Small Town Setup (2025) s01e01 Episode Script
Exiting the Friend Zone
[studio music]
[fun music]
Ooh.
Don't drive into the lake.
Here I go.
Haaa.
I'm not bad at this.
[horn honking]
Ha ha.
I'm in a golf cart
in Peachtree City.
[uplifting music]
This town loves
their golf carts.
What would you do
if you were single,
you were living in New
York, and your family
and your entire hometown decided
to get together and set you up
on some dates when you just
thought you were coming
home to visit for the weekend?
Victoria is about to find out.
[joyous music]
I'm Ashley Williams, and
this is Small Town Setup.
[horn honking]
[fun music]
I'm here to help Joe
and Dianne find love
for their daughter, Victoria.
She's a senior-level executive
who left home to pursue
her dreams in New York.
She's got this tendency to
put guys into the friend zone.
Do you think her parents
can help her with that?
Let's find her love.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
We're about to dive
into an adventure filled with
heart, hope, and a big dose
of small-town charm.
The Garofalo family has
gotten everybody together,
and we're hoping that we're
gonna find somebody today.
Let's hit it.
Is there snacks there?
Woo!
Is there like a
charcuterie board?
How do you say that?
[title music]
[fun music]
Hey.
Welcome to Scoops.
Are you Joe?
JOE: I am Joe.
Are you Dianne?
DIANNE: Hi, Ashley.
We've been expecting you.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: I'm Ashley.
I am so excited to meet you.
I brought you a little gift
since we're in Peachtree.
So this is a peach
cobbler recipe, so--
DIANNE: Thank you.
Hi, I'm Dianne.
And I'm Joe.
And we're the Garofalos.
And we're hoping to help our
oldest daughter, Victoria,
find love and happiness.
I am so excited to talk
to you about Victoria.
JOE: Ah, Victoria.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Let's go and
have a seat together and chat.
Yeah, let's go outside.
We're waiting for Mr.
Right to meet Mrs. Right,
to make it all right.
Because if you can't
stand us, forget about it.
Who can't stand us?
Come on.
[laughs]
It's a beautiful
day, and I feel so
lucky to get to chat with you.
By the way, I got really good
at driving a golf cart earlier.
I think I would fit right in.
You have the golf
cart community here.
JOE: 12 years old.
You're 12 years old, you
can drive with a parent.
OK, so I haven't
met Victoria yet.
Can you tell me a
little bit about her?
Well, she's our first-born,
and she's amazing.
Yeah.
She does event planning in
food and wine, and she's a very
productive, happy go-getter.
[fun music]
Victoria is used to being strong
because it's her business.
She's been in
authoritative positions,
and she has two younger sisters.
But she's got such a soft side.
She is very emotional, but
she doesn't always show it.
And she has tons of guy friends.
They all love her.
She puts them right
in the friend zone.
JOE: Victoria is like an alpha
woman who's there for everyone
else, but it's time for her.
Basically, I told
her, if you actually
want to get married and have
those kids you talk about,
time to date.
JOE: It's time to take
down the no vacancy sign.
[laughs] So good.
JOE: You got to have
the vacancy sign on.
OK, tell me--
I mean, you two are obviously
still very much in love.
Married, what, 35 years?
38 years.
38 years, whatever.
But we met the regular way.
How did you meet?
We were at a club,
and he kept doing, like.
I don't know what he
was doing with his head.
He was trying to say something.
I said, look, I'm not
much into sign language,
but would you like to dance?
Whatever.
But he was wearing plastic
shoes, zippered shirt-- he was--
What do you mean, you
were wearing plastic shoes?
DIANNE: It was terrible.
He had blue eyes,
and he was tall.
I said, I'm only dancing
with him, anyway.
JOE: She saw the
potential, though.
Oh, and she was right.
[laughs]
What do you
think she's looking
for right now in a partner?
Like, if you're talking about
a star, loves Ryan Gosling.
We even like Idris
Elba together.
So I'm just saying,
a tall guy who's--
JOE: Comfortable
in his own skin.
DIANNE:--comfortable
in his own skin.
Tall is important.
She likes to go out,
but she's not clubbing.
But she loves to go out
with family and friends,
and we are horse-racing people.
She enjoys dancing,
Broadway shows.
Ideally, it'd be
somebody that loves food.
They have to love tomatoes and--
[laughs]
JOE: Tomatoes.
DIANNE: No joke.
That was her last--
JOE: She sent a picture
the other day with nine
different tomatoes in one bowl.
So he needs to be a
fan of tomatoes would
be one of the main criteria.
JOE: Yes, yes, which
can be made into sauce
because we're Italian.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Sure.
So why do you think she would
find a potential partner
here as opposed to New York?
There's a certain
familiarity about your hometown
that never goes away.
So I know Victoria had some
great experiences here.
Wow.
OK, so the bar is high.
We have quite a
task ahead of us.
[laughs]
- We do.
We really do.
We're gonna kind of
hold a forum, where we
work together as a community.
And we're gonna see
if love for Victoria
is right here in Peachtree City.
JOE: It takes a
village to find a man.
I mean, it's exciting.
But Mr. Right, he's out
there, within 10 miles of here.
I think it's possible.
[fun music]
This is beautiful.
JOE: What do you think?
Not a bad place, right?
[gasps] You've
been working hard.
(SINGING) It's
easy for you to say
JOE: She didn't see it.
- Welcome, guys.
Hi.
JOE: Hey.
Glad you could come.
Are you related
to these people?
This is my beautiful daughter.
Stop it.
This is fiance number one.
Nice to meet you.
Thank you.
Nice to meet you.
Are you related to the family?
I'm a family friend.
JOE: You know, it's amazing
to get so many people to show
up on a Thursday, a hot day.
People even work early.
But I think it
speaks to the town.
And it speaks to Victoria.
They'll willing to
do this for her.
Yeah, it's all
relationships, and I
think people love Victoria.
OK, welcome, Peachtree City.
[cheering]
Are we ready to find
love for Victoria?
[cheering]
I need you, Joe and
Dianne, to take it away.
Thank you for showing up.
We're looking for
a good-looking guy,
30 to 40, confident,
heart-centered,
successful, likes games,
likes loud Italians.
[laughter]
DIANNE: Victoria's got a lot
of guy friends, tons of them,
but they're all in
the friend zone.
We want her to find romance,
not another male friend
to bring to the table,
'cause they eat a lot.
[laughter]
Let's find her love.
[cheering]
So I'm opening up the floor.
Who here has an
idea for Victoria?
[gasps] Wait a second.
All right, is this
the best friend?
My name is Megan.
OK, stand up.
Please tell us who you have.
All right, so I nominate Sosa.
He is 6' 4", good-looking.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
MEGAN: He's a chef, knows
how to work the kitchen,
which I know Victoria loves.
JOE: We're looking for something
in the bedroom eventually.
Oh my goodness.
[laughter]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK, OK.
This is Hallmark.
JOE: Hey, come on.
Can't have kids if they're
always in the kitchen.
Joe.
[laughs]
[applause]
All right.
Hi, there.
What's your name?
- Hi.
I'm Dana.
I would like to nominate
someone we lovingly
refer to as Cousin Michael.
[quirky music]
Is he Victoria's cousin?
- No, thank goodness.
- Great.
Great.
Great.
He's actually my
husband's cousin.
Oh, OK.
And I think Michael has the
biggest heart I've ever known.
He loves to do everything--
hiking and kayaking.
He also got his pilot's
license just kind of for fun
because he loved Aeronautics.
Wow.
He loves kids.
[applause]
- Good with kids.
- We love it.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: We did have
a little nibble over here.
Come over here, sir.
What's your name?
Zac.
Hi, Zac.
Welcome.
Who do you have for Victoria?
One of my buddies, Keren.
He works in a similar
field to Victoria,
so they have a lot
of similarities.
He's a little more on
the shy side, though.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Do
you think he would
be able to hang with the
big personalities and the
strong dynamic in this family?
Well, Victoria's
got enough personality
for both of 'em, but--
[laughter]
- he Would definitely
be able to hold his own.
Yeah.
- OK.
Good.
[applause]
Thanks.
Great.
Thank you so much.
OK.
DIANNE: Oh, Nick's got one.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: We've
got somebody right here.
Whoa.
Victory.
I'm her cousin, so
I feel like I should
be the expert on this one.
So my buddy, Tristen, probably
the best guy out of all.
No offense to the
guys you nominated.
[laughter]
He's an animal care specialist--
Oh.
- wizard In the kitchen,
and perfect height for her.
I think they're
gonna hit it off.
Does he want kids?
He wants eight kids.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Eight?
Oh, that might
actually be a problem.
[laughter]
Thank you so much.
NICK: No problem.
[applause]
Well, everybody, I feel
really good about these options.
I think the next step
is they need to pass
the Joe and Dianne test.
So the Garofalos are gonna meet
these lucky nominees tomorrow,
but here's the deal.
They're only gonna pick three,
and then we're going to watch
Victoria go on the dates live.
[cheering]
So I think you two have
your work cut out for you,
and we will see you
all in a couple of days
to find love for Victoria.
[cheering]
JOE: Thank you, everybody.
[pleasant music]
What about Victoria?
What time?
Is she coming soon?
Um, I'm honestly not sure.
She hasn't responded to my text.
DIANNE: Gonna be fun.
I don't think she
knows what we've done--
obviously.
I know.
I can tell.
DIANNE: Yeah, she needs it.
Hello.
Hey.
I knew she'd--
JOE: Victoria.
- be very happy to see you.
Hello.
I already ate a tomato.
- Did you really?
- Grab the tomato.
Grab the tomato.
Coming up.
Good to have you home.
Look how happy she is.
She's, of course,
in the kitchen.
I already went into the
garden to get a tomato.
- You're so happy.
- Oh, did you see?
It was really good.
Oh, yeah, pretty good, but
it does have a lot of pepper.
Yeah, that's a
tomato-colored dress.
ANASTASIA: It is tomato.
- And I'm the color--
ANASTASIA: Tomato sisters.
- It's hot.
JOE: You're home for a couple of
days, so what do you want to do?
Well, let's go to
the market, right?
Well, first always.
DIANNE: Maybe you stay home
and do something with us.
Let me tell you this.
We've been planning
something for quite a while.
[intriguing music]
So we have a surprise
while you're here.
Now, I'm kind of worried.
[laughter]
She loves surprises.
(LAUGHING) I hate surprises.
[interposing voices]
JOE: Victoria, you know
the old expression.
It takes a village?
OK.
JOE: We literally brought
the village together.
DIANNE: We think that you
need love and romance, and--
JOE: So we contacted
teaches, dance
people, college, high school,
neighbors, friends of friends.
We love you.
We know you.
We figured these
people would know you.
We got together
at the town hall.
Whole place packed.
- 70 people.
- Packed.
70 people.
DIANNE: And you had friends
that nominated some guys that we
thought maybe you could date.
What do you think?
What are the-- I
don't understand.
[intriguing music]
OK, what do you think?
So a lot to process,
but go ahead.
OK, so you went to people
we all know that know me
and know my life--
Yes.
- and you said,
finally help us find
our daughter someone to date?
That's correct.
[laughs]
OK.
[playful music]
Listen.
You're so beloved
by so many people.
Fact.
JOE: So many people
talking good about you.
Everybody.
I feel like no
more friendzoning.
You have to open your
mind a little bit.
Don't write them off.
DIANNE: And what could be
the worst that happens?
You have a great time with
some pretty interesting guys.
Yeah.
You want a man,
you got to do this.
I pretty much have
everything else in my life
really figured out, but the
one thing that's missing
is a partner who eventually
turns into a husband
to share that with
and start a family,
which would be really nice.
[laughs]
This is crazy.
[laughs]
But typical for the Garofalos.
Right?
Settle in.
It's gonna be a
weekend to remember.
Oh.
Oh, no.
[laughs]
She's not showing it, but
she's definitely nervous.
[pleasant music]
JOE: We're finally
gonna meet these guys.
What do you think?
DIANNE: Well, I'm looking
forward to meeting them.
JOE: Oh, this must be Sosa.
I hear good things
about you, Sosa.
- Oh, really?
- Yes.
Yeah, Megan was
bragging about you.
I love Megan.
She comes by the
restaurant all the time.
So you've been a
chef for a long time?
We're the restaurant
business 35 years.
Maybe not 35 years.
[laughter]
How old are you?
Well, I'm 39.
I'll be 40 this year.
DIANNE: Oh, really?
OK.
Do you like to travel?
You have your passport?
I do.
I have my passport.
I love to travel.
So tell me, did you
buy your forever home?
I don't want to buy a forever
home without a forever person.
DIANNE: Oh, I like that.
I don't know what they
told you about Victoria,
but she might put you in
the friend zone right away.
How are you going to wow her?
I'm just gonna woo her and
woo her with all the things
that we southern gentlemen do--
hold the doors, get real
close with her father.
[laughs]
Hey, you know the deal.
You know the deal.
[fun music]
- Let's see if you're the one.
JOE: Yeah.
DIANNE: Nice to meet you, Sosa.
Nick's calling.
He wants us to meet Tristen.
You must be Tristen.
- Hi.
- Yes, indeed.
Pleasure.
Joe Garofalo.
Nice to meet you, Tristen.
So we're looking for
romance, tradition.
There's so many things that we
want for our wonderful daughter.
Well, I'm definitely
looking to settle
down, to start a family.
I mean, I'm hoping that
she's open to having
at least two children.
That would be the case.
Got to have at least two.
Like, what's a
typical Saturday
with you and your
friends or with a date?
Activity-wise, on the
first date, I generally
like to go for karaoke.
- What's your go-to song?
- Ooh, I have a lot of--
"Don't Stop Believin'" is
like the number-one karaoke.
Well, I used to--
"Don't Stop Believin'."
JOE: World class.
That's, like, the
end of the night song,
so generally, we'll
try to avoid that one.
So you know your
music, it seems.
Oh, I'm a huge music fan.
You like Broadway shows
and all that kind of thing?
Oh, yeah.
I'm trying to think
of the last one I saw.
?
Michael Jackson,
not Michael Jordan.
No.
No, no, no.
But I mean, if they did
that, I might go as well.
DIANNE: [laughs]
Oh, one second.
We got to take the picture.
He's got a good look.
- Ready?
Yes.
All righty.
Thank you so much.
- Thank you, Tristen.
God bless you, man.
[pleasant music]
Oh, this is where
the next one's at?
Hey, I'm Michael.
Nice to see you, Michael.
Nice to meet you.
JOE: So tell us about yourself.
I'm 33.
Never been married.
No kids out there.
Don't you want to have some?
Yeah, yeah, someday.
How fast is someday?
My daughter's 34.
She's very ready.
When I got my house, there
were a couple extra rooms.
Oh.
DIANNE: OK.
But we joke that it's more
of a just-add-wife situation.
Oh.
Just add wife.
OK.
Now, my daughter,
Victoria, loves traveling.
Do you have your passport?
I do.
The passport, it lives right
next to my pilot's license.
Oh, wow.
Oh, OK.
Oh.
So what about hobbies?
I'm a volunteer referee for
women's roller derby league.
Oh.
Ha.
That should be fun.
- Wow.
Wow.
- [laughs]
DIANNE: Well, I'm glad that
your cousin nominated you.
- Yeah, thank you, Michael.
- And it was great to meet you.
I'm gonna just take
a picture of you.
Oh, yeah.
And we'll see.
Boom.
OK.
I think it's a good one.
JOE: Yeah, I think he's
got a good potentiality.
DIANNE: Sounds good.
- Joe.
Dianne.
- Oh, hey.
- How are y'all doing?
Good to see you.
Are we gonna go in and--
- Yeah, come on in.
- It's so hot out here.
- You're telling me, yeah.
- Yeah.
JOE: You know, we
love book shops.
So, yeah, so, Tony--
DIANNE: Tell us about yourself.
TONY: I'm 28 years old,
and I'm about that age
to really just settle
down, find my partner.
So what about hidden talents.
I love dancing, singing.
Oh, how about a song?
Can you--
Come on, Tony.
A song on the spot?
DIANNE: Sure.
JOE: Tony, you got
to be spontaneous.
DIANNE: I don't know.
Maybe sing a little,
just a little.
It can be nice to be serenaded.
Come on, Tony.
DIANNE: I like that.
Come on.
JOE: Throw out a few bars.
DIANNE: Let's hear.
- Um--
[playful music]
Ha.
TONY: There you go.
- So you have to sing.
So what do you sing, Tony?
I gotta say, I might
be too nervous to sing.
Well, Victoria's quite a girl.
Loud girl.
Do you think that she
would overshadow you maybe?
- I'm very outgoing--
- She knows what she wants.
- and I can be
over the top, too.
But I also know when
to kind of draw it
back and be somebody's partner.
[pleasant music]
Can't forget it.
Smile.
All righty.
- Here we go.
Thank you so much.
JOE: Tony's a good-looking guy.
DIANNE: Yeah, good.
JOE: I think he's
got his head on.
I'm just wondering
about his age.
That may be the only-- oh,
- Hey.
- Hey.
- Hi.
I'm Keren.
So you Irish?
It's actually, biblical.
DIANNE: Oh.
- OK.
Really?
- Yeah, it means battering ram.
[laughs]
[laughter]
It's a pretty cool name.
So, how old are you?
I'm 35.
DIANNE: Oh.
JOE: Oh, you look good.
You've got that
boyish look about you.
DIANNE: You look younger.
Yes.
- Thank you.
- Good.
Where are you in your life?
So, what are you looking for?
I travel a lot for my job.
It's hard to meet
people that way.
So what is your
job, by the way?
I work for an
energy drink company,
so I do a lot of events for
them, like promotional events.
OK, she does events,
food and wine events.
Kind of similar
industry, then, yeah.
Where would you
go on a first date?
A museum, I think,
is great, especially
if you're into art and history.
DIANNE: She loves 'em.
She does, yeah.
JOE: That's good.
- Let me get a picture.
- OK.
All righty.
Boom.
Got it.
Thank you so much.
- Absolutely.
- It was very good to meet you.
- It was a pleasure.
[pleasant music]
DIANNE: Now we have a
lot of things to discuss.
Because there's
some interesting guys.
We just got a figure out--
- Full of surprise.
So--
All right, so what
do you want to do?
OK, so here we go.
Let's see.
Sosa.
Yes.
39, gonna be 40.
And I think he's very
southern gentleman.
Interesting, and, um--
He's in the restaurant.
She's in the restaurant.
DIANNE: Well, yeah,
I know, but I--
We're in the
restaurant business.
DIANNE: Well, I just know
that they're gonna get along,
and it's gonna be great.
But that's another thing.
Will that spark enough
for them to be romantic?
Tristen.
OK, he's a possibility.
Tristen was a
nice, low-key guy.
And we got along with
him, but will Victoria?
- Could be.
- Could be.
I don't know.
We're gonna have to
see about this one.
OK, but I think--
OK, keep him.
DIANNE: I'm keeping him.
And then there's Michael.
He's got the house
with the bedrooms,
like, he was talking
about a family.
Waiting for the wife.
Right.
Now, may have to
have him trim the beard
because I know Victoria--
- [laughs]
- Right?
I mean, she says she's
not a beard person,
but I think the guy
shines through his beard.
He's a keeper.
- OK.
OK.
Let's do this.
JOE: Tony.
DIANNE: It's just that he
is 28, and I think Victoria
might run over him, right?
I don't even have
to say more, so OK.
Ehh, OK.
[laughs]
OK, Keren.
Keren was an interesting one.
Oh, he was totally
nothing like I expected.
Genuine, friendly.
Maybe because of the way he
was dressed, but he was, um--
35, but he looked the
youngest of everybody.
Good-looking guy.
So it's Michael that we
have, and I say Sosa.
JOE: He's in.
So it comes down
to either Keren--
Or Tristen.
JOE: Or Tristen.
What do you think?
Keren.
Forget the Tristen, [laughs]
only because I don't think he's
different from anybody else that
she meets, and it doesn't work.
And I like Keren.
I think he's ready,
and I think she is too.
All right.
And I can't wait to see
where this is gonna go.
[fun music]
So we're in.
Fingers crossed.
Woo.
1, 2, 3.
Woo.
[laughs]
[uplifting music]
(SINGING) Well, I feel
like something's changing
Now you won't let it go
VICTORIA: Dating
in New York, I see
a lot of men that are
unsure of what they want,
and that's annoying.
Hopefully going on dates and
putting myself out there,
I will be comfortable.
Hey, how's it going, daughter?
So you excited?
I don't know where
I'm going, but sure.
DIANNE: [laughs] I'm sure
it'll be a nice date.
You know, I want
to see you happy.
I want to see you
do that dating,
so it's very important
to me that you
just give it your best shot.
Don't put these guys
in the friend zone.
OK.
It feels very weird and,
like, very unnatural to have
that conversation with my mom.
All right.
Don't cry.
[laughs] So why are you
getting so emotional, honey?
I know I don't talk to
you like this, but--
[laughs]
It's too--
With you, it's weird.
[laughter]
I know your dad's the
one that always says those,
but I'm saying it
now to you, OK?
Date, have fun,
and enjoy it, OK?
[laughter]
All right, sweetie.
Give me a hug.
I love you, sweetie.
Stop.
You know I'm not the
emotional type, but I just--
this is important to
me and and Dad, too.
OK.
I really cherish my
relationship with my mom,
and it's just, like,
I know in my core how
special of a relationship
I have with, really,
both of my parents.
[pleasant music]
[fun music]
DIANNE: I'm just wondering--
- All right.
Hi.
Welcome, everybody.
Welcome.
Come on in.
Welcome, everybody
from Peachtree City.
Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
OK, great.
So I am so excited.
As you know, we all
gathered together here.
You all nominated
a couple of people.
They were fully screened
by Joe and Dianne.
We grilled them.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
They grilled them.
They narrowed it down
to three top choices,
and now we all get
to sit together
and watch the dates live.
[cheering]
Now, after we watch the
dates, we'll all vote on who
we think Victoria should date.
And now we are gonna to watch
live Victoria and Michael.
[applause]
[fun music]
Sitting by the water,
it's very calming.
So, yes, it was nervous.
Like, who's this
person gonna be?
What are they gonna look like?
What are they gonna be about?
Hey, are you Victoria?
Hi.
I am.
MICHAEL: Hey.
Great to meet you.
I'm Michael.
VICTORIA: Nice to meet you.
MICHAEL: Your parents had
nothing but great things
to say about you yesterday.
Oh, I'm excited.
Yeah, it was fantastic.
Michael just pulls
up in the golf cart.
It was very Peachtree
City of him.
The beard maybe
shocked me at first.
That actually wasn't a
turn-off, but I don't know.
It fit him.
He's a very good-looking man.
He just has, like, a
warm presence about him.
He has a really nice smile.
I already had to like,
deal with my fear of birds,
walking up to the lake,
like that one right there.
[laughter]
Or geese, I should say.
I was, like, attacked by
geese when I was a child.
My aunt ran away.
There's photos.
They just, like, give
me the heebie jeebies.
[laughs] Oh, yeah.
[quirky music]
[laughter]
VICTORIA: So, OK,
give me the scoop.
MICHAEL: I work
in cyber security.
I work to live.
I don't live to work.
So I enjoy getting out,
actually, on the lake over here
and kayaking when I can.
Roller Derby keeps
me pretty busy, too.
Oh.
And then we actually have
Falcon Field over here.
Oh, yeah.
MICHAEL: I'm a member
of a flying club there,
and I've got my pilot's license.
OK, what don't you do?
[laughs]
MICHAEL: I'm bad at
remembering to clean bathrooms.
Oh.
Interesting.
[laughs]
MICHAEL: [laughs]
OK.
So that's my weak spot.
That's your red flag.
MICHAEL: Yeah.
- OK.
It happens maybe, like, two
or three weeks after it should.
OK.
[laughter]
So what took you north?
Look, I mean, you
know what this is like.
It's great.
I loved it here, but
there's, like, the itch of,
let's go to New York,
[pleasant music]
I don't know.
I just want to go out.
I want to travel.
I want to go to
all these countries
and be, like, all right, we're
gonna take cooking classes here,
and then going to go here.
Then we're probably gonna
take the train to do this.
But, like, we can
rest one day, I guess.
MICHAEL: The good news is
that I enjoy traveling.
I'm awful at planning travel.
And I'll be happily the golden
retriever that just follows
you, whatever we're looking at.
VICTORIA: Yeah.
I also-- raising kids and having
a family is equally important.
And, just curious how you feel.
I'm 33, so not having to
chase a toddler around at 40
is a good plan.
Yeah.
Oh, so, wait.
If you haven't heard the word
tomato in the last week or so,
I feel like people are always
talking about me and tomatoes.
- I did hear you grow your own.
- I do.
Yeah.
The way I show people I love
them is that I cook for them.
Any excuse I can to smoke a
brisket or make a pastrami--
Yes.
- it's going on the smoker.
I don't know how to cook meat.
Maybe that's our second date.
VICTORIA: Yeah.
[laughs]
[uplifting music]
Look, obviously, I
don't live here anymore.
Are you open to coming back?
Yeah.
I would for the right person
and make it make sense.
[vocalizing]
So I don't know what I was
expecting versus what it is,
but it was just really nice.
- The ducks getting too close?
- Yeah.
[laughs]
MICHAEL: [laughs] Oh.
But you can protect me.
That's fine.
[laughs]
I'll step in if
they get any closer.
[laughs]
[applause]
So cute.
Oh, so cute.
[fun music]
OK, so let's tune in
to Victoria and Keren.
[applause]
VICTORIA: Hello.
Hi.
I'm Victoria.
I'm Keren.
When I see Keren, he's
obviously taller than me.
He's got a smile on his face.
Immediately I was, like, OK,
let's see where this goes.
KEREN: Ladies first.
VICTORIA: All right.
Let's see.
[pleasant music]
I have to concentrate.
I can't even chit
chat and ask you
a million and 10 questions like
I feel like my parents probably
did, Keren.
KEREN: Yeah.
Yeah.
There were a lot of questions
going back and forth.
[laughs]
- What did you learn?
About your intense and
deep-seated love of tomatoes.
VICTORIA: So the fact that I got
a red ball [laughs] isn't weird
or anything.
Yeah.
Your love of red,
spherical-shaped things--
[laughter]
VICTORIA: Do you have a
feeling about tomatoes?
[laughs]
Honestly, I prefer the sauces
they produce to the tomatoes
themselves.
VICTORIA: Fair.
All right.
Here we go.
Mmm.
[quirky music]
Yeah, it's crazy how messed
up that golf club is, though.
Yeah.
[laughter]
All right, I got
you sour apple.
Mmm.
Cheers.
[laughs]
- Cheers.
Absolutely.
- Thank you.
All right, 'cause I'm
just gonna grill you now.
You were saying you
travel a lot for work.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, so I work for an
energy drink company.
And so I fly around
to different events.
It's very off the
cuff, but I like that.
I like being thrown
into these situations
and just trying to
figure out stuff.
Baptism by fire.
KEREN: Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, I love that.
Yeah.
Is that how you live your
life, though, outside of work?
Like, do you like structure?
No, I chafe at a schedule.
Uh-huh.
That stresses me out so much.
KEREN: It does?
I like a plan.
If you had to picture your
life five years down the road,
and not job-wise, but life-wise,
what is that ideal situation?
I really want to go to Japan--
Yeah.
- because I really love
Japan and the culture,
and I do watch a lot of anime.
- Oh.
- Yeah.
I really want to be able
to plan it out to where
I can spend a whole year there.
Don't you go to work?
[laughs]
[laughs]
[quirky music]
This fits somewhere in that
five-year life plan of yours,
right?
- Yeah, exactly.
Yes.
Yeah, one of those
years spent in Japan.
OK.
That leaves four of the
years for other stuff.
I wish that it could be a
situation where you could just
build, save up your
vacations, and add
up all the weeks together
until you get a whole year.
But that is not how it
works, unfortunately.
Yeah.
No.
It's a 802k.
It's twice as good as a 401.
VICTORIA: It was a dad joke.
- (LAUGHING) I'm sorry.
Your--
[laughter]
Yeah, so I was talking
to your parents,
and they let me in
on a little trait
of yours, which is that you tend
to friendzone a lot of people.
How are we sizing up?
What zone am I in?
What zone am I in?
I like it.
Um, I don't know.
I feel like when I'm
looking to date someone,
I want to make sure we see
our lives on a similar path.
KEREN: Mm-hmm.
And there's obviously
nothing wrong with what
you're thinking about.
Like, I want to do
this, and I want
to live in Japan for a year.
But it just seems
so off the mark
of what I pictured for my life.
Yeah.
VICTORIA: Yeah.
That's kind of the vibe
that I was picking up.
Not gonna lie.
You know what?
It's nice to the zone you're in.
But, yeah, awesome.
It was fun.
It was nice to meet you.
KEREN: Yeah.
It was absolutely--
Oh, gosh.
That was a lot.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
I'm so stressed out.
NICK: I felt like it
was going so good,
and then she was, like,
well, it's not perfect,
so I don't think
this is the one.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
[fun music]
Now we are going to
watch Victoria and Sosa.
Are you ready to watch?
- Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: All
right, let's do it.
All right.
[applause]
This has been a very
pleasant experience.
If we could date like
this from the jump,
it would be a lot easier life.
[laughs]
Hello, hello.
Nice to meet you.
I'm Victoria.
Nice to meet you as well.
I'm Sosa.
I feel like I know so
much about you already.
So you met my parents, which
is a little unorthodox way
of doing this, I suppose.
I think it's
probably the best way.
Yeah.
Why do you think that?
I mean, I think it shows a
lot of insight on who you are.
I get to see,
like, a future you.
Yeah.
I asked them, I was, like,
which one is she more like?
- What did they say?
- It's a combination.
The perfect mix?
SOSA: [laughs] There you go.
VICTORIA: That first,
initial thought,
is, like, Sosa's is a
very good-looking guy.
Happy, bright smile.
Immediately good vibes.
So I heard that
you're a foodie.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Tell me, what
exactly do you do?
So I produce food
and wine festivals
around the United States.
So I get to travel
and kind of create
those little pop-up
moments of joy for people.
Hello.
Oh.
What have we got here?
We got a little
surprise here for you.
OK, so question for you
Yes.
Are you a savory or
are you a sweet girl?
VICTORIA: I would
say typically savory,
but I feel like with crepes,
you have to go sweet.
OK.
OK.
So there's a bunch
of toppings here.
Yeah.
I want to see what you got.
It's a better vibe
than the last guy.
VICTORIA: I don't know.
I've actually never
done this before.
Like, look.
I rolled this up.
Obviously I'm not French.
[laughs]
Oh.
It came out fast.
A lot of sugar there, pal.
SOSA: [laughs] So you're
a banana girl, I see.
I like-- there's not
many foods I don't eat.
SOSA: Really?
I don't like hot dogs.
Really?
But I'll eat a corn dog.
SOSA: Really?
VICTORIA: So that
doesn't make sense.
And I don't really like soup.
[quirky music]
Soup?
You know what?
You're the second person I've
heard this week say that.
I don't like to be hot,
and I feel like it has to be
super, super cold outside.
It's, like, I'm always warm.
OK.
I run hot, too.
I like to think of myself
as an old Chevrolet.
OK.
[laughs]
[laughs]
[laughter]
So five years, what
does your life look like?
[thoughtful music]
OK.
I sacrificed the last
10 years of my life
in the restaurant industry.
Yes.
And my knife was my wife.
I've never heard
that one before.
I get it.
Yeah.
I just kind of realized, it's
time for the next chapter.
Yeah.
She's letting him
talk, which says a lot.
Like, that says a lot.
She wants to listen.
SOSA: [laughs] I
love it, though.
I love it, though.
I had a very specific
question for you.
How spontaneous are you?
[playful music]
I can be spontaneous,
but I also like a plan.
For me, I'm not really
good at planning things
until we're doing it.
Oh, yeah, no, absolutely--
[laughs]
- that would-- hmm.
SOSA: So I've had a
good date with you.
Hopefully, you
enjoyed it as well.
VICTORIA: Yeah.
No, it's been awesome.
I feel like I'm
blessed to be here.
She likes him.
SOSA: I guess what I'm
trying to say is I had a lot
of butterflies about this.
I was really anxious.
And when you walked in the
door, I kind of grew calm.
I'm pleasantly surprised.
[intriguing music]
The brown eyes
and the brown hair
are very right down my alley.
He likes.
VICTORIA: But on that expressway
of a relationship or whatnot,
there's exits.
Yeah.
And I kind of want to keep
moving forward with you.
Ooh.
Call her out.
SOSA: Getting to know you seems
like it's gonna be a lot of fun.
(SINGING) Get your
hands on the ball, man
You got me like a heat wave
[laughs]
(SINGING) Heat wave
Thank you.
I'll see you later.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Oh, wow.
Oh.
[applause]
Wow.
Everybody OK?
[laughter]
Holy.
That was-- I'm exhausted.
All right.
All right, so here's
what we're gonna do.
Each one of you
is gonna come up.
I need you to write down
the name of the gentleman
that you think
Victoria should choose,
who you would choose for her.
Put it into the ballot box.
I'm gonna count them up, OK?
Cast your ballots.
(SINGING) I know that
you're all mine, all mine
Ain't no question, though,
in my mind, my mind
I'm picking Sosa.
They have so much in common.
I think they'd make
the best match.
EMILY: I'm going.
Michael I feel like they
had so much in common.
ANASTASIA: I want Sosa, but I
think she's gonna pick Michael.
But I want Sosa.
I think that if she had
a second date, that he
would learn more about her.
And I think he would be a good
fit for the family, for sure.
[sighs] I agree.
I gotta go with Sosa.
I think he is a
vibe, and we all know
Victoria is all about a vibe.
She is.
She's gonna pick Michael.
[pleasant music]
Hello.
Hi, I'm Ashley.
I've been here, helping
your parents look
for the right person for you.
I fell like you and I
are gonna be friends.
I don't want to be presumptuous.
But we're in the same
vibe, so I saw you.
You're my kind of girl.
Right?
How's it going?
Good.
It's a whirlwind.
Is this the weirdest
thing you've ever done?
[laughs]
- The craziest thing.
I'm a planner.
But I think I'm open to
the possibilities in a way
that maybe I wasn't before.
If you could have your
friends and family screen
your dates ahead of
time, do you think you'd
have a higher success rate?
Absolutely.
What I'm doing
hasn't worked yet.
We want you so badly to be
happy because I see your life,
and I go, she deserves love.
It feels like it's time, and
it feels like you've earned it.
Thank you.
I've held a mirror up
to myself this week,
and I learned that
it doesn't have
to be perfect to be wonderful.
And do things scared, because
if you're not doing them,
you're letting yourself down.
Do you know right now who--
Um--
[quirky music]
I mean, it's one date, too.
I'd honestly like--
- Yeah.
VICTORIA: You don't know
what you don't know,
and that's the point of dating.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Totally.
OK, so we're gonna find out
tonight when we gather together
who the town picked,
who your parents picked,
and then all of us are dying
to know who you have picked.
Oh.
This is gonna be interesting,
I can't wait.
It's gonna be really fun.
Let's do it.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Let's do it.
- Let's do it.
- I'm so excited.
Yeah, OK.
[laughs]
[fun music]
(SINGING) Oh, I was
living with my eyes closed
Until you woke me up
JOE: I see all the
people love Victoria.
This is great.
Come on.
I can't believe all these
good people keep showing up.
OK, welcome back, everybody.
We're so excited you're here.
[cheering]
I am so sad to have to
put my golf cart away.
[laughter]
I don't want to give it back.
It feels like a part of me now.
So I've so enjoyed being here.
Thank you.
Thank you, guys.
[applause]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: She has
come a long way this week.
Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: I
think it's been-- right?
- from where she started to--
JOE: Oh, no doubt.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
- where she is now.
DIANNE: That she even
agreed to this is amazing.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
It's huge, yeah.
JOE: We love her, and we
want her to find love.
So we'll see what happens.
[applause]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: All right,
and now we've got to bring
out the woman of the hour.
Victoria, come on out.
[cheering]
Tori.
Hi.
Hi.
Hi.
We love you, Tor.
[laughs]
So the entire community,
we all got together,
and we watched your dates live.
Great.
[laughter]
We had so much fun.
What is it like
for you to now be
looking your community in the
eyes and to see this firsthand?
OK, this is wild, you guys.
I think everyone knows
that this is so unlike me,
but everyone showed
up and showed out.
And obviously, thank
you to my parents
for doing this and coming
along on this wild--
We want the best for you.
VICTORIA:--this ride.
We love you.
Whatever for you.
VICTORIA: I mean--
[applause]
- they're down for
a lot of things,
but this is another level.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Um, I do
have the results of a poll
that we conducted.
VICTORIA: OK.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
The community all
decided that the
person that they think
is the perfect fit for you is--
[fun music]
- Sosa.
[cheering]
But on that expressway
of relationship or whatnot,
there's exits.
Yeah.
And I kind of want to keep
moving forward with you.
[applause]
And now I would like to
tell you-- hold my hand--
who Joe and Dianne, your loving
parents, have selected for you.
Michael.
- Oh.
I like Mike.
[applause]
VICTORIA: The way I
show people I love
them is that I cook for them.
Any excuse I can to smoke a
brisket or make a pastrami--
- Yes.
- Maybe that's our second date.
VICTORIA: Yeah.
[laughter]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: All right, so
is it possible that you have
potentially found somebody that
you want to continue getting
to know here in Peachtree City?
Yeah, absolutely, yeah.
She said absolutely.
She said absolutely.
Love is in the air.
VICTORIA: Absolutely.
I know there's one I'd
like to get to know more.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
Are we ready for her to--
Drumroll.
I'm nervous, and
it's not even for me.
Are we ready?
We've been ready for a while.
[laughter]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Yeah?
Are you ready?
I'm anxious.
Let's go.
[applause]
Bring him in.
Bring him in.
VICTORIA: Stop.
OK.
OK.
The person that I've chosen is--
(SINGING) Could this
be the moment I say
- Michael.
[cheering]
So maybe they know best.
(SINGING) I know
that you're the one
I know that you're the one
AUDIENCE: (CHANTING) Michael.
Michael.
Good seeing you again.
Oh, Michael.
I told you.
You had our vote.
Michael, we're so
excited you're here.
Hey.
Thank you.
Yeah.
How does this feel
to you right now?
Definitely not normal.
[laughter]
But after having
our conversation,
I knew their daughter
was gonna be wonderful.
And the date was
really a great time,
being able to hold
a conversation
and not have to sit there
and stare at each other,
although it's not a bad view.
AUDIENCE: Oh.
MICHAEL: [laughs]
So what do you think is
sort of the next step here?
I think a date
two makes sense.
Great.
[cheering]
I'm certainly looking forward
to playing those board games
together and trying
some of the tomatoes
I've heard so much about.
Maybe starting a second garden
down here in my backyard.
JOE: Oh, yes.
OK.
I like it.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Thank you
all so much for coming.
We wish them all the
best and all of the love
and luck in the future.
[applause]
[sentimental music]
VICTORIA: The whole
time, everyone's
like, what are you looking for?
What is the perfect person?
I'm like, I don't know
how to explain it.
I just feel like people have
an energy and a personality,
and that's what I got from you.
Yeah.
Maybe she's the one.
So should we hop
in the golf cart
and go grab some margaritas?
Did you bring
your golf cart here?
- Yeah, it's right over there.
- Yes.
All right, come on.
(SINGING) I know that
you're the one, whoa
I say, I say
I say, I say
I know that you're the one, whoa
[fun music]
Ooh.
Don't drive into the lake.
Here I go.
Haaa.
I'm not bad at this.
[horn honking]
Ha ha.
I'm in a golf cart
in Peachtree City.
[uplifting music]
This town loves
their golf carts.
What would you do
if you were single,
you were living in New
York, and your family
and your entire hometown decided
to get together and set you up
on some dates when you just
thought you were coming
home to visit for the weekend?
Victoria is about to find out.
[joyous music]
I'm Ashley Williams, and
this is Small Town Setup.
[horn honking]
[fun music]
I'm here to help Joe
and Dianne find love
for their daughter, Victoria.
She's a senior-level executive
who left home to pursue
her dreams in New York.
She's got this tendency to
put guys into the friend zone.
Do you think her parents
can help her with that?
Let's find her love.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
We're about to dive
into an adventure filled with
heart, hope, and a big dose
of small-town charm.
The Garofalo family has
gotten everybody together,
and we're hoping that we're
gonna find somebody today.
Let's hit it.
Is there snacks there?
Woo!
Is there like a
charcuterie board?
How do you say that?
[title music]
[fun music]
Hey.
Welcome to Scoops.
Are you Joe?
JOE: I am Joe.
Are you Dianne?
DIANNE: Hi, Ashley.
We've been expecting you.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: I'm Ashley.
I am so excited to meet you.
I brought you a little gift
since we're in Peachtree.
So this is a peach
cobbler recipe, so--
DIANNE: Thank you.
Hi, I'm Dianne.
And I'm Joe.
And we're the Garofalos.
And we're hoping to help our
oldest daughter, Victoria,
find love and happiness.
I am so excited to talk
to you about Victoria.
JOE: Ah, Victoria.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Let's go and
have a seat together and chat.
Yeah, let's go outside.
We're waiting for Mr.
Right to meet Mrs. Right,
to make it all right.
Because if you can't
stand us, forget about it.
Who can't stand us?
Come on.
[laughs]
It's a beautiful
day, and I feel so
lucky to get to chat with you.
By the way, I got really good
at driving a golf cart earlier.
I think I would fit right in.
You have the golf
cart community here.
JOE: 12 years old.
You're 12 years old, you
can drive with a parent.
OK, so I haven't
met Victoria yet.
Can you tell me a
little bit about her?
Well, she's our first-born,
and she's amazing.
Yeah.
She does event planning in
food and wine, and she's a very
productive, happy go-getter.
[fun music]
Victoria is used to being strong
because it's her business.
She's been in
authoritative positions,
and she has two younger sisters.
But she's got such a soft side.
She is very emotional, but
she doesn't always show it.
And she has tons of guy friends.
They all love her.
She puts them right
in the friend zone.
JOE: Victoria is like an alpha
woman who's there for everyone
else, but it's time for her.
Basically, I told
her, if you actually
want to get married and have
those kids you talk about,
time to date.
JOE: It's time to take
down the no vacancy sign.
[laughs] So good.
JOE: You got to have
the vacancy sign on.
OK, tell me--
I mean, you two are obviously
still very much in love.
Married, what, 35 years?
38 years.
38 years, whatever.
But we met the regular way.
How did you meet?
We were at a club,
and he kept doing, like.
I don't know what he
was doing with his head.
He was trying to say something.
I said, look, I'm not
much into sign language,
but would you like to dance?
Whatever.
But he was wearing plastic
shoes, zippered shirt-- he was--
What do you mean, you
were wearing plastic shoes?
DIANNE: It was terrible.
He had blue eyes,
and he was tall.
I said, I'm only dancing
with him, anyway.
JOE: She saw the
potential, though.
Oh, and she was right.
[laughs]
What do you
think she's looking
for right now in a partner?
Like, if you're talking about
a star, loves Ryan Gosling.
We even like Idris
Elba together.
So I'm just saying,
a tall guy who's--
JOE: Comfortable
in his own skin.
DIANNE:--comfortable
in his own skin.
Tall is important.
She likes to go out,
but she's not clubbing.
But she loves to go out
with family and friends,
and we are horse-racing people.
She enjoys dancing,
Broadway shows.
Ideally, it'd be
somebody that loves food.
They have to love tomatoes and--
[laughs]
JOE: Tomatoes.
DIANNE: No joke.
That was her last--
JOE: She sent a picture
the other day with nine
different tomatoes in one bowl.
So he needs to be a
fan of tomatoes would
be one of the main criteria.
JOE: Yes, yes, which
can be made into sauce
because we're Italian.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Sure.
So why do you think she would
find a potential partner
here as opposed to New York?
There's a certain
familiarity about your hometown
that never goes away.
So I know Victoria had some
great experiences here.
Wow.
OK, so the bar is high.
We have quite a
task ahead of us.
[laughs]
- We do.
We really do.
We're gonna kind of
hold a forum, where we
work together as a community.
And we're gonna see
if love for Victoria
is right here in Peachtree City.
JOE: It takes a
village to find a man.
I mean, it's exciting.
But Mr. Right, he's out
there, within 10 miles of here.
I think it's possible.
[fun music]
This is beautiful.
JOE: What do you think?
Not a bad place, right?
[gasps] You've
been working hard.
(SINGING) It's
easy for you to say
JOE: She didn't see it.
- Welcome, guys.
Hi.
JOE: Hey.
Glad you could come.
Are you related
to these people?
This is my beautiful daughter.
Stop it.
This is fiance number one.
Nice to meet you.
Thank you.
Nice to meet you.
Are you related to the family?
I'm a family friend.
JOE: You know, it's amazing
to get so many people to show
up on a Thursday, a hot day.
People even work early.
But I think it
speaks to the town.
And it speaks to Victoria.
They'll willing to
do this for her.
Yeah, it's all
relationships, and I
think people love Victoria.
OK, welcome, Peachtree City.
[cheering]
Are we ready to find
love for Victoria?
[cheering]
I need you, Joe and
Dianne, to take it away.
Thank you for showing up.
We're looking for
a good-looking guy,
30 to 40, confident,
heart-centered,
successful, likes games,
likes loud Italians.
[laughter]
DIANNE: Victoria's got a lot
of guy friends, tons of them,
but they're all in
the friend zone.
We want her to find romance,
not another male friend
to bring to the table,
'cause they eat a lot.
[laughter]
Let's find her love.
[cheering]
So I'm opening up the floor.
Who here has an
idea for Victoria?
[gasps] Wait a second.
All right, is this
the best friend?
My name is Megan.
OK, stand up.
Please tell us who you have.
All right, so I nominate Sosa.
He is 6' 4", good-looking.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
MEGAN: He's a chef, knows
how to work the kitchen,
which I know Victoria loves.
JOE: We're looking for something
in the bedroom eventually.
Oh my goodness.
[laughter]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK, OK.
This is Hallmark.
JOE: Hey, come on.
Can't have kids if they're
always in the kitchen.
Joe.
[laughs]
[applause]
All right.
Hi, there.
What's your name?
- Hi.
I'm Dana.
I would like to nominate
someone we lovingly
refer to as Cousin Michael.
[quirky music]
Is he Victoria's cousin?
- No, thank goodness.
- Great.
Great.
Great.
He's actually my
husband's cousin.
Oh, OK.
And I think Michael has the
biggest heart I've ever known.
He loves to do everything--
hiking and kayaking.
He also got his pilot's
license just kind of for fun
because he loved Aeronautics.
Wow.
He loves kids.
[applause]
- Good with kids.
- We love it.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: We did have
a little nibble over here.
Come over here, sir.
What's your name?
Zac.
Hi, Zac.
Welcome.
Who do you have for Victoria?
One of my buddies, Keren.
He works in a similar
field to Victoria,
so they have a lot
of similarities.
He's a little more on
the shy side, though.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Do
you think he would
be able to hang with the
big personalities and the
strong dynamic in this family?
Well, Victoria's
got enough personality
for both of 'em, but--
[laughter]
- he Would definitely
be able to hold his own.
Yeah.
- OK.
Good.
[applause]
Thanks.
Great.
Thank you so much.
OK.
DIANNE: Oh, Nick's got one.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: We've
got somebody right here.
Whoa.
Victory.
I'm her cousin, so
I feel like I should
be the expert on this one.
So my buddy, Tristen, probably
the best guy out of all.
No offense to the
guys you nominated.
[laughter]
He's an animal care specialist--
Oh.
- wizard In the kitchen,
and perfect height for her.
I think they're
gonna hit it off.
Does he want kids?
He wants eight kids.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Eight?
Oh, that might
actually be a problem.
[laughter]
Thank you so much.
NICK: No problem.
[applause]
Well, everybody, I feel
really good about these options.
I think the next step
is they need to pass
the Joe and Dianne test.
So the Garofalos are gonna meet
these lucky nominees tomorrow,
but here's the deal.
They're only gonna pick three,
and then we're going to watch
Victoria go on the dates live.
[cheering]
So I think you two have
your work cut out for you,
and we will see you
all in a couple of days
to find love for Victoria.
[cheering]
JOE: Thank you, everybody.
[pleasant music]
What about Victoria?
What time?
Is she coming soon?
Um, I'm honestly not sure.
She hasn't responded to my text.
DIANNE: Gonna be fun.
I don't think she
knows what we've done--
obviously.
I know.
I can tell.
DIANNE: Yeah, she needs it.
Hello.
Hey.
I knew she'd--
JOE: Victoria.
- be very happy to see you.
Hello.
I already ate a tomato.
- Did you really?
- Grab the tomato.
Grab the tomato.
Coming up.
Good to have you home.
Look how happy she is.
She's, of course,
in the kitchen.
I already went into the
garden to get a tomato.
- You're so happy.
- Oh, did you see?
It was really good.
Oh, yeah, pretty good, but
it does have a lot of pepper.
Yeah, that's a
tomato-colored dress.
ANASTASIA: It is tomato.
- And I'm the color--
ANASTASIA: Tomato sisters.
- It's hot.
JOE: You're home for a couple of
days, so what do you want to do?
Well, let's go to
the market, right?
Well, first always.
DIANNE: Maybe you stay home
and do something with us.
Let me tell you this.
We've been planning
something for quite a while.
[intriguing music]
So we have a surprise
while you're here.
Now, I'm kind of worried.
[laughter]
She loves surprises.
(LAUGHING) I hate surprises.
[interposing voices]
JOE: Victoria, you know
the old expression.
It takes a village?
OK.
JOE: We literally brought
the village together.
DIANNE: We think that you
need love and romance, and--
JOE: So we contacted
teaches, dance
people, college, high school,
neighbors, friends of friends.
We love you.
We know you.
We figured these
people would know you.
We got together
at the town hall.
Whole place packed.
- 70 people.
- Packed.
70 people.
DIANNE: And you had friends
that nominated some guys that we
thought maybe you could date.
What do you think?
What are the-- I
don't understand.
[intriguing music]
OK, what do you think?
So a lot to process,
but go ahead.
OK, so you went to people
we all know that know me
and know my life--
Yes.
- and you said,
finally help us find
our daughter someone to date?
That's correct.
[laughs]
OK.
[playful music]
Listen.
You're so beloved
by so many people.
Fact.
JOE: So many people
talking good about you.
Everybody.
I feel like no
more friendzoning.
You have to open your
mind a little bit.
Don't write them off.
DIANNE: And what could be
the worst that happens?
You have a great time with
some pretty interesting guys.
Yeah.
You want a man,
you got to do this.
I pretty much have
everything else in my life
really figured out, but the
one thing that's missing
is a partner who eventually
turns into a husband
to share that with
and start a family,
which would be really nice.
[laughs]
This is crazy.
[laughs]
But typical for the Garofalos.
Right?
Settle in.
It's gonna be a
weekend to remember.
Oh.
Oh, no.
[laughs]
She's not showing it, but
she's definitely nervous.
[pleasant music]
JOE: We're finally
gonna meet these guys.
What do you think?
DIANNE: Well, I'm looking
forward to meeting them.
JOE: Oh, this must be Sosa.
I hear good things
about you, Sosa.
- Oh, really?
- Yes.
Yeah, Megan was
bragging about you.
I love Megan.
She comes by the
restaurant all the time.
So you've been a
chef for a long time?
We're the restaurant
business 35 years.
Maybe not 35 years.
[laughter]
How old are you?
Well, I'm 39.
I'll be 40 this year.
DIANNE: Oh, really?
OK.
Do you like to travel?
You have your passport?
I do.
I have my passport.
I love to travel.
So tell me, did you
buy your forever home?
I don't want to buy a forever
home without a forever person.
DIANNE: Oh, I like that.
I don't know what they
told you about Victoria,
but she might put you in
the friend zone right away.
How are you going to wow her?
I'm just gonna woo her and
woo her with all the things
that we southern gentlemen do--
hold the doors, get real
close with her father.
[laughs]
Hey, you know the deal.
You know the deal.
[fun music]
- Let's see if you're the one.
JOE: Yeah.
DIANNE: Nice to meet you, Sosa.
Nick's calling.
He wants us to meet Tristen.
You must be Tristen.
- Hi.
- Yes, indeed.
Pleasure.
Joe Garofalo.
Nice to meet you, Tristen.
So we're looking for
romance, tradition.
There's so many things that we
want for our wonderful daughter.
Well, I'm definitely
looking to settle
down, to start a family.
I mean, I'm hoping that
she's open to having
at least two children.
That would be the case.
Got to have at least two.
Like, what's a
typical Saturday
with you and your
friends or with a date?
Activity-wise, on the
first date, I generally
like to go for karaoke.
- What's your go-to song?
- Ooh, I have a lot of--
"Don't Stop Believin'" is
like the number-one karaoke.
Well, I used to--
"Don't Stop Believin'."
JOE: World class.
That's, like, the
end of the night song,
so generally, we'll
try to avoid that one.
So you know your
music, it seems.
Oh, I'm a huge music fan.
You like Broadway shows
and all that kind of thing?
Oh, yeah.
I'm trying to think
of the last one I saw.
?
Michael Jackson,
not Michael Jordan.
No.
No, no, no.
But I mean, if they did
that, I might go as well.
DIANNE: [laughs]
Oh, one second.
We got to take the picture.
He's got a good look.
- Ready?
Yes.
All righty.
Thank you so much.
- Thank you, Tristen.
God bless you, man.
[pleasant music]
Oh, this is where
the next one's at?
Hey, I'm Michael.
Nice to see you, Michael.
Nice to meet you.
JOE: So tell us about yourself.
I'm 33.
Never been married.
No kids out there.
Don't you want to have some?
Yeah, yeah, someday.
How fast is someday?
My daughter's 34.
She's very ready.
When I got my house, there
were a couple extra rooms.
Oh.
DIANNE: OK.
But we joke that it's more
of a just-add-wife situation.
Oh.
Just add wife.
OK.
Now, my daughter,
Victoria, loves traveling.
Do you have your passport?
I do.
The passport, it lives right
next to my pilot's license.
Oh, wow.
Oh, OK.
Oh.
So what about hobbies?
I'm a volunteer referee for
women's roller derby league.
Oh.
Ha.
That should be fun.
- Wow.
Wow.
- [laughs]
DIANNE: Well, I'm glad that
your cousin nominated you.
- Yeah, thank you, Michael.
- And it was great to meet you.
I'm gonna just take
a picture of you.
Oh, yeah.
And we'll see.
Boom.
OK.
I think it's a good one.
JOE: Yeah, I think he's
got a good potentiality.
DIANNE: Sounds good.
- Joe.
Dianne.
- Oh, hey.
- How are y'all doing?
Good to see you.
Are we gonna go in and--
- Yeah, come on in.
- It's so hot out here.
- You're telling me, yeah.
- Yeah.
JOE: You know, we
love book shops.
So, yeah, so, Tony--
DIANNE: Tell us about yourself.
TONY: I'm 28 years old,
and I'm about that age
to really just settle
down, find my partner.
So what about hidden talents.
I love dancing, singing.
Oh, how about a song?
Can you--
Come on, Tony.
A song on the spot?
DIANNE: Sure.
JOE: Tony, you got
to be spontaneous.
DIANNE: I don't know.
Maybe sing a little,
just a little.
It can be nice to be serenaded.
Come on, Tony.
DIANNE: I like that.
Come on.
JOE: Throw out a few bars.
DIANNE: Let's hear.
- Um--
[playful music]
Ha.
TONY: There you go.
- So you have to sing.
So what do you sing, Tony?
I gotta say, I might
be too nervous to sing.
Well, Victoria's quite a girl.
Loud girl.
Do you think that she
would overshadow you maybe?
- I'm very outgoing--
- She knows what she wants.
- and I can be
over the top, too.
But I also know when
to kind of draw it
back and be somebody's partner.
[pleasant music]
Can't forget it.
Smile.
All righty.
- Here we go.
Thank you so much.
JOE: Tony's a good-looking guy.
DIANNE: Yeah, good.
JOE: I think he's
got his head on.
I'm just wondering
about his age.
That may be the only-- oh,
- Hey.
- Hey.
- Hi.
I'm Keren.
So you Irish?
It's actually, biblical.
DIANNE: Oh.
- OK.
Really?
- Yeah, it means battering ram.
[laughs]
[laughter]
It's a pretty cool name.
So, how old are you?
I'm 35.
DIANNE: Oh.
JOE: Oh, you look good.
You've got that
boyish look about you.
DIANNE: You look younger.
Yes.
- Thank you.
- Good.
Where are you in your life?
So, what are you looking for?
I travel a lot for my job.
It's hard to meet
people that way.
So what is your
job, by the way?
I work for an
energy drink company,
so I do a lot of events for
them, like promotional events.
OK, she does events,
food and wine events.
Kind of similar
industry, then, yeah.
Where would you
go on a first date?
A museum, I think,
is great, especially
if you're into art and history.
DIANNE: She loves 'em.
She does, yeah.
JOE: That's good.
- Let me get a picture.
- OK.
All righty.
Boom.
Got it.
Thank you so much.
- Absolutely.
- It was very good to meet you.
- It was a pleasure.
[pleasant music]
DIANNE: Now we have a
lot of things to discuss.
Because there's
some interesting guys.
We just got a figure out--
- Full of surprise.
So--
All right, so what
do you want to do?
OK, so here we go.
Let's see.
Sosa.
Yes.
39, gonna be 40.
And I think he's very
southern gentleman.
Interesting, and, um--
He's in the restaurant.
She's in the restaurant.
DIANNE: Well, yeah,
I know, but I--
We're in the
restaurant business.
DIANNE: Well, I just know
that they're gonna get along,
and it's gonna be great.
But that's another thing.
Will that spark enough
for them to be romantic?
Tristen.
OK, he's a possibility.
Tristen was a
nice, low-key guy.
And we got along with
him, but will Victoria?
- Could be.
- Could be.
I don't know.
We're gonna have to
see about this one.
OK, but I think--
OK, keep him.
DIANNE: I'm keeping him.
And then there's Michael.
He's got the house
with the bedrooms,
like, he was talking
about a family.
Waiting for the wife.
Right.
Now, may have to
have him trim the beard
because I know Victoria--
- [laughs]
- Right?
I mean, she says she's
not a beard person,
but I think the guy
shines through his beard.
He's a keeper.
- OK.
OK.
Let's do this.
JOE: Tony.
DIANNE: It's just that he
is 28, and I think Victoria
might run over him, right?
I don't even have
to say more, so OK.
Ehh, OK.
[laughs]
OK, Keren.
Keren was an interesting one.
Oh, he was totally
nothing like I expected.
Genuine, friendly.
Maybe because of the way he
was dressed, but he was, um--
35, but he looked the
youngest of everybody.
Good-looking guy.
So it's Michael that we
have, and I say Sosa.
JOE: He's in.
So it comes down
to either Keren--
Or Tristen.
JOE: Or Tristen.
What do you think?
Keren.
Forget the Tristen, [laughs]
only because I don't think he's
different from anybody else that
she meets, and it doesn't work.
And I like Keren.
I think he's ready,
and I think she is too.
All right.
And I can't wait to see
where this is gonna go.
[fun music]
So we're in.
Fingers crossed.
Woo.
1, 2, 3.
Woo.
[laughs]
[uplifting music]
(SINGING) Well, I feel
like something's changing
Now you won't let it go
VICTORIA: Dating
in New York, I see
a lot of men that are
unsure of what they want,
and that's annoying.
Hopefully going on dates and
putting myself out there,
I will be comfortable.
Hey, how's it going, daughter?
So you excited?
I don't know where
I'm going, but sure.
DIANNE: [laughs] I'm sure
it'll be a nice date.
You know, I want
to see you happy.
I want to see you
do that dating,
so it's very important
to me that you
just give it your best shot.
Don't put these guys
in the friend zone.
OK.
It feels very weird and,
like, very unnatural to have
that conversation with my mom.
All right.
Don't cry.
[laughs] So why are you
getting so emotional, honey?
I know I don't talk to
you like this, but--
[laughs]
It's too--
With you, it's weird.
[laughter]
I know your dad's the
one that always says those,
but I'm saying it
now to you, OK?
Date, have fun,
and enjoy it, OK?
[laughter]
All right, sweetie.
Give me a hug.
I love you, sweetie.
Stop.
You know I'm not the
emotional type, but I just--
this is important to
me and and Dad, too.
OK.
I really cherish my
relationship with my mom,
and it's just, like,
I know in my core how
special of a relationship
I have with, really,
both of my parents.
[pleasant music]
[fun music]
DIANNE: I'm just wondering--
- All right.
Hi.
Welcome, everybody.
Welcome.
Come on in.
Welcome, everybody
from Peachtree City.
Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
OK, great.
So I am so excited.
As you know, we all
gathered together here.
You all nominated
a couple of people.
They were fully screened
by Joe and Dianne.
We grilled them.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
They grilled them.
They narrowed it down
to three top choices,
and now we all get
to sit together
and watch the dates live.
[cheering]
Now, after we watch the
dates, we'll all vote on who
we think Victoria should date.
And now we are gonna to watch
live Victoria and Michael.
[applause]
[fun music]
Sitting by the water,
it's very calming.
So, yes, it was nervous.
Like, who's this
person gonna be?
What are they gonna look like?
What are they gonna be about?
Hey, are you Victoria?
Hi.
I am.
MICHAEL: Hey.
Great to meet you.
I'm Michael.
VICTORIA: Nice to meet you.
MICHAEL: Your parents had
nothing but great things
to say about you yesterday.
Oh, I'm excited.
Yeah, it was fantastic.
Michael just pulls
up in the golf cart.
It was very Peachtree
City of him.
The beard maybe
shocked me at first.
That actually wasn't a
turn-off, but I don't know.
It fit him.
He's a very good-looking man.
He just has, like, a
warm presence about him.
He has a really nice smile.
I already had to like,
deal with my fear of birds,
walking up to the lake,
like that one right there.
[laughter]
Or geese, I should say.
I was, like, attacked by
geese when I was a child.
My aunt ran away.
There's photos.
They just, like, give
me the heebie jeebies.
[laughs] Oh, yeah.
[quirky music]
[laughter]
VICTORIA: So, OK,
give me the scoop.
MICHAEL: I work
in cyber security.
I work to live.
I don't live to work.
So I enjoy getting out,
actually, on the lake over here
and kayaking when I can.
Roller Derby keeps
me pretty busy, too.
Oh.
And then we actually have
Falcon Field over here.
Oh, yeah.
MICHAEL: I'm a member
of a flying club there,
and I've got my pilot's license.
OK, what don't you do?
[laughs]
MICHAEL: I'm bad at
remembering to clean bathrooms.
Oh.
Interesting.
[laughs]
MICHAEL: [laughs]
OK.
So that's my weak spot.
That's your red flag.
MICHAEL: Yeah.
- OK.
It happens maybe, like, two
or three weeks after it should.
OK.
[laughter]
So what took you north?
Look, I mean, you
know what this is like.
It's great.
I loved it here, but
there's, like, the itch of,
let's go to New York,
[pleasant music]
I don't know.
I just want to go out.
I want to travel.
I want to go to
all these countries
and be, like, all right, we're
gonna take cooking classes here,
and then going to go here.
Then we're probably gonna
take the train to do this.
But, like, we can
rest one day, I guess.
MICHAEL: The good news is
that I enjoy traveling.
I'm awful at planning travel.
And I'll be happily the golden
retriever that just follows
you, whatever we're looking at.
VICTORIA: Yeah.
I also-- raising kids and having
a family is equally important.
And, just curious how you feel.
I'm 33, so not having to
chase a toddler around at 40
is a good plan.
Yeah.
Oh, so, wait.
If you haven't heard the word
tomato in the last week or so,
I feel like people are always
talking about me and tomatoes.
- I did hear you grow your own.
- I do.
Yeah.
The way I show people I love
them is that I cook for them.
Any excuse I can to smoke a
brisket or make a pastrami--
Yes.
- it's going on the smoker.
I don't know how to cook meat.
Maybe that's our second date.
VICTORIA: Yeah.
[laughs]
[uplifting music]
Look, obviously, I
don't live here anymore.
Are you open to coming back?
Yeah.
I would for the right person
and make it make sense.
[vocalizing]
So I don't know what I was
expecting versus what it is,
but it was just really nice.
- The ducks getting too close?
- Yeah.
[laughs]
MICHAEL: [laughs] Oh.
But you can protect me.
That's fine.
[laughs]
I'll step in if
they get any closer.
[laughs]
[applause]
So cute.
Oh, so cute.
[fun music]
OK, so let's tune in
to Victoria and Keren.
[applause]
VICTORIA: Hello.
Hi.
I'm Victoria.
I'm Keren.
When I see Keren, he's
obviously taller than me.
He's got a smile on his face.
Immediately I was, like, OK,
let's see where this goes.
KEREN: Ladies first.
VICTORIA: All right.
Let's see.
[pleasant music]
I have to concentrate.
I can't even chit
chat and ask you
a million and 10 questions like
I feel like my parents probably
did, Keren.
KEREN: Yeah.
Yeah.
There were a lot of questions
going back and forth.
[laughs]
- What did you learn?
About your intense and
deep-seated love of tomatoes.
VICTORIA: So the fact that I got
a red ball [laughs] isn't weird
or anything.
Yeah.
Your love of red,
spherical-shaped things--
[laughter]
VICTORIA: Do you have a
feeling about tomatoes?
[laughs]
Honestly, I prefer the sauces
they produce to the tomatoes
themselves.
VICTORIA: Fair.
All right.
Here we go.
Mmm.
[quirky music]
Yeah, it's crazy how messed
up that golf club is, though.
Yeah.
[laughter]
All right, I got
you sour apple.
Mmm.
Cheers.
[laughs]
- Cheers.
Absolutely.
- Thank you.
All right, 'cause I'm
just gonna grill you now.
You were saying you
travel a lot for work.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, so I work for an
energy drink company.
And so I fly around
to different events.
It's very off the
cuff, but I like that.
I like being thrown
into these situations
and just trying to
figure out stuff.
Baptism by fire.
KEREN: Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, I love that.
Yeah.
Is that how you live your
life, though, outside of work?
Like, do you like structure?
No, I chafe at a schedule.
Uh-huh.
That stresses me out so much.
KEREN: It does?
I like a plan.
If you had to picture your
life five years down the road,
and not job-wise, but life-wise,
what is that ideal situation?
I really want to go to Japan--
Yeah.
- because I really love
Japan and the culture,
and I do watch a lot of anime.
- Oh.
- Yeah.
I really want to be able
to plan it out to where
I can spend a whole year there.
Don't you go to work?
[laughs]
[laughs]
[quirky music]
This fits somewhere in that
five-year life plan of yours,
right?
- Yeah, exactly.
Yes.
Yeah, one of those
years spent in Japan.
OK.
That leaves four of the
years for other stuff.
I wish that it could be a
situation where you could just
build, save up your
vacations, and add
up all the weeks together
until you get a whole year.
But that is not how it
works, unfortunately.
Yeah.
No.
It's a 802k.
It's twice as good as a 401.
VICTORIA: It was a dad joke.
- (LAUGHING) I'm sorry.
Your--
[laughter]
Yeah, so I was talking
to your parents,
and they let me in
on a little trait
of yours, which is that you tend
to friendzone a lot of people.
How are we sizing up?
What zone am I in?
What zone am I in?
I like it.
Um, I don't know.
I feel like when I'm
looking to date someone,
I want to make sure we see
our lives on a similar path.
KEREN: Mm-hmm.
And there's obviously
nothing wrong with what
you're thinking about.
Like, I want to do
this, and I want
to live in Japan for a year.
But it just seems
so off the mark
of what I pictured for my life.
Yeah.
VICTORIA: Yeah.
That's kind of the vibe
that I was picking up.
Not gonna lie.
You know what?
It's nice to the zone you're in.
But, yeah, awesome.
It was fun.
It was nice to meet you.
KEREN: Yeah.
It was absolutely--
Oh, gosh.
That was a lot.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
I'm so stressed out.
NICK: I felt like it
was going so good,
and then she was, like,
well, it's not perfect,
so I don't think
this is the one.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
[fun music]
Now we are going to
watch Victoria and Sosa.
Are you ready to watch?
- Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: All
right, let's do it.
All right.
[applause]
This has been a very
pleasant experience.
If we could date like
this from the jump,
it would be a lot easier life.
[laughs]
Hello, hello.
Nice to meet you.
I'm Victoria.
Nice to meet you as well.
I'm Sosa.
I feel like I know so
much about you already.
So you met my parents, which
is a little unorthodox way
of doing this, I suppose.
I think it's
probably the best way.
Yeah.
Why do you think that?
I mean, I think it shows a
lot of insight on who you are.
I get to see,
like, a future you.
Yeah.
I asked them, I was, like,
which one is she more like?
- What did they say?
- It's a combination.
The perfect mix?
SOSA: [laughs] There you go.
VICTORIA: That first,
initial thought,
is, like, Sosa's is a
very good-looking guy.
Happy, bright smile.
Immediately good vibes.
So I heard that
you're a foodie.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Tell me, what
exactly do you do?
So I produce food
and wine festivals
around the United States.
So I get to travel
and kind of create
those little pop-up
moments of joy for people.
Hello.
Oh.
What have we got here?
We got a little
surprise here for you.
OK, so question for you
Yes.
Are you a savory or
are you a sweet girl?
VICTORIA: I would
say typically savory,
but I feel like with crepes,
you have to go sweet.
OK.
OK.
So there's a bunch
of toppings here.
Yeah.
I want to see what you got.
It's a better vibe
than the last guy.
VICTORIA: I don't know.
I've actually never
done this before.
Like, look.
I rolled this up.
Obviously I'm not French.
[laughs]
Oh.
It came out fast.
A lot of sugar there, pal.
SOSA: [laughs] So you're
a banana girl, I see.
I like-- there's not
many foods I don't eat.
SOSA: Really?
I don't like hot dogs.
Really?
But I'll eat a corn dog.
SOSA: Really?
VICTORIA: So that
doesn't make sense.
And I don't really like soup.
[quirky music]
Soup?
You know what?
You're the second person I've
heard this week say that.
I don't like to be hot,
and I feel like it has to be
super, super cold outside.
It's, like, I'm always warm.
OK.
I run hot, too.
I like to think of myself
as an old Chevrolet.
OK.
[laughs]
[laughs]
[laughter]
So five years, what
does your life look like?
[thoughtful music]
OK.
I sacrificed the last
10 years of my life
in the restaurant industry.
Yes.
And my knife was my wife.
I've never heard
that one before.
I get it.
Yeah.
I just kind of realized, it's
time for the next chapter.
Yeah.
She's letting him
talk, which says a lot.
Like, that says a lot.
She wants to listen.
SOSA: [laughs] I
love it, though.
I love it, though.
I had a very specific
question for you.
How spontaneous are you?
[playful music]
I can be spontaneous,
but I also like a plan.
For me, I'm not really
good at planning things
until we're doing it.
Oh, yeah, no, absolutely--
[laughs]
- that would-- hmm.
SOSA: So I've had a
good date with you.
Hopefully, you
enjoyed it as well.
VICTORIA: Yeah.
No, it's been awesome.
I feel like I'm
blessed to be here.
She likes him.
SOSA: I guess what I'm
trying to say is I had a lot
of butterflies about this.
I was really anxious.
And when you walked in the
door, I kind of grew calm.
I'm pleasantly surprised.
[intriguing music]
The brown eyes
and the brown hair
are very right down my alley.
He likes.
VICTORIA: But on that expressway
of a relationship or whatnot,
there's exits.
Yeah.
And I kind of want to keep
moving forward with you.
Ooh.
Call her out.
SOSA: Getting to know you seems
like it's gonna be a lot of fun.
(SINGING) Get your
hands on the ball, man
You got me like a heat wave
[laughs]
(SINGING) Heat wave
Thank you.
I'll see you later.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Oh, wow.
Oh.
[applause]
Wow.
Everybody OK?
[laughter]
Holy.
That was-- I'm exhausted.
All right.
All right, so here's
what we're gonna do.
Each one of you
is gonna come up.
I need you to write down
the name of the gentleman
that you think
Victoria should choose,
who you would choose for her.
Put it into the ballot box.
I'm gonna count them up, OK?
Cast your ballots.
(SINGING) I know that
you're all mine, all mine
Ain't no question, though,
in my mind, my mind
I'm picking Sosa.
They have so much in common.
I think they'd make
the best match.
EMILY: I'm going.
Michael I feel like they
had so much in common.
ANASTASIA: I want Sosa, but I
think she's gonna pick Michael.
But I want Sosa.
I think that if she had
a second date, that he
would learn more about her.
And I think he would be a good
fit for the family, for sure.
[sighs] I agree.
I gotta go with Sosa.
I think he is a
vibe, and we all know
Victoria is all about a vibe.
She is.
She's gonna pick Michael.
[pleasant music]
Hello.
Hi, I'm Ashley.
I've been here, helping
your parents look
for the right person for you.
I fell like you and I
are gonna be friends.
I don't want to be presumptuous.
But we're in the same
vibe, so I saw you.
You're my kind of girl.
Right?
How's it going?
Good.
It's a whirlwind.
Is this the weirdest
thing you've ever done?
[laughs]
- The craziest thing.
I'm a planner.
But I think I'm open to
the possibilities in a way
that maybe I wasn't before.
If you could have your
friends and family screen
your dates ahead of
time, do you think you'd
have a higher success rate?
Absolutely.
What I'm doing
hasn't worked yet.
We want you so badly to be
happy because I see your life,
and I go, she deserves love.
It feels like it's time, and
it feels like you've earned it.
Thank you.
I've held a mirror up
to myself this week,
and I learned that
it doesn't have
to be perfect to be wonderful.
And do things scared, because
if you're not doing them,
you're letting yourself down.
Do you know right now who--
Um--
[quirky music]
I mean, it's one date, too.
I'd honestly like--
- Yeah.
VICTORIA: You don't know
what you don't know,
and that's the point of dating.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Totally.
OK, so we're gonna find out
tonight when we gather together
who the town picked,
who your parents picked,
and then all of us are dying
to know who you have picked.
Oh.
This is gonna be interesting,
I can't wait.
It's gonna be really fun.
Let's do it.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Let's do it.
- Let's do it.
- I'm so excited.
Yeah, OK.
[laughs]
[fun music]
(SINGING) Oh, I was
living with my eyes closed
Until you woke me up
JOE: I see all the
people love Victoria.
This is great.
Come on.
I can't believe all these
good people keep showing up.
OK, welcome back, everybody.
We're so excited you're here.
[cheering]
I am so sad to have to
put my golf cart away.
[laughter]
I don't want to give it back.
It feels like a part of me now.
So I've so enjoyed being here.
Thank you.
Thank you, guys.
[applause]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: She has
come a long way this week.
Yeah.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: I
think it's been-- right?
- from where she started to--
JOE: Oh, no doubt.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
- where she is now.
DIANNE: That she even
agreed to this is amazing.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
It's huge, yeah.
JOE: We love her, and we
want her to find love.
So we'll see what happens.
[applause]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: All right,
and now we've got to bring
out the woman of the hour.
Victoria, come on out.
[cheering]
Tori.
Hi.
Hi.
Hi.
We love you, Tor.
[laughs]
So the entire community,
we all got together,
and we watched your dates live.
Great.
[laughter]
We had so much fun.
What is it like
for you to now be
looking your community in the
eyes and to see this firsthand?
OK, this is wild, you guys.
I think everyone knows
that this is so unlike me,
but everyone showed
up and showed out.
And obviously, thank
you to my parents
for doing this and coming
along on this wild--
We want the best for you.
VICTORIA:--this ride.
We love you.
Whatever for you.
VICTORIA: I mean--
[applause]
- they're down for
a lot of things,
but this is another level.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Um, I do
have the results of a poll
that we conducted.
VICTORIA: OK.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS:
The community all
decided that the
person that they think
is the perfect fit for you is--
[fun music]
- Sosa.
[cheering]
But on that expressway
of relationship or whatnot,
there's exits.
Yeah.
And I kind of want to keep
moving forward with you.
[applause]
And now I would like to
tell you-- hold my hand--
who Joe and Dianne, your loving
parents, have selected for you.
Michael.
- Oh.
I like Mike.
[applause]
VICTORIA: The way I
show people I love
them is that I cook for them.
Any excuse I can to smoke a
brisket or make a pastrami--
- Yes.
- Maybe that's our second date.
VICTORIA: Yeah.
[laughter]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: All right, so
is it possible that you have
potentially found somebody that
you want to continue getting
to know here in Peachtree City?
Yeah, absolutely, yeah.
She said absolutely.
She said absolutely.
Love is in the air.
VICTORIA: Absolutely.
I know there's one I'd
like to get to know more.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: OK.
Are we ready for her to--
Drumroll.
I'm nervous, and
it's not even for me.
Are we ready?
We've been ready for a while.
[laughter]
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Yeah?
Are you ready?
I'm anxious.
Let's go.
[applause]
Bring him in.
Bring him in.
VICTORIA: Stop.
OK.
OK.
The person that I've chosen is--
(SINGING) Could this
be the moment I say
- Michael.
[cheering]
So maybe they know best.
(SINGING) I know
that you're the one
I know that you're the one
AUDIENCE: (CHANTING) Michael.
Michael.
Good seeing you again.
Oh, Michael.
I told you.
You had our vote.
Michael, we're so
excited you're here.
Hey.
Thank you.
Yeah.
How does this feel
to you right now?
Definitely not normal.
[laughter]
But after having
our conversation,
I knew their daughter
was gonna be wonderful.
And the date was
really a great time,
being able to hold
a conversation
and not have to sit there
and stare at each other,
although it's not a bad view.
AUDIENCE: Oh.
MICHAEL: [laughs]
So what do you think is
sort of the next step here?
I think a date
two makes sense.
Great.
[cheering]
I'm certainly looking forward
to playing those board games
together and trying
some of the tomatoes
I've heard so much about.
Maybe starting a second garden
down here in my backyard.
JOE: Oh, yes.
OK.
I like it.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Thank you
all so much for coming.
We wish them all the
best and all of the love
and luck in the future.
[applause]
[sentimental music]
VICTORIA: The whole
time, everyone's
like, what are you looking for?
What is the perfect person?
I'm like, I don't know
how to explain it.
I just feel like people have
an energy and a personality,
and that's what I got from you.
Yeah.
Maybe she's the one.
So should we hop
in the golf cart
and go grab some margaritas?
Did you bring
your golf cart here?
- Yeah, it's right over there.
- Yes.
All right, come on.
(SINGING) I know that
you're the one, whoa
I say, I say
I say, I say
I know that you're the one, whoa
