangled with.
See if you recognize him.
It's coming through now.
Roan.
Ryan, that shooter's not Gogol, he's Division.
- What? - Tell your men to change their route.
You're going to meet them.
You need to personally escort Voss to D.
C.
Trust no one.
- Nikita.
- Emil? - They showed you a good time after all.
- Don't move.
- Ryan? They're all dead.
We got played.
- You certainly did.
- If you think this is over - Now, now, don't be a sore loser.
- Just in time.
- For what? Watch.
Is that why you called, to brag? Actually, it's called gloating, and I earned it after you commandeered my network and gave your little propaganda speech to the proletariat.
I had to make them feel better.
They've been getting their asses kicked.
Not this time.
Know how your boy Fletcher thought he'd stumbled onto some chatter? Well, guess what.
It was all homemade right here in Division sent directly to his desk.
I knew the minute that Voss got away from us in Berlin there was only one agent who would ever be able to track him down.
My old favorite.
- You did call to brag.
- No, called to thank you.
Could never have done it without you, Josephine.
Take a look around.
The shell casings from the Tula cartridges, steel core.
That's Gogol's bullet of choice, isn't it? So Gogol is the evil empire and Division saves the day.
The evidence will be there right down to the charred remains of Voss' ex-girlfriend.
Blow up the car now.
Missed me.
Don't worry.
When I bury you, I won't call to brag first.
So you were watching over Ryan and using him to get to Nikita.
I was gonna tell you.
That's why I called you in.
Don't have to explain.
I understand why you'd want the circle small.
You used your contacts to monitor Ryan.
Yeah.
Speaking of which, take that over and get that weapon back quickly.
- That might be tricky.
- Tricky? It seems like you struck another nerve with Nikita.
You talking about that threat she spouted back there? I promised her that she would never have to be Josephine again and you took her back there.
Her threat is real.
What? Hello? - I need you in Division in an hour.
- Why? They stole a dirty bomb off of two CIA operatives in upstate New York.
They'll try to secure air transport back to headquarters.
I need you to find out what airport that is.
- Alex.
- Yeah, yeah, I'm here.
If Percy gets this, he sells it to the highest bidder.
I don't wanna know who that is.
I need you.
I'm on my way.
I'll text you when I got it.
Ma'am, are you all right? Oh, you do know how to make an entrance.
My men told me that you made it across the border with Voss.
My trip was cut short.
- Where's the weapon? - I should ask you that.
Voss' car was attacked, Tula shell casings everywhere.
- Division.
- Move.
- Where are you going? - Upstairs.
Go through my bags pick out which guns to wear and then get that bomb.
And I swear, if I have to ask you to move again, Ari Oh, don't be that way.
We can help you.
- The enemy of my enemy - Is just another man standing in my way.
Get the car.
All right, this is a high-priority payload.
Get me somebody on the ground.
I need to talk to you.
- I got the grab-team leader on the line.
- Now is not a good time.
Estrin, a jet's waiting at the rendezvous.
It'll take you and the payload back to HQ.
Do you copy? You owe me after what you did.
- We'll signal once we're airborne.
- Excuse me? What I did was my job.
Nathan is my friend.
Was my friend.
I don't get to have a life? Your cover does not just protect you.
It protects him.
It is your responsibility to maintain that distance.
Live the lie until the lie becomes your life.
Sir, ETA for the grab team to Herndon Airport is 20 minutes.
Great.
I know how to hide a secret, Michael.
That's what you taught me, remember? You got off easy, Alex.
And this conversation is over.
Ryan, how far are you from Herndon Airport? - Couple miles, I think.
- That's about 10 miles closer than I am.
- Gogol's following me.
- What? Trust me, we're going to need a diversion.
Stall Division until I get there.
Excuse me.
- You intend to fly this aircraft today? - Yeah.
That's the plan.
Huh.
Because it doesn't look like we got a flight plan on file.
Only IFRs require one.
I'm flying this thing VFR.
Oh, boy.
If that's the case, we got a bigger problem.
I mean, this is upstate New York, buddy.
Weather changes faster here than the Mets lineup, huh? Look, we don't allow any VFR flights out of Herndon.
Got any creative solutions? A pretty simple one, actually.
I'll just bring over the appropriate forms and you can fill out an IFR flight plan in no time.
I mean, otherwise, there's no way the tower's gonna let you take off.
As long as it's quick.
Okay, you wanna just get started on these? The sooner you fill them out Tell the tower I'm cleared for departure.
- Jeez.
- Good job keeping them on the ground.
I'm a black belt in bureaucracy.
Is that Gogol? Yeah.
They're nothing if not predictable.
I need you to do one more thing for me.
Sir, I just got word from the hangar.
Team's under attack.
Estrin, report.
Cover me! We lost the team, sir.
Gogol took them out.
Any sign of Nikita? You must be a fan of world cinema.
Hero positions two gangs against each other and gets them to fight for him.
It was a book first.
Dashiell Hammett, not that I need to take cues from literature when you make it so easy for me.
And yet in the end, you're the one who was fooled.
I think this show is over.
Don't you? As always, my offer still stands.
If you can't beat us, join us.
Think about it.
Fletcher's being promoted, back to the main desk.
Clandestine operations.
He must be very proud.
He'll have more access than ever.
I don't like it.
Just keep your focus on Nikita.
If today taught us anything, it's that she can be beaten.
You should have seen their faces.
It's not every day that an analyst walks onto the seventh floor with a dirty bomb.
- I told you I'd make you a hero.
- Yeah.
Some hero.
I let Percy lead me around by the nose.
Well, now you know how he operates.
Just because you've been bumped upstairs doesn't mean you can trust anyone.
Remember that.
He's taken too many lives already.
What is it? Do you think we can ever erase who we were? - Come back from it? - From what? Things we've done.
Just all of it.
Nikita Do we even deserve to? Yes.
- You didn't follow protocol.
- Sorry.
How did it go? We got the weapon, but somebody paid a price.
Alex, what I told you before about not getting close to anyone? I know.
It's for my own protection.
I was wrong.
I thought relationships with outsiders were dangerous.
They are.
But you can't just live the lie, Alex.
It's not enough.
You have to live too.
Thanks.
I need you to understand something.
What happened at dinner, what my boss said that's not who I am.
I didn't think it was.
What I do for a living it's complicated.
And it really doesn't matter.
But I need you to understand.
I need you to believe me.
Are you in some kind of trouble? It's not like that, Nathan.
Because whatever you need, I'm here.
I can help.
Or I'll find somebody who can.
Look, if you need anything, I'm right across the hall.
All you gotta do is knock.
