Revenge

There's two cars outside already.
There's going to be more any second.
How the hell did they find us? I don't know.
Come out of the house, right now.
Go to the front door slowly with your hands above your head.
Charlie, let's get the money and go out back.
Come on, come on.
Sammie! They're out back, too.
What the hell, Charlie, what happened? How did they find us? Take this.
Charlie, what are you doing? You're still with me right, John? You been with me this whole way.
Let's finish this.
- Finish this! - Charlie Played 01x13 Revenge Originally Aired December 19, 2013 So apparently it wasn't the frog, it was the formaldehyde.
She would not stop barfing.
She couldn't even make it into the hall.
It's not funny, okay.
It was incredibly gross.
It sounds disgusting.
Is there something going on with you and Mom? It's just the last time you took me for coffee you were splitting up.
Hey.
I want to spend some time with my daughter, okay? Answer the question.
Em, it's complicated.
I hate it when you say that.
Just listen to me Dad, it affects me too, okay.
I can't believe that I have to be the one that makes us talk about it.
Look, sometimes things aren't always black and John Walker, you're a hard man to find.
Where the hell have you been? I've been trying to get a hold of you.
Charlie, where'd you come from? I knew you'd be here.
I've been casing this place for a week.
Best coffee in town, that's what you always said, right? So, c'mere, you son of a bitch.
Well Who's this now? Charlie Mulcair.
Emily Walker, nice to meet you.
This is my daughter.
Since when do you have a daughter? Since when did you get out? 'Bout a month ago.
What about you? It's been a bit, right? You got five years, I heard that.
Yeah, Kingston Pen.
He missed my entire childhood.
Hawksworth Collegiate.
That's a really good school.
The best.
Emily we gotta go.
You're going to be late.
Okay.
John, John, John, John Listen I need you to uh call me.
I wanna have a little chat.
- You're going to call me, right? - Yeah.
I'll call you.
It was really good to see you, brother.
I missed you.
See you.
Is he following us? No.
What kind of bad guy is he Armed robbery, no more questions, okay.
And you went undercover with him? What did I just say? I did good right? I didn't break your cover? Emily, listen to me.
It's not a joke, okay.
That man is very violent.
He should scare the hell out of you alright.
My worst nightmare just happened there.
It's not my fault you have that job; okay, so don't take it out on me.
Seriously? Charlie Mulcair? Out of nowhere? Emily was with you? I don't want to talk about it.
I need to put my family in a safe house right away.
I'm already on it.
We've got a place, Jesse's going to take them over.
You want to tell me who this guy is? - Khali.
Yeah, I got photos.
His name is Charlie Mulcair.
He just got out of prison, after 8 years in Millhaven.
His specialty was armored cars.
He was a suspect in eight different heists before we got them.
John got right inside the crew, I played his girlfriend.
It was one of my first gigs.
He's violent.
Here's what he does to the drivers.
These are the guards.
- This is before you got inside? - Yeah.
He didn't go down for these murders? No evidence.
Charlie's smart, and he's careful.
The only way we managed to get him, was John built up trust, and that took eight months.
Who's the kid? That's Charlie's son, Jack.
He was twelve, when he was killed in the take down.
He caught a bullet.
What? Really? Eight months.
Long enough to make a real connection with this guy.
Charlie liked me.
He never saw it coming.
He never found out.
So there was no trial? He pled it out, I never had to testify.
He thinks I did five years at Kingston Pen.
Khali, I'm going to need a backstory.
You can pick any cell block, look at the dates, get the names of any of the prisoners, just in case he asks, okay? You got it.
You think Mulcair's back in business, now that he's out? He said he wanted a "little chat".
Which means he's got a job lined up.
So what about the rest of the crew? The only one who's not in prison is Sam Porter.
we find out what this job is Charlie's planning.
Take it from there.
Khali, I want to take a look at his prison file.
Let's go, we'll take my car.
I still have my notes.
Every conversation we had.
Every lie you told.
Hours and hours of talk, just gotta remember it, keep it all straight.
"What's your favourite movie, favourite band, do you have a coffee shop?" And you mentioned that place to him.
I never would have taken Emily there, not in a million years.
Everyone makes mistakes, John.
Even you.
Is there any chance he found out? That you were a cop? Talked about in prison, maybe? Of course it's a chance; there's always a chance, Rebecca.
Is everything okay? This place is ridiculous, John, I feel like a prisoner.
I have to call the police if we want to leave, they'll send over an escort Vanessa.
You've got every right to be angry, but it's just while I'm on this case.
What were you doing taking Emily to the same place I remember Charlie.
It's the case that sent you right off the rails, I remember it all.
Don't go back there.
Someone else can take on this guy.
I mean it, John.
You should leave it alone.
I gotta go.
I'll call you later.
Yeah, don't.
Now you're going to think I'm crazy.
I broke it down into literally fifteen minute increments.
There were over two hundred and eighty thousand of them.
I just checked them off one by one.
I had this book.
Made me feel like I was accomplishing something.
I just sweated it out.
It was like I was going through hell for five years.
Now all the people, you know, all your friends You go to prison and they just vanish.
But not you, John.
You're still my friend, right? I mean you got my back or what? Of course, I got your back.
I used to have conversations with you in my head.
In prison.
See if I could crack you up.
Did it work? And Jack.
Jack'd always be there, up in my head.
Laughing.
We've seen a lot, me and you.
Yes, we have.
We've been through the wars, my friend.
So how come I don't know about your kid, John? You never mentioned her, not even once.
She must be what, 14? 15? One night stand.
I didn't even know she existed, until she came looking for me five, six years ago.
I only see her a couple times a year.
Anyway.
You got something going on? I know that look.
You're only out of prison a month, and you got something cooking right.
I don't believe it.
Look at this.
The band's back together.
- Daniel? - Yeah, I got him.
It's Sam Porter.
Band of thieves, am I right? Big trouble, look out.
Good to see you, man.
- Where the hell have you been? - Hey, you know.
- Ducking and diving.
- So we should go.
Sam has a little something he wants to pitch us.
Oh yeah, come on.
It's a bank up on Dundas.
Night deposits.
I've been watching this place for a couple weeks.
Every night two-thirty, three AM, always a woman, always alone.
I'm thinking she works at the Dakota's, it's the bar, just down the street.
It's an easier grab, bag's going to be full of cash.
20, 25 grand maybe.
There's going to be cameras everywhere.
So we cover up, no big deal.
It's an easy gig.
You know get our feet wet, get back in the game.
Do you remember the last time we saw each other, Sam? It was at the house, you remember? The day we were arrested? Yeah, of course I remember.
I've been thinking about that day a lot.
Been going over it in my head.
Over and over, for like eight years.
I can account for every second.
You remember that day, John? Yeah, I remember.
The one thing I can't how they found us.
The cops.
How they got to the house.
They followed us, man.
It's bad luck, it's the only explanation I could think of.
I've been thinking about it a lot, too.
Is that what you think, John? Just bad luck? Must've been.
I don't know I don't know.
I just keep wondering that He went to the back of the house.
Do you remember that, John? It's almost like he knew they were coming.
Charlie, you gotta be kidding me, man.
Are you serious? I did two years.
Hey, Charlie, come on man, it was just bad luck.
I'm just messing with you.
You should see your face right now.
Don't do that, man.
Hey, why don't you tell us about your job? They're on their way out.
Jesse, stay on the church.
You got it.
Daniel, Sam's on foot, you're going to follow him.
I'm on it.
What was that about, with Sam? I don't know, maybe he's suspicious.
He's testing us.
I'll tell you one thing though, he's not interested in Sammy's night deposit job, that's for sure.
It's a nothing job.
Vintage Sammy.
But Charlie's leading him on.
Why would he do that? He's up to something.
10-33.
Shots fired! I need an ambulance at King and Jarvis, now! Stay back! I spoke to Homicide, there was four shots.
Sam Porter took three to the chest.
He was DOA at Mount Sinai.
Eyewitnesses? No I mean there was a couple, yeah.
But for the most part it was a drive-by.
Now the security camera across the street caught the marker.
The car was stolen.
- What about the shooter? - No visual, no ID.
There's no way it couldn have been Charlie.
He never left the church.
I'm thinking he paid someone to do the hit.
I sure he met a few guys in jail that would take the job.
Makes sense.
If he thought Sam was the rat So it was payback.
Revenge.
He shot the wrong guy.
Should've been me.
He might not be done, yet.
She's right, John.
You could be next.
I don't think so.
If I thought I was in trouble, I'd walk away.
It's amazing to me that you can say that with a straight face.
Well there you go.
Charlie keeps mentioning his son, Jack.
What's that about? I don't know.
I guess it's on his mind.
Has Charlie been in touch? Maria? They've been texting.
He wants another meeting.
Take Maria.
If you get a bad feeling, I'm pulling the plug.
I'm not fooling around with this guy.
Alright, let's go.
Let's get you dressed.
Hey, so I got a look at Charlie's prison file.
Buddy had a rough go.
First three years were the worst.
Twenty-seven altercations, ended up in hospital four times.
Broken bones, he was stabbed twice.
After three years, he was moved to another prison.
Things got better.
His cellmate was Gary Jenkins.
Doing time for securities fraud.
They spent four years together in a 9 by 12 cell.
Where's Jenkins now? He's out, he's on parole.
See if you can track him down.
Maybe he can tell us what Charlie's thinking.
I can't believe the two of you are still together.
She wanted to see you; That's okay, right? Maria, you do not look a day older, I swear to God.
Unlike you, I gotta say, you're a little worse for wear.
I guess eight years inside will do that to you.
Hey! Why have you not married this woman yet? What is the hold up? I was kinda busy, I was in jail.
You can do better than that.
That's no excuse.
Or maybe you're not the marrying kind.
I wouldn't say that, would I? So I've got a beautiful job for us, it's perfect.
Sam's thing, the deposit? No, this is better.
Where is Sam? John said he'd be here, I wanna say hi.
I called him, he didn't pick up.
Some guy's been chasing him around for money, I didn't ask.
Sam's a mess, he'll show when he shows.
All right.
Let's take a look.
There's a stretch of road down by the freeway.
Every Thursday, at 6pm, there's a particular 5-ton truck that comes down the road on its way to a warehouse in the Portlands.
That's our target.
One driver.
- You're sure, just one driver? - Absolutely.
Two-man job, you and me buddy.
So what's in the truck, Charlie? What's the cargo? I'm not going to tell you.
You'll find out when you need to know.
Oh, if you got a problem with that then you're free to go.
No, no, no, it's your job, your rules.
You'll get paid, don't worry.
What I can tell you is this; this is not the job, this is the set up.
Preparation for the big event.
Everything will be revealed in time.
Ten minutes, if he's on time.
You good to go? Do you have that rumble in your belly? You got that adrenaline, do you got that rush? Yeah man, I feel it.
God, I've missed this feeling.
And we are just getting started.
This is just the beginning, there's a whole lot more.
Like I said, the big event.
It's coming, this is just a set up.
You never took part in the jobs, the planning? I was a total rookie.
It was my job to show up and look pretty.
How close did they get? Charlie and John? Charlie was a single dad.
We used to go over there all the time.
We'd just hang out.
We were his friends.
When I saw him today he's changed.
How? His energy.
He's more intense, more driven.
Like he's got nothing left to lose.
I think about him every day.
Jack.
It's his laugh.
Do you remember that? Do you remember his laugh? Yeah.
Tell me about your daughter.
What's Emily like? Why don't you tell me a story about her? Heads up.
He's early.
Here we go.
Rebecca, you seeing this? Truck is approaching.
OK, this is it.
Stay in position.
Get out of the truck! Get out and don't do anything stupid! Get out! Get down.
Get down.
.
I got this.
I got it.
Here we go.
Wait, wait, wait.
Stay on track, Charlie.
Go get the cargo, I got him.
Get over here! I want you to stay still.
You're going to play dead.
You move, my buddy will kill you! Play dead.
Ammonium Nitrate? You took care of the driver? - Yeah.
- Yeah.
Two more bags.
Let's go! Rebecca, did you get that? Ammonium Nitrate.
That's what they use to make explosives.
Charlie said he had another job, that's probably what it's for.
Let's go! Rebecca, call it off, right now.
Call it off.
Rebecca, what are we doing here? What's the play No arrest.
We're not going to take him down.
Not today.
Ammonium Nitrate.
Four 50-kilo bags.
You think he's making an IED? He told you there was more to come.
- What did he call it? - "The big event.
" So what, he's going to use it to blow open a bank vault? Maybe? Something big.
So I tracked down Charlie's old cellmate.
Gary Jenkins, the financial guy.
He's back in business.
He's got an office up on College.
Good.
Take Jesse with you, bring him in.
If Charlie's planning something, he could have talked about it in prison.
Got it.
Okay, here's what I don't get.
This guy killed someone practically right in front of us.
He robbed a truck at gunpoint, we got on tape.
So what the hell are we waiting for? Why don't we pick this guy up and put him in jail.
- It's not enough.
- What do you mean it's not enough? John, he'll get sixteen years.
Add in the gun charge as a second offense He cops a plea, gets ten and out in four.
Fine then let's pick him up on the heist, we sweat him for Sam's murder.
See who he paid for the hit.
He's not going to give up the murder.
Okay, you guys don't know him like I do.
He's not going to break in that room! John, this doesn't make any sense.
This is too risky! Daniel, he knows my daughter! Okay? All right.
I'm not screwing around here.
I want him in prison for life.
That is it! I took a swing through your personnel file.
Circa eight years ago.
You went into a tailspin after this case.
Started drinking, got into fights at the station, took out a Staff Sergeant.
That was some personal stuff, that's got nothing to do with the file.
You want to try that again? There's something you're not telling me.
I'm worried about my daughter, Rebecca It's more than that.
What happened in that house eight years ago? What sent you off the rails? It's all in that little file.
What I'm about to tell you, I haven't told anyone else.
Not even Maria, she doesn't even know.
Okay.
The whole take down, was a screw up, right from the start.
The Hold Up Squad, they came in way too soon.
Charlie, let's get the money and go out back.
They're out back, too.
What happened? How did they find us? Charlie always had the guns pretty close to him, so there was no way I could disable them.
You're still with me, right John? You've been with me this whole way.
Let's finish this.
Finish this! I was standing right behind him.
I had a gun in my hand.
He was shooting at the cops.
I only had one move.
It was my job.
To kill him.
But I didn't He was your friend.
At least it felt that way.
No, he was the target.
That's what he was.
He was not my friend.
I hesitated.
Two, maybe three seconds.
And then Jack came down the stairs.
What's going on? Jack, get back upstairs! His son Jack! No, no, no! No, no.
Jack! Jack! He needs an ambulance.
Jack! He needs an ambulance! He needs an ambulance! He needs an ambulance! So yeah, it took me a while to get back to normal.
If that's what you're asking.
But that's the job, right? That is what we do.
But now, Rebecca, this guy knows what my daughter looks like.
He's seen Emily.
And now now I can't breathe.
Oaky.
The only way I'm going to rest, is if this guy dies.
He has to die in prison, there are no other options.
Charlie Mulcair.
You spent four years in a cell with this guy.
Is he out? Is that why I'm here? Has he done something? Not yet.
We think he's about to.
You want to know what we talked about.
All those hours, what he told me.
Is that what you want to know? Listen if I tell you, he's coming after me.
You're on parole, Gary.
You don't cooperate, then I'm afraid you're not making it home tonight.
We'll charge you as an accessory.
Whatever he's got planned.
Okay, look he has certain fixations, let's put it that way.
Over here, in the back.
Four years in the same cell.
And I watched him lose his grip, day by day.
He's tormented.
It's the death of his son.
In four years, he never thought of anything else.
I've been busy.
He had this fantasy.
He must have told it to me three, four hundred times.
He had this very careful plan and it's not a heist; If that's what you're thinking.
He's not going to be robbing a bank, or go after an armored car.
He's not after money.
He's after cops.
When they killed his kid.
Charlie wants revenge.
He wants to murder cops.
As many as he can.
You're one of my only friends, John.
We're connected, you and me.
You were there when Jack died.
My son was murdered and no one's been punished.
We need to avenge his death, you and me.
We need to make them pay.
The target area is Nathan Phillips Square; City Hall.
Charlie's building two bombs.
The first one is going to be small.
He's going to place it in advance, in a trash can somewhere.
Its purpose is to create a crime scene.
Charlie has studied tactical response scenarios.
He knows that there will be some kind of command post, where the squad cars will gather, the uniforms, bomb disposal, all kinds of police.
The second bomb is the van.
It's massive.
He'll place it as close to the command post as possible.
Walk away.
And boom.
Okay, so Charlie told you all of this? Why don't we just pick him up on conspiracy? How many cops do you think will show up? Twenty? Thirty? Split the difference, you get twenty-five counts of attempted murder.
Plus the bomb? That makes him a dangerous offender, which puts him back in prison for life.
It's a risk, yeah.
We'll disarm the bomb.
And who exactly is going to do that, Khali? Me.
What if you screw up and it goes off? I won't.
We get him to the square, soon as he puts the plan in action, we take him down.
Are you on board with this? Yes, definitely.
Ammonium Nitrate mixed with diesel fuel and Nitro Methane.
If it's going to explode, it's going to need something to set it off.
A detonator.
Now based on your photo, Charlie's working with something like this.
That's C4.
That's the detonator.
He's using this box as the relay hub.
What you're going to do is remove the real C4; And replace it with fake C4.
Piece of cake.
Your turn.
I wasn't expecting you both.
You didn't tell him I was coming? It's okay.
Don't worry, I'm not going to stay long.
Where's your van, is it outside? I'll be right there.
Charlie, there's something I wanted to give you.
John said I shouldn't; But I thought you might want it.
Khali, it looks completely different.
I'm going to send you a photo, OK? He's changed the layout.
Okay Look at the relay, follow the blue wire.
Looks to me like the C4's under the phone, maybe? - You should be able to lift it out.
- Okay.
I remember that day.
Jack wouldn't stop laughing.
You remember that? This was very kind of you, thank you.
Maria, we have work to do.
No.
Wait, wait, wait.
Charlie, listen.
I want you to know, whatever you're doing, I'm on board for it.
What they did to Jack.
Those cops they're animals.
They deserve to die.
Okay, I've popped the phone out.
The next step is removing the wires, be careful.
If you complete the circuit, the whole thing is going to blow.
Just be gentle.
Taking the wires out.
You know what I remember about this day? It was an anniversary You and John were celebrating something Yeah, we were.
First date? No, no, no, it was first meeting each other.
You both told me the story but I forget.
Where was it? Where we met? It was on the ferry.
On the way to the island, that's right.
Okay, pulling the C4.
- Are you sure? - Yeah.
Okay, I'm good, I got it.
I'm putting the fake stuff in.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Maria.
Putting back in the wires.
John, he's on his way out.
You need to be done right now.
What are you doing, John? Just checking out your handy work here.
What do you think? Scares the hell out of me, that's what I think.
Are we going to do this, or what? Yeah.
Let's do it.
Go! We're good, they're heading for the target.
Maria and Danny are tracking the van.
Let's give them plenty of room.
ETF is standing by? Yeah, they're at the square, they're out of sight.
Let's take it from the top again.
There's two bombs; One going to put in a trash can.
That draws the targets in, right? You okay? It was really nice to see Maria again.
It's amazing, really, that she waited for you, after all these years.
It's impressive, actually.
Yes, she saw me every week.
Hey, where was it you two met again? I know you told me this story, I just forget.
We met at a club on King Street; it was called the Reilly.
He got it wrong, Rebecca.
That's not what Maria said.
He asked her the same thing.
Not the ferry? No no.
Our first date was on the ferry.
It was at the club when we first met.
We always have that argument; She always says it was on the ferry.
We're always fighting all the time about that.
This isn't going to happen, is it? John I mean you're not going to let this happen! Charlie, what are you talking about man? They're changing course, they're turning.
I'm a careful man, John.
I'm a careful man and you know that.
I taken certain precautions.
I've been watching your daughter.
Yeah, that's right, I've been watching your daughter; Hawksworth Collegiate.
She gets picked up everyday after school.
A woman comes to pick her up; Is that her mother John? Is that her mother comes pick her up, takes her home.
I know where she lives, John.
In fact I know she's at home right now and I know she's alone.
What the hell was that? They're going after Emily.
Should we pull him over? You got a wire on you, John? You got people listening? Well, listen to this! You better stay back; Don't follow me! Or I will kill him, do you hear me? We're going to keep our distance.
Khali, call ETF, get them over to the house.
Not too close, you're going to wait for my order.
Copy.
Charlie! Charlie! Daddy.
Maria, Daniel take the back entrance.
Maria.
There is a keypad.
The number is 4-9-5-8-2.
Copy.
See if you can get upstairs; go.
Everything's going to be okay.
I didn't want to see it.
I didn't want it to be you, John.
You betrayed me.
Charlie, let her go.
I wanted it to be Sam who betrayed me.
Charlie.
Leave my daughter out of this.
She's got nothing to do with this.
Oh this has everything to do with her.
No, you want me.
Just let her go.
Don't tell me what to do! Now you stay back, you stay back! Rebecca, we're inside.
He's got Emily; Don't get too close.
Back up, back up.
Back up.
Charlie, you're not going to do this.
This isn't you.
I want you to watch her die.
Right in front of you.
I want you to know what that feels like.
Emily, don't you move.
I love you.
I love you.
Charlie.
Let her go.
- Put the gun down.
- Put it down Charlie.
My goodness, look at all these cops.
Come on Charlie, you don't want her, you want us.
You want a cop.
You stay there.
Stay right where you are.
I'm going to shoot her, I swear to God! Everybody back away! Back away.
Right now! Charlie, you're not going to do this.
You're not going to shoot an innocent child.
Watch me.
Charlie, you were right! Okay.
You are right! Everything I said to you was a lie.
I betrayed you, I sold you out.
I sold you out.
It's my fault that your son is dead.
Charlie, I killed Jack.
I killed Jack.
It's my fault.
It's my fault.
If you want justice, don't shoot my daughter.
Shoot me.
Shoot me.
It's my fault.
I'm the one that killed your son.
Charlie, I'm the guy.
I'm the one you want to shoot! I killed your son! I'm the one that did it! I killed your son! Daddy, Daddy.
It's okay.
10-52 I need an ambulance.
Queen and Berkley.
Multiple GSW's.
I'm trying to be reasonable about this.
I'm telling myself that you have this job.
I know it's dangerous, and there are dangerous people and this kind of thing I'm so sorry, Vee.
I'm so sorry.
I need you to not be around for a while.
Can you manage that? How's Emily? She's okay.
She's tough as nails.
Takes after you, right? I just want to say, you guys were great out there.
You're amazing.
I owe you.
Hey! You need anything, boss? No, I'm good.
See you guys tomorrow.
Have a good one.
See you tomorrow.
Are you okay? I risked my daughter's life.
My family.
The team.
I risked your life.
How do I deal with that? How do you think? You let me help.
