Deadlock

(fast paced music) (slow paced music) - Ahh, it's weird Hooker.
It's been a quiet night.
How come I can't shake the feeling the lid is about to blow? - Full moon.
- Oh come on, what are you into astrology all of a sudden? - This hasn't got anything to do with astrology.
I'm talking statistics.
You ask any watch commander, they'll tell you the action goes off the charts when the moon is full.
- Yeah? Glad to hear that.
I had a little action planned for later tonight.
Stefanie Mansfield.
- Ahh, little Stefanie, the ski bunny you met last week.
- You got the bunny part right.
(upbeat music) - You wanna leave it here? - Yeah.
Then we can pull in closer when we're ready to load the guns.
(ominous music) (loud banging) - [Police Officer.]
Hiya.
The police, open it up.
- What's the problem? - [Police Officer.]
We got a silent alarm call, wanna check it out.
Thanks.
(loud gunshot) - He's out.
I think for good.
- Well put him over there and let's keep going.
- Hey man we could be looking at a murder rap.
- Hey, hey, hey, you wanna make big bucks you gotta take big risks.
Besides, you guys came crawling for this job.
- What do you mean crawling? I got you the job for the guns we're gonna rip off.
- Yeah, and it's your job to make sure that those punk gang kids pay for every piece! - Are you sure he's alone? - I do my homework.
I got the security schedule down.
- Alright, alright, the elevators are over here.
Come on, we'll pick up some stock cards on the way out.
(slow music) (beeping) - [Narrator.]
Four Adam 30 meet four Adam 16 on tact two.
- Four Adam 30 roger.
Four Adam 30, go 16.
- Just wanted to let you know we're taking our code seven at Benny's 1 a.
m.
- Benny's 1 a.
m.

How's it going? - Quiet.
But you never know on a night like tonight.
(slow paced music) - Alright, they're over here.
Grab the handguns first, then the rifles and shotguns.
- Hey, the gang didn't order any shotguns.
- Shut up Gomez, we got other customers.
You'll get your cut from that too.
(glass shatters) (clanking) (upbeat music) - Castle neon.
Wait til that lousy manager sees the new paint job this place is gonna get.
- Yeah, gonna cost him a lot more than that tape deck.
- Yeah, from now on I do my shoplifting some other store.
Come on Picasso, let's do our thing huh? - Graffiti freaks.
- Looks like the paint is still fresh.
- Yeah and I don't like it.
I don't like any of what I'm feeling.
- Like it's a full moon? - That, and maybe there's more to come.
- Let's take a look around back.
(ominous music) (tires screeching) (faint dispatcher) - He's dead.
(ominous music) - Do you hear anything? - Zero.
- This way.
- No man this way.
- Man you're crazy man.
You can't hot wire a cop car.
- Yeah watch me.
Get in, I'll drop you off at the pick up, you can follow me.
(faint dispatch) - The lines cut.
- Look at this.
- One of ours? - I thought so but take a closer look, it's a phony.
You better call for backup.
- Our car is gone.
- Say that again.
- Gone.
We've been ripped off.
- Are you setting me up? There's nothing happening on the first floor.
All the phones are out.
- You think whoever killed the guard stole our car? - I don't know.
You better check out the other floors.
- Well if somebody's up there, they're gonna hear the elevator.
- Okay, that's enough.
We've got everything the gang wants.
- Hey man did you hear me? We got other customers.
They're taking down a bank and they need heavy artillery.
- 10 after one, I guess they got hung up.
- It's not like them to be late.
Hooker always gets here ahead of us.
- Well, five more minutes and we get back to work.
(ominous music) - Hey Mark, Mark.
Get something to pry that open.
- Relax, we got the combination.
(loud gunshot) - What are you crazy?! - Relax! That guard downstairs is beyond hearing anything.
- Yeah, but there could be others.
- I checked this place out good, there's only one! - Then check it again! - Use the stairwell.
I don't like surprises.
(ominous music) - Nothing.
- We got visitors.
- What?! Who? - I don't know.
I saw two dark figures and a flashlight beam.
- Cops? - Or some other guys trying to break in.
- It doesn't matter, whoever they are, they're dead.
(faint hissing) - You know the trouble with cops? - Yeah.
They think everything should be black and white.
(both men laugh) - Alright, let's go.
(upbeat music) - Anything? - Nothing.
But this is all she wrote.
Top floor and they gotta be in here.
(ominous music) (clicking) - Hooker! - Now.
(loud gunshots) There! (loud gunshots) - You okay? - I took one in the leg.
- [Narrator.]
Four Adam 30 come in.
(beeping) Four Adam 30 code one.
(beeping) Four Adam 30 do you read control? (beeping) Four Adam 30 code one.
(beeping) Four Adam 30 come in.
(beeping) Four Adam 30 do you read control? - Where are those guys? And why aren't they answering their calls? - Get hold of the watch commanders Stace.
Ask for permission to look for Hooker and Romano.
(ominous music) - I think we got one.
- Let's rush 'em.
- Shut up.
Nobody's rushing anybody yet.
You keep 'em pinned down while I check 'em out.
- Damn.
- Can you still handle your weapon? - Yeah.
Just don't think I can move much.
- You won't have to.
Just make sure that no one reaches the stairs or the elevator.
I gotta find a phone that's working.
- Looks like I got the soft job.
- That's okay partner, I owe ya one.
- You think there's only two of 'em? - If there were more, they'd be here by now.
- With that open area they won't be able to get to the elevator or the stairs.
(man laughs) - And neither can we.
- Hey man, this is getting to be a lot heavier than I thought it would.
- Don't go getting flakey on us Gomez.
Rollins said you had credentials.
All those years running the gang.
- Yeah but we never went up against cops.
(ringing) - [Operator.]
Operator.
- Operator, this is a police emergency.
(loud gunshot) - I'll tell you when you can invite somebody else to your housewarming! I like the odds just the way they are right now! (beeping) - [Narrator.]
40 Adam 90 to Four Adam 16.
- Four Adam 16, go 90.
- This is Sheridan.
I'm overriding the watch command.
You have permission to cruise four Adam 30 sector.
Try and find 'em.
And keep me informed.
- Roger, 16 out.
(solemn music) - You okay? - Yeah.
They blasted the phone system.
- You didn't get through? - No.
The phones on the lower floor are out.
Even if we can get to them.
(ominous music) - We got the flagpole Rollins.
Let's rush 'em.
Two less cops and the world would be better off.
- Don't get crazy, it's too risky.
We could take 'em in a crossfire.
Get room behind 'em.
Gomez cover.
Now when I give the word, push the gun cart like we're going for the elevator.
(ominous music) - Something's up.
- They may be trying to find us.
Can you move? - No.
But I'm not gonna stay here.
(slow paced music) (suspenseful music) (loud gunshots) (ominous music) - We got 'em! We got 'em! - No! - Now! (loud gunshots) (loud gunshots) - Where are they? Jim I'm really getting worried.
- Ease up, they're okay.
We'll run into them any minute now.
- Looks quiet.
- Take a look at that.
- That's what happens if you have nothing to do and no place to do it.
- And you left your brains in the drawer.
Still no sign of Hooker or Romano.
Let's check around back.
(beeping) - Four Adam 90 to Four Adam 16.
We got a report that a civilian was seen driving a black and white in the vicinity of Hunter Park.
That could have been Four Adam 30.
Get on it.
- Four Adam 16 roger.
(slow paced music) (solemn music) (ominous music) - I'm gonna get you out of here.
You need medical attention fast.
- We try to cross in that elevator, we'll both be hampered.
Besides, I don't think I can make it that far.
- I'll get you there.
- I've got a better idea.
I'll cover while you go for help.
- Negative.
You won't last long alone against three guns.
- I'll take my chances.
- We're both going out of here together.
We need some diversion.
- Why don't we just split huh? And hit some place that ain't loaded with cops.
- I don't know.
I guess it just sorta makes my day.
Ooh I hate cops.
They've been pushing me around all my life.
And now it's my turn to push back.
- Give me your handgun.
- You hear that? - What? Where? - They're moving.
- Where? (faint hissing) - It's over there.
- Check it out, we'll cover ya.
(ominous music) (perky music) (ominous music) (perky music) (ominous music) (suspenseful music) (loud gunshot) - What's that? - Here, take it.
When I tell you, you pull it.
- One of them moved out about 10 yards and then went back in.
- Oh they're up to something.
- Can you make it? - We'll find out.
- Alright.
When we get inside the elevators, you push the button while I cover.
- Okay okay, Martin, get back where you were.
Gomez, get down to the end of the cabinet.
Now if they try something I wanna know about it real fast.
- You ready? - Okay wait, wait.
- You can make it partner.
- If it all goes sour, I want you to make sure my dad gets this.
- Easy Red.
- $20 gold piece.
Belonged to my grandfather.
Lucky double eagle.
- Well you're gonna need it yourself if you're gonna get lucky with Stefanie.
Let's do it.
(ominous music) - Alright, it's all over! We got your flag, lay down your weapons! Alright that's it, no more warnings! Let 'em have it! (loud gunshots) (upbeat music) - They're empty.
- Empty.
(ominous music) (loud gunshot) - Get out of the way Rollins, I'll take 'em! (loud thud) No, you'll hit Rollins! (loud gunshot) - Drop it it's over.
- For you man, it's all over for you! (slow paced music) (ominous music) - Elevator sounds like it stopped.
- Find something to pry the door open! We'll look down and see what floor they're on! - What about the second cop?! - I'll get him.
Cover me.
(suspenseful music) - Come on cop! Stick your head up so I can blast it off! - Give it up, there's no way out.
- Well that's a laugh, ha ha.
You're the one that's in trouble.
Your partner's probably dead by now.
You know, you've been here for two hours and no help showed.
I got two guns upstairs, but baby you are all alone.
- My partner can take care of himself.
Hell I won't even make good that your two clowns have split.
- Oh? They'll come get me.
You see they're too scared not to.
- I'm not so sure.
That guard you smoked downstairs, he adds up to enough prison for three life times.
They'd be smart to leave ya and save their own necks.
- How long do you think you can hold that gun without getting careless? - For the rest of your life maggot.
(ominous music) That's how long.
(suspenseful music) (clanking) - He's dead.
Let's get Rollins out of the elevator.
- It's Four Adam 30 alright.
- What do you think happened? - I wish I knew.
Paint look familiar? - Shopping center.
- Right, let's call it in.
(faint dispatch) This is Four Adam 16.
We located Four Adam 30.
Both officers are missing.
Advise 4W90 there's fresh paint on it that matches fresh graffiti found at Fashion Plaza.
(ominous music) - What are you playing hero for anyway huh? You want a promotion? Extra 10 bucks a month huh? Now me, I've got a good business going.
A real business.
I move a lot of guns.
I can put oh, a couple hundred cash in your pocket every week.
Tax free.
- I'm not for sale.
- Oh come on cop wise up.
Hey hey, all you gotta do is you tell your head man that you're outnumbered so we got away.
Who could blame you? - The way that control panel looks, neither one of us is going anywhere.
Why don't you push a button and see if it moves.
- What are you trying to pull? - Well you're making a lot of big talk.
(laughs) You have no idea how to get out of here.
Somebody has to see if this box moves.
- Oh yeah? You'd like me to take my eyes off you huh? Just for a split second.
Well forget it.
Besides, that panel was blown to shreds.
- But it just might work.
And that could be very important to whichever one of us comes out of this alive.
I'll make you a deal.
Let's both get up at the same time.
- Okay.
Just, you move easy.
(ominous music) - Real slow.
- Oh yeah.
Damn it! No no, you don't push any down buttons.
If we're going anywhere we're going up to my men.
- You wanna decide which way this thing goes you push the buttons.
(ominous music) You need glasses, you pushed the wrong button.
(loud thud) (laughs) - Ooh, you should have killed me cop.
- Next time.
I will next time.
- [Martin.]
Hey Rollins! You okay?! - Yeah yeah! Get down here and open the hatch.
- They move you're dead.
Even if you shoot me too.
- Take it easy, we're coming! - Tell 'em or you'll bite it.
- Hold it Martin! Now just, don't do anything til I tell ya.
- What are they doing? - I can't see anything but the top of the car.
There's a ceiling hatch we can get through if we can get down to it.
- The doors are jammed, no way we can pry 'em open to get down there.
We're gonna have to cut 'em open.
- Okay.
We'll get the torches out of the van.
- Oh you're tired? - Afraid my hand will cramp and you'll catch a bullet? - Well you can always throw down that gun.
I mean, you're not gonna make it anyway.
Eh, eh, eh.
- Why don't you use your brains friend.
You try to buy me it didn't work.
You a man of God? You don't have another hand to play.
- You actually believe you're some kind of Boy Scout hero.
You know what I bet, I bet you're a cop because you, you wanna help people right? - Yeah, something like that.
- Well here's your big chance.
Help me.
Save my life.
(laughs) Well I mean that's what you believe in isn't it? (tires screeching) (loud gunshots) - Yeah! Yeah! - How your cop friends forgotten you.
And we're losing oxygen down here.
And I am your only way out.
- The store's gonna open in the morning.
We'll be found then.
- So? Unless you got the guts to pull that trigger, you're still gonna be my hostage.
(suspenseful music) (ominous music) - Over here.
Vince.
- Get an ambulance.
Easy easy.
- Vince can you hear me? - What happened Romano? Where's Hooker? - Trapped in an elevator with one of them.
With an empty gun.
- Hooker has an empty gun and the other guy's armed? - Take it easy, take it easy Romano.
An ambulance is on it's way.
Hooker! You down there? This is Captain Sheridan.
- Here Captain! - Shut up! - Look we talked to Romano, he told us the situation.
You understand? I understand what's happening down there.
- I got ya Captain! - I'll do the talking here! Now, I'm gonna kill your man unless you get me out of here.
- Go on, I'm listening to what you have to say.
- You tell your man to drop his gun.
You get us out of this elevator, you have a car waiting.
When I see that I am not being followed, I'll release your man unharmed.
- I'll think about it.
- Think quick! - We got a lousy hand.
With an empty gun, Hooker is a hostage.
(ominous music) - Hurry up Captain, you're stalling.
(loud coughs) (Hooker mumbles) - Not to me.
- What? - The Captains using (coughs), he's using tetride nerve gas.
(coughs) They're pumping it in.
They're stalling and pumping it in! - What are you trying to pull? I don't smell anything.
- It's odorless! They're sacrificing me to get to you! - Cut it! (coughing) - I can't stand that.
Get me out.
I can't (coughs).
I can't stand.
- Sit down! - Get me out! Get me out! My lungs are on fire! - Crazy! - Here! I'm your hostage! - Now what did that get you huh? - It got you an empty gun.
- You expect me to believe that? - Hey, I don't care what you believe.
- Hold it.
- You don't get it.
It's all over.
- Nah.
For you.
(clicking) (slow paced music) - [Captain.]
Well let's clean it up and get out of here.
- Captain, got a citizen report.
A guy saw a pickup follow Four Adam 30 into the park.
Noticed a kid was driving 30.
Took down the pickup's license number.
- And all points turn the truck along with two juveniles and some spray paint cans.
- The wounds bad but it looks clean.
Nothing broken.
- Then he'll be okay? - Yeah looks that way.
- How do you feel Hooker? - Oh I'm glad to be alive.
I think if we had to wait til morning to be found in there neither one of us would have lasted.
- You know I got this funny memory for like names, faces, badge numbers.
I'll see ya again.
I'll be thinking a lot about you.
- You do that, 'cause you're gonna have plenty of time to think.
When they close the cell doors on you you're gonna be old and gray before you breathe free air again! Get him out of here.
(solemn music) (fast paced music)
