Project: High Council (2023) s01e05 Episode Script
Ashes to Ashes
Ayam.
Wake up, Ayam.
Wake up.
Hey, what's the
matter with you?
Hey! Flying early, huh?
Just like a bee.
Why?
Where's the invitation?
-Just a little.
Hey!
That's too much, you maniac.
Don't start looking for
me when you're tripping.
My goodness.
Looks like lots of you
are playing truant today.
This time I don't think
they're making it up, sir.
This is beyond the
clinic's capability.
They'll have to
head for the hospital.
I will call for the bus.
Look at you.
Look where being greedy got you.
Kahar, call my dad.
I feel
different.
-What are you going to tell him?
"Sorry, daddy. Keem keem
overdosed on honey." Like that?
My dad would bring a machete
and I'd be done
with at the assembly.
Hakeem!
Hakeem, it's not funny you idiot!
Hey!
Hakeem!
Hey, Hakeem!
Are you okay?
Damn it!
Ayam.
-Fakhri.
Here, take your IC and wallet.
How are you doing fine?
Everyone else is suffering.
It's all you!
Downing it like there's
no tomorrow last night.
Okay, the bus is here.
Get up and line up.
Standby your IC.
Is anyone missing?
Mr. Sin.
Help him, sir.
Kahar, you're late.
I'm sorry.
-Okay, just hand in your homework.
Kahar, why is it sticky?
It's honey, teacher.
Honey?
-I'm sorry.
Thank god it's just honey.
Please take your seat.
So, food poisoning?
Yes, a variation of it.
But what's concerning is
the particular strain of toxin
that caused
the poisoning. It's
Grayanotoxin.
Wait, isn't that..
-A psychoactive.
Mr. Sin, there's no
easy way to tell you but
I believe your school is
dealing with a drug problem.
Good day, class.
What happened to the rest?
MC, teacher.
Your arm.
This is just a scratch,
from last night.
Jungle trekking?
Why were you doing
jungle trekking at night?
Bulan Madu Camp.
Why teacher?
Do you want to eat here?
Right? Lost your appetite
just by looking at it, right?
What did the boys
eat this morning?
Mee Goreng Kapur.
Why?
Anything unusual or out of the
ordinary in your recipe today?
Teacher, the queue is long.
Can you get
straight to the point?
Lots of them had
food poisoning today.
The urine test results
have traces of drugs.
It's Grayanotoxin. So, I..
-Come on, teacher.
Just because I look like this,
I get labelled as a drug dealer?
If it really was me who did it,
they would have overdosed already.
Mr. Sin.
-Puan Faniza.
I just want to ask you something.
You are the warden on duty?
Is it true that you had to
take like half of the Form 4s
to the hospital today?
You are right.
About what?
-They're all in Form 4.
Hey, what's the matter
with your teacher?
Easily accusing me
of drugging everyone.
What else did he ask you?
Graya drug or something.
Grayanotoxin.
Grayanotoxin.
What happened to your hand?
What's the matter with you guys?
This has been around
since before my dad's time.
What did you see
that made you do
that to your hand?
Naim.
I used to be
an SBP student too.
So, trust me when I say that
I do understand about
school traditions and stuff.
But there are good traditions,
and there are stupid ones too.
Of course you can
continue the good ones.
But leave the stupid ones behind!
Let it burn and die with us.
Okay.
I'll get going.
Grayanotoxin.
-Psychoactive drug.
At first, I thought they
got it from the dining hall.
But if that is true, how
come only the Form 4s got it?
In the last 24 hours,
what did the Form 4s do
that is so exclusively
applicable to them?
Bulan Madu Camp.
-Yes.
Mr. Sin, Bulan Madu Camp
is Kudrat's tradition.
You do know that the
Alumni Association
won't like it if
it's interrupted.
Drugs, Tuan Yusof.
We are talking about drugs.
Well, what do you want me to do?
You don't have to do anything.
Let me interrogate the Form 4s.
The whole batch.
Alright, if that's what you want.
Thank you.
Mr. Sin.
If you do start the investigation
on Bulan Madu Camp,
you'll also investigate
all of Kudrat's traditions.
Something even I don't dare to do.
When you start stirring
the hornet's nest,
it's best that you be prepared.
Because they'll
be coming en masse.
They'll be eager to sting you.
Where is he Ariz?
Did you text him yet?
I did.
He even replied.
He'll be here in a bit.
What's up?
Who ratted out?
-I don't think anyone ratted out.
Mr. Sin found out by himself.
It's in the urine
of all the students
who's gone
to the hospital.
Why is Mr. Sin suddenly
riled up in this time around?
He never cared
in the first place.
Seriously?
-What?
Don't you think this is serious?
Do you even know what it is?
They're drugs, man.
Drugs!
What's your problem?
Did you forget who I am?
I am still your captain.
Enough!
What's the matter
with the both of you?
If this is what I
have to deal with
I'd be willing to,
for Kudrat's tradition.
Kahar, what are you talking about?
We're all in this together.
If anything happens to you,
we'll all be
responsible for it too.
Enough. You guys
are all over your head.
It's not your responsibility.
And for that,
all Form 4 students
as well as Form 5 who are
involved in this year's camp,
report to the office
after this assembly.
Those who are
still in sick bay,
I will see them
there personally.
Hey, guys!
Can everyone please relax?
Relax? How can we relax?
He asked for the whole batch's
urine. We're definitely exposed!
Why are we the ones being punished?
It's not like we knew
what it was, right?
We just obliviously drank it.
High Council.
High Council is
the devil in disguise.
Okay, what do you want
to do about it then?
Rat out? I was
there too that night.
I saw how everything
went down. Ridiculous.
Truly ridiculous.
But we're Kudrat students.
We're not cowards.
And we can't ever rat.
Agreed?
If everyone agrees,
let's go piss in the cup.
Hurry up!
-Give me a moment. I'm nervous!
What were you guys
doing at Bulan Madu Camp?
Right after arriving,
we immediately set up our camps.
But Ayam somehow managed to
make his tent looks like a coop.
Ayam?
-Don't know why they call me Ayam.
From Form 1,
up until now.
It might stay until university..
-Stop.
Back to the camp.
What did you guys do afterwards?
Congregational prayers,
reading Yasin,
studying the Quran,
memorizing the times table.
At night, we had a barbecue.
After eating?
-We sat around the campfire.
Barzanji, tahajjud, qiamullail,
team building.
After that, jungle trekking.
What's wrong with your hand?
Fell down during trekking.
It was dark. I couldn't see.
Once done with jungle trekking,
we went to our tents to sleep.
Mr. Sin.
It's okay, it's fine.
I just wanted to ask
have you found out
who's responsible?
Really?
That's good, right?
Maybe they weren't
actually doing drugs then.
All the urine samples came
back positive, Puan Faniza.
All of them.
People lie,
science doesn't.
But, what if they're not lying?
Maybe they didn't know
they were taking it.
Maybe their drinks
could have been spiked.
Do you know what
kind of drugs exactly?
Grayanotoxin.
It's found in specific flowers
which are not in Malaysia.
That means, somebody
went out and bought
them deliberately.
I hope I'm wrong.
But, would the nectar
of said flowers
retain the substance?
Theoretically.
Again, I am really
hoping that I'm wrong.
But, Bulan Madu Camp?
Did you drug the
whole Form 4 batch?
Dato' Abu Yamin.
Please have a seat.
I never taught
you to do drugs.
I sent you and your
brothers here to be great!
Your brothers turned
out to be great people.
You're the only one
that seems to be lost.
Still dying to be a Kapla.
Dato'.
Dato' Abu Yamin?
Don't worry, Dato'. I'm still
considerate with Kahar's case.
You don't have to.
Carry on with the investigation.
-But Dato',
this would be a police case.
-Great!
Give him over to them.
What a burden.
Beat him up, Hakeem.
He's making me irritated.
Asleep or awake, he's
always problematic.
His kinds are all temporary.
When their big boss is gone,
they're irrelevant.
Why?
What's the matter with you?
Haven't you heard?
Kahar is exposed.
He's definitely expelled.
Who ratted out?
That's the best part.
Nobody ratted out.
Mr. Sin himself Sherlocked
his way to catch Kahar.
So
do you get what
I'm saying now?
Your High Council Project,
it's working!
So, if Kahar gets expelled,
automatically, you'll enter the
election and you don't
even have to get his blessings.
I don't know what kind
of luck we're getting
but ever since you've arrived,
the long standing, seemingly
eternal system is falling apart.
And definitely our
friendship is not a waste.
Kahar.
Be careful with that.
The warden might see this.
Does it even make any
difference now, Naim?
Naim.
You're all the
hope that's left now.
Keep this.
Use it next year.
Kahar.
-Who else if it's not you?
Hakeem?
He'd die overdosing
in any time.
Next year,
this book will be yours.
There's no one else I can trust
to continue our school traditions.
Why?
You do know what
it has done to all of us?
Including you.
It's not wrong, Naim.
We're..
I'm the one that had accidentally
poured too much into the tea.
You guys are not supposed
to go through all that.
This is all wrong, Kahar.
It's not right.
I feel that you should just
tear out the Bulan Madu
Camp page in the book.
It's not as easy as that, Naim.
This tradition of ours,
there are reasons why it
survived to this day.
Everything that
we've been through.
From Form 1 up till Form 5.
It's what makes us strong.
Everything that's in the
book is what shapes us,
shapes Kudrat!
The book is also the reason why
Kudrat stays great to this day.
That's why we can't
just pick and choose.
This book
is our way of life.
Either we accept
it as a whole.
or leave this place.
Puan Faniza, still here?
Yes.
I love that book by the way.
This book? Really?
I dislike this book.
I wrote a really long
counterargument on it.
It's trying to suggest
that men, and even children
are evil at the core.
-It does.
And I for one
find that liberating.
Good night, Puan Faniza.
Kahar.
I'm really sorry.
This is all my fault.
Just stop it, Hakeem.
This
is all solely my fault.
I'm the Kapla.
I'm the one responsible.
It's not you guys' fault.
That's actually the
reason why I came.
Fakhri.
I think this is all
Fakhri's plan!
It's all on me tonight!
Isn't is too early
to celebrate Ayam?
It's deserving! Kahar and the
previous High Councils
have long tortured this school.
Nobody has dared to challenge them.
But when you came in,
everything falls apart.
It's all you, Fakhri.
It's all you!
The most special madman
that I could never understand.
So, as your cornerman
with calibre
I would like to make a special
announcement for Kudrat tonight.
Bring it on.
Listen up!
Death
to the High Council!
What are we waiting for? Cheers!
-Cheers!
Congratulations, Fakhri.
Congratulations.
I knew it, Fakhri.
I knew that you'd be
the cause of all this.
What are you trying to say?
You want to accuse
me of ratting out?
No, I'm not saying
you ratted out.
But everything seems to
benefit your plan, right?
Your 'Project High Council'.
But you forgot one thing, Fakhri!
As long as I'm in this school
Kudrat is still mine!
Whoever's license I want to revoke,
whoever I choose to boycott,
down to the blessings
from me for the election.
All of that is on my call.
My call.
So?
What are you waiting for?
Right? What are
we still waiting for?
"Papa calling"
Where did you get this?
Borrowed it from the sick bay.
-Borrowed?
Fakhri, are you sure
you want to do this?
Good.
Cause if not, I'd feel
really guilty about it.
But seriously,
I'm actually really excited
to see all the violent actions.
Oh my God!
I can't wait!
Wait.
How did the story of Kasturi's
name change to Jebat go?
It changed because he rebelled.
What do you think
we are actually
doing right now?
High Council blessings session.
House Kasturi.
Three, two, one!
Fakhri!
He found out!
Hey! You can't hit the face.
-What's the matter with you?
I'm cancelling the rule.
Now, quiet!
Fakhri, get up!
Fakhri!
Hey, what are you doing?
My hand hurts, you idiot!
-Then why are you throwing punches?
Tap, Kahar!
Tap! Tap!
You won, Fakhri!
You won!
You won!
You won!
Hey! What are you waiting
for? Announce it!
Announce it!
House Kasturi's High Council
candidate, blessed..
Hey! Kasturi my ass.
It's Jebat!
Jebat! Jebat! Jebat!
What's wrong with you?
Kahar just cancelled the rules.
I just got lectured yesterday.
Saying it's customs, traditions.
We should obey it entirely.
That we can't pick and choose.
But when it gets to him,
he gets to change
it as he likes.
I don't want to hammer
you more on it but..
You've said enough.
Where are you going, Naim?
I'm making my choices.
Naim.
Naim.
Puan Faniza.
What are you doing here at night?
Well actually because I know you're
the warden on duty tonight,
so I came here to talk to you.
Which begs the question, why
aren't you there with the kids
when you're on duty tonight?
I don't see the point.
Seriously?
Even after the
whole honey incident?
Drugs is where I draw the line.
Other than that, the kids will
always do what they might.
Yes, if I am here they
might commit their vices.
If I'm making my rounds, they
might still commit their vices.
The only difference is
they will do it looking
over their shoulders.
Puan Faniza, seeing that we have
been talking a lot more lately,
you will realise that I am quite
against efforts in futility.
I don't know, Mr. Sin.
I don't know.
I just can't stop thinking.
You see, I'm finally pregnant.
And it's going to be a boy.
-Congratulations!
Thank you. But, there's
that thing that you said
about 'Lord of The Flies'
and how you believe in
what it's trying to say.
It got me worried,
about what sort of world
I'm going to be
bringing this boy into.
The whole idea all this time
that these boys were doing
these behind our backs just
doesn't sit well with me.
I've been here four years.
And I hear about Bulan
Madu Camp every year.
But does that mean they've
been doing this every year?
And, if so
why hasn't anyone
reported about it?
And when they're questioned,
why would they lie?
Kudrat is an old school, like me.
And when you become older,
you become set in your ways.
Through your years, you'll develop
habits which are hard to shake.
Even when you know
they're bad for you?
But these are drugs.
Surely one of them
sees how bad this is.
And why hasn't anyone reported it?
Have you ever heard of the
'5 Monkeys Experiment'?
No.
So, a researcher puts
five monkeys in a cage.
Inside the cage,
there is a ladder.
At the top of the ladder
is a bunch of bananas.
So, of course the monkeys
reached for the bananas.
But everytime a monkey
reached for the bananas,
the researcher will spray all
of them with ice-cold water.
That's horrible.
-Not as bad as what's to come.
After a while, they replaced
a monkey with a new one.
Let's call him
Wira.
So, of course Wira goes
straight for the bananas.
But the senior monkeys
don't want to be sprayed.
So, they'd beat him
within an inch from death
so Wira now understands never
to reach for the banana again.
Then, the researchers continue
replacing the monkeys one-by-one
until none of the
original monkeys remained.
But, every time a new monkey
reaches for the bananas
the others will drag and
beat and brutalize him.
Even when none of the current
monkeys in the cage
ever experienced the spraying.
Funny thing about Wira,
even though he never knew the
reasons behind the abuse
Wira was observed
to be the most violent
when executing
the other monkeys.
Because, for better
or for worse
Wira is now the new alpha.
What if one of them
tries to fight back?
Well none of them fought back
because unfortunately for them
they were in a cage.
And God help the ones
who try to fight back.
Wake up, Ayam.
Wake up.
Hey, what's the
matter with you?
Hey! Flying early, huh?
Just like a bee.

Where's the invitation?

Haven't you heard?
Kahar is exposed.
He's definitely expelled.
Who ratted out?
That's the best part.
Nobody ratted out.
Mr. Sin himself Sherlocked
his way to catch Kahar.
So
do you get what
I'm saying now?
Your High Council Project,
it's working!
So, if Kahar gets expelled,
automatically, you'll enter the
election and you don't
even have to get his blessings.
I don't know what kind
of luck we're getting
but ever since you've arrived,
the long standing, seemingly
eternal system is falling apart.
And definitely our
friendship is not a waste.
Kahar.
Be careful with that.
The warden might see this.
Does it even make any
difference now, Naim?
Naim.
You're all the
hope that's left now.
Keep this.
Use it next year.
Kahar.
-Who else if it's not you?
Hakeem?
He'd die overdosing
in any time.
Next year,
this book will be yours.
There's no one else I can trust
to continue our school traditions.
Why?
You do know what
it has done to all of us?
Including you.
It's not wrong, Naim.
We're..
I'm the one that had accidentally
poured too much into the tea.
You guys are not supposed
to go through all that.
This is all wrong, Kahar.
It's not right.
I feel that you should just
tear out the Bulan Madu
Camp page in the book.
It's not as easy as that, Naim.
This tradition of ours,
there are reasons why it
survived to this day.
Everything that
we've been through.
From Form 1 up till Form 5.
It's what makes us strong.
Everything that's in the
book is what shapes us,
shapes Kudrat!
The book is also the reason why
Kudrat stays great to this day.
That's why we can't
just pick and choose.
This book
is our way of life.
Either we accept
it as a whole.
or leave this place.
Puan Faniza, still here?
Yes.
I love that book by the way.
This book? Really?
I dislike this book.
I wrote a really long
counterargument on it.
It's trying to suggest
that men, and even children
are evil at the core.
-It does.
And I for one
find that liberating.
Good night, Puan Faniza.
Kahar.
I'm really sorry.
This is all my fault.
Just stop it, Hakeem.
This
is all solely my fault.
I'm the Kapla.
I'm the one responsible.
It's not you guys' fault.
That's actually the
reason why I came.
Fakhri.
I think this is all
Fakhri's plan!
It's all on me tonight!
Isn't is too early
to celebrate Ayam?
It's deserving! Kahar and the
previous High Councils
have long tortured this school.
Nobody has dared to challenge them.
But when you came in,
everything falls apart.
It's all you, Fakhri.
It's all you!
The most special madman
that I could never understand.
So, as your cornerman
with calibre
I would like to make a special
announcement for Kudrat tonight.
Bring it on.
Listen up!
Death
to the High Council!
What are we waiting for? Cheers!
-Cheers!
Congratulations, Fakhri.
Congratulations.
I knew it, Fakhri.
I knew that you'd be
the cause of all this.
What are you trying to say?
You want to accuse
me of ratting out?
No, I'm not saying
you ratted out.
But everything seems to
benefit your plan, right?
Your 'Project High Council'.
But you forgot one thing, Fakhri!
As long as I'm in this school
Kudrat is still mine!
Whoever's license I want to revoke,
whoever I choose to boycott,
down to the blessings
from me for the election.
All of that is on my call.
My call.
So?
What are you waiting for?
Right? What are
we still waiting for?
"Papa calling"
Where did you get this?
Borrowed it from the sick bay.
-Borrowed?
Fakhri, are you sure
you want to do this?
Good.
Cause if not, I'd feel
really guilty about it.
But seriously,
I'm actually really excited
to see all the violent actions.
Oh my God!
I can't wait!
Wait.
How did the story of Kasturi's
name change to Jebat go?
It changed because he rebelled.
What do you think
we are actually
doing right now?
High Council blessings session.
House Kasturi.
Three, two, one!
Fakhri!
He found out!
Hey! You can't hit the face.
-What's the matter with you?
I'm cancelling the rule.
Now, quiet!
Fakhri, get up!
Fakhri!
Hey, what are you doing?
My hand hurts, you idiot!
-Then why are you throwing punches?
Tap, Kahar!
Tap! Tap!
You won, Fakhri!
You won!
You won!
You won!
Hey! What are you waiting
for? Announce it!
Announce it!
House Kasturi's High Council
candidate, blessed..
Hey! Kasturi my ass.
It's Jebat!
Jebat! Jebat! Jebat!
What's wrong with you?
Kahar just cancelled the rules.
I just got lectured yesterday.
Saying it's customs, traditions.
We should obey it entirely.
That we can't pick and choose.
But when it gets to him,
he gets to change
it as he likes.
I don't want to hammer
you more on it but..
You've said enough.
Where are you going, Naim?
I'm making my choices.
Naim.
Naim.
Puan Faniza.
What are you doing here at night?
Well actually because I know you're
the warden on duty tonight,
so I came here to talk to you.
Which begs the question, why
aren't you there with the kids
when you're on duty tonight?
I don't see the point.
Seriously?
Even after the
whole honey incident?
Drugs is where I draw the line.
Other than that, the kids will
always do what they might.
Yes, if I am here they
might commit their vices.
If I'm making my rounds, they
might still commit their vices.
The only difference is
they will do it looking
over their shoulders.
Puan Faniza, seeing that we have
been talking a lot more lately,
you will realise that I am quite
against efforts in futility.
I don't know, Mr. Sin.
I don't know.
I just can't stop thinking.
You see, I'm finally pregnant.
And it's going to be a boy.
-Congratulations!
Thank you. But, there's
that thing that you said
about 'Lord of The Flies'
and how you believe in
what it's trying to say.
It got me worried,
about what sort of world
I'm going to be
bringing this boy into.
The whole idea all this time
that these boys were doing
these behind our backs just
doesn't sit well with me.
I've been here four years.
And I hear about Bulan
Madu Camp every year.
But does that mean they've
been doing this every year?
And, if so
why hasn't anyone
reported about it?
And when they're questioned,
why would they lie?
Kudrat is an old school, like me.
And when you become older,
you become set in your ways.
Through your years, you'll develop
habits which are hard to shake.
Even when you know
they're bad for you?
But these are drugs.
Surely one of them
sees how bad this is.
And why hasn't anyone reported it?
Have you ever heard of the
'5 Monkeys Experiment'?
No.
So, a researcher puts
five monkeys in a cage.
Inside the cage,
there is a ladder.
At the top of the ladder
is a bunch of bananas.
So, of course the monkeys
reached for the bananas.
But everytime a monkey
reached for the bananas,
the researcher will spray all
of them with ice-cold water.
That's horrible.
-Not as bad as what's to come.
After a while, they replaced
a monkey with a new one.
Let's call him
Wira.
So, of course Wira goes
straight for the bananas.
But the senior monkeys
don't want to be sprayed.
So, they'd beat him
within an inch from death
so Wira now understands never
to reach for the banana again.
Then, the researchers continue
replacing the monkeys one-by-one
until none of the
original monkeys remained.
But, every time a new monkey
reaches for the bananas
the others will drag and
beat and brutalize him.
Even when none of the current
monkeys in the cage
ever experienced the spraying.
Funny thing about Wira,
even though he never knew the
reasons behind the abuse
Wira was observed
to be the most violent
when executing
the other monkeys.
Because, for better
or for worse
Wira is now the new alpha.
What if one of them
tries to fight back?
Well none of them fought back
because unfortunately for them
they were in a cage.
And God help the ones
who try to fight back.
