Superman and Lois (2021) s03e10 Episode Script

Collision Course

1
Previously on "Superman and Lois"
We didn't need your help.
He and the other firefighters
found ice inside the store.
Mr. Cushing said that this
is not the first time
that something like this has happened.
Congratulations, Superboy.
They're onto you.
I think we put Lex Luthor in prison
for a crime he didn't commit.
These victims, Intergang, Boss Moxie
Lex Luthor didn't kill them.
[SCREAMING]
She's contained.
That'll keep her powers
from working while she's here.
I think it's time that I show
you what I've been working on.
Ever since your mom's cancer returned
Is that Superman?
It's the Superman
of the Inverse World, son.
It's how I found
the cure to save your mom.
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
Breast cancer has been
the fight of my life.
And finally, this part of it,
the chemotherapy,
is over.
You did it.
We did it.
But like everything in life,
this journey has not just been about me.
Cancer affects many more people
than just the ones who have it.
It has affected everyone I love,
especially my family.
But it's because of my family
that I'm standing here today.
You gave me the strength
And you gave me the hope
that I needed
to see this day.
And I love you all.
Especially you.
Screw cancer!
ALL: Screw cancer!
[BELL RINGING]
[CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]

Okay,
I think that's it.
Where's the Mannheim board?
- [SNAPS FINGERS]
- [WHOOSHING]
- Thanks, babe.
- Yeah.
You still having second thoughts?
I don't think publishing that story
was the right thing to do.
Well, after the Henry Miller attack,
we didn't have a choice.
It put the pressure on Bruno.
But he still hasn't returned
what he stole from the DOD.
If he wants to see his wife, he will.
It's not right. Peia's dying.
Hey, I don't like it either,
but your dad won't budge.
I mean, he barely agreed
to let Matteo visit.
Maybe he'll change his mind
if I can get a confession out of Peia.
She hasn't spoken a word
since the arrest.
She might to me, and if nothing else,
at least I can say
what I wanna say to her.
You wanna come?
I think I'm gonna stay.
I've hardly spent any time
with the boys lately.
Feel like we could use
a good father-son hang.
That's a good idea.
Do something fun.
Yeah.

Okay, what do you think?
- You look pretty.
- I like the dress better.
Red's a power color.
I want the governor
to see me as a leader.
You're the mayor, Mom.
You're kind of the leader by default.
Kerry Wexler is a big deal.
I mean, a successful businesswoman,
a single mother.
If I do this right, it could
lead to big things for us
state senator,
maybe even Congress.
Regardless,
it's a chance for Smallville
to get some good press.
Uh, is the "Gazette" covering the visit?
Yeah, Chrissy is.
That gonna be weird?
The mayor's ex-husband's new girlfriend
just hanging around all day?
No, it's not like their relationship's
gonna come up. It'll be fine.
Okay, good to go?
- Definitely.
- You're gonna kill it, Mom.
Mwah. Your abuela's gonna
come pick you up in an hour.
What are you doing today?
I don't know, probably just nothing.
All right, well, text me
if you go somewhere.
[PHONE CHIMES AND BUZZES]

With this stall
in the Mannheim investigation,
there is barely enough stories
to fill out tomorrow's paper.
Well, can't you just use AP stuff?
I guess.
Maybe this meeting with Governor Wexler
will give me 2,000 words.
[CHUCKLES]
I may have something.
Oh, yeah?
- [CHUCKLES]
- Yup.
So this is Fowe's.
Right? And all that ice,
that just, uh, appeared
after the fire
was mysteriously extinguished.
Same thing happened
last year at the town hall.
Someone in Smallville has powers.
I think this is what you
should be writing about.
Sorry, but I [CHUCKLES]
I can't publish any of this.
Seriously?
I think it's a pretty big deal, Chrissy.
[CHUCKLES] I mean, you have no proof.
This is the proof.
This looks like Freon.
A a refrigerator probably
burst or something.
It's not refrigerant.
I would've smelled that.
Even if this person was real,
all they've done is help.
Why go to all the trouble
to expose them?
After everything that we've been through
in Smallville, don't you think
that we deserve the truth?

[SIGHS]
Look, babe, I I I'm no journalist.
okay, but
I think this is a really big story.
[CHUCKLES]
Well, let me be the one
who decides that, okay?
[CLEARS THROAT]
Okay, then.
- Kyle
- No, no, it's fine.
I'll let you get back to it.
[DOOR CLICKS SHUT]
- Where you going?
- Come on, get on it.
- Come on, what are you doing?
- Go, go, go.
Come on, catch him, catch him.
- Go! Touchdown!
- No, I had you!
- Bro, I literally had you!
- Hey, guys.
[LAUGHS] Your D's weaker
than you without superpowers.
Says the guy with two fumbles.
Jon, Jordan.
- Hey, Dad.
- Hey.
I was thinking the three of us
could, uh, hang out today
you know, do something fun,
maybe see a movie or fly somewhere?
Yeah, cool.
Anything fun you guys wanna do?
I don't know, not really.
Okay.
How 'bout this? I come
up with something,
and then we do that.
Sound good?
Sure.
Okay, cool.
Great.
- Here's the handoff.
- [WHISTLE BLOWS]
By the way, my D's next-level.
- [SCOFFS]
- [PHONE CHIMES AND BUZZES]
Yo, there's a senior kegger
at the old fairgrounds.
We should go.
I mean, we don't really have
any friends who are seniors.
So we'll make friends.
Besides, Sarah's going.
What? Sarah texted you?
Yeah, because, A, we're friends,
and, B, you won't stop barfing out
how much you're in love with her.
That's only, like, half true.
Okay.
The fairgrounds are so far
outside of town.
I'm gonna call Candice.
Maybe she can make
the drive down in time.
I I mean, we just
made plans with Dad.
Yeah, so what?
He cancels on us all the time
for Superman stuff.

Single player, I guess.
[ELEVATOR BELL DINGS]
Matteo.
[TENSE MUSIC]

Follow me.

You don't need to be nervous, son.
I just wish you were coming too.
Better that I don't.
This way,
you can be alone with your mother.
But, Dad, I don't know
if I could do this.
- Like
- Your mother's dying, Matteo.
Now, I know it's gonna be hard
to see her like this,
but she needs you.
We both do.
Yeah.

I'm ready.
I don't know about this, man.
He seemed pretty excited to hang.
Just let me handle it, okay?
I'll let him down easy.
[WHOOSHING]
Who wants to wrangle and tangle?
Huh? [LAUGHS]
Tonight!
Wrestle Rumble 40 in Metropolis,
no holds barred!
- Did you buy a shirt?
- Yeah!
It's Bam the Bulldozer!
Guys, come on!
We used to go all the time
when we lived in Metropolis.
Good luck, Jon.
W what's going on?
Uh, well,
that sounds cool, uh, but we
kind of already have plans.
What? I thought we had plans.
Well, I mean, we had
plans to have plans,
but now something's come up.
Candice was gonna come down,
and we were gonna hang
with her and Sarah.
Yeah, just super low-key.
Okay, well, have them join.
Dad.
What? I I just thought
it'd be fun for us
to all spend some time together.
Yeah, well, we'll do something else
more fun real soon.
I promise.
We kind of have to get going.
Okay, yeah. Um, um, tell the girls hi.
- Thanks anyway, Dad.
- Mm-hmm.
Not sure you're gonna get
the results you wanted there.
I need to make this right.
It's not about you, pumpkin.
It's about her.
I'm afraid Peia Mannheim's
not long for this world.
That's why it's time
for her to come clean.
My experience,
person keeps a secret long enough,
sometimes the truth is lost
even to them.

[POWER DAMPENER THRUMMING]
I was hoping you were Matteo.
Just me for now.

Are you comfortable?
[CHUCKLES]
As much as I can be.
The doctors here have
some really good painkillers.
You all done with chemo?
Yeah, rang the bell and everything.
Hmm.
My mastectomy is in two days.
Mm.
You feeling nervous?
I was a mess. [CHUCKLES]
I feel better now.
Still
Yeah.
It's hard to put in words
what that's like.
I missed having you to talk to.
Guess cancer does
make strange bedfellows.
[CHUCKLES]
Which is why I wanted
to give you the opportunity
to set the record straight.
[SIGHS]
Just hear me out.
Things are going to get written
about you, no matter what.
This is your one chance
to tell your side of the story.
And what's that story?
Hmm?
A superpowered monster
who's been running loose in Hob's Bay?
Is that really how you see yourself?
'Cause the woman I know
is a lot more complicated than that.
She's a devoted wife,
a loving mother,
a friend.
Let me tell your story, Peia.
I promise I'll be fair.
[SOMBER MUSIC]
[SIGHS]

Okay.
Okay.
[PHONE RECORDER DINGS]

Hey. My God, I'm so glad you're here.
The governor's arriving any minute.
I know, but first,
we need to talk about Kyle.
- Chrissy.
- There's a problem.
Which is now your problem.
I've been supportive
of this relationship,
but I'm not gonna be tech support
on how to deal with Kyle.
- No, it's actually about
- She's here.
The secret.
Governor Wexler, it's an honor.
Mayor Lang, thank you
so much for having me.
Hope you don't mind. I let some
of the press know I was coming.
Ah, I see you've got one of your own.
Oh, you know Chrissy Beppo
from the "Smallville Gazette".
The newspaper that disagreed
with my school tax bill.
Now, how about you walk me
through what happened here?
[ROCK MUSIC]

Well, gotta hand it to you.
Many people have tried,
but you're the first person
to actually rip Superman's heart out.
Yeah, yeah, okay.
Jonathan.
[LAUGHS] Hey, babe.
You made it.
Peggy's sister Nancy was super sweet,
and she let me borrow her car.
Hi, Candice.
Hey.
Maybe I should send Aunt Nancy
a thank-you letter.
Maybe you should.
I'm gonna I'm gonna go find Sarah.

[INDISTINCT CHATTER]
- Yeah. Yeah.
- [CHUCKLES]
- But it wasn't my mattress!
- [LAUGHS]
Whose was it?
Uh, Vanessa's.
It's a long story.
Uh, did you ever tell them
where it came from?
No, 'cause I'd already
spent the 60 bucks.
- [LAUGHS]
- What'd you spend it on?
It's not really important.
Hey, uh, why don't you go grab a beer
while Junior finishes his story?
Yeah, man.
They don't ID here. You'll be good.
Okay.
So the boys didn't wanna
hang out with you, huh?
Yeah, they said something came up.
[SCOFFS] Yeah, I bet it did.
All right, all right.
Like, I
I finally have time
to hang out with them,
and they couldn't get
away from me fast enough.
They're teenage boys.
Hanging out with boring old Dad
just isn't a priority,
even if their dad is you-know-who.
Feel like some people
would think that's pretty cool.
Yeah, well, those
people aren't your sons.
- Yeah.
- You, Clark,
are fast approaching
the obsolescence phase
of fatherhood.
Just be glad they don't hate you.
For most of us, that's considered a win.
- How's it going in there?
- Mm, a lot of backstory,
feelin' all sorry for herself.
But I think Lois is about
to get her on the hook.
[DEVICE BLIPS]
Did Boss Moxie ever find out
about you and Bruno?
No.
We managed to keep it a secret.
He must've been suspicious, though.
Hard hard to say.
Why is that?
We weren't actually dating
for very long before [COUGHS]
Boss was murdered by Lex Luthor.
I see.
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
I listened to Luthor's confession again,
and I don't think
it was him on that tape.
I think it was you.
He had a motive.
So did you and Bruno.
The way that Moxie and
his men were murdered,
your powers did that.
I don't know what you're talking about.
It's the only thing
that makes sense, Peia.
You and Bruno killed Boss Moxie,
took over Hob's Bay,
and you used Luthor as your fall guy.

Have you ever been in a room alone
with Lex Luthor?
He has this aura.
It's terrifying,
like you're in the presence
of the devil himself.
To this day, that man
is the only person in the world
who scares me.
But he didn't kill Moxie or his men.
- You did.
- I can tell you
about a dozen other crimes
Luthor committed that are far worse
than what happened to Boss.
- Peia.
- Don't do this, Lois.
I helped put a man behind bars
for a crime he didn't commit.
And the world is better for it.
Lex Luthor was a monster
before he went to prison.
Can you imagine what he's become since?
Setting him free would
be the biggest mistake
of your life.
That's not a denial.
[SCOFFS]
We're done here.
Peia, please tell me the truth.
[BREATHES HEAVILY]
Thanks for visiting, Lois.
Don't come back.

[POWER DAMPENER THRUMS]
[ROCK MUSIC PLAYING]
[INDISTINCT CHATTER]

I think that keg is tapped.
Here.
[SIGHS]
Okay, can you not do the whole
sad-boy thing right now?
Just admit it. That guy Junior's a dick.
His dad was murdered.
Cut him some slack.
He's still a dick.
So is this what being friends
with you is like?
Just getting pissy every time
I'm talking to another guy?
- That's not it.
- Then what is it?
It's because you looked
annoyed that I came
to talk to you when you were with him.
You barged into our conversation
while he was telling a story.
- You shooed me away.
- Oh, my God.
Get over yourself.
Stop making me feel weird
whenever I'm around you.
You know, sometimes I really wish
I never fell in love with you.
That makes two of us.

[INDISTINCT YELLING]
Well, it's certainly
going to take a while
to recover from this.
Well, the plan
is to not let that happen.
To supplement insurance claims,
we're utilizing all rural
disaster development aid.
I've met with all the store owners,
and we've agreed
to focus all the resources
on the businesses impacted most.
- Hmm.
- [HORN HONKS]
Hey, Governor.
Great little community you've got here.
Yeah.
Been in Smallville
my whole life for a reason.
Helps when you've got good leadership,
people with their eyes
toward the future.
Well, just trying to do my best.
You're succeeding.
People are taking note
people like me.
Single mom, right?
As of recently, yes.
Ah, let me guess.
He got bored and traded you in
for some young floozy?
Oh, don't be embarrassed.
I've got the same story
best thing that ever happened.
I realized pretty quickly the only thing
that cheating son of a bitch
was doing was holding me back.
No, you get a bunch
of single moms in charge,
badasses like you and me,
we'll fix this state up pretty quick.
Now, uh, I hear you can get
a mean piece of rhubarb pie in town.
Follow me.
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
[ROCK MUSIC PLAYING]
So you still haven't seen your dad?
I mean, he's called a few times, but
You know where he is?
Um, Kansas City, I think.
I'm not sure.
Honestly, it's, uh, not the first time
he's vanished, so
That sucks.
People are who they are, I guess.
But, uh, how's the fire station?
Oh, it's fine.
Wait, last time we talked
about it, you were so excited.
- What happened?
- Nothing.
Uh, Mr. Cushing just wants me
to take a break for a bit.
Why would he want that?
Can we just, um
can we not talk about it?
Oh, uh, sure, if that's
what you really want.

[INDISTINCT CHATTER]

It it sucks not having you here.
It's been tough.
I miss you too, babe.

[HIGH-PITCHED WARBLING]
[ENGINE REVVING]
[TIRES SQUEALING, SIREN WAILING]
- Sheriff!
- Sheriff!
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
Go, go, go!
This is the Sheriff's Department.
Everyone remain where you are.
Hold it right there!
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go!

- Come on!
- I'm trying.
I get caught, this will be
my second underage drinking.
You're not getting caught.

- [ENGINE TURNING OVER]
- Kill the lights
so they can't see which way we went.
[ENGINE ROARS, TIRES SQUEAL]

Are they following us?
Um
- I don't think so.
- No?
No, I think we're good. [CHUCKLES]
You're, like, this
badass getaway driver.
- That was insane.
- [LAUGHS]
[LAUGHS]
- Oh, my God!
- [SCREAMS]
[TIRES SQUEALING]
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
[SIRENS WAILING]
[WHOOSHING]

Did you see that?
Some guy with powers
just saved our lives.

Yeah, well, she tried getting away
by turning off her lights
just wasn't expecting a deer in the road
- when she cut 'em back on.
- Sarah,
what the hell were you thinking, huh?
[INDISTINCT RADIO CHATTER]
Listen, Kyle.
I'm willing to drop fleeing the scene,
but driving under the influence
I'm afraid the department
can't just look the other way on that.
We're gonna charge her with a DUI.
Yeah, I understand.
Uh, listen, you have my word
that her mom and I will make sure
nothing like this ever happens again.
Thankfully, no one got hurt.
People usually don't walk away
from a wreck like this.
That's because somebody saved us.
- Junior.
- No, not this again.
Hold on, now. What
what makes you say that?
Because just as we started to crash,
there was, like, this blur,
and then suddenly,
we're on the side of the road.
When I looked up, there was
some guy standing there,
but then the sheriff showed,
and he just vanished.
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
Did you see any of this, Sarah?
- No.
- Come on, Sarah.
There's no way
we could've just gotten out.
Somebody saved us, and you know it.
Mija,
what happened?
I'm sorry, but I have no idea
what he's talking about.

I don't, Dad.
You think you can, uh,
describe this somebody for me?
Try not to let it bother you.
This is what happens with teenagers.
They wanna be with their friends
more than their parents.
Yeah, but I loved hanging out
with my mom when I was their age.
[CHUCKLES] It's one of the
many reasons I love you.
[SCOFFS]
I know everybody says it
gets easier as they get older,
but I guess the trade-off's
getting left behind.
I know, but our main job as parents
is to put ourselves out of a job.

You really think Peia's right
about Luthor?
The world's better off
with him in prison
even if he's innocent?
That's not for us to decide.
All we can do is tell the truth.
You have to find out what that is.
She's not gonna tell me anything
at least not right now.
Then give her a reason to.
- Change her mind.
- [DOOR CLICKS OPEN]
Matteo Mannheim just arrived.
Okay if I send him in?
Give me a few more minutes
with her first.

[DOOR CLICKS SHUT]
- [HIGH-PITCHED WARBLING]
- Dad, where are you?
I need to talk to you.
[WHOOSHING]
Hey, is everything okay?
Dad, I really screwed up.
I think someone might've
- seen me out on Deacon's Road.
- Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Slow down, slow down. What happened?
So Sarah and George Junior,
they were almost in this car wreck,
so I flew in to try to save them,
but I think George
might've seen me after.
- Was anybody hurt?
- No, no.
And I had my hood and goggles on
the whole time, so I don't even think
- he saw my face.
- Okay, okay. Hey, hey.
You did the right thing, all right?
Whatever Junior thinks he saw,
we can deal with later.
Okay.
Why do you smell like beer?

Okay.
There was this party,
and I had maybe half a beer at most.
- You were at a party?
- Yeah.
Just sort of came up.
And was this before or after
you and Jon canceled our plans?
I mean, does it matter?
I just saved two people's lives.
Yeah, and you also lied to my face
so you could go drink at some party.
I I told you it was nothing.
Oh, it's enough to get
you and Jon grounded.
You can't be serious right now.
You keep giving me attitude,
you're gonna make it worse.
- Yeah, whatever.
- Excuse me?
This isn't about me having a beer.
This is 'cause Jon and I
didn't wanna hang out with you.
Okay, Jordan, get up to your room.
Yeah, I would rather
be there than watching
some stupid wrestling match anyway.
[STERNLY] Right now.
[WHOOSHING]

I can't believe that Superman
actually endorsed you.
I mean, worlds were merging.
It wasn't a normal situation.
Best endorsement I got my first term
was from some big-shot rancher
out in Belleville,
and it turns out, he was
selling psychedelic mushrooms
- to kids at K-State.
- You can't seriously
be talking about Diamond Dave Carlson.

I mean, I did some
reporting on that story
crazy, crazy stuff.
[DOOR CLICKS OPEN, BELLS JINGLE]
[DOOR CLICKS SHUT, BELLS JINGLE]

Um, it's for you.
Uh, if you'll excuse me.
Who is that anyway?
It's just her ex-husband.
Why did you get up first, then?

Uh, I'm sorry to pull you
away from all this,
but, um,
first off, Sarah is okay.
- Nobody was hurt.
- What happened?
She was drinking.
- [SIGHS]
- Totaled her car.
- Oh, my God.
- Yeah.
Uh, Deputy Johnson
is charging her with a DUI,
but she's agreed to release her
into our custody, and I thought
that it'd be best if we handled this
on a unified front.
Yeah, okay, all right.
Just I need a moment.
Is that Mayor Lang's daughter?
I'm not really sure.
Is it?

[SIGHS]

Governor Wexler, I am so sorry.
Is everything okay?
Yeah, just a small matter
that needs my attention.
Uh, looks like you've
got your hands full,
Mayor Lang, so, um, good luck.

Why don't you call the car?
She really is a fantastic mayor.
[DOOR CLICKS SHUT, BELLS JINGLE]
[WHISPERING INDISTINCTLY]
What is wrong with you?
I thought if anyone could
understand, you would.
Can't you just let me die in peace?
You need to let me help you.
[SCOFFS] By setting Luthor free?
Not happening.
This isn't about him.
This is about what kind
of example you're setting
for Matteo.
Do not use my son as leverage.
You've lied to him his whole life.
I am a good mom.
But is that what he's gonna remember,
or will it be all the things
he's gonna read about you,
all the people that you've hurt?
Matteo knows my heart.
But you have hidden so much from him.
He must have so many questions.

I never wanted him involved
in any of this.
My life,
the mistakes I've made,
it was all so that he
wouldn't have to make
those kind of choices.
Matteo deserves the truth, Peia.
Show your son you have regrets.
Be the example he needs.
Let that be a part of your legacy.
I can't.
Yes, you can.
[SIGHS] No.
Not without seeing him.
It's just it's important
he hears it from me first.
Then you'll tell me everything,
even about Luthor?

Send him in.
Wait.
He's here?
Make this right with your son.
We can talk after.
Can you take these off
so I can at least hug my son?

[SIGHS]
Sweetheart.

Hey, Mom.
I'm so sorry.
I wasn't planning on driving.
It's
the sheriff came, and everything
happened so fast, and I just
- Drove drunk?
- I wasn't drunk.
We are not gonna debate
how drunk you were, Sarah.
You had alcohol in your system,
and you got behind the wheel.
That is never okay.
I know. I know I messed up.
Yeah, you're damn right you did.
I am so disappointed in you right now.
What if something would've
happened to you, Sarah,
or or Junior, huh?
The two of you should be dead.
- Dad.
- And you still haven't
been straight with me about what really
happened out there either.
What do you mean?
Dad thinks that some superhero
rescued us from the crash.
- Who, Superman?
- No.
Uh, someone else.
Junior said he saw somebody.
[SCOFFS] Kyle.
Lana, if you'd seen the accident,
you'd know that that's the only thing
that makes any damn sense.
Why would Sarah be lying?
Why would Junior?
Look, something happened
out there, okay?
I know it did.
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
[SCOFFS]
I I don't know what
you want me to say, Kyle.

Okay, Lana, you know what?
You handle this, all right?
'Cause I don't really wanna
be around either one of y'all
right now.

[DOOR CLICKS OPEN]
[DOOR CLICKS SHUT]
Look at you.
You even figured out how to tie it.
[CHUCKLES] Yeah.
Wasn't easy without you.
None of it is.

I'm just glad you're here.
Me too.
[SNIFFLES]
[SIGHS]
About that night
at Little Ace's
No, no, Mom, Mom.
You don't have to do this.
No, it's important.
I need you to know the truth.
I talked to Dad.
He told me everything.
What do you mean what
do you mean everything?
I know what he's been working on.

The cure.
Oh, Matteo.
I love your father,
but but he's desperate, and
No, no, Mom, Mom.
It works.
It works. That's
that's why I'm here.

Now, Dad said it wouldn't take long
for it to kick in,
and then after,
you come find us at the place
where it all started.
Oh.

A month is a little extreme, Clark.
Lois, he lied, and he was drinking.
I mean, fine.
He's grounded for two weeks
no powers, no fortress.
We'll talk about it when I get home.
What did Jonathan have to say?
- He's not back yet.
- Is he driving?
- Do you know if he was drinking?
- I don't know. I don't know.
He's probably with Candice somewhere.
Everything okay?
You need to find him, Clark.
Okay, okay, just hold on.
- [HIGH-PITCHED WARBLING]
- Wait.
[ENGINE RUMBLING]
- He just pulled up.
- [ENGINE SHUTS OFF]
I'll call you back.
- Jonathan!
- What the hell, Dad?
If you were drinking and driving,
we are selling this truck!
I wasn't drinking.
But you were at a party!
Where I drank water.
Look, if if I was drinking,
you'd be able to, like, super-smell it
or something.
Okay, well, your brother was drinking.
Okay.
So do you want me
to apologize for him now?
Look, after everything
that happened last year,
there's no way I would be
drinking and driving.
You don't have to worry about that.
Okay, okay, I believe you.
Just
but you lied to me about the party.
Okay, sure.
Maybe we should've told you about that,
but we were just trying
not to hurt your feelings.
- [CHUCKLES]
- [STAMMERS]
I just think it's important
we spend time together.
You guys are growing up so fast.
Okay, well, you're the one
who's always busy.
Like, we can't just sit around
and wait for you to have free time,
especially since I haven't seen Candice
in, like, a month.
That's not how it works.

Can I have my keys back now?

Thank you.

[LOCK BEEPS]
Now that the kid finally left,
you need to get that confession.
Probably gonna be your last shot.
Sure you don't want me to come with?
Yeah, it's best if I finish this.

[POWER DAMPENER THRUMMING]
I'm glad you got to see Matteo.
I know this isn't easy,
but you promised you would
be honest about Luthor.
That was before.
Before what?
Before I got better.
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC]

You're gonna help me
get out of here, Lois.
[INTENSE HUMMING]
Take me out of here.
[STATIC CRACKLING]
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC]

Get me out of here now,
or I'll bring this whole building down.

You've reached
the voice mail of Lois Lane.
Leave a message, and I'll call
you back as soon as I can.
Kyle?
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

Hey, Kyle. What's going on?
Is Jon here?
Uh, yeah, he's upstairs.
I need to talk to him.
It's about Sarah.
Everything okay?
Luckily, yeah
'cause of him.
I'm [CHUCKLES]
I'm sorry, I don't understand.
I'm pretty sure you do.

What's Mr. Cushing saying?
He thinks you have superpowers.
Me?
[ELECTRICITY ZAPPING]
You realize you've made
your son an accomplice?
He's a part of this now.
It doesn't matter. We'll protect him.
[ELECTRICITY ZAPPING]
- Unlock it.
- I can't.
- Unlock it.
- I don't have access.
What's on the other side?
The control room that leads outside.
- How many people are in there?
- You blow these doors,
every alarm in the building will go off
and Superman will be here in seconds.
Don't do this.
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC]
I really do wish things
had been different.
In another life, we would've
been great friends.
- Peia, please.
- Sorry, Lois.
[INTENSE HUMMING]
- What's going on?
- [INDISTINCT YELLING]
Lock it down!
[INDISTINCT YELLING]
Lock it down!
[SCREAMS]

[SIRENS WAILING]
He was at the party.
Oh, but so were lots of kids.
And and and he was there
the night when the fire at Fowe's
turned into a damn snow globe.
I mean, come on, Kent.
I know he's got powers.
Kyle, you're wrong.
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
Everything started when
your family moved here,
and Jon has been at the center
of all of this.
[HIGH-PITCHED WARBLING]
[PEOPLE SCREAMING]
Kyle, you you need to leave.
No, I will leave when
I get some answers.
- [EXPLOSIONS BOOMING]
- We'll talk about this later.
We can talk about this now.
- I have to go!
- Just
please tell me the truth.

I know it was him.
No, it wasn't!

Go home, Kyle.
I'll explain it all to you tomorrow.
[WHOOSHING]
[PANTING]
[PEOPLE SCREAMING]
[PEOPLE SCREAMING]
[SIRENS WAILING, GUNFIRE]
Peia.

[ALARM BLARING]
Full lockdown is now in effect.
All medical staff report
to the infirmary at once.
Repeat, full lockdown is now in effect.
All medical staff report
to the infirmary at once.

Superman.
Peia?
She's gone.

[FOOTSTEPS TAPPING]
[SIGHS]

Mom?

Mom.
Mom.

You did it.
We did it.

[CHUCKLES]

Greg, move your head.
